Confusing- inapp purchaseI actually love the app. And my children do too. I downloaded the lite version checked it out and decided to pay for the full upgrade. Unfortunately the FULL upgrade can not be shared across devices like the regular app. So if you plan on sharing this app with more than one child & over multiple devices do not get lite and upgrade. Just get the iAllowance Chores and Allowance (cost less too).Version: 2.6.2

Have used this for years - love it!I’ve used this for years for my 2 kids. I use it every single day. I love how flexible the app is. When my kids were younger, in addition to keeping track of allowance for chores, I also awarded them with stars for good deeds - the stars could then be redeemed for a “prize” from my prize box. Now that they’re older (15 and 13) I use it just to keep track of allowance for chores. I love that I can deduct allowance as well - if they decide not to do a chore for the day, it subtracts $5 from their allowance. I pay them the actual money when they ask for it. My son has built up quite a balance over the years - over $500. My daughter is more of a spender, so she asks for money more frequently. James Spencer provides excellent app support - I’ve had several technical issues over the years and he has always responded immediately and has always resolved any issues I’ve had. Recently I and my 2 kids got new iPhones, and to get the app to synchronize across all 3 using our individual iCloud accounts, I had to pay again to buy the app from the App Store (previously, I paid in-app for the upgraded version), but I really didn’t mind, since this app has proved so useful to me..Version: 2.6.3

Best chore app I’ve foundI tried a lot of apps before I finally settled on this one last year. This is the best in my opinion. I liked it so much that I immediately paid for the upgrade so I could have full access! It’s very simple and yet can do so much at the same time. I create a list of chores for each kid and whenever they do a chore, they get a check. Simple as that. I created a chore called “didn’t do chore” and it has negative money as the pay so they lose money if the don’t do it 😆. My kids used to mark all their chores on a board in the laundry room but it got too complicated and couldn’t remember when a tally was given or not. With this app, it’s dated so I simply go to the date to see if a chore was marked. When my kids want to buy something, I simply go to savings and withdraw money from their bank. Love this app! Also, with the new update, my account reverted back to basic and I lost access to both my kids and all the chores. However, I emailed the developer and by the next morning I had full access to everything I had paid for! Great communication and customer service..Version: 3.0.1

Helped us be consistentWe’ve been using this app for about six weeks and it’s fantastic! It’s easy to use and customize: we were able to create different “chore” lists for our kids (who are 3.5 years apart in age) and they’ve enjoyed providing input and ideas of additional things they can do to help. They each decide what activity or item they want to earn (we use stars) and we decide how many stars they need to earn for said reward. Because the app is so easy to use and sync-able, we’ve been able to be more consistent with our expectations which has helped all of us; we have far less arguing and far more helping out..Version: 3.0.1

A Perfect appThis has way more features than we need, but the base functionality that we use - an allowance as a percentage of their savings – is so much better than anything else that’s on the market that we couldn’t get by without this. As the kids have grown, they’ve been able to see the impact of their purchasing decisions on their long-term income. Now that they’re 12-year-olds, I wish it had a chart and long-range planner they could use to see the present value of future allowance. Or maybe a “read-only” version they could sign into. I super-duper love this app!I've been using iAllowance since it was brand spankin' new and it just keeps getting better and better. I have three kids and it can be hard to keep track of everybody's allowance, but this app makes it a breeze! It's also wonderful to have automatic scheduled transactions for adding their allowance to their accounts. I even use this app to keep track of our Family Fun Fund, then we all sit down together and figure out how we'll use it. One time we went go-kart racing. Absolutely wonderful!I love this app! It’s so amazing. My kids get their chores done and earn rewards for racking up the right amount whatever of the 4 options you choose as points. I use stars as my point system. You can set rewards for things such as cold hard cash or events that they want to go to, anything! And even change the currency. There are so many options! Useful, but steep learning curve.I’ve been using this app for several years now to keep track of chores, allowance and savings for my 2 daughters. It’s a very powerful app with rich features allowing you to get creative and specific with how you want to incentivize chores and savings with your kids. I does however come with a bit of a steep learning curve. Initial setup can be a bit painful, especially in regards to the cloud sync feature. It does work eventually, and every time I get a new device of the kids upgrade to a new phone, I pretty much have to start the sync process from scratch..Version: 2.6.0

A fanI started using this app a few years ago when I saw kids (ages 3, 6 & 8 years of age) pretend playing with their real cash and coins. Money was getting lost. This has been a perfect way for me to keep track of their allowance $. And the kids can spend their $ at anytime as long as they have some to spend. Makes allowance a snap.I always forgot to pay allowance and would forget how much they had. Now they get it automatically. And, I can keep track of their purchases. The chore tracking is great too, but I mostly use the recurring allowance auto payment. They get to manage their money. So many ways to track chores or behavior and reward in diverse ways. Very Hard to Sync for a Non Tech PersonThe app seems like it will do ever I need it to, but one thing. I can’t get it to sync our IPhones. I was told by Verizon, if I use the Icloud sync I will get all text message my family gets. They also warned me not to use the Dropbox link due to software bugs. Can't get it to syncSeems easy to use and set up 2 kids accounts. Don't like that we have to purchase the app for each device-- that increases the price quite quickly if you have 2 parents and 2 kids. But main frustration is that the syncing with Dropbox seems intuitive and easy EXCEPT it's not syncing on my husband's phone-- even though with both phones we get the message that syncing was successful..Version: 2.5.1

IAllowance is Awesome!Our whole family loves iAllowance. We tried a bunch of different ways to keep track of allowance and spending, but ended up with arguments and lots of extra junk. Now there's no question how much they've earned or what they can buy. The kids seem to understand more how much things cost and are learning about compound interest. We also don't have to worry about where all their cash went or why they lost it again. The app is so flexible I was able to add different amounts of interest for different accounts. The kids have started putting their money in savings b/c they noticed how the interest $ earned keeps increasing. I am able to disperse money to multiple accounts when they use the chore chart. That means a portion can go directly into savings, spending, tithe or whatever with only one touch of the device. Awesome. I love efficiency. I highly recommend purchasing the full version or the full upgrade on the light version. Completely worth it. One other note. I had an issue with the app only once having used it for about a year with 6 accounts active with all kinds of features. When I emailed Jim, the developer of iAllowance, he responded personally within hours, offering a quick solution to the problem. You will be hard-pressed to find and app of such high quality and flexibility that also comes with the personal assistance of the developer himself..Version: 2.0.0

Great Tool!We use this app with the kids. It's fantastic and motivating for them. Only recommendation for developer would be to have one common list of editable chores and rewards that can be added quickly and easily for all children - the way it's set up currently is a bit cumbersome. The boys love being able to see what's in their banks - we also use real funds in conjunction with the electronic version as a tool to teach them how to reconcile their piggy banks!.Version: 2.3.9

Great app and great support!I downloaded the free version to test, but decided the best value was in the full version. Posting my review for the full version here as well. The kids are quite excited to be using this app to track their chores for credit. The initial setup on the first device took a bit of time, but the setup wizard walks you through it. The dropbox sync is what makes this app so useful for me. I have it installed on 2 iPhones and 4 iPads. The sync is a bit slow the first time, but fast for updates. I ran into an issue I couldn't figure out from the help so emailed the support address. I was very happy to get a prompt reply to help me sort out my issue..Version: 2.3.3

Love it when it worksI thought it was a great way to end the allowance debate with my kids. We'll worth the money. I have this on an iPad and iPhone. Unfortunately I have had some some instances where entered transactions disappeared. There is a restore from backup function but I'm not sure if everything is there. I'm using this to keep track of my kid's money. It has to work flawlessly but doesn't. I think I will just keep it on my phone and end the syncing issues..Version: 2.2.1

Setup is a little trickyThis app is great as an allowance tracker and chore chart. The format is very easy for the kids to navigate, and is very motivating for them. Being able to see their siblings' totals also breeds a little healthy competition. My only complaint is that the set-up was very time consuming and the interface with Dropbox took a bit to figure out. Once it's set up, though, it works great.
