Social stories are an important type of visual support often used with children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome or other special need. This social stories found in this app use simple text and descriptive pictures to explain the why and how of different social skills.

Social stories were first defined by Carol Gray in 1991 and are commonly used to break down a task or social situation into small and easy to understand steps, often accompanied by descriptive pictures. Amazing appAny bad review were’s out there for this app you’re probably not a special-needs person or have a special-needs person in your life you probably are just a typical person with typical people and downloaded this app to experiment with it that’s why you don’t have a very good review even if you do have an artistic person in your life and your back and your belly reviewing it then you must not have used it very much I’ve only created one social story and I know that this is awesome I recommend this for a lot of people especially kids I got this for my brothers because they mean the world to me and they’re both autistic so I thought this was perfect I always find my iPod touch every day so this is very convenient please get the app if you haven’t already🤩😍.Version: 5.1.15

Not bad but……Okay so I like this app, but once you make two stories, you can’t make anymore. You have to pay money to to create more stories. And it isn’t that fun so yeah. All you do is create a story and then read other books that are like for kindergarten. I do like how you can add a picture to your book, but that’s not really it. I just want to create more stories then that would be a little more fun so please fix this. Or else it’s just going to be boring for everyone. And no one will like this app unless you pay. FOR MONEY. Ugh it’s just so annoying and my mom doesn’t let me buy stuff that you have to pay on games only my own money and I’m just a kid so I’m not wasting my own money just for that. It’s ridiculous. User friendlyThe Social Story App is easy to use to create custom social stories. The structure is clear. Adding photos from the iPad allows teachers to personalize the specific story. It would be great if we could print custom stories or send them as a file to another teacher. I also wish they filled the screen when played. But this app has encouraged me to write multiple stories and it is definitely user friendly! The library of written stories is very helpful. There is a good selection of familiar needs. Fantastic functionality, super easy!I never review apps. I know I should, but I don’t. This app is an exception. It is superb! Very, very easy to use. There’s a free version that you can download, and you can make a few custom social stories with it. And there are a couple of tiers of paid versions that allow more stories in your library and various other nice features. Get the free version to try it out. If you have a non-conversant or communication-challenged loved one, I bet you’ll end up buying the full version and using it all the time. So awesome!!.Version: 5.2.2

Love this appThis app has made my life as an OT much easier. It’s so easy and quick to make social stories for kids, parents, and teachers. I just take photos with my phone and narrate the images. The only thing I’d change is the $30 required by myself, parents, and teachers in order to share the o line stories. You can print a free version or email family and staff a free pdf book to print, but if they want to the online version, they have to have the app. The app costs $30..Version: 5.1.15

Good app but needs workThis is a great app to quickly create social stories. You can print them out into book form and insert real pictures. The update allows you to change the font- great addition. The old font was hard for younger students to read. It is difficult to know how much the social stories cost since there is just a $ for $$. So I have not bought any. I like that I can customize and build my own story. I am having issues with the app right now when I email the pdf to myself. It is telling me it sends, but it is not sending- so I can't get the story in print form. Other than that- I really like the app and use it daily when writing social stories for my students..Version: 5.0

Easy to use!I write social stories for young children with autism and other disabilities (or any child who needs a little extra instruction to learn a new social routine) and this has worked really well for me! It's super easy and intuitive to use. I like having the options of kids watching and listening to it on an iPad or iPhone and being able to print it as a hard copy. While you are somewhat limited on the free app you can share a copy with someone who also downloads the free app and you can test it out with two saved stories before deciding whether or not you want to purchase the app. I have not yet downloaded the social stories already created but have previewed them and they look good too..Version: 5.1.7

Like this app, but...I like this app! I purchased the stories but love that I can create my own. My only suggestions would be to make one spot to touch I turn a page, at the moment we are pressing and pressing, sometimes without getting a page to turn and other times skipping a page. Good idea but has some problemsFirst of all, all the social stories tell you that they have a cost by a dollar sign hanging over the story however it does not say how much any of the stories are which means I will never buy any of them because I don't know the cost ahead of time. Second, to create a social story you have to use photos from your camera roll. I want cartoons or stock images. So essentially creating a story here is more complicated than literally going to a word document and finding photos online and creating your own outside of the app. I will be deleting this app as it has 0 usefulness to me..Version: 5.0

GoodGreat app! My student with autism loved this app. I did, however, have trouble when I tried emailing the PDF file to my email. It does not send as a PDF and therefore the computer cannot read it. I would love it if this was fixed so that I could print the story out! Thanks!.Version: 5.1.2

Great app for padaeducators!I work as a paraeducator at an elementary school and this is an awesome app for social stories! My students love the pre made stories and also love creating their own! Hmm...The story was so easy to make, I thought I had a new tool to use with my students. I specifically bought the pro version so I could email a story to a student moving to a new school....we wanted to prepare him over the summer with pictures of the new school and staff. Once I tried to email, I realized the recipient also needed to buy the app. Great concept, but useless if I can't share by email to my students..Version: 3.3

What happened??Okay .. Love this app BUT after I upgraded to ios8 I lost all options to use my photos in a story AND lost all the pictures of the previous stories I made. Wrote to the company and have never heard from them.. Dont upgrade your ipad.. So disappointed!!!!!!.Version: 3.1.2
