High quality productions!I love the higher production quality, better directing, better acting, better screenplay writing, better original stories found on CandyJarTV. I have watched films from a lot of apps presenting this genre now being called Verticals, and there is such a wide range in quality out there! Some apps offer a lot of movies with OK quality but sometimes repeats similar plots (like ReelShort) or apps where production values are so highly variable (DramaBox varies from really great to pretty iffy) or apps with technical issues with use (Shorts). But CandyJarTV suffers from none of these issues and probably represents the top of the field, going for quality over quantity. Try out The Arrangement, for an outstanding modern drama, or Chasing Kiarra if you are into a more fantasy genre. If you have been reading on Galatea (which I also recommend), some of their top rated books have been made into movies on CandyJarTv and the conversions have been outstanding! I’m not big on doing App Store reviews, but the quality difference between CandyJarTV and most of the other Verticals apps calls for speaking out..Bryonne42Version: 2.14.3

Genuine actingI’ve tried a couple of these kind of apps and the acting is atrocious on all of them, the set designs and camera work usually garbage. This one feels like professional movies/shows. I think whoever is making these has the potential to make big budget movies in the future. The acting feels very genuine and like they actually make people audition before just throwing them on. Best vertical app but needs more featuresI watch a lot of verticals on several apps and Candy Jar puts out the highest quality verticals of any app. The acting, stories, scripts/dialogue, and cinematography are all consistently great. But the best part is that they aren’t as absurdly greedy as a lot of the apps out there. The yearly subscription is quite reasonable and affordable for most. That said, this seems to be a young app that is building itself. Features within the app are very basic. There is no option to change playback speed. There is no way to search for specific actors. If you’ve never clicked on a show before, you’ll get a small synopsis but once you begin watching, you’ll never see that synopsis again - and no description page for each show that tells you who the actors are. Finally, there is no option for picture-in-picture, so you will have to interrupt your viewing if you need to check another app or notification. There is also a somewhat limited library - for now. It seems like they put out a new show once a week, and I expect as they establish themselves their content library will greatly expand. Also, consider that this app is clearly focusing on the quality of their content and not just churning out garbage. I much prefer that. I have yet to see a single show on this app that I did not enjoy. If they were to add the features I mentioned above, this would easily be a five star rating..ChristynessVersion: 4.0.0

Great videos but can’t watch themI’ve had this app for about three months now and since then I’ve loved it. Every 24 hours, 5 free episodes would unlock to be viewed, which was so amazing. Because I would be waiting for the 24 to pass to keep on watching the story. Unfortunately though for some reason, which was never even communicated about the app about two weeks ago only allows for one free episode every 24 hours. Some shows have 70 episodes which means, if I'd like to watch one it will take almost two months before I can finish just one single story. I hope this is fixed soon because I will delete the app once I finish the series I am waiting day by day to complete. It’s very upsetting there was no warning this would even happen as well. Great content but….The show that was advertised is interesting and was enough for me to log in daily BUT the app does not keep track properly of your episodes. You have to wait 24 hours before you can unlock a new episode unless you’re paying. I’ve had this app for over a week and on three occasions this app has reset my free episodes. I have logged into it at various times in the day to check my timer or to actually unlock the new episodes. If you do not watch the entire episode when you’re unlocking it will not be available later on. I recently was on episode 25 and just attempted to watch the episodes and it had locked episodes 24-25 and said I had to wait 24 hours for episodes I’ve already watched. Monthly subscription PLEASEEE!🙏🙏I love the app!! The shows definitely become addicting. However, that being said, I really wish you guys offered a monthly subscription. I definitely think you would make way more money. Not everyone has $60 to spend at once, but I think if you did a monthly subscription of like $7, you would get 1,000s subscribed within the first day guaranteed! It’s frustrating having to wait a day to watch another one minute clip especially when people get so obsessed. Good, but could be better!!Love the app!! Love watch the books on Galatea come alive. The only reason why I didn’t rate it with 5 stars is because the app needs a few more tweaks. There should be a way with getting coins or unlocking episodes by watching ads everyday. I have other apps that do that and it make the app more enjoyable. Also, there needs to be a way to go from episode 1 to the last episode without having to go though all the episodes in between. If I watch a show and want to rewatch it, I don’t want to go through all the episodes to get back to the first one. Really like BUT….I really do love this app. The movies shows whatever you would like to call them have really good acting in them. It’s not that cheap fake acting that you can obviously spot is really bad. It is really good and it’s very believable. However, what I really don’t like about it is the pausing. I bought the week by week and I ended up canceling it because it would only let me watch about 4 to 5 chapters in one day and then it would just completely stop. I tried deleting the app and re-downloading it thinking. Maybe it was just a glitch, but it continues to do it and I’m just really tired of it. Ok but priceyAs many have said the acting is great, story line was good (at least the one I watched, the arrangement) but….chapters range from 30-40 seconds or 1 1/2 minutes but both cost the 50 coins. The one I watched cost me $40 to watch, with the 100 free coins you get from following on social medias and I still have one chapter left that I will wait until tomorrow to watch if I remember. I won’t be purchasing another. I knew going into it it was going to be way over priced, which is why I don’t have their reading app anymore. But just to give people perspective before they download, mine had 96 chapters, first 13 were free. Good Shorts, Terrible UIThe shorts are all really good and fairly well done. My problem is the UI is terrible. There’s zero search functionality, so I just have to hope I can find what I’m looking for even if I know the name. Also, I don’t like that you can’t see a breakdown of the episodes, you just have to watch and guess when you’ll have to start paying for them. Also, there’s no subscription service, you have to pay for coins, which are VERY expensive in order to unlock episodes. InclusionI’d say the app is pretty well-built, the stories aren’t terrible. But one thing that really catches by eye is the fact that it isn’t very inclusive. At least all the mini-series have white mcs or something of that sort. It’s all straight as well. I’d say, as a mini-series fanatic, there are so many ideals to improve such as making a boy love or girl love story instead of keeping with just being straight. Because not everyone IS straight, and there are plenty of queer actors and actresses that would kill for a gig such as this. Great shorts, frustrating appI like the story lines and acting on this app so much better than others (except for the too quick cut scenes). It’s not cheesy like other apps at all. However the app does not allow you to save videos you are interested in for later unless you watch them, and even when they show up in “continue watching “ they sometimes start back to the beginning or at the wrong scene. It also apparently created my account to a generic email that I don’t have access to and now I can’t even contact customer service to try and change it because it only let’s you connect from the email. I don’t know why I like itThe stories give like that game where you make choices called episode but if you enjoy those stories you’ll definitely love these. I agree with a previous comment, there should be a way for one to win coins daily or get certain passes that refill over time and a simple way to be Abel to do this is with ads. Need more showsI got hooked on this app and I paid for the year subscription. I have a couple other similar apps and assumed this would have a ton of things to watch like the others but it turns out they have a very small library which is super disappointing as I paid for the year and it is basically pointless now since I have watched EVERY episode of every show within a very short amount of time. Great appThis is great app but all of the sudden you have to wait 24 hours to only be able to watch one episode of whatever show you choose to watch. This is als a new thing cause when i first got the app i was able to watch four episodes a day and than i would have to wait for the next day to watch more. Great app.. but what’s going on??I have a lot of apps like this and this one is by far the best, but then it made me wait like 12 hours for the next episode. Addicting shows but awful coin set upI have a not so secret addiction to these little shows, I started off reading the Galatea books. Way too expensive compared to other appsI got suckered into some of the similar apps out there, and I don’t mind paying some $ to support the actors and production crew. However, this is by far the biggest rip off on the market. It costs around $50 per series, no option to buy the whole thing in bulk, and some episodes are 30seconds while others are a minute and a half and filled with fluff (while it’s unthinkable that on these platforms where they edit everything down to 30s-1min long episodes there would be fluff, well they find a way) no way to skip episodes for example or to preview episodes etc.! Look, I’m one of those people where at this point in my life I’d be willing to pay $15-$20 per series. It’s the deception and beyond exorbitant price that I find annoying and quite frankly insulting so I will be deleting this app right now. Also, as enticing as they make the ads, trust me that you’re not missing much- they drag things out unnecessarily, no character development, no scene ever goes beyond kissing though they do say the F word a lot. DisappointingAgree with others that they must be paying for the 5 star reviews. And if you read some of those, they’re not all actually positive. Several gripes. First, the cost. Definitely not a big enough library here to warrant paying $70/yr. A small monthly subscription maybe, but that’s not an option. There’s also no landing page for the stories so you can’t go back to rewatch something you might’ve missed or just liked and want to see again, the same way you might rewatch an episode or reread a chapter on another platform. Then there’s the wait time. 24 hours for a handful of super short chapters that are like 5 mins total viewing, if that? Ridiculous. If I could leave zero stars I certainly wouldThere’s no customer service available for CandyJar. I reached out to them because I downloaded this both of my phone and on my TV and it was working on my TV for a while but has quit and his demanding that I pay 1999 a month for service that I already paid a year for unlimited views there’s no way for me to sign in through the app that’s on my Roku and I followed all of the advice through Google to try and access that my paid for subscription with zero solutions. I reached out to customer service and their response was to tell me that I was past the date to request a refund and that they take all customer concerns seriously but gave me no attempt at support. It is a complete sham. They should have some sort of customer resolution center, which they do not, and they refuse to give me any money back. I will never use the service again. Good at first, goes downhill fastAt first it seems like a great app with so many great short series to watch, it’ll let you watch the first 10-15 ish episodes all at once for free, and then it makes you wait 24 hours or pay ridiculous high prices to unlock more. TerribleI have had the Galatea book app for 2 1/2 years and LOVE reading the books! I seen some of my favorite books turned into TV shows on this app and decided to check it out. Horrible mistake! The shows do not keep in line with the books at all with characters or events that happen in the books! I understand that you may not be able to find actors that are an exact match but at least try to get close! Like in one book the main character talks a lot about her love interest’s beautiful sticking blue eyes but the show has a person with brown eyes and when she has a dilemma with her boyfriend he was supposed to be the one to comfort her and take her home, that is not what happened in the show! It's like they didn't even read the dang book! This may not bother some of you but this stuff bothers me! I would suggest just either watch the show or read the book don't do both! Buggy compared to other apps, but great with original selectionsI don’t know if it’s just a me issue, but every time I’ve used the app so far, I am unable to unlock episodes that I did actually wait out. Some of my other general complaints: - no ability to save series to a designated library like you would on similar apps or even on Galatea. - position seems to save at the last free-unlocked episode, which is tedious even when you’re just two episodes past that - can’t change the playback speed on episodes to help make them go faster. Not a huge deal, but minorly annoying as someone who is neurodivergent and utilizes that feature often. Compliments: - the selection is FANTASTIC. Well-edited, original stories (usually originating from Galatea, making it really good for drawing traffic between both apps) with actors who seem to know what they’re doing, and even though the tropes are there, they’re disguised better than other apps. - the app is pretty easy to navigate and coins don’t seem to be hard to get (according to other reviewers, which is believable based on how easy they are to get on Galatea as well) - guaranteed actual free episodes of you wait out the countdown. Really overratedI feel like this is like I don’t know how to explain it but it’s like real short TV like they stop at the 11th episode and they just make you pay money and I don’t even know how to earn rewards like they don’t even tell me how to get them. like you have to pay $10 for 1000 coins but you can only watch 20 more episodes and like I just find it weird because you only get 20 more episodes and it’s like 42 like 100 episodes each series so like why do you do that and plus listen hear me out they make these episodes mad short like I don’t get it. The app makes you buy coins & steals itI started watching His Nerd and was fine with the option of 24-hour wait between free episodes or to skip using 50 coins (there are a total of 56 episodes). I even bought 1,000 coins and used 50 to skip the first wait. But less than 10 episodes later, I was asked to wait again or use 50 coins to skip and suddenly, my balance showed zero coins, even though I should have had 950 left. I was confused but then I bought another 500 coins, and the same thing happened again just a few episodes later. This app literally steals your coins and money. There’s no option to report the issue in the app, and if you press back during playback, it forces you to rewatch the episode from the start. Wow this is expensive!I love the Galatea stories in the reading app. This is cool to see them turned into movies…. That are 40 seconds to 1 minute long each…and cost literally 200$ to unlock everything for the year. This is asking a bit too much! That is a lot of money. So expensiveI think I spent 10 dollars to start and then kept buying 500 coin packs to finish a show. I spent around $30-$40 and still didn’t finish a show. Why? Just why? That’s how much I spend for all my streaming services combined. It would be different if it was $10/m and get access to everything. Okay, that would make sense. Awful app- maybe get 3 minutes of content a dayThere are a few shows that I want to finish and then I'll delete the app but this app is ridiculous. Every segment or chapter could be 30 seconds to a minute and you might get one or two chapters or four, depending on the content, every 24 hours. But not all. - In what world can you not review or up or down vote show? - And I definitely don't understand how you can't move shows to and from your favorites or watchlist. Once it's in your currently watching, it's there until you finish it. So I have a bunch in there of it I never finished because some of the actors are good but most are horrible! Insane prices & auto unlock not working.The acting and plots for these shorts are amazing. Unfortunately after watching maybe 8 episodes u have to wait 24 hours to unlock one single episode at a time. The alternative would be to subscribe but subscriptions are $70. Few OptionsUnlike the other short drama apps, there’s no way to earn free rewards to watch episodes. You can get a couple hundred when you first download but after that you’ll have to buy episodes. And those first couple hundred go quick; you won’t get through even 1/4 of the episodes. There’s also no affordable option to do so.
