Not as good as the originalI was so excited when I saw there was a new Exploding Kittens game available - I happily paid $5 and downloaded the game. Unfortunately, so far it’s only made me want to play the older version. The new animations are neat, but kind of sluggish even on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. The addition of Nope cards is fun, but the animation lag sometimes prevents you from actually using them. Also, if a player goes idle during a game, they get asked to answer if they are still there, but aren’t forced to make a move. This sometimes allows people to sit there not playing a move in hopes that others will give up and leave the game. Not fun. And the final thing that I find kind of annoying is the focus on additional micro transactions. I just bought the game for $5, it’s not really cool to ask me to pay $18 more to get an expansion now and two more sometime in the distant future. It’s weird that the expansions each cost more than the entire game itself, especially considering they only add a few additional cards. I’m not terribly impressed..JDny80Version: 0.0.10

Not good because of one important thingMy sincere review When I create a room with my friends to play, I should be able to decide how many cards there can be in a deck to draw from. The game currently only let you draw from a deck of 15 cards even when you’re the host of the room, making the game really short and is not enjoyable to play with friends. In 2-3 minutes or sometimes even less, a match is done. I hope the game developers allow us to draw from a deck of at least 30 cards or how many cards we want to or in the best scenario, we can adjust what cards are in the deck when you’re the host of the room playing with friends. Reasonable really funI know you have to purchase more cards to get more decks but at least it’s cheap depending on if more decks are actually what you want but even when you are just dealing with the base cards the other outfits and other things or just cosmetics and I like how you can purchase them on their own just in case, but in an update something bad happened you could also say it’s good? depending on your worldview. first, if you want to purchase anything, you won’t be able to access it off-line. no Wi-Fi you just got the exploding kittens deck, and the base cosmetics you have to have a bubble account to even purchase anything, but I say it’s fun, but make sure you have Wi-Fi before booting up the game or else you’ll have to sign in again please make it so not only it’s saved to your bubble account but also your device I don’t mind if you have to pay for extra features as long as I need to keep them even was at Wi-Fi.Willie_d_1018Version: 0.0.31

A Legendary Russian RouletteNow let me just start by saying that I am a huge Exploding Kittens fan, I have 2 core games and 3 expansions to Exploding Kittens and I have a lot of their other games like Throw Throw Burrito and Why Are You Like This. So even if I’m probably bias, I still think it’s so fun, the cards are way more fun than the first mobile game plus the music makes it so fun and goofy. I also like how there is online so I’m able to go against anyone and that I can play with friends. I guess if I had to nitpick, it’s kinda sad that there are no expansion pack cards but that’s just a nitpick. Amazing Game!This game is amazing but once when I didn’t have the expansion pack, I tried to play imploding kittens with my friend (who did buy the expansion) but when I joined his game it kicked me out because I did not have the expansion pack, so I bought it later. I think the new decks are very fun but I can only play them with AI or strangers because (other than the guy I mentioned earlier) none of ny friends or family have bought the game or the expansion because it is under a paywall. Bad controlsI love this game and bout it and the expansion pack when it was on sale. The game is very fun, animations are great, and I love how many card desks they are going to add in the future. The only issue that needs to be fixed is the co trolls. They need to be made clearer about how to play cat cards because I have lost multiple games by trying to play a two of a kind and it keeps showing me what it does. Then it makes me draw an exploding kitten and I lose. Did Not Dissapoint!I know I gave 4 stars, don’t get me wrong, this game is amazing, a huge stepup from exploding kittens the first. Buggy and Game duration is quick.The deck is very small, games do not last long. When you draw an exploding kitten as the first card it isn't supposed to count, but on the app it does. The game is buggy as to be expected since it is two days old. I seriously hope the developers increase the deck size that is my man issue. Some of the added features are cool some are unnecessary and take up too much of the time. Also you are no longer able leave a game once you lose, you have to stay and watch, I hope this changes regardless your space will not change once you are out. Great game, but options neededI love this game. It’s. Lot of fun and I can share in game purchases with my family so we can all play on our phone or iPad. I wish we could hold onto our selections between games (costume, background, card back, and emoji bubbles). It’s super frustrating that we need to reset them after every hand. Also, if we are playing against the computer and we implode/explode, we need to watch the rest of the game or get point deductions. The animation and game play that is not between two human players needs to go quicker. Super fun!It took me a minute to get used to the new interface since I was so used to the original but now I really love this new version. I do wish the cards were more visible during game play - they are partially cut off even when it’s your turn so could be confusing to new players. I also wish I could use my Apple Pencil with it so hopefully that will be a feature in the future. Great but…Game is really fun but have a few issues to make it fantastic. More often than not when I shuffle, the next card is an exploding kitten I have yet to play a Nope card when the other players try to steal from my hand. Omg yesThis game brought me back to exploding kittens! This game has so much charm from the animation to the funny little emojis. Fun Game, AI Can Be DumbOne annoying bit is the AI is dumb when playing by yourself. There will be one card left (obviously exploding kitten), and the AI will play 5 cards in a row like see the future, shuffle the deck, etc multiple times. Great game but glitchy at times.I am obsessed with this game! I can play it for hours! I have had issues with it glitching out on my though. Specifically when I steal/ get cards stolen from me. Sometimes the cat paw gets stuck on the screen and it doesn’t leave for the entirety of the game. Slow and Buggy but with PromiseI really want to like this but it is kinda buggy and terribly slow. The animations are fun but they force the game to slow down and meander along. Please fixI love this game but I hate a few things about it. First there’s so many glitches. For example, when’s you use see the future and there’s 3 bombs. Your screen is stuck there. Great game, great cardsAn amazing improvement on the previous game. The new cards are greats, I love that you can have a solo game with multiple opponents, also that you can get all the expansions at once. I think that compared to the first game the pace is very slow mostly because of the animations who takes forever (even if they are nice, they are slow) also if you lost a game the game penalize you for leaving after loosing. You must watch the game (even in the solo mode …) if you don’t want to be penalized. I really don’t care who is winning if that person is not me, and specially if it’s two bots. Also if there is only exploding kittens remaining in the draw pile the game also asks you where to put the card after defusing which is pointless, when only exploding kittens remain defuse should play as a skip. Take the same game and instead of real improvements, get your entire user base to buy the game again, stuffed full of addiction gamification using a point system and then force everyone to sign up for a new “Bubble” multiplayer account in order to use core game functionality. Fun, but some issuesA really great, playful video game adaption of the amazing card game but there are some technical issues I’ve noticed. Firstly the brand new timer function. It’s a very good feature, but I’ve found that when I’m the first to start the game, my match will still be doing all the card shuffle animations and the timer is ticking down and I have to pick up a card with no option to play anything. Another issue with the timer is when in certain nope situations. Say I get hit with an attack card, I play my attack card, there have been a few instances where I get noped and get seconds to react with my next card before the timer forces me to pick up a card. This has lost me a few games.. another issue I have run into is from one of my most recent games. Someone put down a 3 of a kind and asked me for a see the future card and the game didn’t tell them I didn’t have it. So I waited out the timer and IT GIVES THEM MY SHUFFLE CARD?? Some good improvements but inferior to the originalI’ve never felt so compelled to write a review before. I bought the original game and expansion packs, and I was sad to see that they had decided to release this new version instead of focusing on improving the original. Is this a ploy to get users to make a new purchase rather than releasing free updates? My biggest complaint about the original was the lack of the option to pick more than 1 AI during single-player games. This has been fixed in this second edition. However, literally everything else about this new version is worse. The card graphics are much harder to read. This isn’t just because of the primacy effect and having a preference for the original. The graphics of the first edition were simplistic and easy to read, but this version is not. The animations are also much more elaborate, making gameplay slower and more tedious. Wanted to Like ItI love the original exploding kittens app and was super eager to buy its sequel! I was fond of all the emotes, characters, graphics, of the the OG game. The pace of the gameplay for the OG version was also workable for a quick game, a few with friends, or an hour or so if I got carried away. The new game loses the charm of the Exploding Kittens physical game and the app. The graphics and animation are more advanced, but they emphasize the grotesque aspects of the game which makes it hard to look at. The gameplay is faster, yet each action is punctuated by extra animation which makes an individual turn take longer. The characters don't look fun, and the classic emotes are all missing (no more spamming "lololol" or using the emotes as a social tactic) in lieu of five graphic emotes. In addition, you have to make an account through a third-party platform (Bubble) in order to play with strangers of friends. Overall, version 2 is a letdown. It does, however, include a way to view game queues. This means you're not waiting an unknown amount of time to play with the next available group or individual as with the previous app. Again, I really wanted to love this app because of my thorough enjoyment of the first app, but it only makes one improvement and loses the features of the original game that made favorable gameplay with charming graphics..Anonymous___________________Version: 0.0.8

A step backwards from the first…Improvements to the graphics and audio but that came at the cost of playability. The game frequently misses finger swipes and has regular crashes when you keep trying to get the same swipe to work. Playing a card is not easy like in the first game. I feel like I am fighting my screen. There are lots of “filler”graphics that slow the game down. Stop with those. Just let me play a card and move the game forward. I don’t want to watch that cloud thing again for the 100th time. It doesn’t make the game better. Worst part: There is at least another $20 of in-game purchases to get the “full” game. Fun game, but the AI players are ridiculous and the game is not efficient on iPhone…I’ve played this game for months with family and friends, and we really enjoy it a lot amongst each other…but trying to play with others online is basically impossible, as the spots get filled with AI players who don’t play with any skill or logic to the game itself…instead just throwing random cards into play chaotically. Disappointed :(My boyfriend and I were very excited to play this when it came out, but immediately when we started playing we noticed that the game was buggy and the animations feel way too slow. Super buggy, redesign makes the game take way longerWhile I appreciate attempting to create new art with the 3d animations, holy smokes this game takes so long to play waiting for them. So much animation is wasting timeThere should be a way to turn off the unnecessary animations. Players dont need to be told it’s their turn with a sliding character animation every single time. Waiting for the character’s hand to flip the card over is also a time-sucker. Waiting until after that animation to move a card makes players want to turn off the game. It should be a fast moving game like in real life. Animations prior and post game is enough. Hand-holding through each draw should be an option for new players, not forced upon all. DisappointedI was hyped when this was announced and had high expectations considering $4.99 price. The game feels clumsy compared to first exploddin kitten game. The animations are way longer than necessary. The time limit given to the players to make a move is way longer. It should be shorten to match previous game. Players abuse this wait time hoping others leave the game. Also, the customized avatars and emotes are cool, but the voice expression were much better. The avatar once selected doesn’t get saved - I have to customize the look I want every single time I open the app. This is a good start but can be better. That and they’ve got rid of all the voicelines in the first game. Here’s the areas I’m a little disappointed in though. I bought the expansion packs in the first game so I was a little disappointed that the cards didn’t carry over to the new game. Well actually it did it’s just locked behind a 10 dollar paywall which will hurt matchmaking with other players online to where if you bought those packs you won’t be able to play them online just like the first game. My recommendation is to let anyone join a game with the person that owns it rather it be quick play or the custom lobby menu that way players that bought it aren’t penalized for buying it and players that didn’t buy it can try it out and see if they would enjoy it before they purchase it. The other one is character customization. What happened to the cat icons? There’s a progression bar but there is no customization for playing the game. Since all players bought the game this would’ve been a good opportunity to reward people who still play the game to unlock costumes, boards or card packs the more they play it to incentivize your card community to keep coming back to the app. This could be like every rank up that the game currently offers as a reward for continually playing the game while offering players an express purchase way to skip the whole ranking system. Next, I recommend orienting the cards so it’s straight in front of the player. Let’s make it easier to read. In the first game each card had their own sound effects. It’s minor but it gives additional charm to the game. The last recommendation I have is to be able to just hold on top of your hand to see th card and its animation while you hover over it. Lose? Still gotta watch the AI playI love the original EK! One of my favorite apps ever. However, this version is laggy, not sensitive to touch and dragging, and boring. There’s very little variation in the two different gameplay packs, and it was $5... My biggest gripe is that you can lose (without any potential to be revived or brought back into the game) and you’re penalized if you leave. That’s so silly. You’re not harming the other players by bouncing after death. What’s the benefit if players stay? So slowAn OK game but needs lots of fixes. The animation and confirmation to place an Exploding Kitten card when there is only one card left, or all of the cards are Exploding Kittens, is pointless. You have to confirm the position that you’re placing the card back even though there’s only one way for the cards to be played. Also sometimes the nope card stays in your hand when you play it - a huge advantage for you as a player but a huge disadvantage if you are the opponent. Lots of fun; but..Honestly kind of annoying. This version has had so many bugs that break the match or mess up gameplay. One specific one (might be because I’m on iOS 18.1) is that when I try to give a player a card they want from me it just wont register me drawing and handing the card over. Great Effort, But Unplayable Due to Tiny FontsI really enjoyed the first Exploding Kittens as an occasional distraction and wanted to support the developer by trying Exploding Kittens 2. A Disappointing Sequel With Paywalls and Missing Features1) I bought the expansion pass to host games like in the original, but now each player needs to buy the new card deck for $5. Animation and see the future.The overall game art is really good but there 2 really major problem. First, the animations are way too long it doesn’t add any value to the game it’s just dissatisfying.
