Great app but one minor problemSpelling Bee is a great app. When I first bought it, things were going great. However, when I was joining the 5th grade class it asked me to buy it. I don’t like that. You should just be able to go into every class freely. Also when you are getting into either the app or settings, it asks you for your password. Honestly, I don’t mind that problem that much, but it would be nice to have a change. Overall, this app is an AWESOME app, and I would recommend it to people who have an interest in spelling. Freezes in Media PickerLove that you can add your own spelling lists, but when I go to change default pictures given to my words, the "Media Picker" has started freezing on me. What should take a few minutes takes forever, and I have given up on changing the pictures. Just for more fun, today I finally got the media picke web search to populate to choose a new picture for the word South. I clicked on a compass rose and when it expanded to full size, it was a marijuana leaf. It happened three times in a row with different pictures. About a week ago, I put in a new list and let the app populate default pictures. As I clicked through to preview/change individual pictures, I found a picture of a man's mid-section with his hand down his pants. Um, might want to work on your default picture selections. Amazing but flawedI think that this app is amazing for people that need to study for tests or even the Spelling bee😊! Good, but still needs improvement.It’s a bit annoying that it forces us to enter a 3-digit child-lock passcode to get into anything (as though our child can’t read the spelling out of the numbers!). Also, when you enter your own spelling words in for your child to play the games, there are frequently lots of errors where the actual word they are testing on doesn’t match up with the word that the audio recording announces. Not great, but not too badI downloaded this app to study for my school spelling bee. I spent like 15 minutes putting my words into the create board thing, but then I thought I had lost them. I hadn’t tho so it’s not a big deal or anything. Also, sometimes you get audio and sometimes you just get a picture and I couldn’t find a way to change that on settings, which was annoying. Custom Board BugBe patient when adding custom words. If the green arrow lights up, that means the app has the pronunciation. If not, you have to touch the red circle and add your own. It may also take a couple seconds (like 10-20) after the pronunciation is established because it’s looking for a picture to add to the word. If you press next and it doesn’t go right away, I’ve found that this is the case. Also, some of the pronunciations are actually definitions. Not for creating listsI suppose if you are looking for pre selected lists this may be helpful. Or if the only words you need to study are basic K-2 already listed in app. This is the only way I can imagine the amount of positive reviews it has received. Trying to study for your spelling list at school or creat your own is a disaster of time suckage. In theory, to add words specific to you or your child, add a picture, add a description and have a test plus games would be amazing! In reality you will add words, pictures and boards just to find that they disappear. I have spent hours trying to create lists only to have them revert back to empty or the default (bizarre) picture. The app crashes every 15 min or so and locks up periodically. Trust me I have tried everything! Like I said, if it worked it would be great! Unfortunately the program is just not there. This goes for all Bitsboard apps, I have tried several in past years, upgraded to PRO several times to no avail. Don’t do what my family did, we wasted many hours and money. Tried again this week (2/2/20) to set up a board, spent at least 2 hrs, only to have the board disappear then reappear with half the words and back to the “default” pictures. DisappointedAt first, I thought this app would be a great way to study for my upcoming spelling bee. But unfortunately, when I tried to join a class, it charged me $5. I think that you should be able to join classes freely. When I got into the app, it only let me have one board to use. I would suggest including more free boards to use. It is an awesome idea, but it could be executed better. I do like the many different spelling games though. Another problem was the homophones. One of the words was “weight” and I was playing the spelling bee minigame. They play a recording of the word, so I didn’t know if it meant “wait” or “weight”. I typed “wait” and it counted it as wrong. There should be a sentence option where you can see the word in a sentence. Again, in the true or false minigame, it showed the word “wait”. I knew that it was the correct spelling of the word “wait”, so I pressed true. But I was told that I was incorrect. They meant “weight”. No sampleThis app implies there is some measure of sample when it allows a download without purchase. This is the customary function of the Get button in the App Store. After downloading to the phone, nothing can be played without first paying $4.99. I would have happily paid that price for spelling software I was happy with but I will not being giving any money to a developer that won’t give me even a sample, especially after I downloaded the app under the impression there would be at least something to see how the game worked. Either use the Get button, give a sample and option to unlock the rest of he app or put the price up front before download with better examples and explanation of why the app is worth the money up front. On top of that, I couldn’t even get a profile properly set up without internal error messages demanding a password. Please Fix This..This spelling game is a really fun and helpful game. There are a lot of varieties of games all in one that will help your spelling. There are things such as spelling bee, word builder, word search, etc. There are minor issues in the game that cause me not to get 100%. One example is in the Spelling Bee. It says “wait” so I type in “wait”. It says it wrong so I check the answers and it’s “weight”. How am I suppose to know which one it is?! Freeze, Restart, RepeatFreezes when making list after word is entered and app is (automatically) searching for an image. The images given to choose from are not always going to be the image you get once you’ve selected it. Even if you search the web. Example: You search: dragon Images shown: giant, red fire breathing dragon, you click it You get: a tiny, green, sleepy toy lizard It’s a bit frustrating. With all of these glitches and multiple children in multiple grade levels means that this app takes a lot of time to work with and may not get much use. I love the idea of it and hope the developers can work out these glitches. It would also be helpful if there was an exercise for sentences and definitions. Well Put App with Frustrating IssuesThe concept and implementation is good, however there are some clear issues. The most glaring one is the lack of any context for words in “Spelling Bee” mode. How is a user supposed to differentiate between “cup” and “cop” or “their” and “there” without a definition or an example of usage in a sentence?
