Monument Valley 2 Positive Reviews
Beautiful Game made for Young KidsMy personal rating is a 3/5 stars, but I can’t in good conscience rate such a beautifully created game backed by a hardworking developer team with such amazing art and music that horribly officially. If you want a good experience I recommend either only playing Monument Valley the Original or playing this one first before playing the original. It might give you a few aha! moments and this game will ease you into the first one. Monument Valley 2 is to me a almost entirely remodeled game aimed at kids, with only slight references to the 1st game. It is so unbelievably easy I can solve most puzzles with little to no thinking and the story is so (much more) straightforward and obvious compared to the first game. The game was so unbelievably easy and the levels were so short or streamlined that I found the whole thing a little irritating. The graphics are also a lot simpler than the original one, which had huge complicated structures and beautiful backgrounds. This one has solid colors as the background, with skinny camels for structures for your character to walk on. Although it is understandable though because too much on the screen to focus on may confuse younger audiences, it is frustrating to go through. All in all a very simple game, the first one took a considerable amount of time to complete, as for this one, I spent about an hour and a half, mainly limited because of the time it takes to walk through the puzzles. Taking time to think took significantly less time than walking everywhere..Version: 2.0.4
I can't even take it all inI can't explain how fascinated I am at the overall design of this game. A true masterpiece. The visuals were so amazing. One moment you're in a dark, gloomy atmosphere, and then you enter the door and appear in a new, bright environment with a different lighting and vibrant colors and it all just looks beautiful. These transitions I find to be so amazing. Games don't have to be consistent with the mood and feeling the player gets while playing, variety like this is what makes the game unique. Another thing is the sound, I'm a huge enthusiast on sound. Beautiful sounds aren't always music, the simple sound effects of the turning of cranks and stairs is also important and this game does an amazing job at showing it. What I did especially impress me is how the turning of cranks and spinning of platforms have a certain depth of sound to them. The faster you move the object, the faster, louder, and more detailed the sound effects and music sound is also breathtaking. But what really impressed me the most is how at the end of the level, you create your own little symbol to place on the platform and in the frame of the level in the level selection to signify completion, and tha game takes your random gibberish twists and swirls, and processes it to create a moving, animated piece of art. How you could program a game to do that is simply remarkable. I overall LOVED this game and I hope this isn't the last game like this you guys make. Keep up the good work, because there are many people that appreciate the work you guys put into these games as much as I do..Version: 1.0.2
LOVE ITTTTT!!!!❤️❤️❤️Although the creators probably have them already, and I haven’t finished the game yet, I have storylines for the characters. The little girls name to me is farren, meaning journey and venture. Every mom, starting with ida, (yes, I wrote her story too!) must continue her (ida’s)quest for forgiveness by teaching their daughter about the valley and monuments and how to navigate them. Lilly, as I call her, the storyteller was a girl who met ro on the quest when they were little and had just left their moms. Usually, people split up on quests and they are usually solitary, but she was lost and found ro. They traveled through the quest together until Lilly became the storyteller. This is all I have now, and like I said, I haven’t finished the game, but I love this app and everyone should get it ❤️ Oops I am just now editing this and when I wrote it I hadn’t finished the game yet but now I have and some details are a little off. Like Lilly, as I call her, is actually Ro’s mom. And they are trying to restore the monuments that Ida ruined, not trying to continue the quest. I still like the name Farren though. And, to the person who wrote the review on the first game that said it was ruined by the story, YOU were ruined by the story! Need some sunscreen for dat BURN? ( omg I’m sorry I’m horrible at this😑) But yeah I really liked the story and thought it was beautiful, but I’m actually just a weird, quirky and creative little girl who comes up with stories every minute of the day, so a lot of people probably don’t agree with me, so I respect your opinion and everyone else's, but I still think the story is beautiful. Monument valley (1&2) for life!!!!😆😆😆🦅<—- this is as close I could get to a crow.Version: 1.2.9
Sequel Falls Short of ExpectationsAs a huge fan of the first game and forgotten shores, this second installment did nothing to raise the standard set by the first. The art and music were on point, but the levels themselves were shorter, simpler, and far less intriguing than those in the first. The difficulty/complexity of the first game made it rewarding to play and also increased the playtime such that retrospectively I’d have happily paid twice the asking price to download the first... on the other hand I’d tell anyone who hasn’t played these to only buy the first and forgotten shores and skip MV2 (or play it first). MV2 also seemed to have a smaller set of puzzle mechanics. Typically in this game you are limited to rotating platforms and sliding platforms. In MV1 you had these, but you also manipulated the entire map relative to camera angle, redirected water flows, channeled bird people to/from switches etc. The only new mechanic in this game was having two characters that you could direct which ultimately functioned as an easier version of the NPC birds or smaller version of the block friend you work with. In short, the first game had puzzles, clever mechanics, presented a challenge and had a compelling storyline. MV2 felt like a reader rabbit game; a children’s interactive storybook with simple references to the original. The first game involved multiple sessions of play, this one I finished in under an hour..Version: 1.2.15
Confusing storyline.THIS GAME IS THE BEAT GAME OF ALL TIME!!!! I thought the first one was good, and then this one came!! As soon as I saw it in the App Store, I bought it! It was so fun! The levels were just the right amount of challenging, not to easy not to hard, but I have a few minor suggestions: the main thing I didn’t like was that the story lines are not clear. I have so many questions about MV1 and MV2. Is Ida the queen or princess of the crows? Why did she go on that whole adventure? Who was that ghost lady and why does she call Ida a “ thieving princess”. What is the ghost lady even talking about? And what does totem pole guy have to do with it? The story line in MV2 was a little clearer, but it had nothing to do with the first one. Is Ro’s child Ida? Is Ro the ghost in MV1? Why does Ro have to leave her child? What were all the little sparks coming out of Ro’s hat? And I was also kind of disappointed when there were no bonus levels in MV2. In MV1 their was Idas dream and forgotten shores but there were none in MV2. But otherwise I loved it! Please consider what I said if you are going to make MV3 (which I hope you do) thank you 4 reading!.Version: 1.2.9
A beautiful gameI struggled a bit with how to rate this game. Most likely if you’re reading this you’ve already played the first Monument Valley. Let me affirm what others have said in that this is an easier game in terms of mechanics. However the game is very beautiful, more so than its predecessor, in terms of art, gameplay, and story. I was a bit perturbed by the ease at which I solved it, however I can’t in good conscience rate this less than 5 stars. As a stand-alone title it is superb and absolutely gorgeous. The philosophy of the story is extremely whimsical and almost meditative in its beauty. The fact that the difficult is less than the first may turn off some to which I understand, however I have no problem paying the price for a title like this on iOS. If this game came first it would be met with the same acclaim the predecessor had. If I were to recommend this series to someone I would advise they start here and then go back and try the first one plus expansions. All in all, it’s a fantastic puzzle game filled with rich art and animation..Version: 1.2.15
Thank youIn a time where mobile games are perceived as quick cash grabs, I’m genuinely happy to see a team out there who dedicated this much effort and love into their game. The geometric puzzles are always a joy to solve, never too hard nor too easy, but just with the right amount of challenge. The further I progressed into the game, the more I grew fond of the characters. The game’s art style and visuals are absolutely gorgeous. I’ve tried a plethora of mobile games, but none were this close to beautiful. The best part wasn’t me playing through the game, but seeing my own mother, who haven’t played anything more than one or two mobile games in her life, walk through the game by herself (and occasionally asking for help for a really challenging puzzle!). Not only did the developers manage to make a great game, but they managed to do so while catering to both avid and casual gamers. To the team behind this masterpiece, I want to tell you that me and my mother, and many others I’m sure, can’t wait to visit the world of Monument Valley once again..Version: 1.2.15
AWESOME😁Monument valley is one of my favorite games. I saw this app in one of those apple stores where they let you play on the tablets and phones. Since then I kept and kept looking and looking for it on the AppStore. The moment I started playing that was it... I was hooked. I saw the second version and I knew that I NEEDED to get it. And to all those people that said the storyline was boring, I have something to say to you. This storyline was about the same character as in the fist one. And the child was her daughter, which means that the storyline in both apps connect which I love . I think not a lot of you knew that because you didn't take the hint when under one of the levels names it said "In which Ro ____ an old friend" (I forgot the other part) .The old friend that it was referring to was the block dude which was in fact in the first version. I LOVE this game so much that I would like to see version 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, (one day later) and version 100,000!!!! P.S. I cried many times during this... Mkay bye😜.Version: 1.0.2
Great! But...I loved monument valley, and monument valley 2 is a very good game, however the levels weren't as challenging and they felt really short. Plus, the storyline was lacking. From what I can gather it is a mother teaching her daughter the ways of something so that one day she can take over. You rapidly aged the little girl and I felt that was unnecessary. I know it is meant to imply the passage of time, but I felt it took away from the game. We don't learn anything about the ghosts?? Or temple guardians?? What is their purpose? Why are they there? I thought it would also somehow tie into the first game. A little disappointed. I don't want to leave on a bad note, so I would like to say I did enjoy the game and I had a lot of fun with it. I look forward to a monument valley 3 hopefully, or perhaps a game that happens very early in the timeline of this universe and explains why everything is now in ruins. As always, coloring and graphics are amazing! Great job to the design team and artists who worked hard on it. Overall, i love the game and will continue to play monument valley in the future. Good job guys! Sincerely, A loyal fan <3.Version: 1.0.2
Like active meditationDuring the end of my semester I was stressed and would take breaks by going for a walks and smoking a cigar. I came across this game (if you can call it a game) and it became this relaxing time I would take away from studying. It’s not a strategy, you can’t die and you don’t collect points; In other words, there’s nothing creating a tension forcing you to want to keep playing. Just the opposite, I find I don’t want to spend all my time on the game so I can save a level for another Time. The levels become precious moments of peace that I didn’t want to hastily consume. This doesn’t mean there isn’t smarts involved. You are forced to look at the pathway differently in order to see there are more ways to travel than the most flat and straight road. It’s Penrose stairs come to life. It’s a relaxing joy to find the alternate path and more so when you can see the options like you’re in the matrix. I can feel the tension in my shoulders relax and the knot in my chest loosen when I play this game. You can’t play stressed because it’s not fast paced. Play with the intention to relax and you will become relaxed. It’s immensely enjoyable and therapeutic. I only hope they keep making levels and add ons because this has become a treat that I savor and I’m running out with no more supply after I finish MV2 😬 I'm getting stressed thinking about it... Better go play a level..Version: 1.2.15
Wonderful game, but...The game is wonderful! I had a blast playing this, but after about 1:30 of gameplay it was done. Before I knew it, I saw the credits. No extra content. Only 14 levels. The game demographic is clearly for kids >6, as they would struggle a little. The puzzles and illusions are great, and it really played with my mind. (Especially the last one!) But, the solutions are a little too obvious in some of the levels. The way the game introduces the mechanics is great, and made the game too easy. After you beat the game, they shove the original in your face. I deleted the game after beating it. If you like hard puzzle games, maybe not this one. About 20 minutes of the game for me was hard. If you are starting puzzle games, I truly recommend this. Some of the levels made me say “Woah.” This is no exaggeration. Anyway, this game is awesome and it’s really fun! Thanks for reading this novel, and have fun playing the game! After thought: The price is not really worth the content if you can breeze through these types of games..Version: 1.2.15
Amazing 💙💙I fell in love with Monument Valley the first time I played it. The graphics and the storyline were so beautiful and smooth, I can't help but STILL play the game over and over again today. It is an amazing game. But then, the 2nd Monument Valley came along, and blew the first one out of the water. The second I saw it on the App Store, I ran to my mother (because we're both Monument fans) yelling, " Mom! Mom! They just came out with a Monument Valley 2!" And so I begged her to let me buy it, and she gave in. The second one is just...so...beautiful and moving. The story about the relationship between the mother and daughter was so nice. And seeing the daughter go from very dependent on her mother to now self-sufficient was amazing. The graphics are also even more amazing than the first. And the levels are much more fun and trickier. In the last level, when they reunite, I nearly cried. It is such a moving storyline, with beautiful graphics and awesome new levels to play. Like the first, I still play the game over and over again. If I could rate your app 10 million stars, I would. Trust me. Thank you so much for bringing Monument Valley into my life, ustwo games. They are amazing-awesome-super-duper-great games, so please don't hesitate to make a Monument Valley III!! I cannot wait to see what beautiful game you make next. I will never, ever forget Monument Valley and how stellar it is. Thanks for reading, Alex 💙.Version: 1.0.2
Sound and Visuals, AMAZINGI have been a long time fan of Monument Valley. I love the puzzles in the levels and solving them. When I heard about the sequel, I was very excited to play. I love the soundtrack in Monument Valley 2. The visuals were, how do I say this, monumental (No pun intended). It was absolutely stunning. However, Monument Valley 2 is not perfect. I feel like the story and characters were not as developed. What I got was that a mother was teaching her daughter to navigate through Monument Valley. In one level, I saw a younger Ro ( the mother) and someone who seemed to be her mother, or at least the spirit who talks to Ro, saying goodbye to her daughter. In the last level, Ro, and what I assume to be her ancestors, all welcome back the child who is now fully grown. I don't know if the story takes place before or after Monument Valley 1. Personally, I think that the sound effects and level design made up for it! But I think we all know what made this a 5 star... TOTEM!!!.Version: 1.0.2
Beautiful companion to the first gameAll of the reviewers saying this felt “short” either haven’t played the first game, or have gotten used to it and therefore felt like this was less of a challenge. I disagree. After an hour I haven’t finished it yet and I feel like it’s already on par with the first. The puzzles from MV1 were not that difficult to begin with, but I fell in love with the visuals and UI of it all. If you wanted more of that, it’s all here again. I appreciate the new elements the creators added with the 2-characters gameplay as well as the “drawing” aspect. The environments + story here are simply gorgeous and feel a little more whimsical and upbeat than the first. You could do a WHOLE lot worse for $5 for an evening of this, really... and if you feel like you’ve wasted your time, well you must either be cheap or prefer mindless shooter games. Just tellin’ it like it is..Version: 1.3.6
Better than the first, but......I thought the first was pretty awful, so.... I’m glad this was an improvement over the first so the bundle deal wasn’t completely infuriating, but there still just isn’t much here. The improvement is that one or two levels do actually have some puzzle elements towards the end instead of being an interactive animation straight through. Unfortunately, those are few and far between. Once again, if the “game” had just been categorized differently, it would not have been so disappointing. As it is, you have a great idea and mechanics that don’t have enough actual puzzles involved to fairly classify it as a puzzle game. Lovely, but just okay, not great, though a definite improvement over the first. I still can’t recommend it unless you understand that it’s largely an interactive animation without puzzles until almost the very end and extremely short. If you’re okay with that, give it a try, but I do not recommend the bundle and beg you to skip the first game..Version: 1.2.9
Is this for children?I appreciated this game, but the marketing is misleading, which led to disappointment. I’m not sure if this is meant to be a version of MV for young kids, but it is way, way easier than the original MV. You can do all the levels with minimal thought/attention; there were only one or two times that the way to proceed through the level wasn’t immediately obvious and even then it only took a few seconds of experimentation to figure it out. So for an adult this is more of a relaxation game. Which isn’t bad necessarily, but it should have been made clear in the marketing that this is a simplified version of MV, not a true sequel. I also thought the art was less intricate and interesting than in the original. There were some cool concepts in this version that were new since MV1, like the growing bushes and the landscapes where every feature rotated simultaneously, or the 2-dimensional Mondrian-esque landscape, which I did appreciate..Version: 3.3.1037
Excellent but over too soon.I had a hard time trying to figure out what score to give this game. Ultimately I settled on 3 starts for one reason, it’s much too short for the price. What’s here is an excellent, visually striking, heartwarming puzzle game. The art style is astounding and the music is just present enough to tug at your emotions while sill making things feel quiet and lonely. The puzzles are interesting and unique. None are terribly challenging but they’re all enjoyable. Unfortunately as amazing as this game is it also commits my number 1 gaming sin. There is no replay value at all. The game is about an hour long and once you’ve played through you’re just done. There’s no reason to play it again and seek out extra goodies or collectibles because there aren’t any. $5 is just too much for a 1 hour experience with no replay value. If it were $1 or $2 then I’d say go for it but even though $5 isn’t much it’s a little steep for a game that shows you everything it has to offer in 1 hour..Version: 1.2.9
Not an art game/is an art gameMV2 is absolutely wonderful. Many will expect things that are not there, like endless gameplay or more challenging puzzles. This is an art piece, no question, but not like many "art games" I've played. It has a sweet story to guide the gameplay, and the puzzles are very accessible by most age groups. The new interactions, like the end of level sequence, add such an immersive, satisfying richness. I also adore and admire the art style, and am constantly screengrabbing throughout the game (helpfully built in). I want to say MV1 was more challenging, and that the sequel is less of a game, however I think more it's that MV1 taught me about this new world and how to interact with it. The sequel so perfectly continues that story, and I would gladly continue to purchase more with the same exact outcome. Thank you UsTwo for becoming UsMany and crafting something so beautiful and fun. Keep em coming!!.Version: 1.0.2
Amazing! Love it!I can’t stress enough how much I love this game! I have never given a game a 5 star review, but you deserve it! I love the sound a lot but wish that the new chapter The Lost Forest’s music was in Apple Music. The graphics are simply stunning and breathtaking! I personally like that Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 have not been copied and that you didn’t copy another game. It’s original, creative, beautiful, and satisfying. The puzzles aren’t unsolvable, there are no adds, and so much more! I love the story of the mother and daughter and the storyline, Monument Valley had remarkable soundtracks, graphics, and an understandable storyline. I also liked that once you finished the main levels, you could still do Forgotten Shores and Ida’s dream. I loved that Totem was still in this game and thought it was a nice touch. Thank you for this time! 9 yr old.Version: 2.0.3
Hear me outI agree with what other people have said. There is not A TON of actual gameplay. However, it was definitely enough for me. There are 14 levels in total with a couple of them being very short, but the rest taking me anywhere from 10-25 minutes to complete. I probably spent at least 3 hours on the game in total, so you could probably finish it in one day, but it helps if you do a couple levels each day to make it feel longer. I also agree that the game was not as challenging as the last one. However, it still did challenge me and make me think. There were still a couple of levels I got stuck on for a while. This game focuses on the story and the art. Overall, it is a beautiful game and you will probably enjoy it if you enjoyed the first game. $5 may seem expensive, but it was surely worth it for me..Version: 1.0.2
Beautiful, and Happy I Played, did seem over SO quickly...Maybe I wasn't tearing out my hair on a level like I did the first one...and Monument Valley and the insanely wonderful free one that was made for a charity (what an incredible gift that was and my all time favorite). It just seemed to end to suddenly. It is still wonderful to play. It was lovely, score was well done and the puzzles were a little different so that is great. That said...I still love the series and would so buy again. I replay the first sets but I don't think I would replay this as much. That is just me. I could be having a cranky day....but notice I said "as much"...not that this wouldn't be replayed again later. I wasn't expecting another so this was a lovely little break from reality (or fake reality) so was very welcome. I do think it is worth the price just because it is so unique..Version: 1.0.2
Amazing Game; Can't Wait For The Mac VersionI was a big fan of Monument Valley when it first came out and upon hearing about the release of Monument Valley 2, I immediately downloaded it. I love the introduction of a new character and the implementation of family into the game. It makes the player much more sympathetic with Ro throughout her journey through the Valley simply because of the fact she has a child. It truly is an amazing experience and continues to be my favorite iOS game on the market. That said, I really want the Mac version to be developed and released. With the new Touch Bar, controlling the slider that changes the architectural layout of the mazes would be effortless and using the mouse to point and click where Ro should move next would feel natural. I think a macOS version of this game would complement the already amazing series even more..Version: 1.0.2
Beautiful Masterpiece‼️🥰I don’t understand why this game has somehow managed to attract so many mixed reviews? This epic game is a beautiful masterpiece from start to finish! The music is amazing. 🤩 This is a completely different game from the previous one with new characters, a different story, an upgraded Totem with a portal, a fresh new coating of paint, new sound effects, slick animations and epic music. I appreciate the finer details, such as the controls light up when you use them and the refined sound effects. The sponge tree really surprised me and the mother & daughter story had me smiling the entire time. The development team just delivered a fantastic game & story. There were moments where I was genuinely scratching my head wondering what to do. Did I mention the music? I am in awe over this game. My advice: Ignore the haters who don’t appreciate a beautiful game like this. Monument Valley II is more than optical illusions, sacred geometry and ancient monuments (there is a beautiful story involved). IMPORTANT FEATURES: ✅ - Breathtaking graphics. ✅ - No time limit. ✅ - No game-ending traps. Did I mention the graphics? 🥰 This game is legit!! 🫶🏼 Just buy it! 😁 I absolutely love this game and (hopefully), you will too! 🥰 Recommended: Yes 👍🏼.Version: 3.3.1037
The visuals remain exceptional, but the challenge has diminishedI’m a big fan of the concept: the visual, mind-bending (and moving/actually bending) environments; the complimentary, otherworldly, atmospheric music; the (mostly implied) compelling storyline; and the hours of fun/challenge that can be had solving the geometric, illusion based puzzles that make up each setting/screen along the way. That said, when comparing this version to those previous, much of the challenge—and thus much of the time spent/ needed to solve puzzles and enjoy playing—has been removed. If you’ve played previous iterations, you’ll find most of the solutions repetitively simplistic. Worse yet, some screens/ levels involve no solving whatsoever—it’s simply point, click, and next screen. The result is that much of the enjoyment and value has been stripped away and, although you’re left with many beautiful moments, those moments are ultimately too short lived and relatively unsatisfying..Version: 1.2.15
Amazing gameI you thought the first one was good, then wait until you play this one. The game does not disappoint, bringing in new elements and more stunning colors and visual effects. There is a story, but it didn't fill in much regarding the many questions such as, "Who are these characters and how do they connect to the first game?", "Who are the temple guardians, the four-block beings who help the characters?", among others. The levels were a bit short, but they didn't disappoint. They even added this feature where, at the end of the level, you can draw your own geometric figure, which I thought was very nice. The sound effects when you move blocks, move things up and down, and rotate platforms is actually quite satisfying. Overall, this game has absolutely stunning art, great levels, and, even though it's very small, a nice story. Great work, ustwo games..Version: 1.0.2
Beautiful but too simple and too shortThe bar was set very high for the sequel, but unfortunately the first one was better. The first one was memorable, and this one is quickly forgotten. I find myself not interested in the storyline in this sequel. Sure, there's a mother and child, but it's too predictable and cliche. Also, the levels are too short and too simple. The first one made me scratch my head at times and got the difficulty just right. I could overlook the lack of depth on the first one because it was a small team. Now, you have a much larger development team and a lot more money. This game should be deeper and more intriguing than it is. I hope ustwo keeps making games, but maybe branch out in a new direction for the next game, because the novelty is wearing off fast. I instantly purchased this game based on your brand, but if you make Monument Valley 3, I will most likely not buy it until I've read reviews..Version: 1.0.2
Unique, Beautiful, Mind BendingTo start I just want to say that I don’t write many reviews for games. But once in a rare while a game comes along that completely blows me out of the water and I feel obligated to write a review. This game is one of the most beautiful games on the App Store right now. From its unique art style to its exquisite soundtracks, this game delivers from start to finish. The levels are hand crafted with new mind bending puzzles and features (although not as difficult as the first). This combined with an impactful story makes it one of my favorite mobile games i have ever played. The only complaint I have about this game is that I wanted more. But hopefully, like they did with the first, a new DLC will be released, encapsulating us in this beautiful world once more. Completely worth the buy..Version: 1.2.9
Amazing game!! Here's what you need to know:(a little short) before you get mad i know that they might add more to it like they did with the first game, which i loved. this is one of my favorite games ever!! it's beautiful and has an interesting story and i'll let it go for being short because the is the SECOND one and the first had more than one actual game. DEFINITELY get this but if you're debating for 1 or 2 do the first and get more gameplay!! i always get sad when it's over cause it's just sooo good!! it's such an interesting puzzle game with lots of thought!! (tip for creators: for #1 i always had to look up walk throughs because it was a bit of a challenge, a good one, but this time i didn't need to, it felt easier!! but it was still a great challenge, thanks!!).Version: 1.0.2
Creative Genius...but..I’m so tempted to give this game a 5. It’s super creative and beautiful, was truly in awe at times and surprised at the great amount of imagination that went into creating some of these levels. BUT, three things. 1) The game is simply tooo easy. I mindlessly completely some of the levels, and although at times I had to think a bit harder, I was never lost or without a clue (like in most puzzle genre games), which may or may not be a good thing depending on how challenging you want the game to be. I was expecting more in terms of difficulty. 2) One thing that brings me to purchase and play games on my iPhone, as opposed to opening Netflix/hbo or social media or reading, is a good story. I thought their would be more interaction between the parent and child. A more story driven adventure. 3) This is comparatively minor fault, but in trying to draw the gamers attention to the details of these levels’ worlds (I.e. footsteps, the sounds of the environment’s creatures, the sounds of the structure’s moving parts) the game is pretty quiet. Too quiet. I wish music like the one playing on the home screen would play during the actual gameplay. Regardless of these 3 observations, however, this game is beautiful. Hats off to the devs!.Version: 1.2.15
Wonderful game but should be free given the amount of contentI finished the entire game in under 2 hours. Yes it is beautiful, yes it is engaging, and as far as the graphics and sounds go I think I like it even more than the original, but I don’t see how they can justify charging $6.99 for a complete game that feels like a first chapter. Another excellent puzzle game The Room has much more to do with even more detail and it’s $0.99. It’s even simpler than its predecessor which is $3.99, and isn’t challenging at all the way games should be. I wasn’t stuck even once I felt like I was just walking through the app. If it was marketed as a meditation program it would be more justifiable, but even so an app this one note with nothing left to do just two hours into it should be at most $1.99 or at least have more chapters coming soon or available for purchase..Version: 1.3.6
One of the most beautiful games everThis game is so visually pleasing and craftily constructed. You can tell so much effort was put into creatively placing each level. Every illusion of depth and their wonderful ways of defying laws of physics are each inspiring. The only reason I gave 1 Star is because besides all of that... there is no challenge at all. It’s almost like a animated story... without much story. I really think they design the visual aspects of each level first and then put puzzles into it. Which is backwards. But maybe that’s how it has to be done with illusions like this. I played the first one and felt the same way. I really hope they up their game on the third one. Or maybe add extra packs that are more difficult. There is so much potential!.Version: 1.2.9
Beautiful, as always, but not as good as the firstI still feel it is such a unique game that just transports you with its hauntingly beautiful graphics and sound...this game is beautiful, just like the first one. I thought it was also unique and interesting to introduce two characters and at a later stage allow them to be independent. Also enjoyed the stages where they're together but they'd get separated in the course and you'd have to make sure to move the mom specifically, so the daughter goes the same direction, even if she's in a different floor. Having said that, I walked away most of the levels feeling that it was lacking and too short. It seems easier than the first, though, the first wasn't hard either. It just made me say, what....that's it, when the credits started to roll..Version: 1.0.2
Loved the first one and this one absolutely outdid itFor whatever reason I missed that this game had two sequels! I just beat this one in a single evening and man... visually stunning, bits of poetry to ponder, cool set pieces and new mechanics, a gorgeous and genuinely moving soundtrack by Todd Baker (his musical sound design work is amazing, he worked on Tearaway, Dreams and LBP), and the puzzles felt fresh and intuitive with just enough difficulty to give me pause and make me feel smart and satisfied with the solution but not enough to frustrate me to take me out of the game (I'm too stupid for Baba is You lol). Anyway fantastic game I would easily pay $15 just for the experience even though it's a short iOS game. Please use headphones!!!.Version: 3.10.604
Mother-Daughter Feels and Gorgeous GameplayAfter playing Monument Valley II, I am a changed person. The game deals with the reality of letting go for mother and daughter as one is in the afternoon of her life while the other approaches twilight. Feelings of wabi-sabi-esque loneliness and the sheer joy of reunion are expressed by simplistically beautiful and dynamic characters. I recently returned home after four years of college and I now understand my Mom’s half of that experience because of a mobile game. Other than the amazing storyline, this game has a gorgeous soundtrack that sets the mood along with several different sound effects that correspond with the visuals. The puzzles are complicated but not impossible to keep users interested. When in doubt, think outside the box!.Version: 1.2.15
Great but could have been so much betterFirst off before any negatives, the game is a must play. The soundtrack and art design is top notch and deserves an award. If this wasn't a sequel to my favorite iOS game I would have given it 5⭐️, but alas it had a lot to live up to. Usually on mobile games when you are presented with a new ability/technique, you are given roughly 3 easy chances to use said technique to understand the usage and possibilities. Then you are given several levels that get increasingly difficult to challenge you. In MV2 you are given a new technique and those few easy chances to use it but then that's it and it's on to a new thing already. It's beautiful for sure but overall this one felt more like a beautiful slideshow than an actually game. I just wish it was as challenging as the first one. Looking forward to the DLC though!.Version: 1.0.2
Just Amazing.I loved the first Monument Valley so much. I love the deep aspect to this game. The art style is beautiful and the game is so calming, and it actually has emotion to it. I would highly recommend getting the first and second Monument Valley, if you haven't already. The game is so beautiful and peaceful, and it's a puzzle game. It's shocking that a puzzle game and a very indie game actually fit together. You would just want to sit there and play for ever. Monument Valley had a sad part in it, but also happy parts. You actually got feelings for the characters, and you felt like you were actually in the game. It just blew my mind, and Monument Valley || had just blown my mind again. Overall, this game is just amazing, and it's creators are very clever, creative people. Props..Version: 1.0.2
FunWhen I first saw this game, I didnt think of it much. But when I was feeling under the weather, I was bored and saw this game again. The second time I saw it, I got obsessed especially when seeing both the trailers of M1 and 2 with sound on. After waiting for approval from my parents to download, I had a fun and relaxing time playing this game and watching videos about it along with M1. What I like about this game is that it’s beautiful, easy, great soundtrack, and good story. The only thing that needs improvement to this game is that maybe add 8 more additional chapters and not just the lost forest; like how M1 has Forgotten Shores for $2.99 along with Ida’s dream. But overall very good game..Version: 3.3.1037
Beautiful But Way Too EasyI only just played through the first one last week and found it enchanting and incredible. The levels were so complex, I sometimes found myself simply marveling. I got stuck several times, eventually figuring it out without external help. Now here we are with number 2. I'm on level nine and have breezed through it. I like the story well enough; it's sweet. But the same level of craftsmanship that would make Escher proud just isn't there. If you just love the series, you'll want to get it anyway. There are some very cute references to number one you'll enjoy, but don't expect the same wow factor or difficulty level. I really hope they update later versions with more puzzles at no charge; doesn't live up to high standard the first creates..Version: 1.0.2
Loved it! 😁👍Please please PLEASE make a third!!!! I love this game so much, of course the first in a series is always the best; but I think the second one is just as good! The graphics are stunning, and you want to explore their world. So a third Monument Valley would be amazing!!! I really like the other concepts you had for the second one, but I’m happy that you narrowed it down to a mother and a child. I highly recommend this game, even though it costs money. It is worth every penny! Thank you so much for making such a thrilling experience. And please consider making a third! P.S. I really love those pillar creatures, they are so cute but brave at the same time! They are just so loyal and willing to follow their friends, even to the end..Version: 1.2.9
Beautiful, Short, So, So EasyI wanted to truly love this game, I really did. But just like the original, it ends so quickly without offering any truly difficult puzzles. You can solve most of them instantly just by walking around to the obvious button. The few puzzles that weren't completely obvious took at most 5 minutes to solve. There are some incredible mechanics but instead of using them to create a difficult puzzle, it's all purely eye candy with no substance. The game really is beautiful, but there simply wasn't any challenge to it which leads to it being over all too quickly without being all that satisfying. At the end I was like "really? That's it? I wanted to have some actual puzzles to challenge me." Oh well, it was a disappointment, I guess I'll go try the expansions to the first game instead..Version: 1.0.2
Love it but...I love both version of this beautiful game. The graphics, colors, illusions, etc were so amazing and breathtaking in both games. Very interesting storylines in both too! I’m not sure if the storyline connect or not (I know that Ida is not Ro bc names of course but maybe Ida is Ro’s child?...). The only thing about this version that makes me say ‘but’ in the title is the difficulty level. The first version took me longer than this version. A lot of it required some hard thinking and different perspectives but this version is as quite easy compared to the first :(( it went almost too quick. Some new aspects of this version were definitely very cool however (the growing trees and kaleidoscope drawings). Overall loved it and hope to see more from y’all :)).Version: 1.2.4
Good, but not challengingI absolutely loved the first game and the expansion. When I saw this one in the App Store I bought it without hesitation. Unfortunately I completed the entire game in under an hour and half. I felt like the game was taking its time and slowly introducing game mechanics and then it just ended. I really miss the complex and changing puzzles that where in the other games. I feel like this iteration may have been toned down for wider market appeal. I'll personally be weary about purchasing future expansions and versions. This was a fun game, amazing soundtrack, (I didn't really follow the storyline because I was just trying to get past the gameplay introduction and into the complex puzzles, but then it ended) I wish there had been a lot more of the great complex puzzles from the previous games, but I guess you can't please everyone..Version: 1.0.2
GorgeousWe all know this game is astonishing for not only the visuals but the story as well. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it's too easy. I don't mind it being short, in fact this is probably one of the most replayable games, especially if you want to go back and get an amazing screenshot. But I was only briefly stumped once during the whole journey. While the 1st was challenging enough for me to spend an entire day on it, this sequel took me an hour. I am not exaggerating this literally took me an hour. Was it worth spending for? Absolutely. Was it worth $5? Not so much. None the less, it's still an awesome game, but make sure you get the smartest cookies to make the next expansions/sequels. I want this breathtaking adventure to last me more than an hour. 😊.Version: 1.0.2
IncredibleThis game is absolutely phenomenal. I remember falling in love with the first Monument Valley and was not at all dissatisfied with this second installment. The graphics and illustrations are so beautiful you can’t help but get lost on the world that these developers and artists have created. It is incredibly soothing with its colors, soft ethereal music, and smooth animation I absolutely love it. The only thing is that game play was a little lacking on some levels and some puzzles were not nearly as hard as the first game, which means I finished playing it a lot faster than I would have liked to. But I would definitely be willing to support Ustwo Games for a stand alone journey, like Ida had or a third installment of this universe!.Version: 1.2.9
Nice and calming game!I really love this game, the images and the story is very touching, but it's short. I still recommend this game..Version: 1.2.15
Waited almost three years!Too easy compared with the first one, only took me less than 30 minutes to finish the whole game. I expect much more than this, feel not worth the price!.Version: 1.0.2
Not as good as the first onePros: beautiful visuals, easy gameplay Cons: not as challenging as the first one, too short for the price Verdict: buy if you are a fan and have finished the first one bur don't expect a challenging game.Version: 1.0.2
Still nice thoughBeautiful game, nice graphics, just too short, probably just too me 20 minutes, which it could be longer..Version: 1.0.2
Great SequelI like to think of this app as an interactive art piece rather than a game. The levels have a huge amount of detail that make you want to pause and take it all in..Version: 1.0.2
BeautifulNot only the art work was beautiful but the story within the games made me have emotion while playing. It follows the story of a mother and a daughter finding there way through this geometric world. I find the puzzles very interesting and satisfying to complete. There were some new aspects that the first one did not have that I really enjoyed. Definitely the best video game I have ever played!.Version: 1.0.2
I love itBeautiful and relaxing..Version: 2.0.4
Love, love, LOVE this game.Never played the first one but I will now. This isn’t just a game, it’s a work of art! Thanks to all of you who created it..Version: 2.0.0
Worth every centWonderful game! Great art style, great puzzles and a very nice end. Loved every minute of this game and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who likes good visual adventures and puzzles..Version: 1.3.7
Monument ValleyMV1 was great, spectacular looking with great puzzles, however MV2 still maintains the stunning visuals but the puzzles were simplistic and quite short. US2 you make fantastic games hope there’s MV3 in the works..Version: 1.3.7
Monument 1 and 2I have them both and I play them over and over never getting tired of them. They are so well done NOT a single flaw any and all game makers should take a long hard look at how these two where put together. I can’t wait for more I’d like to see one that’s like dominos ( not 1000 dominos) but 10 billion or more . My dream is your next one would take us at least a month to complete. Twenty sections to each step! Oh well Dreams are cheap eh !.Version: 1.3.6
Beautiful geometric puzzle gameThe art is absolutely astounding and the music draws you into the world. These puzzles are based in geometry and illusion and will keep you engaged while having a therapeutic and relaxing effect. Worth every penny. My only suggestion would be to add more levels..Version: 1.2.15
Worth the wait!!The music, the graphics, the puzzles, story line, everything is perfect and magical. It might a little easier than the first one but I am in love with this game for all its magic and not the difficulty of the game. Absolutely breath taking... hoping to see a Monument Valley 3..Version: 1.2.15
2S2ENot worthy of the first MV. Not worth the $6.99 paid. 2S2E (Too Short Too Easy). Beautiful, though I miss the crows..Version: 1.0.2
Hard to beat an originalFirst monument was an inventive puzzler. Mv2 was straightforward, not much of a brain tickler like the first. Pretty to look at. Happy to support smaller game companies. Think I'll replay original again.Version: 1.0.2
The entire thing was just so bad I was like I was goingThe first time you have a chance at the first thing you want is a little more than one shot and then the next thing I know it’s going through your mind so you have a little more of that stuff.Version: 3.10.604
Beautiful!This is a work of art..Version: 3.10.604

Version 2 is more intended for kidsIt’s much less difficult then version 1..Version: 3.3.1037
Too easy but still enjoyable. The first instalment was challenging. I expected the second to be the same, but it wasn’t. I’m sure some of that was because I understand the mechanics of the game better than I did my first time, but that should have been accounted for for this one. It was compelling enough to keep me happy though, and I felt like I got enough out of the game. Just wish it was more difficult..Version: 3.3.1037
Masterpiece through and throughWow, I just have no words. I loved the first one and it took me a really long time to play the second one and I feel like I’ve just been wowed all over again and then some. Stunning game, the visuals, the sounds, the puzzle combinations. All the details are astounding. Please try to play this on an iPad if you can, the bigger screen is so worth it. Big bow to the team. Thank you for making such beauty and magic..Version: 3.3.1037
TLe jeu est magnifique et un vrai cassa-tête.Version: 3.3.1037
Too shortThe first game was challenging, beautiful and long enough to justify the price. This second edition was significantly shorter. It took me half the time to complete, perhaps one third. Not only that but it was a lot easier. There were a couple innovations in the puzzling aspects but nothing challenging. Very disappointing. This felt like a lazy effort..Version: 3.3.1037
The game is good but..Everything is good but I would appreciate it if you can change/redo the symbol things every time you redownload the game, I don’t wanna be stuck with the same flower pattern I made when I was 10 or 11.Version: 2.0.4
2 yr old enjoys itI was looking for a clever puzzle game to play and I managed to get this one on a sale. Started playing and then my 2 yr old took notice. I explained to her the basics of the game and now she enjoys playing it. Sometimes she asks for help for the slightly harder parts. May get the other games at some point..Version: 1.3.7
BeautifulThe music is beautiful, and the graphics. The sound is nice..Version: 2.0.4
