Better wayFrom what I know when I experience dealing with the GTL app do you need all three for the video visit to work in order to use to go visit app, you need all three which is GTL app GO visit app and the Connect app…. The GTL app is for texting video recordings and pictures. The GO visit app is for video calls. The Connect app is to put money on inmates account. You also have to set up your alerts and notifications to receive your Video call… the issue that I have with this app is the notification. It should have a ringtone, a louder alert…. because I miss my calls all the time. It’s best for the inmate to text message and let you know that they are about to do a video call and to look out for it…..TwataCakesVersion: 3.0

Wish it would work properly, PLEASE FIX!The app just drops the ball, often! Messages get stuck pending for long periods. By the time they go through, they are moot. So you spend money to communicate but can’t effectively. I can’t take photos at family functions to send at a later date. The app won’t let me send them from saved photos. It’s okMy only issue with this app is that it doesn’t notify you when you’re receiving a video call, it shows up as a notification but doesn’t have any sound which makes it really easy to miss a call. Just make sure you text the person beforehand and know you’re gonna receive a video call at a certain time. This is the WORST APP EVER!This app is actually terrible! If you have a loved one in a bad situation, the LAST thing you need is an app that doesn’t function at all! (I can’t even say “properly” it just doesn’t function!!!! I actually deposited money so I can have a virtual visit and it keeps sending me in circles! I had to go on my laptop and even the website is jenky! I am so frustrated, and I FINALLY was able to send a message, (4th attempt!) and I had to do it through my laptop, and still had to jump through hoops to get it to send- seriously people, do the work and get this app running correctly- I literally feel like my money that I deposited was stolen, since it promised me that I can schedule an online visit, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to schedule one, and it says that the facility does allow it- so sad- please do better- very disappointing-.VioletnivyVersion: 4.2

Horrible AppThis is something that we have to pay as family to use to talk to our loved ones while they’re incarcerated. You have an allotted time of 30 minutes for most calls, but that’s never actually the length of the call. You only end up getting to talk for 25 minutes give or take a minute or two, which I would say isn’t a big deal, but considering how much it cost just to make the call just those couple of minutes makes a difference. What also makes this app absolutely horrible is the fact that it never works. It is constantly going down, users are unable to login, users are not able to add funds. You get through all of that and then you get to the video and either the video itself or the audio does not work so then you have to hang up and try all over again only to be told most of the time that you already have a visit scheduled so you can’t call back. For people in situations like myself where the only time we can talk is right at the end of the day it is extremely unfortunate and has led to very many missed conversations. What has also led to missed conversations is the fact that you don’t actually get notified when your loved one is trying to call you like you’re supposed to. For a service that costs as much as it does, you would think that it would run a little bit more efficiently. READ THIS FOR HELPHave you tried to make a payment? Does it keep glitching whenever you try to make a payment? OK well I have some information here. The way you’re able to successfully make a payment/deposit to get FaceTime calls from an inmate is doing it on a computer an actual like laptop. When you go to the getting out website, do not login. hit the option to “continue as guest”… Now answer all of the questions and it’ll actually go to the payment option and it will successfully let you put in your billing information etc. and submit a deposit. I’ve read all of the reviews and I had not been able to be successful in making a payment using their app, but if you go to the “getting out” website on an actual laptop, computer and continue as guest, it’s like if you’re setting up a whole other account but you’re not. You’re continuing as guest and you’ve already registered and verified your phone number- do the family and friends option to make a deposit and you’ll be able to successfully make a deposit payment… Hope it works! another thing too is you actually never get the app to open up the FaceTime calls. DisappointmentThis app is just that. If you’d like to waste your time downloading yet Another GTL app just to take up space on your phone, steal your money, have customer service give you the run around (IF you reach them) and never even let you schedule a visit, but yet bother you with 100 error messages a day, baby this is the App for you. I however don’t like to pay for disappointment so this is a no for me. This company has had multiple lawsuits filed against them, for stealing peoples money and for charging more than the fixed rates they are supposed to charge based on state regulations. I highly suggest you look into this a little more, check BBB ratings and reviews for all 3 apps. Basically all 3 apps are platforms to prey on the already vulnerable (and what better people to do it to? They can’t contact a lawyer or call customer service etc) they take advantage of loved ones want no to connect with each other, and that to me, is as low as it gets. I’ve had $135 stolen from me from this company, if they tell you they’ll give you a refund they’ll ask you for this document and that document, be sure to get All the details, because when you call back in with those requested items, they’ll ask for more things, they’ll keep doing this until it’s past the time you’re able to get a refund. Scammers at their finest. Probably one of the greatest American scams in the 21st century. Kudos to them for that, at least they managed to make something about these apps functional. Needs workThe app for the most part hasn’t been too much if an issue besides the fact that when a incoming video call us coming through. If you’re not staring at your devices every second of the day you will not get any type of alert sound wise s call is being made to you. Also, if you want to add money it will continue to loop back to you choosing to either adding to particular inmate tablet or to the family and friends account. You will never be able to get it to make a payment. You will have to go to the website outside of the app and confines as a guest and can actually make a payment which is ridiculous but luckily using your credentials will add to your account even though you make your transaction as a guest. Very unreliable and complicatedThis is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. I almost never leave app reviews but I have to speak up on this one. You have to make deposits to be able to communicate, and when you go to the deposit screen, it won’t allow you to make a deposit. It flashes out of the screen both on the app and on the website. It’s like they’re actively trying to disconnect inmates from their loved ones. I’m not sure how this works from the inside or who teaches people how to use it. It is NOT intuitive. Complicated to figure out how to get from place to place within the app. Separate apps for messaging versus phone and video. For somebody who is in jail for the first time, I have no idea how they know where to start with this. As a family member on the outside with somebody on the inside for the first time, it’s very discouraging. Atrocious app.Big problems with the video call feature; the inmate tried to call me today four times. But there is a glitch, and he can’t see me or sometimes, just couldn’t hear me. He’s only allowed to video call sometimes, and our schedules can be hard to align so when he calls, it has to work. You charge people a lot per minute, and add on Service fees every time you purchase more calling time. And then the feature doesn’t work. This app is an atrocity. It’s grounds for a lawsuit. Too many issuesThe app is not great I can’t even do a video visit with my love one my understanding is the inmate has to initiate the video visit and when he sends a request he is sending it to a email that I am not using to use the app. He talked with the gtl rep there in the prison and he’s being told that I have 3 accounts with connect network and I need to call in and ask them to merge my accounts this sounds crazy! Expensive and glitchyWe have had calls with zero video & no refund. We also have more than half the time out scheduled visit time has an "error" and kicks us out and we have to reschedule for hours later. Frustration with Ongoing Deposit IssuesI’ve been using this app for about three months, and unfortunately, I have yet to have a good experience. Every time I try to make a deposit on the app, I get an “unexpected error” message and I’m forced to call customer service. Not only is this frustrating, but I’m also charged a $5 support fee just for making the deposit over the phone—plus additional taxes on top of that. When the deposit does finally go through, it shows less money on my account than I originally put in. Terrible appIt’s an app that preys on people just trying to communicate with their loved ones. People have this idea we should be grateful to even be able to communicate with them. But this is a basic need, imagine just wanting to check in on someone and constantly being flooded with glitchy service. This app is constantly having issues and there is no one to help. Worse app !!!This app does not give you a way to visit at all. It continuously just refreshes once you try to schedule a visit. It takes multiple times to get verified and even after you get verified, you still cannot do a phone visit. IssuesThe app would not work for me in that it doesn’t show the funds I put on it nor will it let me call the inmate that I put the funds for. She has tried to call me numerous times and I’m unable to answer her calls despite having funds on her account for her to call me. I’ve called support and they made sure that the funds registered properly. So far the only contact I have is that she tries calling immediately after I try calling her and vice versa. What a way to communicate! You’d think the people monitoring the system would be able to see what is going on and fix the problems. Money grabLike almost every other review, this app and company is terrible and doesn’t care about you or your loved one that you are trying to call. Poor service with lack of optionApparently, the platform has too many issues at the facility with dropped calls and blackouts during call hours. Functions like an App from the 90’sThis whole line of apps is aggravating and useless when you can actually figure out how to navigate it. Way to price gouge peoples families when they’re already dealing with loved ones locked up!It’s awful. Every time I try to visit now it asks me what relationship I am to the inmate and still doesn’t work after I answer the question. Even if you fix that there’s always an issue on one side or the other. Poor serverI hate this app, I have to delete the app and reinstall it often,all because it won’t let me make a deposit it’ll say loading and go back to the screen that I was originally on. An extremely poor app that rarely worksUnfortunately its also potentially the only app you can use if your loved one is in a facility that Telmate holds the contract for. I have experienced nothing but problems. Scheduled meetings rarely work out with errors, time conflicts even though there are none, no kiosks available even though the scheduled meeting has been accepted. On and On. Very frustrating to have weeks go by and not be able to visit with constant errors. Not just on mobile devices like iPad but also on the PC based version. In the day and age of FaceTime, zoom, messenger, WhatsApp etc this service is so poor its barely conceivable.
