Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD Positive Reviews

Awesome game! But I have some suggestions.Hi Ironhide! I recently purchased your game, and just wanted to leave some feedback on it. First of all: I feel like the health bars with your troops and the enemy are much too similar, and it can get very confusing trying to tell who is who. I think changing the enemy health bar to something dark like purple would work better, and keeping the players as green/red. I also feel as though the characters and towers being locked behind a paywall is quite annoying. I know that you want to make money off of all the effort you put in to making this, (beautiful art by the way,) but we already payed money just to play. I think you should add an option to complete challenges in order to unlock the towers- it would really give players a chance to strive for something. Believe me, unlocking an item or character by putting in the work after being presented with the option to spend money, (the easy way out), it really adds to the sense of accomplishment that you get from overcoming a challenge without taking the easy way. Besides that, great game! The art is so amazing, and I love some of the references you made to other games. Keep being awesome! -Ashdroid.Version: 1.00.18

Really good game could use improvementsAs a longtime fan of the Kingdom Rush series since childhood, I was excited to dive into this latest installment. The game introduces a wealth of new content, including additional stages and innovative mechanics, such as having two units guarding the final objective. These additions enhance the strategic depth and make for an engaging experience. However, while I appreciate the fresh approach, I do miss some elements from the original game most notably, the classic tower upgrade system. In previous titles, towers reached level 3 before branching into one of two specialized upgrades, each with distinct visual and functional differences. For example, archer towers could evolve into a high-speed tree archer or a slower but more powerful gun tower. This system added an extra layer of strategic decision-making that I feel is somewhat lacking in the current iteration. Additionally, I would love to see more variety in explosives. The original Kingdom Rush offered around seven different bomb-based abilities, while this version only includes three. Expanding these options could add more tactical diversity and enhance gameplay. That said, the game does an excellent job of delivering fresh challenges while staying true to the franchise’s charm. The expanded stage selection and new mechanics are fantastic additions, and I appreciate the effort to innovate while maintaining the core experience that fans love. Overall, while I have some nostalgic preferences, this latest Kingdom Rush entry is a fantastic addition to the series and a must-play for both veterans and newcomers alike..Version: 4.00.54

My favorite game, missing two major things from old games!!!This game has been an absolute blast to play. I have 100% completed the game and almost bought every hero and tower. I also have played every previously game and loved those. This game I have to agree is the best game in Kingdom Rush history. Although, I would love to see the encyclopedia come back, I always loved looking through it and viewing the past enemies I defeated. Lastly, the biggest thing the game is missing is the endless wave from past games. The endless wave was always so fun because once I beat the game fully, I had something else to play, this also encouraged me to continue playing the game. I also love how frequently the developers update the game. Even though the update frequently, I still am trying to find something to do in the game right now and can’t find it. The endless wave would completely solve this problem. I also believe these shouldn’t be too hard to add because they have been in previous games. With all said the developers have done an amazing job with this game, and I am looking forward to future updates and the next game..Version: 5.00.18

Strong game but missing elementsI am long time fan and enjoyed of the kingdom rush franchise, and truly have the utmost respect for its developers. That being said, I am left slightly unsatisfied by this game, as they uncharacteristically demonstrated a lack of attention to detail. First, with my minor complaints. There is no encyclopedia anywhere in the game. After you defeat the final boss he still appears alive on the map. Furthermore, it has a little over half the campaign levels as vengeance. I found this to be extremely disappointing. I know they will continue to add levels, but I doubt they will eventually add 60 more levels to the game. I also find the story to be somewhat poorly explained as compared to the previous iterations of the game. The mechanics are great, and the towers and hero’s are cool and generally more balanced than in vengeance. I have dew complaints regarding the fundamental aspects of the game, but rather all the little details. Throughout the games thus far they have increasingly added more levels and details with each game, which I have always highly respect of ironside studios. This, however, feels somewhat like a step backwards. A strong game overall, however I will say it feels like they pushed it out too early, almost as a money-grab..Version: 3.00.34

Hard to beat this gameKingdom Rush has been one of my favorite mobile games for years. The visuals, gameplay, creativity, and level of difficulty has always drawn me in. Alliance is a great continuation of the series. It has cool towers, enemies, abilities, and heroes. For a game being so cheap, I find so much entertainment from this! The perfect game to play for a little bit here and there. For the people complaining about the price, my goodness, this is cheaper than buying yourself lunch for ONE day. There are some issues with the game that I want to bring up. I have noticed that nearly every time I level up a heroes skills, or upgrades, or buy items, they will reset as if nothing ever happened. This is annoying because I'll purchase these things in game then go to a map and they're erased. The game also needs an encyclopedia. I enjoy looking at the towers and monsters in there and it's hard to remember all the monsters resistances and abilities without that. All in all, great game and love the KR games!.Version: 4.00.60

Alliance Review by ZaefodbeeblebroxThere has been so much anticipation for this newest release, Alliance, by Iron Hide. Well done on game mechanics, contemporary humor, and artwork. All of these are award winning quality, however game play for avid fans of Kingdom Rush was disappointing. As a player and supporter of Iron Hide since their inception in 2010, I write this review in the hopes that this talented Uruguayan team uses the words that follow to improve this and future products. Since its release on July 25, I have been ardently playing each level without feeling much of a challenge. What was, and is still, always thrilling about Kingdom Rush, Frontiers, Origins, and Vengence was the difficulty of play. When I replay the original Kindom Rush, I always feel challenged and worried some wolf or hatched spider will sneak through my defenses. I was disappointed with Alliance. I played through the first six levels at heroic and iron challenge on the “Impossible” setting, and never once broke a sweat. Besides the artwork, Iron Hide’s strategy and tactic development has been exemplary until their release of Junkworld (JW), which was a tremendous disappointment for die hard tower defense players. Though not as easy as JW, Alliance lacks vetted tactical and strategic design with heroes and towers that are too powerful. The only time I felt challenged, or at all worried that something would get through was level 16: Hunger’s Peak. I’m not sure why Iron Hide has reduce their quality of Tower Defense play, but hope that they will re-release Alliance with improvements that challenge players and fans of the Kingdom Rush franchise..Version: 1.00.20

Lazy level design/Pay to winI’ve thoroughly played every kingdom rush entry several times at least. They all had good difficulty that required good strategy, this game relies entirely upon surprises to beat you. A level with simple paths is compromised by flying enemies who fly AROUND the ENTIRE path straight to the back. Not to mention, said flying enemies can stun your units, or even teleport half the path when struck. They are also present on every level past a certain point. The rest of the enemies are trivial and pose no threat, flying enemies are a lazy, lame attempt at making the game harder. Instead of requiring strategy they are just boring to counter. This would be fine if that was all, but almost every later levels difficulty is built around a surprise change or gimmick that isn’t present until the last few waves, which without preparation is almost impossible to be ready for. Not to mention the pay towers and heroes are significantly better then the free ones, in almost every way the paid towers trivialize the game. For a 7$ game, it sure feels like we’re supposed to pay even more to enjoy the full game..Version: 1.00.20

Better than vengeance, I guessThe Good 1.Performance is good and there’s minimal bugs(wizard damage buff sometimes doesn’t affect a nearby tower, but thats it.) 2. Balancing is better, levels in vengeance were either too hard or too easy. There’s no tower that’s overwhelmingly better than the rest or just flat out useless. 3. enemies in each area behave differently instead of just being buffed up reskins of previous enemies like in vengeance. The Bad Game costs 8 dollars but provides less content than earlier titles. (48 stars vs 110 for kr,frontiers, and origins.) 2. Despite costing 7 dollars there’s dlc that in total cost many times the game’s cost. 3. Frustrating unfun nonsense that involve randomly appearing enemies that travel in an illogical manner. This makes wave indicators useless because the actual enemies coming and where they come from differ drastically. 4. Tower special abilities are quite simply too weak. This makes gameplay boring because vanilla lv4 towers are always more cost effective than their abilities. Just like with vengeance, despite there being more abilities and towers than ever it is somehow more limiting. Having 2 offshoots of 4 towers results in 8 towers with 2 abilities each. That meant you had 24 options in total. Now we have 5 towers with 2 abilities, which results in 15 options. 5. The upgrade tree just isn’t as good as the original. All upgrades are now generic and universal, so they have no weight to them. 6. The music is completely generic. The music for the original and frontiers felt very unique. Now it’s just bland to the point of muting the game. Final boss was a complete joke, you can just spam archer towers and easily win on veteran difficulty. The 2nd to last level was one of the best balanced levels throughout all of the KR games though, so it felt jarring..Version: 1.00.32

The Best Yet?Love it, love it, love it! This game is a blast. Great heroes ( mostly), great towers ( mostly), great levels. Yes I bought the towers and heroes because it makes the game more fun. I try to beat all levels with the “free” material because I believe you would make that possible as that has been the case throughout the franchise. It is definitely a challenge. I did think the hero bundle was a little pricey but I bit the bullet because I knew I would be playing this for years. The different combinations lends istself to endless variety in gameplay. Ramping up the all the different heroes takes some time and is loads of fun. As the graphics get better and the gameplay more complex, I realize a lot has gone into this and want Ironhide to keep making new content, so I am more than willing to pay for that. I haven’t completed the game yet, as I am trying to savor the experience, but I must say I am having so much fun with this latest iteration of my absolute favorite game franchise. Thank you Ironhide..Version: 1.00.36

Fun. Beautiful. Consider the cost of the DLC.It’s a beautiful and imaginitive entry to a timeless franchise. The gameplay is top notch for the tower defense genre, it’s engaging and fun. My only critique is that my experience has shown most Ironhide games in the past 5 years are more enjoyable and the gameplay more balanced with some of the purchaseable heroes and towers. Even so, splashing out 30 or so dollars for this game isn’t bad (with all towers and heroes), since I still remember when a gameboy game went for that much, with less than an 1/8th the content, and no accounting for inflation! Just keep in mind, the app cost is the starting point, but you might want to consider setting aside a few bucks for the in-app purchases as the difficulty increases. Thankfully, there’s little need for the microtransaction items, as the ability to earn in-game currency is quite generous. I also give the team kudos for their imaginitive world building and backstories - they’ve built a great world to visit in Linearia!.Version: 1.00.32

Starting Characters and Towers are Strong! In the mobile edition of the game, you only have access to the first 4 heroes and 10 out of the total 15 towers. You can buy everything else for and additional $35 but you don’t really need too in order to win on veteran mode. I’m currently working on impossible mode and I still find the game to be fun and well balanced without spending money. An important thing to note is that it seems you can get everything in the game for $18 on steam which is much cheaper. There is one advantage to playing on mobile however. If you enjoy using one-shot items, you can only get them on mobile and not the desktop version. I’ve accumulated over 6000 gems just from playing the game that I can spend on items but so far I haven’t needed too. Honestly it is just fun collecting them and the game as a whole feels very good to play. Well done by Ironhide!.Version: 1.00.20

Good but my least favorite in the KDR franchiseIt’s decent. By far my least favorite in the Kingdom rush franchise however. It just doesn’t have quite the same feel as the other 4 games and I think the towers and hero’s and maps are the least fun out of all the KDR games. I like that they brought back some of the old towers from other games but I wish they would expand on this and bring back even more of the older towers and hero’s. Using two hero’s is cool. I’d really like to see more endless wave challenges like in the earlier games. I also wish some levels only had one gate to protect, all of these levels have at least two. The one gate maps were some of the best in the older games I think. I also really didn’t like the final boss level with having your towers moved and destroyed throughout the level. I get that they are trying to do something new but it just isn’t as fun for me. Also $50 to unlock all hero’s and towers is a bit much. And that’s the sale/ bundle price too. I think $20-$30 to have all all content unlocked would be more reasonable..Version: 2.00.38

Some IssuesI love all the kingdom rush games (I’ve literally been playing them since I was 15) but this one has had some issues the others haven’t. When I finish a level and unlock a new tower/level up a hero, I’ll go into the heroes or towers sections and upgrade/equip them. However, it won’t save that I do this unless I play the next level. For example, let’s say I’ve finished a level, upgraded a hero, and then left the game for the day. When I reopen it the next day, it doesn’t register that I’ve upgraded the hero and instead displays that I’ve unlocked a new tower/hero again (even though I’ve already seen that screen the day before). This results in a frustrating loop of trying to remember what upgrades I’ve chosen before and then trying to remember to not upgrade anything before closing the app. I haven’t had this problem with other games so I’m hoping it’s an issue that gets resolved quickly with a new update. Another issue I have is the tower descriptions. When choosing towers to equip it’s often unclear if they’re archers, troops, etc. I wish there were more clear descriptions that made sense with the tower types so it was easier to choose which to equip. Aside from those issues I really love the concept of this. It takes kingdom rush to a new level of gameplay I enjoy (even though I hate choices lol). I really like this next installment in the franchise and I’m glad they’re still making these..Version: 1.00.20

Not as good as previous KR gamesIt's been a long wait and I was very excited to finally have a new version of Kingdom Rush! But a few things are marring the fun: 1. The map in each level always needs to be scrolled. You can never have the entire thing on the screen, even zoomed out at max. 2. When double clicking to call enemies early, because the map needs to be scrolled, you can't just tap the little circle. You have to scroll to the edge first, losing sight of the main fighting area at times. Even then, half the time the circle is dimmed out and you can barely see it and have to double click to see it before double clicking to call, wasting valuable time and bonus coins. 3. The maps *all* have 2 or 3 exits. All of them. It's super disappointing because some of the most enjoyable previous maps just had one exit where you can concentrate forces. 4. Two heroes per map, every time. Makes sense with the multiple exits, but the play experience just isn't as focused. I don't like the scattered feel personally, so I hate that it's *every* map. 5. The new towers aren't that fun. I bought them all. They also don't clearly show whether they attack air or ground or both when scrolling through. 6. Some levels are annoyingly difficult even on casual mode. The whole experience makes me want to go replay previous versions of the game instead. I stopped at some level with a lot of invisible guys and spiders, and I'm not that eager to continue..Version: 1.00.20

Great if expseniveYou should definitely get the older ones, this is not as good as those. But it is a great addition to the line up Great graphics, gimmicks, and the newest campaign was great (and free). ##################################################### But guys, 2 things. The hoards are pretty plain, everything is like 5 enemies at a time. I miss the huge swarms like the past, all those zombies and skeleton maps. ##################################################### Secondly, this game’s additions are way too expensive. $30 for the rest of the characters? $25 for all the towers? I know that this is your business model but we did already shell out for the game itself. Seeing how Vengeance is charging $7 for new campaigns, more than the game itself, is really REALLY off putting. It’s one thing to charge for new content, everyone understands that, but it should be commensurate with the cost of the game itself. Come on guys, please..Version: 2.00.20

TRULY CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF PREVIOUS GAMES AND MADE IT BETTERLove this newest addition to the Kingdom Rush series so much, both towers and heroes feel important, lots of new interesting mechanics with the towers to make them truly different from one another. Same with the heroes, I thought I wouldn’t like the removal of the major spell, but having 2 heroes and 2 albeit weaker spells open so many doors to synergy and strategy. Overall the game is pretty balance in my opinion, most stages on normal you could beat after 1-2 tries, the higher difficulties are really engaging for long time fan like myself, and I like that they added a bunch of easter eggs to the stages. The art style is great as well, I didn’t like the more cartoon like style of Vengeance, but this seem like a good mix a the cartoon style with more animation especially how heroes move and the original more fantasy hand drawn style of the first 3 games..Version: 1.00.20

Tbh kinda disappointedJust felt like a lazy attempt tbh and they only have 17 stages at base game while the other games have far more. On top of that they had no endless mode. this game didn’t have anything after you beat the campaign like why??? All the other games had this but for some reason not this one. Also the towers only had 2 upgrade paths (more laziness) which took away from the game imop (why have a new game and have less options I get you added the second hero which I really liked but everything else kinda flopped compared to last games). Lastly the enemies were very weak but hit you in bursts…. The flying mobs are by far the most annoying especially the stunning ones, like add more interesting units better lore and do better with this game, the previous games are absolutely marvelous this one not so much :(.Version: 1.00.20

Great Game, OverpricedI truly wish I could give this a better review (4-5 stars) but it’s very overpriced in my opinion. I’ve always been a fan of the kingdom rush games, and the design, fun, and play of this game is so smooth. I just don’t think that half of the towers they e designed, and half of the heroes, should be placed behind a pay wall (5 bucks on sale for the more expensive ones). As a tower defense game, one would think that they would let you have access to the towers and make you pay for heroes or cosmetics or something. Paying 7-8 bucks (I can’t remember how much) for the base game, then asking players to fork over 20 dollars for the rest of the towers and 30 dollars for the heroes (if you buy their discounted bundles, 58 dollars total) is honestly insane for a mobile game, albeit a VERY good game. I’m going to continue having as much fun as I can, just know that before you buy the base game, you will have to fork over 50 extra for the full experience..Version: 5.00.32

Best Devs Ever!I don’t know how big of a developer team Ironhide is but they are hands down one of the best developers ever in my opinion. I have never had any bugs in any of their games. I have never had to sign any kind of data tracking agreement. I have never felt like they are price gouging or money hungry. They just release great games, bug free, time after time. While they might have a hero or tower behind a pay wall occasionally, other than that, when you purchase one of their games you get (wait for it)….the whole game!!! In todays age of gaming where devs just rush something out to get your money just to fix it later or release some pay to win garbage. These guys have never stooped to that level and as an old school, 46 year old gamer dad, I got nothing but respect for these guys and or gals. So truly, thank you, you guys are the best!.Version: 1.00.20

Great Vibe, But Lacks the Frontiers ChallangeAs a Kingdom Rush Frontiers fan, I went into this game with high hopes, and while it delivers a visually stunning and fresh experience, the core gameplay left me disappointed. The maps, heroes, towers, and hidden Easter eggs are all fantastic and beautifully designed. The two hero mechanic is top notch. However, if you are looking for a true tactical challenge, you won't find it here. Even on Veteran mode using only the free heroes and towers, the main campaign stages are surprisingly easy; once you figure out a few key tower patterns, you can simply spam them to clear every wave without much effort. Stages 14,15 and additional campaigns are the only ones with true challenge (took me a few restarts to beat). Yet, please keep the main campaign difficulty to difficult when it’s veteran..Version: 7.00.62

Easy 5 StarsI have played all of the Kingdom Rush games for the past 6 or 7 years and this one is the best so far. It is challenging, but not too challenging to where you lose interest. It has a wide variety of towers and heroes to choose from leaving you with many different options for tactics to use in game. Great graphics, sounds, and epic adventure to leave you stuck playing for hours. I still have not beaten this on all difficulties yet, but I’m getting close. Great job on making another epic “go-to”game. Instant classic. Anytime I buy a new device in the future, this game will be downloaded for sure. I really have no cons to add.. hint: play on a 13” IPad for an amazing experience. It’s still fun on a small screen, but a larger tablet makes it just that much better..Version: 5.00.32

Best kingdom rush gameI have been playing kingdom rush ever since I was a little kid playing the original and the frontiers. I gotta say I think this has become my new favorite kingdom rush game, at first I thought the ability to change towers was weird but once I started to change towers It added a whole new level of strategy into the game and it made playing more fun to see which towers work best together. And the free hero selection is a lot bigger and the abilities that the heroes have are really cool and I like how you get to play with 2 heroes instead of only the one. And there are DLC that actually look like a lot of fun than most DLC’s now that look like cash grabs. 10/10 would definitely recommend if this is your first kingdom rush game and worth the money too..Version: 6.00.126

4.5; I love it but…This game genuinely feels like a breath of fresh air. The two hero system is fantastic and allows a lot of replay value to the levels. The bosses are a bit easy but still engaging. The towers overall feel very balanced with the heroes though I have yet to try the premium towers and heroes (more on that soon). Story, personality, and humor is great! Love seeing all the callbacks to the older games and cannot wait for more! There’s just ONE gripe I have that’s holding back the game. I WANT to get the heroes and towers bundle, I have the money! I have bought the heroes and towers of other games including other Ironhide titles… but when I successfully punch in my password for icloud, I am told to verify my purchase first and the pop up won’t let me change the debit card nor will it allow me to use Apple Cash! I am really desperate to try all the premium content but this accursed verification stops me as the button to verify Apple Cash doesn’t even work, as it’s grayed out like it’s invalid. Please, a fix to this would be appreciated as I have little negative to say and I have already reached out for help couldn’t get any answers..Version: 1.00.36

Longtime KR playerI love this series so much, and was extremely excited to see a new installment! Bit odd to see that towers don’t have split upgrade options, but having dark forces gives me glee. Unfortunately the game doesn’t seem to remember when I purchase things. This is incredibly frustrating, and means I sometimes have to exit and restart a few times for it to actually save. It took until I had mostly completed the first chapter for it to stop giving me the tooltip on the different stats on hero and tower pages, and it always tells me there’s new towers and heroes even though I’ve looked at them all. I hope this bug gets fixed, because it makes the game really hard to actually play. So far it’s not *quite* as good as past installments, especially part 4, but it’s still a really good game!.Version: 4.00.60

Not P2W but feels offI love this game and this series - I have 100%’ed each of them. However, I really hope to see some changes made to this game or upcoming games. The bad reviews that complain that the game is impossible without paying are laughable - there are numerous videos online showing every level being completed at the highest difficulty with no paid content. That being said, locking so much content behind paywalls does leave a really bad taste in my mouth. I’m not naive, I understand that developing a quality game like this costs money, and I want Ironhide to be a successful company that properly compensates its employees. I would have been happy to pay more for the game upfront to have full access to the content, although I understand how a $20 sticker price would deter many casual players. I think a good compromise would be something like allowing the purchase of towers and heroes with gems. In this game and in Vengeance, I have amassed tens of thousands of gems that I have no use for because I, and many other players, do not use items. This is likely not done because this would significantly drive down IAPs, but I think that something like this would make this easily a 5 star game. I hope that the company is able to find some kind of balance here. Thanks to anyone who reads..Version: 2.00.32

Great additionLove these games, the best TDs out there in all honestly. I love all the cameos and Easter eggs. Vengeance was great and it was fun to use the dark army I just didn’t enjoy fighting all the characters I had grown to love. This story vindicates vengeance, it’s very fun and interesting to see them uniting. Some gripes, (tho still a great TD) I loved using “prince” Denas in Origins and you can use Veznans ability in vengeance; this installment missed a great opportunity to cast them both as heroes. To beable to use both Denas and veznan as heroes would’ve been fun with the dual hero mechanic this game introduced, and would be great to see in future updates. Tho being able to use Denas to fight Mydrias was a taste I’d have loved full fledged hero Units for both. To add, I would’ve loved to see what happened to all the old heroes veznan captured. Gerald Lightbringer holds a special place in my heart. My only other real complaint which can be updated in future updates aswell in the amount of levels seems to get shorter and their design is mostly more of the same with a different setting skin. Lastly, I’ve been asking since the first kingdom rush that a survival mode for every level would be great fun with leaderboards and should also be considered and added..Version: 1.00.32

Great game, greedy developersI never really buy games on my phone and I definitely won’t after this. Normally when you pay money for a game most of everything is unlocked. NOT on this game. Beware if you’re looking to play the game and think that you’ll use most of every tower or character. You will if you have an additional $100 to spend on the game because other than the 3-4 towers and characters you’ll have to pay anywhere from $3-$7 for character/tower/arena. Honestly kind of ridiculous to me, if I buy a game I would want most of everything unlocked to me, instead I feel like I bought a ticket to a show I have to pay every artist individually just to hear the whole song. Basically 80% DLC. Love the game, don’t love that I need to pay more for a mobile game I already paid $6 to play..Version: 6.00.126

Great game as usual but some questionable decisions on core mechanicsAnother high quality kingdom rush game. Broke the game with all the stars and had lots of fun. One thing I noticed though is that wings and iron fists no longer contributes to the skill points. As the result, it doesn’t give me as much incentive to finish them before moving on to future levels. Getting stuck on new levels and coming back to get more stars so you can move on with better towers was a core game mechanic that doesn’t exist anymore. When I finish the game and come back to them with my lvl 10 heroes and new towers, they become too easy. This is the first kingdom rush game that I didn’t want to finish them, which adds a little shade to this great game.Version: 1.00.32

Love this game so muchThis game is so fun, and also quite challenging in some levels (which is a good thing). I love the heroes so much (Nyru, you are so fun) and the two-hero system is a dream come true! The towers are very fun as well, like the dune sentinels and their bounty hunter ability. I know people are saying that the campaigns too short (even though you guys already said that there’d be three new stages, two new heroes, and a new tower soon) or coming up with other excuses but you guys did absolutely amazing ✨. Love the art, heroes, towers, and anybody who calls it bad can go make their own TD game. Thank you Ironhide, I really wish I could make a TD game like you guys one day but I doubt my work would even compare to yours. :).Version: 1.00.32

Half the game is behind a paywallThe game is fantastic; great art, great story, and great mechanics. I do have a big issue with the game, there are only four heroes available without buying more. There are also only a handful of towers available. The game is very challenging, as it should be, but I feel like the locked heroes and towers would make it much easier. Having already payed to play the game, even preordering it, it makes me upset that in order to experience the full game i have to pay more. I would really appreciate another way to unlock the heroes and towers, such as challenges or special levels, and have the paywall only as a shortcut to unlocking them. The developer has always done a fantastic job with their games, and I hope they don’t continue to have over half of the towers and heroes behind a paywall..Version: 1.00.20

Not as good as the first 3 but still goodI have played all of the kingdom rush games for ever (except legends) so the games are not new to me and if I’m honest this one doesn’t compare to the old ones and so what’s different that makes it this way. 1. The design: This may be an unpopular opinion but I like the design of the old games better, it was simple and refreshing since most games now go really bizarre with details and unfortunately (though not as severe) this games falls into that category. 2. The tower system: Since kingdom rush 4 Vengeance came out iron hide has added a new tower system where you select up to 5 towers that you want to bring to battle and personally I don’t like this mechanic yes it allows for a more customizable load out but this also eliminates your ability to kinda go crazy with the towers and you can’t just use all the towers for their ability’s anymore they have to be good at what they do and you don’t get to use not as good ones even if you like them better. So overall I like the game so far but if I were to have to pick the old ones over the new ones I would..Version: 1.00.18

Great Game but there is one problemThis game feels great to play and I love the customization options available. However, the only problem I feel needs to be addressed is the (in my opinion) scummy monetization. In this game you can by premium towers and heroes, similar to Kingdom rush vengeance. Now I’d normally be fine with having premium heroes since it impacts gameplay much less than towers. However, the premium towers and heroes are much better and cooler in my opinion. I get that they have to make money but they could at least either make the game a bit more expensive and then get rid of the premium or they could also add it to Apple Arcade. Overall, the gameplay is great and it feels like the kingdom rush that I missed..Version: 1.00.18

Great game…spoiled by too much extra $Iron Hide makes many of the best game on iOS and in the past they have been very inexpensive. I think they realized they could and should be charging more and I’m fine with that. But this course correction went WAY too far. To pay this much for a game like this and only get 4 characters and and a handful of tower. Ridiculous. This would be a $40 game if you were too buy everything. That’s nuts. Iron Hide…you screwed up and got greedy. I’ve purchased every game you have ever made and was a raving fan. Now…not so much. It’s too bad. This might be the first of you games I don’t finish multiple times with every character. I might not even finish it once….Version: 1.01.00

Amazing game, one small issue.I want to start off by saying this is a great addition to the KR franchise. All the new towers and heroes are fun to use, and the level design is great! I have one issue though. When the game came out, I bought the hero bundle so that I had all the heroes in the game. However, I recently started playing again and 3 new heroes were added since then (not including DLC). I went to the shop to see if there was a discount bundle, but the only bundle I see is the FULL price all hero bundle. I don’t want to spend another $30 when I have 90% of the heroes in that bundle. I wish the bundle was discounted depending on the number of heroes you already have in said bundle..Version: 5.00.18

Great but more money grabs are dishearteningSeems pretty clear that there is no way to advance into the very high levels of the game without spending more $$ on towers, etc. It’s very disappointing how that model has made its way to this developer. You can complete the game but try and gain higher levels doesn’t seem to be possible without buying more digital assets. I guess this is just what we’re expected to understand at this point. It’s not worth it to me to spend more $$ for extra digital stars that mean nothing in the long run, but it would be nice to believe that a game was winnable strategically without having to pay for play. If anyone has completed the entire game and the highest levels without spending I’d love to hear about it..Version: 1.00.32

Great game with flawed business modelIronhide was one of the companies that pulled me in to mobile gaming, and I’ve always purchased their new products, they have no danger of losing me as a customer. I’ve never been disappointed with the core game itself. What has troubled me is that they entice you to spend the equivalent of 2/3 a full console game to unlock all the features they programmed in. This isn’t Elden Ring or RDR2, I’m sorry. In the beginning this could be slightly justified by interesting but totally unnecessary heroes, now it inhabits even the towers of a tower defense game! I know the response would be that nothing premium is required to beat the game, but towers are why we even play this genre. let us @!$K around a bit without breaking the bank for God’s sake!! If we want to go the next step we will, but I feel pressured to make additional purchases a couple levels in instead of beating the game, maybe buying another hero on sale, beating it again, rinse and repeat. is unlocking the final chapter of the story the next step?.Version: 1.00.32

Getting pricey - please fix issueI’m a long time fan who still play some of their first games like Origin, Kingdom Rush, Frontier, and lately Vengence…etc. I agreed with other reviewers that the quality and quantity of their previous games are much better than this one. On the plus side, their Iron challenge sometimes gives me a chance to try out new towers (which normally requires you to pay). I don’t believe in paying extra for heroes or towers so I stick to the basic. This game is getting expensive that you have to pay $8 to unlock each new campaign. Also, I paid for the new Colossal campaign but the app is asking me to pay again - which I reported to Apple. Hopefully, they’ll get it fixed..Version: 4.00.54

Where is the endless wave mode?I love this series and have bought everyone. That being said. They did this awesome game mode in Kingdom Rush: Origins where you can take on endless waves and see your high score. It gave the game great replay ability. I even bought all the champions because it added another level of challenge and made it worth paying for them. But these last two games Vengeance and now 4 it seems they have done away with it. The game is done after 15 campaigns and there is no real incentive to buy towers and champions as you will get bored with it once the game is over. But besides that it is still the best of the best in mobile gaming..Version: 1.00.32

Very Good !!! but could be betterHello ironhide I am an old player of the saga. I have already won them all including Alliance. So here is my review: The quality of the game is very good, I like that style that is similar to the 4th version but only 15 scenarios seems very little to me. I would like more reference to the towers from the previous Kingdom Rush. I like that two heroes can be used at the same time and that reinforcements can be redirected. But I think that the final abilities of the towers could be improved, many of them are not very useful or effective. BUT IT'S NO REASON TO GET DEPRESSED!!!!!! It is a wonderful game which I recommend playing. I look forward to the story continuing.🙌🏻 -Victor O.Version: 1.00.20

Great game… steep price.Awesome addition to the kr lineup. The new title feels much more buttery than vengence and even has narrative aspects that remind me of KR frontier- which is probably my favorite kr entry. The campaign, the art, and quirky charm are all present and even amped up… but so are in app purchases. To be clear, and fair, this wouldn’t be such a problem if not for a 7 dollar purchase point for the game in the App Store. The highest price to date on a kr title… and one that doesn’t buy a whole lot more than what we’re used to getting in previous games. To surmise: yes it was worth it… but it’s getting really hard to tell when you feel… taken advantage of..Version: 2.00.38

Mechanics could improve.I’ve been a Kingdom Rush fan since the first one, and I’ve probably spent 500+ hours in total playing all the games! While I do like this edition, and like that they continue the great lore, animation, and easter eggs, there are some things I don’t exactly like about it. 1. The new swipe to move reinforcements/heroes is annoying, because it messes up my natural scrolling around the map. Half the time I try to move the map, I get reinforcements or my heroes moving around instead! While I understand the usefulness, it severely messes with my gameplay! Please make this mechanic optional. This is my worst gripe with the game. 2. I understand the need for pay-to-get content, but I wish there was more motivation to do so! If there were crazy challenges or something to motivate the player to get new content, that would be so fun and rewarding. 3. The two-hero thing was probably my least favorite of the previous games. I want more of my focus to be on the towers. I was hoping this wasn’t the case with every single map. (Wouldn’t it be cool to have the alliance and dark sides merge, de-merge at some points and maybe re-merge?) That way, you’re also locked in to specific towers for specific maps. Also, lots of multiple-pathed exits for enemies can make for more disjointed gameplay, so I was hoping there were more single-pathed maps. There is also sooo much reliance on reinforcements, super powers (that are sometimes instantly rejuvenated), and the heroes, that it doesn’t feel like a TD game anymore. 4. Balancing is way off in this one, especially for the post-main game content. The difficulty between waves can change drastically and the surprises make you frustrated, not fun and rewarding like Vengeance. 5. I miss Asra (or any teleporting hero)! Having a teleporting hero was so useful and satisfying in the Vengeance, and the fact there are none is disappointing..Version: 3.00.42

7_ATE_9Expensive but great quality..Version: 5.00.20

Worst of the bestAll Kingdom rushes are great games but this one is definitely the worst of the best. Limited content for a payed game and probably the worst iteration of towers, heroes and enemies. Map design leaves the impression that the goal is to annoy more then for there to be a strategy to figure out like previous games. Simplicity made the originals the best, the new concepts made the sequels exciting while adding a lot more content behind paywalls. This one falls a bit flat in all departments while giving less content with the original purchase and way more content behind paywalls..Version: 1.01.00

Monetization issuesThe game is a fun play, sticks to the formula of the KR franchise and expands on it with new towers and content. KR has always limited certain hero’s behind a pay wall, although this never felt like to large of an issue as it wouldn’t impact how the game played. That being said, they have now limited towers behind an extra pay wall, and given that this game is a “tower defence” game, not being able to play with each tower after spending $10 feels greedy. Fun game, being ruined by to many pay walls..Version: 5.00.20

Disappointing for the franchiseI’ve always been impressed with the Kingdom Rush games, but this one is a clear cash grab offering disproportionally less value than previous games at a higher cost. To me the level designs were not as cohesive and strategically interesting, and the art direction was not as refined as in previous instalments..Version: 5.00.18

Good evolution but…I have been playing kingdom rush for more than 10 years and definitely one of my favorite games. I really like how the storytelling develops and enjoyed playing this one. However I must say that I found the game to be less hard than others. I also noticed that we need much more gold this time to properly improve towers and get abilities. Also I would appreciate if you put back the enemies encyclopedia like in early games. I found this a great resource and a bit sad you removed it in previous games..Version: 5.00.32

Great!Sooooo happy there were so many updates and a new game!.Version: 5.00.18

Great!!!Loving it! So much fun! Been playing Kingdom Rush since the first one and they continue to crush it! Love love love For those complaining about spending money, you’re not forced to. Every tower and hero that are free are amazing. Compared to every other game out there where you’re forced to watch ads or spend to win this is a breath of fresh air.Version: 3.00.46

Always deliversKingdom rush franchise delivers again!.Version: 1.00.20

Great gameAlways loved kingdom rush. Quality game you can play and put down any time..Version: 7.00.62

Too much paywall!Good game; as good as its predecessors. Unfortunately, the amount of paywall, and the prices, are excessive. It’d be 4 or 5 stars otherwise..Version: 7.00.62

Best Kingdom Rush so FarKingdom rush has been a great series of games. I’ve played and have them all. Vengeance wasn’t as good as the previous games, but Alliance took it up a notch. I agree the add ons are expensive, and the only drawback I have, maybe they will change things in the future. Christmas IS coming hint hint.Version: 6.00.126

Getting GreedyLong time Kingdom Rush fan here. Love all the games, including this one but boy oh boy you guys are really starting to get greedy by charging for all of the new content. I hope KR 6 won’t be like this but I have doubts..Version: 7.00.26

It’s about timeBest tower defence of all time.Version: 5.00.18

Too broke to pay for all contentI enjoy the game but am very restricted because I don’t want to spend more money..Version: 5.00.20

Another great game!I have all 5 games, 1 through 5 and this one is awesome. Keep up the good work..Version: 4.00.60

Fun game too expensiveGame is great but having to pay so much extra inside the game feels like a rip off..Version: 5.00.18

Game reviewYou guys have done awesome I love this game. Thank you for this new level. I hope you guys keep building more of the games 10 stars for everyone of you guys..Version: 1.01.00

Where are the extra levels?I have the updates all applied and yet no extra levels as advertised on the October 3 update?? What’s going on?.Version: 2.00.38

Somewhat Meh This TimeI really like Ironhide and all of their games but this round feels like a rush job (no pun intended). Things just weren’t polished and up to the same calibre as other productions. Its relatively short - relatively easy and it doesn’t bring much new to the table (if the next ironhide game has a tentacle boss with lots of eyes then god help us). The towers don’t level up - you can’t really even tell that the heroes are levelling unless you check after each match and you can simply just purchase OP units. Not as much strategy is required as in previous titles so I dunno what happened. The pressure to produce and then sell for cheap is tough I gather especially with all those gachas out there. Honestly Junk World+ is like 10x better and definitely their best game. It’s really fun so I hope to see another of those..Version: 2.00.38

LackingAs a fan of the game who owns each game with all towers and heroes, I gotta say this new one needs something more than just another hero to use. Would’ve been cool to see ironhide expand upgrades whether be for heroes, towers..Version: 2.00.20

DecentIt’s decent, good graphics and really cool ideas with all the new towers but so far it’s kinda boring, I know it’s still being developed so hopefully it’ll be worth the 10 bucks by the end of development.Version: 1.01.00

One of the best mobile games out there! There is really only one word to describe the kingdom rush series, Perfect! Hope to see more kingdom rush in the future!.Version: 1.01.00

KR is the best TD game by farAlways enjoy Kingdom Rush’s TD games. Wish it didn’t cost so much to unlock everything but I beat every level and challenge on impossible difficulty with buying any towers or hero’s..Version: 1.01.00

Excellent evolution of the seriesProbably the most polished and challenging release yet. Looking forward to what the mini campaigns have to offer..Version: 1.01.00
