Still want to give 5 stars, butMan! I want to love this game & play it every day, but then I run up against an incomplete dictionary! It’s a word game! I gave it 3 stars before, but am rethinking that kindness and giving it 2. It accepts complicated and obscure scientific terms, but not the most basic American English vocabulary! So, here’s an example: pending is accepted, and defined as participle of ‘pend’, but ‘pend’ is NOT accepted as a word. What? How about a common fashion term ‘ruched’? How about the Scottish-Irish beret type cap ‘tam’? Lots of British English words, but very very weak on American English. How difficult is it to link to a good dictionary source?? Really, really want to give 5 stars, but the developers are missing the point of a word game. People that enjoy language find a good word game to be relaxing. It’s anything but when you get denied the existence of a common word! I’m currently just accepting the limitations and using it as an exercise of patience and acceptance. High Potential, horrible experienceI purchased the no-ads option of the game. Since it was only 99 cents, I planned to put Zen in my folder of regularly played games. However, as I hit the final acceptance, I noticed that just then it told me that it was only for one week and clicking it would make it a subscription. I did not appreciate the social engineering and will be cancelling. 

Also, for a game that purports to be calming and Zen, there is little to no time to play the game without hints being given for free where none were needed. If I pause to take a phone call, the screen is updated to give me pushes and hints instead of letting me relax and enjoy. In addition how relaxing is it to have a game tell you how quickly someone else solved a puzzle when you are working to sort out a word? My first play, I not only had ads but pushed with a lot of possible areas that would send me into ad hell if I grabbed my iPad wrong. Also, if you want to do ads in a zen game, why don't you make them for soothing things that someone who is trying to relax might enjoy? Pretty jewelry, a humidifier, soothing wall scents, pretty clocks, bath soap, etc. Even other "Zen style" games. People would be more receptive of that. 

Your word comprehension is very high as opposed to other games and I was impressed with that. I will be deleting the game and will cancel weekly payments. Like the game, but…..I really love this game, however recently this Zen Temple Quest appeared as I was going to my next level. I’m not interested, but even though there’s a ‘back’ arrow, but it does nothing and won’t let me opt out and continue the standard word game. If this continues to interrupt my play, I will delete the App. Very frustrating! Another problem has arisen for me, although I still love the game. However, I’m unhappy that you’ve made it into a competition by putting me on a leaderboard if I wanted to be or not. I play for my enjoyment and relaxation to see how well I do for myself. False AdvertisementLet me start with, I read the description before downloading and paid close attention to the ad that ultimately prompted me to give this download/game a shot. I’ve played plenty of games like this before over the years. To me, it is esthetically pleasing but I am not one who looks utilizing the audio features and expect the advertisement to live up to what it advertises. There is competition, and you’re constantly urged to join one, daily after so many rounds, and the placement of the join button can cause you to mistakenly tap it when moving to fast after completing a round. The ad I saw said no advertisements, and before writing this I had 3 occurrences of the same add in less than three minutes (because I finished the level quickly). The ads are so annoying because you have to wait before clicking around a few times to try and even get it off your screen- enough to make me close it out or delete it. What are the coins for?I really enjoy the game and use it to wind down pretty often - 1,706 puzzles worth. What some people said about stressful ads featuring child endangerment and suffering is accurate, and, though they’re cartoons, it starts to defeat the purpose (of unwinding). But, I do enjoy the actual game itself. I’ve even spent some money on it out of curiosity. Some of the smaller words are darker and repetitive, and many words count as extra finds and don’t populate the answer bubbles until you put in a repetitive one. But, it’s just a little annoying and isn’t likely to stop me from using the app in the near future. But I have to ask: what are the coins for? I have over 30,000 of them and I cannot figure out how they’re used. I see options to buy more but I haven’t the faintest idea why I would. Repetition and audioThis is a good game, I enjoy playing it when I have a few moments to spare and the challenge levels make me think, which I like. My only issue is that I recently made it to level 177, and the past few levels have been complete repetitions of ones I did recently. I understand the use of the same letters and different answers, but the ones I’ve played have all been the same and it is taking some of the joy out of the game since it turned into ‘try to remember past levels’ instead of the intended gameplay. Another issue I have is the audio, I typically turn off all audio for phone games so I can listen to music while I play, and I tried to do the same with this app, but it’s common for me to be playing and for my music to pause randomly despite there being no audio and it not pausing when I do the same action, and I can barely get through a song. Not so good nowI've really been into this game lately but just recently went out of my way to really try hard to win a challenge. I played it for a couple days and ended up being number 1, or should have been. I was 600 points ahead of the guy in second place with like an hour left and I didn't think there was any way for him to catch up at that point. Great game, but the Ads.The game itself is great, but having an ad pop up after every single level is CRAZY. I get you putting ads, but it’s almost like they force you to buy the “no ads” by doing that. I know it’s all about money for everyone it seems, but forcing people to pay for no ads is crazy. It’s not much, but it’s the fact that they basically force you to do it bc they put an ad after each level. Overall good gameBeen playing for 3 months or so. I play every day. Here’s a few things that would improve it. First, watch your English. Some words, like “deers” are incorrect. Sometimes proper nouns are acceptable (Ulster) but mostly not. Be consistent one way or the other. Second, abolish the butterfly collecting. It seems pointless and does not inspire. Put the treasure hunt and koi race on full time. For the treasure hunt, award more guesses for better play of the main game, such as putting a timer on it. I used to win the koi race or at least place, but now I never do. Not sure what’s up with that. Finally the new features are disappointing. The dial that theoretically gives you the chance to get more coins for watching the ad seems rigged. I keep catching the higher points only to then see I didn’t. Zen WordEven though I’ve only been playing this game for half an hour, I’ve been totally addicted. It truly is relaxing. There’s no rush, but it’s also not one of those pointless game where you do something for hours, and then you gained nothing from it. There’s a bit of competition, but it’s not crazy about it. It gives you some notifications while you’re playing to keep you on your toes. I’ve realized that this game isn’t just you playing a word game, it feels like I’m just somewhere else. If you ever feel like you need to go somewhere but you’re stuck, download Zen World. It’s completely free, and download it to try it. Play for 15 minutes, and you’ll understand everything I’m saying. False AdvertisingThe app itself is designed well; the puzzles are fun, it’s easy to navigate, and the daily challenge is actually a challenge(unlike many other games). My problem with this app is the ads. Ads themselves aren’t an issue, I understand needing them to keep an app free. The issue stems from the fact that they advertise the game on other apps, and their advertisements make a big point about being ad free. I was skeptical about that being true when I decided to doubled the app through one of these ads, thinking it was worth a shot since I like word puzzles. Lo and behold, it was false advertising and the game is riddled with tons of ads, many for weird games that seem to promote off putting and even sometimes abusive behavior. I really like that team members are from all over the world and not just local! I enjoy killing time with this gameThe game mechanic is easy to navigate, the dictionary is challenging without being frustrating and I really appreciate the lack of community “competition”. I just want to chill with a word game, not compete , or feel like I need to compete. I would like to point out that the lack of an easy way to “X” out of an ad after it has played is frustrating. I really liked this word game FOR SEVERAL MONTHSI finally found a word game that fit me personally and as a player. Unfortunately as many games tend to do. The developers apparently had an “update” they were trying to pitch and relentlessly pushed City Word on me to download every time I tried to play. The vibe of Zen Word was calming, beautifully designed and good exercise for the brain, and pushing another game on a player so aggressively is counterproductive to the whole point of Zen Word. I’m not willing to change from a game that meets my needs to one that does not. If Zen Word has actually been replaced by City Word, I really don’t get it. If City Word is just another game developed by the same folks I should just be able to say “No Thanks” to their pitch to download another game they have to offer and let it go at that. So good!This game is so good. I’m on level like 5300 so I do play it quite a bit, buuut i love it. They are constantly improving the game- over the year or so I’ve been playing it, they have improved it many times which is a great thing. Advertising through this site is not vetted, so enjoy the game, but be wary of ads that appear too good to be true. Too many annoying ads.Great game. Really really enjoy the game itself. Why did you change coins so that they are worthless?You used to be able to use coins to buy hints. Why has this feature been taken away? Fun game, incredibly annoying experienceI find the actual puzzle very engaging and enjoyable! I also like the daily goals. The problem is everything else. Ads are not only long, repetitive, and annoying, they’re impossible to close without being sent to the App Store and play every time you exit the app even for a moment and then return. Even if you’re just sitting on the main menu/home screen a time when no ad would normally play, if you exit the app and the come back to it later you have to watch an extra ad for daring to leave. False advertisingThe app is good and very relaxing, but in most adverts that attract many users to the game it states there are no ads. I’ve been playing for about half an hour. The first ten or so levels do not have ads but after that you begin to encounter them every other level. Would have given you 5 stars but …I would have given you five stars as the game is fun to play, is great for maintaining or improving your vocabulary. I loved it lol except for one problem. There are some words that you used that are simply not real words. When you hit the button to give you the words definition, your crew has written “We are still looking for a definition for this word” or something to that effect. In other words, you simply used a made up word to fill in the spaces in a puzzle. No bueno. There are many puzzles where you could have used real words but instead chose to use made up words. Changes again!!!!!!I came in first again this week like I have in the past 15 or 20 weeks but I did not get my thousand points. What has changed the number 1200 came up and when I pressed I didn’t get anything. What are you doing with this game? I still think you use fake people because they don’t show up on the general board. They show up on the list of the game board, but everybody in the universe goes on the other one you don’t have to be playing a game. It tells everybody there are 100 people on that list and yet almost always the people who I wake up to 40 or 50 points in the morning on Friday. They never show up on that list again it seems like a scam to me is bad enough that I play and I win but I didn’t get any points for it and there was some weird thing about 1200 but I’m thinking are you charging me 1200 are you charging before the 1200 you better not be because I press the button that should’ve gotten me the winning amount I didn’t get a winning amount unless you put it in my stupid butterfly collection, which I don’t even know how to play that I can’t get it to close. It stays open even when I don’t want it there I have to completely shut down my computer to get out of it. Fair reviewI like word games. I especially like word games that I actually get to play with some continuity between ads. While I have absolutely no problem with ads in and of themselves, your advertisement which was what got me to download this game falsely stated that there were NO ads (which by the way is illegal - it’s called deceptive advertising and violates consumer protection laws governed by the federal trade commission (FTC) so you really should change that ASAP before someone reports you, there are free reporting forms for anyone to use on their website so if you leave it as it is, anyone can do it at anytime), the number of ads, the placement of the ads in the game during play, and the ads that were chosen are the problem. I play many games and many have ads. That’s not the point. You can also have ads if you do it tastefully. Currently your ads are soul sucking and crushing because of the frequency and type of ads. I am a woman. I don’t want to watch ads for games where if you “win” the mini game you get to strip the woman in the picture of her clothing. And I get that ad A LOT. It’s disgusting. I also get other similar ads and I have never in my entire life looked at or played any games like that on my phone or even looked at things like that on my phone. False AdvertisingI actually really enjoyed the game itself, but I could not be more disappointed with the misleading tactics (and almost straight up lies) that this game used to lure in consumers. I downloaded this game when it popped up as an ad in a different gaming app that I play. The main reason for downloading was that they claimed to be ad-free. This COULD NOT be further from the truth. The ads in this game are insane. More ads pop up in this game than most of the other games I use. Since I enjoyed playing, I let this go. The next incident was the one that lead me to delete the game entirely. I chose to subscribe to the free trial for the VIP level of the game. Not Zen, inconsistent words allowedThis name is really inappropriate and frankly cultural appropriation of a spiritual practice and cultural way of being. This game is NOT ZEN. It will give you pop-ups like “Play the zen race now! Beat other players!” How on earth is that zen? Either pick a different name or let your game just be relaxing. You can pay a dollar a week to remove ads or else see them between every level. There is no fair rule book about what counts as a word. You usually can’t do any proper nouns, but then sometimes it will have one. Sometimes you have to try random letters to get one and then you click the definition to see that it’s the name of the currency in some small country. Sometimes there are even abbreviations! Need some sort of category for each puzzle or set of puzzles.This app is lacking a few things that are keeping me from giving it 5 stars and the most important one is a lack of some sort of category for the words. Too Many Obnoxious Ads for a game advertised as “ad free”My first issue with this game is the false advertising they put out. Great game but…So I fully understand that ads help games to be free, and if I don’t want to be bothered with ads then I can purchase the ad-free version. That is not my issue here. Mixed experienceFirst of all DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLAY ON TWO DEVICES. No Support Response for Frozen GameI was really enjoying playing this game. Unfortunately, it froze on me several times. The first few times I just let it go and simply redid that level. Fun but has flawsI did like this game, I’ve been using for a few weeks now or so. I’m in the 1700’s right now and I have been noticing there are several words that the game recognizes when it wants to. Simple words like fan, con, ice, pot, die, dig, flour and the list goes on. 80% ads, 20% gameThe game itself is pretty good, but the amount of ads is overwhelming. There is an ad after every level, any time you open the app, any time you unlock your phone (even if the app was already open), any time you reply to a text and reopen the app, and any time you click on literally anything within the game. Terrible updateI can’t figure out why developers think they need to change things that are working fine. The last update is pointless and changes the game into something that I will soon delete. I will give them the benefit of the doubt for about a week to see whether I can get used to the new app but I sincerely doubt it. Nope, it’s gone.
