Crippled the application with new update.About a month ago, early March, you published an update and pushed the application back to the Stone Age of iPad applications. You crippled the screen rotate capability that earmarks a state of the art iPad app functionality. After trying the new app for a month, I finally gave up and cancelled my subscription. None of your update histories advertised you froze the app into landscape mode. I went to the Apple Store thinking there was something wrong with my iPad Pro 512k. When I complained to you, you replied that it gave the user a more immersive experience. Whoever sold you guys that line of thought really wasn’t aware how incorrect it was. Previously, all the functionality and data was at your fingertips in whatever mode the user was. Weather on the go in portrait mode to get weather at a glance (or more detailed data) or sitting with a keyboard in landscape mode at a desk doing editing and graphic work. So, I tried it for a month. I noted three days I used the app to see weather data associated with storms. The rest of the, three or for times a day, I didn’t bother with the useless time robbing app and went to the Apple Weather app and others that I didn’t have to whip the iPad around to squint at the, now clunky, non-intuitive, time consuming, screens. You really messed up an absolutely fabulous app. And this issue had nothing to do with the massive amount of advertising in the free version everyone complains about. Concise & informativeThat’s why I like it. And usually showing the latest. Ari is exceptional as are the women. The current explanation of phenomena is well done. It walks a nice tightrope between the scientists & the non Gives a good overview of many current events across the globe. Plz stop lumping all extreme events with climate change. It is too close to climate crisis which we are NOT in. Ensure your readers understand we are seeing more “Named Storms’ - because we can detect them now. And statements like “ it’s the worst in history “ are very misleading. We’ve only had good data for the last 100 yr- and records from the 1800’s are patchy across the world. And you well know 100 yr to the Earth’s systems is not even a blink. You should be knowledgeable enough to state this more clearly. OCT22 Thank you for describing weather events in terms of actual historical dates. You have done a good job of steering clear of the word “crisis” which is still debatable. You know the Anasazi abruptly left Mesa Verde in CO 1200 years ago- we still don’t know why. Must’ve felt good to be able to say the extreme drought now in the SW did in fact occur 12,000 years ago! Keep up the good work. I rely on you to monitor both my home , barns and greenhouse to determine what I must provide in terms of heat. I cannot remember but is their a more effective way to describe barometric pressure? Since I can remember while living in S New England it has never dropped below 29 nor gone above 30. Not Accurate4I give this app 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars, because the weather temperature and rain alerts are NOT accurate, at least where I live. First, I've had this app for years and it ask me to give a review and when I tried, it said I have to purchase it first. So I had to delete it and all my settings I had just to write this review. Second, the temperature isn't accurate! No matter what thermometer I use, and I've used 3 different digital thermometers and 2 mercury thermometers and there are supposed to be 2 weather stations close to my home and both readings are always the same, even though the locations are supposed to be different. The temperatures I get close to my home (from The Weather Channel) are constantly, approximately 2-4 and today 6 degrees higher than than all the readings I personally get from right outside of my home(in the shade). During really cloudy weather, I constantly get rain warnings and at least 90% of the time there is no rain, showers or even drizzles. when this app says there's a 20% chance of rain, there is NO rain. A lot of the time when the forecast says 50-60% chance of rain, there is NO rain and sometimes there are blue sky's overhead. I don't even know why I look at the forecasts from this app. The Weather Channel, wants you to pay $3.99 EVERY year for no ads. It should be a one-time purchase for no ads! App is Slow to Load & Doesn't Always Show Accurate Data on Phone Interface Unless I Open AppThis free weather app, even if one doesn't upgrade to the 'Premium' edition, is the best weather app out there, except for one HUGE problem: The widget won't show anything at all on my homescreen except for a blank blue box with light blue lines inside of it. If they'd just fix this one CHRONIC issue (yes, I've had to deal with it from the beginning) then I'd raise my rating to 5 stars instead of 3. As it currently stands, I can only view the local weather if I actually click on the app and open it up, which is not only incredibly inconvenient and annoying but also drains my battery significantly. I wish that they'd make it so that I can always check the weather at just a glance, but no matter what I do to try to resolve the issue myself, it still remains just a useless blue rectangle. I'm not sure if it's just my phone and/or my Internet company that's making it do this, but somehow I doubt either one of those things, because all of my other apps work perfectly fine with zero problems. Everything else about this app is a 10/10 though, aside from the one MAJORLY ANNOYING aforementioned issue that I just detailed. Weather Channel people, PLEASE FIX IT ASAP AND PERMANENTLY. Can’t rely on you for weather anymoreIt was better in format and weather daily news and hurricane following before the Trump cuts . I now go to Fox for my weather too because that’s where they give the weather news coverage that you used to . I’m sad about the changes . Does tell us what we need to know about my local weather and IS weather where family live all over , including my children . And you don’t date your news accurately anymore, can’t tell when each piece actually occcur because much you say as news is old and then there is the actual current Weather news is NOT THERE ANYMORE . LOVED this app BEFORE the recent UPDATE...I use this app numerous times a day, so imagine my surprise when I went on it yesterday & it was completely different. I can accept that there would be a normal “adjustment” phase with such a major update, but this one is truly the worst! I preferred this app to all others but I may be on my way to looking for another option if they don’t make some changes, & fast. 1) the background use to be an easy-on-the-eyes blue. Now most screens are WHITE. It’s hard to even find the info you’re looking for & then when you do it’s not pleasant to look at bc it’s too bright & w/out much contrast. 2) I wish you’d give us back the “every hour over the next few days aka hourly” report which use to be on the scroll down. Now if you want to look at it you have to click another icon down at the bottom to see it. (And it’s also WHITE so it’s hard to follow). 3) after years of looking at the forecast in portrait, now the first thing you see is this distracting, moving graph for temp that reminds me of 7th grade math class. Overall, the graphics are just awful. I feel bad saying this bc I’m sure your team put a lot of effort into it but I’m just being honest. When I click on the app now, a feeling of “yuck and dread” comes over me and I don’t want to stay there long. Seems like maybe you guys didn’t beta test this enough? Oklahoma weatherOur weather volatile and the weather channel app is always available night or day on my phone. I use it everyday, checking temperatures and humidity levels, as well as winds. I also use it when traveling out of state. It is more reliable and accurate than our local weather channels that tent to hype up the severity. Having the 6 hour radar at my fingertips I am confident to take appropriate actions to be prepared when necessary but also to relax when I can easily see that we will be safe where ever we are. We still watch the local weather stations and follow area recommendations, but being able to track the sever weather on my phone no matter where I am at is the best. We were out for dinner and a sever storm came up suddenly. When we got the warning we decided to head home immediately. We had time to get our car in the garage and prepare are property before it hit us. We still received a lot of hail damage but our vehicles were safe in our garage. I highly recommend using it even when traveling as it knows your exact location and gives warnings where ever you are. It has helped us in Florida, Utah, Colorado, and California when visiting friends or family. It has protected us when traveling on scenic road trips and gives us advance travel warnings..SFurberVersion: 15.5

New update looks much betterI’m seeing a lot of 1 star reviews about the new update and just wanted to give my two cents. Personally I haven’t encountered any of the issues other people are saying - forced landscape mode, map instead of weather, forced to create an account - I don’t see any of these things. I did encounter a dialog box to create an account when I first opened the app after the update, and at first I was really annoyed, but then I realized you can X out of it. The X was very hard to see which I agree is bad UX (but for better or for worse I’m used to finding the X from years of encountering full screen ads in this app 😂) In terms of functionality it’s still the same as before, daily/hourly/weekly forecasts, ability to change location, etc. but now with a more modern and pleasant UI. I’ve been a user of this app for years and I would say I actually encounter fewer ads now than before - it used to be that any time I went to the hourly forecast I’d get a full screen ad, now that no longer happens. This is my go to app for weather and I consistently get more accurate results than my friends who use the default iPhone weather app which is why I tolerate the ads and stick with this one. I do have one gripe with the update and that is my widgets no longer work! I had a lock screen widget and a home screen widget, now one’s blank and the other is stuck on the weather from before the update. Hope this is a known issue and that you guys are working on fixing. Lots of ads, orientation problems, etcNotifications from the iphone Home Screen often don’t take you to the clickbait video they are showcasing. I once decided to see if I could find the two promised videos I had seen headlines for and gave up after 10 or 15 minutes. You have to watch an ad before you can watch a video. This would not be so incredibly annoying if they had several different ads to show. I seem to get the same ad in Spanish 9 times out of ten now. I don’t speak Spanish. The videos have gone from being a few minutes long to what is sometimes only several seconds. “I wasted my time watching an ad to see that?!” They reuse video content by changing the headline to get you to click on it a second time. Very annoying, but they accomplished their objective: you just watched another ad. Cha-Ching. The most annoying thing about this app, however, is the videos that make you read text. The screen always reverts to small so you have to resize it to full screen, and by the time you get it done the video is moving on to the next slide and text. For whatever reason, this causes the screen to minimize again and you start over trying to get back to full screen… this is not a problem I have ever experienced with any other video app! I don’t even know how you could make the video do something stupid like that, but these guys apparently figured out a way… The most ironic thing about this app is that I NEVER use it to check the weather. Could be great app if it workedWhen it works I like the app. I like the changes and if it loads it is a useful tool. For me the videos and weather updates are very good. Not sure what the problem is, but for some reason and this seems to happen frequently — the app doesn’t load (spinning disk) or it just crashes and restarts and then back to spinning disk. So if it loads (might work for days and then not work for days) it is a good app. I have noticed the app works best in places with high speed internet. In a place outside or in a place that lacks high speed internet or great cell service, the app just won’t open quickly (maybe 5-10 mins to open). I have an iPhone X with the newest software and the newest version of the app, so I don’t think it is the phone. Anyway, if the stability can be improved and it can open quickly than it would be a great app. Update: I downloaded the new version and it worked ok for a week (I.e. seemed like an improvement) and then crash city and or the spinning wheel of Watson after that. Now it is useless again. Weather is such an important thing to know and I have no idea why the concept of an app that works is so hard. I stick by what I wrote above - when the app works, it is great, but for some reason it doesn’t work most of the time. A must have app!Go anywhere in the world ( sometimes I travel just within the app and can go to distant lands, { recently traveled to England due to a TV show to view this location as a future vacation destination }), and get a real time view of the current conditions, hourly, or a 10 day view of the predicted weather conditions with radar observations. We rely heavily on this app whether following our home (mountains SoCal) or when visiting family or vacationing. We have between a 15 to 35 degree difference between our elevation and the valley below us, which really helps us plan our day “down the hill”. Additionally when we see our grandchildren in the Central Valley of CA, it is in very different climate region, to even our son in Idaho. Traveling to these places makes it easier when you can predict the weather, and with this need of information the Weather Channel app is referencing point from the start of planning any trip, checked right before departure, checked along the way, while monitoring back home as well. This app is truly an important part of our lives and is relied upon daily. I can’t say enough good about it’s value and the piece of mind we can get when knowing it is available 24/7. Keeps getting worseI’ve had this app since I first had an iPhone and The Weather Channel came out with an app. since then, I have experienced this app going downhill from the very beginning. It’s only gotten worse each and every year that goes by it is to the point where you can’t even open up the app because it overloads your phones ram memory. There is way too many ads that pop up that are probably contributing to the overloaded system. It’s extremely reliable when it comes to the temperature, but that’s it and trying to get that temperature you struggle and it only works good for a while if you have a brand new phone after that once your phone is just a few months older this app constantly freezes, constantly shut down and constantly overloads the phone and shut it down as well. not sure what else to explain to The Weather Channel but somebody needs to go and fix their app because this is the worst app for Weather app that I have experience now which is sad that when I first downloaded it, it was the best one yet. Hopefully The Weather Channel reads their reviews because they really need to take a serious look at this app. If they have that many people that downloaded it you would think they would take it more seriously and keep their app updated and keep adding new features while making it workable. New format for weather app.I preferred the older weather app compared to this new one version. It was much easier to use and scroll through; easier to navigate and understand than this new weather app. It’s way more complicated. I’ve had this iPhone paid off for years and the apps I have are what I need & want for free. I’m elderly and disabled. Bloated and ClutteredMy review of the previous version: Weather Channel finally killed their old app. I've been using it for years. It was elegant in appearance, loaded quickly, took up one third the HD space of the new one and gave you weather at a glance. However, if you want the whole kitchen sink (and the contents of all your cupboards too) on your screen, along with annoying video ads, then this new one is the app for you. It's Weather Bug on steroids. I deleted it after only a day. I gave it three stars, because if radar is all you want, it's pretty good. My review of the latest version: Thank you Weather Channel. I used to be able to tap the weather map and enlarge it to full screen. Now it only goes half screen with information I was able to read, understand and absorb in under a minute filling the other half. Why can't I make the map go full screen like before? Rating - three stars. Not nearly a cluttered as before. Time will tell if it remains as bloated and buggy as it has been the last many years. Map on only half the screen - stupid and unnecessarily restrictive. Maybe in another ten years the app will be as good as it was ten years ago, before IBM bought The Weather Channel. Keep trying. Best weather app here’s whyOh I loved it it was the best weather app I’ve ever seen like you told me the weather one day for the next few weeks it was so good that I did not have to go on another weather app or look for something else as my Google it doesn’t tell me the right kind of weather for today or the next week or anything like that but this weather app tells me whatever whatever whatever the weather is everywhere it’s pretty good too. Great (kinda)I used to love this app it’s great lots of information but the app has went down hill I totally understand ads it’s supports the app but because of how much there is the app is so slow and glitchy I’m like I’ll upgrade to premium to find it’s a membership why can’t I just pay once and be don’t I’m not gonna pay monthly to check the weather. The app has gotten slow and the UI is too packed it’s too cluttered with a ton of buttons and pop ups now. Notifications in this app is very great I get the weather alerts on my Apple Watch and phone. Let’s talk about the Apple Watch app it’s fine gives good information just kinda confusing to use I’m surprised there’s no ads in the watch app I wouldn’t be surprised if they added it. This review sounds very negative but there are some good thing the radar is great the detail and videos on weather are nice The iOS 14 widgets are nice I’m surprised there are no ads. The app definitely needs some speed updates like I said I’m fine with ads but it’s too the point we’re there are thousands and pop ups and it’s making the app really slow. I’m probably still gonna use this app sometimes but I’m going to dark sky it’s $5 once and it’s seedy smooth no ads and has a lot of the same features and notifications. Overall with the Weather Chanel I’m sad at how bad this app has gotten it needs a simple redesign and speed improvements you can keeps the ads but don’t make too many where’s the app is too slow and glitchy. It’s… okayThe WTC app isn’t bad. If you want weather there are better apps out there (I don’t know why this is #1 on the weather charts to be honest). Perhaps the one thing that separates it from the others are the videos they offer. The problem is the commercials in between the videos are annoying and repetitive. It’s as if there are only one or two companies paying to advertise in their app, and because of that, we all have to pay the price by listening to the same corporate jingle in between every single video. We should get a free upgrade just for having to watch these ads over and over and over again. Couldn’t they let us watch 2-3 videos between commercials? Couldn’t they mix things up a bit and serve up multiple ads? Also, it would be nice if when I go to another app and come back, that they saved the spot I was in when watching videos. Instead, they actually put you back on the main screen so you have to navigate back to the videos and then scroll through them to find the one that you were just watching. These are basic workflow decisions that would make a tremendous difference in the overall experience (using the app). It would be nice to see the WTC developers address this. There is one more thing… and candidly, it’s almost as bad as the ads between videos. Recently, the folks at the WTC decided to throw up a full-screen “Go Premium!” self-promoting ad when you first open it, and it works on a time delay… so you are forced to sit there and wait for the X button to show up before you can get back to what’s important. The worst possible thing you can do to a user of your app is prevent them from doing what they want to do (in your app), and that is exactly what these stupid time-delay ads do!.Goldy121Version: 12.35.1

Let’s go back in TimeI own a manufacturing business in the South. Since we work in a mostly open warehouse the weather is very important there was a time when y’all had sections of importance. Videos: At one time the primary videos offered were segments of weather throughout the country. i . e. Northeast, southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and Northwest. Now it’s a melange of Weather top story, then somewhat insignificant stories with background music and subtitles of stories not necessarily pertinent to U.S weather on a daily basis. It seems you have to forage through the pooo to get what your looking for. There was also monthly data that showed averages for one’s area and where we are compared to the average on a rolling average. That’s completely gone. Nowadays it’s the basic local facts and sensationalism. I’m afraid that you don’t know how to get it back. Lastly, I find it interesting that your posting a 4.6 average when the Lions share of comments are negative. Himmmm Math channel? Update; I had to correct my score. I originally gave it 2 Stars. Wouldn’t want to be without itI love, love, love the new app! I have always watched the weather channel In the mornings daily at home growing up by my fathers example now my daughter does too. Only thing I keep on the television at hotels when I travel. Now with the app I can have it in my pocket 24/7. Excellent forecasts! Love the radar! And love love love that it’s familiar faces and truth reporting. There is so much more to weather reporting than what it’s doing outside right now worldwide. The only channel I see real up to date reporting with no filters for viewers pleasure. It’s real. I even used to share to my Twitter when it existed. You are the only go to for anything weather or climate related. You guys have done a phenomenal job at keeping up with the times or actually I feel staying ahead of the times. You truly have always allowed for me to feel confident even in severe weather. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and being there for me and my family and those I care about. Weather AlertsI would have given you five stars if the videos always come with captions whenever the host speaks that we can switch on CC. It frustrates me and my husband when all the weather videos come without captions. No way is that we can increase the volume to listen. We’re completely Deaf that we rely on Sign Language therefore we need captions on whenever the host talks/speaks. Please simply switch on Captions. So we can see what the news is about. It would save Deaf people’s lives when we need to look out how safe or not is about the weather news. No captions is like to shut up the Deaf people. That is really serious. Please do pay attention to the needs of the captions. If you are worried about the size of the captions, we can adjust ourselves with the sizes of the font which is like the hearing people increase or decrease the volume of the sounds… please recognize the needs of Deaf people; not only Deaf people, the senior citizens happen to experience the hearing losses. Weather variety multiple locationsI have had this app for awhile and use it to not only get local weather but weather for various locations for my son's work travel as surprisingly conditions vary greatly within a 50 mile area which one needs to know if commuting. I get road conditions and various alerts ( rain, snow, lighting, etc) per area. All helpful. Last year because of the reports I got, I saved my son an unnecessary trip because of the weather report. I enjoy the various videos also. I am editing review because of the problems I have been having with the app which appears to be all over where this app is used. I contacted support and only got a service standard reply which is basically sent by a computer. I am highly disappointed that I can’t get the app to work anymore because it was very helpful when it worked. I am not sure if the malfunction is due to the updates on IOS which also requires apps to also update. GreatI've always used the new STORM app and ever since that big update, it's been less than mediocre. That thing looked pretty but not well designed and the bugs and lag. Didn't even have a daily forecast write-up. So I found this one today and so far, what a difference! So much better. This app, so far, doesn't lag, it doesn't crash, it loads quick, easy to setup. TrustworthyI use this App around the world and have found it to be the most reliable of all. It is by far the most accurate and trustworthy. It updates frequently and I enjoy the extra features like the allergy report etc. The only challenge I ever have with it is with the radar. It works well but the coverage doesn’t extend to many places outside of Europe and North America. Still the hourly forecast is often very precise..TheworldofmwVersion: 9.5

Wonderful update!Really appreciate the dark mode you've added within the app. So much easier to read everything! App is real nice & easy to navigate, with actually all basic weather needed, nothing missing here. Map options are thorough & informative. I notice the big ads are a little less on the front screen, which is a lot better, as some of the ads are at least Weather Channel related info, which is helpful. It's too bad though that the NWS severe weather (government issued) notifications are only issued for US locations & not for canadian current locations. (They have some options, but not the actual government severe alerts I was hoping for.) That's the only set-back, otherwise, I love your daily e-mail weather briefings & lock screen, home-screen widgets. I use both those for my severe weather alerts if they should pop up. New Update is Terrible.I have used TWC app for years with no problems. Now, even before the new update, I noticed I would get rain warnings, and about 90% of the time there would be NO rain. I tried changing my location data, but it didn’t help. After the new update, the inaccuracies became much worse. It seems to not have my location correct, or looks at a large area of my town vs my exact location. There are many things I don’t like about the new update, especially the radar. It used to scan nice and slow so I could see details, which would help with some of the inaccuracies described above. Now the cursor speeds across the screen so you can’t see details and I can’t seem to see any way to slow it down. Useless to me for what I’d prefer to see. There is also less information regarding hurricane season and potential developing areas. I live on the west coast of Florida, and compared to the previous version, I get little to no information from this app. Since Hurricane Ian, when trees fell on my house, damaged my roof, totaled my car, and left me without electricity for 12 days, I look for as many updates as I can get. I have lived here all my life, and I am now 68 years old, a widow who lives alone (with my Golden Retriever). There are many Floridians like me who depend on TWC for peace of mind, especially with the climate changes. New Premiums are just awful plus Crashes often AI VOICESo I have been using this app for over 3 years now and it was amazing and everything was great from radars to videos and the simple premium. Now however it is TERRIBLE! The new premiums are just money grabs at this point. Like I get getting premium to access some new stuff. BUT LOCK THE OLD STUFF? Also Premium is 2 tiers now, 1st is just to take away the ads and add some minor stuff while the second is to actually access a lot of the things that we’re taken away. The cost is 4.99…. 4.99 just to get access back to stuff you lose and had for so many years. I was ok with premium, cause it was 1 premium and it took away ads, there was not any limiting other than wind speeds in radar. Now it’s just not viable to pay for any premium. The 1st tier is basically useless and the second is just too expensive. Now time for bugs: For past year I have been having the same bugs and crashes. It’s very common for the app to Crash on me while am using it or just freeze. I have sent a bug report but nothing has changed. Been a year so I don’t know if it’s going to ever be fixed. What a jokeSeriously download the free version and try it out. It’s possibly the worst app I’ve ever downloaded. Too many add, also seems like they overloaded it, or tried to make it do more so that not it’s virtually none usable. Seriously how hard is it the have current, hourly, daily all in an easy to read. Ads PredatoryI like using this for severe weather but they shouldn’t allow just any ad on there. There should be quality control. They have ads that have an x that appears in the top right corner. Which of course you’re going to click. And it opens a website. If you get curious and wait another second x appears on top left after a certain time and that’s the real one. This ad is for temu. Ads that scam people into interacting should be avoided by legitimate companies. This one plays constantly and when I’m tired or something I STILL click it and it just really brings the quality of the app down for me. Hate the new updateWhen I look at the weather app on my ipad, I don't want to see a screen with 75% radar and a small box on the side with weather statistics. I can't figure out how to reduce the radar to see more of the data. That's why I subscribed to the weather app in the first place. It was so nice to see all the information about the day on one screen. Wind, humidity, feels like, temp, rain probability is so minute. The display looks like it is designed for a phone. And now I have to turn my ipad sideways to see the weather. It wouldn't be so bad if radar didn't take up so much of the screen. What a disappointment for an update. My previous preference was for the weather app that Apple bought, but that took away my favorite app. So I found the Weather Channel app. Loved it to the point of paying the $29+ to get add free and more detailed weather. Now will probably cancel my subscription. I don't want to scroll through the small portion on the right side just to see all the settings, I could see at a glance. Why the drastic change?This update was so unnecessary. The old interface was clear and easy to use, tracked favorite places, and had all of the tools easy to find. This new one looks like any standard website template that companies use to look sleek and cool and end up hiding what people need. I added my favorite places and can’t find them anywhere, yet when I try to add them again, get a message that they’ve already been saved. Where? In the daily outlook, days have been abbreviated to the first letter. So now I have to look closer at the tiny text to see which T or S the forecast is showing. Tuesday? Thursday? Saturday? Sunday? Good luck. Even truncating the date is jarring. What was wrong with 6/17 instead of just 17? You may think you’re cleaning it up to be clean and current, but please talk to someone in a user experience position who can tell you how just little tweaks to information presentation can help give the whole story instead of asking people to fill it in themselves. I vote for the previous version of this app. While The Weather Channel has the best information and forecasts, I loathe being forced into setting up an account just to check the weather, which I do throughout the day. Ads ads adsThis used to be a great app but the ads are so aggressive now. If you tap to expand a forecast you are interrupted with a full page ad that you can’t get rid of for a few seconds. They aren’t even relevant ads either it’s those fake garbage ads like, “ if you were born before 1960 you can lower your mortgage”. I can handle embedded ads when scrolling but I refuse to bullied into looking at a full page ad you can’t get rid of until you stare at it for the required amount of time. The app has also become unreliable, it regularly crashes when you try to open it. The radar takes forever to load if it doesn’t crash first. During the last couple of tornado warnings we have had, I have been navigating to the National Weather Service website to get the most relevant information. I was huddled up on the lowest level of my apartment during those May 2019 Dayton Ohio Memorial Day tornadoes (multiple EF4 monsters). They were tearing through less than 10 miles from my location. Just think about how scary it is to know a tornado is on the ground near you but you can’t see the radar because the app keeps crashing or you have to wait for your ad to play. I understand nothing is for free but seeing how more and more simple features have become locked behind paywalls has been a very frustrating experience while at the same time the scant features left behind are hard to use since they are so cluttered with ads. Ad OverloadThis app could be, and even use to be very helpful. However, after each recent update, it has become less informative and a less reliable resource. There have been increased automatic prompts to create an account and an overwhelming amount of advertisements, which make it difficult to find the information you are looking for without interruption. Now, regular new pop-up ad videos that you can’t click out of or close, basically leaving you forced to watch in order to keep your spot have been added. Absolutely useless now. Illegible! Terrible graphics!As of about three days ago, they updated the app and have used a font that nobody likes and can read. Additionally, it's dangerous if you're just trying to check a quick forecast, and you have to squint. The videographic for clear and sunny is dangerous. It's actually like flashing in your eyes and it makes it very difficult to read the print below if you're gonna have a video of sun through leaves turn down the brightness a little bit. This used to be useful. I'll be a bit clunky but now I should not have to put glasses on to read this stupid thing. It looks like a four year old stick figures instead of actually a highly paid developer using AI. The very simple but beautifully arranged Weather Puppy is far superior at this point. I've switched back over to that because the few things that it lacks are far over shadowed by great graphics and cute pups to view. I don't see a button or area to click for settings anymore, where you could customize the font or do anything differently. There's no way that I would buy the paid version of this was supposed to be slickest weather app available, but it's an epic fail at this point. If you LOVE watching ADS, this app is for YOU!!I have used this app for my weather outlook for about ten years, and the quality over the last several years has just plummeted. Compared to the apps my friends used to use for daily and hourly weather predictions, i felt this was always the closest to actual. I have used the Weather Channel App to time my gardening, mowing, outings, and lawn applications for roughly the last decade, and now I can barely trust its accuracy beyond the two hour outlook. 70% chances of rain within the next four hours…poof, gone. Looking at the radar, i could even see that myself! On top of the worsening weather predictions, now to switch from the home screen to another screen - hourly or daily outlook, for example - i have to watch an ad for a piece of trash game that probably collects more data from my phone than it is of any entertainment value. Unfortunately, that’s not entirely surprising since for decades their website has been hocking clickbait ads for less than reputable financial and health/wellbeing sites (the website was my go-to source many years before smart phones). Of course, you can get rid of all those ads, now…because there is a pay option!! Problem solved, right??!! Finally, The Weather Channel decides we need to name winter storms now?? Give me a break! You might as well get goop instead.I am a programmer, yet this new app makes me want to cry. I can only imagine what less tech savvy people are feeling with this new mess. The new app prioritizes wellness over weather. If I wanted a website about skincare and health advice I would go over to Gwyneth Paltrow’s equally useless goop. New radar is clunky and slow, let you put lightning as an overlay that’s nearly transparent and doesn’t let you see the distance and timing like it used to of the lightning. Additionally lightning is no longer available on the Home Screen, even if you say that’s one of the first things you want to see. You can also no longer click to see what warnings are in place for different areas for the severe weather overlay. The updates and lost functionality are dangerous and take away the abilities that I used to keep myself safe and productive. Living in Florida and being able to see what kind of watches and warnings were around me with a click, and to see what lightning strikes has happened at what distance and time kept me safe and let me go on walks and run errands freely. You can’t adjust what’s on your home screen from what I can find, so I HAVE to use that horrific useless radar. Bring back the portions of the Home Screen with the tropical center and the lightning nearby. New Update IssuesThe latest version, 14.8, seems to be going for artsy/media over information. While there appears to be more information available for users, it’s more a matter of finding it. Important information is hidden behind separate pages that aren’t intuitive to click on or are part of scroll bars there you have to scroll left and right. The app seems much more interested in advertising weather stories or selling ad space to third parties. I understand that ads are needed as a form of revenue, but I have no interest in watching videos or reading articles about weather in places I don’t live, while at the same time, I’m scrolling all over to find information about my local weather. I like the increased use of notifications, and it’s nice to get a notification in the morning of my weather for the day (although, it would be nicer if I could pick when that gets sent. Seems to be 8am for me and by then, I’m already at work) or getting notified of severe weather. However, when I click in to view the severe weather warning for my area, the warning won’t load… but the ad under it will! Overall, the new appearance needs an overhaul. The font is so small and hard to read (no very helpful for us visually impaired folks!). I just want a simple interface to look at the weather; this new version is just too “flowery”/artsy for me. Frustrations of a longtime userI've used different versions of this app for many years (perhaps as long as a decade), and I've purchased the ad-free version for the last several years. However, issues with the awkward implementation of the new UI is causing me to outright delete the app. The biggest issue on iPad is that the radar map takes up 2/3 or more of the screen and it can not be shrunk down to a smaller size. The amount of space left for everything else is so small that you have to scroll to find virtually any of the info. Previously I could get all of the info I cared about at a glance or by toggling a tab setting between hourly or daily forecasts. There desperately needs to be an option to shrink the map and expand the area with the weather data. Additionally, the app repeatedly logs me out with no explanation. I've tried getting used to the new UI since it first arrived, but it's continued to just be a big frustration. Considering the screen size of an iPad, it's ridiculous that better use couldn't be made of the available space. EDIT: Reinstalled in late June 2024 to test app again. The majority of issues about the app remain unchanged or unfixed. Additionally, I forgot to mention that when the app gives a Severe Weather Notification, if you click on it to get details, they are unavailable for 1 or 2 minutes. It often won't even show that the warning has been made within the app for that time span, let alone allowing you to read the notification. This is a serious issue that NEEDS to be fixed. Horrible UpdateUpdate: I downloaded the update on Aug 27 and waited until Aug 30 to review because I hated it so much I wanted to give it a few days to get used to it. It is now Sept 18 and I have changed my Aug 30 two star rating down to a one star. I I have used the new app for 3 weeks and despise it even more than when I first got it. I’m using iPhone X and I have no problems with it crashing or showing videos. I just absolutely hate the layout. I’ve used it enough now to learn how to get to all the things I need and it is not a user friendly process. I have read TWC’s responses about extensive testing and that it “will become second nature.” I’m sorry TWC but it is time for you to admit you failed on this one and listen to your consumers. Your extensive testing obviously did not translate to real world experience. It happens sometimes in business. Just give everyone what they want back or at least a version closer to it. Previous: I have used this app faithfully since its inception. It was my go to weather app. The new layout has some neat features but the old version was much more user friendly. Not like it used to be!I really hate this app, I curse it every time I try to use it. I don’t have much patience left for it so I’m back to using the Apple app for Weather. I should have given it one star but sometimes you can get some information but it’s most likely inaccurate anyways. The actual temperature compared to the hourly and then comparing to the daily never is the same they give all different degrees of temperature, and where one says sunny it will be raining, stuff like that. It’s never accurate. I remember when there were tornado warnings out and were storms but my app said it was sunny. I thought that must be some kind of a joke. The biggest problem is this app never works. I wait a long time for it to load then when it loads I try to press on the hourly it crashes. After I get it loaded up again I try to press on the daily and then it crashes. And many times when I’m trying to look at the weather and I’m in the app, it will start scrolling through many pages as if it has a mind of it’s own. I have tried deleting the app several times and reinstalling it but it doesn’t change. I have to agree there aren’t too many apps out there that are much better which leads me to wonder why is it so hard to tell the weather. Worst update everI used this app all the time in order to keep up to date on monsoons that are in my area and for my work I have to know if there is a flash flood warning for MY AREA. Since the update they released the app has been super laggy and I have been spammed with flood, flash flood, thunderstorm, air quality, and dust warnings. Almost none of which are actually for where I live. Some are but it’s hard to tell which ones because I have to open each warning in order to tell if it’s for my town or for a storm that won’t effect my town in any way. When you do open the notifications to read them, sometimes it doesn’t open the one you clicked on and when it does open the one you want you have to click and then wait like 10 secs for it to actually pull up. On top of that if you have ocd about having the red notification bubbles on your Home Screen run away from this app. You have to open the app, go to account, open notifications and wait for the app to realize that you have opened the notification section. Then and only then will those red notification bubbles go away it is so annoying, they used to clear if you just simply opened the app. I liked this app before the update, it was intuitive and gave relatively accurate info (I mean it’s meteorology, it’s not always the easiest thing). Not safe.This app has been straight up terrorizing me for the last few years. if you have storm anxiety, this app is NOT for you. this app sends so many alerts about sever weather in such a short amount of time (not always accurate either which is also very dangerous), however the alerts are quite possibly the worst and most nauseating alerts known to the human race if you have storm anxiety. not only are the weather updates locked behind ads (even in sever weather, tornado warnings, etc), they come in big exclamations, varying from yellow to red and in 1-3 exclamations at a time. they never REALLY indicate what the exclamations are to be measured as, i just assume it’s bad, badder and worst. trying to bypass the ads to make sure you have correct updates to take the precautions and doing something like double tapping home screen to exit it out fully - don’t. especially not in a storm. the ads are so prioritized that you run the risk of LOSING. ACCESS. TO. YOUR. PHONE. on multiple occasions and most recently, (my reason for posting this), i have tried to close the app down fully to refresh my weather status and it glitches my phone so bad it won’t respond. i have space, i have wifi, no other app does this. my whole phone went black after slowing down extremely bad when i tried to refresh it as there was a tornado warning. it wouldn’t respond. it was frozen initially on the radar. i spent 12 minutes without access to my phone during a really bad storm. the devs on this app don’t reply to comments for a reason. save yourself if you have storm anxiety- do not use this app.._kayshagoforthVersion: 12.38

To build on a previous review, this app has now stepped beyond what is legal and allowing phishing attacks masked as ads that request access to specific UI features and claim your iPhone is hacked. CS will likely reply below with some defense. End of the day, cross-tracking is integrated deeply into iPhone app functionality. Think of the worst-case and all sensitive details that third party may gain access to by mere integration into the app (whether you close the pop-up or force-close the app). I force-close the app, obv, and recommend everybody do the same. Who thinks twice about it? Not me. You’re gone. I highly recommend everybody delete this app immediately from their phones, as well. Esp now given the unknown and uncertainty. I’ve had this app for fifteen years, maybe more. I don’t care for ads when I only need a second or two to check out Radar. However, I am not playing this game of monopoly where the players are three monkeys who make money without vetting their vendors. Horrible updateUpdate: we are now months down the road and i still have never heard anything from the help/contact us people. Still cant get into my account. I 100% do NOT recommend this ap, if i could give it 0 stars I would. Since the update, everything is off. Says its raining, when its sunny and not a cloud in the sky, temperatures are significantly off. The ap is completely user unfriendly, it used to be very easy to switch between functions on the radar and page, now you must click thru options to get to where you want to go! I used to love this ap, it has now lost my 5 star rating. My biggest issue is that i paid for the premium version in November of last year. When they updated it, they booted me out of my account and i cannot get back into it. I tried using their help/contact us and got an email back saying they most likely wont respond as they dont normally respond. I waited about a week and a half to post this, i have not heard from them. I left an earlier review stating my issue and i cant even find it. I will be deleting this ap. I have been a premium subscriber for years. I do not like the new look, it no longer is “at a glance” information. You have to scroll thru to find what you are looking for like the “how it feels” temperature! I cannot just simply tap to get my extended forecast or things like cloud cover (as i love to Auroara chase), instead you have to click a menu and scroll thru til you find the option you want….they have screwed the radar up. Not what it used to beThis app has been my go-to weather app for around 15 years. The Weather Channel app would be my only choice for checking weather, and I would delete the standard iPhone weather app because I liked how this one provided much more information and detail. However, someone recently decided they needed to make money off of this app, and this has changed everything. When you open the app, you have about 20 seconds to find what information you’re looking for before an annoying ad pops up and takes over your entire screen and sound for a ridiculous amount of time. It doesn’t even matter if your phone is on silent, the sound of the ad will play. Not only will you be forced to wait until the useless, irrelevant ad is finished playing before you see an exit button in the corner, but when you press it, it doesn’t just let you enjoy the app and continue on with what you actually opened the app for. The pops ups are out of control on the hourly view and they move and load at different times, so the likeliness of you accidentally tapping one is high. This causes safari to open a new window. You have to deal with all of this when you’re just trying to see what the weather’s like. Now, you have to ~purchase~ the app to get the luxury of no ads and the 15-minute forecast. Over my dead body am I purchasing something that’s been free for this long when there are so many other weather sources available to phone users. So now something as simple as checking the weather on The Weather Channel’s app has been destroyed solely because of corporate greed. Ads ruined itI always preferred this app over the pre-downloaded weather app on my phone, as long as I’ve had a smart phone (a decent number of years). After years of being pleased with this app I am no longer happy with it and will be deleting it from my phone. Ads are the reason. Look, I understand that ads are important and help pay for the “free” version of the app, and I totally understood and was okay dealing with a still ad coming up every once in a while whilst navigating the app, annoying as it may have been it was still livable. But now all of a sudden in place of those still ads are full blown 30 second commercials I have to sit and wait to end before I can get to what I was trying to get to that would normally take 2 seconds for me to look up and see. I understand full blown video ads in a gaming app, or an app that you would use longer than one minute, but I’m literally looking at the weather for not enough time to constitute sitting through an entire gaming ad that I find annoying enough in a gaming app, let alone a weather app. The amount of time I spend in the app isn’t worth sitting through a full ad for, and all those ads do is make me want to chuck my phone across the room and I can’t afford that, and I am in no way interested in clicking on it. It’s no longer worth my time, and certainly not worth paying premium for (which is ridiculous, by the way, limiting what videos we can watch because we’re not paying for it when I can see the same videos elsewhere for no price, amongst other things). Absolutely horribleHow in the world is this the #1 weather app on the market right now? I WISH it was inaccurate, because that would be way better than what it actually is. I could literally be standing outside in the sunshine, not a cloud in the sky and this app tells me that it’s pouring. I could be laid out on the ground because I have sweated every drop of moisture out of my body and it tells me it’s a cool 70 degrees outside. On top of that, it changes what seems to be every 2 minutes. And not little “a degree or two here or there” change, I’m talking MAJOR changes. What’s that? I go up to my apartment and go to bed. 10 hours later I wake up to find that the weather app says "rain stopping in 1 hour." Create an account for a “free” weather app?!!Weather Channel, my go to app for so many years- how far you’ve fallen. Open this up today after several uses already for planning a trip today day & suddenly nothing….but a new landing page requiring you to create an account; for a “free app” FULL of ads. The worst part is the PRIVACY POLICY. Read it. Our information is being sold to multiple, multiple 3rd party companies devices are tracked, among other things. This is so egregious & honestly scary. It’s also IMHO a total f-u to all the loyal users over the years. I’ve hung in for a long time because there are features that I like & frequently use. Its just become untenable with the barrage of ads that annoy & already collect info but now TWC has a new pay to play - we sell & collect info in an invasive manner, dangling more customization of services or you’re forced to stop using it. The Weather Channel(TV) was a thing of beauty to all weather geeks & people just interested in daily weather, the first few years. I trust TWC’s weather reports, but can’t trust this app.This is the most horribly designed and highly problematic weather app of all time. Where to begin is the hardest part, I would say the most frustrating thing is that it will crash anytime I slide it to the background and try to pull it up again. I have to shut down the app every single time and reload it for it to work. It also will randomly push an ad through in a very glitchy way and then when you close out the ad the app crashes. It has so many ads with large click margins that navigating the app without clicking on an add as well is near impossible. Which creates a situation that only adds to the frustration of the above issue. I have an up to date phone, the software is fully updated along with the app, and I have high speed wifi connection. The problem isn’t on my end. Maybe they make the ‘free’ app this way to encourage you to upgrade it, but all it has encouraged me to do is delete the app and trust a different source for weather. We All Make Mistakes...With all the negative reviews do you think you may have a problem here? I realize people need jobs and with a well designed app like the Weather Max, there’s not much left to do. That app worked so well it didn’t need to be updated. Nothing needed to be changed. Most people don’t adapt well to change. In fact the only change people like to see is in the ‘actual weather‘ itself, not their app. As humans we always strive to try and make something better and easier but this time it didn’t work out. TerribleThis used to be my favorite weather app. Now, I never use it. Since the latest update the format is so “busy” that it’s not easy to read the highs and lows. There are temperatures for 4 different times of the day. Why in the heck do we need that? Why can’t you just tell me the high and low and the highs and lows for the whole week...then let me push a button to see the predicted weather for every hour? I miss the old format. I have tried to get used to this, but it’s just so visually a mess that my brain can’t and doesn’t want to take the time to find exactly what I want. I keep checking sporadically for changes, but in the mean time I’m using a more user friendly, direct app. Not as good as the weather channel used to be, but a heck of a lot better than the weather channel is now. Zero starsI never write reviews. I had to for this one. I’ve had this app as long as I remember. 2010 maybe??? And I’ve always loved it. Accurate and easy to use. Fantastic really. Rip off - don't downloadI downloaded this app because they claim to have an in app purchase to remove ads for $5.49/year. But the only in app purchase offered in the app is premium for $13.49/year that removes ads and gives you some extended forecast info. I purchased the premium membership but the ads are still showing. I tried restore purchase - the app claims there is nothing to restore. I confirmed through iTunes that I do indeed have the in app purchase in my list of subscriptions, good until Aug 11, 2020. And then, there in the subscription list is also shown the option to simply remove ads for $5.49. IPad look & feel used to be the best, now the worstThis used to be my go-to weather app on my iPad and iPhone, but after the app's "makeover", almost the entire screen on the iPad has been taken over by the radar map, and there is no way to close it or resize it. The forecast breakdown by day, hour, etc is the fixed position narrow panel on the right (think iPhone size) which can't be resized. The "rain block" graphics have also been totally eliminated (from iPad and iPhone). the 'rain block' was one of the app's best features for quickly seeing the intensity of the rain in the next few hours. No windchill and a new layoutThere is no windchill on the phone's main tab at all. We live in Canada and windchill is the only stuff that matters for us. Also new version for the iPad is terrible.
