Five star review for AllstateAfter spending a year with The Hartford through AARP, I can honestly say it was the worst insurance experience I’ve ever had. Every call to the 800 number meant sitting on hold for 30 minutes. Only to reach a different representative each time who never seem to know my case their app was a nightmare while it told me what a great driver I was, and even though showed awards, I supposedly owned they still raise my rate because my wife didn’t show up on the app, even though she was already included twice I was told they would open an IT ticket and call me back that call never came. Switching to Allstate Insurance has been a complete opposite experience from the very first phone call. I was impressed when I called the office. I actually get a real person who is helpful and professional. If the representative is not available she’s always calls me back prompt a special thank you to THUY who personally walked us through every step she set up the app for us made sure we had all the coverage we needed and answered every question with patience and professionalism she turned what had been a frustrating process with my previous insurance into a smooth and stress-free experience the service has been outstanding. The communication clear and the rates are fair better than what I was paying before. I couldn’t be happier with Allstate. They’ve restored my faith in what Customer service should look like Allstate has my vote hands-down shame on AARP for recommending Hartford. Hurricane damageWe live just south of Augusta and the wind blew over a 30”water oak that fell from the roots coming out of the ground. Luckily a 20” water oak only inches behind our fence kept the tree from falling but caused large branches to fall through our above ground pool and wooden deck,but if the smaller tree had not been there to support the larger tree from falling, my family would have been dead. Dad,mom and 19 year old daughter we all got in our master bedroom and the next morning realized the 30” oak tree would have fallen directly on top of our roof and the tree would have landed on top of the bed we were in. No doubt a miracle. We heard the branches snapping and immediately moved to the front of the house were no trees were an imminent threat. I called Allstate the next day after realizing the larger tree was going to over pressurize the smaller tree that it was leaning against and destroy the bedroom. The next morning Allstate sent a contractor with crane and bucket truck and dump truck removed the two trees and eliminated the real and present danger. A one day response I considered a miracle also with so many other houses that were not as lucky as us. They came out took pictures and we had a final claim completed in less than a month. I wish the other contractors could work that fast but understand the demand for repairs covered numerous states and not many homes were as lucky as ours. I have been an Allstate customer for over approximately 30 years and have never had a problem with filing a claim or having the price go up due to a claim being filed. DrivewiseI have been having problems with my Drivewise. I have called the center followed all their steps, have viewed the video, done everything, downloaded the app again, is very upsetting is refreshed the app, turned off my phone and still no trips have been logged. I called after my January 19th, trip, after waiting 4 days to see if it showed up, since then I took a trip on January 24th which I had notified the person I spoke to (Joy) and took another trip on January 28th, and planning another trip today January 30th, and nothing has been logged. I will be checking on this and call back on January 31st exactly one week after I spoke with Joy she said if nothing was logged to call in one week. I HAVE BEEN TAKING TRIPS and it is very upsetting knowing I am not getting credit for my trips!!!! Please try to resolve this matter.. Thank you. I took a trip today and was surprised it was recorded, but I’m still missing my January 19th, January 28th, and only half of my trip January 30th it recorded my trip there but not the trip back home, so I guess that means I’m still where I was.!!! Best insurance!I have used Allstate for about roughly about a year! It’s expensive no doubt! I pay $290 monthly. However, about six months ago I went on a trip to California for family reunion, then bam! I was driving on the highway 710 north coming from Long Beach. I am driving behind a truck that had various gardening items, most likely landscapers. As a wheel barrel fell off and I had seriously at most 1 second to try and avoid the hit, but, we all know that’s impossible. Luckily there was no damage to the car, or at least I thought because no damage was visible. But I pulled over to inspect my car and saw the wheel barrel on the side crunched up. Then I thought ok my car is fine. As I’m driving home my car is having problems so I get home hearing rattling noises. In the morning when I woke up I found a puddle of what looked like water. It was transmission fluid. Eventually, had to get my car towed and taken in to the shop. Pep-Boys. They said half of my transmission was missing and that the damage was serious. I’ll need a new transmission and that it’ll be very costly. Luckily, thank God I had full cover as is required by my car dealer. And eventually called and got some help from Allstate very quick. The problems were not with Allstate but rather pep boys in which I am very disappointed in but that’s a different story. On behalf of Allstate they had an inspector go see my car and evaluate the cost to fix my car and signed a check quick. Of course I had to use the insurance as it covered road hazard items. This was done on a period of 24-48 hours at most. Thank you Allstate! You guys seriously took care of me! - warning my insurance did go up as a co-effect for having a claim but my representative did some work on his end to keep it at the same price! Drivewise not so good.The app itself is fine, Drivewise makes no sense sometimes. I think people need in this part of the app the option to feedback or dispute a trip. I always check how the app recorded my trips, and there’s been a few times in some roads where the app recorded my trip as if I was speeding, when I get to drive again on that same road I make sure to check the speed limit and realize I was not speeding. Maybe the app doesn’t have an updated map with the proper speed limit on some roads, making the driver look like s bad driver when the app is what’s wrong. Please add something where we can provide feedback or dispute a trip. I know I could just change the trip add if I was the passenger but I prefer the right way. Also, how does driving at night make people bad drivers? As well as hard braking, constant hard braking means bad habit/bad driver/distracted driver, Rarely hard braking could mean the driver is aware and alert at all times, imagine a good driver paying attention to the road and surroundings braking hard when somebody cuts them off in front, or just hard breaking avoiding an accident because of somebody else’s fault..Version: 20.4

Battery killer, unfair reporting of “phone activity “I’ve been using this for a couple months. I do not text and drive period. However I do use navigation on my phone for work. This app is ridiculous; it’s too over simplified. If I’m getting text notifications while I’m driving and I click the side button on my iPhone to silent that counts as phone activity, just the same as if I was driving down the road texting. Also it’s an extreme battery user which makes no sense because the screen isn’t on because you’re technically not supposed to be texting or looking at your phone so it makes no sense. It’s such a weak copout that the app developer will reply to people and say that you need to have your phone plugged in. Not sure the hassle is worth it for the modest discount. Also you have to login every single time you want to look at the app and it’s reporting. Update: I was contacted by the developer and told to update my iOS to the latest version. Not sure if that was in response to the battery usage because it sure doesn’t do anything about the design issues. Update: The app definitely identifies phone activity occasionally on trips where I know with absolute certainty that I did not physically touch my phone at all. Both vehicles I drive have hands-free Bluetooth connections. I got one modest discount in the beginning for using it and that was the end of it. I’m guessing the information they get to collect on my phone activity is far more valuable to Allstate than the discount I’m getting. And another thing: their rules for phone activity aren’t compliant with Florida law for texting while driving. Florida makes an exception for using the phone for navigation, but without a doubt this app will not make an exception for that with regards to penalizing you for phone activity..Version: 16.4.1

My AllstateI love the whole Allstate rewards. I love playing the games for extra points. I check my points all the time. For me I have always said that good drivers never get rewarded so you pay your car insurance every month but you never use it ‘cause you never get into an accident and your a good driver well people should be rewarded for that like I dish out money to keep and make sure I’m covered in my car and so is my passengers but if you use it if you don’t use it and you are driving every day and you pay your monthly bill you should be rewarded somehow and I think it’s great that you might get a check in the mail for a little reward or did you get points you know for whatever you may use them for but my husband and I are both safe drivers we’ve not been in accident we don’t get tickets we drive very carefully nice to know that somebody out there is actually going to reward us for doing that so thank you and may everybody drive safe and if everybody drove like that there be less accidents.Version: 16.5

You’re in good hands with Allstate until you file a claimI’ve been with Allstate since 1975 when we moved to New Jersey. My homeowner and vehicles coverage are both with Allstate Insurance Company. On December 18, 2023,the south side of my basement wall caved in. My basement was covered with mud and water. The HVAC unit and the hot water heater were damaged. The house was condemned by Washington Township building inspector. We were ordered to vacate the house for safety reasons. We stayed at the local Hampton Inn for 3 months while the house was being renovated. Finally, on March 8, 2024, we were given the certificate of occupancy. The sad part was that Allstate denied our insurance claim. The reason given by the Insurance adjuster, Mr. Joe Nicolo was hyper static water pressure. My insurance agent, Mr. Vic Simonin said that anything involving ground movement due to water pressure is not covered by the homeowner’s insurance policy. I wish and still praying for the approval of my insurance claim. The Insurance Commissioner of New Jersey did not help us. Any advice will be appreciated. Please help us in any way. Your in Allstate handsOne thing I can say is that this insurance company has like literally change my outlook on insurance. They show you what great service and support to look like even for the smallest amount of money and they show you that they truly do care about people being safe on the road. I’m just in love with this company and for the price that I got my insurance for I will not disclose that but let me tell you just wow and I work really hard to make sure that I keep this insurance becausethey are excellent and they cover a lot more than what I can stay for any other insurance company that I have been with and that includes liberty mutual..: and progressive like the prices and what you get for the Allstate service is way better way better coverage for a amazing price. App is horrible!!Not due to just an isolated incident, but many. For starters, it is slow taking payments and last resort, i have had to keep my card unlocked while the app decides at what point to register the payment. Problem 2: The app chooses which credit cards to accept or decline. I received an updated card, due to card expiring, and the app refused to accept it. I ended up with a 3 day headache and driving to Allstate twice to make a payment in person, with nothing wrong with the card. Problem 3: I signed up for paperless on app, and still have received last 2 month bills in my mailbox. Problem 4: So far since updating my bank card ( since app wont accept my good credit card ), it has yet to show a place to put card on autopay. Very frustrating, and Im almost ready to change insurance companies as even their “higher up” staff, those paid to handle computer/app issues, seemed clueless and didnt resolve the card issue. I had to begin using a card I am not comfortable using. I am still not comfortable using my bank card..Version: 18.3

Lots of potential, could use some improvementI downloaded this app so that I could participate in the Allstate drive wise program. And the app enables you to view your insurance ID cards, request roadside assistance and several other things. But the main reason I have this app is for trying to reduce my insurance premium based on my safe driving. I’ve been participating in this app for just 3 days now and I’ve already had to dispute/remove 2 different “extreme braking events”. When I view the GPS route of the trip to review the “extreme braking event” I’ve noticed that the route has me zigzagging off the road randomly. So of course that’s going to trigger an extreme braking event! I don’t know if the GPS data tracking is an issue with the app or with the iPhone XS GPS. But either way, the app should have a feature that recognizes anomalies in the GPS data and push a notification or pop up that asks you “is this trip summary accurate?” Instead of just accusing you of being an erratic driver and reducing your chance for a discount. So for now, you have to review all of your trip summaries and dispute/remove the trips with inaccurate GPS data. Sort of annoying..Version: 14.0

Was Fine…Now is Pretty PoorUp until one of the more recent updates in the past few weeks, this app had been working fine for me for years. Now it’s pretty awful. Another user reviewed the app on 9/2 and said the same thing I’m about to say, which confirms that the issues aren’t just isolated to me. I have most up to date app AND iOS version, so don’t bother asking that question. DriveWise is pretty much unmanageable now. I just got finished trying 5 different times to either note I was a passenger or to remove a trip, and the trips just keep coming back or saying I was the driver. This is particularly bad because I may use my phone as passenger, or the driver I’m with may suddenly brake. That’s not my fault and I shouldn’t be hit for it. But with this atrocious new app version, Allstate is trying to stick me with the bill for actions I didn’t take. Very unhappy since last update…and if you’re gonna try to defraud me and say I did something I didn’t do, then I’ll gladly look for another insurer..Version: 16.7.1

Fix phone use while driving featureBefore the phone use while driving feature came out for Drivewise, I would have given the app 5 stars. However, when I stop my car at my destination and use my phone, it is tracking that as using my phone while driving. For example, I have been giving a coworker rides to work everyday for the last 2 weeks. When I would pull up and park in her carport, I would send her a text saying I was there. When checking the Drivewise section in the app later, it showed I used my phone while driving (although the phone use was tracked at my parking location). Because of this, I have had to remove many trips due to “trip data not being accurate,” which is losing me safe driving points. I do not use my phone while driving, so it is frustrating that this new feature is saying that I use my phone during my trips. Now I’m not even sure how long I have to wait before stopping before I can touch my phone without having to remove the whole trip data due to this error. Please fix. An App with some great concepts but seems to always be having troubleMy Wife and I have been Allstate Customers for over 20 years and I was with Allstate for many many years prior to then. Overall Allstate has been a good Company in Our opinion ( and We frequently compare cost, value etc in The Auto Insurance arena) but I just do NOT understand 3 issues : 1. Why does the app seem to “fuss” about the phone being used while the vehicle is in motion ( My Wife uses the phone while I am doing the driving) and 2. Why is the log-in process is inconsistent? Sometimes it logs in fine and other times it seems to take serious efftort to get the app to login and function properly. I might understand it better if We were using a “cheap” cell phone, but I don’t feel this is appropriate behavior on an Apple phone less than a year old!! And 3. It Really seems quite unnecessary and actually INTRUSIVE that The Allstate App insists that The “Location “ setting be on and active at ALL times! I could understand the need for the location to be sent to Allstate if there is an accident or if The customer requests that Their location be sent to Allstate, but to require that a person’s precise location be constantly transmitted to Allstate really is privacy-invasive and Answers to the above questions would be so very much appreciated. Trip SummaryI like the app. Occasionally GPS is off a little. But the thing I really dislike is when I’m driving and get pinged for phone usage. When I’m not the one using the cell phone. My son is using it to play games on, text or call someone, playing music. Or when the car is on in a parking space and you leave the heat on ( winter) ). To keep passengers warm while you run into Walmart etc. vibration still causes the cell to show up on drive wise. Even if you hit The I’m not driving on cell. I think the app developers should add another category under trip advisor . One called I’m driving but my child was playing/using my cell. Like we went snow tubing at ski resort, almost a two hour trip. And phone activity showed up for the trip to n back. I’m certain I’m not the only person who gets pinged for phone activity due to their child for the majority of trips. Cause sometimes you or I use hands free to call Dr if running late. Or to answer a text or call from family or elementary school ( emergency/sick child ) As they are the only calls programmed to go thru while driving, quiet time, bed time. Those you should be pinged for. But the majority is from my child using the cell. Much better to have him playing on cell than being restless n moving around . Cause he’s having a bad with ADHD . Cause moving around is more dangerous than him playing on cell or even hearing are we there yet!.Version: 20.7

Service unavailable almost every dayI started using this app last week. Since then I’m always getting service unavailable whenever I try to login to check my driving feedbacks. The first it happened I called the app support and she said I need to delete the app and reinstall it. This is because I mentioned that I was able to login on my desktop but not using my iPhone. So she solved my problem. However when I checked the trips they were gone, meaning I had lost the points for good driving. Today for the 3rd time it happened again. I just did the same delete and reinstall process without calling support. And of course the trips are all gone and I’m missing the reward points again. I think this a bug that needs to be fixed right away. Otherwise it’s pointless to have the app running in the background (and draining the phone’s battery without getting any reward points..Version: 13.0

Back with Don Rose at AllstateIt’s good to be back, Don had always helped me when I was with him a few years ago but I left for cheaper insurance and I got not so good customer service especially with claims! Both companies all they cared about was saving money at my expense but with Don Rose I got excellent claims service and he involved himself every time,he would walk me through the claims service to make sure it was handled properly! And always what was best for me! And this App is great I can do everything from it and not bother my agent and the office staff unless I have a question I need answered! Now that I’m back I’m not going anywhere! Allstate set me up with the best coverage I needed for a great price! Switch to Allstate and choose the gold package you will love it! Love Allstate, but Drivewise is hopeless.I was super happy with my switch to Allstate from Farmers Insurance, but then I made the mistake of activating Drivewise. WARNING… Drivewise makes stuff up! I’m a slow driving senior that people hate because I drive the speed limit. Most of the time I’m on cruise control set at 65 or 70. But not according to Drivewise, it says I go over 80! It has lost it’s mind! Same with hard braking. I drive in-between rush hour traffic, and mostly on the side roads with no one else on them. My speed is about 30 on these roads, and I only have calm breaking as I approach stop signs. But once again, that’s not what Drivewise says. It just makes stuff up! So incredibly frustrating, and there is no way to dispute the absolute made up nonsense that it claims. Drivewise was a great idea, but they should have tested it and fixed it because it’s useless if all it does is make up lies about how people drive..Version: 18.3

Inaccurate and annoyingI downloaded the Allstate app for the discounts for good driving. I’m getting a decent discount but it’s such an annoying app. It will peg you and reduce your discount each time you go over 80 mph, you brake too hard, or now when you are on your phone while driving. The problem with this is that it will peg you for these things regardless of what the speed limit is and the brake and phone checks are very buggy. I get pegged for braking too hard sometimes and there was no hard braking whatsoever. Maybe my phone accelerometer is too sensitive... it also counts you as driving every time you are in a moving vehicle unless you remember to get into the app and tell it you’re not driving. Then every time you stop and start moving again you’ll have to tell it AGAIN. It also has been tattling on me for using my phone after I’ve parked the car at work before I start walking in... I don’t know how looking at your phone in park in a parking lot could possibly count as using the phone while driving... I’m not sure what the fix here is, but perhaps the number of times, the speed limit, and the distance something happens for should be more important. If I’m doing 80 in a 40, there’s a problem but if I’m going 80 in a 75, then that’s not nearly as bad... The worst part in my opinion is that I have to tell it when I’m not driving or delete the trips later. Im so tired of monitoring this app just to make sure it’s doing its job. I’m not sure it’s even worth the discount I’m getting. In fact I’m pretty sure it’s not worth it....Version: 14.0
