National Geographic App Comments & Reviews

National Geographic Positive Reviews

National Geographic ReviewNational Geographic is the best. It has amazing photography and lots of scientific proven information that’s explained for the average person. It also shows biases, and theories and explains them along with information that don’t support the claim. It has a wide variety of topics to explore with lots of detail and multiple people who work hard behind the scenes to give the best information. The only negative part about it is that they can over exaggerate animal fights and predators leaving people with knowledge that makes people these amazing animals as dangerous, violent and vicious. Although they do inform people about their behavior and adaptations that help them compete in this ever changing world it gives them a bad reputation. Which leads people to want to harm them instead of protecting them from their already dwindling numbers ( such as sharks). National Geographic provides awesome information with lots of facts and details and gives both biases on topics. But some of the biases content can be perceived wrong..Version: 7.56

Some improvements but still slowUpdating to 3 stars. Finally I was able to reach someone that suggested deleting the app. But that didn’t work. Then it seemed they perhaps had some issues on the back end of the system (nothing to do with my app). Now downloads seem to work as well as reading offline. Not giving higher than 3 starts because the app is still very slow. —————— Zero Stars!!! It’s been years since my first review of this app and it’s still broken. Nothing gets fixed. They say the Downloading is now enabled, but it’s clearly broken. It fails when trying to download, then the item gets stuck in the Library and your can’t remove it even though it isn’t bookmarked as a saved item. The only way to purge it is to delete the app and start all over. One brief time I was able to download an article, then while traveling and not on WiFi, the article wasn’t available. So why is there a download option if you can’t read it offline? Maybe I’m missing the purpose of the download option. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app per NatGeo’s support team recommendation, only to loose all my bookmarked items. Then the problem persisted. They or their developer clearly have no clue as to what is wrong with this app, nor do they care about fixing it. If they did, these issues would not be languishing for the past several years. The original apps was great — could download issues, read offline — then this new app came along and all went sideways if not backwards..Version: 7.1.0

My exposure to nature’s mysteries, other peoples, and exploration of current issuesSo good. The photos, of course, are amazing, and the writers bring you right in to what they experience with verbal elegance, do pleasing to see and “hear”. The pictures and stories take me all over the world and up close. NatGeo has me running a race in the wintry cold with top runners in the Himalayas, journeying along an important river in India and seeing its critical water issues, and feeling excited at the amazing cutting-edge agricultural techniques in the Netherlands that give hope to the capacity to feed millions with so little land. My experience and awareness is expanded through the app and the monthly issue, which I think is worth the $2.99/month to subscribe..Version: 7.0.2

I feel like a Kidd againI’m so excited to actually be able to read articles about science and what’s being studied around the world and practically in my back yard. Oh how I’ve missed it since no one has the magazine’s lying around anymore so I’ve wasted my time reading little bits and pieces on one site are the other not to mention all the wasted time on social platforms never getting the science fix that I love. Why I waited so long and wasted so much time when my old favorite magazine was still around and better than ever,I’d give it a rating of 5 out of 5 👍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 7.9.0

National Geographic articlesI have been reading this magazines articles and pictorials since I was a child and subscribed to it when I could afford to or read it in waiting rooms and libraries. The articles are always first rate and fascinating. National Geographic is unique and covers a wide variety of subjects in the sciences from oceanography to photography to biology to archeology to ancient history to paleontology to sociology to anthropology to medicine, etc. No other magazine manages to feature wonderful articles on so many different topics. I am a “baby boomer” (in my 70s) and have been reading Nat/Geo for over 60 years..Version: 7.13.0

Unique magazineI have been reading NG my entire life and am 79. Was in school libraries as we did not subscribe growingbup. Married in 68 and subscribed ever since. Always kept issues as too dear to throw out. Finally after 35 years donated to a local library and hard to find one that accepted. Sad as new generations need to hold your yellow magazine in their hands- too much digital. Important objects are needed to hold and cherish. Great that all issuesare on line now for all. Start a rereading program where subscribers can contribute to libraries for new minds to read ! Mike Brick.Version: 7.41

Nat Geo appI love National Geographic magazine and have always read it when my grandfather bought it for my sister and I. My only criticism is that if you have a subscription with Disney plus and the Disney Plus Bundle that it be included with your subscription so that you can read any issue without having to pay for another subscription. always love the writing style that the magazine covers and very informative, plan on using this educational resource for my social studies classes in the future..Version: 7.59

Great contentThe app however is hit and miss, sometimes it takes 20 seconds to start up. And it’s the only app on my phone to crash that I can tell. My phone was recently restored to iOS 14.5.1 with latest cloud backup and the IOS as an ipsw file. And still buggy. Please fix the speed and reliability. Thank you. Update. Changed to 4 stars. I will update to 5 if it stays. A developer of the app reached out and I’ve tested it a few times. Seems good. NG is awesome. I also have the tv program as well. 😊 Back to 3 stars. App takes a while to load. And if you switch back to it, it will crash, even though it was “open”..Version: 7.2.0

I love this app! So much information!I am a middle school student and I LOVE reading so much and when I got the app I was thrilled! With their unbiased information and inclusion of any community, it be LGBTQ+, People of colour, or any group history continues to neglect and not record, it is a great place for someone who loves to learn. I can confirm that any age, young or old will live this app and spend many waking hours on it reading and going down rabbit holes.😬 I have so much respect for the writers on NatGeo and love what they do. 📚GET THE APP📚.Version: 7.39

My experienceI have always loved group looking at National Geographic the pictures and stories of everything and everyone around the world right at you fingertips. Now we have the same thing in digital which to me with any decent computer the pictures jump right out at you face . We also have another great feature especially for someone of a little age you can make the font size bigger. Hey that’s huge. Keep up the great work National Geographic.Version: 7.0.2

Love this app!I absolutely love the National Geographic app and all the features it entails , including the ability the download articles for offline viewing ! National Geographic is like the (sugar free) candy to my curiosity sweet tooth. Sugar free because the information is vetted, studied and reliable and therefore not bad for me to consume ! The only downside the payment of course , but understand such renowned scientist should be compensated for their work always. Happy reading everyone !.Version: 7.54

So fed up with this app!I’ve been subscribed to National Geographic for over fifty years. Love the magazine. Love the app too when it decides to recognize me!!! I don’t know what the change was but now it has decided I’m not a subscriber, apparently since I didn’t subscribe through Apple. What use is the app to me when it will not let me read any of the premium articles that I should have access to through my subscription. I’m not only ready to dump the app but to not renew my mail subscription. I only take it now for my grandchildren..Version: 7.54

Always Something That Delights and AmazesI’ve been reading and enjoying National Geographic since childhood. It has opened up the world to me, the unfolding history of our species, the magic and wonder of the planet’s flora and fauna, new discoveries about space, and our struggle to live sensibly and kindly (we aren’t doing that so well). This app means I alway have something to read, ponder, and enjoy at my fingertips. Thank you!.Version: 7.4.0

Print view needs improvementHi, the latest updates have solved many of the bugs with the app and greatly improved the ability to view a “print version” (i.e., a replica of the printed magazine), but one feature I would love to see is the option to have landscape mode show both pages as they would appear if one had a paper version of the magazine open. This would greatly improve the app, as there are many photographs that span both pages of an open magazine. Thanks so much..Version: 7.2.0

Favorite reading; personal, family, teachingI love my National Geographic membership. Every day there are fascinating new things to learn. I have used articles in my classroom and shared them with my own children. I love learning more about our amazing Earth and the people in it. The photos, the articles, and the videos have enriched my mind and even at times brought me to tears with their beauty..Version: 7.40

A better experienceThe app has improved since my previous subscription more than a year ago. Clearly devs have listened the people, although there are some issues when the app freezes. Nothing to hate, though. The download option to read offline really rocks.Version: 7.9.0

Laudatory remarks.I have long been a member of National Geographic. I started back in the 60’s and though I often had to move, (I was a Professional Soldier and I served in the Army for 23 years) I always kept my subscription. It is one of the most informative publications and is extremely useful for my grandchildren who often research their school work..Version: 7.41.2

Nat Geo phone appKudos on the National Geographic phone app. Cannot tell you how much I love reviewing it and reading articles. Each morning my coffee is accompanied by a review of the new listings. Photos print everything comes through so well and as usual, the photos and the articles maintain that degree of excellent the magazine has always been known for..Version: 7.41

Get rid of article pop up at bottom of articleI click on a notification and as soon as the article opens there is a pop up with an arrow to go to a different article. There doesn’t seem to be a way to “silence” or clear it without clicking it, going to that article, and figuring out how to find the original article, since back rarely takes me near it. Please allow an “x” or swipe to clear it..Version: 7.66

Bottom link is very annoyingA link to another story is always at the bottom of the screen. I have accidentally hit it several times. I have to go back find the article again and scroll to where I left off. When looking at pictures, it covers the description. This is extremely annoying. I will choose what I want to read next. If not fixed I will not renew..Version: 7.13.0

NatGeo ReviewI have been a subscriber to National Geographic magazine since 1956, and I have participated in more than a half a dozen Nat Geo expeditions. Obviously, this is a venue that I have thrived on for many years and whether it be in the form of an Internet message, or a magazine or a participating in one of the expeditions I have continued to learn from National Geographic. Thank you for continuing this tradition..Version: 7.60

Growing up with National GeographicI grew up loving NatGeo and gifted our very young son a subscription. He grew up passionate about photography interning for The Hill while in college in DC. He now works at National Geographic and living his dream job. Some iconic publications I grew up with like Life Magazine are long gone but NatGeo continues to evolve and thrive, educating and fascinating the young and old around the world. How cool is that?.Version: 7.40

Nat Geo saved my life!!I subscribed during the pandemic. It was much needed to inject some foreign lands into my daily life. I miss traveling and living abroad. Nat Geo has been a lifesaver!!! Not to mention the articles I learn from everyday. My son then gets on and we share time together talking about world events outside of politics. I wish more would do the same!.Version: 7.9.0

Exceptional ResponsivenessI previously found the lack of a translation feature troubling, as it hindered my full engagement. Remarkably, within a day of sending my feedback email, you implemented this much-needed improvement. I am delighted with your responsiveness and thank you for making the Nat Geo App more accessible to readers worldwide..Version: 7.66

New subscriber reportI kept getting teaser emails from Nat Geo with interesting articles that got me to open them and read so far then…if u like this subscribe. When the trial subscription came up I did and I am pleased. The pictures are wonderful and the variety of stories keeps me reading. Thanks..Version: 7.44.0

Font is not adjustableThe app itself is good with amazing contents, love it. However the font in contents is not quite easy for me to read so am going to change the font, seems there is nothing i can change or customize like text size and font type etc… look forward to have those enabled in the future..Version: 7.38.2

Amazing appThis app is amazing I love to wake up and read it but the one downfall is that you can only read one article a day or something like that and to read all articles in one day you have to pay which will be amazing to if they change that but otherwise amazing app..Version: 7.3.0

THANK YOU jose martinezI’ve been reading National Geographic books for a long time thanks to the app I can read a moments notice at work hour s in between thank you so much I’ve around the world without affording to go but I’m familiar with everything thanks to your books and the app.Version: 7.1.0

National Geographic and iPadThe past 30 years of my life, including the last nine in so-called retirement, slowing down does not seem to be part of my DNA. Ending the day learning something about the geography of our planet, the lifestyle of others and being able to see how various other species live, causes me to reconnect with life..Version: 7.0.2

Love it but…I now read everything on my iPad. Not only is it going to save trees but it will also save reading glasses. I can make the page larger on my iPad, but in this app I can not figure out away to make the words larger. Outward pinching doesn't make the page grow larger either. It’s a silly thing but still a regrettable head ache..Version: 7.5.0

Personalization missingThe app is great and so is the content. Would love it if there could be an option to create categories in the library. I want my climate change articles in one folder where as archeological in the other..Version: 7.62

Nat Geo is “THE BEST”!I have been reading the National Geographic since I was a young guy, I’m not so young anymore and I totally enjoy this app and all the cool information that they have on it. I signed up for the yearly membership because I figured that was some very inexpensive entertainment and very very good information..Version: 7.13.0

Excellent reading experience, wonderful contentI used to buy printed magazines while they were publishing in Ukraine, but now switched to digital. What I love about this app is that you can read the latest issues as well as previous ones published way back in 1888!.Version: 7.47

Fantastic appFilled with unique and fascinating stories. Love the way the app functions.Version: 7.63

Amazing!I use the app on my iPhone 8, and it works perfectly. First of all, the layout makes accessing and reading articles and entire issues of the magazine so easy. The interface is very polished. The quality and amount of content is mind-blowing. I could spend two or three hours immersed in looking through and reading it. The time one could spend on social media, would be put to better use learning with the National Geographic app. Since I don’t use sócia, this is my featured addiction..Version: 7.62

Pete in OttawaJust got the App a hour ago and so far I love it!.Version: 7.59

LanguageI can’t change the lenguage.Version: 7.59

Numerous complaints about font size. No action. If the developers take time to read reviews, they will get to know a vast majority of their readers have said give an option to increase font size. No action until this date..Version: 7.58

No food or medicine can do what Olive Oil do. Here is why.Very interesting and educative article..Version: 7.57

I love this appThis app is fantastic I’ve learn a lot of things with the subscription. I really recommend National Geographic to you. A nerd.Version: 7.41.2

Full of informationIt’s been awhile actually since I used to get the hard copy before digital but am enjoying more now reading all the articles and the ease where one can read over generations the expanding story of any one article..Version: 7.41.2

AMAZINGI love this app! I highly recomend it! You can read thousands of books too..Version: 7.41

Thanks for the invite and for the giftHistory and $cience is My Passion Yea Mee Do LOV3 Your$ A:p:p Adam K. Thank$.Version: 7.29.0

Love itI love history and science.Version: 7.15

Lacks key featuresGood: -All article access (with NG membership) -Optionally store articles locallyl Not good: -Poor article layout. No font settings and articles are wasteful with screen size. Literally half the screen (left and right side margins) is black in landscape mode, about a third is black in portrait mode. What’s the purpose of electronic content if the app then does not scale / make the best out of the available space? At least let me zoom the entire article then, like I can on the NG website. In this point the Webpage is actually better than the app. -Can’t opt our of “sell my data to third parties“ if you’re not a california resident. Just why do you sell data in the first place? This is already a paid membership, Disney how dare you?.Version: 7.19

GreatGreat.Version: 7.13.0

More accessibleAs a subscriber, I appreciate this access on the new App. I also appreciate the search features. It is convenient to log in once. I would also appreciate more videos on the App..Version: 7.2.0

Great articles..But very limited settings and restrictive. I try to cancel weekly emails and it looks like I am already unsubscribed.. but the weekly aren’t even listed. Not the first time I’ve gone looking for something and it’s hard to find or just not there. Open links to email, it doesn’t open the app, it opens a web browser. It says I have 3 more free articles , I only open to see the titles to search on the app.. would be nice to open the app..Version: 7.1.0

WoooowThis app helps me know a lot so I can’t stop learning but one thing I don’t like about this app is that it takes internet connection.Version: 7.1.0
