I go to my ESPN+, but my faves are more than halfway down the page, with all these other sports and shows and films I will NEVER watch. There is nothing in the Settings that actually does anything, other than you pick your faves, and then you can’t even see them unless you scroll down. This is seriously one of the stupidest Apps out there. It doesn’t even show the last thing you watch at the top that has continuing episodes or the next Live game, of your team, at the top!! Why? Really really dumb and bad. So tiresome to have to work to find your team and your faves. All of the ones you don’t pick as a fave should be at the bottom, far away from your own choices. It could be a lot better.I think there’s a lot this app could improve on but as for the good things, functionally this app has no problems and runs smoothly while showing games in good quality, this app also makes sports a lot more accessible especially to those of us who have given up cable TV entirely and opted to only use apps. But when you go to actually watch the specific games or teams you want to watch this app struggles with making games accessible. Even if you pay for ESPN + coverage is extremely limited and for certain games they ask for your cable info which in my mind defeats the purpose of paying for the app. I’d like to see this app give us unlimited sports coverage for those of us who pay to support the app but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I think three stars is generous because paying for the app doesn’t give you anything and everything ESPN has to offer which is disappointing. Need to improve the functionality of the appIm disappointed in this app. Considering your espn with your resources we would all expect much better. Ill give you examples, most people who are watching the game on their phone from the espn app are going to be opening and closing windows and going in and out of cars and all kinds of things. Whenever you go in and out of a car and it disconnects from the bluetooth it’s difficult to hit play and start watching again. The feed becomes choppy and goes in and out for a while and sometimes you have to force quit the app and start over. One of the priorities of the app should be dealing with people playing with their phone and opening and closing things as well as starting and stopping the game and force quitting the app and twisting the phone around for full screen and minimizing screen. When we are doing this with the phone while watching live events on the espn app we are having all kinds of trouble watching the game, starting it back up. You need to improve this a lot of the time the app is unbearable we would rather not even watch. Its got to be more efficient. Unfortunately most live stream apps for sports on the phone are like this but ill give you a reference. The fox sports app is the best i have use, its by far better than all the rest. Adds and glitches/crashes are too muchDon’t get me wrong, I love this app and use it daily, but I’ve also been using this for many many years and can see how it’s changed. The amount of adds are kinda embarrassing to me for a company like this who already makes a ton of money and is owned by Disney. Sure there could be a few adds here and there, but almost for every video clip is absurd. It almost ruins the fun in watching them plus it’s sometimes quicker to close out and reopen the app to watch more. It’s silly. Also, I feel that if you are an ESPN+ subscriber then you shouldn’t have adds at all or a bare minimum. On top of that the app occasionally crashes or doesn’t open properly which can come at anytime. It’s not unusual for apps to do this, but again I have higher expectations for a company such as this. Lastly when watching the video clips, a good portion of the time it won’t allow you to select the video you want on the list. It just doesn’t register your tap, so either you have to watch all the videos and adds to get to the one you want, or close out and reopen the app which I usually do. Awesome and Horrible at the same timeWhat it's like having espn+: I sift through about 15 games from other sports I don't care about right now and finally just find the basketball icon and click it. Then I sift through 10 women's games to find northern kentucky vs Robert Morris. I click it and pick up my very messy sandwich I'm having for breakfast. After I'm 2 bites in with dressing all over the place, I realize i clicked the women's northern kentucky vs Robert Morris game. I set down my messy sandwich after a few minutes of chewing and wiping off my hands I pick the remote back up and find a men's game I care about that is actually going on. I click the East Carolina-ucf game and again look to my messy sandwich which has now has all the ingredients all over the place. I stuff all the ingredients back in as the opening tip is set to happen. Right as I take a bite, I see the spinning wheel of death as the screen freezes and it tries to load the game. After about five seconds, it takes me back to the last screen. When it works, it’s mostly good. It gives access to so many games that we never used to get before. But the organization is pathetic and hasn’t improved since the app started years ago. You can’t set any favorites or load any personal settings. They desperately want you to watch women’s sports, which I consider a good thing and even do when I have time, but they beat me over the head with it so much that it makes me resent that the women’s games are even available. BlahThis used to be my favorite app throughout the year. Because I could check game highlights and even watch the game if I were working and was away from a TV. I used to watch the videos showing different highlights but now if I pick one video about a certain football team the next video will be about some random COMPLETELY off topic vids like nascar or gold. Also the app won’t let you stop the next AD video from playing! So when that AD video stops playing then you find the next on topic video you want to watch then you have to watch another AD video!! Good App, Slightly GlitchyI’ve been using the ESPN App on my IPhone since 2018. It gives you most of the information you can find on the ESPN website, with the exception of certain specific sections of different sports homepages (for example, you cant access the college football conference standings from the college football page). I also don’t like the only the last names of players are shown in boxscores and stat columns. The website shows you their full names. Beyond that, the main complaint I have is that the app is glitchy in spots. For example, say I’m looking at the boxscore of a football game, and say I minimize the app briefly without actually closing it. When I go back to the ESPN app, it will take me to the game recap and force me to click on the boxscore again. I don’t get why thats necessary. If you’re a sports fan who is used to perusing the ESPN website, and if you’re familiar with the firsr names of the athletes, the app is a useful way to do deep dives and read columns without having to use the website through a desktop or laptop. Why the Problem on my iPhone 14 Pro MaxI’ve used this app many times each day for years. I still try to use this app multiple times per day, but since upgrading to my new iPhone, it is a less than pleasant user experience. While reading an article (most often) or even just checking scores the app will just stop and close itself off. When reopening it is back to the Home Screen and after I find what I was reading and find my place, I’ll read some more and it happens again. On long articles it can be a real chore to read to the end. Sometimes I’ll just give up. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled, but it still is flawed. I’m primarily a tennis fan!I paid the fee for this app during one of the Major tournaments and the thing that they don’t allow you to know is that they have no intention of showing matches between well known players. They only show show players who are not well known to the public. When I complained to ESPN, they blamed this on AT&T not allowing a certain ESPN Channel in our area. I didn’t pay my fee for the app to AT&T, I paid it to ESPN. I feel that this is fraudulent for them to not warn a viewer of this information. They need to say, upfront, we are only showing unknown players with this app. I simply don’t understand why they don’t just leave TENNIS on the TENNIS CHANNEL where people understand tennis fans and allow viewers to see any match they want to view. Mostly great - but lacking in at least one respectLike many fans, I check the ESPN app multiple times each day and appreciate the voluminous coverage given to major league sports. But I must admit that I’m disappointed by the absolute paucity of cycling coverage. I realize that cycling isn’t as popular in the US as it is in Europe (and many other countries) but cyclists compete in one of the most physically demanding sports in the world, and they deserve coverage commensurate with their efforts. Consider this: Cyclists in a major Tour event spend in excess of 60 hours IN the saddle, covering more than 1,000 miles and climbing dozens of mountains (many of them very steep), in multiple tour events each year. They spend around 4-5 hours in the saddle each day for 3 weeks, with only a couple of days off, with no break time, time outs or halftime, and wearing no protective gear other than a helmet. Great AppI use a lot of sports apps and they all work pretty similarly. This one has everything the others do all in one. Once you learn how, the app is very easy to navigate. The favorite teams AND SPORTS is helpful to narrow down the news that shows up. The stories is my favorite part especially with the interactive voting. The one request I have for it is this: if there were more stories that I could just scroll through they would be a GREAT time killer. When I'm bored I like to open them up for a minute but there are only five per day if I'm correct. If I was able to scroll through those just a little bit more I would enjoy killing time watching Joe Burrow talk about his real diamonds and watching people dunk on mini basketball hoops. Other than that the articles are well written and my notifications are personalized to where I'm not getting random sports I've never heard of like for other apps. It’s fast, up-to-date, and does a great job keeping you informed on everything happening in the sports world. Live scores, breaking news, stats, and event coverage are all top-notch, and it’s definitely one of the best places to follow multiple sports in one spot. However, the app has some major downsides when it comes to the viewing experience. There’s no resume feature, so you can’t pick up a video or event where you left off. There’s also no “You’re Watching” section, which means if you switch devices or close the app, you’re stuck having to search for the event all over again. This has been especially frustrating when watching WWE PLEs — switching devices means starting completely from scratch every time. ADS are killer!It is obnoxiously frustrating that I see the same ad 10 times because I’m watching 7 short clips of sports. It’s seriously awful. If I click on a video, there’s an ad. If I click the next video, there’s the same ad. If I finish the video, and want to get back to an article, I can’t. I don’t know how (or why!!) but I actually can’t close the video without closing the app, being forced to watch the ad. It’s incredibly infuriating. I can’t customize the app like I used to be able to. I basically only care about the NFL, and my favorite team is the Seahawks. Slow and disappointingSo far, this app has been great, but there are a few things that make me rate less than a 5 or 4. I primarily use this app for baseball, as football season hasn't started. I just installed this app it to see if it was better that other baseball viewing apps I own. So far, the interface is great and well designed, but the app is SLOW! It takes a long time to start up, and it has a hard time with simple actions in general such as clicking on the details or score of a game. So far, I have had no problem with the live TV viewing aspect of it, but it should be noted that I haven't used it much as I am at home with my TV. The main thing that annoys me the most is that when I click on a player up at bat in the app, it brings me to a glitched version of the app’s website. You are unable to scroll, and have to use a drop down menu to continue on to the stats. Then when you finally get the stats, there is barely anything! WORST UPDATEThis latest update is absolutely terrible. The ads are all broken now and are making me miss full minutes of the hockey game every time the stupid app cuts to the ad timeline. When the ads were in line with the game stream there was no interruption and everything worked fine. Now every time we watch an ad break the app glitches and doesn’t switch back to the game without me having to touch the screen and scrub forward and backward to shake it out of the frozen glitch. When I am watching hockey while washing dishes I do not have an extra third hand that is dry enough to do this. What’s worse is that at the end of the game I like to go back through the game and rewatch specific plays. Can’t do that anymore because as soon as you start scrubbing back and forth to find the correct time stamp the dumb app launches into yet another ad. I already watched all these ads. You know what this is doing? Making me not want to support a single one of these idiotic advertisers who are paying to make hockey unwatchable for me. The previous app worked flawlessly for years. I faithfully watched every dang ad even the repeated ones because it was worth it to watch games live. Used to be if you missed a game and were disappointed to have to watch it later, you could at least appreciate being able to fast forward through the ads. Constant Issues, Absolutely NO Customer SupportI’ve contacted customer service several times, same issues occur. I’ve been told I would be contacted by management- never happened. Forces me to (re)sign in (constantly), or sign in to my cable provider, which then tells me my password is wrong- which is not accurate. VERY frustrated! I’m tired of the same issues with this app over and over! I constantly have issues watching UFC Fights no matter where I am, no matter how good the network is. In the middle of a Co-Main Event, the app started reloading with the spinning circle for over a minute then said “No Content Available” several times. I closed the app, reopened it, then it said “Unexpected Error.” By the time I was able to turn it back on the fight was over. Extremely frustrating, not only bc I pay for these fights, but bc I love this sport and am tired of missing so many moments simply bc the app has issues. What is the problem? What is going to be done? I even hear about the same issues on the most popular MMA podcasts, how is this fair for paying customers?? I’m over here sweating in my living room trying a variety of things while the clock is ticking- family is waiting. I’m tired of this! But as you know, there is no other source to watch these fights. Wish i had more hands. At least 4 thumbs downIf you love ads and miss regular cable commercials this is the app for you. ESPN is the world wide leader in sports no question so i find myself using the app out of habit but not by choice. I would delete but i pay ESPN+ for soccer matches. Most apps start free, then they up sell you by telling you hey pay and we get rid of or minimize ads. Not ESPN. You got ads, commercials, and content trying to run at the same time causing the app to, in simple terms, not work. Sad to say but i think the only thing that really works flawlessly in this app is the running of the ads however they can only seem to figure out how to run THE SAME ad over and over again. At least cable tv switches up the commercials and u might run into something you might actually want. Espn runs the same ad before anything and everything you click there is no escaping it. I’d go as far as to say the ads work better than most of the videos they post of the actual content you are looking for. Tap in for a highlight you will get a flawlessly run ad followed by a barely functional video of the content you want. Worst App Experience of My LifeWhere do I start. Ok purchased the app through apple apparently. Called about 10 times to link my account to my tv so I could watch the fights on the tv, which is the entire reason I paid for the app. Called customer service which was a call center in a foreign country which I have zero issue with. All 10 times I called they told me I had to link my accounts, and they would take care of it. Half the time they told me they were working on it and after literally an hour and a half I would get disconnected. Once they gave me thirty days free which I had already paid for which allowed me to watch it on my tv but then 30 days later it would stop working. I couldn’t figure out why until someone the next time I called the call center told me the last person hadn’t fixed the problem they had given me thirty days free. They never attempted to give me another 30 days free and never were able to link the accounts and I just gave up trying. But it gets better. I’m trying to watch football on the app on my tv because it doesn’t take subscription, which is only on my phone, to watch. Works for months. All of a sudden I get a notice ERROR FAILURE TO AUTHENTICATE USER. I call stellar customer service and they couldn’t help me. After an hour I just decided to give up on the calm and the app. Bottom line it just doesn’t work well at all. Amazing ESPN can’t figure out how to make this work and customer service should just be cut waste of over head they don’t know how to help. Cannot fathom a single review here that’s over 1 star.I use the ESPN app for the most part to access my ESPN+ subscription and watch UFC and other PPV events. Casting to the TV to watch with friends, etc. It is no exaggeration that I would rather go to a bootleg/ illegal streaming site and sift through a million ads to watch any ppv event, fight night or ball game. If it wasn’t for the HD clarity of ESPN videos and some shows like Detail this app and the ESPN+ subscription would be obsolete. This app is horrible. Whatever programming went into this app is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Half the time, when you tap the app from Home Screen it won’t even open (it’ll be a blank screen or a buffering symbol). It takes about 4-5 attempts for anything to appear and then navigating each screen is a nightmare. Be prepared to wait anywhere from 15-45 seconds for any navigation to a separate page to register. If you try to scroll or click too fast the app will force quit. Just to find the video or PPV event I have to go through various breathing exercises to remain calm and practice patience. Once you’ve found what you’re looking for it may take another 2-3 attempts to get it to play. If it doesn’t, you’ll have to force close the app and go through the entire process again. Once it’s playing, don’t you dare try to fast forward or rewind. You’re setting yourself up for immense frustration as these typical video player features are beyond the capabilities of ESPN’s app programming team. Glitchiest app I’ve ever usedUnfortunately ESPN has hijacked the NHL. Navigating through games is a chore, especially if you are trying to watch a replay of an older game you may have missed. There’s no date, no rhyme or reason to how they log the replays, you have to know exactly the matchup you’re looking for if you plan on finding it. Using the app on Xbox one is an even bigger nightmare. If you miss the start of a game you have to scroll through the time line , sometimes causing spoilers - to find the beginning, you’d think just taking the timeline back to the start would bring you there but there’s an hour to an hour and a half of “you event will start soon”. Sometimes the rewind and fast forward feature aren’t even there and you have to exit out of the app and go back in hoping it works. Also the play and pause button don’t work while rewinding or fast forwarding. If you want to stop your times roll you have to slow down/speed up the search speed until the arrow is not moving anymore, that causes it to pause, but there’s still no play/resume in option so you have to let the Xbox idle until the search screen goes away, then bring the search screen back up and then you can play/resume from the paused screen. Horrible nNational CoverageWhat an embarrassment! If you guys can't handle managing your channels with the current NHL playoff schedule you should have someone else take over the Broadcast. Because of your switch between ESPN and ESPN2 for the AVs /Dallas game ,many of us missed much of the first period.. For those people who were recording the game to see at a later time, they wouldn't have made the switch at all, and they would sit down watch their game recording to discover they had the wrong game. Numerous times during during Game one Avs versus Dallas the announcers did not have players names correctly.. The lack of familiarity with one team or another is obvious. Worst streaming app out thereThis app is trash. Every few days it asked me to login again. It has me confirm my subscription through a TV provider. Then, after, confirming, it will just spin forever. Then I have to close it, open it again, and try it again. And variably it doesn’t recognize me. It is the most frustrating, garbage thing you could imagine. It’s bad enough having to reset a password, or having to make a call to a provider to get them to reset your password, this is worse. This is me, confirming that I’ve already paid for the service and this trash of an app not being able to accept that I already have. Ruined by RedesignThe ESPN App has been my first choice for sports highlights and information ever since I got my first iPhone 4. Sure, they have had some minor issues and quirks here and there, but overall it has been a very solid app—until this redesign. This redesign is downright dreadful. It’s like someone in their design team said they wanted to go from useful sports information hub to scattered, non-functional video tabloid. The Home tab used to display a couple of the most recent scores from each league of interest, with an occasional video recap if one of your “favorite” teams played recently and a link to “See All Scores” from that league if the team you were looking for was not included in the couple that were displayed. Now, the Home tab has been redesigned to be an endless scroll of videos that may or may not relate to any of your favorite teams or leagues but you can bet that they will auto-play until your phone dies if you let them and every one of them will contain an advertisement so they can make money off of the videos they play. On the bright side, for the few people who aren’t disappointed in the ESPN+ subscription, they have added a Watch tab so you can watch their daytime programming. Also, they’ve added a Listen tab so you can listen to them if their streaming won’t support what’s needed to watch the programming. ESPN, please create an option within the app to use the redesigned version or to stick with the old version. The worst app i have ever usedI cannot make this up i have never experienced an app that has so many issues constantly, I can’t even tell you how many times i have been watching fights wilts friends when it decided to kick me out of the app every 3 minutes or so. Staring, switching streams is a nightmareIt is unreal how difficult it is to start and switch streams. Let’s take today’s game for an example: game for ESPN is delayed 10 minutes from 6 to 6:10. My game starts on ESPN+ since the prior game on ESPN hasn’t finished yet. Problem 1: If I hit “play” on my stream at 6:00, it will stay on the “your event is about to start” screen well past actual tipoff. It doesn’t switch to start the stream when it starts Problem 2: AFTER the stream starts, I find it and hit play. I’ve already missed the very beginning of the stream since I can’t join it early (see problem 1). Problem 3: I’m happily watching my stream on ESPN+, when the stream cuts out to a loading screen of sorts (presumably the prior game finished on ESPN). Problem 4: I now try to find my game again on the menus, and I do eventually. I click it, and the stream says it hasn’t started yet! Why would one stream cut out (problem 3) when the new one isn’t ready yet (problem 4)? Problem 5: I have to exit out of the stream and find it again on the menus because we established in problem 1 that you can’t stay on a “event has not yet started” or else it may never actually switch to the live feed once it starts. Waste of $ for ESPN+After months of getting air messages on the app while using, email solicitations, expansion of the plus materials to include not just video content, but exclusive articles and live TV sporting events...I finally caved and purchased the $4.99 upgrade to ESPN+ this month (Sept). Thought it must be a glitch, that it’s only promoting for other ESPN+ material...another few days go by and today I saw an Apple iPhone commercial for 15 seconds before watching video content about Kirk Cousin apologizing for playing poorly against the #1 defense in the NFL. I understand this is half the commercial time without plus, but the only reason I decided to go with it was to eliminate the annoying ads that you get at the start of EVERY video. I get you need to get paid ESPN/Disney, but don’t false advertise me, don’t make promises that you can’t keep or half keep. I am so fed up with ESPN and all the ads, I don’t even feel like I’m getting the sports material anymore! I’m not sure if I even kept paying the subscription that it would stop, or reduce. Sub par sports tracking app/ rampant advertisingMuch like the channel, the ESPN app has turned into a shell of itself. App is slow with updates, B/R & all my sports books I follow somehow keep up faster than ESPN. It’s an absolute PAIN most of the time searching for one game in particular everything’s so jumbled up with ads taking up 1/3 of the screen, try to swipe & click a ad accidentally on way too many occasions, is ESPN+ not making you guys enough money? Slow and UninvitingI am completely in shock this application has any 5 star reviews at all, there are so many inherent bugs and problems with this app. The application takes millions of years to load up every time, even though most of the data that is being loaded is simple numbers and pictures. The interface of the application is not conducive to finding something you need, the NBA G League and then the NHL is the first sports that shows up in my ‘scores’ section however I have NEVER touched these tabs, I frequently use the NFL NBA and MLB tabs and they are always the hardest to find why would you make it that way. More than 75% of the time when you want to read an article or watch a video from your notifications outside of the application it will load the background of the ESPN app and you could leave it open for a year you’re never getting your article or video to open up or play. And then, once you’ve opened that notification and it’s gone you will never be able to find that article or video because the videos and articles section is IMPOSSIBLE to find what you need either. Missing primary use caseLike most people, I use this app primarily for a quick look at the latest scores and/or important sports news. On a day when there are many games going on, I check that app many times throughout the day to see the latest scores. I’m only in the app for 30 seconds or less each time and want it to open instantaneously. This app no longer meets that primary need. Instead, as others have indicated, It’s very slow to start, very slow to scroll, and it takes multiple clicks for me to see the scores. I want quick open and instant access to scores and instead get slow response and a “duck hunt” to find the scores I’m looking for. My guess is ESPN is trying to increase engagement time for the obvious reason of making more money on ads, trying to get get us to give them more personal information (e.g., email address), and trying to get paid subscribers. While I don’t fault them for trying to make more money, I do fault them for doing so at the expense of a good user experience. I suggest the following: On app open show just the scores without video and complex card layouts. Allow teasers to videos and news stories for those who have more time. But don’t force it on everyone. Also use a little a guy to evaluate usage patterns. If someone is using it the app primarily to check scores keep showing scores first. On the other hand, if someone is using it primarily to watch videos, then go ahead and show that first. Then you get the best of both worlds and maximize revenue without frustrating some sports fans. Not happy about gambling odds being front & center.ESPN has always been about all things sports. Like millions of others, their focus on sports news, great shows & irreplaceable commentary has been on my radar for years. I watch Sportscenter, Pardon the Interruption & Get Up daily & think Mike Greenberg is the best in the business. You have a great product because of the focus on sports. Para-sports is where I draw the line. Sports betting will indeed be lucrative for ESPN. You will probably be receiving more financial stability than the network has ever had, but I disagree with the emphasis on commentators plugging the betting. Yes, ‘lines’ for games have always been a thing - and by providing them, I have mentally known who might have the advantage here & there, but is there maybe, just a bit, that being proponents of both betting and sports together might be making strange bedfellows? Reporting a news story about an athlete (or translator of an athlete) being banned from their sport from betting one moment, then providing the best odds for the first 3 Scottie Scheffler holes the next moment seems like shooting yourselves in the foot. I know the rules - and technically speaking there’s not a problem, per se. Will I continue to use your apps, pay for your services? Yes, for the time being. But if the programming turns too cringy for me because of the overemphasis of ESPNbet, I might find sports reporting somewhere else without all the recruiting of another financial cash cow. Coverage is horrible for LPGA golfSigned up for a 1 month trial to watch the Cognizant event - with Nelly Korda going for a historic sixth straight win. The coverage was truly horrible, in nearly every respect. Specific issues included: (1) Primarily covering only “feature” groups that were irrelevant, as opposed to covering leaders Korda, Zhang and Sagstrom (especially on final round coverage); (2) Poor and innacurate commentary (e.g. referring to players on the wrong hole, making comments like “This is a 356 yard par 5 that most players will have to use a hybrid to reach…” and many other examples- like the stupid commentary that droned on about drinking from a shoe - is that more important than covering the leaders); (3) Really poor camera work - in many instances the camera person couldn’t find/follow the ball after a really good drive into the fairway or approach shot onto green - they would have to pan for it until finding it. Many other issues, and really regret the purchase - strongly advise others not to make the same mistake; (4) Persistent “technical issues” - especially with audio (e.g. announcers that can’t hear each other, talk over each other, or can’t/don’t respond when queried by another announcer, as well as numerous “hot mike” moments where technical support make comments that are only intended for the announcers. ESPN has become a parody of what it used to be. Now it’s just a joke that nobody should pay for - especially ESPN+. ESPNThis app is terrible. Just to use the app you have to consent to it accessing your precise location which means the app has to know where you are within 1 meter. It will not allow you to just give it access to your location which would be a general area. It requests to monitor all of your activities across all downloaded apps on your phone and track the websites you visit. You also have to pay for it and it still requires you to view commercials. It requires a very good internet connection and drains your device battery much faster than other streaming service apps. I find this app not user friendly and a heavy marketing platform. It’s very intrusive. It’s the only non GPS navigation app I have that forces me to give my exact location. There is no need for an app to know literally which room I am in in a building or which seat I am sitting in at a restaurant. That’s absurd. Its the equivalent of someone saying “hey for me to talk to you I need to know constantly exactly where you are within an arms distance, who you talk to, when you talk to them, what you say to them, how often you talk, what apps you use, what you view on each app, how long you spend on each app, I need to know everything you google search when you google search where you are standing when you search, when you use your phone when you unlock your phone and I’m also going to consume more power on your phone than anything else you have to pay for me you have to listen to my ads that are irrelevant to you and you have to have good connection or better to the internet to talk to me. This is robberyIt’s Saturday morning and I’m trying to watch one tof the Bundesliga games! I select one and wait, only to get a blank screen. So I select another game only to have the same result. This app used to be so reliable that using the 4-up viewing option used to be seamless. You can’t even have 1 match to load now so forget about taking advantage of the other multicast options. When it decides to maybe work, then the commentary you’re hearing doesn’t match the game on the screen. So you get out and start over to experience the issues. It’s like grow hog day! It has this really cool feature that when you select your game, you get all excited and you immediately get taken back the games grid. Poor App, difficult to connect/watchI honestly have difficulty deciding which is worse, the ESPN app or the website, as far as being able to view live games. Typically, I have to log in and out 5-10 times and independently log in to my cable provider 5-10 times each time I want to stream live games or replays. It’s quite amazing how many times you can be told that your cable subscription does not cover the live stream only to find out, on the 10th attempt, that it does. Considering it’s listed as one of the supported cable subscriptions, I’m guessing the 10th time is accurate. I have considered the possibility that it’s related to my cable provider, but since I experience the same issues with my ESPN+ subscription without going through my cable provider, I’m guessing it’s not. Of note, ESPN+ won’t be renewed. Absolute Trash for watching gamesESPN+ is garbage for watching games. I’ve never been so frustrated by an app. All I want to do is watch my team. Sometimes I’m a little behind so I have the setting for “hide scores” on, so this app is like, “hey! won’t show you the scores on one page maybe, but we’ll do everything we can to give away the score.” For example, it shows a scoring summary on the same page I have to have the game open. Also, the ads are a complete joke. Since the scrubbing doesn’t work effectively (no preview or time stamp), I have to guess with no basis of where the game started and then probably watch 1-2 min of ads (once they finally load) only to find out I was way off and do it all over again. And even if I’m watching the game live, the forced ads can delay when you join back to “live.” The other day, I started right on time, but by 10 min left in the game, I was over 5 min behind bc of the ads. It’s a shame to pay for an ESPN+ subscription and deal with such a trash experience getting to and watching the game. Yes I’m frustrated bc all I want to do is watch my team play either live with consistent stream quality and timing or later without the score given away. App user experience is bottom of the barrelIf I go to watch a short video clip (highlights for example), I’m always forced to watch an ad that is often longer than the actual clip despite the fact I pay for ESPN+. Also, on PS4, the video controls and time bar will not leave the screen unless controller is turned off. I checked Reddit, and this problem has persisted for 2 years. It’s mind-blowing that a company with the power of ESPN wouldn’t fix this immediately. The phone app doesn’t work with Googlecast on the TV; it never has for me. The app does not keep track of show progress so you can easily jump back into a season where you left off. This is the only streaming app I know of with this issue. It’s confusing for an app to have all of these issues for so long…and never have any of them fixed. It makes it much worse when you look at the assets available to espn/Disney. It’s frustrating that paying for ESPN+ doesn’t include the typical espn content like Sportscenter in the age of cord-cutting. The ads will open with a simple scrolling motion, not even a click. It’s constantly redirecting me to the App Store or safari when I’m just trying to scroll past. Also, ads embedded within videos will play with no option to back out of the video screen. You’re forced into watching an ad for a video you don’t intend to watch! A 30-second ad will play for every video clip regardless of duration, and a new one will begin after a clip ends without being able to back out of it. Give the ads a rest. You already charge $10 a month for an espn+ subscription and you continue to cram ads down the users throat while providing generally terrible video clips. Also, I’ve completely given up trying to stream video through my TV subscription. Streaming has NEVER worked despite having an active tv subscription. How?I honestly have no idea how a company with as much money as this has such an awful app. It’s slow, bordering on unresponsive sometimes. My phone is flaming hot after a few minutes of use on the app, although that could just be my phone and not the app. I get a lot of alerts on from ESPN, but when I click on them, it’s about a 50/50 shot of whether or not I get to see what I clicked. Ads freeze all the time, keeping me from getting to a video I click on. Videos also typically start at about 4 pixels on the screen and get marginally better as the video goes on, no matter if I’m connected to my very good WiFi or my cellular data. The amount of content is also a little subpar. When you look at an app like Bleacher Report that produces an insane amount of well-done and free content on an app that actually works, the paywall of ESPN+ is just silly. Streaming from the app is also nearly impossible for me. But the website is just as bad. The content that I actually get to see is usually pretty good stuff, making it a two star rating instead of a one star. App Problems & Poor Customer ServiceI have ESPN+ and am a ufc fan. For the longest time when you click a ppv event the page comes up with the card and to select which fight to stream. All of a sudden about 10-15 ppv ago the app broke and it just shows the load screen indefinitely. I spent couple hours on the phone with customer support who said there was no issue they saw and would monitor. Spent about 30-45 min of them trying to blame my service connection speed. There was also a load problem getting into my ESPN+ profile to see my subscription info and to cancel/renew. They did not acknowledge that problem either. Needless to say I canceled my auto renewal while on the phone. After 4-6 weeks the problem still exists. The problem doesn’t exist if logging in and viewing through web browser so it’s clearly an app problem they won’t acknowledge. It’s unfortunate because prior to that I had no complaints or issues with the service. Now as they continue to ratchet up subscription costs each year by 20%+, and roughly 40% this coming year your supposed to ignore their issues and lack of technical support. Quality of ArticlesI use the app for updates on scores mainly. The content in terms of writing, is often old, and without substance that would differentiate from merely the score. Redundancy seems to be the theme with ESPN. Let’s just write and speak the same things over and over regardless of the audience be it on an app or television. Rarely works for ESPN+ gamesEvery once in a while, a game for a league, competition, or tournament has a final or important game on ESPN+ and I have had ESPN+ for a while on its own and now through the Disney+ bundle. Well it rarely works. Sometimes I just open it up and it plays the game, but most of the time, like right now, I try to play the game while already logged into ESPN+ and it keeps telling me to gain access I need to log in or go to a different place to log in and access the game. I have been trying for 45 minutes now to “gain access” to ESPN+ game while already logged into ESPN+ and I still have yet to watch a single second of the game that is already half way over. Thanks for making watching sports stupid and confusing. I miss the days of turning on the tv to the channel that’s playing the game and that’s it.
