Weather Mate Pro - Forecast Positive Reviews

BEST weather app for iphone and watch!Weather mate pro has everything i wanted and more for following all the weather. and with the new watch complication, you get all the amazing weather details on your watch. plus the same alerts/ warnings/ etc you get on your phone. the amount of customization you can choose is amazing. for example, to start, choose the weather station you prefer from the places you've picked. then customize the different complications on your watch. i give it 5 stars! since, nothing is perfect, here's what i'd like to see changed. change the big part in the top box, it gives me the feeling of an older digital alarm clock. i always wished that the time display and blue bulls eye/wind direction gauge was done differently. and definitely not so big, it's out of sync with the rest of the more modern and somehow friendlier looking graphics. i like the big weather graphic in the top box though (sun behind the clouds, sun, etc...). and lastly, i love all the weather details now available on my watch. but in the future, being able to view all the details for more than one location (current or home), on the watch, would be great. so, home/current location plus other picks (los angeles, washington d.c., etc.) available to view on the watch. even so, this weather app still stomps all the others. for loads of clear, useful, detailed, timely and customizable weather data (in the usa and beyond), this is the weather app to have..Version: 6.1.2

A METEOROLOGIST REVIEWAlthough, I’ve officially been a meteorologist for only a year, I would say I know a thing or two about the weather from all my time in college. And let STRESS how important it is to use NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) for your weather source. This is the most accurate weather data and it is assessable to everyone, not just meteorologists. BUT, I’ve always wanted to experience the convenience of weather apps, and the NWS doesn’t provide an official app. So I did some searching on all the top rated weather apps on the App Store and checked all their weather sources, since most aren’t listed in their general description. And all the other apps pull weather data from third party providers, which is a recipe for errors, even if they’re small, in weather forecasts. So to say I was excited to find this app that emphases they use NWS and NOAA for their app, is an understatement. Also, a major perk is it being compatible to use as a widget on the newest iPhone updates, so all I do is scroll left and all my weather data is up and refreshed for me without having to open the app. The standard free version of the app is great itself but I highly recommend spending the one time $3.99 for the upgraded version of the app. The upgrade allows you to view much more weather on your screens widget page so there’s never a need to open the app. Just scroll and look and go!.Version: 7.4.4

The only app with historic weather dataI am a gardener (and a weather nerd), and I absolutely need to know the long-term average high and low temperature and the long-term record high and low temperature for my location each day. It's the first thing I check each morning. For years I used Intellicast, because it had a very simple graphic each day with current temp and all the other (average and record) temperature data on it. Simple and beautiful. Then Intellicast was replaced by Storm with no historic weather data. I searched and searched for a new weather app with historic weather data and found none. I finally settled on this app because it has a nice clean look, lets me choose my weather data (dewpoint, moon rise, etc) and the radar function includes future storm tracks instead of where the storm has already been. I did not find the historic weather info until I'd had this app for about a year. I'm not sure if it came with an update or if it's because it's hard to find. The historic info is under an icon called "almanac" that is only visible when you expand the top menu with the three dots in the upper right corner. Who knew? I think the app developers would be wise to highlight the fact that they have historic weather data, because no other weather app does, and many gardeners need this information. Thanks for a great app..Version: 7.2.1

The only viable alternative to Storm on iOSFor some reason, only this app and what used to be Storm (but is now whatever the weather channel monstrosity app is called) will show you real time weather fronts. If you know how to look at a weather map, the position and speed of an incoming warm or cold front can tell you a lot about what the weather will be like for the day. You can supplement that info with current radar, temps, the NWS’ forecast discussion, wind speed, dew point, pressure, etc. This one has all of that, (which means everything that Storm had), except with a much more outdated GUI. Like as if we were still on iOS 5. But I’ll HAPPILY take a bad looking weather app with tons of great info over a garbage weather app (i.e. the app formerly known as Storm) without any real info. It’s ironic, because those people basically turned Storm into an app that somehow looks worse than this app, which is saying a lot since this app looks like its stuck in 2011. Like everyone in the reviews is saying: This is the only weather app that’s a suitable replacement for the old Storm app. Developers of this app will get 5 stars from me, regardless, if for no other reason than its the only app which shows positions of cold fronts relative your location. Update the GUI and I’ll give you that sixth star! ;).Version: 6.1.2

Storm is gone, thankfully these guys exist!EDIT! This app is still the best app out there. I actually like this app more than the original Storm app which is hard to believe. Also, I emailed the developer to ask for some enhancements and they replied within a day and said that they were already on the list to add to the app! Truly a great find when it comes to weather apps. Storm was my go to app for weather. It had a feature set that was perfect for just about anyone. Weather channel bought them and they essentially shelved the app. I must have downloaded 10 other apps trying to find something to replace Storm, but nothing came close. Until now... Weather Mate Pro is not just as good as Storm, it’s actually better. The available layers and feature set is far superior to what Storm had. I am so happy to have found this app! The only thing missing is the distance rings around your location. I think Storm used it for lightning tracking, but it was very handy to see the distance rings of 25, 50, 75, and 100 miles right on the radar. You could look at the movement of an incoming storm and quickly see the speed and estimate the actual timing it would be arriving. Hopefully they will add it in the future. Anyways, great app that I highly recommend!.Version: 6.1.2

One of the best, with a few issuesThis is the best app if you like to use PWS data so you know exactly where your weather data is coming from AND you are sick of Wunderground, which is almost useless anymore. This app has lots of features and a nice clean interface, beautiful graphics and a nice radar. However there are a few things I don’t like. I find it hard to save my PWS as my default weather station. Sometimes it will show all the others in the surrounding area but not mine even though it is at my location and working fine! But my biggest issue is with weather notifications. Even though I have notifications on for my location and allowed in my iPhone settings I just don’t seem to get them with any regularity. Today for example we had a Winter Weather Advisory at 1323. I didn’t get the notification from this app until 1730!!! 4 hours later! That’s unacceptable, especially for severe weather and is the only reason I keep Wunderground, because their weather notifications are reliable and punctual. I have the paid version of the app and tried to contact customer support. But when I do I get an error that there is no email account associated with my device with no directions on how to do so. Fix these issues and I’ll give this app 5 stars..Version: 7.5.6

My Current Go-to Weather appOct. 2020: I had problems with this app in previous iOS versions, but the last few it has done more than the other apps I’ve tried over the years. It plays well with iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch. Sometimes updating my watch is laggy but the info available on the watch is robust. ********************* Prior to Oct. 2020: I love everything about this app on my iPhone and iPad. However, the way notifications work on my watch is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. It took me the better part of a week to find out what the random audible notification I kept getting on my watch with no visible indication what the sound was for. Honestly I don’t know how I determined it was this app, but it is. (When I take it off of one of my complications it goes away-add & the notification come back) I don’t want random audio notifications, and there is not way to turn the audible off. I’ve turned it off on my phone but there’s not an option on the watch to disable sound notifications. Everything else this app does on my watch is exactly what I want a weather app to do. It’s info and data rich and in my area it can be extremely important to have the extra info when the weather changes often and rapidly at times. **NOTE: This notification problem was not an issue until the most recent app update..Version: 7.4.7

Pretty close to perfect...Update: Finally formatted to fit iPhone X screen! Thank you! Still waiting on UI update and map zoom start feature a year after this original review was written, but once again customer support is the BEST in the App Store – or anywhere else for that matter... The reintroduction of the WeatherRadio is fabulous. AND, the lightning, storm tracking and other layer data on the map is extensive and pretty accurate as far as I can tell. Although the UI could perhaps use a little modern spit and polish, this app has something even better going for it than the best weather forecasting -- it's got responsive customer support. The rest should take a lesson. All that aside -- I have found the forecasting very accurate and the oodles of customizable data very welcome. I live in Southwest Florida where weather can change on a dime, so the more data the better. The only complaint I had about their super quick-loading radar was that the initial view was so zoomed out it takes a lot of pinching to zoom in to my city. But they responded immediately to let me know they are working on providing a custom zoom setting. Still waiting on that, but a tiny inconvenience. Awesome. So five stars even if it's not yet perfect..Version: 6.0

This has become my go to weather appI’m kind of a weather app nerd.. I have just over a dozen. I used to call WU (weather underground) my favorite, but it got buggy and less reliable. So I switched to this one and have yet to be disappointed. It has all the weather info you could possibly want, it correctly locates me every time, it has a watch complication (sometimes the temp updating lags, but I think they are all like that). It has a decent radar, I like the recent addition of the radius rings to help see how far away storms are. The only thing I think is lacking is if you use carrot or dark sky, they give you a better idea for when rain will start/stop and have some nice graphs. Also sometimes I just want to see the current radar picture, but it has to load the last several hours to animate which takes some time.. But an app can never be perfect! Update July 2023: Years later, still one of the best weather apps I have. Best radar of all the weather apps I have. I find myself always looking for a new and awesome weather app, I try most of em out there. But always wind up back to the ‘ol trusty Weather Mate.Version: 7.7.7

Finally, a worthy replacement for StormAs others have noted, Storm used to be *the* app for weather nerds, balancing radar views with forecast data and practical usability. But then The Weather Channel got its hands on it and all was lost. I must’ve tried two dozen weather apps over the last few months looking for an alternative, and Weather Mate is absolutely the best choice. Top-notch data presented completely and intelligently with a host of options for reordering or culling how it’s displayed. No “cutesy” reinventions that dumb down forecast information to barely useful tidbits or a single obtuse icon like so many apps do. I also like that it’s one of the few apps that displays the full NWS forecast text (if you want it). Finally, it’s also one of the cheapest, with no subscription required. I like that. My one criticism would be (and why I give it four stars instead of five) there are elements of the user interface that look like they’re straight out of iOS 6. Hard-coded old style buttons and widgets that really should be modernized. It gives the app the appearance of abandonware. But I’m willing to forgive this oversight because everything else about it is so good. Kudos to the developers For keeping the data plentiful and at the forefront of the app’s purpose..Version: 5.4.3

Best, Amazingly accurate & worth every penny! So, let’s be honest here, I tried many other weather apps prior to this one and I have to say, when I found this one; I just knew my search was over! When comparing the prior apps to Weather Mate, well put simply: “Yup, this is the one to sink a few dollars in.” Radar is accurate and spot on for my local area, (due to local weather stations connected to WiFi and making there information usable by others, and/or one is able to purchase a personal weather station and is able to directly sync the information to the app itself!) as well as any where I may travel: I’ll have reliable real-time weather forecast! To make this review basically short and sweet; highly recommend this app to everyone who really wants reliable information with almost near perfection, in my opinion. I should know, I’ve been using this app for almost 2 years and it’s the only app I’ve used for my personal use, as well planning outings with my family and friends! Everything! Five stars, wish I could give more! Keep up the amazing work- to those who are behind the scenes working with this app! “Ku-Dos” 👍🏻👏🏻🙌🏻✋🏻.Version: 7.5.2

Best widgets and watch complicationsUPDATE: I confirm everything I said in the past, and I like to see they are pushing recent updates again which is great! I wish they could redesign the look within the app to a more modern and updated look, other than that this app is still A+. In terms of looks, I feel carrot weather is the best plus it allows to personalize the layout but this app is much better for all devices. PREVIOUS REVIEW: This app has a lot of information and the best widgets, frankly I wish they had a a better layout and updated design more like the actual apple weather app or carrot weather app, but none of those has better little square widgets for iPhone than this app, and that’s all I use this app for by now until they redesign the layout once you open the app. If they ever manage to do that, I’m pretty sure this will be the only weather app I’ll use. They also have the best Apple Watch complications configuration so you can make them look with the info you desire, this app is so close to being perfect, hoping they redesign their in app looks and layouts🤞🏻.Version: 7.6.1

Amazing Weather appThis is an amazing app. That says a lot coming from a weatherman of 40 years! It has some areas in need of improvement, so I can’t give it 5 stars, but it is the best observed weather app I’ve used to date. The radar animation goes back six hours (hurray!) but the time sensitive overlays, like warnings or advisories, are displayed for the entire 6-hour animation even though they were in effect for only 15 minutes of that period. That’s what I find most annoying, but overall, an enjoyable app even from a cynical weatherman like me! Bravo! Update: I’ve been encountering a crash issue lately when it loads up. To solve it, I have to delete the app, then reinstall, and then reconfigure all my lost preferences. That too, is annoying, but it is still an app that I recommend to my friends. Another update: I still experience infrequent crashes (several versions of the app later) that render the app useless and cannot be relaunched. I have to delete the app and reinstall it, then reconfigure my preferences. I can have a lot more patience if I can simply relaunch after a crash, but starting completely over each time is extremely annoying..Version: 7.7.5

FINALLY, weather complications for the Watch!I didn’t buy this for the phone app. There are plenty of weather apps out there and I didn’t need another one. I paid money for this, specifically for the CUSTOMIZABLE Watch complications! Most weather apps have NO complications at all, and the one or two apps that do, have only one really lame one. This app not only has GREAT complications, but there’s a bunch! One for every corner, circle, bar, and midsection. AND they’re even customizable to display the info you want them to. Many even display more than one thing in the same corner or circle. The middle bars can contain up to 4 or 5 bits of information. The reason I’m only giving 4 stars right now, is because it doesn’t seem updated for the newest Series 7 faces. Many of the new S7 faces are missing, including the Dual Modular. The other reason is because we can’t individualize the 4 corners (or 3 circles) to display different options. If you select “weather mate” for all 4 corners, then all four will display the same thing. If they can change that one feature to allow individualized corners or circles, then I will change my rating to the 5 stars it deserves..Version: 7.5.91

I’d say it’s worth the money 👍🏼It’s not perfect, but it’s an all-around good app. It’s certainly the best-looking weather app I’ve seen, and aesthetics are important to me. The graphics and customization options are great — even my husband commented on how nice it looked when he saw me use it for the first time. I love (the idea of) the temperature app badge and the fact that I can customize the app and widget to show (or not show!) any piece of weather information I want. The biggest issue I have, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that even though I have all the permissions in place and the background refresh setting as it should be, it doesn’t always update itself... which means the app badge and the widget are sometimes wrong until I actually open the app and manually refresh it. It’s easy to do, but it defeats the purpose if those 2 extra features. And again, it’s only on occasion and not all the time, but they’re incorrect often enough that I don’t really trust either of them to be accurate... making them pretty useless in a state like Ohio, where yesterday it got up to 73° and today it’ll get down to 30°. If it doesn’t update hourly, it’s probably going to be very wrong!.Version: 7.0

Weather Mate Pro is the PWS app everyone should have..Weather Mate Pro is a perfect companion for PWS (Personal Weather Station) owners or observers. After a couple of months of running WMP, I can, for at least my setup, view my home PWS and have Official NWS observations along with the community of PWS observers all in one excellent app with accurate historical data. Access to Official NWS statements without having to use other apps to me a great bonus. I have eliminated several paid and free apps. The radar has storm tracks that’s similar to the popular Storm/WU. Storm notifications are so far quick and accurate. This app literally takes the good out of several now defunct apps or ones that have changed over time. The features seem endless. I have been looking for a PWS app with this much reference and customization for years. This app Pro version is well worth the $5 fee. This weather app is perfect for casual weather and for those wanting to view their PWS systems in the weather community. I eliminated several paid and free apps because of this Weather Mate Pro. I hope you have such good fortune as well. Thank you to the developers of this app!.Version: 7.0

Best Weather App You'll Find! There's simply nothing else like it in the app store. This is the most accurate and feature-rich app on the market. I'm saying this based on personal evaluation of over twenty popular apps (and not so popular ones). It provides a perfect blend of accurate current, forecast, and historical weather information. The radar projections are phenomenal! They're tied to the IBM / Weather Underground modeling, which is very timely and responsive. The future rendering is amazingly accurate. And the forecasts are based on Weather Underground data, which is consistently within ForecastAdvisor's top three throughout the US. Even better, you can tie local weather information to a personal weather station near you. This is INCREDIBLY valuable! I live in an area with significant microclimate variations. The closest "official" weather station is about ten miles away and almost always significantly different from my location. However, a nearby PWS is almost always spot-on. As a result, I can get real temp and precipitation readings for "home" through a major weather service app. Simply amazing!.Version: 7.4.9

Great replacement for Storm! REALLY happy with this app and the responsiveness of the WeatherMate staff. Dropped a couple of suggestions to customer service a week ago and today, those features are in! I even received an email from Wendy at WeatherMate notifying me of the changes. What a great, responsive company! NICE JOB! Compare this to the fiasco going on with Storm Radar. DylogicApps, you’ve got a customer for life. For those of you like me who feel The Weather Channel screwed you by dumping a great product called Storm, replacing it with an inferior radar widget, here’s your new weather app! It pretty much does everything Storm did except the wind and jet stream animations. The layout is pretty good, and the radar map works great. You get the front lines and pressure indicators. It also allows you to view personal weather stations. These two items alone would sell me, especially after the new Storm Radar app dumped them. Includes detailed forecasts, and other cool items like weather radio. This is an app for weather buffs, and a great pickup for those looking for their Storm replacement. Nice job!.Version: 5.4.3

The Best, Bar None! Can’t find my original review to update, so writing a new one. Originally gave it 5 stars, would give it six now after the excellent customer support I got yesterday! Wendy, you are SUPER! App went down for me yesterday in North Carolina. Would open and then shut down in about 3 secs., both on my iPad and iPhone. Tried hard re-boots and app reinstall to no avail. Filed a support request and had a reply back in about a half hour. Unbelievable! Support person went to work on the problem and found the issue, put in a rev. to Apple and the rev. was released about 4 hours later. Was trying to stay up-to-date on TS Arthur’s track and forecast, so was very happy with getting the app back up. Weather Mate is my go-to Wx app. Has everything I could want, and does it beautifully. Particularly like being able to turn on ‘fronts’. I’m still old school. They just keep updating with new and useful features every year. It’s like a Swiss Army knife - all the essentials (and then some), and easy to use. Can’t ask for more. Keep up the good work folks!.Version: 7.4.2

My new go-to weather app!Just found my new go-to weather app. Was a long time user of the Weather Underground and subsequent Storm apps, but recent changes in the Storm business model has prompted me to go looking for a new app; and, I think I have found it. The amount of information available rivals that of Storm. Weather Mate has a comprehension amount of information available that can be customized to one's particular interests/needs. As a weather geek, I especially appreciate the availability of weather fronts, as well as the centers of circulation (highs and lows). Most weather apps only show radar information on their maps. In my mind, knowing what the fronts look like helps me to not only understand what is driving the local weather that appears on the radar; but, to interpreted what the future weather will be. Only annoyance I have found so far is with the main screen. The prominent display and location of the clock/day/date is distracting and not warranted. I would rather see the high/low temperature data swapped with the clock data. I am using the app for weather information, not as my watch. Keep up the good work..Version: 5.4

Outstanding weather app!For years I have searched for a great weather app. I was a long time user of Intellicast and Storm and could not find a great replacement until I found WeatherMate. This app is the closest one I have found. I have quite a few other apps (Dark Sky, Accuweather, Weatherbug) and several other radar and storm warning programs, plus a few others now deleted as they went to subscription serve or were just terrible. I no longer consult other apps because WeatherMate does it all so much better. I do wish they had more weather stations in my storm-prone rural area but the composite I use is not bad. I do keep some other weather apps on my iPhone for bad weather notifications just in case the composite station misses a bad storm but so far the notifications are duplicated in WeatherMate. WeatherMate sometimes sends the notices a few seconds to a minute later though so I keep a few other apps on my phone just in case as seconds can make a difference in getting to shelter in time..Version: 7.4.1

I use this frequentlyI chose this originally because it is one of the few weather mapping apps I’ve run across with a “fronts” layer. In my area, the location of high and low pressure centers and the nature of the fronts between them are very helpful in understanding what weather changes I can expect. The wind animation feature, something I haven’t seen before, is very well conceived and executed! It shows me (motorcyclist, sailor, and rotorcraft pilot) at a brief glance how surface winds are flowing and how that might change in time. Combined w radar and fronts layers, I can tell a lot about what to expect in my day. When I got the app originally, the free version ads delayed the opening of the map feature, but once I paid to remove them, the app has performed well. I’ve recently begun using the (new?) option to show the map first upon opening the app, which has been very convenient. Overall, this app is working extremely well for what I need to know about the weather..Version: 7.5.5

Kudos to both the app and the customer serviceI love the app and the way it presents a wealth of data in a way that is easy to configure and take in. I'm particularly impressed with the plethora of options for the Apple Watch and its Complications. I did, however, have a problem with the Watch version and its apparent unwillingness to accept my preference for metric display units as selected in the iPhone version. I contacted customer service and received a reply, within a day, that told me concisely how to fix the problem. In case other users may be experiencing a similar issue, I present herewith the advice given: "Please open the Weather Mate app on both your iPhone & Apple Watch simultaneously. Go to iPhone app settings, change the Temperature setting to Fahrenheit & then back to Celsius. This should fix the problem on Watch app." It worked like a charm! I then repeated the procedure with the other settings in turn and watched as they all fell into line. This now my favorite weather app for iOS/WatchOS..Version: 5.4

A more than worthy replacement for StormWhen Storm was put on the shelf, I looked at several apps as a replacement. None reached Storm’s level of detail except Weather Mate, which actually surpassed Storm with its historical almanac and travel features. Hourly and daily forecasts are superb in the breadth and depth of detail. Including things like dew point give us weather junkies data that we can use to formulate in our own minds what the weather will be. Stored complete forecasts for 10 locations and the ease of moving from one to another is a great feature. Well worth the cost. It’s the first app I open when I wake in the morning. To the developer: please change the clock. It’s too big. Put the time under the date. Use this valuable screen real estate to display a thumbnail of the radar for that location. If that’s not possible, use the space to display the data in a larger size. It’s a weather app, not a timepiece..Version: 7.4.2

Best weather app!Got a new iPad and tried another weather app, even payed for it. Waste of money! Weather Mate is free and has the best appearance, information, forecast (of course they get it wrong sometimes as does everyone, weather is fickle). Most important the radar is clear and specific making it easy to plan (do I have time to mow the lawn before it rains or do I run out and close the car windows now). There is a radar lag of up to 15 minutes which is clearly noted, but with familiarity it's workable. Map overlays provide wide variety of information. Ability to list multiple locations so I can keep up with the weather where my friends live all over the country (or the world for that matter) is great! Reporting locations are nearby so the temperature is accurate for preparing for the morning dog walk. Lots of data! I got Weather Mate when Storm went away and everything but the radar lag is as good or better. Keep up the good work!.Version: 7.2.1

THE BESTI thought I had found the right weather app. That is until I found Weather Mate Pro. And I had to randomly stumble upon it! Searching "weather" does not have it pop up. After using the free version for less than 10 minutes I had no doubt about upgrading and was blown away by the price. It is the most complete app I've found. The sheer amount of information available can be mind boggling. The developers give users the settings to control this information flow. All this with a not too busy user interface. Radar choices are likewise through and controllable. More, radar servers and displays are the quickest of any of the apps I have used. The AppleWatch options are likewise complete. Within a half hour Weather Mate Pro took the place of my preferred app on both phone and watch. Easily worth triple the price. I would pay similarly for a desktop version..Version: 7.6.1

Most Complete Weather AppAs a fruit grower and IPM Specialist, I depend on a complete and accurate weather app to make critical pest management decisions. I used WU Storm which gave me everything I needed including animated Surface Air and Jet Stream movements. And we all know what happened to Storm. The Weather Channel decided to can an excellent app for their very inferior Storm Radar. After weeks of searching, I found WeatherMate. The only thing it was missing was storm tracks and animated Surface Air/Jet Stream and they have since added the storm tracks with severity and hail info. This is critical to fruit growing. As far as accuracy, I get the most accurate data available for my location.... From my own weather station in the orchard. And can check three other stations within a 5 mile radius to make sure my calibrations are consistent. This is the best app going right now.......and will be the absolute best out there once Air Stream animations are added!.Version: 7.4.2

Awesome App, awesome developersThis is a terrific app that is very flexible and customizable. I highly recommend it. I’ve been using it several years now and it has consistently given me the detailed timely information I need. While it can present you with tons of data, it is also great for more casual users. Clean solid and intuitive interface and lots of thoughtful well executed features. The developers are also really pleasant and responsive. I reached out to them a while ago because of a glitch with the radar overlay layers. They got back to me right away and had already been working on the fix. They gave me an easy work around to use until they completed their fix. Also had to reach out to them about a setting I was having trouble with, (totally user error) and they were super pleasant and guided me to the setting. You’ll be pleased if you get the app and it’ll probably be on your home page in no time!.Version: 6.0

Love this app.I love this app because I can see the temperature around my neighborhood. This has confirmed what I have always known because I am a gardener. I am in a cool pocket. I have learned so much about my weather by reading all the info they have. I upgraded to the pro version & it’s lovely without the ads. The app works great. Everything opens & closes as it should every time. And it’s obvious. I like the the option of checking my family’s weather so I know what’s going on. All far flung from each other. I haven’t noticed or tried to find anything additional about the pro version, just the removal of ads, which is very important if you are housing it on your cell phone. On my iPad it’s beautiful. Support is quick & helpful. I have been using this app for a few months and I haven’t changed my opinion, if anything I love it more. Get it, upgrade, you’ll be glad you did..Version: 7.4.2

The best weather app I’ve found so farThe best weather app I’ve found so far. I was using the Storm app until it recently got run into the ground by a certain weather company. This app is very customizable, giving you the option to select weather parameters (temp, heat index, wind chill, rain amount, pressure, cloud cover and a whole lot more) for current conditions, hourly forecast and even the Notification Center widget. I also like the fact that you can choose weather stations at airports. The weather history and travel planner is a cool idea too, although I wish you could pick/search locations for these instead of having to use a weather station (as it is now I have to add a new location to get that location’s weather history or use the travel planner for that location). You can also change the name of your locations. I would highly recommend this app as anyone’s go to weather app..Version: 5.4.3

Exactly what I wanted.I have spent so much money on related apps. Living in FL the weather can change by the hour. I purchased this on a perfectly sunny day after looking across the water towards my home inland and noticing the dark skies. I know that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s storming where I live EXACTLY so I started looking for a NEW RELIABLE APP. I decided to go ahead and purchase the pro version. What sold me was the fact it used the actual NOAA RADAR and the radar I could scroll minute by minute using my finger instead of having to use a “pause/play” feature. I literally can narrow it down to the minute it’s going to start raining or any crazy weather is possible! So far I’ve tracked winds for fishing and even Hurricane Michael and the wind speed! It’s been amazing! I have deleted all other weather apps. My only complaint is I don’t have the loud default alerts for serious weather. Once I activated this app it pretty much cancelled all other default weather notifications for my iPhone..Version: 6.2

Best app to replace now useless StormStorm from Weather Underground used to be my go to weather app until a few years ago it was taken over by IBM and then later sold to the Weather Channel. The quality and usefulness of the app gradually deteriorated. Then in it’s corporate wisdom The Weather Channel decided to start charging a user fee for content that was once free. Adding insult to injury, when they pushed out their “new” app a couple of years ago, they disabled the old app so it was no longer functional. That’s when my search for a replacement app began. In the user comments for the Storm app the user suggested Weather Mate. I made the switch and haven’t looked back. During the use of Weather Mate I’ve occasionally noticed some glitches and reported it. The Support staff has been quick to respond and generally within a day or two a new release is posted with the glitch solved. Thank You Tech Support!!!.Version: 7.4.9

First rate weather appThis is my go-to weather app. It provides comprehensive information in an easy to use format. I especially like the radar map with the distance rings around my location. Also helpful is the ability to select the monitoring station that provides the app’s data. The station I picked is close to me and I get very accurate information. There are two things on my wish list: 1. It would be great if lightning could be added to the Weather Parameters list. It could be displayed like the visibility, in miles. The distance would be the range to the nearest recent lightning. 2. The iPhone app would be even more useful if it had the ability to display the radar map in both landscape and portrait formats. That would make it easy to track a storm moving in any direction. This is definitely a five-star app!.Version: 7.5.9

Near perfect appThis weather app is really nice. It delivers forecast data in an easy to read style. The models it uses seem to agree frequently with a weather underground, which is good. However, there is a bit more data presented. Where the app shines is the map section. This app gives the option to see position of highs, lows, fronts and the like. The only thing missing is a dry line. All in all, it’s a great weather app. UPDATE: I’ve used app several months, and found no problems. It has replaced Storm as my preferred app. Second Update: still satisfied. I really like to be able to see the winds at various levels. Only change I’d make is showing highs and lows more prominently on map, showing the dry line. If they want 6 stars, add things like water vapor imagery and the like. It would also be great if the fronts, etc moved with the radar. Actually, no matter how much they add, I’d ask for more!.Version: 7.2.1

Excellent source of weather dataYour maps and the details on weather facts are the besavailable to me because I can easily find the oncoming weather systems wether it is rain, snow, wind or whatever. The maps are better than any other weather app map available. I lo it as it is available. I like the daily summaries for the week ahead. I am able to look ahead as well as history. I use it daily. Thanks This is the best weather app of all I have used. It is easy to use and I can read it easily despite AMD. The map is easy to understand and estimate the arrival of weather. I love the hourly forecast. Thank you for all the wonderful data. Well I still think you are super with about all aspects of the weather station. I ditto all the above.! I still feel very positive about this app. Keep up Yuen’s details you provide in such a simple , useful, clear format..Version: 7.4.1

MathematicianFive star fantastic. Best in one weather that I have seen. Temperatures are weather stations Which solved the confusion in mountain regions where the temperature varies by altitude and location, from ridge tops to valleys. Not one weather app solved this dilemma. This app gives temperature in my area within a high degree of accuracy. Thus I can easily see why 2 miles away the temperature is not a true report to my location. I have several thermometers at the house since I never had an app that gave me any information. For example: Ten miles away the temperature might say -4 degrees Fahrenheit, where at my house it's 25 degrees Fahrenheit. This is no exaggeration!!! Now I have an app that shows temp at the nearby airport and the temperature near my house. Four years buying apps and oh my goodness comes this one. Thank you for the research and programming..Version: 7.5.5

Changes for the betterI purchased this app to replace WU Storm that just went by the wayside. After my purchase, the app crashed, radar didn’t work, etc. I notified the developers and deleted the app. I was informed that changes were being made, and to my surprise, all of the issues were corrected. The Storm app was the best weather app I’ve ever used, and this is the closest thing to it. This app would actually be better than the Storm app but for two things: 1. Some sort of radar view on the home screen or the ability to set the radar view as the default. 2. The ability to “quick pick” map layers in a mini toolbar on the map screen like storm track, watches/warnings, etc. I live in Tornado Alley and having the ability to quickly view different views on the radar is very beneficial. But those two things are just “wish list” items..Version: 7.1

Excellent Weather AppLike many, I have been bemoaning the loss of the excellent Storm weather app. Having tried at least ten other weather apps trying to find a good replacement, I had about given up. I finally tried Weather Mate and am pleased to say that it is an excellent app, and comes the closest to being as good as Storm. Weather Mate Pro gives you the basics at a quick glance, but also provides more detailed information for those needing it, as well as for weather enthusiasts. Bottom line: If you have been looking for a Storm replacement, or just a good, all around weather app, you can't go wrong with Weather Mate. I am quite pleased with the app as is, but would eventually like to see more stations added to the NOAA radio, more alert notification selections, and the ability to pick multiple alert overlays rather than just one or all..Version: 7.0

Most accurate & beautiful weather appThere was a storm recently in my area. I had three weather apps on my phone(2 free and 1 paid), all of which predicted 5-8 inches of snow, followed by sleet and freezing rain. A friend of mine told me prior to the storm that we are only getting ice and not snow. I argued that my weather apps were showing snow and he said he trusted his source. As it turned out, he was correct, so I asked what his source was and he told me about Weather Mate. He showed me the app and it’s features and I immediately downloaded it. What a beautifully designed app, which has so many more features and customizable options that none of the other weather apps had. I admit that I’m a bit infatuated with monitoring the weather and this app is perfect. This is probably the wisest $5 purchase I’ve ever made..Version: 7.5.91

The developers really careThe developers of this app have poured their hearts into it, and it shows. It’s full of virtually everything any weather hound could want, with multiple user options on what to display. The graphics could use some more design work, but apparently these very responsive developers are already hard at work on that too. Kudos! I like the text descriptions of the day’s weather, summarizing all the numbers. Also cool to see the current temperature displayed right on the home page icon. Clever! Maybe someday the icon itself will change to picture the current weather, though I imagine Apple may not allow that. Some quirks still to be worked out: displaying negative numbers for the temperature (common for Celsius) and textual wind speed in knots. Yet the wind speed and direction compass is excellent, even showing the wind direction moving slightly to indicate that wind is never steady. (I’m a sailor so I’m intimately familiar with this.) Evidently the developers are also planning to make the clock smaller (we all have many other sources of the time), which should allow some of the more weather-related displays to enlarge. One suggestion to the developers: don’t worry about adding more features for now, at least before the display is revised. This app has plenty!.Version: 5.4

Best Weather AppI've tried a number of different weather apps and Weather Mate Pro is by far the best. Lots of useful data, including hourly and predictive radar. No ads or glitzy, pointless graphics using valuable screen space. (If I were building the app, I would make the clock a little smaller as I’m looking for the weather, not the time, when I open it.) I transitioned from Storm after they discontinued their ad-free subscription option and much prefer Weather Mate Pro anyway. The support team is top notch with quick responses to issues. FEATURE REQUEST: A quick way to see the weather in a particular location without going to settings and adding it to the list of cities, only to immediately delete that location after viewing the desired information..Version: 7.7.9

Great weather app!2nd rating July 2020. Still 5 stars and worth the price which is very reasonable. I have 6 different weather apps and this is the one I always check first!!!! This weather app has so much content and is very easy to use and to access the content on it. The user interface is intuitive rather than technical and it’s not difficult to figure out. Absolutely worth the few dollars it costs. Knowing the different elements of weather is very important to me. I get migraines and many of them are triggered by changes in weather, especially the change in barometric pressure. There are several different ways to check the pressure, humidity, dew point, and air currents. It also shows where the boundaries of high and low pressure areas are located. If weather is important to you for any reason then you need this app!.Version: 7.4.4

Was hoping that Weather Mate would fix some of its issues. AND THEY DID!After an exhausting search over a year ago to replace Storm, I decided to go with Weather Mate. There were Holes in its features. But those seem to have now been fixed! Noticeably for me was the lack of a jet/wind stream indicator. Once that was added, it somehow conflicted with the satellite imagery and it took several months to resolve that. Now both operate together on this platform well. My most recently discovered feature that I will be using frequently is the smokecover indicator located within the active fire feature. For most of us in the Western US, this may prove to be a very valuable tool during the Summer months. I don’t think any app is perfect, and would give WM a 4.5 if offered. But given it’s not, this is as close to perfect as any weather app I’ve found! 5 stars..Version: 7.1

You will not be disappointed with the pro versionThis continues to be one of the best weather apps with the most comprehensive array of weather data that you can find. As if the barrage of information it provides wasn’t enough, the customization options for the Apple Watch are truly what set this app apart from it’s competitors. Lastly, these are some of the most responsive developers that I have dealt with on ANY app. Dealing with a bug? Send them an email. Have ideas for a new feature? Write a review, and chances are that they’ll eventually implement it into their app. Although I will admit, their are still some features that the community has been asking for that have yet to be implemented, I feel like that’s more due to reasons beyond the developer’s control. Regardless, this is one of the most complete weather apps you’ll find, and you should definitely spring for the pro version..Version: 7.4.4

Best app to replace Storm!Weather Underground’s Storm app has been my favorite weather app for years, but unfortunately it was taken over by TWC and they shut it down. Their new “TWC Storm” app is awful and does not have the weather data and map layers I desire, so I set out in search of a new weather app. You could say I’m a bit picky about my weather app. There are tons of apps out there and I downloaded them all to try out, but none of the others have what Weather Mate offers. I love: -The hybrid map setting. -The dual/overlapping satellite and radar layer. -The flexibility to adjust layers: I usually always have the sat/radar layer, storm tracks, weather fronts, lightning, and hurricane layers on since we live in FL. -The ability to adjust the weather parameters/data I see in the current and hourly forecasts (this has more data than the Storm app!). -The intuitiveness of the layout, such as daily to hourly forecasts. -The customer service. I have had a couple email exchanges with them and have received fast responses back. I believe a good weather app should provide you with all the data you could ever want, but allow you to configure it to suit your needs in an intuitive manner with a clean look. This app does that! (I liked the app so much I decided to buy the ad free version.).Version: 5.4.2

Best Apple Watch AppI recently bought and installed an Ambient Weather Station on my roof. With the weather station on my roof, I can have instant access to temperature, wind direction and speed, humidity, relative pressure and rainfall. The apps for my iPhone are very good but this Weather Mate app is outrageous. There are 3 screens that give all the parameters from my station and it constructs detailed forecasts that I can lookup on my wrist. You can even zero in on the weather at specific hours. I first downloaded the free version and within 5 minutes I bought the pro version because I realized this is the promised land of Apple Watch Apps. All you app developers out there, check this app to see how our expensive watches can perform to the max. Excellent job Weather Mate... You have developed an app that is leaps ahead of anything I've seen made for the Apple Watch..Version: 7.2.1

A Weather App that actually Works!Since the Weather Channel has ruined apps that used to work, this is my go to wx app. The fronts are actually displayed correctly! I use it every day. Highly recommend! Update: Still my favorite. Does everything that I need it to do. Update #2: latest update changed how thunderstorm cells are displayed. The icons are bigger but cover the raw radar information so much that I had to turn storm tracks off. Also, tapping on a thunder storm cell displays information about the cell, but too much! There needs to be an option to toggle off the laundry list of generally useless details. Storm tops (the most useful information about a thunderstorm’s severity) are displayed now in meters versus feet. Aviation users in the US still use feet and that would be preferred or make it a toggled option. Just friendly input!.Version: 7.2

Western Slope ColoradoWith the death of wunderground, and whatever Storm was called before it was trashed, many of us thought it was going to be near impossible to find those kinds of sites again. I’m an advanced amateur, ex sailor and know my way around most of the charts and maps made available by USWS and noaa and do my own forecasts for myself here in western Colorado/eastern Utah and for a few friends on the west coast just to see how close I can get. Anyway, there’s lots here and after a few times around the site and all its layers etc, it’s become a worthy replacement for the Old Wunderground. The only issue that stops me from the Top Rating is that the frontal boundaries do not move with visual/radar images. Since the “active” screen is “Past” by some 45-70 seconds it would be nice to see the frontal boundaries keep up with the radar/satellite imagery. Still, it’s great site, with good support. Well done..Version: 7.4.8

Crazy ugly, very usefulThe iPhone UI of this app is really dated and ugly. However the apple watch version is so good it's worth the price..Version: 7.5.9

AccuracyYour app is very good but an improvement could be made in the timeliness of your Environment Canada Weather Statements/Warnings etc..Version: 7.0

MeteoPerfect, easy scan. A lot better then some Satisfied..Version: 7.8.5

Awesome appI love using this map to see where the frontal boundaries are located. This feature, however, has been missing for the past week or so..Version: 7.4.8

Changed what I paid forI bought this app for the specific feature of a written description that included snow accumulations. After a couple of weeks, the app changed and the feature disappeared. I feel ripped off. Even if only a buck..Version: 7.0

ÉtonnantJ’aime beaucoup Weather Mate. Très bien fait et précision..Version: 7.8.4

V7.4.9 restore the high/low frontsHappy to see again the meteorological fronts with this last update.. hope one day the temperature colors layer will match with the reference international.. very useful application!!.Version: 7.8.4

Greet weather app and complication EXCEPTI have changed my rating from 5* to 4*. As I originally wrote - Love both the app and the complication for modular watch face. It is easy to read and pretty accurate. NOW, I no longer get any type of notifications on my iPhone 14 Locked Screen or Notification Centre. I have 2 other apps and I receive these types of notifications..Version: 7.8.4

Great AppI enjoy all information provided for any weather forecast required for daily or long range.. Excellent radar map.. Easy to use & accurate.. Best weather app I have ever had.. So much information & accuracy.. Still working great...Version: 7.8.3

Great!Just had a few days so far but very pleased with it so far. Great information and the radar map is very good also..Version: 7.8.3

The bestWeather Mate has been my “go to” weather forecast for years. As a career roofer I needed a forecast I could count on every time.....right down to the hour. Easy to use, detailed and accurate. Everything you need in a forecast..Version: 7.8.3

Short blend 2024I like this weather app. When will the next big update be on the Apple Watch. On the modular watch face it doesn’t show the weather icon and the location on the Modular watch face. Also on the Infograph watch face it also doesn’t show the location on the actual watch face. And also on the Lock Screen when will you update that into stand by mode on the iPhone 14.Version: 7.8.3

Best app for weather nerds! For years I wanted to see past weather data and couldn’t find it anywhere. It has tonnes of other features but that’s what I was dying for. Some saint recommended this on Reddit and it’s perfect. Love love love. Highly recommend..Version: 7.8.2

Great weather app!I’ve tried a lot of weather apps both free and paid for. This is the one I’m sticking with. Beautifully laid out and very easy to use. Love the temperature badge on the Home Screen..Version: 7.8.1

AccurateConcise, accurate, easy to understand and read..Version: 7.7.9

Widgets now working ☺️Thanks for the recent fix! Widgets work well on my IPhone SE 2, IOS 17.1.1. Thanks for your hard work. 👏🏻.Version: 7.7.9

Great appExcellent weather resource. Current conditions are very accurate and future general forecasts are also very good. Next day wind prediction is also a bonus. Didn’t give five stars only because the font was a little small and there does not appear to be a font enlarging tool. Great app overall and highly recommended..Version: 7.7.9

Great Weather App Loaded with InfoI’ve tried a lot of Weather Apps and this one is by far my favourite. It is overflowing with data .. so much so it it takes a while to find it all. I don’t agree the interface is ugly. I find it is beautifully rendered and very logically laid out..Version: 7.7.8

Awesome for the Apple WatchThis is one of the few apps that you can pay once and enjoy “feels-like” temp on the Apple Watch. Yes the iPhone app looks a bit outdated but the forecasts are precise. For me it is really worth it and love it not being a subscription..Version: 7.7.7

Version: 7.7.6

GreatSo far very impressed, seems to be very accurate for local and international weather. The best weather app by far..Version: 7.7.5

Still the bestLayout, accuracy, easy of use,.Version: 7.7.5

Paid but BestThis app is worth every cent! Radar map, wind direction, connections to local weather monitoring and the list goes on. I learned of this from my neighbour, saw him using it and buff said!.Version: 7.6.1

New Subscription ModelCurrent version introduces subscription pricing. Nothing wrong with that but it would seem to introduce a contractual obligation to provide subscribers with a good sense of what other upgrades can be expected and what subscription charges will be assigned to those..Version: 7.7

Mostly quite accurateI enjoy the app with lots of info easy to get to. The only real disappointment is the complication for my watch. Even though it has loads of relevant information it doesn’t refresh on its own, even after checking and rechecking the settings..Version: 7.6.1

JamesGood app. Works great. It’s awesome!!.Version: 7.6.1

Well Presented and AccurateHas become our "go to" App for weather info..Version: 7.6.1

Good map, lots of featuresThe only reason it doesn’t get five stars is that it does not show the jetstream. The other small complaint is that I can’t find the legend for the map. Above was written earlier. Weather Mate’s customer support clarified both issues. Very good..Version: 7.5.5

Best weather appThis is the best weather app bar none! It has all features you need and works flawlessly.Version: 7.5.5
