HEAR WHAT NEIGHBORS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT NEXTDOOR

“Nextdoor is an amazing app. It connects you to your immediate community. I had a lost pet and it immediately was met with concern and suggestions and support. Besides that it’s just a positive thing for communication and interaction. I’m so glad I downloaded the Nextdoor app!!!!” - App review

“Fantastic platform for meeting neighbors, finding out local news or finding recommendations for local businesses! The ability to interact with the neighbors and being involved in the community is priceless! Highly recommend!” - App review

“I really enjoy using the Nextdoor app because it helps me stay in the know and know what’s going on in my area. Also it’s a great way to help others locally” - App review

“Before Nextdoor, I didn’t know there were several qualified babysitters living nearby and looking for work. It was easy to feel comfortable hiring my neighbor’s daughter to watch my son after school.” - App review

“This year for Spring Cleaning, we wanted to sell old appliances, tools, clothing and electronics on Nextdoor. In no time, our neighbors stopped by to make a deal and take things off our hands. It was easier than anything else, and it feels good knowing our old stuff has found a new home in the neighborhood.” - App review

OUR MISSION

To make every neighborhood feel like home.

Our mission is to make every neighborhood feel like home. We do this by connecting neighbors to the local gems around them – people, places, and information. These local connections improve our lives by fostering a sense of community and belonging no matter where we live.

YOUR PRIVACY

Nextdoor is a trusted environment where neighbors are verified. Share online the kinds of things you’d share with your neighbors in person.

We require:
• Every neighbor’s address to place them in the right neighborhood
• All members go by their real names, just like in person

Continued use of Location Services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Nextdoor doesn't run Location Services in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require it.

Nextdoor Family

I want to thank this incredible platform; it not only keeps our community together on different topics, but also gives us the opportunity to make ourselves visible by offering our services. This app gave me the opportunity to work for myself again, being visible in different neighborhoods in Miami. Building a client portfolio takes time and dedication and Nextdoor gave me the opportunity to be seen by thousands of families at the same time. I started using it when that pandemic 😷 that paralyzed the entire world. I quit my job as Chief Engineer for 4 buildings in North Miami, so I went all in and won 💪. In 2008 when Real Estate fell, I was working independently as a Handyman and I was doing well, but that economic disaster in 2008 made me have to be a Chief Engineer for hotels and then those four buildings. I had already given up on going back to work for myself, but I found Nextdoor and I decided to leave everything and go back to work for myself and Nextdoor gave me my life back. Today, 4 years later, I can say that I feel very proud of all the effort I put into each job and for being recognized by my clients, highlighted in the more than 530 reviews from neighbors on my profile. Something incredible and very difficult to achieve 530 reviews; More than any other contractor in all of Miami? in 4 years working with Nextdoor, and this is why I love ❤️ this platform. Thank you, thank you 🙏 and a thousand more thanks, for giving me back my work freedom.

Best app, best social media, best local news, best shopping

The number of app reviews I’ve done—EVER—I could count on one hand, even if I were missing a thumb. This app is increasingly my best of everything place. Throw in weather and traffic, and I’m set. World news and politics I can get elsewhere, and I do. But for knowing everything I never knew I WANTED to know about my own and surrounding neighborhoods, this is the best I’ve found. Get to know your neighbors, get referrals for area businesses, get all kinds of scoop on what happens at your kids’ schools that your kids never tell you. You can even learn about all the pets around you and to whom they belong, even including “community pets,” you know, like the feral cats whom half a dozen of your neighbors are feeding. Know about crime happening anywhere around you, even before you’ll find it in the police reports. It’s so much I can’t even think of everything. Everything you need to know about your community AND MORE is right here. It’s always in the present, varied opinions without name calling or mudslinging. Neighbors working together to solve issues before they become problems. My favorite thing of all? Shopping! You’ll be astounded at how much stuff your neighbors want to rid themselves of, often giving things away free or next to free. Not trash or junk, really quality thing, often barely used. Sometimes you can even trade merchandise if it works out for both. It’s just amazing! I’ve been so pleasantly surprised at how much this app has served me

Helping each other out like neighbors use to do

So far I like this app I like how people are advertising for their businesses and I’ve seen a few people post about other people’s products and if you were looking for something specific you could look at it in a different store. It’s got that neighborhood watch feel cause I’ve already seen one person post about a package that didn’t look like it belonged at the house in the picture that was taken by the delivery company putting a claim to a house but giving it the proper attention I’ve always been taught that if it doesn’t match then it’s not the right one. It’s nice to have an app you can go to when there are so many and you can look for someone to clean your house and some who just is there to help make sure that you’re day is going well for the day and that if not they might have a site for you to go look at for a smile to help you for that brief moment or you can just count on that one person in your neighborhood to watch out for your packages and just the people in your neighborhood and you never knew that they were there doing that kind of stuff but since you have joined this app that’s all it took. It’s a wonderful thing that you can do one small thing and you can get big rewards that were there the only thing you need to do was just press a button on your phone

Life would be boring without Nextdoor! A must have for everyone!

Being a 5th generation San Franciscan is rare, and let me tell you that having Nextdoor in my life makes it better! I’m informed! You should get informed too! Did you just move? New Town, state? Life changes? Kids, pets, (not to be a bummer but...) divorce, death... crime in your neighborhood? Well look no further, hours and hours of endless information is at your fingertips. Nextdoor can and will be your friend & more.... lol. I absolutely love and invite anyone who’s not already on here, here. It’s been a great source for finding new work opportunities that you might think twice if it was on Craigslist, because you have no idea who the people really are. If your on Nextdoor, you have been verified as a true resident of your neighborhood. I’ve scored and got rid of great furniture and sold my art and photography. Got amazing new clients for swim lessons, art work and activities, babysitting gigs, tons of pet sitting and dog walking. There is also the crime and actual serious situation talk that is very important to know about regardless how close it might have been to your own place. Being AWARE of what’s happening out there is MUCHO important! Be safe everyone! They have added activities and interests in the last year which is also really fun and a great way to meet new peeps. If I could give NEXTDOOR 10 stars I would. I could go on and on. I would love to work there. I don’t have the time right now to get more info how wonderful it is.

Must have App for anyone!

The idea and the app are both wonderful. And Free! Several years ago I reluctantly opened an account as I work in IT and see scam sites people fall victim to all the time. I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised after downloading a few weeks of fine tuning what alerts I wanted and which neighbors i want contacted if there is an emergency at my house and who to notify if my hound dog “Sophia” should wanter off! That feature alone is worth a million bucks! Did I mention Nextdoor is FREE?! If someone left the gate open and my Sophie should wander off, in seconds I can alert everyone in my immed area that she’s out and before she could round the block I started getting calls and ultimately a neighbor I had never even met collected her and called me. The Nextdoor app is amazing and keeps our family (K9 included) safe and informed. If you want to sell or just get rid of something at your house, (like and couch, books or even a pile of dirt) just snap a pic and type what it is and usually within 1 -3 hours, it’s gone! If you need professional services with so many choices out there you don’t wanna get ripped off, but have no idea who to call, put a post asking about the service and you get almost instant feedback on who to and very importantly WHO NOT to use and why. Your neighbors make great information resources! I’ve told countless friends and colleagues about the site. To date I’ve only ever heard positive feedback about Nextdoor! Thank you guys for the amazing app! OH... and did I mention for Giving it to us for FREE?!?!?

Nextdoor review

I enjoy Nextdoor & I’m giving a semi good review for NOW but it’s very upsetting that they seem to have moderators that are anti conservative. As a libertarian, I take great offense to that! I’ve complained many times & the verdict is still out. Nextdoor is playing a very dangerous game by allowing slanderous and dangerous information on their main thread. Nextdoor is supposed to be about finding lost animals, finding great local events, restaurants or shopping to our neighbors. It’s supposed to be helpful and uplifting. Nextdoor needs to be very careful because they never know who’s reading what and what connections and relationships they have. The rules should apply to all sides politically. Political discussions should not be allowed but Nextdoor seems to only allow the liberal ones to remain on the main thread! I’ve volunteered to be a moderator because I’d be fair and do for free but to no avail. I’ve heard they’re changing their reporting process for getting posts removed but right now there’s dangerous information on the North Carolina thread for the RTP area and although I’ve escalated and reported, the comments have not been removed. Update: changed my rating to 5 stars and one of the most dangerous comment has been removed but the others remain. I’m gonna keep policing this until they’re fair to everyone!

Review of Next Door Neighbor

The opportunity to share viewpoints with people near me who have things and experience that I haven’t had; and give them some if mine IS A PRIVILEGE unmatched in almost 80 years of life, 50 of which are the educated implementation of Public Health Nursing facts. The thing that I like best is the room given by people who I don’t know who read my lengthy sharing and viewpoints. We evolve by this, embracing new and old information that has the desired result of making this planet better for everyone. Even when we disagree with a post, it is a seed that can grow in your mind and eventually brings forth new understanding! That has been the motivating factor in my 35 years of presenting childbirth education classes. Even when 2 couples got up and left the classroom when I told the class that the only result from spanking children, is that they learn to strike others, and that they have to hide inclinations that brought that brutality onto their bodies. The continuance of that contradiction of love has brought more violence into all our lives; and opportunities to enlighten others about it. I know those 4 people heard & understood that and the nugget of information that I gave them will continue to grow for them! Look at how many teachers there are working in schools with children now, because the want to emulate a very good teacher they had - or erase what damage some misguided teacher caused for them! I’ve dedicated my vocation as a nurse to Florence Nightingale, who would not have had the opportunities given her, if war & disease hadn’t existed during her time!

Options on the app

I love this app for so many reasons. I like knowing about car break ins, and things to be aware of for safety of my children at specific times in the day when people mention strange people in the neighborhood. I love responses I get about experienced neighbors have had with specific out patient care like doctors, dentists, and other providers in the area. This app is great for new comers and very welcoming. We learn about good restaurants, outdoor activities, and good vendors etc. The reason I gave this a low rating is because I would live the option to hide specific posts about animals on the lose, or families looking for their animals, and everyone letting each other know when their animals came home or when/where they were located. There have been SO many posts that I wish that there could be a separate option within this app to view the “animals on the loose” posts. It would streamline pertinent information for those individuals who are looking for their animals, and if one was wandering ppl can post in this specific area and allow non-animal owners, or those of us who aren’t seeing lost animals, to streamline the information on the page.

Neighborhood App ( Review )

Hi my name is Kamryn, I have just started using this app today on August 24, 2022. Might I add whilst said I have only just downloaded the app this evening and within half an hour I have already received notifications from different people needing help with work in their yard. I know this app is just a fun nice way to branch out and find what kind of groups you’d like to be a part of which is hard considering the app has over thousands of different groups for you to pick through. Maybe you want to volunteer to help over at the Shreveport Veterans Home Center, or something as simple as watching your neighbors dog for the weekend whilst they are out of town having the time of their lives knowing their pet is safely being taken care of in the comfort of their home and with the most trustable neighbor they could find too. Don’t take my word or anyone else’s about this app, not until you download it and try it out for yourself. Who knows maybe you could make some cash helping others, or even make friends along the way. The choice is yours, but just remember with the Neighborhood App you will always have a neighbor nearby when in need of assistance!

Not the best, but not the worst

I downloaded this app on recommendation after losing my Animal. I have been posting her on every app and every site that I possibly can as well as going back to where I lost her every single day multiple times a day to find her. Apparently this app has a problem with posting about your Animal multiple times. I’ve had multiple violations against me for posting about my animal more than once, and I have also had violations against me for reposting someone else’s lost animal post. As well as that, there are so many ads on this app that it is hard to find the important posts of people who actually need help. Lastly, this app is so worried about removing posts about missing animals and reposts about missing animals but has not a care in the world about the nasty and hateful things people say on it. all of that being said, there have been a few kind people who have reached out and helped me through this app. I still have not found my Animal, however, I do know at least that the kind people on there who are sharing my post and looking out for her. It is very upsetting to have these kind of complications while you are going through something already such as losing your Animal.

Please add the ability to turn off notifications to the mobile app

...I get bombarded with emails and would love to be able to turn off notifications for posts, rather than hide the post from my feed, forevermore. It’s an option on the site, but not an option for the mobile app. Other than that, the app is very useful as a source of information, especially for recommendations for services and alerts. People can get into petty arguments, but you can simply hide/dismiss those posts from your feed. Editing in response to developer response: I have notifications (as in, in the Notifications Center) turned off for almost all of my mobile apps, including NextDoor, as I don’t want to be bombarded by my apps (and absolutely can’t have that happening while at work). The only notifications I therefore receive from NextDoor are emails. I'm talking about notifications for individual posts, separate from the Notifications Center of my iPhone, and separate from the overall notification settings within the app. I’m talking about what a user sees when they click on the little down arrow on the right side of a post, next to the poster’s name. When accessing NextDoor from my computer (going to the NextDoor site), I can turn off notifications for individual posts this way, which means I will no longer receive emails for that post. That isn’t an option, as far as I can tell, on the mobile app. When clicking on a post through the mobile app, ‘turn off notifications’ is not an option in the menu that pops up when you click on that down arrow symbol of a post. If there’s a way to do this, that would be great; please advise. If not, it would be great if that option appeared for the mobile app just as it does on the NextDoor site, on the individual posts.

Involved With My Community

I am a college student and have lived in my neighborhood for my whole life but I never really knew my neighborhood or thought of it as a support system. When I downloaded Nextdoor, my intention was 100% to get involved with my community. I wasn’t at all sure how. My thoughts were maybe next time there’s a block party, I’ll know about it and go. Nextdoor was not at all what I expected. I MEAN THIS IN A GOOD WAY. I figured no one used the app but turns out almost everyone does. I found out about a volunteer opportunity that I took full advantage of. I am now 6 months later still going 3x a week to volunteer with a local cat rescue program. I gave lemons away to a wonderful woman who I ended up chatting to for almost an hour and had a great time. I got a tutoring job with a neighbor and turned out it was my brother’s friend’s younger sister. How funny! I started joining in on discussions and have made a meaningful impact in several of my neighbors’ lives. I never thought that I could make an impact beyond people I already knew, but Nextdoor changed that. I am so involved with my community now and I love being that way. I feel important. I know that I can make a difference in my community. I’m meeting people who have lived down the street from me for 20 years that I never met before and becoming friends with them. This app is so important. 4 Stars: I docked Nextdoor 1 star because it doesn’t utilize some of its extra features well (real estate, businesses, selling used goods, etc) and because (not the app developers fault) but some people are a little too comfortable speaking their minds and say inappropriate things in discussions. Definitely should be an 18+ app.

Nextdoor: Neighborhood Network Negative Reviews and Ratings

Feet settings and ads

At first I really liked Nextdoor, but as I began to use it I realized that it’s actually not very user-friendly. even when you go to settings and you adjust your feed as to how you want it to be you cannot get the post in time order. I would prefer to have mine be that those posts most recent be on top because that is more relevant for me, but when you click that as your setting choice for feeds, you could get some thing that was posted an hour ago or you could get some thing that was a week ago right next to each other. they’re not in chronological order. Overtime I have found this to be very frustrating. I can’t understand whyThis isn’t more accurate. In addition to that there seems to be way too many ads almost in between every post it makes it very difficult to follow and read the posts there’s no indicator that lets you know that you’re looking at a post or an ad can be overwhelmingly frustrating for consumers. because of that it makes it difficult for me to feel that I have choice as to what I’m reading is either read it all or not. Between these two issues, The negativity of some of the posts and people, i’m really beginning to wonder if this is an app I even want to keep. To top it all off, I went to the website, and on my app and I tried to reach out to the company to request changes or to give feedback just to them. it was more difficult than it needed to be, so I wrote a review instead. There needs to be more choice on settings for the feeds and the settings need to actually work.

Frustrating

I can see how this is great for cities but not so much rural. I started a business page and got it verified as I was told it’s a great source for small business (by somebody who lives in a city). I quickly discovered as a business page I can not view anything other than my page or my posts, I can’t see trends in the area. It would be fine if I wasn’t allowed to comment to avoid me bypassing advertising but I can’t do anything but read my own posts. So I do what anybody would do, I start a personal none business account to join the community. That failed when I was told my neighborhood doesn’t exist (using the same address as my business of which was not informed of this). Now my personal account won’t let me change addresses to look for nearby neighborhoods until I create one for my area. And where that’s kinda whatever what makes me mad is that Nextdoor wanted me to pay 5$ a day to advertise my business in my area when my neighborhood doesn’t exist and as a business I can’t even see (not allowed to see) who, if anybody, is gonna see those ads. Y’all just ship out an arbitrary possible view count per month based on how much you pay. You need to give businesses more data cause thankfully I didn’t pay for the advertising in a none existent area. As a side note, local neighborhoods should be viewable for those moving or starting the app for the first time. Cause some people (like myself) would like to know if my area is active or if I need to address myself in the city area to be accessible with the local community.

Buggy, SLOOOOW, and where is everything??!

Nextdoor has become increasingly slower and buggier, and options that were easy to find before are now hidden and take several clicks to locate. You can swipe and swipe and swipe before the screen will actually scroll. Clicking on a post or image? Hurry up and wait, and half the time now the whole app freezes up. Even typing a comment is a monumental effort … I’ll have the entire sentence typed before it shows up on my screen. Then there’s the censors and moderation. I’m a neighborhood lead and have been for several years. I petitioned hard to become one. But then Nextdoor decided to dump a bunch of random people in as moderators. Many have absolutely NO idea what the rules regarding content even are! They’ll flag one word comments like, “Really?” as public humiliation. Because it was directed toward them or their pal. *true story* It’s frustrating to those of us who originally were tasked with this responsibility. Nextdoor’s auto-censor algorithms are utterly ridiculous too … flagging words like “stupid” or “jerk” and reminding us to be “nice.” 😐 Nextdoor: you have an awesome thing going here, great idea overall and content, but PLEASE bring back the earlier format! Speed things up, minimize the constant barrage of irrelevant ads, and go back to neighborhood leads only instead of all this random crap. I don’t expect a response to this review … Nextdoor isn’t real keen on that sort of thing either unfortunately.

Toxic

When it works it’s great but since June I keep getting my posts taken down and my account suspended three times and my back up account was indefinitely removed a few days after making it for no reason. Prior to June it never happened and it’s every time I post. This app is toxic because I’m not even doing anything but posting about my moms and I work in cat rescue. I don’t think they picked wisely in who moderates in my neighborhood and I’ve gone through the contact us portal so that I could reach a staff and not a moderator and they weren’t helpful all they did was say my name is Jeffrey I’m a supervisor and copy and paste the guidelines (which I didn’t actually break) and tell me to appeal the decision which I already did that’s why I went through the contact portal because the moderators are honestly out to get me. This was a generic response not a person actually looking into my account or thinking logically. This is getting frustrating as this is the only app that has worked in successfully getting our story out there about rescuing and fostering. A few days ago when I posted in need of help, there was a sense of community amongst those that were helping me and reaching out to me and it’s just been taken away because of whoever moderates and their bias. And I know that it’s the people in my neighborhood and their bias because I’ve spoken to other people who use the app in other cities and they’ve never had any problems and they post the same kind of content that I do. I’m disappointed and I wish they handled this better.

Gone downhill :(

This app used to be pretty good, but it has changed so much in the last year & a half I’ve used it. It used to be made up of mostly posts from real neighbors with real issues & conversation. However the conversations went downhill and certain opinionated people started dominating the conversations. I think a lot of people left. And now my feed is almost all ads (sponsored & individuals) for services or items & appeals for money, with a mix of lost dogs mixed in. People also abuse it for selling animals, which is against the policy. The quality of the people, postings & conversations has really gone downhill—I many decent neighbors have, sadly, abandoned ship. And I’m ready to do the same. It can be good for selling items, finding a recommendation for a service (plumbing, fencing) or finding/posting a lost animal, but I’m so disappointed in what has happened to it. Nobody replies to my posts. I HATE all the ads. I want real people with real posts. Not just people trying to sell me things. The real people seem to be gone. And it does not provide a good venue for giving feedback —hard to find. Also, when reporting someone of an abuse is policy, the choices are very weird & confusing— I wrote them about this, but it hasn’t been fixed. And it was hard to find a way to even let them know this! At this point I’m not even sure there are real human beings who even run this app! Also,to top it all off, this app uses up tons of my phone battery juice. So not very happy & ready to leave it unless something changes.

Once they have your email, you’re screwed

Please read to the end. I got this app wanting to stay informed of things going on in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, it wasn’t for me. It was more like people advertising their services. It was giving me these updates for an area that I wouldn’t even consider to be my neighborhood, I could change it. I’d get a few emails from them daily. I tried changing my notification settings in the app for emails, still got them. Finally I decided it wasn’t for me so I uninstalled the app. I continued to get emails from them daily. I try unsubscribing from the email multiple times, they continue to come in. So I block the user from emailing me within my email account, guess what….. I’m still getting them. Right before I decided to write this review, I went to the App Store because I’m still getting these emails that I don’t want to deal with every day. On their help page it literally says you can unsubscribe but if they come up with a new type of email, you’ll have to unsubscribe from that too. Well I don’t know how many different types of emails they have but it is A LOT!!!!!! I have never had anything so hard to stop getting those nuisance emails from. This feels almost like harassment at this point. And no, I am not exaggerating, I have unsubscribed multiple times, I have changed the settings in the app multiple times, I have unsubscribed multiple times and I have blocked them multiple times. it is horrible and I wish I would have never downloaded it.

Very Petty in my Opinion

I wish I could give this app zero stars. It is too draconian and it has too many perfectionists, in my opinion. If you post the wrong question or word it incorrectly, even if you mean no harm, someone will come and rub it in your face. I have posted honest questions that were meant to be innocent questions, and one of my recent questions attracted a whole lot of bad comments and negativity, even though it was not meant to be a negative question… and even though I decided to delete my own post later on, my account was still suspended anyway. This is beyond petty in my opinion. On top of that, I kept on trying to change my email and I was met with nothing but glitches. Also, when I tried signing out of my account and signing back in, it signed into a duplicate account that I had accidentally created months ago… but I could not get back into my original account with a profile picture, description, and everything. So I just decided to deactivate my account for good and I might not ever come back, even though there are some benefits to having an account with this app. I also do not think that you should have to give out your “exact” address to have an account, this is ludicrous in my opinion. In my opinion, you should also be allowed to use a middle name instead of a last name. I honestly have no idea how this app has gotten so many great reviews, especially with all of these frustrating glitches that I had to deal with.

Pretty darn ok

Love the organization on the app, love that you can have a personal and business page at the same time. The reporting system is great and you can see the changes the developers are making for the better. People are putting up job postings and offering their home goods and services. It’s a great platform. Overall I would definitely use the app regularly aside from a couple things. For one it feels like a less official Facebook, people rant and post tons of stuff that has almost nothing to do with the actual neighborhood communities. There are also SO MANY lost pets posts, I think it would be a great idea to have a section specifically for lost pets and a way to mark them as found. I think it would also be great to have a more clear run down of what the platform will support or not, this could be complete user error but I saw lots of people complain about being “censored” and having posts taken down for the content. I think overall people are just using it as a second Facebook and not as a neighborhood community app and it’s messing with the way the app flows. People will be people and talk about what they like of course, but I’d rather the outlines and regulations be made clear to avoid more rage rants about how the platform is silencing people, funnily for things the platform will not support or allow.

Negativity Beyond Belief!

Most other 1 star reviews are from the negative people in the neighborhoods who beat up on others and get reported, comments removed, or accounts disabled. I was a moderator; I should have been paid for it because I’m almost in need of therapy being directed to so many rude comments from one neighbor to another. To think I live around these creeps is mind blowing! This app has a ton of ads, a lot of people looking for money, and comments that bash others almost as badly as a brick to someone’s head would be. I absolutely cannot believe the negativity which flows with Nextdoor when it’s supposed to be a place for connecting and local info. The people who work for this company are wasting their time. Anytime you try to force goodness on a group, it can only turn negative. This is what I have learned from being on this app and being a moderator for multiple years now. Tonight I had to choose to remove or keep 8 comments from one post and the comments were unbelievable considering that those people live around me. Nobody acts in person as they do on this app. This is just a place to be the soul which really lives inside a person. Not a welcoming thing whatsoever. 70% of it all is people bashing each other for whatever reason and also a place for all the people we don’t know in our neighborhoods to bring their negative karma to everyone on the app. Done, goodbye Nextdoor. I have better things to do with my life than see how my neighbors really are behind closed doors. Ugh!!!

Horrible App

If somebody thinks you’re lying about your name they report your page and it gets shut down. You don’t even get notified or get a chance to prove your identity. I was trying to tell somebody about this app and the first thing that pops up on my screen is the screenshot that I have attached below. So I’m on Google trying to see what’s going on and I’m assuming somebody who does not know me reported my account. I don’t even be on this app so I honestly don’t care but it’s for the simple fact that y’all are letting people tell y’all their beliefs and deactivated my account. But this is not the first time it has happened somebody did it on Facebook as well and I had to send them a copy of my ID and my health insurance card from the government so that they can see that what I had as my profile name was actually my name. You guys must be from Detroit because I’m noticing people in Detroit behave and think a certain way. You guys didn’t even contact me to ask for proof of what my name is. If the name listed on my account was not my name I would not have a passport, a teaching license, a passport card, a drivers license, a Social Security card, a car note, car insurance, be able to file taxes in that name, or receive government assistance. I think you guys are trifling and I told my daughter be prepared for her account to be suspended as well because you guys don’t contact people to verify their name you just assume that they’re using a fake name. Trifling trifling trifling people!

There were some good features but then

After a couple of weeks I deleted it. I found many interactions neighbors had with each other to be incredibly judgmental and petty, every Karen Buttinski in the world wanted to shame everyone else and tell them how to live their lives. And users don't have the ability to filter comments on their own posts through deletion, it has to be flagged and sent to a "committee" for review. No. I don't do committees--I'm deleting it one way or another myself if it's on my post and I don't like it. Further, I discovered blocking people hides their stuff from you--NOT you from them?? That is a major safety concern. Next door developers if you're listening: 1. You should give users the ability to delete inappropriate and unacceptable comments from their posts. This would avoid/reduce many of the negative interactions on the app. 2. You could also correct the block feature to *actually block* someone. This is a huge safety concern that users can't block their profiles from people harassing them. 3. You should, thirdly, not make users fill out some archaic form to opt out of having their data sold. That should be part of signing up in the first place: "do you agree to having your data sold, check yes or no"--not something you have to track down on your own and jump through hoops to protect your privacy. Overall, while there were some good things about the app, the inability to exercise control over one's own posts and the safety concerns significantly outweighed any positives and I have deleted it.

Scrolling hitches

Update: I uninstalled the app (which said it would delete its data), restarted my phone, then reinstalled it. The first couple of times I ran the app, scrolling was smooth again. What was quite weird is: I didn’t have to log into NextDoor again. So it kept some of my data, somewhere (key store?). It did ask for permission to send notifications again. Anyway, let’s see if the scrolling problem builds up again. April ‘22 The scrolling hitches are still there. If you keep the panel moving slightly, even by dragging up and down, it will scroll smoothly through pages and pages of content. But the moment the panel stops completely, you cannot scroll at all for 3-5 seconds. Not can you hit buttons. The app doesn’t heat up the phone, so it’s not stuck in a loop. It just goes idle, and forgets to poll for input. Obviously, QA would have noticed this. So it must be an issue w iPhone 8, only. Maybe a bad assumption about equal update rates everywhere? I’m on the latest OS. March ‘22: The last few versions have a performance bug where scrolling hitches, and buttons are unresponsive for a moment. No other apps on my iphone8 are doing that. I love the service and seeing local posts. Also, it would be nice as an admin of a group to be able pin/unpin posts in the app. Right now, you can only do that on the web.

Wrought with baseless censorship

The app is extremely buggy, and since 2020, the app has turned into a clown show because America has turned into a herd of snowflakes that melt down when anyone disagrees, no matter how kindly you word it, how much you stick to facts and not even address anyone, someone is going to report you for being uncivil and then you get banned with no explanation, because NextDoor doesn’t provide that info. With this process, NextDoor’s policy isn’t changing behavior, because if they intended behavior to change, they’d allow people an opportunity to find out how they need to change. Just censorship when someone that Nextdoor allows to be a moderator which appears to be anyone that applies to be one, because many of the people with these privileges break the Nextdoor rules themselves on a daily basis. I have literally been harassed by one in DMs, and they purported to be someone they aren’t, and Nextdoor did absolutely nothing to remedy or remove that person’s moderator privileges. My physical safety has also been threatened on this app and I got no support. Nextdoor has created a dangerous environment, and it is my understanding that they do not care. As far as finding valuable information like business reviews - many of these are friends of the business owners so they aren’t unbiased reviews. I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with hiring people from this app as well. At the end of the day, this app provides you with an additional app to Facebook to bully and be bullied.

Beware! Absolutely NO REGARD for your personal information!!

I used this app to get help from the local community about an ongoing neighborhood issue. My post got a lot of views in a very short time but a disgruntled neighbor reported me for not using my real name so they disabled my account. I discussed the difference between real name and legal name with them. They don’t understand that for a lot of us, we have the legal name on paper and the name our friends know us by. That’s the name I had put in my Nextdoor App and I consider it as my real name. What’s even more ridiculous is that they asked me to EMAIL a copy of my driver’s license to them for verification. Do they not realize how insecure e-mail is and how common identity theft is? If this is how carelessly they treat our information, I can’t imagine how careless they are with our other information they collect by just using the app. They also said they tried to verify me but couldn’t from their records. I was shocked to hear that they used my information, without permission, for their own verification. I would have never signed up for this app if I had known that they’d be using my information for their own use. I am worried that they are selling my information to third parties for profit. I have asked them to delete all my information from their system but i am still waiting for a response. At the basic human level, why should we allow them to dictate how one wants to introduce oneself?

These guys have no clue how to write a decent app

They’ve “revamped” the app so now you can only see the latest few of your saved items, anything past the few they show is now completely inaccessible. The new app design is awful, it takes a bunch more taps and scrolling to do what used to just be a couple taps. I primarily use this for the stuff for sale, and they’ve completely messed it up, tons more painful to use and everything is much harder to use! The app is very spammy, because you don’t have anyway to exclude topics you aren’t interested in, only to “follow” to see everything. For example, it seems like half the posts are about pets, which I have no interest in, but also no way to disable. There's no way to disable notifications for just one thread, so any thing you ever do or participate in, you'll get harassed and inundated with a barrage of notifications for any active conversation. The only other alternative you have is to never participate in any thread to avoid the barrage of notifications. Yeah, that's an incredibly "smart" way to build a social-type app. Not! And even though the app supposedly has notifications settings, it seems to ignore them because I keep getting notifications for types of things I’ve clearly disabled. Because of this I have to keep notifications for the WHOLE app turned off, which means I don't see important stuff going on, which really makes the app pretty useless to me.

Community forum for racists and bullies

Harassment thrives and it’s impossible to report someone that harasses you or to report someone. Nextdoor is a place for people to amplify their racist ill intentions toward neighbors and bully people who have different opinions than their own. In my own neighborhood the admins or moderators take down posts that they don’t like based purely on their personal beliefs, but leave up posts encouraging violence against poor people, using profanity against people suspected of a crime, and conspiracy theories. For example I made a post about the illegal use of gas leafblowers in our neighborhood which was banned 20 years ago and not really enforced and the moderator removed it because he didn’t like it. This app is just another forum for Trump boomers who don’t want the world to improve and hate everyone. It should be banned. Someone kept messaging me harassing me and it was impossible to block or report them. I don’t know how moderators are picked but they allow comments like “set fire to tents” or “take homeless people and put them in the desert” and other violent statements but block people from complaining about leafblowers. It’s a place for people to share misinformation and conspiracy theories. There’s nothing neighborly about it or safe. It harbors racism and encourages violence against your neighbor and you aren’t able to avoid this violence or report it. It’s an app used in my neighborhood in an evil way and I wish this app didn’t exist.

Glitchy, horrible user experience

And the worst of the worst version of social media. The app is unusable and the website is just as awful. You set feed preferences only for them to be completely ignored and jam packed full of ads for junk you’re never going to buy. Looking for a specific post? The search option won’t find it for you. Nor will scrolling down your feed because each and every time your feed refreshes (which is about every 30 seconds) a completely new order appears and that post that was just there is now nowhere to be found. Want to see posts from ONLY the neighborhoods you choose? Too bad! You’ll be bombarded with things that aren’t remotely relevant to you, ever. Did you want consistent notifications for things like you set your preferences to? Too bad again! Half the time you will and the other half of the time they get lost in Narnia or somewhere. And let’s talk about users. Here every Karen has a chance to complain about everything including 4 letter words that offend her delicate sensibilities. BUT! If you wish to show disrespect without a pearl clutching, gasp worthy, blasphemous 4 letter word, by all means—go right ahead! Even when you’re commenting on the post of someone who lives NOWHERE near you and whose post has NOTHING to do with you, you can report their simple reply telling you to mind your business because it used a word that made you raise your hand to your forehead and positively faint onto your chaise in disbelief! The moderators, or whatever you’d call them, have your hypocritical self-righteous back.

So, apparently posting truthful and honest review about someone who is scamming, elderly folks, I’m Social Security, for thousands of dollars is frowned upon by the monitors who I’m sure are his friends. My post is removed for bullying the way provided proof of what this man did to my 79-year-old father on Social Security. This man after several years posted an ad for working on peoples houses which caught my attention right away because I’ve been looking for this man he spent over $5000 of my dad‘s money and never did the work. I have checks to prove it in the house that has no repairs done, after posting on this man’s ad that he should do the right thing he private messaged me trying to give me excuses for why he scammed my dad imagine my surprise since my name is not the same as my dad‘s name and I wasn’t in the area and he scammed my father. How does he know who my dad is he must’ve done some research himself. He knows what he did, the monitors deleted my post and said that I was bullying him not bullying him. He bullied a senior citizen on Social Security and stole over $5000 of his money. How am I bullying this man asking him to do the right thing they removed my post that just makes me mad because that means that this app is not for the negative only for what is happy and lucky and that’s not how the world works so one star for me for not doing the right thing, don’t censor people that are trying to warn others from scammers that’s wrong

Cannot block nuisance neighbor on Platform

I started posting a fun fact Friday related to my industry on this platform to draw in potential clients to view my page. There is a particular neighbor that comments on every single post anyone makes and the comments they make are always unrelated and sometimes inappropriate. These comments are condescending and annoying. I attempted to block this person as they were commenting false news/political things/controversial topics, I just don’t want that spread throughout my page because they comment something on every single post. Even going as far as making their own posts mocking other peoples posts. I do not expect Nextdoor to do anything with this person’s account. However, after blocking this individual they are still able to see, react and comment on posts I make. You also are not able to delete other peoples comments on your post. This person is a real neighbor, I didn’t grow up in this area but a friend who did was bullied by this person. I wish to continue advertising on this platform I do enjoy it but this person is ruining it for me and there’s nothing I can do about it. I tried blocking them and I report their comments, I don’t want to respond and feed what they’re doing. If this person continues harassing our community on this platform, without the ability to actually block them then I’m going to discontinue using this platform.

Please fix app glitch 🙏🏼

Hello! I am a daily Nextdoor app user. I love the app, but a few weeks ago after an update, a problem started occurring that prevented me from being able to post safely. The post location option had disappeared, so I couldn’t post because anything I posted would be up for anyone from anywhere to read, comment on, and see my profile and location through. It’s clear that my neighbors are having the same issue because people that previously made posts with the nearby neighborhoods icon on them now post exclusively to “anyone.” What has happened is an uptick in conflict with people far outside of my community commenting on matters that do not affect them. Additionally, there is “trolling” occurring as well, meaning there are people commenting well outside of their community just to make disrespectful remarks to members of mine based on where we live. Please fix this app issue and make “nearby neighborhoods” the default post location. This is important not just for the reasons stated above, but also because we have many people on the app who possess limited tech skills and just want to address their neighbors, not whoever from wherever. I have contacted Nextdoor support several times, and the only advice I received was to continue with the “fix” I found, which is opening and closing the app until the post location feature reappears. This can be a quick 3-4 times of closing and reopening the app, but it can also be 10-20 times, both of which shouldn’t be necessary or expected of users to do in order to make a post to their neighbors. I made informational screenshots and posted information about this issue, but the app really just needs to be fixed.

Do you like spam emails?

2nd Update: i STILL receive emails despite deleting my account a second time. Apparently deleting it once wasn’t enough. Apparently if you delete your account completely, you actually aren’t. This is ridiculous. Flagging it as spam hasn’t worked. I’ve called and been assured I won’t receive anymore. All false. I feel like the only thing I can do now is get a lawyer, it should never get to that point. Update: in response to the developer, I deleted my account. Completely got rid of it. And I STILL receive 2 or 3 emails a day. This is solid proof that I can’t actually delete my account. I followed steps to unsubscribe my email alone, and I still get emails. I had this issue years ago, and somehow it resolved itself, but this time around, it’s worse. Original Post: Then look no further than this app. It will constantly flood your inbox with posts about lost dogs, helicopters in the sky, and more lost dogs. And the occasional “what kind of snake is this?” Post as well, all of which aren’t in your neighborhood! On top of that? The emails will be about posts two weeks ago! So you’re always up to date on the latest semi-local news and happenings. Unsubscribe? Nope, not gonna happen. It would seem like it takes 5-7 business years to update your notification preferences. Really though, great concept, but this app is 90% advertising, 10% posts. The delivery needs work.

Way too many updates

This is 11 updates in about a month. You should not be fixing this many bugs in production software, and I certainly don’t see that many improvements wing made. Version history should be an honest change log, not just the same canned text every time. My internet service is capped and for me to consume over 1Gb per month just for updates to one app is totally unacceptable. Previous review: This is my weekly review of what’s new in this update. Oh, never mind. Can’t find anything mentioned. So I won’t waste time updating the app. This is a revision of my original review. The version history for this app’s last 25 revisions is the exact same text. If you are adding features, then let us know what they are. If you are fixing bugs, then you need to do more internal testing before releasing the change to the public. I need to know what is changing before wasting my time and internet bandwidth on non-applicable updates. This app is useful to me and works well. However, I am annoyed by numerous apps that do a weekly update. Please do more internal testing so you don’t have to update all the time. I really don’t see much in improvements from week to week. I have a slow internet connection, so dealing with 50 apps that need updating all the time is a major pain.

Adds and Clutter

This use to be a good app when I first joined. That’s all changed. There are way too many ads. It use to be advertising for neighbors that had businesses, now it seems to encompass the United States! The app has become harder to navigate and regardless of how I configure it, I continue to get neighborhoods (even more clutter) that I’m not remotely interested in, and of course even more ads to go with it. After reconfiguring, they go away for awhile sometimes, but inevitably come back (and yes, I save the settings). I quit using the app and have started going in the old fashioned way. However, while that seems slightly better, it still falls way short of what it once was and it’s constantly trying to force me to log into the app. Because of the aforementioned issues, I now rarely use Nextdoor anymore. I’m just about ready to delete this app altogether! Main issues? Too many ads, too much clutter, and neighborhoods I can’t seem to eliminate permanently. By the way, I’m not alone in this critique, I’ve talk to others that echo these same complaints. I guess the younger generation, particularly those that like or use Facebook, feel right at home. Suffice to say, I’m not in those demographics! One last thing..The version history says the same thing on every update. It’s doesn’t list any specific thing that have been addressed; just general categories and therefore pretty useless!

Great Way to Meet your Neighbors

Neighborhood, when used and monitored properly is a great tool for making you aware of new neighbors moving into your neighborhood so that you can meet them. It provides a means of communicating with one another about events, issues, and general information. Guidelines for commercial businesses could be better. I would like to see businesses register under the business name with only one person able to register and comment. We have problems with non resident businesses registering under their personal name using another business or resident's address. This makes verification difficult. Overall, it is a great web site and can bring your neighbors closer. I would also like to see husband and wife's have to have separate accounts so we know who is posting. Leads need to be able to see house numbers even when not provided publicly as renters move without deleting accounts and we end up with dead accounts. It would be helpful also to know who a renter vs homeowner is so on issues can be determined by homeowners affected not a short term renter. Too many short term renters are allowed to join; here today, gone tomorrow. It should not be allowed to become a cheap way for home sales people to advertise. Stricter guidelines and more enforcement by Leads makes it a better forum for a community. My biggest concern is that a single Lead can dominate the community and disrupt. Post can be removed by a single Lead rather than a vote. A Lead who has no history of community service can delete Community Leader’s post simply because of opposing opinions. Leads should be moderators not opinionatora.

Poor monitoring of leads and posts

Leads remove simple innocent comments yet they allow hate, conspiracy theories, meanness, judgements, misinformation, and more. And sometimes there can be three leads that are commenting on one of the posts and a part of this behavior. No one can contact you. That is absurd. We need to go through the already bias leads or pay some company to leave you a message. You need to vet the leads and dump some. The leads have no oversite. Every job whether paid or volunteer should have oversite. You’ve turned into Villages-News and Talk of the Villages combined where people filled with vitriol sit in their houses and demean others because they are bored and hate human kind. It is quite shameful. March 2025 comment You have allowed Jeni L. a reviewer to post political items and then start friction among the commenters. All her posts are anti Trump. They are written to promote hostilities among neighbors. How is this a good thing? When I said her post and ensuing comments were condescending, rude and political she blocked me and also reported me as disrespectful. Last night was the state of the union address and she has 2 posts today meant to cause friction. She openly is discussing hatred of a political opposite. I know Nextdoor is a left leaning site but don’t you think allowing her to break your rules is hypocritical? And to appoint her as a person who yesterday reviewed herself is ludicrous. Why are you doing this?

Users Spreading of Opinions Sprinkled with Misinformation and Flat Out Lies

I wish Nextdoor would fix this: users seem to be allowed to force their opinion of how others should use the platform and misquote or lie about the community guidelines. I have muted users who attempt hostility like this by using the “mute” feature but the muted users can still see my posts. I don’t want them to see my posts. They are not healthy people and I would really prefer the mute feature behave more like a block. I have seen an unprecedented number of authoritarian types attempting to control how others use your platform and ethically there is a problem with that. I believe we should follow your rules not individual rules made up by local bullies. If there was a way to stop this and have Nextdoor intervene when terms and conditions or community guidelines are misquoted by users then user engagement and traffic might go up and it would definitely create a more harmonious experience. Maybe an additional reporting option for misquoting your terms? I have essentially been bullied for standing up for others even though I correctly quoted your terms and conditions, community guidelines. What can be done to resolve this issue? I am 100% certain I am not the only one. Otherwise, I love this platform and would love to continue using it.

Hotbed of Fearmongering

While there ARE some good aspects of this application - recommendations for local businesses etc.- I’ve noticed an alarming number of posts of paranoid, complaining, nasty, stigmatizing pictures and opinions that unfortunately are specifically delivered towards people in the very close proximity of the targets of the hatred. I find it to be an unsettling result with people being accused, labeled, slandered, threatened with little to no evidence of any of the assertions that poster has made. The oversight reporting is sadly inadequate and extremely politically skewed. (If you have any kind of dispute and voice a pr-LGBTQ or ANY progressive opinions your comments will be removed yet anti-LGBTQ hate speech and racist ideology is often overlooked). The site is dangerous. I’ve seen dangerous racist posts and comments left up for DAYS that have put innocent people at serious risk of physical harm. Bad app. I’ve even watched their material about how they train their reviewers. Nice in theory but they don’t follow the practice. I’m sure they will respond about how fair they are as soon as I submit this review. Yeah right ok. Update: I actually began serving as a reviwer/moderator on this app- I can assure you that my previous analysis is completely accurate. This app is full of hate speech. I even ebcountered an "retired cop" on there that was advocating for doxxing MINORS while accusing them of crimes on the platform. This was allowed by the platform . Horrific

A cesspit for boomer bullies

So the app has good intentions by wanting to connect you to people in you community so we can all be updated on safety, events, and all kinds of neighborhood things. But let’s start with the lack of privacy. You cannot stop people from seeing you entire name and it’s tagged with your neighborhood on it. This wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the fact that there is no block feature. But there is a messaging feature for all your creepy and extreme neighbors to harass and stalk you. Now you can “mute” them but it does no good if they can still send me messages and have access to everything I post. Now let’s get to the actual communities. And before I continue I did indeed look at previous reviews to see that indeed it is all over the states, not just my specific location. You’d think that especially after a pandemic that we’d all have at least one common ground. Lol no. Most posts turn into hostile comment threads between far right and far left neighbors. It’s a dog pile of bullying, mainly from the 50+ year old community. Now why don’t these people argue on Facebook? Because on this app, there is a “community review” feature that allows neighbors to review reported posts. So if said “bullies” are the community reviewers, they’ll remove posts directed at them/ their side, but keep their posts up, thus censoring and playing favorites in the comments. Overall, it’s a toxic playground for retired boomers who like to argue and have control over who wins, along with the enabling of creepy stalkers who have little to no hurdles to jump over in order to harass you.

Will be deleting app

I work in law enforcement and thought that it would be a great idea to join the app and invite neighbors. I’ve sent invitations to most of my neighbors through the app and initially encouraged them to join. Then I had an encounter with the staff via email. I explained quite clearly that I would like to add my neighborhood to the app because it didn’t exist. They told me to contact the “leader” of my neighborhood. (Crickets) But my neighborhood doesn’t exist... So I assumed that someone created the neighborhood, that I was forced to join, a while ago and included my newly formed neighborhood in the outline. They told me if I contacted this person and they didn’t reply then we could try something else after 3 days. Weeks have gone by and I think it doesn’t make since to have to fight hard to add “your” neighborhood on an app specifically designed as a “neighborhood” friendly app. If I wanted to include information about the HOA or issues specifically unique to my neighborhood, I would feel comfortable. I wanted to have a neighborhood meet-and-greet with my actual neighbors but now I’ll have to do it the old fashion way. The customer service is awful and the way they designated the responsibilities of neighborhood outlines should be changed. They make you join a neighborhood that isn’t your neighborhood, just your general area. Being in law enforcement I know the importance of being accurate when it comes to locations and that the additions of new neighborhoods happens fairly quickly. Would not recommend.

Nextdoor - An App for Bullying, Unchecked Racism, & Dog-Whistles

Nextdoor is full of people being outright and overtly racist/homophobic. full of dog-whistling and biased language negatively towards BIPOC & LGBTQIA+. it is a place for karen’s to be karen’s. the app is not helpful for anything but perpetuating racism/biases/xenophobia. comments that call out racism/bias are deleted while comments that are harmful/racist/include harmful misinformation are allowed to stay up even after being reported. there are posts where people are recommending violence and k*lling someone over small graffiti in an area covered in graffiti. comments with slurs and derogatory terms are also allowed to stay up even after being reported. this app is more harmful than it is helpful because it creates a mob mentality over petty, small, insignificant things. it is also incredibly unsafe as it displays so much of your personal information and this information is accessible to its users some of whom are actively wishing death and making violent threats against people. safety and privacy do not exist while using nextdoor because your violent neighbors have access to so much information about you. nextdoor is not for connecting neighbors or creating community. nextdoor is for creating a space for unchecked racism, hate baiting and dog-whistling, encouraging xenophobia, and above all a place for people to be petty, mean, biased, and chastise & bully the people of the communities it’s users have gentrified. i deleted my app for my safety and my sanity.

This app has what they call “Leads” these groups decide which posts are shown.

Nextdoor has what they call community standards which if you are in violation they flag your post. Ok I guess. But then you have groups that WORK for nextdoor called “Leads” which supposedly vote to have a post removed but yet? You don’t get a warning from nextdoor about violations. Nope. Well how can nextdoor give someone a violation warning in a post about LBTGQ concerns without being exposed for their bigot beliefs. Well they can’t of course legally. So they allow these “Leads” to remove any posts without explanation of why or how the LBTGQ posts are being removed. I posted a pic of Caitlyn Jenner and explained a fact that when he was 10 yo he always wanted to be a girl. Swipe post was gone, but not before bullies and trolls had a chance to comment aggressively. The bullies and trolls? ARE THE LEADS that nextdoor HIRES to eliminate the true community. Do not download this app they also sell your information to 10 software companies. This app is conclusive to dictatorship and keep their hands clean by having these “Leads” which are racist people that dictate what gets seen. And what gets removed. Their idea of community standards is to get rid of LBTGQ and minorities. Just check out reviews on this app on review sites. Some “Leads” actually admit to what I have stated. And these “Leads” get paid to bully and discriminate wow just wow

Absolutely terrible

The people running this app have biases that include but are not limited to political parties(all liberals) and agendas, race, gender, age, religion, but most importantly political parties. They pick and choose who can disrespect, discredit, insult and target those of us who wanted to app to have more knowledge about what goes on in our neighborhoods and be helpful to those in need in our neighborhoods and communities. Liberals can chant and whine and complain and target and harass people all day long over something as simple as a misspelled word but when that gets reported for breaking guidelines they come back with no it didn’t but when you reply to defend yourself and clarify the situation your comment gets reported and it surely sticks. These people legit control and online highschool full of the most evil and terrible People. I have lost all hope in my state, community, and especially neighborhoods. This “community” is a lie “the protection” of being able To report disrespectful and harmful comments is a lie unless you’re of a specific type that’s aloud to degrade people. Absolutely disgusted with this app and especially the people that run it. They allow only those people of certain preferences go as far as to make disrespectful, degrading, hurtful, insulting and harmful comments on serious post such as suicide, death, mental health, bullying, hate, crime, harassment. They go against everything they say they stand for. Definitely a major corruption in every aspect in addition of all else and corruption we have to deal with on a daily bases.

Next door

I originally joined thinking it was a great concept. But as time went on and I continued reading posts and even decided to respond to some, I found that this App was so one sided politically and otherwise, and if the coordinator or anyone else didn’t agree with you, they’d cut you like a knife! It got to the point that people actually ganged up on you or were simply angry and mean! I joined to find friends and all I found was petty people, mostly leftists whereby you couldn’t express your opinions without being called out!!! So that’s it! DONE!!!! So here I am and decided to give it another try, but to no avail because it’s the same old Karen’s on here with their petty nonsense, their cliques and boring stories that any fool can read about in Esquire and they get so caught up in their simply minded beliefs but god forbid you jump in with your own different opinion and either you’re ignored, just passed over, or their discussions become private! But this group isn’t different than many others I’ve read about from other states, it’s nothing more than a repeat of HS, much like Facebook for dummies, mean spirited small minded Karen’s who think they know it all! So again, whatever this account was meant for sure didn’t turn out the way it was intended, and I’ll say it again….the hardcore righteous right wingers are crawling all over the place!!!

No real privacy

You have no ability to choose not to display your full name. They prohibit anything other than your complete name. You have virtually no privacy at that point their support states it’s because it’s how you introduce yourself to complete strangers. But, I choose what information I give to complete strangers up and including if I am going to share my last name. I find it disgusting that they force it to be shown on the site not allowing the user to decide how much information of theirs is displayed. You can run the site and do a verification process while still allowing people personal display preferences. It’s disgusting and sorry but it’s perfect breeding ground for killers, serial killers, rapist and other. People get your name and your town and if they read enough of your comments I am sure they can use it for a hunting ground so sorry that I think the practice of not allowing someone privacy is disgusting. I thought the app would be great but it is a little to fascist to me. Until they allow some privacy measures for their users I won’t be utilizing this or any program of the like. I don’t introduce my entire name and area I live in to complete strangers especially not online. Not even my Facebook displays all identifying markers for people. So sorry I think this app needs to remember that there are sick people out there and they are helping not hindering those sickos.

Horrible, Useless Emails & Notifications

I keep getting posts from outside of my neighborhood on my feed and in my personal email. This just started a couple of days ago. My settings are set to my neighborhood only. I keep getting posts from neighborhoods that are 15-30 minutes away, and I’m thinking it’s local, but it’s not. Does anyone know how to fix this? Update: I got the regular response from the developer saying it’s my settings. Clearly, they didn’t read my review. I stated that my settings are only set to my neighborhood. This has happened last year too. It’s not my phone. It’s the app. And I go back in every 60 days like it says, to change ALL of my settings to just my neighborhood. 2nd Update couple years later: Nextdoor wouldn’t need to fix many problems if they investigated reports to begin with. I’ve had my account for almost 7 years with no problems, so one report of me using a false name should have been investigated. Instead, Nextdoor immediately “indefinitely suspended” my account without notice! I only knew because I logged on the next day to find out. This is a horrible app! They said my account was suspended as an error and fixed it. The only error I see is Nextdoor not investigating before taking action. I bet it was a neighbor retaliating by filing false reports. That’s misusing the report button.

Postcards could be less personal

I really like to be able to connect with my neighbours however I wish there was an option on the postcards to have it send anonymously. I just had the delightful 20 minute conversation with my parents about why their friends are getting postcards with my name and street name on them and how it somehow was “irresponsible” of me to do so because they don’t understand technology. It would have just been easier if you could send postcards but had the option to check an anonymous sender so instead of being sent my MY NAME, MY ADDRESS it could say “From a neighbour in your area” or something.

I should have read the reviews

I downloaded this app based on a neighbor’s recommendation. During setup, I found it strange how much personal information was required, but I went ahead anyway—something I now regret. after a few months, my account was suddenly suspended without explanation, and I was asked to submit a copy of my unexpired government-issued photo ID to regain access. This is where I draw the line. Why would an app need a copy of my passport or driver’s license? No other app I’ve used has ever asked for such sensitive information. It feels invasive and unnecessary, and I’m deeply uncomfortable with it. What exactly are they doing with our personal data? When I left a review, their response included a generic link to “get help”—the same one I’d already tried. No real answer, no personalization, just what seems like an automated response. The whole experience has left me with serious concerns about Privacy and trust.
