I love this app!!I’ve tried tons of diff apps for learning diff languages over the years but none of them ever stuck bc the methods they use are very difficult for me to remain consistent with. I found out about this app on TikTok and I’m so thankful because already it’s made me feel so excited to keep learning each day and I greatly appreciate the reassurances and explanations throughout the lessons. I also appreciate the fact that there’s no AI, that’s a hugely important factor on which app I’m willing to support, so thank you Palteca for that!! This learning style feels so much more immersive and it’s very easy to understand. The best language learning app ever!!!I actually enjoy using Palteca. It feels very different from a lot of language learning apps because it focuses on helping you actually understand and use Spanish in real life situations and not just memorize random vocabulary. Best Spanish Learning AppI have tried almost every language app you can think of. The thing that makes this app different is that it puts you in real life scenarios. It will have clips of real people talking and asking questions, that you will learn how to respond to. I always felt like the best way of learning Spanish is practicing by speaking it with others. Definitely worth a tryAfter about 2 months of lessons and activities, I feel like this is an overlooked app that you don’t hear much about. It somewhat follows the Fluent Forever ideas and offers a good mix of materials. I had originally complained to the (very responsive) developer about some of the questions having answers that were "ambiguous", but as I am learning more, I'm realizing that even the multiple choice questions really make you think about the answer. Because of this, I'm finding the lessons "stick" better. Using Babbel as a counter example, sometimes their answer is so obvious that it could be picked without even knowing any of the language. Lessons are short enough to easily fit in a busy day, but not so short as to be "gamified." As a beginner, the lessons so far haven’t been "hard", but they can be challenging. I’m enjoying them each day. Everyone learns differently, so your mileage may vary, but for me - having tried all of the big names (Babbel, Busuu, Rosetta, etc) - this is definitely worth a look..NonproductiveVersion: 2.5.2

It was me, not the apI love this ap. I love the extra activities so much. They actually feel like the most important part. If I can hear what I’m listening to, I can remember it. If I can say what I’m hearing, I can hear it. I rage quit once because I assumed that the ap had a glitch. After all, I WAS PRONOUNCING IT CORRECT!! Good experience with a weird app glitch.Great experience, I am really enjoying the over all approach to learning. However it seems any time you are taken out of the app as in a text, email, or alert. The app freezes and won’t let you continue. This has caused me to redo several lessons which isn’t bad for practice, but does lead to more frustration then satisfaction from burning though a lesson you just did. Speaking drills driving me crazyThe speaking is literally a hit or miss. It makes me not want to continue because I’m literally pronouncing the words but the platform is not registering. ConflictingIt’s a great app! Much better than Duolingo. Problem is that it only gives you a few lessons before it asks for money, and if you can’t pay it you basically just have to delete the app. I’m not a fan of how it acts like a free app until AFTER it makes you make an account. Cool concept, but not entirely accurate deliveryI absolutely love the concept behind this app and I believe it has a lot of potential, but it has some inaccuracies in the pronunciation help part. It gave me the word “hijo” and after saying it back it gave me a score of 95 but told me, “Just remember to pronounce the H sound at the beginning of the word.” You would never pronounce the h in hijo. It’s completely silent. Also, it has some difficulty with words that have “sci” or “sce” in them, like “indiscernible,” telling you to make sure to pronounce the s and the c. They make exactly the same sound in this context and are blended together for one s sound, unless you are speaking a ceceo dialect. Lastly, it gave me the word sibilo, and every time I said sibilo it told me I was wrong because I had said civilo. Again, the s and the c make exactly the same sound in this context in most latin American dialects and the v and the b make the same sound in I’m pretty sure every dialect of spanish. The first two sound like problems with AI that just spit random stuff at you, but the last one is because it listens for words and not individual sounds..Jose MaverickVersion: 1.4.0

Excellent AppPalteca is a cleverly conceived, poorly executed app. The creators seem to have scoured the Internet for short—four or five minute—videos that allow students to HEAR lessons entirely in Spanish. They also provide exercises to match Spanish words with mental associations and even AI pronunciation practice. All this is extremely helpful. The problem is that the app rarely updates. It seems to me that the developers expected to launch Palteca and use the revenue from the rather pricey app to support a full-time staff. When the cash didn’t flow in, the creative enthusiasm dried up, leaving the paying customers stranded. I sincerely had high hopes for Palteca.
