A Hilariously Fun Spin on a Classic, Worthy of a “+”Take PAC-MAN and combine it with “endless runner” genre concepts and you get PAC-MAN 256, which throws in a glitch wall trying to constantly catch up to you in a constantly changing maze with power-ups. But if you take those antics, revamp them, and add new features, you get PAC-MAN 256+. The new and changed features make this game worthy of that “+” at the end of its name. Unlike the original PAC-MAN 256, there’s a “Level Up” feature which starts you at 1, and as you play a game, it increases, giving you additional power-ups and upgrades to pick from at random. These reset on Game Over, but there are permanent upgrades and power-up unlocks which allow you the chance to obtain them next time you play. In PAC-MAN 256+, however, multiple power-ups can be active at once, including a Power Pellet. This is a huge improvement in my book, and is perfect for letting hilarity ensue. Because, yes, we *all* want to see a giant PAC-MAN chasing down vulnerable Ghosts with a trail of lava behind him while mines are strewn about. Yes, that can actually happen. Fun and replayableDisclaimer that I have not played the arcade version of this game, which I understand has more content. The only measure of a game quality that I care about is how much I return to it. And I played this one a LOT. The controls are simple: you swipe to change direction, and that’s it. You can swipe at anytime before the turning point, so you don’t have to time it exactly right. Occasionally you will go in a different direction than you wanted to - the game is finicky about swiping direction. I was able to adjust eventually and the problem all but went away. The progress grid is like a map where as you complete objectives, new ones open up. Depending on the objective, you have to adjust your play tactics, which is a good thing. The absolute best part of this game is when you reach a high enough level on a board, you are as unstoppable as your ability to swipe quickly. It’s like riding the world’s fastest water tube. A couple of times I got a literal rush from an exceptional run. The power ups are interesting and mostly equally useful, although a few of them seemed to do the same thing as others. All bugs fixed!Update 2: They fixed the bugs! Both me & my son were finally able to complete the game! Great game, glad they fixed the bugs. Update: The publisher fixed a few bugs, but seems to have created at least one more. I nearly completed the game, but my son decided to compete against me. He got to “Cyan Follower: Stay Close to Cyan Ghosts for XX Seconds”. He can’t get past that goal, no matter what, and it’s stopping him from progressing in the game at all. Please fix this. I accidentally sent a review before I was finished with itAnyways, in the beginning of the review, I told you that the swiping was a little bit janky, and if you were off a bit, it wouldn’t go in the intended direction. BUT, I have a fix for the controls. You can have a little bit of text before the game starts for people just getting the game, the first time they ever boot up the game (or for people who already have the game, the first time they boot it up after the update) saying, “On mobile, this game is played by swiping in directions that aren’t exactly up, down, left, or right. If the direction you swipe in is off, then you might go in an unintended direction. If this troubles you, turn on ARROW KEYS in the settings menu.” Yes, I propose you add arrow keys to your game. Download nowThis game is way better than the real version. That’s not out of Apple Arcade. If you want to download it now inside of the Crossy Road version there’s actually trains that move and there’s a train tracks. Be careful if you hit a train you die, but there’s also sound of the classic 80s. It goes way faster and it’s kind of more difficult the CEDX. It’s kind of hard but it has booze so each time you get out of a corner and you just move super quick quickly it will give you a boost, kind of fast, huh And also inside of the inside of the default version it’s easier to get combos 2X combos. it’s really fun and inside of the Pac mania if you play it oh my gosh, there’s a jump pad use a jump pack to jump over goes inside of the real version. This is a great game!I will tell you how to play PAC-MAN 256+. 1. Swipe to move in any direction. 2. When you collect a power pellet, they will turn into vulnerable ghosts and you are able to kill them. 3. When the vulnerable ghosts blink blue and white,that means that they will turn back into the ones before you collected a power pellet. 4. If you touch ghosts that are not vulnerable or the glitch, the game will end. You can collect fruits along the way such as the cherries and strawberries. You can complete missions and get power-ups. Get coins for new worlds. I got the Classic 80’s one and only three more to go. There are even items from the game that you can click to get three missions. There are rewards to get along the way. PAC-MAN 256 but if it was a rouge like or something like vampire survivors.I’ve played pac man 256 and it was a fun addicting game but could’ve use some updates and improvements to get back playing but pac man 256+ does that in a interesting way. It turns it into a rouge like and it’s not bad for an endless runner rouge like. The first thing is that the maps which are new runs like Balatro or weapons like hades or Tmnt splinter fate. The second is that the more you progress the more power ups you gain and you can level them up like a rouge like. But they can also be compared as vampire survivors too. The game is great with some issuesThe game itself is fun and addicting, but two problems prevent it from earning a five-star rating. The first one is that the quest to stay close to a ghost is broken on anything other than the blue ghost. This means the quest to gain one of the featured power-ups is locked behind a “stay close to grey ghost for 40 seconds,” which, once again, is bugged and cannot be completed. Another issue is that if two ghosts overlap or come into contact with you at the exact time while you have a bomb, you'll die, even if you're supposed to defeat them both. It happens more than you'd think. Good gameEdit: MAD respect to those people who can get 10k+ on worlds I can barely get 7k but I’m only on tornado part. Good game overall but the balancing is tedious on the Crossy road survive for 8 minutes quest as you need to use a timer and wait as if you don’t specifically wait and keep going up you would have around 7k score when you get it, however even with stalling perfectly you would have around 4k score so it’s still hard, easiest world quests 1 pacmania very easy 2 CEDX also relatively easy 3 classic 80s Hard but still doable, 4/hardest Crossy road surviving for 8 minutes takes a long time as a normal run is around 5-6. Better than the original.This version is even better than the original PAC-MAN 256, primarily due to the exciting level-up system and the addition of missions. These features add a new layer of depth to the game, making it even more engaging and rewarding. I'm really enjoying the game so far. However, I did encounter one issue: the daily challenges seem to be stuck and haven’t changed since I completed the first day. (Fixed Thank you!) The only other wish would be for the game to be on the Mac. It would work well with a keyboard and would make taking breaks between working on the Mac easier. Update 3: After I mentioned Mac support, I decided to try mirroring my iPhone to my Mac. Currently, it plays better on the Mac with a keyboard than it does on the iPhone itself, especially after one of the recent updates made the gestures for controlling Pac-Man finicky. The Definitive Version Of A Hit Game Made For Pac-Man’s 35th AnniversaryThis version of Pac-Man 256 is amazing because of the new features like special mechanics in the worlds and missions, easier to get 256 pac dot chain combos because of the pac dots being everywhere instead of there being open spaces without pac dots, and leveling up to use power-ups, which lets you use all of your owned power-ups, making the game more accessible and fun to play. Good game, irritating controls and functionsLove the free version of this game and have for years, that being said I downloaded this game on my ipad without a second thought. i've only mildly played this version and it is challenging and addictive. Fantastic game, but challenges have bugsThis is a game that I find myself returning to, day after day. The maps are terrific and I love chasing the upgrades. My only complaint is that some of the challenges - specifically staying close to ghosts for x number of seconds - are buggy. For many parts of the maps, this is okay, because you can find another path toward a reward. However, there are a few pinch points that gate all progress with a ghost challenge. So for the first few weeks, I was progressing at a great clip; but I’ve been blocked from all forward progress by the ‘cyan follower’ challenge for the past 10 days, and suddenly the game is a SLOG..Tim.just.timVersion: 1.0.2

Daily quest bugMy daily quests haven’t refreshed ever since got them all on the first day, it’s been a few days now. With the rest of the progression being slow, it hurts to not have daily quests. I think the game is fun and a really good take on Pac-Man, it just could be more rewarding and have kore variety to bring me back. — edit: the devs fixed the bug I first wrote about, thanks for being responsive. But now there is a bug where in the progression tree, missions that say “stay close to X ghost” do not count progress. This makes some parts of the progress tree h reachable. This Game is so much more superior than its original, but heres a couple of suggestions for themes…1: The Grid Mode, Basically you can find piles of blocks up to 3, then you get 5 seconds to place the blocks that can block off ghosts (the blocks are maze walls by the way) if you dont place all the blocks you lose them, and you have to find a new pile 2: The Office Mode, Every once in a while you will find an office chair that you can push by running into it from the back, if you run into it from the front, it will spin you around and take you in random directions for 5 seconds, the ghosts cant harm you when your in this state, if you push it into the ghosts, the same thing happens, the ghosts cannot harm pac-man in that state. And 1 more thing, pls fix when spunky (the grey ghost) does a 180 when jumping over him in pac-mania mode, overall great game!.LiamL.Version: 1.0

Good start, but needs more workThe original PAC-MAN 256 was one of my favorite mobile games ever, and one of my favorite games of recent times is Vampire Survivors. They basically took the two games and combined them. The sense of progression in this game is great as a result, and the challenges required to progress are more than reasonable (aside from the fact that my daily quests haven’t refreshed yet and it’s been more than 24 hours since I completed them). My biggest issue with this game though: the controls. They are significantly less responsive than the original, both for touch screen swiping AND using an actual controller. It’s very discouraging for my input to not register once several minutes into a run, and losing to getting stuck in a corner for a second too long. I really wanted to give this 5 stars, even 4, but the current unresponsive controls are a deal breaker for me. My achievements are in SpanishFor some reason my achievements for the game are in Spanish please fix this. Also in the original version the black ghost blinks white when it would wake up but it doesn’t do that in this version of the game will you also fix that please. And even though I’m playing on an iPad Pro with an apple m2 chip the game heats my device up. Great game but glitchy controlsI love playing this game but it is incredibly frustrating when you swipe one way and Pac-Man goes a different way which almost always results in death when you are up in levels and every move counts. Pretty good game but controls need workThe game is fun, trying to see how far you can go and beating your previously set record is great. FunI’m having fun playing this game, however I’m stuck on something g and I think it’s a bug. The goal I’m trying to pass is called Grape Flavor and it requires you to kill 25 purple ghosts on classic 80’s mode. Somehow it shows I’ve killed 5 out of 25 however I have no idea how I got 5. Stay close to ghosts 40 seconds/ impossible objectives.The objectives of staying close to any colored ghosts for 40 seconds are not updating and showing zero progress while working on them. Glitch wall is totally maxed out but it’s impossible to stay close to a ghost that moves horizontally for 40 seconds, the glitch wall just doesn’t allow it. A Challenging and Addictive Arcade ClassicPAC-MAN 256+ is a great game that my kids and I have been really enjoying. The gameplay is challenging and addictive, which makes it a lot of fun. The only issue we've encountered is that the Daily Quest has never reset since we started playing. Hopefully this gets resolved in a future update. Almost perfect!I love the original Pac-Man 256 and this has so many great additions. The upgrade system, the new mechanics in different stages, controller support, portrait and widescreen mode are all welcome additions. The only reason I didn’t give a 5th star is that there isn’t local multiplayer support like in the console version. A worthy sequel to Pac-Man 255 +I will admit, rejecting the green maze coloration that has held strong for most of the PAC-MAN + series is a bold move, but this entry makes the most of its quirks. I quite enjoy the return of the Mines powerup from Pac-Man 82 Plus: The War of the Titans, although they do tend to function more like the cherry bombs in Pac-Man 106 Plus: Erwin’s Reckoning. Great game. Poor support. Mission’s unclearAfter playing the non Apple Arcade version for many years, was very happy to see a new take on the game. The issue that I have is that there are some goals that are so unclear and impossible to know if you are making progress on them. For example “GREEN FAN” (Stay close to green ghosts for 40 seconds), “GREY ADMIRER” (Stay close to grey ghosts for 40 seconds) and “GLITCH WALL ADDICT” (Stay close to glitch wall for 45 seconds in one game). I have tried to get help from the publisher to get a definition of “close” and can’t get an answer. Could have been better in different handsThis is my third or fourth time reviewing this game but it will be the final review. Game is fun, a couple of the challenges are brutal so difficulty can vary greatly, and ngl it’s pretty addictive. Unfortunately, I don’t think the devs/publisher care much about it. I dinged one star because it took them over a month to fix a pretty simple issue that completely blocked off a couple progression routes, and because of said issue, I finished 95% of the game without ever having access to two power ups. It has finally been fixed, and I was able to finally complete all 256 challenges, but it’s entirely too little, entirely too late. If there are future issues, or issues that crop up with this current update, then you will be waiting a long time for a fix that honestly might not ever come. Seriously, I’ve never heard of a developer ignore such a major issue for over a month after launch. And it’s not like they were working on different updates or other bugs; this has been the only update, and the only thing in it is the fix for the issue. So it’s pretty clear that it was launched with little to no plan for support after, just release and forget. At least they had the decency to come back and fix it, although I would bet it only got fixed because of w/e contract they have with Apple. The other star hit is for the insane cost to fully upgrade every ability, which is needed for an achievement. I don’t know how many hours i’ve put in, but I did complete all 256 challenges, and even with that amount of effort, it would take ~60,000 coins to finish upgrading everything. If you haven’t played yet and are reading this, I would ballpark that grind at easily over a hundred hours, probably closer to 200 hours. It’s ridiculous, especially on a platform where sooooooo many other games are available. I really want to be able to recommend this game, but I just personally can’t. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth over the whole situation. I would give it lower, but I do feel like I have to give them SOME credit; I did play it for dozens of hours and they did come back and patch the major issue even if it took them a baffling amount of time to do so. One small issueI had to write a second review to correct a misunderstanding. The game is just as good as the normal version, just has one small issue. The achievements are in Italian, and not English, which is weird because my iPad’s language is set to English and the region is set to Canada. Maybe Duolingo was in charge of the new version and decided to swap the English and Italian achievements because he’s Duolingo and he wants you to do your Italian lessons. So many issues.Okay, so they fixed the daily issue, but the rest of the issues remain, plus some new ones. Sometimes in Pac-Mania, Pac-Man does not move forward after going off a jump, and sometimes he does. Turns out it isn’t just an issue with moving forward out of a jump, sometimes he will turn when I tell him to, sometimes he won’t. This issue can result in getting killed by a ghost or affecting combo count. And the more I play, the worse the swiping controls have become. It doesn’t properly recognize the directions and I die because Pac-Man will go the wrong way. The more I play the more issues arise. I was upgrading my upgrades and one of them had two then reverted back to one when I upgraded another to three. Using the bomb power-up, I exploded a ghost but somehow still died. Also related to the bomb, there is a mission to raise the bomb radius to level 5. So raising the bomb to level 5 using fuse upgrades doesn’t work, okay. But getting the bomb to level 5 using only radius upgrades also doesn’t work. It needs to be upgraded to level 6 using 5 radius power ups. It’s a basic wording issue. And now I’m trying to buy worlds that were 100 coins and for some reason they now cost 1250 coins. Now I’m bottlenecked in the progress because I need to buy a world and can’t. Broken goals spoil a good gameI’ve been loving this game, but can’t really give it any more than 2 stars right now as the goals are just broken, stopping any progress. As has been called out by others, the “stay close to” goals just don’t work, but I wanted to call out one on particular - the “Cooked” goal where you need to kill 55 ghosts with the laser in one game. Unless I’m missing something, this is almost impossible to do due to the weakness of the ladder and how long it takes to actually kill 55 ghosts in a game. Even after focusing the laser upgrades each time, it just takes too long to kill ghosts at the higher levels to both get 55 and stay alive. Would have been hard enough (and a grind) to kill 55 ghosts across multiple games, but it’s broken to try to do it in one game. DisappointingIf you ever played the original game, you will absolutely HATE this game. Do not attempt to play on a touch screen- use a controller. Otherwise you will have limited control of PacMan as it will confuse up for down or up for left etc. The lack of control with a touchscreen is enough to ruin the game. Then, stopping every 20 seconds to level up will drain the last ounce of fun you “might” have in the game. The power ups are a decent touch. But you cannot get into a rhythm in the game and will end up having to stop and pick a power up(or just skip) as you were trying to evade a ghost . It brings you out of the break and continues with your movement even though you were desperately trying to go in a different direction. I want to like this game, I really do. Was better before they broke the controlsIt’s Pac-Man 256, but with all the IAP stripped out. Update: they fixed the broken dailies but appear to have tweaked the controls; now my up swipes turn me right with annoying regularity, which is just awful. Whatever they did they need to revert it, the game is basically unplayable now as I consistently turn right or straight up go backwards if I was traveling left which is, again, just awful in a game where consistent movement is so important. I saw in another review response that the update that fixed the dailies also included ‘improved’ controls, so unfortunately if this doesn’t get fixed I won’t be playing the game any more. Too many bugs to be enjoyableI can’t drop any pac man interation to a single star, but the lack of response on bug fixes has me tossing this one aside. The most prominent bug being the swipe response and general character direction. With four possible directions you would think this mechanic would be black and white, but too many times the yellow fellow goes the wrong way. Worse yet is the game progression mechanic and missions needed to get new power ups. When I have to “stay close” to anything, the game does not recognize it and as a result achievements and power ups are impossible to get. Green ghost, grey ghost, cyan? It doesn’t seem to matter or the logic doesn’t know what “close” means. Appreciate the Apple Arcade library, but this BandaiNamaco remix can be passed up..Busnb0217Version: 1.0.1

Basic user controls are terribleBecause the game world is slightly titled it makes the simple swipe movement they were going for a massive headache. You want to move up, how about going left or right instead? Oh you want to go left how about down? I’m tired of constantly having my input either not register which can happen multiple times in a row or it just gets it wrong. As a game developer myself it’s not that hard to implement a fun and simple movement mechanic that actually works. I’ve even tried tilting the device slightly sideways to have a straight forward approach just to continue having the same issues. Eventually brokenI’ve enjoyed spending hours with this game but there are a few important bugs that directly effect the progress in the game. In the goals section, staying close to green, grey, purple etc ghosts for 40 seconds is not registering. Therefore you cannot unlock necessary power ups such as electricity and ghost to fruit. You can’t unlock a couple of upgrades either. This is a wonderful title, but the above bugs need to be fixed. Stuttering with latest iPad os glass updateIt was working fine yesterday on my 2025 iPad before the update but there’s performance issues now. With the new iPad OS “glass” update, this game will periodically and randomly stutter. It’s difficult to look at when the smooth motion is broken up. Worse is it will also lose some control inputs and for the tight windows and speed of the game, it kills runs. Less fun than the originalI don’t know what everyone else is smoking, but this edition is far worse than the original version. First, I HATE that the game pauses every 20 seconds so you can pick an unlock. Nothing better in Pac-Man than frequent pauses in the action. /s Second, the challenge is gone and the mazes are devoid of anything to do, especially compared to the original. Touch controls aren't responsiveSometimes pac-man will continue in the direction he is going in, even if you tell him to change direction before the turn. sometimes he will do a 180° turn instead of a 90° turn. swiping anything more or less than an exact 90° can cause pacman to make incorrect turns. this is more pronounced on larger screen devices. i play many agility apple arcade games involving more dexterity than pacman, and i have never had input errors despite putting in tens or hundreds of hours. with pacman i will get multiple frustrating errors per game, resulting in a loss of a 256 combo, a failure to goals, or death. i contacted the devs twice, they were very responsive but it's been months now, with updates fixing other known bugs but not this one. they were clearly just paying lip service. i see a couple other players experiencing the same issue. i would love to give this game 5 stars but can't until this issue is addressed. great game when it does work..MølekuleVersion: 1.0.3
