Language Learning: Pingo AI App Comments & Reviews

Language Learning: Pingo AI Positive Reviews

One major downsideOnly rating it this high so people can see it. This app actually seems very useful and a good use of AI. However, you can only do one lesson with this app which I think is a major downside. A lot of people want to learn languages right now either because they’re traveling or they’re going to school somewhere and it’s very difficult and nearly impossible to do that when everything has a paywall in order for you to learn. if I have any recommendations for this app, I’d say do one lesson than a day similar TUIEDA. And then, if the person wants to practice more during that day, they can pay premium. Another nice thing would be to allow the user to constantly practice the vocal words and not just allow them to practice once and then remove everything from saved vocab. It kind of defeats the purpose of having saved vocab if you’re just gonna get rid of it. Once Steve practiced it..Version: 3.7.5

Great way to practice speakingI just had my first Korean conversation. I’ve never tried talking with native speakers since I’m very self conscious of how I sound. I previously used Teuida but was not getting nearly enough conversational practice, so I tried this app and it has been amazing. You interact with the AI, it understands you perfectly, and responds super naturally. It also lets you go back and review your mistakes and gives you tips on many different areas so you can learn to speak properly.  I already feel like I’m becoming so much more confident speaking and it’s super easy and fun to use. Now, all the work I put in over the past few months feels like it hasn’t been wasted. Highly recommend even if you are also using other apps for good speaking practice..Version: 1.0.1

…okay 💲안녕하세요— basically, while i understand why it’s a paid subscription service, as AI is extremely expensive and costly on the environment- i’m not the biggest fan on how there isn’t at least a free version. For example, with this one app called Hello Talk- they start you out the first few days on a free trial of the VIP service, after a couple of days, it goes away. You still have access to the app, just limited services. I feel like this might be a good add, something where there’s at least some type of free option. Even if it just lets you do one 5 minute conversation a day, or maybe the AI is a bit slower, or something— i just wish there was a free version. Other than that, with the paid subscription, it really is a great app. I’m not gonna debate the costs of AI on the earth or anything; But this app is very well made and while there’s a few bugs, the majority is pretty good and it definitely does help..Version: 2.0.4

Good practice, but transcription is a bit off. When speaking with the AI conversationally, it gives appropriate responses and is good for speaking and listening. However, it has a transcription feature where you can go back and read what you said and what the AI said. My listening is particularly bad, so I'm using this feature quite often with Korean so I can go back and re-listen to what the AI had said. However, everything that I say is completely mismatched with what was actually spoken. In fact, there are times where the transcription makes absolutely no sense, but the AI's response makes perfect sense to what I had said to it initially, as if what the AI is hearing, and what the transcription is transcribing, are two totally different things. For example, the ai asked Ai: 오늘 뭘 먹었어? (What did you eat today?) Me: 김치전을 먹었어. (I ate a kimchi pancake.) Ai: 아~~~ 김치전을 맛있죠? (Ahh, kimchi pancakes are delicious arent they?) But the transcription thought i said Me: 입이 먹었어. (The mouth ate.) Which, if AI truly heard this, would not have responded with the food that I had mentioned in my response, as there's little to no correlation between the pronunciation of the two. Overall, if you are heavily reliant on the transcription aspect of this app, I would hold off until the transcription gets better. However, if you just want speaking and listening, I'd say it's worth a try..Version: 4.2.1

Love it but the bugs are horribleI can say within using this app for under an hour the bugs are very much frequent and interrupt your learning quite often. Whenever you’re taking a lesson and you enter a voice respond it takes a while to calculate and suddenly kicks you out of your lessons which can become quite annoying because it doesn’t save where you left off so you must restart the lesson to resume where you’ve left off. I see amazing potential for this app and really hope the bugs are fixed I can see it becoming very popular in the future. I’ve learned so much already from the small time i’ve spent on it and can see myself learning a lot more from this app so although the bugs are annoying it’s still a great app and makes learning languages very easy!.Version: 3.3.3

App deserves 100 stars!I’m having a great time with this app. I paid for the anual membership and if the app continues operating positively, I’m going to keep paying for it and supporting Michael. This person truly cares about feedback and making sure the app works well. This app is for serious learners willing to invest money and time into their learning. Ai is expensive so you shouldn’t expect this great app to be free. There are other free Ai apps for you to use but you will not get the same quality as this one. I decided to budget differently this month in order to pay for this app. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices in order to afford things we really want. And I want to speak Korean!.Version: 2.0.8

Subscription and othersIm sure this app is a good learning app, after all, I've talked to some friends who just downloaded the app, and they said it was a fairly good experience. They never mentioned the required subscription service to me, so I assumed it was free, I downloaded this app and attempted to use it, but I had to do something the moment I clicked one of the buttons so I left it, I tried again the next day, to be hit with an unskippable subscription service, to use the app. I hadn't even had the chance to properly use it, and now I have to pay, I spent 10 minutes looking around for some free option, where I could use the app with limitations, and I couldn't find one, there might be one, but I doubt it, if I was able to use the app more and experience what everyone was talking about, I'm sure it would've been worth it..Version: 3.4.0

It’s good!!This app is not like any other apps i’ve seen. i LOVEEE the layout of the app and how there is SUCH A BIG VARIETY of conversations to choose from! i think that it has such a good potential, but i have one problem. the price. i’m sure the developers have seen this in other reviews and i also saw them too. i feel like there should be a free version, and i saw someone’s review, i don’t mind at all if it’s slower. maybe you could just get rid of some features for free users, like the speed of the ai, only 5 conversations a day, something like that! otherwise, this app is really good, but please consider the idea about what i and others have said about the price! thank you for reading this! have a good day! (this was to the creators! this app is still really amazing!).Version: 3.1.4

This is most definitely five stars WOWThe title was a lie this app is by far the most scummiest app i have ever used you can delete your account and everything but your subscription is not canceled, you can check the whole app and there is no way to cancel. They make it so easy to make a subscription but so hard to cancel and you cant even go on the apple settings and find anything, make sure you check your apple email you’ll find the subscription link in there cancel while you still can and report them justice must be served. Real review: -10,000 stars..Version: 4.2.1

Useful tool with great potentialAs someone who has used MANY language learning apps and programs, I can appreciate the incredible usefulness of an app like this which helps improve a huge issue with language learners: gaining confidence in their speaking and improving their listening comprehension of the spoken language in conversation. It is also great being able to see the transcript of the conversations with errors and corrections, very helpful! In its current form, I find the bot conversations a bit repetitive and awkward, and the transcripts of what I said is sometimes incorrectly recorded, however I am excited to see where this app goes and how it improves over time..Version: 3.6.0

WowI’ve been learning Italian on duolingo for 4 years about 10 minutes a day and have been a max subscriber for the past year. I can form sentences and read/write decently. I have no one to practice listening and speaking with. This app filled that hole in my learning and the feedback it gives is actually useful. Compared to duolingo, the AI is light years ahead and understands me perfectly even when I make mistakes. Jumpspeak is even worse than duolingo. After a month or two, if this app is still going the way my first week has, I will likely cancel my duolingo subscription..Version: 1.0

The best AI language learning app…Pingo AI is by far the smartest, most intuitive AI language partner available. I’ve tried several similar apps, but this is the only one that speaks slow enough for me to understand and feels realistic enough to be an actual conversation. Each conversation is just challenging enough to be able to learn new vocabulary and get some high quality speaking practice every day while still being understandable. While the AI occasionally makes mistakes, it’s quite literally everything you need to become fluent. Much support for what you’re doing over there..Version: 2.0.7

Very good! Only one want (more hiragana)Hey there! I have to say, this is the first app I’ve ever used that honestly boosted my learning and listening comprehension. I’m currently learning Japanese here and I enjoy the structure of how it teaches you. The only thing I’d wish for is immediate hiragana translation on some of the bigger Kanji characters. However I’m on the fence as the way it is has helped me read the Kanji faster. (Maybe just the first time you see the word it’s in hiragana🤷🏾‍♀️) otherwise the app allows you to learn faster and listen. Major takeaways: - you can learn at the pace you need while the app still pushes you. - The AI listens when you need or slow down or speed up - You can actually have full conversations that go whatever direction you need it to so you can learn more vocab. I genuinely enjoy it and would recommend it to anyone who’s serious and is tired of reading random dictionaries to learn🤣.Version: 3.8.0

Great for speaking, needs work for arabicI always saw ads for this app so I finally decided to get it. I wanted to use it for arabic. The pronunciation is amazing for an AI model, everything it has said so far is spot on. However, the text sometimes gets wonky because arabic is right to left and English is left to right. When it puts the phrases to say in arabic, they are often out of order or all jumbled up. Even a couple of times in the role plays, the text you are supposed to read versus what the ai Just told you are different. Besides that, this is actually one of the best arabic learning platforms I have seen!.Version: 4.4.0

Still needs a lot more work to get it right. This app has potential, but right now it’s really frustrating to use. It tells you your pronunciation is wrong without truly explaining why, so you end up repeating things without actually improving. The speech recognition often transcribes me in different languages and occasionally doesn’t show what I’m supposed to say. Adding clear pronunciation feedback or just the option to come back to the mispronounced part later would be helpful. Maybe a separate environment for practicing the specific words. So if you’re stuck we could move on to the next thing and come back later..Version: 4.3.0

AMAZING 😭😭😭I’ve been learning Chinese on and off for 8 years ever since I started watching “Empresses in the Palace”. As a single mom, it’s been hard for me to find time to practice and speaking has always made me nervous especially since I’ve never had anyone to practice with. This app came just in time and I am soooo grateful. I feel I can really grow my Chinese listening and speaking skills at a way faster rate now. And being able to add to my already existing vocabulary is a GOD SEND…THANK YOU GUYS FOR MAKING THIS APP AND PLEASE NEVER STOP 💖.Version: 3.1.4

Really nice but freezes oftenI really like this app so far, I purchased the monthly subscription and so far it’s really helpful with lessons and grammar and pronunciation. I think the price is pretty reasonable especially with all the lessons and tools you get access to. My only complaint is that the app freezes so often which is probably just a glitch with the ai system that needs to be debugged but it’s a bit distracting and frustrating especially if you’re in the middle of a lesson or practicing dialogue sessions. I would give this app 5 stars if this was not an issue..Version: 3.3.4

Difficult Subscription CancellationI liked using the app for a few days, but the subscription process feels very misleading. The free trial automatically becomes a $100 yearly charge, and you can’t cancel it through your phone like a normal subscription. Instead, you have to dig through your email to find a sign-up message from Pingo and use a separate subscription management link. Even deleting my account in the app did not cancel the free trial, and I still would have been charged. That feels predatory. A service that believes in its value should not make cancellation this difficult..Version: 4.2.1

Unbelievably goodExtremely effective for quickly improving listening and speaking. The AI is very good at responding naturally and meeting you at whatever skill level you’re at. Really impressive how smoothly it switches between English and Spanish, very similar to learning a language with a real tutor. Absolutely worth the money for anyone serious about learning quickly.Version: 3.8.0

Often frustratingThis app has potential and maybe it’ll improve enough eventually. But right now it’s incredibly repetitive in the lessons and more often than not doesn’t recognize words that are clearly said. At times I have to repeat the first word of a sentence 3-4 times before finishing the sentence or it says I didn’t use the first word. Additionally there were 8-10 lessons almost in a row where it taught the same 3 word phrase. Again it has potential but it’s definitely not there yet and for the price it should be much better than it is..Version: 4.4.1

It’s really good but..I found this app really nice as you can converse with an ai and it could tell you what you said right and wrong. The problem is that I can only use it once, and then I would have to pay subscription to use it again. I’m aware of the 7-day free trial, but after that I won’t be able to use it, because not everyone is allowed to use money on apps. What i would recommend is if we could actually use the app for free, but there could be better privileges for those who paid the subscription. Thats what I think would be fair enough..Version: 4.3.0

BuggyIt’s so far a good app, I’m studying Russian and when I ask it for explanations between 2 ways of saying something it’ll give me an informational answer. However sometimes when it asks me a question and I answer in a different way it expects me to, it completely ignores what I said, just tells me good job and moves on to something else. I like how I can make the AI teach me fully in Russian for a more in depth immersion. However I also wouldn’t mind if it didn’t show what I have to say during a conversation. That way I can recall what I have to say from memory..Version: 3.7.0

Hire an exterminator for those bugs 🪲There are definitely some bugs and kinks to be worked out!! I love using this app but sometimes halfway through the conversation, the ai will freeze up and become unresponsive or will loop the same phrase over and over again. The only way I’ve found to deal with this problem is to completely end the conversation and start over. It’s okay when I’m just practicing dialogue but it is very inconvenient when I’m in a lesson. Once you get those bugs taken care of, it’s a five star app!!.Version: 2.0.1

Amazing but still buggyAn amazing speech practicing app. The AI bot is very contextual and can respond to any input. There are some bugs though where it gets stuck in a loop, says weird things, stops mid sentence, or fails to prompt me. I’m also not a fan of the timer kicking you out when it times down. It would be great if I was just prompted aside from the pop up at the bottom asking if I want to continue or just have the AI bot ask after a certain time..Version: 3.1.4

Almost thereI really enjoy Pingo AI. I think there has been many improvements but also many bugs along the way. Sometimes the transcript doesn’t load or you’ll say it and the transcript has you saying it right but pingo tells you to try again. I hope there is many more additions and improvements in the future because the speaking practice is helpful! But I’m not sure if I’d pay for it again until it’s bug free!.Version: 3.1.4

Still buggyIt’s great to practice speaking if you already know some of the language and grammar rules. Only thing is it tells you a good job no matter what, so it will not correct you if you pronouncing. Also the dialects of the language are set to the default accent the origin country uses, so if you’re wanting to learn with a specific dialect, you’d have to tell it to at the beginning of the lesson, but sometimes it won’t. Overall good for practicing speaking conversationally before speaking with actual people..Version: 3.5.0

ConcernI do like this app so far as I’m trying to learn French. However, this app tends to bug out while the AI talks to me. It’ll cut off mid sentence, or ask me to repeat things and then the blue button gets stuck and my voice doesn’t register so I have to restart the app and the lesson. I’d really appreciate a look into this bug as I’ve paid $15 to keep a monthly subscription. I don’t see myself keeping this if it’s not resolved soon as it’s frustrating and keeping me from being motivated..Version: 2.1.1

Great appI really love using this app I think it’s super helpful the only thing that would make it better is if the app could remeber the conversation we are having and pick back up where it left off. The second thing would be to be able to have conversations longer then 10 minutes if those two things changed it would for sure be 5 stars.Version: 4.1.0

Great idea, excited to see improvementsA really cool app, especially for learners that aren't true beginners and have some experience with the language beforehand. I had some difficulty unsubscribing from the free trial because of the emails I subscribed with, so I'd recommend using personal and not school emails to register. I eventually got in contact with the support team, and they were very helpful..Version: 4.3.1

The best app I’ve seen since PimsleurFor years i have recommended anki and fluyo and pimsleur but now i can recommend pingo over Pimsleur and Anki. This is the best language learning app available..Version: 3.8.0

I’m traveling not living there!Don’t understand why there is so much focus on flights and insurance there is more time spent on that than everyday conversations with people!.Version: 4.2.1

Pace of speakingWould be better is the speaking part was slower. They speak very fast, especially for beginners.Version: 4.2.0

Nice appIf you want to learn a language this is the app trust.Version: 4.0.0

10/10This is by and large the best app I have EVER used to study languages. It is so flexible, so engaging, and never dull if you can think of different aspects to practice. I’m actually so upset I did not try this sooner because it is the most fun I have ever had learning with an application. It is the only time I’ve had fun with an application for learning languages, if I’m honest. Some are engaging and good at teaching, but this goes beyond that. Try it and you will not regret it..Version: 3.6.4

Love it!Great app for practicing languages and simulate real conversations. It makes me learn more quickly! Some additions that would make the app perfect : I wish it was possible to practice vocab with flashcards from English to the target language (and not only the other way around)… also it would be great if it was possible to put the vocabulary in different lists/categories..Version: 3.8.0

Good at firstAt first this app was amazing. It keeps track of everything you’re learning and is really good at answering questions. To upgrade the app I would recommended closing or checking off topics/ modes that have already been completed. I would also recommended having the ‘vocab’ words be able to used to practice. A bug that needs to be fixed - it marks errors when there are no errors. For instance the voice asked “where are you going” and I responded with “downtown” and the app was under the impression it said “what do you like about this city”. I say all that to say there are quite a few things that can be upgraded especially for the price.Version: 3.7.5

Love ITOk so i love this app but i think they should add punjabi.Version: 3.7.5

It is soo goodBut I have a problem with the subscription. Why is it so expensive like OK I get you have to make a profit but that’s very expensive as a student. It gets a five stars for me, but please lower it down a bit..Version: 3.6.0

.I wish there were levels because I can’t keep track of the lessons I did and didn’t do. Also would like to see if my steak keeps going after every lesson I do per day. Can you please also include a setting where the AI talks faster. I need to do other things. The price is very expensive as well.Version: 3.6.4

App likes to crash mid lessonJust got a yearly subscription today and while I find the app helpful, I have had the app crash on me multiple times mid convo. Developer님 please fix this~ (Also maybe add a ‘report’ feature so feedback process is more clear).Version: 3.6.3

The best app ever madeIt's the best.Version: 3.5.0

AmazingThis app has improved my Korean speaking more in a week, than a year of 2x weekly tutoring sessions has! Having the ability to repeat and slow down a conversation, and access a transcript is invaluable, especially in building confidence for real life conversations!! The Value for cost is amazing, especially compared to private tutoring. I couldn’t recommend this app more..Version: 2.1.1

Pingo is goodPingo is good. You need to know what you are doing though. It’s good. The best ai for language learning.Version: 4.4.1

DutchThe Ai is not good enough yet, the exercices never end sometimes, and it is too strict. If you don’t have perfect prononciation, it makes you repeat the sentences 4-5 times.Version: 4.4.3

HEY JESUS!!!! 😭😭😭I downloaded this for my future vacation cause Japan is on my bucket list right? And she said how do you say Mellon in Japanese I said how I believed and she said what’s your favourite Mellon? And I said like the Mellon Mellon, and she said “you are one stupid person if you want to learn Japanese…let’s try and say that I will find you.”. HELL NO! IM PACKING MY BAGS AND MOVING TO ZIMBABWE BRO! Developer please fix your app bro 💔.Version: 4.4.3
