New Best Free Radar/Satellite/Model App?As someone who has been studying the weather and tracking it consistently for years now, it has been hard to find multiple good radar apps. Tracking tornadoes and hurricanes from a meteorological standpoint is completely different from using your normal precipitation map that people call the “radar.” As for actual radar apps, there’s really only a few that have dominated for years. This one just became a contender for that list in the first hour of its release. It has more features than any other free radar app on the market. In addition to this, you really can’t just call this a radar app. Yes, it has all of the radar features (with precipitation and velocity in super resolution) but it has so much more. It also has real time satellite data along with the GFS and HRRR weather models (hopefully more to come in the future). This is something that very few apps have and to my knowledge, this one does it better than any other. You can also overlay weather forecasts on top of all these things and with an amazing road map, I’d assume storm chasers will also gladly start using this. Absolutely AMAZINGI have been using this for a month of so and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! If I am looking for weather information THIS HAS IT! It shows the velocity, it shows reflectivity, and it also has dual polarization, precipitation type, precipitation accumulation, and derived products and thats all just under radar AND FREE. You can have dual radars, I personally use velocity and reflectivity together. I am not someone who chases storms or really studies them in any professional way, I am simply someone who is fascinated by the information and data I can look at. It has everything I would like to be in an app as someone who is just looking out of interest and fascination of looking and watching supercells and storms. Super ExcitedI saw this app mentioned on wxtwitter and am greatly impressed! This app has a lot of similarities to RadarScope (which I love) and offers several premium data layers for free. Some examples are the satellite basemap and lightning data. Additionally, the weather models are great! In the past I’ve always viewed weather models on a computer, as they are usually not very mobile friendly. But this app works so well on my phone and offers numerous models and runs. I’m hoping (unless I haven’t found it yet) that users will be able to eventually link and submit Spotter Network & mPING reports to the map. This was really helpful during Hurricane Helene. So many functions!I originally heard of this app from the YouTuber Max Velocity and I decided to get it just to see if it was any good since it was free and WOW. This has so many features for being a free app! This has more features than even some paid apps I’ve seen. I used to be a RadarScope loyalist (no subscription though, only base app) but honestly, this may be my new go-to weather app and my go-to recommendation for those who want to get into storm tracking. This has the features of that app and more. And I just heard that a $10 subscription can get you even more than this somehow! Exactly what I've been wantingThis app is exactly what I've been looking for and wanting to make myself. The free tier gives just enough information to use this app casually, while the advanced tier gives you everything you could ever need. Other app's high prices have been needing competition, and sites like DuPage and PivotalWeather have poor UI's on mobile. This app is all of those in one, making it the best weather app I have seen. ImpressiveI’ve been using other apps like RadarScope for many years. Even tried Omega for a while. This app has outstanding performance. Has a good set of features for only being two weeks old. And has the best maps. This app will be my go-to from now on. Please make the Outlooks page refresh while the screen is active instead of upon load. And if you choose to add any other features, a distance tool would be my first request. I did have the app crash once. When long pressing and zoomed in. I had repeatedly done this and it cracked. All in One Exceptional ValueI worked 15 years in the weather enterprise mostly as a weather communicator. It involved the use of a variety of subscriptions with professional software, data feeds, and website subscriptions. This app has everything I need in place of all that. It’s always true that you get what you pay for but for $10 a month the value is exceptional. I no longer need my radar scope, Gibson Ridge products, or other subscriptions to understand forecasts, review model data, or communicate information. Love it so far, but I have suggestions…I found out about this app via Instagram and wondered where this has been all of my life. Not just sat-rad, but also NWP guidance and surface obs in one app is very nice. I do have some requests, tho. 1) Have a version for macOS. The best for weather neardsThis is the best free weather app for weather nerds. I would not recommend this for someone who just wants to see the forecast but if you want to look at tornadoes or severe t-storms this is amazing you get infinite free velocity cc and more. Might be best radar app, even when freeThis app does all the same as Radar Omega and RadarScope, but the difference is that it's free, and WeatherFront has a cleaner UI and what looks like higher def radar.
