Alabama Weather Network App Comments & Reviews
Alabama Weather Network Positive Reviews
What a gift to the entire state!I’m a MS native who now lives in Chelsea, AL, for the last 10+ years. So, so grateful for Mr Spann and AWN! (And thank you Alabama Power for sponsoring the network!) I tell other folks new to the area to download the AWN app. After paying for ad-free apps for years, Alabama, you’re so lucky to have this amazing service available. Every state should be so lucky. 🍀 Mr Spann’s lifelong dedication to teaching children (and adults) about weather cannot be understated. I’ve seen him at just about every major B’ham event for a noble cause. Whether it’s guest judging the Chili Cook Off to benefit The Exceptional Foundation or Unless U Got Talent which benefits Unless U (look it up!), Mr Spann selflessly gives his time. (And God bless Mrs Spann: she must be so extra special!) Thank you for your dedication to making lives better and people safer..Version: 7.0.6
Alabama Weather CoverageI’m 39 and grew up watching and depending on James Spann my entire life for local weather. 4 years ago me and my family moved out of his coverage area to the Tennessee Valley. While I don’t particularly have any gripes on my local coverage it’s just hard to adapt when you’re used to watching the GOAT your entire life. So happy this network and app were launched. Looking forward to it becoming my go to app/channel for weather moving forward especially during tornado season..Version: 7.0.1
Exceptional! This app is so user friendly and incredibly well made and intuitive! I love that everything you could ever possibly need weather wise is in one place! I also love that it sends me notifications when there are changes in conditions in my area! So excited about the future of this company, this is amazing!!.Version: 7.0.1
Great Interface. App has bugs. Stream crashes.App has a good looking interface and is easy to navigate. For weather information, I give it a 9 out of 10. I downloaded the app to be able to watch James Soann’s forecasts. I like the way that the weather stream is presented. It’s like what the “local on the 8’s” used to be back in the 90’s. Just good weather information. However, the stream crashes and then locks up the app. It takes at least 3 or 4 app restarts (app open and force close) to get the app functional again. Hopefully this will be fixed soon..Version: 7.0.1
Data UsageThe actual app itself is pretty nice. At first, it was locking up and wouldn’t let me bypass the screen you first get when you download it. However, within a few days, the app had used 9 GB of cell data when I had only used the app for maybe 15 minutes. I turned off background app refresh using data, and it still accumulated another 1.5 GB after a few days. I hope this problem is fixed, because I do prefer AWN to other weather apps..Version: 7.0.1
Weather information for AlabamaI have high respect for weather and the Alabama Weather Network for their severe weather coverage because it’s great for people who live in Alabama particularly those who just want information about what’s coming our way in regards to severe weather whether you’re from Alabama or not..Version: 7.0.4
Excellent AppFor a brand new application, 10/10. An enhancement to consider is with the alerts. I have several locations marked for reference (upcoming trips and or family locations) and if I have alerts on, I get alerts for all of those locations and most are outside of AL and not needed. Perhaps consider alerts filtered for current area (by location) or primary location..Version: 7.0.1
Highly recommend! The radar is perfect - past, present and future available - the app is very responsive and well put together. Includes nearby lightning strike warnings and other alerts I haven’t even found yet. Thanks so much to James Spann and team, this is such an incredible service for the people of Alabama!.Version: 7.0.1
Crash Bug!Hi, I love this app so much and now it’s my only “weather” app I have on my phone as far as forecasting goes. I can’t open the app without it crashing right now unfortunately and I’ve tried restarting my phone. Hope we can fix it soon..Version: 7.0.2
A few suggestionsI love the fact that this is dedicated to Alabama weather and being weather aware. I know this is the first day, and upgrades will come. My phone may not always be at hand, but my Apple Watch is always on. I would love to see it be included so I am always weather aware. Also, Live Activities when raining..Version: 7.0.1
So far, so goodOne thing I noticed is that the radar on this app seems to be far more accurate than others. LOVE THAT. Otherwise, it seems like most other weather apps. I’ve come across no issues with anything working incorrectly..Version: 7.0.1
Cleanest weather appThis is by far the cleanest weather app I’ve interacted with. No banners or annoying pop ups. The ads are embedded into the video feed seamlessly, and there’s no hangups with navigating through the app. Television networks should look at this app because this how they should model theirs..Version: 7.0.1
Great weather teamWas sad to see James leave abc 33/40, until I realized they were launching this. Now you get the same great coverage for the whole state, regardless of which tv market you’re in. Other areas will learn to love him..Version: 7.0.4
Must have weather app for Alabama peps.App works awesome. Very easy to use and tons of useful information. The alerts when active weather is close by your location is a nice touch. The only weather app I use now..Version: 7.0.1
Great App!Love James Spann this app is awesome and works well. Only app I use for weather. Love the live video too. Just one thing I wish they’d add (even though it doesn’t matter) is time of sunrise and sunset. Besides that, 5 out of 5.Version: 7.0.6
Love this appI love the fact that I can see current radar, weekly forecasts, check up on weather blogs, and live weather reporting from “the man with a plan James Spann!”.Version: 7.0.6
Amazing so far so good!!!!!!!!!!!I looked at the radar to see when it would rain and it said that it would rain at 930 and it rained at 920 that is the best radar I have seen so far..Version: 7.0.1
AccurateIt’s cloudy right now, writing this review. The Weather App on my iPhone says it’s raining. The Alabama Weather Network says it’s cloudy. Easy win..Version: 7.0.1
