This seriously needs fixedI love discord and use it daily. but with recent updates it has been extremely frustrating to use and difficult to do basic things, such as type and send a message. the text box is so glitchy. when trying to type a message, it doesn't expand with the amount of text so you have to wait for it to hurry up and realize "hey, there's more text coming" unless you want to risk typing blindly and making a bunch of typos. another thing is the new menu bar at the bottom when you swipe to look at dms or server members. if you try to go back to the conversation you're currently in, it either slides to the members in the conversation tab and is impossible to view the conversation itself, or it stays over the screen and blocks you from the conversation, causing you to have to restart the app. this happens quite frequently, and it frustrates me to no end. now, i realize that my phone may be the issue. i have an iphone 6, and i know it isn't exactly what you would consider a new phone by any means, but a messaging/calling app should NOT be the one app i can't run. i miss discord's simplicity, not only because it ran much smoother on my phone, but because that's all discord needed. i could talk to my friends, either by text or vc, and that's all i needed. tl;dr -- bring back the simpler discord. it's friendly to all phones and doesn't have all of the unnecessary junk. i get that aesthetics are important to an extent, but when they make usage of the app almost impossible for some, i think it's time to find a new aesthetic..AaaaaaaaauwuVersion: 47.0

Recent updates seem to have lost the people’s interestRecently the app has gone through many changes, and here I am. I’d like to say with the update that was pushed to my phone today, it is extremely hard to do much. The media list of people online was hard to find, the separation between servers and messages feels just plain wrong, the removal of numbers. I’ve been using discord since 2018, so maybe I’m being picky. But it seems Discord as a company doesn’t want to listen to its ‘consumer’ anyways. There was negative feedback about the removal of the number system for usernames, the altering links feature which can lead to scamming and hacking, and the lash back about the most recent UI changes. While I understand that company has to have integrity and be able to reason, I feel that in some stances the Discord company can’t see that certain changes might affect their platform negatively. My number one concern is that Discord isn’t listening to its users, you can be firm and have a middle ground. Some of the changes aren’t the end of the world, none of them are. But sometimes the changes can seriously endanger the users, if said users aren’t careful enough. That being said, the new update of separation of servers and DMs is annoying, the almost inability to find server members and their current online status is so, so infuriating as someone who checks this feature often. Oh, and to put it rather blunt, the new UI is very ugly. Wifi vs DataI’ve had Discord for years, since 2017 and not had a lot of issues with the site other than bots at the time which has gotten a little better ig. I’ve always been able to use Discord with fairly easy use and consistency for the past years, but I’ve also have had wifi for the most part and even being off wifi in the past it has been good before with little issues. Now, recently, I’ve been coming across multiple issues. I now have no Wifi and have been using Data full time and it has become such a pain to use. I have Nitro and had it for a year now and for the past 6 months on data and it uses so much Data for one, I’m glad the clear cache is added but doesn’t do much or even really work and still have to uninstall the app when necessary ( apple problem ). The issues I have is messages refusing to load and send at all and can take up to an hour to send one message and have had messages continuously duplicate after each hard reset which is really annoying. Hard resets to the app does not reset the app all the time and takes many and multiple attempts even after waiting a minute or two. Trying to send photos which can and will take longer than an hour just to send or even load and gods forbid I send more than one photo at a time. I’ve had issues with false notifications, and issues with them not going away even after checking and hard restarting the app, multiple times. Don’t fix what ain’t broke— unless it’s to make it better.I honestly can’t understand what is so WRONG with this new ui. First of all, it is now infinitely easier to see what your friends are playing. I used to have so much trouble seeing whether my friends were online, and it just became so much easier (I also LOVE that the icon of the game they're playing is now so much bigger and more visible). I also like how you separated your DMs and your servers. I used to hate having to scroll up the server list to access my DMs, as I am in a ton of servers, so thank you, discord. I do admit it is a bit weird how now you cannot simply swipe left to see who is online in a server, but you can easily adjust to that. I also love how when you enter a server, the server bar just disappears. It makes things look so much less cluttered and makes it a lot easier to navigate the channels. So really, this new ui is awesome, and I have no idea what people are on about. I also noticed that people are saying this new update is… buggy? I have no idea what they are on about, as I currently own an iPhone 11 that has been in heavy use by me AND my sister over the last ten years, including multiple cracks on the back due to the multiple times my sister has dropped it, but discord runs perfectly fine. It is most likely a software problem if discord is crashing— just update your software to at least iOS 16 (for apple users, samsung users, sorry you’re on your own ;P) So overall, I think this was an awesome update, and it really made the mobile discord a whole better experience. Please listen DiscordI love using you as a platform. You’re awesome, you do well, but with some of these recent updates for ios, I think everyone I know feels the same way when I say it’s concerning. Let me explain: so for maybe a month now, you introduced call kit. You guys may have seen this as a bright idea, and on paper, it is. But this kind of change was unneeded, unwanted, and thus had a more negative effect overall. It got so annoying to the point I decided to never call someone unless I was on PC. Because otherwise, I’d feel like my privacy could be “breached” as others could see I was on discord, didn’t feel right, and it was glitchy, along with it showing up in the calls section of the phone app. I don’t want that. And now, changing how leaving a call or vc works. I understand it’s a move to make it more like PC so when you leave, it gives a little notification, but not everyone wanted that on phone. Where it can be loud and irritating. And worse: no option to turn it off unless you remove it from PC then turn off sync. I do believe this could 100% be a 5 star app (in my eyes, I understand a 4.8 is good enough), but making these out of no where changes without warning or second thoughts feels... off. I’m gonna try and do the little sync trick I thought of and hope it works. I really hope this changes. I Love DiscordI have never written a review before, for anything. But Discord has become one of the best ways to communicate to my teams that I have built over the past year, I just can’t not write a review about this app. Discord itself has changed my life as cliche as it sounds, but it’s true. Discord has been the stepping stones that led to bigger things, exponentially. First starting using it to keep in touch with a couple friends, which turned into a hangout for a few more friends I met online, to turning into making a server for a clan for clan related stuff, which has now developed into a server for development of a game in production, that can earn me real money doing what I love to do, with those same few people I mentioned earlier. This means of communications is terrific. The app version doesn’t have as many features compared to PC (access to audit logs, not as easy to navigate in, ), but it is pretty much just as good if those things are overlooked, or if mobile is just temporary while you are away from your keyboard. Not only are you able to make your own servers for your own reasons, you are able to customize your server name, picture, voice chat with others with pristine connection, chat channels to keep your chat organized, permissions to who has access to what whether that is channels, roles, even permissions; what you do with your server is up to you. Great for management, a hangout for your friends, .. a development team, how you use discord is literally only limited to your imagination. Bugs need some workI use discord everyday, and I believe discord is one of the best apps to text, talk, and video call on. But does not mean there aren’t a lot of bugs, I have no clue why but sometimes when I’m on voice chat with my friends I try to show them some sound on another device, and they can never hear it? I turn off the Krisp option each time when I’m on vc because it will sometimes block my voice if I talk to quiet. But discord has no problem showing sounds that come from outside my apartment that my friend can hear (planes, cars, etc.) I hope this feature can be fixed because I do not like any other apps to voice chat. Another problem I’ve had is that sometimes features on the Chrome or safari version are not on the app? It’s a major inconvenience to turn off automatic emojis I had to log into discord on chrome, make this option on the app version. There are a lot of small bugs that happen on this app, like sometimes when I change tabs and go back to discord while on vc the app freezes to the point I have to close it and open it again. Messages also will get stuck not sending, I’m not blaming my Wi-Fi for that because I have good Wi-Fi connection and I have data so this is 100% a discord problem. My general thoughtsIt’s a good overall app, I use it for gaming, entertainment, work, etc. but like another review said, it has a sharp learning curve which is hard to learn for some. Also, there are a lot of scamming bots on the app that pretend to be women that I find on apps like Gamerlink, Psn, Twitch, that say to add their account on Discord. It’s a massive problem for those who battle addiction to porn or people who are gullible (I am not one of them). I think that there might need to be an optional tutorial that pops up when you first get the app that shows you where things are and warns you about bots and such. I enjoy the app because I have learned it, creating servers and adding bots is a very surreal experience because it’s like you make your own little town of people. Many still fall for the chatbots and the incapability of learning the app. Some of my close friends tried the app and hated it for the reasons I’ve just mentioned. My friends and I agree that the chatbots are more of a nuisance to people trying to experience the immersive capabilities of the app/ community bots. I understand the Nitro/ Subscription, but I feel like there should be the ability to purchase something’s separate, having more tiers of subscription for different usage niches. Follow up to my previous reviewsJust wanted to say I’m sorry for getting all worked up before. I should have done a bit more research and also could have worded my concerns better. While I may be sorry for how I expressed my concerns, I still stand by what I said overall! Although from what I’ve learned recently, it seems you are currently working on new features that help to keep discord as safe as possible, while also giving users the tools to keep themselves safe as well! While I’m still cautious of course, I’m glad you guys are actually trying to help keep the platform safe, and being more transparent about things and giving users the tools to be as safe as well! Mostly alright, new update is ambiguousThis is mainly to address the ambiguous ness of the NSFW IOS ban, since it’s not very clearly outlined. On IOS alone, servers with NSFW content are unable to be viewed now except by mods and owners. Now, the issue with this is that a server doesn’t necessarily need to be NSFW, but simply have a channel as such that can be accessed on it. One of my friends had an NSFW channel in his server, and told me his server was inaccessible because of it. Now, the issue I have with it is that many channels designated as such are not necessarily pornographic channels, but simply oriented for, let’s say, not very politically correct content. And because of that NSFW marking, servers can be shut down even if it isn’t for porno material. Discord should simply reestablish some form of age verification rather than butcher numerous servers because of an unnecessarily ambiguous and broad label. The main complaint is with the Apple store, who does not allow content with such labels on their store, so rather than monitor who can have what, it’s simply a moniker of nobody is allowed, and that punishes those who are allowed to normally access said content unjustly. Sure, that sort of stuff doesn’t have to be your thing, just as it isn’t mine, but people who do take some interest in it shouldn’t be punished by having servers shut down over an ambiguous rule meant to keep kids out of where they shouldn’t be. One suggestionEverything about this app is great and i have a way to talk with my friends out of school! But I just suggest you change something about your limitations unless users get nitro: please make it so everyone regardless of owning nitro or not can change their banner to an image? I understand if it’s better to have people want to earn nitro with orbs or buy it but it really seems like a shameless cash grab for changing banners to an image. If you let users do this without nitro required i guarantee you WILL see more people using this app, because when people are able to change their profile banner it shows who they are, because most images people have are from how they feel and their personality, if that makes sense. It shows diversity. And this way it gets people more motivated to talk to others, giving you more people that would want to use your app. So please, make it so those without nitro can also change their profile banner (most people who have nitro mainly get it so they can change the banner to an image!) Integrated Phone CallsDiscord is an amazing app that lets you do casual conversations without the loud notifications you would usually get from text messages. It does an amazing job at keeping notifications hidden when you want them to be. But I cannot say the same for calls. Recently, Discord started integrating their calls with actual phone calls. This means that every time I get called on Discord, it goes through to my ringtone. The whole reason I use Discord is to keep my online life separate from my personal life. Although there is a setting that allows you to disable this feature, I still get the ringtone. Whenever I get called on Discord, even though the app is closed, I still get a ringtone. I even have all notifications turned off in my settings. The ringtone only lasts about 2 seconds before it realizes that it should not be there, but it gets pretty annoying, since it forces me to stop whatever i’m doing on my phone. What annoys me the most is that this issue has been fixed before. The previous update had the setting that disabled the integrated phone calls, but it actually did its job, unlike this recent update. I had no calls going through no matter how much I was getting spammed with calls. I thought this problem would be gone forever, but it still managed to find its way back. Please, please bring back the private call optionSure, Discord is much better in terms of quality, but by far my biggest complaint is the removal of the private mode option while calling people. I deserve a right to privacy, as does everyone else, and it’s too loud for that to be an option. Other people can hear my conversations and it’s very bothersome. I miss having the option between the two. Don’t fix something that isn’t broken please! Otherwise, there’s this constant bug with webcams/ turning on your camera. sometimes it never loads and you have to turn it off and on to get it to work properly. I’ve had to do this up to 3 times maximum to get it to work finally, which is nothing at first, but becomes annoying. Finally, (most likely not 100% discord’s fault, you can ignore this if you want) the connection seems to be getting worse. I used to love discord for the quality of the calls, but several times a week the quality becomes so bad that I have to restart the call several times to understand a sentence the recipient. The most common connection issue is definitely the that audio seems to skip out entirely for a few seconds sometimes. Used to be betterI am going to say this off the bat, discords desktop app is great and I have, thus far, no complaints. The mobile app is a different story. Things started going downhill when swiping to the left stopped showing server members. It’s been years and I have yet to unlearn the muscle memory from this switch. Now swiping left allows you to reply to messages (when you can just type in the chat but idk). Now you have to tap on the text channel you’re in to view the server members. Now text chat is almost unusable. Being told that multiple messages haven’t been posted when they are obviously visible when views in desktop. Seeing duplicates of the same post after you delete the “message couldn’t be posted” prompt. Those same prompts moving to the bottom of the chat each time I open the app so I have to scroll up to view new messages. It’s slowly becoming a nightmare to keep tabs on the servers I’m active in when I’m away from my pc. I don’t care about SpongeBob skins I have to pay for (I have nitro btw) when your mobile app is a broken mess that gets worse with each update. If I hadn’t built my friend groups around discord during covid I would’ve moved apps by now. On an unrelated note, tying number of soundboard sounds to server boosts is dumb. Okay, but mobile keeps glitchingI like Discord because the app allowed me to meet many people and get myself involved with different activities but during texting sometimes the “connecting” makes it glitch and then my messages can’t be sent at all. I could easily leave the app and refresh it but it’s a pain when it happens all the time. I’m afraid one day the app would kick me out and all of my text would disappear, my time wasted. Every update I hope this gets fixed but I heard Discord isn’t very efficient in fixing their app compare to their desktop version. I do update it, but it’s no use when the same issue arises over and over again. Please fix it. It used to not do this before and if I knew this was going to happen I wouldn’t have updated the app. But then that would prevent me from other perks like background gifs and each individual server pfp from Nitro. I’m usually on mobile because of how convenient it is to bring around the house and when I go out so I use it more than desktop. Please read thisFrom the very beginning, I have had numerous problems with this app. The only reason I am giving it two stars is because when it does work, it is phenomenal. When I first got the app, it wouldn’t let me join the server I wanted to and said I was banned (even though I’d never used the app before). I re-downloaded the app recently because I was joining a clan and they required discord. I got the app and I was still logged into my old account, which was glitched, so I created a new one. I actually had to create that account on my browser because the app didn’t even let me do that. I created my account and tried to login on the app, no success. I’ve re-downloaded the app numerous times since then and still, no success logging in. Luckily, my browser still works and I use that to chat with my clan. Unfortunately, even when I turn my phone sideways, I can’t see all of the writing because it shows all the members of the group on the right hand side and it takes up half of the screen. Then, I have to read downwards one letter at a time and I don’t have the patience for that, especially with all of the scrolling it requires. If I could get on the app and not have to worry about that, I would have no complaints, but this simple fix is ruining the entire app for me. Yeah okay uhm whatUsually Discord is great, I’ve had it for several years and it’s pretty great for most things. But this new mobile app style update has got me all messed up. It looks bulky and gross, it seems that discord has fallen victim to the Facebook effect where every (mobile) app tries to look the same. It has its pros but to be blunt it’s not good looking and the interface is hard to use especially with the separate tabs for severs and messages. All of the available options being in separate places makes it feel very bulky and the way calls look now is just honestly bad and the message options/information interface is even worse. I appreciate they are trying to change and the time it must have taken but it’s just outright bad. Discord, like all apps, need bug fixes and such like the status’ being weird, but the actual user interface and styling of the app was simple and easy to use so why it’s been changed is beyond me. I understand why it’s 13+ but you also have to understand:I understand why this app is 13+ but you have to understand that there are minors who are more mature then most. Like me for example, at the age of 12 I already knew everything there is to know about internet safety and everything about sex. Ex. At the age of 10 I already knew about safety, how to do it properly and everything else. Now these minors of this generation have access the the internet and learn things faster. There could be a 5 year old with the mind and maturity of a 21 year old. These minors are now maturing faster the the people of the older generations because they have access the the internet and can learn things. Also, when someone is reported for being under 13 don’t ban their account. You’re trying to keep minors safe but most just use this platform to make friends and get support. And if you want to keep it safer maybe look at the reports people put on accounts. Please consider lowering the age limit to 11+. Issues/maybe add-insI love using discord, great to talk to friends on here, but i have one problem is that whenever I’m on call with my friends and I’m away from my phone either they wanna call a group chat or someone calls me I don’t hear it saying that this person or group chat name is calling me and I never know until I go to my phone and notice it later that someone call me or I have to manually go back to my phone and join the call, I don’t know if it’s just me but it’s been happening for a while and when I’m not in a call and off of discord and someone calls me I hear it saying that this person is calling me, just not when I’m already in a call, which it did before. Good and all, but one small issueNot quite sure if this is just a “my phone” thing, or a “recent discord update” thing, but I noticed after some time that images I try to send from my gallery in the app directly will not show up with a preview like they do now. Instead, it’ll show up as a file being sent, as in like, a webp-esq file where you can’t see it and have to open it externally. Except for the fact that they just DON’T send. At all. As an artist, this is very problematic for me, but I found a workaround where I just copy images from my gallery app to paste them on discord, which sends them normally and without issue. While inconvenient, it’s all I can do until there’s a future update where it could get fixed. On top of that there’s my role icons disappearing every time I send a message, the random freezing often whenever I open the servers or members tab, and the occasional crashing. I do wish discord calls themselves weren’t treated like phone calls where my screen darkens and the sound quality is terrible, but I’m not sure how much can be done about that, or if it’s just something iOS does. Great app except for a couple of issuesI’ve been using Discord for quite a while now and overall it’s a really good app. However, although it’s mostly accessible with screen readers it needs some improvements. For one, when a person sends a text even if they wind down a couple of times it’ll still read the text as one complete block. This is a problem because for super long posts it is really hard to read the whole thing. The second problem is that when using voiceover if you try to move the cursor automatically jumps to the button to exit the channel you are in. For me at least, this can make it very difficult to scroll through the channels messages and it’ll do this while I’m trying to write a message as well. Okay but always bugsI love the idea of discord and it is my primary communication choice when gaming or on my pc. However, every update brings more and more bugs that just never seem to get fixed. Some of the most frustrated bugs/features right now are when you are in a video call on mobile and leave the app or leave the full screened mode and then return to the call it makes your camera the full screen and your friend the smaller one. Then double tapping their picture doesn’t always make them bigger you have to double tap then click the full screen button. It’s really annoying. There has also been a bug that causes the camera to be upside down and you can’t even lock your phone and flip it over because it’ll change the rotation anyway. Now, if I have discord open I. Great app but.....I got this app roughly a year ago and it is great, you can connect to any counity you want and even create your own server if you are selling or promoting something. On the other hand, there are things called "server nukes" or some people call it "raids" and basically people will join into your server abd somehow gain permissions to edit channels and completely destroy your server. There are easy ways to protect against this like adding security apps but I won't get into that. My main problem is how many payments are required for basic work, if you want to send a file larger than 10mb then you have to buy discord nitro which isn't cheap, along with that you have to buy discord nitro in order to customize your profile and make it more like your style. Another issue is "server boosting", if you want to unlock special perks for your server, you or other people can boost your server and reach different levels that unlock special features for your server. Not that bad right? Wrong. Each boost runs out after a very short amount of time and boosting costs quite a bit, this means that it would cost like $100 a month to maintain your server perks. Recent problemsI’ve been using discord for about 2 years now and recently I’ve been having multiple problems, be it screen share not working as intended and closing my application, over heating problems or discord closing while I’m in other apps. Still missing needed featuresMonths after the UI update, many features are still missing. Swiping right to left in a chat to open the member list still is missing, and an experiment appears to show they want that to function as some kind of search, rather than be at parity with how discord works on desktop and mobile web. Compact mode doesn’t exist in the app, making tons of unused space and large profile icons, when on desktop and mobile web you can focus on whats important; the actual messages. There is no theme as far as i can tell that uses the same coloration as desktop and mobile web; instead of the iconic greys, theres light, black, and amoled black. The text input remains tiny with multiple unused buttons that could be folded into the “+” menu already on the bar. The ui has made some improvements, like servers being in a column like on desktop and mobile web, but hasnt come as far as one would expect after several months of feedback. Besides loading faster than mobile web, i cant see any benefit to using the app at this point. Absolutely awful new mobile layoutLook, I get that Discord is known to get criticized for every new feature they add before people eventually move on because they realize it wasn't that bad (think back to when when they made the logo symmetrical or when they changed the font). But this is the first time in my three years of using Discord that I've genuinely felt that an update made me want to uninstall the app. Yesterday I'd have rated the app 5 stars, and today I rate it a 2. The app went from great to clunky, messy, and less usable overnight, which makes me wonder: How? How is this even slightly necessary for improving user experience? Each update makes the UI worseExactly as title says. Removal of buttons, removing swipe to see userlist and replacing it with making a thread (which is annoying at best and actively detrimental at worst, especially for those with disabilities), shrinking the size of text, changing the location of server settings, user settings, and user settings WITHIN a server, changing how search functions (you have to click the main server’s search bar to search through the whole server. If you click the search in a channel it exclusively searches that channel. for a while i thought it was now impossible to search an entire server because of how unintuitive this is. The search works worse now, too.). Most things now require you to click two separate things just to get there, much less actually perform the action you want. Again, this is annoying at best, and actively detrimental at worse. What about people that struggle with fine motor function? What about the visually impaired? Everything is small and inconvenient. It’s way too easy to misclick, or to not know where something is and have to fruitlessly search a bunch of menus just to realize it was somewhere else entirely. The fact Discord keeps changing the location of buttons (and outright removing the dm button from the button of the screen, most recently) certainly doesn’t help. The latest UI is a step backwardsThe new user interface has a weird flow. It used to be that new direct messages would appear at the top of your server list, which means you were able to keep your attention on one section of the app. Now direct messages can only be accessed from a separate part of the app that’s accessed from the footer. Now you have to keep your attention not only on the server list to monitor for new activity, but also on the footer, and the footer doesn’t tell you who you’ve received messages from in the same way the old system did (where profile pictures would populate at the top of the server list). Now one must navigate into the direct messages directory in order to see who they’ve received messages from, which takes you out of the familiar Discord interface. You cannot access the server sidebar from here. Before you were able to easily return to the server listing by swiping your direct message to the right, just as you would a server channel. Now swiping away a message reveals the direct messages listing. Now one must take the additional step of tapping on the servers icon in the footer. This may not sound so bad, but it really breaks the seamless flow prior versions of the app had, not only because of the additional inputs, but because of the added spatial and relational complexity. Good app, but the recent design decisions have been abhorrent.I have been using the app since 2016 or 2017. The recent layout update on mobile is extremely counter-intuitive, and they have switched everything around and honestly it just looks way too much like a copy of Instagram. These designers are pretty much sucking what made Discord unique and nice to use out of it, turning it into any other bog standard chatting platform. Recently, they have switched around where the DMs are (which I can understand for accessibility reasons), but have removed the ability to swipe to see member lists of servers and group chats, instead putting that under a button at the top of the screen which is quite counterintuitive and only makes it more annoying to check. Additionally, they have removed the intuitiveness of the DMs part, where you can swipe back and forth--Instead, now you can only swipe back out of a chat and do not get to partly see the chat you were most recently in on the side and swipe back in to quickly respond to a new message. Additionally, clicking on the Messages button also no longer brings you directly back into the chat you were last in, requiring one extra click which becomes really inconvenient if, like me, you often tab between messages and servers. I would love to see this and the other small ease-of-use features added back, they were among my favorite parts of the app and what made it unique to me. Mobile UI ChangeThe new Discord app UI is user unfriendly, unintuitive, and even harmful to light-sensitive users. The new dark theme causes headaches because of the poorly balanced contrast. Navigating the app feels clunky and slow, and makes me frustrated trying to talk to friends and stay on top of conversations in servers. Why have reply be an option in two places: swiping right AND in the tap and hold menu on messages? When on voice, an annoying square pops up and covers part of the UI instead of it being a single swipe away. Losing the easily accessible server members online screen makes me feel like I’ve lost that sense of community that Discord in the past has so well fostered. Why is the reply feature given priority over an entire side menu when it has another place it already exists? If I had Nitro I would have cancelled it, and as it is I’m advising my friends who pay for it to cancel because of their own disappointment in the app. I used to love this app, I used it every day, but now I’m going to stay signed in on a mobile browser and use that instead. Discord’s DoomDiscord was fine before, I don’t know why they bothered to take this unnecessary action. Before I never got bots/spammers somehow adding my account even though there’s no suggestions on adding accounts like Snapchat for example. Even so I still shouldn’t even be getting added by said bots/spammers because there’s this safety thing they make you do to verify if you’re not a bot which is completely useless I’m already seeing because even apparently bots can bypass it. The main issue is that I can’t even use my Discord account because they are forcing me to “change” my email that I didn’t even put in because I registered with my phone number, and they’re saying that my email is somehow already registered when I’m putting in my email and password to verify. I don’t remember registering in with my email and I’m pretty sure I never did. Also I don’t understand why/how putting in my email (personal information) on my Discord account is going to protect me from bots/spammers. I read on why/how but it still didn’t make any sense. In the old version I never put in my email like I said before and I didn’t get any bots/spammers like I said before as well. In all 5 years I have been on discord, over 1826 days, I have not once ever seen anyone complain about how the ui works. It was fine the way it was. In the beta for this you were able to switch back to the original but I don’t see why they removed the option to switch back. It over complicates so many things which were once able to be done in one swipe and a tap. Searching for stuff is absolutely horrific to do, it’s very glitchy sometimes and I had troubles looking up messages from certain people. It used to take about 8 seconds to search something up but now it feels like it takes forever. Checking dm lists is very overwhelming as well, it feels like it’s popping out of the screen and scooping my eyes out with a metal spoon. The color change is an odd choice as well, again, I’ve never once see someone complain about the color of dark mode. I feel like the new dark mode is too dark, especially since there’s a night mode which is basically pitch black. The new layout.I’m going to start this off by saying, I love Discord. I love using it and it has always been one of my go to apps. But, the new layout is not good. And saying it is not good is an understatement. Hence why I give this review only 2 stars. The only reason I have given this review 2 stars and not 1 or no stars at all is because of my respect for Discord. Previously, I would’ve given it all 5 stars, but with the recent update with the new layout it has lost most of my respect. The new layout looks trashy and has made Discord lose its unique charm. Previously, before the new layout update, Discord was unique, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to navigate, but with the new layout it looks tacky, trashy, it is difficult to understand and navigate, and most importantly, it has caused Discord to loose it’s unique touch. The new UI is badThe old UI was easy to navigate. You could actually leave the search menu easily and enter it again. The search menu actually worked. The search menu showed your previous search history and let you simply tap on one search in it to search that same thing again. The old UI had a similar feel to the desktop app. The new UI is difficult to navigate. I find myself having to leave the app and reenter it every time I enter the search menu because I cannot figure out how to leave it otherwise (if there even is a way). It doesn't show your search history anymore, and doesn't show the most recent messages. The desktop app doesn't feel the same as the mobile app anymore, especially since the search menu actually works on desktop. I frequently find myself needing to look back on messages in different channels at the same time by the same person on a server for multiple reasons, including but not limited to, checking an IRL friend of mine's messages to be sure he isn't suicidal because he had a depressive episode last year and stopped going to school for a bit. New UI UpdateI absolutely hate that the messages like group chats and DMs are in a different tab than servers now. there was absolutely nothing broken about the way that it was laid out and displayed before, so there's no reason to "fix" it!! And she was falsely accused of fraud. Even the people that reported apologized and stated that it was the wrong person. So i don’t understand why y'all don’t have the ability to make her have her account back and she’s very sad. Most people made friends and memories in this app and even I did, and i’m sad to see that she can’t go back in the messages to see that. And it’s disappointing to know that you’ll couldn’t even help other appeal their accounts when falsely accused of something. And it’s disappointing to see my friend crying and still crying now. It hurts to see that. And knowing i cant do much but what i know is that i can make a comment and share what just happened. Maybe you could try and actually help the discord community with situations like this because it seems like you guys lack helping people who actually want their accounts back more than people reporting an account that has been falsely accused of fraud. Overwhelming and disorienting new layoutMy main issue is the new layout. Everything is spread out and hidden away in other tabs and buttons making it very overwhelming. Discord is trying to hard to be like other social platforms when it doesn't need to. The old layout worked wonderfully with this new one just being a ripoff of imessages. It might work for other sites but for discord it is completely unnecessary. The size everything takes up is far more for no additional amount of information. The new update makes finding members annoying. Before you could just swipe left and see all the members of a group chat or server. Now it's hidden away at the top which is unnecessary. Not only is it an useless change but the members list is way bigger. This makes it look overwhelming searching for people. The main feature that this update takes away from is the search button. Before it was clear and easy to search for whatever you needed. Now it is more disorganized and unnecessary. My main issue is that you can not search in the entire server anymore and is limited to one channel at a time. This is a major flaw that takes away from the fluidity of the search feature. For servers with many channels, which is most of them, it is a pain to find what you were looking for. New Mobile layoutI get your trying to make the new Discord layout more convenient for everyone, but some people find the old layout more convenient than this one. This update isn't like your other discord updates that have minor fixes and upgrades, this completely revamped how things work on discord. Layout is very important for any app company to have it efficient and convenient for users. I know this is what you tried to do but it really isnt doing well. The discord layout has been the same for a very ling time and a sudden change like this makes it seem very clunky and annoying. I hate how all the notifications and everything are so up front and big as well as the buttons. The new layout completely ruins the uniqueness that many people liked about the old Discord layout. The new layout looks a lot like other social media layouts and is incredibly off putting as the old discord layout was very iconic. If you were going to make such a sudden change like this at least give us the opportunity to switch layouts like you had in a previous version. No customer serviceI will start this review by saying that I haven’t actually been able to use discord. I downloaded the app for a school class but when prompted to verify my number, it wouldn’t accept it because it was linked with another account. So, I went through the process of trying to find an account I had created years prior. In the meantime I contacted support and got a very quick robot response telling me to do exactly what I had just done. I found the old accounts and deleted them. However, that wasn’t enough. Apparently when you press delete on an account it takes an additional 14 days before discord actually deletes it. A day later, support for back to me and told me that I needed to send a copy of the error message I was receiving (even though I had already stated it in the last email). So I did. And a day later I still have received no response. I had to sort this issue out myself and eventually found that simply deleting the account wouldn’t remove the phone number associated with it. Finally to remove a phone number from an account I had to add ANOTHER email in the process - further convoluting the account issue. And finally, after 20 to 30 “account verifications”, 4 password resets, zero help from discord- I had access to a discord account. A whole 3 days later. All of this could’ve been resolved if I had access to someone at discord who knew a lick about user accounts and how to immediately delete them..FuqmyassunderarmorVersion: 113.0

Change for the sake of change.I’ve been using discord for about 5-6ish years now and it’s been home to a ton of great friendships and stories, or rather, it’s been my home on the internet if you will. I appreciate some of the new features that were added in the latest update, but it also feels like Discord is loosing its identity and is now trying to be like the various other chat platforms available across the AppStore. The iconic grey was changed to a boring blueish color that makes the app have some visual accessibility issues in many places. The intuitive card layout from before is now broken with swipe gestures for the reply feature. I think some of this is just because it’s hard to get used to change, but I really feel like discord is changing things away from what their initial experience was. It used to be home, and now I see no reason to use it over something like telegram or Snapchat, seeing as it’s trying to just be some other chat app. Devs at Discord, thank you for the work you’ve put in. I appreciate all the little animations and how hard you’ve probably worked on this, but creating so much change all at once was not the way to do it. A great way to fix this all would be to add more personalization to the app in settings; a toggle to go back to the old grey color for people who have a hard time reading with this new one, a toggle to switch layouts, something like that. Keeps crashing and marking unread messages as read.I like Discord for what it offers, but the iOS app crashes randomly whenever I try to load a picture, gif, song, or other upload someone else posted, and crashes when I try to post pictures quite frequently. I know that a lot of people upload stuff, so the fact that it crashes as often as it does is a major concern for me. Another issue is that the app has decided to randomly mark all messages in random chat channels as read when I open them, even though I’ve still got dozens to read before I reach the end of the string. Or I’ll be reading the messages, and suddenly it marked all messages as read, to include ones that happen while I’m reading, and not even remotely caught up. It happens randomly, so I don’t even know what might be the issue. It might happen to a chat every time I open it, or just once in a while but it’s a bug I want to see gone. Being tagged in a message, and then having that indicator removed randomly is an issue. I don’t always have time to read everything in one sitting, so I want to be assured that I can read it later. It is a major issue when it starts you over at the end of the conversation, and doesn’t save from where you had to leave off. (This is mostly for my admin duties on servers.) Boring app 👍🏼They messed up when they added verification and limited system I see the future of discord will be down in the near future if they don’t remove the limiter and verification and just have a face verification checker would be much better instead of ID. Like a face checker that can know if you’re a real person or not by going left or right like how Instagram does it. We should go back to 2018 discord version where it was the most highest and popular at that time. I could send over 1,000 friend requests without getting my account limited or muted for spam because adding random people shouldn’t be a cause for spam just spamming direct messages should be a cause of spam. Now this will be the biggest issue why no one will use discord in the year of 2028 is my prediction. Yikes..I've been using discord for around 2/3 years now and honestly back in the old days it used to be cool. Nothing was wrong with the app, call feature was fine and everything. After the recent update on phones, joining a call turns your originally 'on call' red bad near the top green, and initiates it like a phone call or FaceTime. It's annoying, I can't turn my phone off without hanging up or not being able to check my notifications. Not to mention, I have to restart the app and join again to rid of that feature AND to actually communicate with whoever I'm on a call with, because it glitches out and they can't hear me, vice versa. Putting in “list” view on a separate page ruins the whole hierarchal aspect of things, and it makes the role system seem less important.
