My Aurora Forecast & Alerts Customer Service

I have never witnessed the aurora before. After getting this app, I’ve seen them 4 times in the last year, and more to come. The alerts it gives helps me know when they’re coming before everyone posts them on Facebook. The probability map and cloud map are some of the best features they have! The probability map is color coded for quick identification of how likely you are to see the lights, and the cloud map is great for when you can’t see outside just yet but want to know if it’s worth going out in the cold. I wish they could work with NOAA or whoever else they need to to create a cloud prediction map, so rather than just real time it would show when the clouds would clear up or come in to give you the best viewing window possible. It would be great for people prepping for the night time. Also the links they offer to northern lights chasing trips are phenomenal. Currently saving to take the spouse on a vacation. The wide variety of locations and all for great prices make for an amazing selection. Honestly this is a very well put together app, and I would recommend this app to anyone who has even the slightest interest in viewing the aurora, or even people who have no interest because they might have some interest after hearing about it. Thank you developers for all you do, and for helping more people see God’s beautiful art in the sky!

I like that even with the free version you can still get notifications for what your preferences are on what kp index’s are expected based on your location and if they may be visible in the next hour, future kp index’s, forecasts really cloud cover % chance is helpful too and to be updated if you have a chance to see them based on your preferences on what minimum kp and higher index. The Aurora map is interesting to see where the most accurate map possible and reports from people who are currently seeing them and their general location. I just love looking up at the sky and especially LOVE seeing the Aurora Borealis 🥰 So I have used this app for a while now and it’s been worth going out for when I would be notified, or even when I looked at the future forecast and they was a pretty good chance that when we going camping just outside of the Boundary Waters and they were out and we saw that streak of white mist going from west to east and my iPhone 11 was picking up the colors and the misty wider streak was purple with green little streaks going towards the north. I think it’s Steve’s Streak(?), something I saw a couple weeks later about it and I guess it’s rare to see!!! It was a very cool night of shooting star, satellites, and Aurora in the sky …

I used this app while planning, and then enjoying, a trip through Iceland. It is a well-done app that is nicely laid out in a straightforward manner. I got the pro version just to get rid of the ads. I got value from using the app so that was worth it. Overall the app was of good use while in the wilderness in predicting the aurora most days. My only qualm is one night I was in the middle of Thingvellir national park late at night, with 100% cloud cover and no aurora in sight. The app alerted and also had a high KP forecast and showed no cloud cover in my location. IMO That’s no fault of the app, though, because the aurora and weather) are elusive. It’s just to say don’t rely 100% on the accuracy of the app. Before my trip I looked at a few apps and this was one was the best and least complicated of all.

This is seriously a fantastic app. The people who made it rock. It has some flaws that I’m not going to bother mentioning, because this freaking app is free, and the flaws don’t ruin the incredible experience. It NOTIFIES ME when I might be able to see the Aurora!!!! It LITERALLY TELLS ME when to run outside and potentially check this event off my bucket list. And then put it back on because I can’t get enough. It helps figure out where to go. Cloud coverage. Approximate times of the solar storm. Approx location of the storm. It has been insanely helpful for me thus far. You can change your location to get updates there if you are planning a trip or something. Etc etc etc.

In the last week or so, I’ve been getting “Missing Data”where the bottom two of four images would be for forecasted viewing possibilities should be. Using iPhone. Does anyone have an answer to this issue? When I select Aurora Map, second image in description for app, then click on the icon on upper right, I would get your images showing forecasted maps. The bottom two images would show how far south the aurora might be seen. Now it’s just “missing data”. My friend who has a Samsung phone is getting the same thing.

I would never have known when the Aurora’s would be visible without this app. It has been amazing to see them for the first time. Now, both my daughters also have the app and we have enjoyed sending pictures back-and-forth when the northern lights are visible. The things in life people pass by without realizing. With this app, it brought awareness and I have witnessed the most amazing and beautiful skies. It still helps to look to the sky with your phone or camera, but this fall I could actually see him with my naked eye ,thanks to the help from this app.

I live in Alaska, with easy access to the Aurora Borealis, the catch is that I live in Anchorage which has light pollution. So with the App, I check the forecast, KP index and other factors that help me plan of my Aurora watching nights. It’s pretty accurate, even with my local weather, conditions & cloud cover info, hour by hour. Even the weather forecaster up here doesn’t come close to getting our weather right. I find other local Aurora watchers post the app’s forecast to notify other watchers-Plus the Aurora gallery from around the world is spectacular 🤩

I love this app. I’ve had it for a few years it’s very accurate and it never disappoints. I love getting the timely notifications, percent chance of seeing auroras based on location, cloud coverage, and pin drops for where people are seeing them. I really love that it’s truly free and there is no subscription required in addition to nearly zero annoying ads, only a banner at the bottom. I hope this app stays subscription free with minimal ads.

This is the best aurora app for northern lights that I have ever found!! Would highly recommend this to anyone who hasn’t seen the northern lights that would want to stay informed if they’re able to see it in their location!! This app kept me informed & did a fantastic job of alerting me when I was able to see the northern lights in my area!! I really love the probability map to see if your area is covered when the northern lights are viewable!! Definitely keeping this app!!

It would be awesome if they could add a section where people could post sightings/locations near you, I am imagining that in the app you could set it to show sightings within a certain radius of your location, this would be really helpful for nights in place like Minnesota(northern US) where it is not too often that we can see the AB, and so we can be sure that there are sightings tonight that would make some of the less risk takers among us to be assured that we could see them on that night.

So basically on Friday the 10th I just got told that a massive Solar Storm was going to hit Earth and that in my area there would be a good chance of seeing the Auroras. When I downloaded the app I got told what the KP index was and to see when it was best to go out. Well when it was time I took my chance to see it with my friend and…WOW it was amazing. Thanks to the app I knew when it was best to see it. Just a little heads up.. the area I live in doesn’t get the Auroras. So I would definitely give this 5 stars.

I, unfortunately, live in Southern California so I'm not able to see the aurora in person, but I am an aurora live cam junkie. This app is super useful in letting me know where the best places to tune in from are, how active I can expect the aurora to be in the coming days, and it alerts me to auroras in the place I've set as home. I wish I could set multiple places for alerts, but the 'find best places to watch' function is nearly as good. If you're an aurora borealis lover and dreamer, this app is necessary.

The app is one of those rare apps that is both useful and easy to use. Unfortunately on one of its biggest nights, it let us down. I actually saw a major Aurora in WA state during the May 11, 2024 solar storm so I reported the sighting. The report never was used apparently because despite the aurora being seen my millions in the US last night it only showed straight lines of sighting pins in Canada. So something is definitely NOT working right with that feature!

Seeing the aurora in person has been a dream of mine and ever since moving to Nebraska from Arizona I’d hoped to see them. A few years with no luck I was sitting at home and a notification came through that auroras were likely visible in my area. I rushed outside and was greeted by red green and magenta lights streaking across the sky. I would have gone to bed and missed them. Thank you for making such a wonderful application.

The Aurora app is a fun, informative offering that allows those lacking the meteorology gene easily to keep a finger on the pulse of the northern night skies. It’s great shortcoming, however, is that it operates almost totally in the “now.” For example at mid-day in my locale it is not surprising to learn that there is no possibility whatsoever of enjoying the northern lights. (I don’t need an app to tell me that!). What would be most useful would be if it Aurora projected into the future, so that it might give me some idea at noon as to whether a later, 3:00 a.m. trek into the back yard might be fruitful.

We specifically came to iceland to see the northern lights. We had no luck on a bus trip or on a boat cruise. I downloaded this app. When in Reykoldt in West Iceland, I received an alert that there was a high likelihood they would be visible in an hour. The forecast was spot on. Visibility started at the time predicted and ended due to cloud coverage 30 minutes later. Our entire tour group cheered and I was the heroine who allowed it to happen thanks to Aurora.

If you want to know when an Aurora can be expected in your area, this is an app. It gives you a number scale of high likely you are to see an Aurora in your area. Good app and highly recommended. Another feature of the app is the forecast section. This gives you information on the Sun itself such as solar wind conditions.

I have used this app for years on different phones and it works great. My current phone seems to not have accurate location like my last iphone did. Maps has issues too so I think it’s the phone, but it still is useful when trying to figure out where mars is or about where the moon is. It’s fun too, and I like the music.

Once a bucket list item of mine, actually witnessing the Northern Lights when they’re visible where I live has become a regular occurrence due to this app. The timely warning is spot on to get me out of my bed and outside to see the lights. I know so little about all the scientific information the app also provides, use it regularly to learn new things about the universe.

This app is the BOMB! I had just visited my niece in Fairbanks, AK in Feb 2024 and downloaded this app for the trip. I never deleted it. To my surprise, I was at home in south Alabama in May 2024 and got an alert. On a whim I went outside to check for Aurora and was absolutely astonished to see AURORA BOREALIS in Dothan, AL. That was in May. Thanks to this active solar cycle, it happened again and once more I saw Aurora Borealis in Orange Beach, AL in October 2024. The app is fantastic...highly recommend!

I used this app on my trip to the north and it was amazing. I was checking it every night to see how the lights are going, and set it up to notify me if it’s expected within an hour in my location. When it did I set out with my rented car to darker locations and had an amazing show in the sky. Thank you Aurora app and its creators for making this a fascinating experience 🙏❤️.

I go to this app whenever I hear there has been solar activity and a chance to see the northern lights. We live in a big city so the chance to see them is low. The maps are very specific and really show where the lights can be seen. I really enjoy having the app and I’m hoping for the day when the maps show we have a good chance to see the lights.

I used his app pretty extensively during my recent visit to Iceland and successfully saw the Lights on two nights. I enjoyed referencing it as part of my hunting strategy. My only complaint, and why I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is the lack of instruction/explanation offered through the program. I conducted my own search to understand what I was reading. I would use again if the opportunity arose to see the Aurora.

I found this app a few years ago and it is so easy to navigate and has a lot of information. The information is very helpful! I’m just a person that would love to see the lady but I probably wouldn’t, but I can get excited about them and cheer for others in their search for Aurora I would definitely recommend this app!

We were in Iceland for three nights and really wanted to see the northern lights. This app was SPOT ON with the best places to view and the viewing times. The first day, it said we had a 3% chance. The second day it said 50% so we drove to the town mentioned on the app and sure enough were were able to see the lights and they put on an amazing show for us.

We went to Iceland last year in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. We didn’t know anything about them and this app significantly increased our awareness and ability to see them! It was a must see item for us and we got to do it in large part because of this app’s help. We highly recommend it to anyone watching for Northern Lights!

I have learned so much about how the northern lights come about in my part of the world because of this app, and the information at the end of your fingers in so awesome, paired with notifications if you want them so you don’t have to be watching the values constantly.

This app seems to cover all the bases. It tracks the aurora worldwide in real time. It shows how close it is for great shots. It gives a person predictions on cloud cover and visibility. I love the notification: “If the sky is clear, you might be able to see aurora within the next hour.” I had great success for the timing of some awesome photos!

App notified to check out northern lights when we were in Iceland if the sky was clear within the hour and the lights lite up the sky in 30+ minutes. Worked perfectly for us on the last day of our trip with a beautiful view from our porch. Had not bothered to check the app until I saw the notification:). Next time I will

My heart is beside itself! I’ve lived in Colorado my entire 39 years of life and we JUST moved to Montana and I got this app because about a month ago, I saw that they were active, but I missed them. Then I got the message from the app that they could be visible tonight! And they were!!! I was shaking. This is amazing.

I travel full time and decided to spend this Winter in Alaska solely to get my fill and shoot the Aurora. So glad I found this app as it has everything you need to up your chances to view them no matter where you are on the globe based on your location. You won’t be disappointed.

We live in Billings and need to drive north a little ways to get away from the city lights. This app has been great in deciding if to go or not waste our time. Of course, It’s not perfect because the northern lights do their own thing. However we are about 75% successful now vs a very rare chance before. Very well worth it!

Loved this. Used it to check for activity in Fairbanks Alaska and also used its best location feature to find a good spot to view the activity. Cloud cover and probability feature is not all up to the mark but what is when we don’t fully understand this phenomenon but love the usability.

This app gives you an amber alert style warning when aurora could be visible from your location. I’ve never been able to spot aurora before in lower Michigan. With this app, I have now make great photos and time lapse videos several times a year.

I was at dinner in Iceland when the alert can in that it may be possible to see Northern Lights in our area within the hour. The staff at hotel said, no no and pulled up a different app. We paid the bill went outside and sure enough it went from 18% chance to 40% and then they appeared.. Very cool and memorable

I enjoy the app. and is accurate. Only downside is that I want the ability to set Aurora alerts when there is a certain percent chance (user configurable) at my location. Knowing that it is an index of 5 in the middle of the day or when the sun is still up or extremely cloudy isn’t particular helpful.

The app takes a little to get used to it, but once you do, it’s perfect. Nothing crazy or confusing and only notifies you when there’s a decent chance. It literally just made one of the most memorable nights of my life happen. Thank you!

We live in Fort Benton, Mt and I use this app on a regular basis. The map shows where and approximately when the little to amazing events will happen and what colors to expect. It also shows whether there are expected cloudy skys and the probability of viewing within 15-60 minutes at a time. I’m so LOVING this app.

This app, with all its info and its cloud info tool included, is THE reason we found Northern Lights! I got three apps for aurora spotting, but with this one I had enough info to know where to go, when aurora was strong but my location was covered by clouds. Thank you - a bucket list item checked off!!

This app is so amazing in that one can traverse several world locations to find and see the most beautiful Aurora Borealis displays in our Hemisphere. The camera positioning is perfect and the camera lens quality is outstanding. Thank you so much for this App.

I downloaded this ap about a year ago (October 2019) and have literally been opening it up at least once per day to see the pictures and the Aurora forecast. I recently took a trip to Alaska to see the Aurora depending on the forecast that was about 3 weeks out and it did not disappoint. Thank you!!!

Gave us a notification about a chance of viewing the last night of our trip, 10 minutes later we could see it from our hotel in Reykjavík. Fantastic way to end the trip.

I have been using it for the past two years. I love that it rings when the Aurora is visible in my area of the world. I’m in NorCal and have actually seen the Aurora three times in the past two years. Went to Norway and the app accurately predicted location.

Friends keep asking, are there more Aurorae than before, which makes me think it’s simply that we MISSED so many opportunities BEFORE this app alerted me to viewings. Thanks for all of these experiences!

I live in Southern Alberta and can not (usually) see the Northern Lights without using the filter on my phone camera. This app will alert me when the Aurora Borealis can be “seen” in my area!! As soon as my location is in the green, I head outside and take as many photos/videos I can!! I recommend this app to all my friends and family!

Highly recommend. Easy to use, gives great information. Without it I would have missed the light show!

I love this app. It tells you when an aurora is likely in the area you have it set to track and gives you a map to see when you are in the area that is likely to be able to view the aurora (areas are coloured on the map). There is also a chart that shows the expected KP index in the upcoming hours and a list of the best places to see the aurora at a given time.

I have wanted to see the northern lights and aura for as long as I can remember and up until October 2024 I had no luck thanks to this app. I was able to see it not only with the naked eye but got some amazing photos and have been using it ever since religiously. Thank you for making such an amazing app.

Until recently my app was working great. But now, even though my location is on, I am getting alerts of aurora activity in my area during the day. Makes no sense since there is zero way to see any activity at all in the daylight.

It sends me messages when there is an opportunity to see aurora and it is very accurate!thanks

And look up the sky, there might have a chance to see mystical events. Where I live doesn’t have much chance to see but the app made possible to have more chances to look up the sky. There was a few times that I captured something like but I’m not sure if it was the real one or not. The live view of sun is another feature that I check. It is good to know who is the source of our warmth is doing once in a while.

Finding this app is the reason I saw the Aurora Borealis for my first time a few months ago. It’s been on my bucket lists for years. I love that they share distance to the closest reported sighting, as well as atmosphere and cloud maps - for free. Fantastic app!

Along with some other alert type apps that I have on my iPhone,(like the Weather Channel, Windy, and a great alert message app called Alertible), I downloaded this Aurora app (with text Alerts) onto my iPhone a few years ago and love it!! It has helped to enable me to view any possible Aurora’s up her in Vancouver B.C., and I was amazed at what fantastic pictures my iPhone camera was able to take of last Springs Northern light show!! My iPhone camera was actually able to see the Aurora better than my Mark-1 eyeball 👁️ in fact! Nice! Try it sometime! Anyway I always worry that we are going to get zapped with another Carrington event, and that we have not invested in our Power grids nearly enough to withstand a major Solar storm like that. I think myself that we should have already not have “cheaped-out” and had instead invested in having spare critical transformers right beside our existing ones for that rainy day sure to come sooner or later. These large custom transformers are said to take from 6 to 9 months to produce, and if (when) our grids all go down across the board at once we simply could not even survive anywhere near that long without a power grid! Scary, but I have seen estimates of a 90% or more population collapse (just one year later) if we had to try and go back to as it was like 200 years ago without electricity! Ug! Basically if we were to see the Northern lights down in places like Cuba or India like during the Carrington event I worry that our modern civilization itself would be at risk. They should perhaps do a (realistic and factual) Hollywood movie about this, imho, to bring more attention to this fact!

It should really show more things about the northern lights !!!!🌅 But probably one of the best apps I have!!👻 And can you please add way more information and like facts about the AROURA app and more facts about norther lights Thank you so much! 😊

Am enjoying this app and appreciate the alerts with sound , getting excited with the possibility if seeing the aurora. Notifications have been accurate about 97% of the time and like the feature to report sightings, the amazing gallery of photos from around the world. I see some bug fixes done a few days ago so am hoping I’ll be hearing sound alerts again. Thanks to the developers.

So far has been accurate. I’ve seen the northern lights a couple times but thanks to this app I’m able to know when I can see them and now I get to see them a lot more often

Because of this app I saw the northern lights for the first time in my life. I live in southern Ontario where it’s rare so I’ve always wanted to experience them. I have notifications on and was sitting on my couch when I got a notif that there was a 95% chance I could see them. Once the sun went down I drove just outside of my town and I saw them and it was amazing!!

Thanks to the App, I saw an Aurora. It notified me that an aurora could be visible, and it was - through my camera.

This app isn’t very accurate for my area. I have missed the aurora because this app doesn’t send me notifications when it’s supposed to. Recently the I checked the app and it told me there was a low percent chance of seeing the aurora in my area. I’m glad I checked my local weather channel’s Facebook page because the aurora was clearly visible in my area. In fact I could see the aurora right outside my front door! If I had listened to this app, I would have missed it again!

Appalled to open the app for the very first time to be affronted with a come-on to dial an obviously pornography talk line. After closing the app and reopening next presented with Ads. Get real. Had hoped to use Aurora to maximize my possibility of seeing the Northern Lights on a trip. But frankly it’s so offensive, that I am deleting it right after posting this review. SHAME ON YOU. Just wish the apparently excellent maps, probability and reported sightings features were not obliterated by the unnecessary and offensive issues.

I like this app in general, but it always shows 0% for most of the contiguous US. Last night X was full of pics of the aurora from places this app considered 0% chance of observation, including Florida. With the frequency of these events likely to increase as the magnetic field strength of our planet continues to weaken, you may wish to think about adjusting the interpretation of the data available to you ahead of major solar storms.

This app has just been disappointing for me. I read good reviews about it online and decided to download it. However, all it has done is given me false hope. I can’t tell you how many times I receive notifications that the KP index is “becoming high” but when I look at the map, it is clear that there is no chance of seeing the northern lights based on my location. I wouldn’t put all of your eggs in one basket with this app and would recommend exploring multiple resources.

I clicked on an ad within the app by mistake. It asked me to change some settings. I take my phones security and my privacy fairly seriously. I would much prefer a paid version. Update. Turns out there is a paid version. I would have liked a link to the paid version available in the free version. If there was one I couldn’t find it. My Aurora Pro $1.99. Worth it not to have the ads, cause I do like the app.

This app has been great. The new version, however, adds no functionality, it only adds mandatory full-screen video ads you have to sit through (about 10 seconds or so) before you can access the same features as before. This is, of course, in addition to the always-on ad bar. Don’t update until the developer forces you to.

I live in Alaska, and many people have been posting pictures of Auroras lately so I decided to download this app so I could plan when to stay up and see it myself. My location was correct as I could see it was where I truly was. The app gave me a 0% chance of Aurora for the last three days. I woke up this morning and many people posted pictures from the night before of spectacular Aurora borealis. Very disappointed with the app’s performance and will be deleting it and trying another.

I find the best auroras are when the forecast percentage is lower. It’s a good app but not too accurate. However the lights are hit and miss so it does its job well. However I am disappointed after 2 plus years of using this app and every week I submit a photo I can’t seem to get my photo features. There are some amazing photos. And some not so amazing photos. I pair this app with the site aurora(city name) and they email you when the lights are visible. I do find that site more accurate. But for a free app for someone who loves the lights and has a personal connection with them it’s not to terrible.

Not once has this app alerted me when the Aurora was active. Not once

I really liked the app until the ad shows up when I go to open the Aurora Map. Then an ad shows up and is in french and in an Asian language. I don’t read or speak other languages so I just close the app and start over. Getting to be a real pain and don’t use the app very much now. App deleted.

Needs to be an option to set notification settings at a higher % likelihood of seeing northern lights in my area

The app function is very difficult to understand

I love the aurora. And I love this app. But ever since they changed the aurora map it had looked so weird. Like aurora Minecraft. Idk if this is a glitch but they need to switch it back from these big squares of supposed aurora back to how it was.

The name of the Gulf of Mexico is wrong please change it. It cheapens the look of the application

So why exactly would it say "low chances" when everyone who stayed up saw the visibly BRIGHT auroras with their eyes... this is poor wording, that is definitely NOT low chances of visibility. I missed the auroras because of this. Had it said something like "very likely but not certain" that could've prepared me better. Low chances should mean barely visible with no equipment.

I get notifications every time there is a possibility of seeing the northern lights. But when the possibility is less then 2% it can get a little frustrating .
