To understand, the app is real time. It is of great ease to use. It has plenty of older earth quakes then the immediate earthquakes, though sadly, through the updates, it’s harder to see past earthquakes which are beyond the old time frame which means that one may go without noticing a few earthquakes that they have happened if one doesn’t check the timeline something like every three days. Since it is immediate, it usually allows you to see earthquakes which are not typically entered in world wide news or not timely entered in world wide news. This however is Only for Earthquakes. Please use another app for other World Wide disasters or to manage to see the effects in the socio economic spectrum of the regions near the earth quakes. (They do show roads, that being said…) Also, fue things I have noticed is that the general naming of the area the earthquake has gotten better with updates and is doing the best within the frames of the published names of areas, as some may have names that are not the official ones. The app tries to also do it’s best within the range of contested lands, and other factors. The app is pretty nice…
THANK YOU for this app., I love it! Im informed, as it happens, with factual information. Knowledge is power and realtime precision with worldwide graphic's map or satellite with capabilities of zooming so close to ground, vehicles are visible! Ive enjoyed this app for 3-4 years and counting. ( I’D RECOMMEND having a longer period for past occurrences though. Perhaps allow history of quakes to remain for each month. As each month changes to the next keep history of last two days in prior month until the 7th of each month. ) Sincerely, California
I live in DC, which is not exactly in an earthquake zone. But we did have a noticeable one many years ago and recently I became curious about quakes and downloaded this tracker just for fun. This morning I saw a headline of a 1.8 quake about 20 miles from my home. The app was set to notify me of quakes above 3.0. so I changed my setting. I was hoping to see the quake listed following the change, but I didn't. Developers is this a flaw in the app, or is that how it's supposed to work? I'm wondering if I can trust it, so 2 stars for now. UPDATE- my bad. I was hoping to see the quake after I had lowered my setting to 1.8 but the developer replied that it does not work retroactively. If we ever do have a quake of 1.8 or more I look forward to seeing it on the map. I'll try to remember to write another update if and when that occurs but given my location don't hold your breath 😊. Thank you developers - keep up the good work.
Does not always alert me when it should even though my settings thank you from letting me write this review. I have it set to a certain area first of all, and it gives me readings from thousands of miles away that are around me and most of the time when there is an earthquake that's close by I don't get the alert till well after the fact when it's too late to do me any good if I'm correct this thing is supposed to let you know just before or at least while it's happening I still enjoy the app though. Thank you are correct
I live in Northern California, US, and have been looking for an app that shows quake activity in the area. I tried a few different ones first but they were either too global or didn’t include any below 2.0. This app allows me to set my specific location area, and shows all seismic activity (even below 1.0), where/when it occurred, and how far away from my location. Was easy to set up my preferences, and was exactly what I needed. Will definitely recommend to others. Thank you!!

I like this application very much and sends messages very quickly following happening in California. (The other day it sent a text within a minute of feeling a 5 magnitude). I wish that you could choose to select more than one state to monitor instead of having to choose between all states or just one.... I live in So Cal and my parents live right off the Juan De Fuca plate In Oregon (tsunami flood area). Setting alarms for both states would allow me to monitor what’s happening where I live and where loved ones live concurrently.
I really like this app and by changing the numbers to only 3.0 or over makes less to sort through. Even though the reads are not always accurate I can double check on a more scientific site and get the correct read. Also some numbers change after getting all the facts. It takes a few minutes after a quake hits for an alert, but better than going to a computer and typing into a site, as they are normally deluged by too many nervous people. I would recommend this app.
I got this app because I live in California where we have a few “shakers” a year that test our homes and make us immediately guarded to see how strong it will be. We’ve also had some quakes that make a major mess in highly populated areas, like the ones in Sylmar, or Northridge years ago. This app also alerts us to some quakes around the world. Some places are obscure where the geography in those locations are fascinating to navigate!
I downloaded this because my dad lives in the Bay Area and is hesitant to try one of these app himself, so far of the 3 apps I’ve tried, this is the most customizable in terms of location and magnitude customization BUT I really wish I could add multiple locations and have alerts for my area in the NW as well as Bay Area and maybe even one for other family members in SoCal too. Why not let people monitor multiple locations. It’s very common to have loved ones in other states we may want to be aware of eq activity nearby them to check in with them.
I really like to keep myself informed of what’s going on around the world, this app really helps me to really do that effectively. I on the spot minute by minute hour by hour record of the earthquakes that are happening Surat the world I find really informative and very helpful in keeping abreast of what’s going on on this planet while it’s happening! I really can’t recommend this app any higher than a five star review if I could I most certainly would I’d love it!
This app makes it so easy to monitor quakes and their details - stuff you need to know NOW. It’s the best quake app I’ve used to date and I’ve tried a few. I live on the North Coast of California and we just had a 6.4 quake last night and sooo many aftershocks, all day today. I do wish it had tsunami warning info readily available as I live in a tsunami zone. Otherwise, I’m so thankful for this app! Especially last night and today!
I have been notified earthquake events as they happen. I live in AK, a place with moderate activity, so it is nice to have this running in the background. I keep mental tracking of where the activity is and then when we have s shaker here I will actively review the past 24-48 hours and to see if there is a potential threat to my community that I need to pay attention to. I like this app and will continue to use it. It is easy to use, gives essential info sans fluff
I come from the central plains and accustomed to tornadoes. A number of years ago while attending a conference near the west coast of the US, I experienced an earthquake at 3:00 am and have been terrified of quakes since that time. I had to go down 28 flights of stairs in my hotel to get to safety. After shocks terrified me. I use this app to let me know of earthquakes in my country. This is a very reliable app and highly recommend it.
2 days ago at 05:37am I was awake in bed and heard and felt a low level earthquake. This APP missed it completely, my wife thought I was dreaming until the 6pm news that reported it. I have to say I was very surprised it was missed because it was never missed before to my knowledge. A year ago we had a lot of quakes less than 2.4. This app reported every one early, and pretty accurately.
I used to really love this app and it would let me know wherever the earthquakes were and nowadays I get nothing. I don’t know that it’s happened till I see it on the news or it pops up on a report on my phone. I have a lot of family up north and Eureka Fortuna Ferndale, and I would like to know what’s going on but lately I never seem to receive any notifications
I really appreciate how this app works to inform the user is the seismic activity going on around the world. One way it could be better if/when appropriate would be to add more detail about the activity (such as “feels/felt like” or any damage or casualties that happened as a result if applicable). Another detail, as much as science makes it possible, would be to have predictors of future seismic activity and potential severity.
Overall anyone interested in earthquakes should like this app. The only reason I don’t give it 5 ⭐️ is there’s only a single notification configuration. I’d like something like 5+ anywhere in the world 4+ in my continent, 3+ in my state, my best friend’s state, my relatives’ states, etc. Basically be able to add as many of the Notifications section in settings as I want.
I like this earthquake notification app and it’s flexibility. I can set whatever part of the world or country I want to be notified of. I can also set what severity I want to be notified of. The reason that I docked it one star is the delay. The last alert came 3 hours after the earthquake hit. While this is interesting to know about it doesn’t provide any safety aspect unless you use it to anticipate aftershocks. Perhaps the delay is the fault of the reporting agency and not the app.
I got this app about 9 months ago, and I didn’t think much of it, because my area is seismically quiet. But the alarm went off for the 6.9 in Hawaii while I was at work, and it took more than 10 minutes for the internet news to catch up. Very accurate, very quick alert time, easy to use filters. Thank you for making this.
Enjoyable Feed, but seems to have missed one, and missed two entry blanks? The Contact Support choices Question and Problem seem to have no place to type anything in? And, today Tuesday 25 Oct 2022, CNN tweeted a R5 quake near San Jose CA, and there is a lot of chatter about it, but your Earthquake app is silent about it while still posting other quakes?
I love this app! We know what we’re feeling but this confirms it. It’s very detailed on where the quakes and aftershocks are, it’s amazing we have this technology! I have and will continue to recommend this app to all my California family and friends. It assists us in our game of how big was it and where was it!!!!! Thank you for all the fun and information!!!! Not that earthquakes are fun but you have to do something to shake off your nerves!!!!!!
Been using for around two years, very happy with interface, definitely set it to only alert if mag 3+, especially if you also live in an earthquake prone location. Alerts me within a reasonable time after the events, updates itself often to correct most incorrectly posted data, and, as always, it’s super free!! Must have, anywhere near fault lines!
It shows or tells me most ofthe things I want to know, but could us a few teeaks. Top of my list right now: 1) my country is large so I have it set to show “nearby” events but I can’t see let alone change the definition of “near” that it uses, and 2) it says a quake epicenter is a certain distance and direction from some thing that doesn’t appear on the map
Do you ever actually look at how your viewers set their app. I set it for United States only and I get world wide. That is more than I care to look through the whole world I’m done if you can’t fix this within the next few days. Very disappointed in this app. If it can’t be set for the United States of America. I will delete
Had an earthquake that happened near me, but the notification came 13 hours after the fact. When I first got the app, i loved it, it was within minutes of notifications of any rumblings. Now the notifications are hours after the earthquakes occur. Still love the app but wish it was a bit more timely.
I looked at several earthquake reporting apps over 2 years. For readability, timeliness, settings, accuracy, user interface and more, I believe that this is the best one. If you live in an earthquake-prone area, or know people who do, or are just interested in earthquakes, get this one. Try it out with ads, or go “pro”. 5-Stars.
Does what is says without too many annoying ads. I also appreciate the simplicity in the format making it simple to get the basics and the settings expand for more elaborate configurations according to personal preference. It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not to have it. Bravo
This app is really great 👍 it definitely notifies me when and/or just before one hits in my area. The alarm 🚨 is loud even when I forget to turn my phone alarm up. The first time or two I wasn’t quite sure what the alarm 🚨 sounded like BUT now I do and have a safe place set up inside with blankets just in case.
For the most part, this is advanced as it gets for earthquake warning in the United States. We don’t quite have a system like Japan at detecting them early, and this app occasionally gives you a few seconds to react. Most of the time it just alerts you after the fact.
Sent Immediately after all earthquakes worldwide! The app goes beyond its call of duty of “real time” notifications, by sending a detailed summary notifications about previous earthquakes. The ended to my search for an earthquake app started when I found this one, it’s well worth downloading ✌🏼
That’s literally it, you cannot set a range, ‘nearby’ is the closest you can get to your location and ‘nearby’ is about a 200 miles radius....I have mine set to alert me if there is an earthquake above a 4...but I don’t care if it’s happening 200 miles away...I wish you could make that radius a LOT smaller like 25 miles or 10 mile radius. If that changed the app would be great
We had a minor event and I wanted a quick place to find info. Did a quick search and tried this app. They had the information available within the 5 minutes it took me to find and get the app. Same as USGS and a nice display.
Better to know about them and act accordingly. I was raised mostly in the Far East, lotsa shaking going on there. When Dad retired to SF area, it didn’t change. Now, 5 decades later, I still find we’re never that far from some movement, so have a plan. I start with a doorway and go from there, always looking for any kids nearby.
Can’t seem to get local earthquakes on screen any longer. I was getting the local quakes here in calif mostly. That’s okay. But I know their has to be more quakes on California than other parts of the us. And the quakes are mostly outside of the U.S. why should I buy the pro edition if the free one changes itself without me making changes.
This app is very accurate. While having the earthquake it when off immediately and in exact location. Then came to find out it was spot on in magnitude. Love it. Wondered why my cat was acting very weird. I will pay more attention to her now when she gets overly anxious and affectionate.
I feel the lightest of earthquakes and live in Southern California. Earthquakes are prone to happen here and sometimes I freak out because I feel my bed lightly shaking and other don’t feel it and literally, moments later, the app goes off alerting me of a nearby earthquake. Usually they’ve been miles away and felt lightly to a jolt but the Earthquake App is on it!
Gives excellent info on local activity, with good settings to manage the notifications by region and intensity. Data feed is really good & fast with notifications arriving within one or two minutes (if not faster) of feeling a small earthquake.
I recently moved to CA. This has given me piece of mind as I know I live in a seismic area. I know more or less if the earth moves and if there is something “strong” it will alert me. Which come to the case that I went to the DR and there was a 4.7 earthquake near the area I was staying at and this app alerted me asap.
I know I will be notified after obviously, but it still helps me see what is going on around me.
Awesome app! 4 real
The information is on the spot, precise and very helpful!
Good
Keeping up with the activity of earthquakes reinforces for me the sign that Jesus gave in the Bible denoting the “time of the end” at Luke 21:10,11 along with other signs, “there would be great earthquakes”! Not the end of the earth but the end of human misrule! Check out JW.org the most translated website in 1,039 languages. It answers many of life’s big questions using the Bible as it’s authority!
Best one so far
Love this App and alerted to Canadian and surrounding quakes. Thank you!
Would love to have the ability to set multiple criteria with magnitude, region, tones, etc
Very nicely done and very informative! I highly recommend it!
Ok so I like this map beacause i love watching earthquakes and stuff it says the lastest earthquakes and with a search thing that you can see what happend in the past. However, it doesn’t have much detail in what lastest earthquake happened when you tap on it and i don’t really have a problem so yeah good app
This is always the first of my two earthquake apps to report an earthquake.
Wow this is an amazing app in case there is a coverup by very powerful we all know who we would see the massive earthquake on the app eh
Love this app. Especially how you can change the settings so easily.
A great app for monitoring earthquakes. Would love to have filter by distance to my location.
I like it, the original was good, this is better.
If you into earthquakes, this is The App. Reports quakes very quickly and gives great info on location and strength detail. Great support, also.
I had no idea there were so many earthquakes happening every day. The interface and info feed for the app were easy to understand and use. Although there is a search button it seems to only apply to the paid version. One of the earthquake notification options was for "Nearby" but I wasn't sure what this meant, what distance limit was used? Minor issue: the default Twitter comment is too long. Overall though this is a stellar app!
Wow I didn't know there were earthquakes all the time like this. cool app
My Earthquake Alerts & Feed Negative Reviews and Ratings
The app is good. It is simple and easy to use. However I had noticed in the months after downloading the app that my phone’s battery didn’t last as long as it used to. Looking at the battery section in settings, it showed that the earthquake app was responsible for 22% of my battery usage with it open for 99 hours in the background during a single week. I use my phone A LOT so the app having 22% of my battery usage in the past week is no easy feat. I don’t know what it could be doing in the background to be using all that battery but it doesn’t really matter to me as I am deleting the app.
Initially, this app was as great and accurate. Two of us in our home have this same app. Initially, we both received the same alerts at the same time, give or take a few seconds. Then, we noticed, there would be an increasing delay between one person’s n would get a notification and when the other would get their notification. First, it was minutes, then hours and now days. Settings were verified. Both have the same phones. Customer service was contacted but there’s been no reply and that was days ago. The app was great prior to this issue but now reliability issues are a concern as well as this company’s ability to provide customer service.
There was an excellent app called QuakeSpotter, which is no longer in the App Store, but still works. Unfortunately it recently stopped pulling data from everywhere except the Mediterranean and Middle East regions, so I thought I would try My Earthquake Alerts. Unfortunately the layout isn’t as good as QuakeSpotter. It’s especially annoying that the map is only shown on less than half of the screen and the rest of the screen shows recent earthquakes. On QuakeSpotter these were on separate screens accessible via the menu.
The app says it’s designed to give warnings in advance of an earthquake. So far I’ve gotten all kinds of warnings, none of which were near my state. I live in northern Washington. I’m getting warnings when using the “nearby” feature from Southern California. I’m pretty sure in no way is that “nearby.” The FAQ says the app will increase the distance based on magnitude. The app just told me there was a 3.2 earthquake in Southern California. Yeah, that’s not going to impact me. If they can iron out this issue the app will be useful but so far all it does is give pointless jump scares.
There’s no way to reach anyone for customer support, so that’s always a bad sign. You can’t even email them. I get it, as I’m a brand new user but opted for free plan for now then upgrade if and when … Nd secondly I’m getting earthquake notice for some place in Guadelara and states it’s a MILE from us (live near LAX) at any rate, I requested country then state and within 20-50 miles somewhere in the range and changed the magnitude notification to 3.5 and up… but it’s not very thorough. Nice little app otherwise just wised it was working according to my settings. Stay Safe !
Three things would make this a better app. First, make it possible to remove the information box that pops up in the middle of the screen preventing being able to see the area of the quake. Second, include markers for all the quake activity in that area. It’s nice to be able to see how many earthquakes have taken place in an area. Third, have the ability to keep the quake information for more than just a day.
I payed for the pro version about a year or so ago. The app works great however I don’t think its fair having to pay for it again for having a new phone. I’ll pay the 2.99 again because my parents are in PR and I like monitoring the quakes plus the app is worth it. I give 5 stars to the Pro version because I can set the quake alerts based on my specifications and are super effective and timely.
This app has the potential to be very useful. But the problem that I see with it, is I cannot get it to narrow down to the area that I want. it gives me all of North America not just a certain state or area. I don’t care about the rest of the US. I just wanna know about the area I live in, so future developments, it would be nice if you can build that into it too specify the area you want to see.
The app looks and feels great, but for some odd reason, it is only in Spanish and doesn’t seem to have an option in settings to manually change it to English. My phone is in Swedish, so my system language isn’t the problem, but I am located in Chile right now so I assume that it automatically changes to the language of your location? I don’t know, but regardless, I can’t understand it, so I’ll have to delete it.
My only complaint is that I can’t filter the alerts by proximity. I’m in LA so I keep getting notifications of 3M+ earthquakes around the Ridgecrest area. I want to get alerts for 3M+ within 20 miles of my location, and 5M+ within 200mi radius. That would be much more relevant for me, if we could define “nearby” so I could actually understand which earthquakes may actually impact us. Otherwise it’s much more useful and informative than ShakeAlert.
I got this app because I recently moved to a part of the world prone to earthquakes, which is a new experience for me. I thought it might provide timely updates but it does not. Earlier today an 8.8 quake hit Russia and there are now tsunami warnings all over the Pacific. Yet none of that shows up so far in this app when I opened it and specifically looked for that information. It doesn’t impact where I am located but still. Don’t trust your safety and life on something that is this inaccurate.
Used to be a very good app when it first came on the store, now even though I have the notifications on and I set it up for certain quakes, it gives me notifications once in a blue moon, like today’s 7.3 Japan earthquake, it didn’t notified me, only the 5.5 one; what’s up with that??? With every update it’s worse and worse. I’ll give it couple more weeks and then I’ll delete it, it’s very poor lately.
Got this hecause I live on my boat and need to know of bug earthquakes. Didn't notify me of the 8.8 one that happened in Russia that put our whoke town on Tsunami alert. So will be looking for an app that is more reliable.
Doesn’t show the 5.2 earthquake we had a couple of days ago and never notified me yesterday’s 5.2 earthquake. Do not recommend this app at all
Unable to set area one lives as a focus point of alert
Large earthquake in Alaska and no alert received
Too Many Ads
Just went through a tsunami evac in my region. Not a peep from the app. Setting were for my geographic area (North America and quake magnitude of 4+). Environment agencies notify of an 8+ off Alaska. I think you might need to fix.
Text updates are awesome ! But the earthquakes on the app do not measure the same as on the news.
Slow to load sometimes. Does not have the details that similar apps have.
