Who came up with such great idea!I needed something to know how many pages of a book I'm reading a day and track the progress of the book. Initially, I was using stopwatch and writing the minutes and pages down manually, but then I found this app and it made everything simple and easy. Really loved the idea of this app! You think about something and there is an app for that. I like so much about this app from the layout to colors, feel and esthetics. Visual data and graphs help me track my progress and encourage me to read more everyday. Finding titles online is really handy, you don’t need to fill up author name and title info or take the cover photo. For the future updates, we would love to see if there is something we could link this app with Goodreads. Now, there is something I don’t like, the pattern of subscription. How something so simple is a monthly subscription service? I understand that there are engineers constantly working on it, but there should be at a way to pay one time and may be get some extra features. Since I'm not a heavy book reader, I would not subscribe and then forget about it and keep paying for something I’m barely using. However, I would love to support the app if there is some onetime buying feature may be with just few extra features like the option of adding 10 more books. Again, thanks to the team for such great app and their work..Version: 1.7.4
LOVE this app! This is the perfect app for anyone who loves to read. It tracks how long you read a session, gives you stats like how long it would take you to finish a book based on how fast you’ve read however many pages, and so much more! You can also add characters and their details like death, physical traits, how they interact with the main character, and descriptions. Without premium you can only add a few characters to a book so it’s kinda limiting depending on how many characters there are in the book you read. You can set goals and earn diamonds to customize your app look and little character that they have. And also, you can add words and the meaning so that’s also really cool. I really recommend getting premium because 1. The app can be pretty limiting without it, 2. You can unlock so many cool features like a pdf where it summarizes your books for you based on all the thoughts you added, etc. DEFINITELY spend money on this app if you can, it’s extremely worth it for all book lovers. The only flaw I’ve seen so far but not really a flaw is that I wish for the reading marathons you can add the books in so when you start to track your progress on one it actually automatically puts it into the readathon for you with stats as well but other than that I love it!.Version: 1.15.4
Amazing app but…Don’t get me wrong it’s a very good app and it’s definitely got me reading a lot more. Like the features to add my thoughts and quotes from book it’s amazing and the sounds that are provided for you to listen to are just spectacular even though I can only afford the free one. To be honest my main problem is the fact lot of the things is pay for access. Everything else I’m fine with is like the access to the assistant or the other things yeah OK I get that but the thing that bugs me the most is the fact that I can’t add more than 10 books and I can’t delete books. Because I don’t wanna a book that I just finished to just be taking space when I could add another book but I can’t delete it is only for pro. I respect the hustle but you at least let us non-pro people be able to delete books. There are other features that bug me like I can’t use diction to type out quotes, thoughts, and vocabulary words and I have to manually type it out. The fact that I can’t delete a book after I finish reading it most definitely bugs me the most so if you could just change that a little bit would be greatly appreciated. But don’t it let you stop from download the app because if you wanna become a reader I think it’s a really good app to helps you in a pretty fun except for that one annoying feature. But you know that’s my opinion and you have yours so yeah..Version: 1.11.10
Great! Aside from a paywall for features and full screen ads.Just found out about this app and thought I'd try it. Love the idea of stat tracking for reading. UI I think is well made and everything that the app is specifically designed to do I think is awesome. What's not so awesome is the business model. I understand needing ads for revune when you offer a free product, but full page ads are ridiculous especially when I simply want to just add a book. Secondly the price with what's locked behind the price. For such minuscule feature that do nothing more than expand what's already offered I see no reason why someone couldn't copy everything and, with what's offered for the pro version, and make it free. Or at the very least charge a one time fee. $30 a year for an app is pretty steep when I haven't read anything about the developers planning to add more content through the life of the app. Bug fixes don't count that's should be a given. There isn't anything the app offers that I couldn't do myself with a pen and paper, it's just math. Again I think the idea is great and I'd love to use it and would be willing to buy it once for a single rate fee. But with the ads that take over the entire screen, and simple, easily replicated features locked behind a paywall, it wasn't worth my continued use. If they decide to change their business model I would definitely give it another shot. Until then...I'll stick to doing everything the app offers myself but for free..Version: 1.7
Great App but..It's a fantastic app that has definitely encouraged me to read more. the features that allow me to contribute my ideas and book quotes are fantastic, and the noises that are offered for you to listen to are simply incredible. Since many items require payment for access, that is, to be honest, my primary issue. I understand having to pay for access to some things but to have to pay to delete books or be able to track more than 10 books bugs me. I'm okay with everything else, such as having access to the assistant or other stuff, I understand that. I appreciate the app, it’s incredibly useful and has got me reading more again. But not being able to delete books without paying us a bit annoying. I’m here are many books that I’ve put on there and had the intention of reading but then found other more interesting books that I can’t add. If you really like to read you can go through 10 books rather quickly. Other aspects, such as the inability to use dictation to type out quotes, ideas, and vocabulary terms, I find really great and have helped explain to others the different things about the book and share my thoughts without having to reread it. It annoys me the most because I can't delete a book once I've finished reading it, so any changes you could make there would be greatly appreciated..Version: 1.13.6
Encouraging, Informative Tool for ReadingI’ve always been an avid reader, from a toddler whose punishment was to have her bookcase turned around, to a school aged kid who devoured all the books teachers threw at her to a college graduate with a BA in literature. Books are essentially my personality. But then a lot of real life happened, a lot of adult stuff and work stuff and mental health stuff that put me in the worst reading slump of my life. For the first time reading felt like a chore. In a last ditched effort to bring books back into my life I consumed as much BookTok and Bookstagram I could, I started my own LGBTQIA+ book club, bulked up my TBR, and introduced audiobooks into my life. But still I was looking for a single app that could not only track all my books, but also be used as an inventory, allow me to rate, and encourage me to read. Bookly is all of that and more! I love getting the reminders on my phone everyday to read. I love the infographics that are created after I finish a book. I love the goal visualization and the countdown of how many days I’ve read, and the fact I can listen to white noise all within the same app! Whether you are a seasoned reader or just trying to get into it, this book will support and encourage you with healthy reading habits with enough cuteness to keep you tethered!.Version: 1.12.6
Great Motivator!Update 3/6/22 - After nearly a year since signing up, I’m still loving Bookly; it’s definitely one of my top 5 “must do’s” every day. I’ve logged 222 days so far in my most recent streak and will be crushed now if I miss a day. I’ve realized that I have several classics I’ve never read for some reason. The motivation to reach goals helps me wade through some selections I might have been more tempted to abandon prior to using the app. Once it’s part of the stats, it needs to count toward the yearly goal, etc., so I’m loathe to quit one after starting. Keep doing the good stuff Bookly! I love this app. Have always been a “reader,” but since installing this app, I’ve “always got my nose in a book” according to my bestie. 🤓 I enjoy tracking my consecutive days read, and will avoid chores all day in order to not break my streak. 🤷♀️ By keeping a record of the books I’ve read, I no longer waste time rereading a book I read a couple of years ago that has slipped from memory, as I’ve done many times before I started using Bookly Pro. I can also revisit favorite passages by adding quotes to that title’s record, and my vocabulary has benefitted from the ability to note new/unfamiliar words and definitions as well. Very much worth the price annually, would definitely recommend..Version: 1.11.10
Great for encouraging more readingI saw this app via IG and was immediately intrigued. I love reading but don’t make the time to like I should. This app has made me consistent and excited again about reading regularly. The stats are fun to share and I like how you can edit the details of the book as needed. My favorite features are being able to snap pics of quotes I read and highlight them, add my notes and comments and list the page number and the daily pop up reminder to read. Love it! I purchased a year subscription pretty quickly but was surprised to see that it doesn’t sync across devices. Very odd. Sometimes I’m reading an actual book other times on my iPad or phone. Was very frustrated not to be able to pick up across devices. Oddly there is no log in, hence maybe why no syncing.? It’s tied to a device? I’d also suggest being able to put in Roman numerals when you stop the app and need to list your page number. Some book introductions are a bit lengthy and usually label those pages with Roman numbers. I spend time reading towards my goal on a new book but couldn’t enter my page number accurately. That bothers the data nerd in me! Overall, I highly recommend this app if you want to level up your reading and be consistent..Version: 1.12.2
Can’t explain how much I love this appOkay so I usually NEVER write reviews. Like this is literally my first one I’ve ever written but I just can’t say enough good things about this app. I used to hate reading. And by hate I MEAN HATE!!!! If I told myself from a year ago that I would be reading for hours on end I would have laughed in my face. Truly. With the help of this app I have developed the habit of reading—and I love it! I’ve had the app for about a month and have already finished 7 books, about 4000 pages in total. I would have never thought this would ever happen. Along with making me want to read, it helps me track my thoughts and feeling about books in ways like never before. I love the quotes and thoughts you can add while reading and also getting to add characters. It’s super helpful to have my thoughts organized and easy to look back on. I also love all of the stats they offer and think it’s so cool to see how fast I’ll read fiction books compared to books in my field of study. So many interesting things I’ve learned about myself and my reading habits. In conclusion PLEASE get this app. I’m not joking. If you read at ALL (even fan fiction💋) you need this app to track it. It’s so helpful and my fave app..Version: 1.16.3
I love this appThis app is great for avid readers who just like to read and keep track of books read. I wouldn’t recommend this to someone who is a note taker. That said, the Quote, Thought, and Word Definitions features are great. I do pay for Pro; the free version is decent to use if your goal is to track your reading and add books. That’s about it. You can’t delete books, or see your infographics without pro. There is very little you can do without pro, actually. Alas, with my having the pro version, I love this app. I love the basic elements that are easily laid out, allowing me to keep focus on the book I’m reading and not be distracted by the complicated features most other apps seem to use. I can easily add a quote or thought, or look up a word definition and enter it without much thought at all; it’s all on the same page. I love the Store, being able to earn diamonds to buy app covers or new “assistant” skins. I am a bit disappointed that you don’t earn some small amount of diamonds when you complete an Achievement. I feel like we’re a bit jipped out of currency there, as you can only earn diamonds by reading (specifically how long you read each session). Overall, I think this is a great app to have, especially if you’re just getting back into reading for fun..Version: 1.12.12
Great app! Looking forward to improvementsThis is a great app! Easy to use, clean displays, nice and simple. I've only used it for a couple of books but it really motivated me to make time for a hobby that I don't have as much time for anymore. I tend to have a slower reading pace than most, so the infographics were pretty interesting. And it's great being able to see the progress I'm making, especially when I'm reading a 700+ pg book. There was a tiny bug I noticed when I had to delete an incorrectly recorded reading session (that was my fault), and the page numbers on the page for the book's overall info and the page for the book's reading sessions didn't sync up right. Nothing that's too much of a problem, but it just bothered me a bit. It'd be nice to get that fixed. Also, I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and that's hard to keep track of on here. I figure I can just mark them as "read in the past," since the app wasn't designed for audiobook listening and etc, but it'd be great if for "read in the past book" there was an option to just quickly put in what day you finished the book, or perhaps which days you were reading it. But that's about it. Overall this is a great app! I definitely regret not getting it earlier tbh..Version: 1.8
Download it, download it nowI used to be a very avid reader but found myself in a huge reading rut after graduating grade school 4 years ago. this year I really wanted to try to get back into reading but I really couldn’t find a way to keep myself motivated. I’m the the of person that needs to use some sort of log or tracker to stay on top of things so I figured that if I did that with reading, I would be more likely to keep reading. turns out I was absolutely right. I’m able to log how much time I read, how many pages I read, how many books, quotes, thoughts, I can set goals – there’s so much that I do that keeps me motivated and I absolutely will not read without using this app. I’m constantly motivated to read everyday and have been so successful in my want to get back into reading. I’m on my 17th book of the year since I downloaded it, pretty big for me since I’ve probably only read about 10 books in the last 4 years alone. my only thing I wish that the app had was a way for the user base to communicate internally through the app like some sort of community page. overall, I absolutely love this app and highly recommend it to anyone who is already an avid read or wants to become one..Version: 1.12.2
I LOVE BOOKLYI downloaded Bookly this summer to help me keep track of my reading minutes and easily input them into my library’s reading challenge. After the challenge was over I realized that I genuinely enjoyed using the Bookly features, even if I didn’t “have to”. I started using it every time I read and quickly upgraded to the subscription to gain access to all of the features. I feel like using Bookly makes my reading time so much more meaningful and brings more fun into the tracking, rating and review, and even reflection process. I love having all of my books logged and organized and being able to write details about it so that I can always go back when I’m forgetting the characters, plot lines, etc. I love that I was able to transfer the books from my Goodreads straight into the app. One of my favorite features is the definitions. I am a huge vocab nerd and used to have an app that displayed a word to learn on a widget everyday. I have now replaced this widget with the Bookly definitions one to display the words I find in the books I’m reading and I love it!! If you are a fan of organization and tracking, I recommend using Bookly for all of your extra bookish logging..Version: 1.16.11
Awesome way to keep track of reading.I adore this app and recommend it to everyone I know who likes reading. It helps me feel like I’m progressing through my long backlog of books I own but haven’t read yet. My two small complaints are that there’s no way to resort the order of collections, which would be very helpful as I have quite a few. Even if it was just alphabetical, at least that would make sense, rather than just in order of when you created it, as I’ve begun reading new genres since downloading the app over a year ago. Also, I wish that the quotes feature was reverse chronological, newest first, as I often like to use recent quotes in journals and have over 200 quotes. Besides those two things, which are small problems for me, I am obsessed with this app. I really like that it shows your speed of reading, and the weekly and monthly rundowns are very nice for remembering progress has been made. In over a year of using this app regularly, I’ve never had a bug or problem with it. Highly, highly recommend. P.S. This is not a venue in which to read ebooks, rather to track progress of books you own in other forms, as I’ve seen multiple rather rude reviews who seem to be misinformed on the subject..Version: 1.9.18
Helped me back into reading! This is probably the only app review I’ve ever left out of just sheer desire to do so because I absolutely love this app. I used to be a huge reader, and of course, life kinda got in the way, and I found myself really missing that sense of adventure and excitement that books used to bring me. I also didn’t particularly like the idea of reading on my phone, and I usually used that as an excuse to not read as much. One of many, at least. Not enough gas to get to the library, oh I forgot to stop by the book store, my phone’s never charged, I just don’t have time, blah blah blah. And then I can’t remember what made me download Bookly, but now I’ve read three books so far this year AND joined two book clubs 😅 Keeping up with my reading and trying to reach my goal every day (there’s my competitive side) has been the kickstart I needed to regain the passion I once had for books and literature. Thank you guys! My only critique, and I do understand that it just is what it is, but I do wish Bookly pro was free 😭 I’m sure it’s worth it, and hopefully I will one day be able to afford it, but ya win some ya lose some, huh?.Version: 1.14.2
Bookly reviewThis app has been great for getting me motivated to get into reading. i have dyslexia, so reading has always been a challenge for me, but seeing my progress go from 2.5 minutes per page to almost one minute per page has been very rewarding, and i love that i can leave reviews on books when i’m finished reading them. i also love the feature that allows me to listen to some calming sounds as i read- that feature is especially lovely when km reading poetry. my roommate reads a bit more than i do and also uses this app, and she did say there’s a limit to how many books you can have on here, which means to add more books you have to delete some that you’ve read. at that point, i think having goodreads is useful for tracking the books you’ve read and your thoughts throughout them, while bookly is good for tracking your progress throughout the book, your reading times, and listening to calming sounds during reading sessions. i think it would also be great to have more of a selection of sounds, but that’s probably a feature you get if you purchase premium (along with the ability to keep your read books in your library.) even if book tracking is a feature available to bookly, i still think goodreads is better for that particular thing though because you can organize them into folders, like “read books,” “want to read,” “reading” and whatever custom folders you want. overall though, i think bookly is cool. there is one slightly annoying thing though, which is the reason i took away one star. it’s that i can’t click “maybe later” when it asks if i want to do a reading reflection, i have to exit the app to get that out of my face, and then reopen the app if i want to view my reading session. i think there should be a big X in the corner or just something to make that easier to exit..Version: 1.15.5
I loved it but I’m a little disappointed.I loved the app. I was looking for a way to track how much I read and I was hoping to do a full calculation at the end of the year to see my progress. When I found this app, I thought “great. I can use this.” The pro version seems fine and all but, I don’t need a “personal assistant” to tell me when to read or whatever else it does. I don’t need the image quotes feature. I don’t need to have my quotes on funny little images to send via text. That’s not something I’ll ever use. I don’t listen to “sounds” when I read. I’m not one of those people that listen to music or anything else when I read. I don’t need any other feature. All I wanted was simple a little app where I can track my reading time and how long it took me to finish a book. I could track this all in excel using a timer but that’s not efficient. Sometimes, I can only read for five minutes or I forget to start up my timer. But having Bookly right on my phone I was able to just very quickly tap the timer and it does the all the work for me. I’m essentially saying a lot to the pro features are not something I’m interested in. I understand the need for the developers to make money and there’s nothing wrong with that, but the 10 book limit is just a ploy to get others to purchase the pro version even if they don’t really need it. I’m not going to pay $5 a month just to track books. It’s just not practical for me. Anyway, I digress. It’s a great app, it really is. And if you want more features highly recommend you use it. But if you’re just looking a simple way to track your time maybe use another app or get in the habit of using a timer..Version: 1.9.18
Great premise, but lack of accessibility.I’ve been using Bookly since November of last year and I do have to say, it has become one of my favorite reading applications (aside from Storygraph) since moving on from GoodReads. As an individual with ADHD-C, Bookly assists me in managing my time better to ensure that I finish novels I read in the set amount of various time I want to. I also appreciate that there are sections of the application on Bookly that are dedicated to jotting down thoughts and opinions of the novel you’re reading, and your favorite quotes you may stumble upon. However, something I feel Bookly failed to take into consideration when creating their premium option was locking away accessibility features, such as text-to-image quotes and text dictation: these are accessibility options for disabled people that are essentially locked behind a paywall. I struggle with chronic pain in my hands from previous accidents, so typing can prove difficult and I often use dictation to complete tasks requiring such. I, and other disabled folks, shouldn’t have to pay premium to access common accessibility aids. I understand Bookly is gathering financial support for their application through premium, but I feel there’s a better way to gather these finances aside from locking away accessibility tools behind a paywall. I love Bookly and will continue to use their application for the statistics on my reading skills, but I and others would greatly appreciate if the developers reconsider making accessibility something that their application users must pay for. UPDATE: Accessibility is getting better with the updates as they come. Keep it up!.Version: 1.12.2
Rate books with half stars!!I do pay for the subscription version of this app, so I think that has HEAVILY contributed to my experience with this app. That being said, I’m obsessed with the habit tracking aspect, love that I can more accurately track what exactly I’m reading, and love earning gems to change different features within the app to make it more my aesthetic. I love being able to track daily, monthly, and yearly goals. I also really like that when adding a new book, I can specify how many pages, or how much time, there are in a book, rather than searching for the exact edition on apps like Goodreads. I like the assistant tab, however I feel that it could be more detailed. So far, I’ve participated in two Bookly readathons, which I enjoyed immensely. Readathons on Bookly have certainly helped inspire me to do more reading than my daily goal, which is great (if that’s feasible!). I really like the Stats section and I like that books can be rating with half stars! Yes, half stars!! Overall, I would recommend this app, but only if you plan to use it with the subscription..Version: 1.18.6
Enjoyable! This app is my favorite reading tracker to date and even once in a while has book marathons that you can participate in to win prizes (which i wish happened more often). The only reason this book isn’t full 5 stars is because you need to pay to use this app. The app makes you delete after you reach a capacity of 5 books and it feels only free as a trial run. After that it’s 5$ a month! Which to me is pretty steep, I wish it was a one time payment of 10$ or something to that capacity. I do pay for the app but I wish there was a student option for 1-3$ to help out college or even high school students. There are also diamonds that you earn in the game for reading and completing goals that I wish you could do more with besides just buy app appearances. Maybe include gift cards or a one month off coupon because after a while you just start accumulating diamonds that prove useless. But overall, this app has a lot of useful tools and in depth personal reading statistics that makes reading more fun for me and encourages me to read more by beating my previous stats! I often find myself referring this app to friends, with the precautions mentioned above..Version: 1.12.17
Good app, needs improvementI’m enjoying this app, but it still needs a lot of fixes in the pro version. The Goodreads import isn’t seamless, if you have a large library (like in the 500+) it’s a PITA to organize. It doesn’t automatically get the the covers so you have to manually do it. Also some of the books from the import are incorrect. This wouldn’t be an issue if you could mass delete the books you don’t want. So a mass delete option is needed. The app also crashes with large library imported. You’ll be scrolling though the books added and it just crashes. Searching to add a book doesn’t always come up with the right book. Adding it manually sometimes doesn’t have the right cover, which results in you having to find it online, save the cover to your device and upload yourself. It’s a great app if you want to use it in real time (no retroactively adding stuff). The stat tracking info graphs are a lot fun, especially if you like sharing that kind of stuff on social media. Overall I’ll keep an eye on the updates and continue using the free version. As it is, pro feels like it’s still in beta. I could see myself paying if it becomes more stable and refine the import system..Version: 1.15.5
Amazing app •*a issue with iOS widgets*•Love the app and it’s even better that there are widgets. I have no complaints for the app itself, just download it, I have pro as well, and it’s so helpful having the assistant. Though, with the widget feature there is an issue for me. I know the brand is a blue color, but when my whole iPhone aesthetic is different colors and my Bookly widgets are a bright blue, it gets annoying. Also as reader that doesn’t base progress on time I read. Yes, I like to track it and see if I’m getting faster, but especially since each book has bigger/ smaller pages or more/less words, I don’t compare pages to time. Therefore, having the only widget options be the average TIME I read this week, the amount of TIME I read this week, and/or the amount of time it takes, is a little disappointing for me. My main suggestion is to maybe add a few more color variety. But, MAINLY adding page progress to the widgets. Seeing my progress in pages is what motivates me and only being able to see that in my bullet journal is kinda sad. This is just a personal pet peeve and is definitely not something that makes me dislike the app more..Version: 1.9.36
So far so goodI’ve been using Bookly for a week. Figuring out how to use it is easy. I think I am reading more now. I don’t care for it constantly asking you to post your reading progress to social media. I read for hours a day so it would be a nuisance to others. Plus it’s nobody’s business what I read. I wish you could turn it on and off. Maybe if you were in a reading group it would be useful keeping the others posted. But for everyday use it’s annoying. Update: I’m impressed, the developer replied telling me how to turn off the social media option. Perhaps I was a little unfair earlier. When the app asked me to review I had just finished my 3rd or 4th reading session that day and was exasperated with it constantly wanting me to post. It’s been a few days and I am truly enjoying the app. Too bad they can’t partner with Kindle to integrate into my Oasis. I’m definitely reading more and enjoying seeing my progress. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone wanting to keep track of their reading. I’ve updated my rating to 5 stars from 4..Version: 1.10.3
Excellent AppI love this app more than I thought I would! I don’t even mind paying the subscription for the extra ratings and more books. I even enjoy the reading session timer which I didn’t think I would use because I didn’t download this app to try and read more I read plenty. That being said there still isn’t a book app that does what a bookworm would love for it to do. The carousel on the homepage is annoying and I would like it better if I could just catalogue my books (especially on a little bookshelf I could organize because the collections in this app are great!!) and mark which ones I own (there is a borrow/lent feature but I would like to see which books I have so I don’t accidentally buy them again which I have done 😅) also as much I love the info graphic I would like to see my reviews and thoughts more. Then I could share it with more meaningful info than how many pages I read. I like seeing the stats but I don’t think my friends care that I read a page a minute. I would like an overall thoughts because I love the reflection but maybe like a comment section with my rating..Version: 1.13.7
I love this app, but starting to running some issuesSo I discovered this app about last May and I paid for a year membership because that’s how interested I am, and it’s really got me reading more. I finished my year goal In like two months which was to read 25 books so I’m very thoroughly Enjoying this app, and it helps me track what I’ve read. But just this week I’ve started noticing an issue where I put the time going in and then I’ll go and read my book and then put my book down after like 15 minutes, only to discover that it didn’t keep the time going, even though I never pressed pause on the timer, or anything to stop it I was really enjoying seeing how long it took me to finish books, but now currently all the books I’ve been reading lately are screwed up because of the time thing. in the little activity tracker, I have going on my phone on the lock screen says a different time than the time that the app says I just started running into this issue and I’m very disappointed in it. Hopefully it can be fixed because I do really enjoy. He was like this app..Version: 1.16.11
If fixes are made then the app will be great! There are so many things I love about this app. But, there are two things that are very frustrating to deal with. 1) When categorizing a book, you have to choose all of the categories you want each time. Why can’t you simply add (check) or remove (uncheck) categories for a book? It is annoying to have to check so many categories when you simply wanted to add or remove one. It is even more annoying for a book that hasn’t been read yet and you can’t always remember what categories are needed for the book. 2) If you have two categories that each have the same word in it then books added to one will automatically be added to the other. This was so frustrating to deal. At first, I thought the app was glitching and accidentally added books to random categories, but I realized the issue later on. I have niche categories that I want to place my books in and it should be possible to have two categories that each have the word “paranormal” in it. Please please please fix these issues! I would love to continue using this app, but these issues are making it hard to use..Version: 1.15.5
BooklyI absolutely love using Bookly! Since I downloaded it, my reading habits have improved so much. In fact, I’ve been able to double the number of books I read each month! Bookly has truly helped me stay on track with my reading goals. What makes it even better is how well it suits visual learners like me. The app not only tracks your reading but also times it, helping you stay focused and motivated. Every time I hit a reading milestone, like reading for 30 minutes, I earn diamonds, which I can use to customize my reading buddy avatar. There’s even the option to buy new clothes for your avatar, which adds a fun and personalized touch to the experience. Overall, Bookly is a fantastic app for anyone looking to improve their reading skills while making the process enjoyable and interactive. The rewards system and tracking features really motivate me to keep reading, and the app’s design is so user-friendly. It’s definitely a must-have for anyone who loves to read and wants to get more out of their reading sessions.Version: 1.16.4
Cool but…Bookly is cool, it’s a nice app to track & store your library. A couple of things I wish were different though, for one I wish that the app would recognize the actual date you finished the book and not the date it was inputed. For example, I downloaded bookly just recently (later into this month) so, I included the books i’d already read for the month and their reading sessions, including the date it was completed but, bookly registers as completed with the date I updated it (I finished a book on Jan 5th, added the update in Jan 14th so now it shows the book was completed on Jan 14th). I know, it’s not a big deal but, it’d be nice for stats so it shows I completed books on multiple days throughout the month & not just the one I added the submissions. Secondly, i’d like to be able to change the layout of my uploaded books, the carousel is nice but i’d like to have my books in a list/small icons format like it does when you go into the categories section but.. on the main page if that makes sense. Overall the app is cool, I pay the subscription and I guess it’s worth it?.Version: 1.14.1
Love the features, still needs helpI love having a timer built in to track my reading because simply using a clock, I forget when I started! One huge problem is the lack of completion in the book listings. Not all of them have cover art, I wish you could search by ISBN especially when you are reading an ebook copy and have a different ISBN so your page numbers match. I Amon page 335 of Orange Is The New Black in Apple Books, and total, with acknowledgments, a bonus interview, and reading group questions, the book is actually 581 pages. I have tried editing this, but it keeps resetting to 331 as listed. I’m afraid of losing my progress of time and days read if I search out the ebook copy, but I want accuracy in my stats. That’s over 250 pages difference and I want it included in my stats. Please change it to search by ISBN and editing privileges to users. I would like to see it where users can submit an edit, and it then has tons reviewed by a team member to make sure EVERYTHING matches for the correct ISBNs..Version: 1.16.9
SynchronicityI recently updated both devices with the latest version, and I hoped that would’ve fixed my problem. I have Bookly on both my iPad and iPhone. I did a test to see if what I do on one device would show on the other. While reading during my lunch break yesterday, I used my iPad to track the session. Then while reading before bed, I used my phone. Oddly enough, the iPad shows both sessions, but my phone does not show the one I did during lunch. I tried manually adding a session but that didn’t work - which is likely due to the sessions recorded on my phone got all wonky. Instead of starting at the beginning, it’s saying I started at page 27, which is the number of pages I read during my break. I even tried manually fixing the sessions that do show on the phone and then adding the missing session, but it didn’t work either. I do have an older iPhone and my iPad is new, but both devices have the same exact app update, so they should be synchronized. I love the vibes of this app, but more and more, I lean towards using other apps that don’t have the problems that I’ve had with this one. Synchronicity matters..Version: 1.18.1
DisappointedFirst of all, I was playing around with this app. I added a book I already read to see how it worked (saw this in another review) and it didn’t let me delete it? You actually have to pay to do that! And second you can’t add more than 10 books before your hit with the limit and have to pay yet again!? I understand paying for certain things but to DELETE and ADD books you want to read is crazy to me. I mean adding books it’s the whole purpose of this app (to track them) and they aren’t even letting you do that? I would personally just use another app or your notes😂. This needs a lot of work. P.S- don’t get me wrong. This is a neat app. The background music, the timer, adding quotes and your thoughts. As well as words you don’t understand. I just think they're asking to pay for the wrong things. If you were to ask me to pay for any of the things listed above like background music and stuff, that’s fine because thats a PLUS. Deleting and adding though? I just don’t see it..Version: 1.13.1
There’s really good potential, but…There’s some really good potential with this app. It’s a fun and clever book tracker that makes it fun to track your reading. *However* there’s some huge pain points for me. ——— I am a hybrid digital reader, often switching between ebook and audio versions of the same book. This makes it really confusing on what format I should choose when adding the book and then how I should be using the reading session features. I’ve just been doing “percentage” and it works ok. But one thing I hate is that you can’t go in and change from audio book to percentage or vice versa after adding the book. So it means that I pretty much need to stick with using percentage 100% of the time when adding books to my TBR if I don’t want to add them all over again to change the reading format once I actually start reading the book. ——— Another huge pain point for those of us Bookly newbies adding books we’ve already read… there’s no way to add a start date when you select “book I read in the past”. So you have to add it *without* selecting “book I read in the past”, then add a reading session with the start date (backdated), and then change the book to complete. Whyyyyyyyy, just let me pick a start date. ——— The UI is clunky in general imo. When adding books it’s kind of confusing, and then I find that the covers are rarely accurate and I have to fix it almost every time. Theres a ton of other book tracking apps that don’t have this issue at all. And again, It’s just all around clunky and glitchy to go in and edit your books after adding them. ——— While I love the widgets - they are a super ugly blue color that I’d never want on my Home Screen. I’d love the ability to change the widget appearance you like can the app icon (using diamonds or not). Or even just make it a neutral white or grey instead of blue. —— Thanks!.Version: 1.12.16
Best App for ReadersI’ve been using Bookly (formally known as Bookout) for years now, and I can’t say that I really use another app more. I’m a huge reader, and Goodreads is nice but this is honestly way better. It lets me keep track of all my books read in a super easy format and the in for graphics of my reading stats are amazing. I have a long streak that I’m trying to keep up, because this app makes me WANT to read more and more. The quotes feature and thoughts feature are both awesome and hilarious looking back after you finish a book. The only suggestions for the developers I have would be to allow a book to be reread, and maybe even implementing a social feature like Goodreads where you can add other readers and see their books/stats! But beyond that, the developers are awesome and are constantly updating the app to make it better. Some may see the paywall as annoying, but it’s paid for itself hundreds of times over in my opinion, and if you’re a reader this app is the best thing for us!.Version: 1.9.9
Great way to track your reading!I started using the app earlier this year and eventually upgraded, as it’s been such a helpful resource to help me track what I’ve read, what I’m reading, and what I want to read. I love that I can set my own goals for daily, monthly, and yearly reading. I was going through a reader’s slump for so long, so this has helped me get back into the groove. In addition to my own personal goals, there are occasional readathons, for chances to win prizes, which gives an extra boost for making it that much more fun and exciting. There are options to add notes, track new words, and add quotes from readings as well, which can then be turned into infographics once you’ve finished a book. The assistant is fantastic, helps keep you on track with goals, and there’s a cute selection of icons, characters, and more to make it a little bit more fun. While not everything results in an actual “prize” per se, this app has made it such a fun way to incentivize readers in so many different ways..Version: 1.14
Decent way to keep track of booksSo I do like the calendar where I can get a visual representation of the books I’ve read that month, that is my main reason for using this app. It’s really neat to see how many books I can cram into a month and how long I spend on each book but the reason I’m giving this 3 stars and not 4/5 is because of the INCESSANT pop-up with the “yearly plus”. Literally every time I get on it’s there. Every time I add a reading session, it’s there. Every time I go to look at the calendar..it’s there! I understand I can pay to get the plus. I really do not need a constant reminder of it every time I scroll. Apart from things that should be a basic function of the free part of the app ( like adding characters and thoughts while reading ) I don’t mind the limited amount of things you can do on the app. Like I said I enjoy the calendar and it’s the whole reason I use the app to begin with. But for the love of all things Holy, please stop shoving the annual subscription on every single scroll! If the app hadn’t pushed it so hard I probably would have actually gotten it, but now absolutely not..Version: 1.16.1
Great! Even just using the free version.I was looking for an app to simply count my pages per day read but this does so much more! FOR FREE! Ya there’s a pro version and I may eventually want to get it but the free version lets you track pages, time read, & pages to go. Also let’s you see the % of the book you’ve read so far AND if the app incorrectly has the number of total pages of the book, you can edit that as well. Also there is a little white noise feature with a few different options. You can jot down thoughts, quotes from the book, give yourself a countdown timer, and take note of a new word you learned & the definition. ALL FOR FREE!!!! You can earn gems (points) too by reading or watching ads and you can edit the icon of the app (yes I watched like 20 ads to change the icon to the one I liked best). Overall, I love it! You can also use the earned gems to add books to track in the app since the free version starts with only giving you 10 books you can track. 10/10 recommend.Version: 1.10.4
Good appI’ll be honest, I paid the $20 for a single year to get rid of the ads because they were driving me nuts. The reading timer is useful in seeing how long it takes you to finish a book but sometimes you don’t always want to mess with it. I LOVE the background noise you can play to drown out life while you read. My wife tends to talk and be loud while I read and using my noise canceling headphones with some rain sounds lets me get immersed in a book. One thing I wish the app did more of was let you set goals and track what books you read. I like that in good reads you can see a page with 3 categories, one for TBR, one for currently reading, and one for read. The currently reading section lets you go in and update your progress by just updating the page # or percentage which is nice because it doesn’t make you feel beholden to a timer. Overall it is a decent app and I will keep using it. I’ve been using it for 5 books now and I’ll keep using it. I can’t say much more than that as I’m still new to the stats and other features.Version: 1.15.5
Genuinely so awesomeI've tried to find alternatives for this app because I think $10 a month for an app that gives you stats is crazy. But honestly, the features you get for free are great. If you pay that premium price, there's some select cool stuff you can do, but I don't think it significantly changes the use of the app if you don't have it. It works on the apple watch too. I love having this info about my reading habits and so far, there really is not anything I would change about it. It takes a little bit to get used to if you're a reader who just jumps into a book whenever and wherever. You have to make a conscious effort to start the timer and stop it. It can also lead to being hyper focused on reading faster or more pages to change your stats, which is a bit of a double edged sword for me. The widgets are SO CUTE. I do think a web version of this would be awesome for the quotes and character list section. It would just be a lot faster. But this is great.Version: 1.15.6
Search feature needs to be fixedI’ve been using this app for two years and I found it to be incredibly useful for cataloging my library, keeping track of reading stats, etc. However, since October the search feature has stopped working. I have almost 2,000 books catalogued in the app, and I’m unable to search them. I’ve reached out to support and was told they’d have a fix (in October). They’ve had a few updates since then and none of them have fixed the search feature, which means I have to scroll through hundreds of books to find a book in my catalog to then start reading it. As of the most recent update, the app now closes any time I even hit the search button. If you scan a book and immediately start reading it, great, but if you plan on reading something you scanned let’s say a year ago, good luck. I also use this app to search when I’m out before I buy books to make sure I don’t buy duplicates, which I have now done unfortunately because of the broken search bar. Please fix this feature. Without it the app is basically unusable..Version: 1.18.2
Great App but not for all Kindle BooksI love Bookly—it has helped improve my reading habits demonstrably. Just getting your personal library listed in the app is a great motivator for me to get to books I want to read but never seem to get to. The only reason I don’t give it 5 Stars is that none of the great progress-tracking features work with the many Kindle or other e-books that provide “locations” rather than page numbers, especially when the same ebook contains multiple volumes or “books” within it. Often one can’t know if an ebook purchase will provide true pagination or only location numbers. It is next to impossible to keep track of progress on Bookly with these sorts of ebooks. If the latter, you can’t track your progress on Bookly. Is there a chance of adding an option to track reading progress by location? (The app does allow tracking of progress by percentage, but that is of little help since, in longer books, 1% can amount to many pages, sometimes more than a single reading session.). Thanks..Version: 1.14
Almost perfectThere is a lot I like about this app, and it has helped me get back into reading daily. I like the data it shows and it is easy to add books into it. However it does have some hiccups, particularly with audio books. Unlike with normal books, you can’t edit the length of an audio book, so it gives terribly off hours/day finishing estimations. You also can’t change a book from physical to audio or vice versa. I have some books in both forms. There are some other odd things, like I am not sure why, but one book is listen twice under my finished reading goal, I have tried removing it and finishing it again and don’t know why that is happening. I do also wish it had more user interactions, like if we could see reviews for books or who else is reading books. I do wish it didn’t have the ai chat thing, I honestly don’t see the point of it and I wish there was more uses for the diamonds and gems. Overall I think the app is decent but it does feel like it has a lot of room to grow..Version: 1.16.6
Reading time bugI love this app and I’ve been using it since January to track my reading this year. The only problem I’m noticing recently (and I haven’t found any customer support or email to contact any app devs about this?) is that after I finish a reading session, it doesn’t save the time I read - for example, I JUST finished reading for 32 minutes but when I clicked “end session” it said I read 0 minutes. And this doesn’t just happen when I finish a session, it’s also happened whenever I’ve had to pause a session and then resume it; sometimes the timer wont resume in the app but the widget on my Lock Screen that appears during a reading session shows the timer is still going. It’s definitely not a huge problem, just annoying because now for this most recent session that wasn’t recorded, I now have to start a season and just wait 32 minutes again to end it so it doesn’t throw off my data on my reading speed or how much time I have left to read until my book is done..Version: 1.15.5
A little upset and annoyedI downloaded this a few months ago but only started getting into using it this week. I did not realize that there was a limit in books and I had added books that I had already read just to rate them and keep track of what I’ve read in the past. Well, I started reading a book series this week and I had finished the first two and went to add the next book so I could start tracking it. I put in all the information in and went to add it but it wouldn’t let me unless I got pro. So I though that maybe I could delete the books that I read before I got the app. But of course I couldn’t unless I got pro, which is a load of bull crap. I’m very annoyed. I then thought maybe if I delete and redownload the app I could only add the books I’m currently reading but then I would lose all of the reading I had already done. Like I said I’m very annoyed, mad and upset. I’m only giving it three stars because I still think the app is great but mad about the book limit. I think the limit should be at least higher. Or at most 100 or something..Version: 1.12.14

Good for everyoneOn the day a redownloaded Bookly I also recommended it to my 12 year old niece who wants to be a reader. In the first three days she finished a book and was actively choosing to put her phone down and just read. It’s amazigg n what little goals and an app can do for a tech kid. Personally I’m just trying to get back into the habit and really enjoyed Bookly last time. Would recommend if you’re in need of some encouragement to get into, or back into, reading..Version: 1.17
