Boston is steeped in Revolutionary War era history, from the Tea Party to the Battle of Bunker Hill. Join me, as we start this narrated walking tour at the site of the original Liberty Tree, then follow the well-marked Freedom Trail.

See Boston the way it was meant to be seen: on foot. The tour includes 18 sites and is about 2.5 miles long. Rain? Take a break and resume later. It's like having your own personal guide, at a fraction of the price. Good for tourists and locals of all ages.

All Two Buck Tours include maps with GPS, directions, photos, interesting information about each site, and are narrated in English. No schedules, no crowds, no worries.

Not visiting Boston anytime soon? The history and photos will let you experience the city from your town.

Historic Boston Positive Reviews

Fantastic Audio Tour!I normally don’t write app reviews, but I loved this one so much I wanted to let others know how valuable this app was to our trip! This was our family’s first trip to Boston, we had one day, and none of us relished the thought of a guided tour. I found Boston Tour in the App Store and decided the $1.99 price was worth it. I loved that the stops were in order, the audio guide was engaging, and we were able to move at our own pace. The GPS map made it easy to see where we were in conjunction to the next stop. Many times, we would listen to the information about the next site while we walked to it, so that by the time we stopped, we could decide how much or little we wanted to explore. We passed a couple of tour groups, and for the most part, it looked like a huge mass of people all jockeying for a good position close to the guide, who was fighting to be heard over the city noises. I was more than happy to pay $1.99 for my own “private tour guide”. We have one Apple ID, so we were able to share the app. Even if each of us had needed to purchase our own, it would have been worth every penny..Version: 1.4

Just RightThe amount of content is just right and the tour is easy to follow. The author provides directions to the next stop but I preferred using my walking GPS. I just toggled between the tour and the GPS when required. I would usually listen to the info about the next stop while walking. Skip the first step - as she said, the tree is long gone. Although by far the longest walk, don’t miss the navy ship yard. Make sure you have your ID in order to get on the ships free of charge. I moved from location to location, not spending much time (other than the ship yard) at any one. Completed it in an afternoon. Enjoy!.Version: 1.8

Not quite what I expectedI was under the impression that the audio in this tour would begin when you approached a location on the Freedom Trail. It doesn’t. You have to start it yourself. It requires you to tap the right spot on your screen a few times to load each one. The text is provided along with a few pictures, so the narration really isn’t even necessary. You can read it much more quickly. Also frustrating is you can’t leave the app to snap a picture and have the narration continue. The narration stops. The bottom line: get yourself a pamphlet on the Freedom Trail and do it yourself. Better yet, pay a bit extra and get a professionally led tour. I was watching the tour groups being led by an animated guide and was wishing I had signed up..Version: 1.7

Freedom TrailThe Freedom Trail is well marked and easy to follow on your own. And, this app made it even better! You can listen to the narration at each stop and there are good historical photos. Plus, it’s nice to be able to stop and start when you want. If there are several people in your group, you can use Family Sharing..Version: 1.2

Worth it!If you’re questioning whether to spend the $2 for this walking guide, I highly recommend it! We enjoyed the map and the narration at each stop. Additionally, it allowed us to move along at our own pace and stop for lunch or a coffee when we wanted..Version: 1.5

Awesome tour guideThe information on each attraction was interesting and informative, and the historic pictures were good. Note - this walk took us about 5 hours, with stops; you might want to split it over 2 days..Version: 1.0

Great tourThis was a great way to see the historic sights of Boston on our own time! We stopped for lunch and we didn’t go into all of the places that we weren’t as interested in. I’d recommend this to anyone, young or old!.Version: 1.7

Fun!The kids and adults in our group all enjoyed this tour. The teen, especially, was happy to not be part of a group tour. We could take our time and wander around a couple of the cemeteries - very fun!.Version: 1.0

Terrific AppWell worth the few bucks. I felt it was even more informative than the other tours people were taking. Get this app when visiting the freedom trail..Version: 2.0

Totally Worth ItUsed this on our recent trip to Boston. Excellent info for each stop on the Freedom Trail. Grateful for all the extras about women and BIPOC included..Version: 3.5

Lots of fun, easy to useA great way to experience the Freedom Trail even during the pandemic. Learned lots of fun new things, and the narration was very polished and well-done..Version: 3.1

Informative and simpleWonderful app. Great guide. Easy to use. Helpful every step of the way..Version: 2.5

Great Tour!Well done! We should have started earlier in the day though. We missed getting on the USS Constitution because we arrived as it was closing. Definitely make a whole day of it if you want to linger at each location. Some stops only take cash if you want to go in (Paul Revere House). A couple notes on the map view (as of 5/21/18): marked pin #11 for the old state house is at the back of the building. The discussion talks about the balcony, but it’s on the other end of the building. Marked pin #12 for the Boston Massacre site should be in the same place. Both 11 and 12 should be at the corner of State and Devonshire. (If you zoom in on the map, you can see the Boston Massacre site on the corner.) You might want to take headphones to listen to the audio. We did this on a weekday and some spots were hard to listen in because of street noise. We managed to find quiet places to listen, but some couldn’t be heard when right by the marked location. All in all this tour made for a fun day..Version: 1.2

Very GoodWe visit Boston monthly and never tire of walking the Trail. This app is the best of the Freedom Trail apps. However, the photo of BLM terrorists and their supporters is absolutely unnecessary. Makes this tourism app politically charged..Version: 3.5
