Game hates you but is f2p friendly enoughGame has a bunch of archaic systems and really terrible rates. Firstly let's get this out of the way, it is a basic turnbased rpg, nothing fancy, not good or bad, perfectly serviceable. I treat this game more like a novel while turning my brain off for the majority of content. The game doesnt expect you to collect everything nor does it make every high rarity unit good. The game is VERY stingy with currency too, i will not defend this. Fortunately it is f2p friendly enough as 98% of the game is objectively proven to be able to be cleared by low rarity and free units as long as you build smart. You can borrow a friend's support unit so you dont need to fret too much if you need to borrow an overpowered unit. The game shines in the story and characters which is how they make you roll for mediocre units against your better judgment. The game actually does expect you to play so there is no auto battle and you actually have to clear the story enough to be able to participate in these monotonously long events. Thankfully you can borrow friend units and they give you handicap abilities to use if you cant clear it with confidence. I give it 4 stars because the game is purely a mobile game; a game that wants you to play for brief intervals at most due to a stamina system so you cant no life it. Reason 2 is because the game is easy and you dont need every new shiny (mediocre) unit. If you have self control and do not expect to get everything with a good story attached then go for it..Version: 2.83.2
The Gotcha is fine, completely F2PAfter seeing many of the reviews, I just couldn’t hold my tongue anymore: this is the first time I feel obligated to write a review. Why do people complain about the gotcha? It is all luck, and you can easily save up to 300+ sq for rolls within a few months. In fact, I got two of my most favorite characters through 2 single pulls. For those who said that you can’t get good gold servants, I would like to ask what about the event free gold servants? NP level 5 and completely free and many of which are extremely powerful and popular characters. Even low stars characters have their charm! Every character in this game is carefully crafted and all provide their own value to the game: if you only love a character for their rarity, then you are definitely not playing this game right. You can’t get the servant you want easily? That’s the point: when you roll for someone it actually have sentiment. I have spent more than 400+ sq for a single copy of Abigail Williams, which I have saved for many months. Getting her means a lot to me, much more than any other gotcha games where they basically hand you free gold characters. So what? Do you really expect to get every character you see with every new banner? You just throw in a couple of rolls and cry about how you can’t get the servant you want? Grow up! If you are a player who comes in and expect free servants and free rolls all the time and couldn’t care less about the stories or the characters, then you are in the wrong place. This is not some game that rewards you for doing nothing..Version: 2.32.0
Account recoveryFor anyone it concerns, you can reach out to customer support and they can help get you your account back, speaking from personal experience. Drop rates can be hit/miss so if that’s your only reason for playing, you probably won’t like it here. The story is pretty entertaining especially compared to other gachas that primarily aim to cultivate gambling addictions and you have to be into that in order to enjoy the game. Some fights can be pretty hard to get done, but aside from challenge quests(which I haven’t seen in a while) you can still get by with story servants and friend servants(it’ll still be painstaking). All in all, it’s a game for FATE fans. You gotta want to play it lol. I also would recommend not buying SQ’s unless it’s for one of the guaranteed summons(unless of course you have the money to spare). Now is a pretty good time to get into it because you don’t have to wait for the story to come out, most of it is already done, so you can just play through. It can be pretty grindy if you really want to max everyone out but it’s not mandatory, I only go to those lengths for my favorites. For the best cost:performance ratio get skills to level 6 and NP’s to no more than 2/3. Also take advantage of those low star units, they can be really good. Nearly every premium unit has a free low star version that’s a lot easier to max out, and usually has a much higher NP gain rate..Version: 2.57.0
FGO is great for bored anime fans.Fate/Grand Order is overall a fun and rewarding game for RPG fans. The story is decent and Fate’s huge cast of historical and mythological characters are almost all like-able and fun. I’d love to go drinking with Astolfo, or play video games with Medusa. It can be a little boring at times if you’ve nothing to do but daily missions, but I find I always come back to it when new content is released. The gacha is stingey with 4 and 5 star servants, but the result is that you treasure your favorite team members all the more; you have a unique team that you assembled, and no one else is likely to play the game exactly like you as a result. You can put your best people on your support squad and show them off to other players who will be able to summon them for help in the story/free play. I find other people love to use my level 85 Hercules for difficult boss fights, or my level 62 Siegfried if they have to face down some dragons. It feels good to know that other people out there value my servants enough to call on them for help. The game is free, so you have nothing to lose. Give it a shot if it’s your kind of game and you may find yourself spending a little downtime every day leveling up your servants like I do. Just don’t expect to see many five star servants show up. After a full year of playing, my only 5 star servant is the archer class “Nikola Tesla.” But again, as a result, Tesla is all the more special to me for this exact reason, knowing so few others out there have him on their team. 4 stars..Version: 1.14.0
Great game, horrible scouting systemI actually love playing this game and I got the chance on English ver to be lucky and get two 5 star Gilgamesh card's on my second scouting pull. The game is fun, if you have the luck of actually pulling 4 or 5 stars. The Japanese ver or my other account is a different story. Unlike other games where it's easy to obtain in-game currency and such, this game is a lot different. It's very rare for me at least to obtain items I need to ascend my characters and since there's such a low chance of obtaining even a 4 star, my team is just one weak 4 star and the rest are 3 star. It takes the fun out of the game when you have your characters dying because they are too weak, and not having the materials to strengthen them. Also, yes it says "4 star card or CE guaranteed " but since the drop rate for strong servants is extremely small, I get stuck with lots of 4/5 star craft essences and not enough strong characters to use it on!! I mean, it's enjoyable to play when you have good cards on your team, which is why I like to play on the English ver because I was lucky enough to pull a 5 star card. On my Japanese account it gets very depressing before scouting being like "alright if I can pull a Gilgamesh on my first try on English, getting so-and-so will be easy!" And then getting a bunch of 3 star servants. Fun game, just better scouting system, please!! (At least in games like llsif you have SR and above in scouting, can FGO be more like that?? :,( ).Version: 1.4.0
Not For EveryoneI’ve been playing Fate for around 4 years of my life, so I may be biased. I do agree the gacha system is garbage. There’s several times in the past where I would spend money and get nothing in return. It was especially dark during these times and I definitely understand the hatred. It doesn’t help that JP just now got a pity system and NA is 2 years behind. However, I don’t think Fate is particularly a bad game just because of the gacha system. Fate is a strategy game. It’s not (at least not exactly) a “collect your waifu or husbando” game. Sure that’s an aspect of it. Grind and get your favorite hero. But at it’s core, Fate relies on strategy. All heroes and anti-heroes, despite t their star rating, can be utilized in battle. And I think that’s what makes Fate partly exciting. I remember a time when I used a tank team build and it took me around 100 turns to finish a battle without my team being completely wiped out. You don’t have to spend money to get good characters. Of course you should get some sort of high rate, good character if you spend money, and it’s unfair if you don’t get anything. But spending money is your choice. I’ve been F2P for the past year and a half now and Fate is still enjoyable. Granted that I have been playing for 4 years. Fate is a game of strategy, patience, and a casual game overall. I don’t think it’s a game where you spend your whole day on it to grind (unless you really want to). And honestly, after experiencing the Fate gacha, it makes other gacha games look heavenly compared to it. That’s a plus, isn’t it?.Version: 2.27.0
Not your typical gachaFate/GO like its other gacha brethren has a ranking for its servants and craft essences in the for of a star ranking between 1 and 5. Now usually when it comes to a gacha game it's implied that the more stars tacked onto something the better it is. This is where Fate/GO alters from the rest of the gacha scene as a whole, in that just about any servant can be viable given team composition and craft essence attached to them. By far the best example of this comes in the form of 3 star lancer cú chulainn. While cú may have lower stats than 4 and 5 star units, his skills are what make him so amazing. With out going into depth on cú's skills I'll just summarize with that they essentially make him unkillable if you use them wisely. Cú is so good that he actually makes some 4 star units look bad in comparison. As for craft essences there are many that have similar effects with various levels of bonuses depending on rank, but there are still many unique craft essences in the 3-5 star range that can find use on just about any servant. The point of this long block of texts is just to say that stars don't define what is good or bad in this game. Don't be afraid to play around with low star units because some can potentially out class high star units if used to their fullest potential. With this in mind I hope if you're just now downloading Fate/GO that you keep this information in mind when you play and to have fun, I know I am..Version: 1.10.0
Gacha game, but still really goodIf you like the fate/ series its a good game. Starts you off with 1 free guaronteed 4 star servant now. Having pretty low 5* servant rates is its worst trait though. After that everything is really good. From being a recent gacha player the last few years and hating most of them I have some points of view to differentiate them. Most gachas want you to pay for the specific (whatever) because its OP. *"cant troll game without this special move" This game does it because they are Slightly better but mostly because its 'your favorite' characters/heros. (Or theyre scandalously pretty) and yes some are op. But you dont Need it and can use anyone who plays servants too. (Like their high level servant you coukdnt get like gilgamesh. *me. I have 10 freinds who have him and use him all the time. Also some of the Free 3 star and under characters are Super cool and powerful like laughably unkillable cu chulainn. (which doesnt happen often in other gachas, gotta pay for those, and its all chance). Even one of the worst rated 5* characters Ive gotten twice in a row now from free/earned quarts is awesome. (Mordred) gameplay is very easy to get and beat so far as well so its just having fun. Plus free 4 star servants every month or two so far balance it out well. Save your quarts for the ones you know you want though. And my trick is to save your friend points to do a Bunch of those before trying the quarts summons. Ive gotten a 5 star more times like that and doing 1 summon than spending money and doing 30 summons too. RNG is what it is too though..Version: 1.9.0
Among the strangest, and greatest, gachas to ever existI did a review of this game a few dozen hours in. I thought I knew how it worked. I didn’t. I’ll spare you the details; it has one of the most brutally hard difficulty curves in any video game I’ve played. It is not an easy mobile game- it goes from letting you play around to forcing strategy out of you like a juice presser in a few chapters, often without an easy remedy available no matter how much money you throw at the problem. The pull rates are really, really bad, the guarantee is ridiculously high, the game looks and (until you get to late game) feels old, and it’s super convoluted story wise and hard to get into. Five stars. That’s it. Avalon Le Fe and its prior chapters are five stars. And the fact that you can genuinely use anyone you want is a little cherry on top. The game is not generous in the typical sense- five stars are a real rarity- but it is a wonderful game with a story that’s genuinely, seriously compelling once you hit the second arc. Not like, Blue Archive “compelling”, not Genshin Impact “compelling”, I mean honest to god masterfully written (I read big old books so I’ve got bona fides on this subject, trust), to the point where some chapters had me loving every single character, playable or not. I wouldn’t blame a person for bouncing off this game. But for those who end up enjoying it, no other mobile game, or really game in general, will scratch that itch like this does. So, give being a master a shot. I’ve yet to meet a person who knew that they’d like Fate when they first tried it- but everyone who loves it never leaves it..Version: 2.83.1
Play for the game, not the rarityI have been playing this game for about 3 years, I enjoy it to pieces and its one of the few games I have stayed committed to for over a month. I enjoy that more additions are being added to the game including stories and character interludes. Since the game has come out they have improved the amount of quartz a person gets for completing tasks which is definitely a step in the right direction. I enjoy the mechanics that are simple enough to understand quickly but deep enough to explore and experiment. I like that they show love to character after their release because they know that somewhere someone cares about them (except Geronimo and Gilles, sorry guys fingers crossed you get a buff soon) That being said if you‘re playing this game because you want a fancy 5 star character then your out of luck. Firstly the 5 and 4 stars are good but nearly every character is good at something. You want a servant who can survive long skirmishes, Cu. Dpr? Robin Hood. Farmer, Arash. And so on. All the characters I mentioned are 3 star or lower. I think it is important to mention that in this game it is good to try and get new/better characters. But part of the fun, at least for me is figuring out how to do good with what you got. No harm chasing the dream and going for Merlin. But when that doesn‘t work don‘t hate the game when you have to relay on Hans. It‘s not like the game is ruined just because you don‘t have a shiny new toy. Look at the YouTuber Hans Christian Memerson, he has made a point of getting just as far as everyone else has (ie beating the main quests which can get pretty hard) with rarity 3 and below only occasionally using 4 star free event characters..Version: 2.12.0
NP Levels don’t really matter...People here are complaining about how you “need multiple copies of the same 5 star servant to bring out its max potential”. That’s really a stretch. When you feed another 5 Star servant to your main copy, it levels up their Noble Phantasm and makes it a bit better. But I think you guys are misunderstanding the point of that mechanic. It doesn’t really do that much to warrant you spending money to NP Level 5 that servant. It’s there so that people who accidentally get that servant again in the Gacha don’t feel like they wasted too much of their money for nothing, since there’s no use for multiple copies of a servant aside from feeding it to your original copy and leveling its Noble Phantasm. Also, if you’re getting stuck on Okeanos, you’re just not playing the game correctly. When I was playing the Japanese version, my luck was pretty bad, so I only had one 4 Star from the guaranteed starting roll. (Whoever said they were lucky to get a 4 star servant by rerolling their account is a liar because you’re guarenteed a 4 star servant or higher on your first 10 roll) I heard Okeanos with a team of Siegfried(4Star), Medusa(3Star), Mashu(3Star), and Sasaki Kojiro(1Star). The game isn’t hard. And personally, for me, my waifu/favourite character in the game is Mashu, so I don’t need to spend a dime trying to get her because she’s the starter servant..Version: 1.9.0
Never seen something like this.Out of all tue gatcha games i have played, this one makes me feel the best. Why? Obviously because: 1- i like the anime, unfortunatelly if you dont like the anime then you will soon be living the game because it makes you work too much for an anime you consider second or third. 2- the care given to every character is priceless, i mean 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 stars and even the one that has no stars. They all have something to unravel. 3- all characters have 3 skins, when you ascend one time, you see another skin, the third time, another, the fourth, a new card picture. I was so excited to see my favorite go and look cooler and cooler and know more about him. (Even more than the anime) this happens with all rarities compared to other games that only has content for high stars. 4- customizable, even if you reach max level, if you dont like the skin you can change it back to the previous ones. There is no other game like this in the gatcha mobile games, at leas i have never seen it myself. 5- as hard as it gets, you still have the chance to make your dreams come true, if your favorite is medusa, a three star, when you max level her, you can keep going and increase her level cap, even higher to that of a five star level cap..Version: 2.9.1
Great game, also please stop complaining about the gachaI really love this game and the characters! The gameplay is also really good and strategic too and it can even favour 1 Star - 3star Servants as there are plenty of videos where people clear challenge quests with only 1-3 star Servants. This is what makes Fgo really unique compared to other gacha games as even if the servant is not a 5star, it can still work really well and even better than 5stars! So stop complaining about the gacha! There are so many good Servants that are not 4 star or 5 star and they even give out really good welfare 4 stars like Chloe and Rider Kintoki. And you can even borrow your friends 5 star Servants. If you still can’t clear story or hard even maps you can use command spells, but lets be honest, it is all up to the player skill in the end so if you are complaining that the game is too hard and you need better Servants, just get better at the game, it’s that simple. Many “hard” stages of the story can be soloed by a single servant (I Euryale who is a 3 star soloed the hardest stage of Gawain and soloed lancetoria with a friend’s Okita. So in summary, get better at the game if you can’t pass it. 1-3 star Servants can carry you a long way. Besides, the average players luck shouldn’t be so abysmal that they can’t get a 4-5 star servant after playing for a while..Version: 1.21.0
It’s a great game, but...I love this game a lot. I remember wanting to get it because it looked so cool, and when I managed to, I was proven right. It’s a wonderful game and you should keep up the good work. However, your gacha system is devastating and pretty much no one likes it. I wish you’d take it into consideration that it’s so difficult to get 5 star servants, even if there are higher drop rates. Every time I waste my saint quartz on it, all I get are 3 or 4 star servants (ALL THE TIME) and crappy craft essences. When you look at Honkai Impact 3rd, it’s easy to earn crystals and I really like the gacha system because you have a good chance of getting something you want! Whereas in FGO, it takes ages to get 1 quartz and even when you spend like a thousand of them on the gacha, you get a stupid 3/4 star servant. It makes it seem like it’s all a scam and you’re doing it for the money. Don’t get me wrong, the game is great but I put loads of effort into getting saint quartz and what do I get? I get four 3 star servants and 2 4 star. What’s up with that? All I ask is that you do something about that please. It’s not just me that’s annoyed about it, it’s like, everyone. Maybe listen to your fans? Also, why does Boudica wear basically a bikini? Why is Jack the Ripper a sexualised child with a thong? Why is Artemis so...oh, you know what. I don’t know. I just think that some of the designs for the servants are not very pleasant to look at, especially if they’re young children? Some of them are a little disrespectful too. But overall, this is a good game with great voice acting and animations. A very memorable game..Version: 1.30.0
A great way to learnI love the Fate series. I’ve used it as a way to teach my family and friends about history, religion, and culture. The game mechanics themselves are easy to understand and in the end are fun. The only real problems I have with the game is that connecting with the server takes time and a lot of rebooting of the app and even after you manage to get into the game it becomes incredibly difficult to keep it from crashing. Fix those things and add a few more characters you can posses and the game could become a massive hit. I myself would like to see characters from my own Mormon religion. Although hard to find a true source of information on the Mormon culture online you can simply go to the lds website and all the information is there. Besides that I have seen no characters from African culture or any characters from more recent history. People from world war 1 or 2 could be made into servants. While this is a game, I use it as a source for teaching and learning and even encouragement and more than anything I want to learn more about every culture I can find and the fate series is a great way to encourage me to do so. Thank you for such amazing manga, anime, and games that encourages my love for learning beyond anything else. 😊.Version: 1.9.0
REVIEW TO DEVELOPERSI’ve been playing this game for 80+ days now, and the card concept is nice, and I love the fate series, but there’s a flashing problem. This game is dull. The card mechanic is interesting and has so much room for improvement but I haven’t seen any attempt to change that. Honesty, I only log on now and roll whenever I can, occasionally play events. The only reason I play this game is because I love the fate series, but this game is literally hitching off the name and getting players because of the anime. Do you really think this game is fun where you can come up with new strategies and fight challenging dungeons? Unlike puzzle and dragons, which is the number 1 game in japan, this game pales in comparison, and makes the anime look bad. It’s not straight up terrible, I’m trying to say that this game has room for improvement, to maybe make it more fun, like maybe have a master gacha, a bigger deck with more skills and abilities and stuff, atcual fun doungens that pop up every once in a while, not these mindless farming ones, we have enough of those already. I sincerely hope the game developers take my suggestions in this review I took my time to write and not just ignore it because they “were too lazy to do anything” and I really hope the developers do care. Make this game advertise the anime, not the other way around!!! Please atcually do something about this and not just follow Japan’s game where nothing changes, otherwise, you guys are really going no where at this rate. You guys have potential, to even reach the top charts but are doing nothing to change it..Version: 1.13.0
The things you needThis game had great combat mechanics. They are really fleshed out and once you understand them - looking up guides never hurt - you are straight rollin’. You want story? Great story the entire way. You want action? You can straight up skip the story and get right to it. You changed your mind and want to see the story? The game saves all story dialogue for you to view later. The creators of fate really know what the fans want. It’s a good game. Don’t get mad at the mechanics, they are kinda weird compared to many other games, but understand it and you’ll have a good time. The gacha is kinda… well I’m not a fan so I’ll say it’s stupid… but you can hide your time and do a good free to play run of the entire thing if you only roll rarely. I just get 2 of each character class in each ultimate type, and I’m good. Of course there is the farming aspect… but it’s a game you play for years… ok, that sounds daunting. If you play it right - an hour a day sounds stable - you will be in good hands. TL/DR: a good experience, don’t need to invest money. A great M O B I L E game. Again, as a mobile game it’s fantastic, as long as you don’t compare it to AAA games, you will have a fun time.Version: 2.38.0
Steep learning curve, Riveting gameplayAround the time of this comment I just hit my 100 day log in bonus, needless to say this game has held my attention for over the span of 3 months. This game is HARD to get into. It’s not easy learning this game, tutorials are few and far between, character pull rates are absolutely atrocious and the gameplay isn’t modernized. There isn’t any auto battle or quick farm settings. So why is it that I’m still playing it? This game has the best story out of any Gacha Games that I’ve played ever. I feel actually connected to the servants and I’ve built servants just to see them grow and change styles. I love the characters and the way that the characters interact with one another. It’s like reading a visual novel on my mobile device. This game isn’t for everyone, but this game has me hooked permanently I fear. Combat feels rewarding and it blesses you for knowing more about the world and how classes interact with each other. Find your favorite character and then use them as much as you can , you’ll be rewarded for your efforts. (Also top ups in this game are cheaper than all of the other ones out right now).Version: 2.77.1
Fun, addictive, but sketchy business practicesThis game is fun. There’s no question I’ll continue to play this game for some time to come. I’m not even a fan of the fate series, but I enjoy collecting characters and drifting through the quests when I’m bored or at work. However, I almost deleted the app after discovering some very questionable business practices. I know this is par for the course concerning mobile games, but I’m still disappointed. There are occasional special events that would allow you collect 5 star (the highest) characters. Normally one would use the in game currency they’ve accrued to do so. However, the special events only accept purchased (with real money) in game currency to do so. Against my better judgement I was going to buy some. Here’s where it was over the top for me. You need 30 credits. However, you can only buy 25, 4, and 1 - or spend more for an amount over 25. All that said I will continue to play this game. It is very much a game you can succeed at and never spend a dime of real money. So why write this review? Because ... I’m just disappointed. I think the state of affairs of the gaming industry is really sad. It’s about making money first, and I hate seeing that. Don’t spend real money on this game..Version: 1.37.0
Incredibly addicting and frustrating at the same timeI’ve never written a review before but I’ve read a lot of comments on this game and felt like I needed to give my honest opinion and suggestions as well. I really enjoy this game, I haven’t had it for a full year but I can’t put it down. This game has 2 types of summons: friend summon gives you your staple for the beginning of the game with 1-3 star servants and saint quartz gives you 3-5 star servants. I’ve read a lot of comments about these summons and while it is true that you don’t need 4 or 5 star servants, it is nice to have some because some of them have really nice skills and NPs (decreasing enemy charge gauge, applying invincible to ALL of your servants on the field, increasing ALL of your servants NP gauge on the field, restoring health to ALL servants on the field, stunning all enemies, etc) and it can cost a lot of money and take a ton of summons to get even one 4 star or 5 star servant. It is also frustrating when you do a saint quartz summon and get all 3 star servants that you already have. A plus is that you can get saint quartz by completing weekly missions and logging in each day and through completing main story quests. Also the game is full of stories and side events that will give you a limited time 4 star servants just by completing the event story. You do have to wait for your AP to recover before continuing to take on a quest sometimes and that can be frustrating for someone addicted to the game as well. Bottom line is if star rating defines a character for you, and you don't have a good amount of money that you’re willing to spend, then this game probably isn’t for you, but if you’re patient and like strategy games, you’ll probably enjoy this game a lot! :).Version: 1.24.0
Stop complaining about the gacha ratesThere’s so many reviews on this game about how it’s bad because the gacha rates are terrible and it takes tons of money just to get a decent servant. First of all, 5* and 4* aren’t the only worthwhile servants in this game. Tons of the servants from the FRIEND POINT GACHA are easy to get and super good, like Hans(who’s a top tier caster despite being a 2* servant). While the 5* in the game are generally better when it comes to stats, stats aren’t everything in this game like most others. Most servants worth’s come from their skills and not their attack or HP stat. Each servant has a unique skill set and while some are better than others, it gives the low star characters a chance to shine through. If levels are bothering you so much then just use the grails that the game gives you for just going through the story. They permanently raise a servant’s level to make them even better. Also, to the guy who was getting NERO(one of the most unkillable characters in the game) killed during Okeanos while she was at max level, you’re not playing the game correctly. The story quests really don’t get all that tough until Camelot so you’re doing something wrong..Version: 1.21.0
Overall, good (but with some issues)As other people have said, the gameplay and character balancing in this game is/are done really well. Hence, I think people who accuse it of forcing players into a progression-based paywall are simply not strategizing enough to compensate for the lower stats of their servants. If you watch a few guides, and have a bit of skill, it’s quite possible to clear all the content without needing even a single four or five-star. However, while this aspect of the game’s design is commendable in isolation, I think a lot of gacha game fans are drawn to the character collection component in these games. This is where this game falls completely flat: if you want any four or five-star character and grind out the quartz try to summon for them, chances are you’ll just walk away with 4 or 5 craft essences, feeling like you wasted your time. A common practice among many popular gacha games nowadays is to give you at least one or two guaranteed high-tier characters, as a reward for summoning or playing enough (I.e. selectors in KOF Allstars, legendary shards in Raid, SP tickets in Dragon Ball legends). This game makes no such guarantees, meaning you can sink hours into it with virtually nothing to show for it. TLDR; if you play Gacha games for character collection, avoid. As it is it’s not worth your time..Version: 1.44.1
Fun Game, But……God help you if you believe ANYTHING this game says. Most of the people and settings it represents, both from history and fiction, are mischaracterized to the point that it’s effectively disinformation against humankind. And I don’t just mean the obvious fact that [insert character here] wasn’t an anime waifu in real life. Spoiler-free examples: one character who was murdered in real life cheerfully says it’s okay that it happened. Another character affects the language and characteristics not of her real-life people, but their conquerers. Characters who were horrible in real life are made fun and cute. Ones who were ordinary people in real life are made into complete monsters. And if your only exposure to them comes from Fate/GO, your view of history will be fatally warped. So while I used to say the best way to enjoy Fate is to turn off your brain, I now say the best way is to have Encyclopedia Britannia open and fact check everything Fate/GO says. Somewhat ironically, doing that will expose you to a good variety of world history and literature, making Fate/GO an unironically good tool for learning if you use it wisely. 4/5: good game, bad civilization.Version: 2.73.0
Great gameI have always had a problem where I would get hooked to a single game for a couple weeks, then eventually get bored and go to another game, this game is different, FGO has an amazing narrative story, the gameplay is flawless, I haven't run into a single bug since I first installed. The difficulty does curve and certain points in the game (when you play, you will find out what I'm talking about). Also, you don’t need five or even four stars in your party to beat the game, I beat the entire game with a 1 star Berserker, Paul Bunyan, in my party. Sure, it may be nice to try and get your saberface waifu 5 star but the fact that every character is completely unique makes it that much more fun. No two servants are exactly alike, that can be HP, ATK, skills or tons of other factors. I also forgot to mention their most powerful moves, their Noble Phantasms, each are completely unique to the character and are beautifully animated. So, if you want a fun, story driven game where you can have Billy the Kid, The Roman empress Nero Claudius and a robot dragon girl fight skeletons and dragons, I would say pop in and give this game a try, you wont regret it..Version: 1.36.1
An updated reviewI’ve been playing this game since launch, and I have to say that I’ve had a lot of fun with it. The story is fun, the characters interesting and cool looking, and frequent events/new chapter releases keep things fresh. If you get into the game now, there will be plenty for you to do, be you a whale or Free to Play. There are many viable characters of every star ranking, and all of them can be leveled to 100 with time and effort. A few events give out free servants which are generally pretty powerful, or at least mid-tier. Of course, as with every gacha game there are issues. Some of the most powerful servants are 5 star event-limited, meaning you can only get them in special banners and they have less than a 1% chance of dropping from the gacha. Needless to say, this is a problem. While you can get a decent amount of saint quarts (the paid currency) from the story, free quests, weekly missions, and events, it is a slow process. With each summon costing 3 saint quarts (or 1 summon ticket) you will find yourself running out of them quickly. If you decide to buy saint quarts, I will warn you that it is extremely expensive, just one will cost you a dollar, although as with most games the more you buy the more bang you get for your buck. Also, some of the free servants you get from events, including one of the most powerful ones, are now unobtainable (although you can still use the character of a friend has them), as both their initial event and the event rerun have already passed (perhaps they will rerun the event again in the future, but this is uncertain). Overall, Fate Grand Order is a good game with a decent story that you can have a good time with, but getting 5 star characters is harder than in most other gacha games and new players will miss out on some content..Version: 1.32.0
Immersive StoryWhile not your typical Gacha game since the Stars don’t determine Servants values (which is super nice) the best thing about this game is the story and animation efforts into the battles. It’s very well done. It’s visual novel format is one of my favorites as the players decide what dialogue to choose from (it doesn’t matter which until later where you won’t be able to skip). You can choose between Gudako (Girl) or Gudao (Guy) but no matter what, your servants have an attraction to you- ESPECIALLY THE FEMALE CHARACTERS. It’s great. As a female player myself, this sets apart other games I’ve played since I can play as a girl but flirt with the other female characters too without having to be a male character. It’s GREAT. Like any Gacha game though, obviously it’s a gamble to get your waifu/husbando, so hf with that. Gaining SQ takes time and effort and a whole lot of patience for a f2p. Which is fine! I’m having a lot of fun and it determines me to be ready for whatever comes when pulling and hope the RNG God bless you or else we’ll just have salty tears- on the bright side, if you roll 10, you’re guaranteed a 4 star, so it’s really not that bad..Version: 1.43.0
Great but needs some fixes.I really love this game, especially as a huge fan of the fate series and all the spin-offs I was super excited when I found this. I love seeing all the characters I’ve come to know in the anime series and visual novels, and the art, music and card style battle system all work together very nicely and has gotten me addicted. The one fault that really drives me absolutely nuts is if I don’t log in at the EXACT right time every day I don’t get my log in bonus. So while I’ve opened the game literally every day since I’ve downloaded it, I’ve only managed to get up to a 4 day streak because of the strict log in time in order to get the log in streak. This is really disheartening because it’s really one of the only way for the lower level new players to get a head start into summoning new heroes and getting materials. I very rarely leave reviews but since I love this game so much I’d really love to see this fixed. Please fix this devs! I’d hate to grow bored simply because there is no way for me to get ahead or incentive to even open the game every day when there is no bonus in it for me to do so even if I am having fun when I do play..Version: 1.11.0
Fate, what else?As expected, the Fate crew take the player in an adventure with the most famous characters in human history. The stronger people (5 star servants) take some patience and time to get, as this is a gacha game. Prepare to test your luck, because this game will treat some generously while others get nothing. A simple trip to your nearest statistics book would confirm that the cure to “bad luck” is to just keep trying. Keep in mind that as a gambling system is in place, you always face addiction and its consequences. However, if you are present for the events, you’ll find that the game is actually quite rewarding. Events are the most fun yet easy way to earn the game’s rare materials. If you play this game only once a week, on the other hand, you’ll have a terrible, unrewarding experience. A lot of actions (leveling up, evolving, beating events) require grinding. If patience isn’t your strong point, you probably wouldn’t find enjoyment in this title. Also, as others have noted, the player can still progress through the challenges with weaker characters, just expect a more strategic approach..Version: 1.9.0
A visual novel with gameplay elements attachedFirst off, let me be clear by saying that I had a love-hate relationship with this game for years; love the units and lore, hate the awful gacha system. Recently I took a break from Fgo for about a year, and came back because I’m an absolute Oberon simp. At this point, I realized that I wouldn’t get to appreciate Oberon’s third ascension and story as much without completing his Lostbelt, and so I begrudgingly finished Gotterdammerung. It was at that time that I realized that, honestly speaking, looking at this game as a gacha with a story was wrong; doing so spoiled my perception of the game and made me focus entirely on my poor rolls (which is made worse when you realize how few quartz you’re given by the game, so each poor pull stings more). Instead, I’ve started to look at FGO as a visual novel that had a tacked-on battle system and interactable servants. Suddenly, my enjoyment of the game shifted as I looked forward to the next chapter instead of the next pull, and my general relationship with the game has improved. TLDR; don’t expect a great gacha, expect a visual novel with a novel battle system..Version: 2.49.1
Lovely hideous game.I absolutely love FGO; I’ve played tons of gochas, but Fate is the one that stays closest to my heart. However, there’s something keeping it from being five stars... the aspect ratio. On almost every device at this point, Fate has black bars. (Technically speaking they’re a fancy blue design, but may as well be black for all I care.) Nearly every other one of those mobile games that I’ve tried has made an effort in the slightest to make the game fit the entire screen. FGO’s solution, blue/black bars and call it a day. At this point it should be accepted that 18+ :9 phones are the future, and as mentioned many other developers have been making their apps compatible with ultra wide screens. I do fully understand that the iPhone XS and Max just dropped, so an advancement like this will take time, but as far as it seems, this is where Fate is going to stay. I have been completely turned off from seeing this game on my phone, so much so that I keep both the Global and Japanese versions on my iPad, yes I’m that dedicated to this game that I play it on both versions, and that is a major reason I’m upset. I want to be able to enjoy this game on the go, but the portability of a iPad isn’t that great. I at least hope there’s a quick fix that stretches the game to the bottom of the iPhone’s screen, because yes, there’s a blue bar down there as well. A friend of my recently got the Note 9 and it stretches to fit the top and bottom of that phone’s screen. I fine if this black bars on the sides, so long as it fits vertically, but I’d still love to see the game at some point reach a better aspect ratio because right now 16:9 is slowly becoming obsolete. I don’t believe there will ever be a day when 16:9 is technologically extinct, but I think it should be know that 18+:9 is completely comfortable in the mobile phone market..Version: 1.21.0
It gets a lot right, but a few key things wrongWhile FGO has an extremely balanced meta that allows you to make a viable team around any character on the roster - even the 1 and 2 star characters can be powerhouses. So after playing for a few months, you WILL have everything you need to handle anything that the game can throw at you. Welfare characters are extremely powerful for free gacha game characters. And the story and gameplay are very engaging. Unfortunately the terrible gacha rates (1% for a 5 star servant), awful implementation of replaying past events (not all events are eligible and you need to pull and sell 4 and 5 star characters to get the items to unlock them), and the worst pity system I’ve ever seen (you have to pull 10 extra copies of 5 star characters you’ve already pulled 5 copies of to choose a 5 star of your choice) make FGO far from perfect. Long story short is that the game has a (blessedly) few VERY bad points that are mostly balanced by the otherwise very well crafted game. If the devs fix the problems with the event and pity systems, I would give this game 5 stars..Version: 2.14.1
EnjoyableI've been playing the English release since it came out, and as a rather large fan of the Nasuverse, I was very excited. I'm quite happy with the game design, though, as many other have mentioned, the gacha rates are a little imbalanced to say the least, and it's very fun to play, though once you finish what parts have been released in English so far, you come to a standstill. The Saint Quartz become rather tedious to get, there isn't nearly as many exciting things happening (but I suppose that's to be expected since you've pretty much finished all that's been released in the given time period), and once you max out your characters, there isn't much of a motivation to keep playing. Of course, now that the next Singularity is going to be released in English relatively soon, hopefully that will no longer be a concern and won't be for too long. And, this isn't completely related, but the recent update the game informs me I should be able to install has yet to show up in the AppStore for me - I'm aware it says that this may happen, but I've been waiting for a bit longer than I expected so I'm becoming slightly concerned. (And unfortunately Achilles seems to have yet to make an appearance, but that's just me and my favoritism I suppose.) The game itself has pretty much all I would expect of an RPG, and a bit more, so I definitely recommend it - but only if you're patient enough with the gacha to not get rather irritated by its stinginess..Version: 1.4.0
Please ReadThe game is fair. A lot of people are complaining that they don't get 5* because the rates are low, which is true to an extent. The game is designed that even 3*s even 1*s can be used to beat the game's content, it just takes a little more effort. They have said to max a 5* you need 4 copies of the same 5*, but that isn't even necessary. Having extra copies just increases their dmg of their ultimate atk by just a bit. It does not hinder you in any way for not having copies like being unable to evolve it. The rare materials needed for evolution is often given out during events to make the events worth grinding. The rates of rare materials dropping outside of events is to make the RARE materials...RARE. The rates are bad but that is what saving up your quartz are for. If you expect to get multiple 5* right off the bat then this game is definitely not for you. If you play the game expecting to get exactly what you want from the gacha you should prepare yourself to be disappointed. You should play to have fun..Version: 1.8.0
Fun Game, Can play for freeDisclaimer: I have spent 40 bucks on this game. There was an event a few weeks ago that gave you a guaranteed five star servant that I gave in to. So take this as you will. Gameplay is fun, I like taking 30 minutes or so before and after work to grind out whatever event is going on (which there always is except this one period in September), and you can clear the content just fine with the 1-3 star servants and like a Hercules, especially with other high level supports. Wouldn't recommend gambling on every banner, but saving and planning ahead until a cool servant you want comes out (we know the entire future because this game is further ahead in Japan). You still might not get it ( I didn't, tho I got a couple other five stars randomly), but like I said before, what really matters in clearing the game is just Team composition, and at this point in the game you can outlevel the content easy anyways. I would definitely give it a shot..Version: 1.8.0
Great story telling in a mediocre gameWhen I first began to play FGO I did not get the appeal of the game at first. The story was mediocre (until Camelot), the mechanics were basic, and the dialogues were long and mundane. I was about to give up on the game, but pushed through up to Camelot. My GOD, Camelot was the best moment in FGO. The story had some few flaws, but overall it was one of the best story-telling in all the gacha games I have played. I understood finally that fans don’t play this visual novel for the gameplay, but the characters. After Camelot, however, it went back to being mediocre. Stopped halfway of Babylonia because it got boring. The gacha rates are horrendous and the “Screw You” mentality to new players is heinous. FGO lives not because of its gameplay, but because of the IP and characters. If this game did not have the FGO face slapped on the cover, it would have died 6 years ago. Overall, FGO is an enjoyable visual novel with outdated mechanics and leveling/ascension system. I say give it a try up to Camelot. If the story didn’t impress you find some other game..Version: 2.43.0
Love the gameI love this game. From the battle system, to the gacha, to the servants you can obtain. While 5* servants are extremely hard to get you can get lucky sometimes. My only real complaint with the game is that all of the events that were really good have passed. For instance,I missed the Fate/Accel/Fate/Zero event, and it is an event I would really like to get the servants I missed, All of them and the irisviel dress of heaven servant. I can guarantee you that you will be gaining plenty of profits if you choose to bring back the WHOLE event, not just the gacha the main missions too. The gacha had many great servants to get too so you will get profit in return I’m positive. And since everyone liked Fate/Zero they will be instrested to try the gacha. Some will try more than others, give up and then pay for it. Please bring back this event and bring it back with the time length it originally had. Thank you. Please do this as soon as possible. And please localize is for the English version..Version: 1.6.0
Unique but HarshThis is not as bad as people may assume. Fgo plays out more like a single player jrpg with the best cast of playable characters for f2ps and whales. The weakest point of the game is indeed the gatcha but if you save intensely and level your low stars the game rewards you greatly. Each low star(outside of rare exceptions) is greatly useful and can carry low-high level teams in addition to low cost. Four-five star characters are worth their weight, and can tremendously change the power of an account. Despite being out for years, the game does not powercreep high rarity servants that badly and upgrades such servants with often great skills. The story is worth the grind because after the 4th section, the game picks up in difficulty and quality. Fate/go is harder than other mobile games but has great content and characters that manage to make up for some shortcomings. Fate/go lacks much account safety, has a lack of replayable boss fights, story locked servants, and limited servants that do not have a consistent banner. And due to its nature, some event servants that can boost an account’s power are gone(Rider Kintoki, Shiki, Jeanne Alter Lily, Santa Alter, and Ishtar Rider). Sadly, compared to other games there should be a way to enable new players to catch up on previous events to claim copies of useful 4 star servants. Overall the game is good, but needs to improve on post story content outside of farming and events..Version: 2.8.0
The ideal game to grindWhen you first start this game you are automatically given the Mash and Cu (Caster) servants to start with. They are decent enough but are just a stepping stone to help you complete the Fuyuki City singularity. In addition to the Holy Grail you get (just one of 10 in the whole game, usually for completing a singularity) after that quest, you get to choose one of several 4 star servants to further help you in the next 7 singularities/campaigns. Getting a 5 star is difficult but not necessary, as 2 Holy Grails can essentially turn a 4 star into a 5 star. Leveling up servants is part of the fun, as is trying out different combinations of servants in your party. The more you level up, the more options you will have, and the more quests/daily activities you can complete for rewards. The events are where FGO is at its most time-consuming, but it’s worth it to get all the essentials you need to help max out your servants. There is no real end game, because it will take months before you can max out a single servant - and that’s just one class. My goal is to get at least one 4/5 star for all 7 classes to stay competitive for the more extreme enemies. It’s free to play but prepare your wallet if you are in this for the long haul, because if you don’t, you will be stuck for a long time and will eventually drop the game out of boredom..Version: 1.6.0
Fate grand orderI love the fate franchise it’s my all time favorite when I first saw this game I misjudged it but once I started playing I became addicted to it and have done so well that being said this game has potential there are many issues one is the materials it seems like instead of actually giving the materials you need to ascend your servants they just give you materials that you really don’t actually need. This needs to be fixed I thought I would bring this issue because I have servants that I can’t ascend because I either don’t have enough of the materials or because I don’t have any of the materials please please fix this the second issue is more of an idea instead of having a limited amount of quarts how about making it unlimited quarts that way we can roll for servants as much as we want and no matter how many times our servants die we can just bring them back without having to worry about running out of quarts.Version: 2.28.1
Not too badThis is game is getting better slowly since their producer is becoming better and smarter. NA serve will get servants model renew slowly and is getting great. The most important part is now NA serve is becoming the slowest serve in all 5 serves. This problem makes game boring as fk while we finished one event or a new story comes out..Version: 1.33.0
The best way to mass-produce saltGive up on the gacha. That’s all. Whatever pitiful scraps RNGesus will give you, hold them close to your heart. However, once you’ve done that, the plot line will soothe all your worries away. Drown yourself in the fantastic storytelling, and instead start searching for lewds of your waifus/husbandos online. The game itself more than worth playing, as long as you don’t have high hopes for the gacha rate. Please give it a go. It’s the ride of a goddamn lifetime :)).Version: 1.44.1

Swimsuit Okita’s skill doesn’t workShe has a skill that causes a défense debuff but it says it’s treated as a buff which is supposedly removable with her other skill, which has a side effect of removing defense « buffs » in this case, but when you activate them it doesn’t work, please look into this and fix it by either removing the debuffs altogether from her skills or by fixing whatever bug is causing this issue. Otherwise game is fine if not reaaaally Grindy and some dialogue sections poorly paced out. Also prices for saint quartz are stupid but I don’t buy any more.Version: 2.39.1
As a F2P this game offers SO MUCHDespite its flaws, the characters are precious and memorable, the story is gripping and I like how the battle system adds more complexity later in the game. I love history too so learning about lesser known figures only widens my curiosity. Even my family is shocked when I know something so niche lol Haters will just hate because it’s not “modern gaming” but there’s a reason why this game has lasted 10 years and why the fan base is strong and passionate..Version: 2.83.1

Massive ImprovementI haven’t been playing for very long, so i can’t personally speak of the games improvement, but i’ve seen tons of comments from people who have played for a long time and never got a 5 star servant or found the games core content and gameplay mundane, and i can say confidently that these have been fixed. a free 5 star servant is given at the start of the game and considering all the summoning events, if you save up your saints quartz and just play the game casually, you could easily get 3 servants of your choice annually guaranteed. keep in mind that this is just for pity pulls (if you try so many times and still don’t get the featured servant), there’s still a very real chance you get the servant long before that, all mine were pulled before that. i’ve only been playing on and off for about two years, mostly trying to catch events like christmas and easter (and a while of not playing at all) and i have eight 5 star servants, three of which being my favourite characters. paying is certainly a faster and easier way to gain servants, but not to such a degree that people who pay have it much better, in fact i’d say the game is easily more enjoyable if you play it free to play, and that you won’t feel you’re missing out too much. gameplay wise it’s a typical gacha game, but the later stories, events, and chaldea gate (side) quests are all very enjoyable, unique, and interesting! In short this game has seen massive improvements and major flaws i’ve heard about in comments and reviews seem to have been worked on and improved! If you’re at all interested in gacha games and that type of turn based strategical gameplay, i definetly recommend it it!!.Version: 2.72.0

Best Story for a Mobile GameSay what you will about the gacha rates, the actual gameplay, designs, UI, and most importantly story are second to none in today’s mobile game market. I have been playing for a little over two years and its managed to keep me invested consistently over my time playing. IMO the campaign is its shooting star as the story legit has given me chills at point (ie end of Solomon). I urge you to give it a try!.Version: 2.49.0
