Triathlon Tracker App Comments & Reviews

Triathlon Tracker Positive Reviews

Pretty good appI downloaded this since I already have an Apple Watch and didn’t want to spend the money for a Garmin or other triathlon geared watch. GPS map looked like it went a little haywire at the beginning of my run, but overall it was pretty accurate compared to running with my phone using Strava. Like having all the event options as well as being able to customize my events. Just a couple of things that I issue with. Firstly, the pace is set in miles per hour instead of minutes per mile. It would be nice to have the option for min/mi. Secondly, when I went to share my map to Strava it didn’t upload. Just the title I gave the run uploaded. I was able to upload the map to Facebook though. Overall, a good option without having to buy another expensive watch..Version: 1.7

Not bad-does the basicsI ran a sprint Tri today and figured the short event was the perfect place to test the app. It functioned fine during the race (no trouble with buttons or the app changing from one event to the next). My activities where appropriately logged in my Apple Activity App but in the TriTracker app, all of my time is in the “transitions” and no distance is showing up in the events (which is odd considering it logged them accurately in the activity app). The other thing I noticed was that my swim wasn’t mapped (something I normally get out of the open water swim function in the activity app)... certainly doesn’t replace a Garmin but for those who want to own a single watch and like Apple’s activity app, it’s not a bad option. I’m sure the few small glitches will be worked out. For now it does enough to be a functional option for those wanting immediate feedback after a race and to log their race activity with their training..Version: 1.3.1

Worked great for Olympic Tri!I used this app for the Southbeach Miami open water Olympic distance triathlon on April 15th, with my Apple Watch 3 with LTE. It worked great! The double button press to transition between tri legs was simple and worked as intended. Tri Tracker did a good job tracking all legs of the triathlon with GPS, even the open water swim. I had no Apple Watch battery issues using the app for the duration (3+ hours) - it kept plenty of charge even with LTE enabled the whole time, and several texts coming in along the way. As far as the user interface goes, the basics worked, but a few display tweaks would perfect it. It was a bit of an issue that there’s no way to view stats on the watch itself for a completed activity without having an iPhone handy. Also the run stats were a bit hard to read during the run itself, so it would be good if text size and location on the watchface display could somehow be configurable in future releases. Overall, though, very happy with this app! Much better than using the built in Apple Watch capabilities for a tri. Hoping the developers keep working on this because this is exactly the functionality I’ve been waiting for and I expect there’ll be big demand from the tri community..Version: 1.2.1

Works well with Fitness appThe app works great for ease of use during a race and to be able to keep an eye on your pace/distance/etc... while racing. The results are way basic within the app. I read a review that was annoyed that the results are in MPH in the app. It’s April 2021 and that still hasn’t changed so it’s still somewhat oblique info. However, the results do pull into the Fitness app where the stats are more easy to understand. There still isn’t tons of information like elevation vs pace or anything. Final verdict: great for a pace clock during your race, the after-race analysis stats leave a little to be desired..Version: 1.7.2

Did the job, still some bugsJust got done using this app for the first time in a race, I did a sprint tri. I had issues with it freezing up while testing it out for a swim/run training, and I actually had to restart my watch to get it to open again. This morning before the race, it again seemed frozen and would not open. I had to restart my watch, and then it opened and it worked! I think it was freezing when I would get a text and it didn’t know what to do. I do not have cellular on my watch and I was not close enough to my phone during the whole race to pick up texts, so I think that is why it managed to not freeze during the race. Hopefully some of the bugs can be worked out, because I loved FINALLY having an Apple Watch tri app and I hope to continue using it!.Version: 1.6.1

Don’t Buy That Garmin!Unwilling to buy a new Garmin Forerunner 935, I turned to this app for tracking my triathlons. In short, purchasing this application was the best money I’ve spent on the App Store to date. I used Tri Tracker for the second time yesterday during my Olympic distance triathlon. I think the display is perfectly fine, but I don’t look at my watch too often during a race. Data automatically uploaded directly to Apple Health, and I use RunGap to transfer all three disciplines to Strava. All the distances and transitions were accurate. In summary, this is the app triathletes have been asking for since the advent of the Apple Watch..Version: 1.3.3

It’s works butIt’s works and I like the ease of transitioning from one discipline to the next. But on the open water swim it records the time but not the distance. I’ve used the app for several races and it seams to record the. Distance from where I entered the water and then exited. Only a few yards or so. Not sure why. Also I did a 70.3 and the battery died about 5 hours in. Not sure if that’s just bc it’s tracking gps and hr etc..Version: 1.7

Crashed when switching from T1 to BikeThought I’d give it a shot... even though there were some complaints in the reviews. Developers comments made me think things were being addressed. Did a few “fake” races so I was comfortable with hitting both buttons to move each step forward. .... but on race day the app crashed switching from T1 to the bike. Managed to restart a brick workout about 3 miles into the bike course... and that all worked fine. This is an app that needs to work. I love my Apple Watch and want to use it to track EVERYTHING! So I’m hopeful the $$ I spent helps with what I’m sure are high cost of development. Good things can’t be free... so please keep working and good luck. I hope more people invest a few bucks for this app in place of opting for another watch that you’ll only use on race-day. I’ll update with more stars when it’s working flawlessly..Version: 1.3.1

Works well but pace on the run isn’t displayingI’ve used this app for two half ironmans this year and it works great for the most part. The main problem I’ve experienced in both races is the pace doesn’t display/work during the run. I’m using the 3-segment (swim/bike/run), open water, and the lock+prepare options to start it. It transitions through each segment great with the two button push but when I get to the run the pace is just empty. The heart rate and time work as expected. All the data is there after the race (it uploads to my trainingpeaks account with no issue). But it just isn’t displaying during the race. Which obviously makes pacing difficult..Version: 1.6.1

Still buggy.Easy transition, keeps track of changes well. Could go out another decimal place for tracking swimming. In swimming .45 miles is a big difference from .4. The biggest problem is that is crashes out 2/3 times. It’s not very reliable for tracking workouts. That said, it’s the best interface I’ve seen for switching between exercise types on the go. Keeps me from having to open multiple apps..Version: 1.3.3

Does it’s jobYou should be able to customize the data displayed during a discipline. For example, on runs would really like to have my SPM viewable like the stock apple workout app allows.Version: 1.7.3

First sprint triI used this app today for my first sprint tri and overall it was a good experience. The two button press works great with sweaty or wet hands and the layout is easy to get accustomed to. However, it would be awesome to see your average pace on both he bike and run, in addition when I ended the race the app didn’t have my gps route captures. The maps simply displayed “no location data available. Apple Watch series 2 OS 4.3.1 iPhone 8 OS 11.4.1.Version: 1.3.3

Developer Obviously ComittedSome of the earlier posts worried me a bit but it is obvious that the developer takes this app seriously and is continuously improving it. You can look at the version history and see so. Just used it and it worked great..Version: 1.5.2

Best Apple Watch App!It’s simple, slick, and gets the job done. I did a super sprint triathlon on my own to test it out and work on my transition times. It worked like a charm. Easy to use and see my splits afterwards. During each activity I can see my pace and distance..Version: 1.0

Total timeI noticed after my first use during an international Tri that the total time didn’t add up. I did the race in 1:54 and it gave me a total time of 43min. Otherwise like the app..Version: 1.4.1

Worked perfectlyI recently used the app for a sprint Tri in MN. It worked without a hitch. Kept working even in the background when I got a txt. Glad I bought it..Version: 1.3.3

Great transition app... GPS needs workOverall this is App is great but the run distances have been off a good amount, ran a USAT run route and at the 5k finish the distance was off .4mi when compared to my running partners..Version: 1.7

Easy to use! This is the perfect App to track a Sprint or Olympic Distance Triathlon. It is very easy to use and I love how I can see my splits for each part of the race..Version: 1.0

Needs improvement but works......I did two sprint tris (7/20/19 and 7/28/19) before writing a review. The swim on both tris was open water ocean and the prepare and lock feature worked perfect. The tricky part is when you’re running with your bike with one hand and trying to press two buttons with your other hand. It doesn’t work well at race pace and you can’t really stop to make sure it advanced. So both tris I had like 40 min transition times and 2 min bike times because it didn’t advance when pressed. I practiced with it before the actually race and it worked great, but during a race it’s a little different. So I would recommend two things, maybe a double push on the scroll button alone, a full green screen to let you know it advanced, or something else other than the press the two separate buttons at the same time. One other suggestion is add up the total time of the the entire event. I spent like 5 min adding up all my times at the end. Hopefully the app keeps progressing because I like the features it has. It’s just not real user friendly with the pushing the buttons together..Version: 1.6.1

Update: works, occasionally freezesThis app is great when it works, but occasionally it will freeze on the Swim leg.Version: 1.3.3

Duathlon ?I purchased the app but I only have the option the select duathlon not triathlon? Can you assist?.Version: 1.3.3

Good app - Needs Strava syncingApp works great for tracking multi discipline events. No real complaints other than some stability, but I’m using it on a series 2 Apple watch. Biggest downside is the lack of Stava syncing. Yes, the event sync with the Apple Health app, but I can’t get it from there to Strava. There also appears to be no way to export the event data to manually upload to Strava. In a world where everything syncs to Strava, it just feels like this app is behind the times. Still overall a good app, just would love for this feature to be added..Version: 1.7.3
