Hallow: Prayer & Meditation Positive Reviews
Love this app!!This app is awesome if you wanna have a better relationship with God and/or Jesus!! My dad had paid for the family plan and I had never started using it until this week actually. I wanted to improve my relationship with God, because I was scared of demonic possession and stuff involving that. I was questioning God’s protection over me and that got me really worrying. I realized that God will always protect me from evil things. So, I have been listening to a little podcast on this app, narrated by Jonathan roumie who played Jesus in The Chosen TV show. I have started with the beginning sessions and I really like them so far, and plan to keep listening to them every single day. I want you all to know that God is there for all of you! A lot of people tell me they need to see things to believe them, but that’s not true for God. Just because you can’t see him doesn’t mean he isn’t there. Same with Jesus . You can’t see him but he’s there just like God is. It’s called faith, and you should have it for God and Jesus. There is this poem about a guy who is walking on a beach and going through a hard time. He feels as if God isn’t there with him, but he quickly sees that’s not true. All of a sudden there is another set of footprints and it’s God carrying him. That’s just an awesome story to show you that God is there for everyone. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. Download this app if you need God and Jesus!.Version: 12.10.1
Always had trouble prayingAs a Catholic, prayer is important, but I never really made the time for it. I’m a 26 year old, with a wife and child, job in finance, loves sports (specifically dc sports teams), and am currently half way through earning an MBA. So, I rarely have time on my hands. When I do have free time, I’ll consume it with reading about finance related things, spending time with family, or spending time playing video games. Prayer has always been difficult. I couldn’t really get into the habit of praying daily, or being in silence. I’m always active, so prayer doesn’t come naturally. I’ve tried praying morning prayer using the psalter but find myself bored and lacking the passion to do it sometimes - spiritually dry. Hallow, has changed that. The first couple of sessions were difficult to stay in silence but it helped me to have a peaceful day each time. I always find that when I use hallow, my day becomes more peaceful. It helps me to enjoy my daily successes, knowing they are from god, and understanding and accepting my defeats, which in some way, God allowed. Instead of becoming a justice maker at work, at home, when I’m playing sports, etc. hallow has helped m to accept my failures/injustices from other alittle better through daily prayer. I would encourage any catholic who is serious about finding inner peace and a growing relationship with God to try this app. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone! Also - the app has a very modern feel and isn’t as quirky as other prayer apps I’ve used!.Version: 4.1.5
30,152 minutesA less significant feature of the Hallow app is that your profile will tell you how much time you’ve spent using it. After a 3-month trial and one year of subscription, I have used Hallow for 30,152 minutes. That’s 502.5 hours, somewhwere just north of an hour a day. Much of that time I spent completing Catechism in a Year and Bible in a Year with Father Mike Schmitz, but I have also learned to pray the rosary, learned about saints and other people who struggle just like me with living a life of faith, listened to daily mass readings, and learned anout the gospel through exegesis. At the annual sunscription rate, this has cost me under 14 cents per hour. That’s the accounting side of it. What I can’t quantify is how much this has helped my spiritual formation. I signed up for a trial because I was in RCIA and found myself wanting more. This app, like many other blessings we receive, was much more than I asked. Little chunks of time here and there - 10 minutes in the car between my daughter’s school and my office, 20 minutes on the drive home, 30 minutes before bed with the Bible or the Catechism - it adds up to 30,152 minutes of time, but so much more - ears that can hear, eyes that can see, and a heart that can feel the Holy Spirit. Hallow has helped me along my journey home, and that is a pearl beyond price..Version: 11.7.1
Mommy Finally Gets Quiet Time! Before Hallow, my spiritual life was unorganized and reactive. I'd attempt to have quiet time with the Lord, but would be interrupted by my children or my own thoughts. 30 minutes would go by and I'd feel so defeated that I couldn't even make it through one prayer without becoming distracted. My husband gifted me a subscription 2 years ago and it's now a recurring Christmas gift from him (I can't imagine anything better). Now, my thoughts and prayers are cohesive because the guidance from the app keeps me on track. I've learned so many new prayers that I never knew before, and I can "whip them out" in the middle of whatever chaos might be going on in our day. If my toddler comes in the room during my quiet time, he doesn't have to leave. He understands quiet time now and loves to listen and pray with me. He even requests Hallow in the mornings now! The "Kids" feature has been such a blessing. If you're a busy mom or a busy anybody, Hallow is an amazing app you won't regret. I've recommended it to everyone I meet who mentions a struggle with their prayer life. It has truly helped change my life for the better. Thank you, Hallow!.Version: 7.0.0
Love it! Would be better with some improvements…Hallow is great for anyone who wants to dive deeper in their Catholic prayer life, especially once you get past the paywall. You learn and listen to all sorts of prayers and Scriptural analyses. However, there could be a few things that would make it better. One is the ability to share the Hallow subscription with others, like having each person have a different account like Netflix or sharing the subscription through the Apple Family subscription feature. It’s much more convenient for me and my family instead of paying for individual subscriptions for multiple people. Another thing that would make the app great is having more Liturgy of the Hours things, at least outlined clearly. The Compline is something I pray every night, and I want to get more into “the prayer of the Church” by having the morning, afternoon, and evening prayers on the app. A final thing that would make this app better is to have curated playlists of Christian rock and metal music. While pop and praise and worship are popular, some folks, such as myself, can find it almost boring, and find it impossible to find rock and metal music that praise the Lord. I know of exists, but it would be so much better if it was curated on something like Hallow. Again, I adore this app, I just have some improvement ideas for it..Version: 12.13.2
Great way to incorporate prayer into your lifeI’ve had this app for a few days and I really enjoy it so far. It’s helped make it easier to bring prayer into my daily life (especially the rosary which is guided in an excellent way on this app) I’ve also really enjoyed all the different litanies available. The two options for narration, a male or female voice are nice and help bring you into a more prayerful calm, if you are a fan of ASMR videos these voice are soft spoken and you will really enjoy the app but if you aren’t a fan of ASMR or soft spoken words the narration is very clear with none of the “mouth sounds” usually associated with soft spoken (thankfully) There are so many prayers the choose from among stories and prayers you can just listen to. The only CON of this app is that there is no way for you to read the prayer as it’s spoken so you can pray along if you don’t know the prayer already. It’s a bummer for sure and for anyone who like me is new to the Catholic faith or prayer. Participating along is important to me instead of just listening so having to also get my prayer books or googling the prayer is not ideal when I think perhaps just adding the prayers for those who need them would be nice. I was hoping that I’d be able to download the prayer on the app WITH the written prayer so I could use the app when my data or prayer books are not available. I hope this is something they will add in the future as I sure I’m not the only person who’d greatly appreciate it. But thanks for developing a pretty near perfect app! Much appreciated!.Version: 5.4.1
Nice App!My husband and I had both been looking for something to help our evenings wind down better with God. The daily readings are amazing. This app has a lot to it (reflection space, mood tracker, prayers for moods, daily gospel, rosary based on daily mysteries, bed time gospel stories, a kids zone that does stories and prayer how to based on age, music center, chants, prayer session challenges and more.) I started to use it to help me get my rosary in the mornings like I have been wanting to do. You can set routines into your phone to help carve time out of your day for God as well. My only recommendation to the developers is to add the transcript in on the sessions. This would be helpful for 3 reasons. 1) New Catholic’s learning prayers and how things work no matter the age 2) To help when the mind is overly active to give something else to focus and help ease into the meditative process 3) Meditation can be great for relaxing or stimulating to wake up. With how things are currently set up, there is a lot of focus of relaxing versus stimulating to the day. Words on the screen can help be part of that stimulation. Keep up the great app! Can’t wait to see what all you add!.Version: 6.1.2
I prayedI haven’t opened the app yet. Recently I’ve been going through a tough time with the relationship I’m in. I’m 18 years old and I was raised Christian. Religion is something I’ve struggled with through out my short time here on earth but I’ve always known god was real. Recently my partner and I have hit a road block in our relationship and it’s my fault, my doing. I decided to pray, I prayed for forgiveness and I even prayed for that today but I also asked him, if it’s his will forgive me, if it’s his will allow me to have a second chance, you promised me love from the moment I was born. I promise you this, regardless of the outcome, I will be closer to you, I will choose you, I will love myself as you chose to love me. Then I started watching the videos of Cliffe Knechtle, I found them inspiring. Then I prayed again, and said thank you lord. Then I saw the ad for this app with the man who plays Jesus in the The Chosen, and instead of skipping the ad, I listened and what hit me the most was a part where he said, “Come on, let’s come close to God.” And I chose to download this app because I made a promise..Version: 10.2.0
Cancel One of Your Streaming Subscriptions and Get This Instead!I am closer to god than I ever have been because of Hallow. This app is well worth the subscription. I have used it for months with and without paying and notice a significant difference in my time in prayer and the quality of my prayers. The challenges they do scratch my itch for learning while also pushing me and challenging me to be the best version of myself. They are INCREDIBLY well done. Taught by experts in the church and notable figures. This app is genuinely vital in my journey with God. I use the rosary, the daily readings, and whatever challenge is on every day. When I have time I’m doing the “bible in a year” and the “daily saints” lessons. This is only scratching the surface of what can be done with the app. The reflections after each lesson, doing intentions and creating your own Novenas to share with the community is wonderful as well. So well thought out and intuitive. It’s worth cancelling one of your streaming subscriptions to budget the ~ $50-something annually this app is. It’s a high production program, not a plunked together app..Version: 12.6.0
Wonderful app! With one complaint/suggestionThis app has transformed my prayer life! I was hesitant to pay the $$ at first, but after giving it a try through a free trial, I have found it well worth it! There are so many different prayer and meditation options for many circumstances. At times I find it overwhelming with the many options, but I love that there are so many and that they are continually being uploaded and updated. My only minor complaint and suggestion is a technical one. When browsing through the many lists, if you hit “back” it will take you all the way back to the home screen instead of the previous page you were on. This can be frustrating as the many lists are like navigating a labyrinth at times, and if I was simply trying to browse the various novenas, for example, I have to go all the way back to the beginning each time I hit “back” and navigate the labyrinth again. This seems like it would be a simple technical fix from the developers of the app and would make it much easier for the users..Version: 6.2.12
Best Bible App Ever ✝️I have recently struggled with anxiety, which does not help me when I have to sleep. I always went to bed crying because of my anxiety. In my school, the teachers and some students used this app so I decided to get it. The moment I got it I realized this WAS the app that I needed for my mental help. This definitely worked/helped me get better, even though I still struggle with anxiety it’s gotten better. Going to a catholic school for my whole life also helps me. But this app helps me get ready for masses, listen to GOOD music, and say my intentions. The way this is like an online-bible is just crazy! I never thought there was an app where you could do all this stuff, but just with a quick prayer, and a quick song on my way to Church definitely brightens up my day. I deffo- recommend for people that are struggling, or just need to connect with God. Thanks to all the developers and all the people who worked hard to make an app that helps people, and is still fun for all ages. ✝️ may God bless whoever read this, have a wonderful day or night.Version: 11.1.0
Beautifully Crafted and AmazingAmazing app. I’ve used it daily and it has helped me so much to grow in my life of prayer. Even if you don’t purchase a subscription, the app is completely functional, no ads and no distractions, simply a few prayers your are unable to access (e.g. they have several rosaries you can pray, such as a daily rosary, a rosary before bed, a scriptural rosary, a workout rosary, etc. but you are only able to pray the daily rosary and a few other variations) I truly believe there is something on here that will resonate with anyone whether it be overcoming grief, anxiety, or simply connecting with Our Lord. Another thing that intrigued me is, you are able to select which narrator reads the prayers to you, and one of the options is Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in the chosen- this really makes you feel close to God, at least for me. You can even change at what speed each narrator reads, in case your in a hurry, or have some extra time. Honestly, I suggest everyone here should give it a try. What’s the worst that could happen? You pray? :).Version: 8.3.2
Best decision of an app purchase!I really struggle with prayer and anxiety at night. I was looking for something to help as I fell asleep or while laying in bed to calm my heart and mind. But I wanted something that was 1- Catholic! And 2- orthodox! I was honestly skeptical when I randomly saw a Facebook add for Hallow. Most “catholic” prayer aides I’ve come across saying things like “meditation” have a very skewed idea of meditation and it tends to quickly digress into things like “finding your third eye” 🤢 what I LOVE about the creators of Hallow is that they desire to reclaim meditation as a unique Christian form of prayer. It has always belonged to the Church and we are responsible for continuing this life giving practice! This is my 4th day using the app and it has already been a game changer! I’m excited to get to bed now, so I can have those last few moments of my day in prayer! The guided meditation is not cheesy and has so many options! I feel more peace then I have for awhile and I find that I’m more aware during my day of the Lord, communicating with Him as my day goes on. I love this app and have been telling everyone about it!.Version: 4.4.1
PrayerIt is wonderful to pray and read scripture in this blessed app. Especially to do so with the calm voice of Jonathan Roumie or the actor that plays the Savior in the hit series The Chosen. I love that show and how the portray Christ with a sense of humor I have not seen shown before or since it began now 4 seasons ago. I am looking forward to seeing the ending of thus new fourth season. I’m currently binging Jesus as they say to remember all the plot that came before in preparation for the showings on March 28-30. You can see the whole season in many theaters around the world, but I know at least in the US those days just before Easter Morn are set aside for that re-release into theaters. I appreciate them doing that for I missed it the first time or at least I watched the first 1-3 episodes and then got sick and could not come to the rest. I invite you all to come to the theaters across the US at least, and join in a celebration. It is not just for Christians either, but anyone seeking a good, clean, and very comical new side to the scriptures. And great storyline might I add..Version: 9.13.0
This app can change your life- and not just for Catholics!I stumbled upon the Christian tradition of contemplative prayer about a year ago and promptly began practicing it on my own. I was pretty good about doing it most every day, but some days were certainly more focused than others. Someone told me about Hallow and I immediately fell in love. I cannot rave enough about this app! I have told all my friends about it (most of whom are not Catholic). Now I can do multiple meditations a day and sometimes I will turn on the angelus or rosary while I am cooking or cleaning for an extra spiritual boost. I have been using the free version for a few months and there is so much great content that I feel like I’m stealing from them! 😬 I will definitely buy the premium version eventually, because this app has already helped me so hugely in deepening my relationship with Christ. Now I feel totally “off” and not nearly as kind or happy when I skip my morning prayer session. I cannot recommend this highly enough- if you commit to it and keep the habits going, it WILL change your life!.Version: 4.5
This app has changed my lifeI can’t recall when I downloaded this app. But since I started regularly utilizing it, it has literally changed my life. My prayer life, which was embarrassingly non-existent, is now a daily conversation with God in which I look forward to. It has reframed how I look at prayer totally. It’s honestly reframed my life. I make a daily effort to walk with the Lord. I have since returned to going to Mass weekly and now visit the Blessed Sacrament in Adoration. I say the rosary frequently and am learning The Divine Mercy Chaplet. Oh, and every time Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus in The Chosen, says at the end of a prayer session, “thank you for praying with me, I look forward to praying with you again soon,” I just want to keep going. That single sentence has literally kept me alive during dark periods of wanting to give up. Now I just pray and keep doing the hard life stuff because life is now worth living. I thank God for that and the maker of this great app. Fantastic product . Will continue to use it forever..Version: 9.4.0
A lot great some really annoyingOverall I love this app, such a variety of choices to help strengthen my faith. The content is excellent . My biggest complaint is the way the actors who read some of the parts speak them with an extremely annoying fake foreign accent. I mean, why would they portray Jesus as speaking English with a fake foreign accent. There was no English during that time. I don’t mean to diminish the actors for their contribution but please just speak English without a fake foreign accent. One more small request would be to allow audio playback to have adjustable speed. Thanks for providing this content Also, I can’t believe people expect this extensive app to be free. I understand I am very fortunate that I am able to pay the subscription cost and I know all can’t but it’s certainly not free to develop and produce all of this information. In an ideal world there would be plenty of people donating enough money to offer it for free but that’s not reliable. I am happy to support the program and maybe allow people the free content if they aren’t able to pay for it..Version: 10.10.0
This app had & continues having a HUGE impact on my conversion journey!!I was protestant all my life until this year May 19 (pentecost day) that I became catholic!!! Hallow has helped me build a habit of beautiful quiet and intentional time with the Lord through the daily reading reflections with Jeff Cavins (who used to be a pastor), the different types of challenges (for lent, praying for the elections, learning about praying the rosary and now advent) which are all amazing and so well designed with beautiful testimonies of so many different people) and also, Father Mike Schmitz sunday homilies!!! This app has been such a God send, a companion in my journey and has impacted and helped me more than I can describe or try to explain. Alex, THANK YOU for creating it and following God’s calling for your life to do it. no doubt He is using you and this app and will continue to do so to reach many more people to bring them to Him. So thankful for this app, its been a gift to my life and now part of my every day❤️ Hope it blessed many others like it has me!.Version: 11.6.0

Learning to actualize Holy Grace given me by GodMy spirit wandered aimlessly in the deserts of this world; but like a seed planted in desert sand, the water of God’s Prevenient Holy Grace germinated my spirit at age twenty-three. I then began reading Holy Scriptures, and The Holy Ghost allowed me to resume my Christian Odyssey in a quest to find the TRUTH , viz., Jesus. Selfishness I had fallen away from Mother Church at age thirteen. Much earlier (age seven) I had learned of The Divine Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. That knowledge embedded an indelible scruple in my soul about receiving the Blessed Sacrament irreverently. The prayers of my beloved matrilineal Grandmother were graciously answered - in God’s Time. The Holy Ghost allowed me free will to wander in my Protestant spiritual ways until at age sixty-four, until bat last I confessed my sins to a Catholic Priest: I confessed, “Bless me Father, I have sinned. It has been fifty-one years since my last confession . . . . ” . I had no prior devotions to Our Blessed Mother Mary as a Protestant. In his Divine Mercy Jesus has led me to His Mother Who now leads me to her Divine Son Jesus, my Lord and my God !.Version: 7.3.0
Finally! Free Bible Text In AppI’ve used Hallow for some time and have really found the features useful (especially Father Mike), even though I am not a subscriber. One thing that held me back from using the Hallow app extensively was the lack of a Bible text in app to follow along with the daily readings and the Bible in a Year without having to open a second app. However, in the most recent update you added the Bible, and the best part:it’s FREE! It is very convenient to have a searchable Bible in app, complete with the daily readings when I open the Bible portion of the app. One improvement I would like to see is the addition of some older Catholic translations like the RSV-CE (so I can follow along with the Bible in a Year because this is the translation Fr. Mike uses) and the Douay-Rheims. These translations have a poetic quality that I, personally, find unmatched by newer ones. I understand that permission to use copyrighted translations requires money, but the Douay-Rheims is public domain, so it should not require any cost for copyright permissions. Thank you for this app, and keep up the good work! God bless!.Version: 9.0.1
More Audio Books Please! And Play All Option.I'll start by saying what a wonderful amazing app this is and I will continue to recommend it to everyone. One of my favorite features this app offers are the audio books. I think it is important to have the word of God playing even as you rest. I wish that there was a PLAY ALL option for ALL of the audio books because only some of them have this feature. I really hope this gets added soon since you can only listen to one chapter at a time and they are only 3-5 minutes long. I also pray they add more audio books so that I don't have to find different sites that have certain books available. It would be very nice to have all the audio books available in one place especially since this app isn't free. I'm on my second year subscription and would just like to see these things addressed. Other than that there are plenty of other things to be explored and enjoyed..Version: 9.10.0
This app will help you get closer to God ✝️Hallow is an incredible Catholic meditation app that offers a truly transformative experience. The first thing that stands out is the app’s beautiful and calming design. Its aesthetics immediately put you in the right mindset for prayer and reflection, making it easy to focus on your spiritual journey. The interface is clean, intuitive, and visually appealing, which adds a peaceful touch to each meditation session. More importantly, Hallow helps you grow closer to God in a deeply personal way. Whether you’re engaging with guided prayers, listening to scripture, or practicing mindfulness through Catholic teachings, the app is a perfect companion for spiritual development. Each feature is thoughtfully curated to inspire a more intimate relationship with God. From daily prayers to personalized meditation plans, every element is crafted to enrich your faith life. If you’re looking for a way to deepen your relationship with God while enjoying a serene and aesthetically pleasing experience, Hallow is an excellent choice..Version: 11.1.0
This app is amazing!Hallow has completely changed the way I approach prayer and mindfulness. The app is beautifully designed, easy to use, and filled with meaningful content that fits into everyday life no matter how busy things get. The guided prayers, sleep meditations, Bible stories, and reflections feel thoughtful and genuine rather than repetitive or generic. What really stands out is how calming and personal the experience feels. Whether I need encouragement, peace before bed, or a few quiet minutes during a stressful day, Hallow always seems to have exactly the right session. The voices are soothing, the production quality is excellent, and the variety of content keeps it fresh. It’s one of the few apps I’ve stuck with consistently because it actually makes a difference. I feel more grounded, focused, and connected spiritually since using it. Highly recommend Hallow to anyone looking to strengthen their faith, build better habits, or simply bring more peace into their daily routine..Version: 13.2.0
The beautiful truth and rejoicingNot only are the songs, so very inspirational the music, the singing such in the first book of the New Testament, Matthew says, with worship, both in truth and spirit at one of the other, but both very beautiful and inspirational. I’m Christian I certainly believe in rejoicing in my worship no that doesn’t mean I have to be a great singer, but I sure enjoyed great singing, and music and rejoicing in the Lord, in that way, so I can rejoice in the Lord without ever making a sound. I believe it says in Psalm 100 we are to rejoice in the Lord. Now, in the first book of the New Testament, Matthew says we are to rejoice in the lord, but we are to worship God, in both truth and spirit. Not one or the other but both. This inspirational music helps us to worship in that way. Amazingly beautiful rejoicing but when you hear the words you say the truth, and what is the truth, Jesus is the truth the way and the Life. No man shall go to God, but that he goes through Jesus. Remember he’s the way..Version: 8.1.0
AI ReadingsI was listening to the homily for today. I was very excited about it. I was feeling a calling from God to reach out to Him, so I opened my Hallow app and the homily for the day was titled “Jesus”. And that was literally all I wanted .. I just wanted to receive Jesus, and I felt that I was being called to do that. So when I was listening to the reading, I heard a glitch in the sound and got an eerie feeling that it was just an AI chat bot and it made me feel so sorrowfully deceived that I was unable to listen to the rest of the reading. I played it a bit longer, but when the father came on, I didn’t know if it was a real human speaking or just some AI. Therefore, I could not continue because it did not feel like it was the word of God coming from the mouths of one of his children. It just felt like words being sounded out by a computer. They fell cold and deaf. And that’s not what I come to this app to get. I find so much great content on this app, but that threw a curveball at me. After the scandal(s) of the Catholic Church, I need a higher trust system, and including AI in the readings is not one of them for me..Version: 13.1.0
Needs workThis app is wonderful in terms of content, however, in terms of VoiceOver usability, it needs a good deal of work. It looks as though it should be accessible, however it is often extremely difficult to navigate with voiceover. Much of the home screen is virtually impossible to manage because voiceover gets hung up on the screen and totally freezes. Often there is no way to back out of a screen other than closing the app and starting over. many buttons are either not clearly labeled or labeled at all. instructions on the help screen refer to icons which voiceover users cannot see. There are no voiceover Hints, which would be extremely helpful given the complexity of this app. It is complex enough, in fact, that I would almost like to see a tutorial specifically for voiceover users. At this point, I am not advising other blind users I know to use this app until some changes have been made.I have been using Hallow for about a year now and I'm still learning things about it purely by trial and error. Somehow, this just doesn't seem right!.Version: 8.1.3
Atheist to Hippie to ChristianMy journey has been a long one. Born into the catholic faith before rejecting it and all religion as pre-industrial nonsense, to Jordan Peterson teaching of metaphysics and meaning, to using psychedelics and pursuing all religions for their meaning and developing my own new age belief, to 15+ years later finally being a Christian again. I’ve started using Hallow after many synchronicities in life have pushed me towards Christ, including The Chosen by Angel Studios, which made me want to be closer to Jesus. The actor portraying Him showed up in an advertisement for Hallow and I thought “what the heck, why not?” If you struggle with faith, I promise there is something to be gained from the practices. As Mary said to the wedding servants at Cana, “do whatever he tells you.” We are called to follow and obey before belief. That is the act of faith. He reaches out to each of us in whatever way He deems best. I ask you, app or not, to visit the Bible with an open mind, but more importantly, an open heart..Version: 8.2.16
Okay, but needs basicsBetter to something than nothing, so I am happy that this exists. But it needs major improvements. Rosary routines are not as given to the world by Mary. Instead, this offers a the new version, with JP-II’s additions. Would be easy to add the original version. Psalms uses a truly bad translation. Deep meanings in the mental poetry are completely removed. Offer alternate translations that adhere closely to the Hebrew text, like the Douay-Rheims, or the Grail Psalter. It’s no surprise that Bishop Barron is featured in this. Though he very often strikes out when a specific soul is on the line & the theological bases are loaded in the bottom of the 9th inning. Not withstanding any critiques of his statements on the eternal logos being just “the privileged way” & “we have a reasonable hope that all men are saved” , he manages to be in the spotlight constantly, and seems to showcase his own intellect more than the Trinity’s mercy/justice, love for us, & mastery of all. I’d rather his presence here be counter balanced with the simple faith and bold proclamation of other prelates who do not show so many sign an egocentric predilection..Version: 6.2.2
Very responsive to my problem: Cannot get app to open any more!Within just a few days Hallow contacted me with help for my problem getting into the App. I downloaded the update and all is well again. Thanks, Hallow. It’s a magnificent app. I do listen to it all day again! Bible in a Year—3rd year in a row, and now Catechism in. Year! Love the prayer challenges and the Scriptural Rosay is so moving—and for me, at least, the best way to meditate on each mystery. I would listen to it all day every day—which I did until around January 1,2023. Now it won’t go any further than the purple screen of the opening page. For a few days, it would open automatically when I I put in my ear buds, and I’d have to pray whatever it offered—I’d be listening to sleep prayers in the morning. But now, even when it prompts me from my routine schedule, when I tap the prompt it just takes me to the purple screen and sits there. For hours, even all day. Very sad to lose it..Version: 8.2.0
Plenty of FREE and paid optionsFor those who complained that the app isn't free, there are tons of FREE options on here! And if you are upset because "prayer shouldn't cost money," have you ever stepped into a shop that sells Catholic goods? Candles, rosaries, prayer cards, books? Are those things free? No, someone spent time designing and creating them. You aren't forced to buy them. You can pray the rosary with your God-given ten fingers, after all. You can pray without ever picking up a prayer book. But if you CHOOSE to buy those resources because you enjoy them and they enrich your prayer life, ythat's your choice. This app is AMAZING and life-changing and it keeps getting better. For me, it's worth the subscription cost. I know some people cannot afford the cost and I understand that can be frustrating. But use the free resources. And don't knock the app because it costs money. The time and development that goes into an app like this costs money. It doesn't make it bad..Version: 5.5.4
Worth buying!I’ve never been one to sit still and I have a busy mind. Suffice to say that meditation doesn’t come naturally. Yet I was dealing with some generalized anxiety post surgery and wanted to try some meditation. I also knew that for my comfort level, I preferred it to be Catholic meditation. I really believe God led me to this site. It’s worth the yearly subscription. What I didn’t expect was the inner healing and insights I received- and which I could then journal and record right on the app. God’s love and presence just seemed to explode as I sat in the guided silences and meditated on the scriptures provided. I’m so grateful! My favorite is the daily scripture meditation. Brings me closer to daily Mass while I still recuperate. I like the ten minute option but you could do 5 or 15 instead. I’d really recommend this too for those homebound but interested in growing spiritually. It can be a home made retreat if you let it! If you want Catholic it’s here. But it clearly is “catholic” in the sense that it’s for all of us..Version: 4.2.3
20 years young & learningI honestly don’t know how I found this app. I was raised Catholic and attended weekly mass. But once I got to college I decided to put Christianity on the back burner and do life my way. So I did & it got to be pretty self-destructive and wasn’t bringing about goals or calming my worries I was missing God in my plan. COVID-19 happened and that sent me back into my child home & emotionally was rough being in quarantine & feeling this overwhelming amount of shame & guilt & this yearning to get closer to God. I love mediation & was using headspace often. But I remember reading this article saying how vision boards and affirmations were the law of attraction & how mediation can even be focused to much on yourself. I realized I call myself Catholic but I wasn’t at all I wasn’t living a Christian filled life. I wanted to find truth and grow back in my faith & this app is beautifully designed & so well thought out that it’s slowly helping me back to my Catholic faith. Thank you 💜.Version: 5.2.2
A lot of great material. Most up to date. Eyes getting bad so listening is best option for a seniorThis is becoming very expensive. I understand people need to be paid for their work. At 75, limited budget, I think this is becoming more than I can afford. No senior discount? Military discount? I do like the app. I am Catholic. The local church has merged apparently a shortage of clergy. The priest realized I was having trouble getting up and down. Is there any discount? Thank you. A few, healthcare professional( RN-licensed is active) Served my country with honorable discharge, on my DD214. No hero, sharpshooter badge, national defense award. I’m trying my best to pay, yet medical issues keep popping up. I answered a prayer request from my church. Saint Teresa of Calcutta. Thx to an a no name president, I’m stuck. One medication is $600, then drops to $15-20. I keep finding more prayers. I’ll find a way to continue to purchase. This is beyond 5 stars. I’d rate 10 stars if allowed.Version: 12.15.1
Absolutely love it! But…I use Hallow daily (many times a day). And I have for several years now. Ot has helped me to make prayer a part of my daily routines, has drawn me deeper into my faith, and assisted me in reading - and understanding! - the entire Bible for the first time in my life. To say it has been transformational is not an overstatement. However… I do wish that there were a way for me to share episodes (in particular of Jeff Cavins Daily Reflections) with my friends and family without them having to install the app or subscribe. Many times I encounter something I feel that they just really need to hear - or Jeff compels me to share a message with them, like today! - and there’s no easy way for me to get them to listen to it. Women from my church group who I’ve emailed links to have later told me that they “don’t know how to use the app” or they “don’t want to subscribe” or they “don’t have a smart phone”… My wayward children who I’ve begged to take a listen have told me they’re “not gonna install an app just to listen.” I understand the value of the content and appreciate the quality and I know that it’s worth every penny I pay. But from an evangelization standpoint, I wish there was a way to “spread the Good News” (I’m trying here, Jeff!) without always bumping up against these objections (road blocks.) Keep up the great work, Hallow! You are changing the world!.Version: 9.9.0
My review isn’t about the app!I just want you to know you don’t have to add anything to Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross! There are no sacraments or things you have to pay or achieve to receive His forgiveness!! If you look only to the Bible, and not the added texts through history, you will see that Jesus’s sacrifice was so powerful that He broke every chain. You will see that we earn forgiveness through faith, not of works, so that no man can boast. Hebrews tells us Jesus died once for all, not every time we have communion. It tells us no one else is to worshipped but God— not Mary, and not the Saints. There is no Priest or earthly being that is between me and praying with my God. It is a deep, intimate relationship. I cannot buy forgiveness for my sins. I do not have a license to freely sin. Jesus is our motivation to not sin. He got up on that cross while we were spitting in His face and yelling “crucify” and it is His redeeming and all-powerful love and grace that should knock us upside the head and leave us completely changed. And it is from that that we decide we want to live a life for Him and tell others of this salvation. The goal is not legalism or to become good enough to earn His forgiveness because that gives us glory and not our precious, crucified Savior Romans 5:8 God proves His love for us in that while we were yet sinning, Christ died for us. Know you’re loved in such an unfathomable way! Oh sinner, you do not have to achieve this grace, it is freely given. Only do not use this grace as a reason to sin because you know you’ll be forgiven. Hi, I received a developer response but was unable to read it. I wanted to edit this because I didn’t give it one stars for any particular reason and I don’t remember why I did that, so it’s an unfair rating. I also wanted to change my title because it had the opposite effect of what I was trying to get across. I’m sorry about that! My review isn’t about the quality of that app..Version: 6.2.19
Life-Changing Prayer AppHallow has been a game changer in my prayer life. The app makes it so easy to pause during the day, center myself, and connect with God. The guided prayers, meditations, and reflections are thoughtful and calming, and I really appreciate how much variety there is whether I only have 5 minutes or want to go deeper. One of my favorite features is the Rosary. Having it prayed out loud while I follow along has helped me pray the Rosary daily with much more consistency. The gentle pace, background music, and the option to choose different voices make it easy to stay focused and prayerful. For anyone who’s ever struggled with distractions or keeping track of decades, this feature alone is worth having the app. The interface is clean, easy to use, and the voices guiding the prayers feel peaceful and genuine. It’s also been a huge help for building consistency in prayer, which I’ve always struggled with..Version: 12.8.1
Prayer goal badges not workingEditing since someone was kind enough to reach out to me, hopefully the problem will be resolved soon. I do enjoy this app. The prayer goal badges stopped tracking. It will say I’m on day 25 of 40 for the in the desert badge but my activity calendar says over 43 now. The hello and welcome badge says 0/9 but I’ve completed 6 all with green check mark beside them. I’ve tried to ask for help one time person did reply but simply asked me to check if my app was updated which I did before contacting help but I made double sure and then I sent screen shots of what was happening and more emails but it’s been weeks and no return response. This may seem trivial to some but if I’m paying this much for an app it should work. I’ve troubleshot all I could logged in and out even deleted the app and redownloaded and as I said the app and the phone software is up to date. It would be nice if someone would help or at least say they can’t..Version: 8.2.15
Relaxing into HallowAfter hearing about Hallow, I decided to check it out. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that it is Catholic- but I was surprised and a bit dismayed as I am wary of any teaching (ESPECIALLY MEDITATION ) that tries to add or subtract from Christ and Him crucified or that teaches we need a mediator between man and God other than Jesus (our great High Priest)! I listened to the scripture for today (Luke -although I had to look it up in my Bible because I don’t think the chapter & verses were given-too bad). I listened twice and began to relax-(trying to discern but not judge :-) Then I opened my Daily Decree by Brenda Kunneman and had to laugh …”A Keen Ear to Hear”…it was a confirmation that indeed “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word (Rhema implying revelation) of God”(Romans 10:17). I can see that Hallow can help me dive deeper into an intimate relationship with my Heavenly Father. Thank you to Jordan Peterson & Tucker Carlson for introducing me to “Hallow.” Norma in Texas..Version: 11.4.1
Use your phone as a tool for spiritual growthI've been using Hallow for a couple of years now, and I can confidently say it has been a game-changer in my spiritual journey. This app is truly amazing and has brought me closer to God, catechized me in my faith, and taught me so much. It’s filled with a rich variety of prayer, spiritual books, and music. There truly is something for everyone. It simply helps me stay connected to my faith throughout the day, making my phone feel like a sacred tool for spiritual growth. The app's design is intuitive and easy to navigate, making it a pleasure to use. I love how it seamlessly integrates into my daily routine, turning even a few spare moments into meaningful time with God. It's worth every penny for the peace, inspiration, and spiritual growth it brings. If you're looking for an app that truly transforms your prayer life and turns your phone into something holy, this is the one!.Version: 10.11.1
ExcellentOn March 30, 2021 I received the following response to a review I posted about Hallow: "Hello! Thank you so much for giving the app a try. So sorry to hear that the guides do not resonate with you. When choosing our guides it was very important to us to choose folks we knew truly believed in what they were saying, which is how we landed on Abby (a Catholic mother, wife, and theologian) and Francis (a seminarian) - Totally agree with your point of representing the millions of Catholics that we can as well. As for our current voices, Francis is actually Vietnamese, but we are also looking to expand into Spanish this year and many more languages in years following to make sure we can reach the millions of Catholics out there to your point. With that said, we know that who is reading the meditation is a personal preference and no voice will resonate with all of our users. To that end, we are already in the process of finding a third English-speaking narrator as well to add to the app this year that I hope will be more up your alley. In the meantime, I might recommend trying the Bible Story section of the Sleep tab as this tab is full of stories read by other narrators, as is our Guest section on the Meditate tab. Hope this helps and thank you again for your feedback!" Since that time they have not only helped me understand what I was missing in sharing my previous concerns, they have addressed them and developed the app with careful consideration for the feedback they receive. It is now 2024 and what impresses me is not their user base growth, but the dedication they have to providing the best, spirit-led experience they can at a reasonable cost to their consumers. There are good people working hard to help this app grow. I appreciate more than ever the voices of those who helped start it and the welcoming quality of those who are working so hard to keeping it going with God’s help. I am glad I came back and hope you read this if you ever decide to go, because this app is excellent and worth it. They are listening and working to make it better each day..Version: 10.9.0
Prayer is much more relaxedThankyou for putting this together. I can only afford the free version But still very helpfull.I wish there was some free night mediations in it..Version: 3.2.2
Great Gift to the ChurchI am pleasantly surprised at the quality of this app. I’m going to tell other people about it for sure!.Version: 3.0.0
HallowSo much offered in this app! I love all of the choices. Please please add more to your Intro for Middles (ages 8 - 13). It has been wonderful to use with my 10 yr old grandson and I wish there were more sessions. The one for Littles is too young and the teen one is not a fit. The Middles sessions are perfect!.Version: 10.11.1
VoiceThe voice is too slow, it’s nice that the lector is relax and this is calming but, it’s so slow that it is frustrating, maybe I am resisting a new method that God is trying to form me into, but the breathy and slow speech is irksome. But the content is amazing thank you so much..Version: 5.8.1
The best Catholic prayer app you can findUnlike all other apps, it doesn't 'sell' you anything other than the $80 Growing closer to God for $80? Priceless None other apps does it 1/100 as well..Version: 9.0.1
So grateful for Hallow!!!Hallow is a truly beautiful prayer app! It has been such a blessing to me and has shaped my prayer life in a very positive way. I love their prayer challenges. Free trial months ?Not really free - gathering information app ? No idea - good prayers though . The free trial should be marked as a bonus as you do have to sign over your credit card information. I am not giving credit card information for a free three month trial ..Version: 8.1.0
SacredI am not catholic but Jonathan Roumie has a great voice to read scripture . So I thought what the heck, let’s get it. I have come to have a routine of listening to the daily scripture every morning and then do the examens at night. It’s not about the chosen Jesus anymore. What this catholic app reminded me was the sacred part of Jesus. I don’t understand everything on this app but I love what I have found that brings me closer to God. You won’t regret it..Version: 5.6.0
SharingA question: can I share this app with my husband, or must he buy his own ?.Version: 13.3.0

IncredibleReally well developed, smooth & pleasing to the eye. It will be a disservice to yourself not to pay for the full version, it will really help you grow more into your faith. If you have money for Netflix you a 100% can afford to pay the full version..Version: 13.1.0
My honest opinionAlot of the things require you to pay, but there are some options that are still free and helpful. I like that..Version: 13.1.0
Reconnecting to GodI have began reconnecting with my Catholic faith and hallow has helped me to have a pray routine via guided prayer and meditation especially the Rosary with Mark Wahlberg it’s easier to follow as it’s intense to relearn and keeps you on track it takes around 15 minutes and is very rewarding..Version: 13.1.0
Prayer and MeditationIt grounds me whatever I do. It also helped to build my praying routine. I feel closer with God..Version: 13.0.1
Why I cannot share it with FamilyShare feature?Hello, Me and my whole family enjoy this beautiful app. I have a question. My kids and I we have the Family Share activated, to share our purchases like apps and books. Would that be possible to enable family members to share the app? Thank you..Version: 12.20.0
Daily dose of HallowI am loving this app. I did a Google review and noticed that people complain about having to pay to pray. The app costs money to make so why on Earth would it be free - especially when there are no ads? But there is more to Hallow than just praying. It is guided prayer, meditation, wonderful stories, and music. There might be more but that is what I found so far since I started using it at the beginning of Lent. I will pay for this app because I love my daily dose of Hallow and the strengthened connection I feel I have with the Lord..Version: 12.20.0

Get Closer to The Lord Our GodI want to start by saying this app is pretty great. It’s got incredible speakers and intuitive functionality. The reason for my review is primarily for some updates I do believe would make this app a bit more popular and mainstream This is for the developers, it goes as follows: 1. Make the Bible portion of the app downloadable: If I’m on vacation or have lost connection in remote areas I can’t read the Bible. Of course I could download another app but I would deem that a bit cumbersome 2. Keeping day streaks without internet connection: I went on a cruise and lost my incredible streak. It’s not painstaking but I do like keep track of how many days I’ve stayed consistent. I’m not entirely sure if that’s possible but if there was a way to stop auto refreshing on the back end only if and when the app is connected to Internet to continue the streak 3. Masses on live streams: Another incredible idea I do believe that would make this app get 5-10x more people is having live MASSES! I do understand it’s important to not skip mass on Sundays but unfortunately you can’t attend sometimes due to bad timing, illness etc. It should not be a replacement but a good faith effort. As for now, that is all I have. I do believe the vast majority of the Hallow community would agree with these suggestions. I do really hope the development team can come around and implement these changes. Thanks for reading my review..Version: 12.14.1
Stay connectedHallow helps me to stay on my path in my spiritual journey. Great to have split the daily actions, achieving them motivates one to come back the next day. It’s not too much, it is just right as the daily bread..Version: 12.13.2

Jesus is King!Hallow has truly been a blessing in my daily life. The app is peaceful, easy to use, and filled with so many beautiful prayers, reflections, and meditations. I love how calming the audio guides are they help me slow down, breathe, and reconnect with God throughout the day. The scripture readings, sleep prayers, and challenges keep me consistent and grounded. I also appreciate how the app makes faith feel accessible and comforting, especially during stressful or busy moments. It’s honestly become part of my daily routine. If you’re looking to strengthen your prayer life or find more peace, I highly recommend Hallow..Version: 12.11.1
