Rebel Inc. Positive Reviews
Favorite strategy game right hereAs a person who plays LOTS of war/strategy games, of them all this one is hands down my top 1 or 2 in my favorites- not only is it extremely fun, but having gotten Escalation as well and here having all the extra levels, every penny is worth it. Overall, the mechanics are well balanced and the game plays out smoothly, and the game really takes a good level of thinking to play. The scenario creator as well is very seamlessly good and is also very well made, and I overall find the whole game very fun, even after you’ve beaten everything. Though for me personally, the best part about the game was when new levels (like Azure Dam or Opium Fields) would drop, as they added a whole new level of gameplay to discover and the playing of them are a lot more fun than the base. The only thing I would overall think would need to be improved in the game is Opium Fields should be slightly nerfed on Mega Brutal, as it’s a big jump in difficulty, and also to have some more new levels would be really great, maybe something similar to Azure Dam. A good idea I had seen as well was of a level where the President is helping the insurgents with military forces, and so you have to plan through initiatives and pop-ups how you would assassinate him. A few suggestions, but overall, really amazing game, and this is definitely a MUST for anyone who’s into strategy/war games, and although a little complicated at first, it’s really fun once you get into it..Version: 1.13.1
This game is uniqueI was looking for a game like this where you are like a government and you do your best to improve the region and try to make life better for civilians while trying to win a war against Rebels that will destabilize the region if you don’t stop them and the best part is that even on easy mode it is still challenging to master I could not find a game like this anywhere and I looked everywhere and investigated but this game was the one I was looking for that is why I think it’s unique thank you for creating this game 😁👍 SUMMARY OF MY EXPERIENCE: If you like Strategy Games, War Games, Map Games then this game offers these combined with a feeling of realism when it comes to trying to gain support on the region and situations where you have to cover up some air strikes or be honest both with their own consequences. You probably won’t get bored since you get to unlock new maps when you win a game and there are 3 difficulty levels. I was unsure if I wanted to buy the game because I was afraid it would disappoint me but I feel like it’s better than plague inc (which is why it’s 2 bucks more). I REALLY want this game to succeed and be recognized more because I want more games like this one and it’s just 3 dollars it seems like a lot but I bet just by searching my house I can find that with coins. It just seems like a lot on our phones since we are so used to having cheaply made free games on our phone (Some are actually good but majority are just ok or bad) You get what you pay for is all I am saying..Version: 1.15.1
Enjoyably difficult, please make a medieval one...Big fan of Plague Inc. and was surprised at how different this game is in comparison. Similar yet, different enough to feel fresh and not like a copy pasta that so many other games do these days. It’s absurdly difficult though and my manhood won’t allow me to drop the difficulty. So if you do get this one, and I recommend you do, be ready to be kept busy while you’re playing. You’ll have to learn how to balance your three investment trees or you won’t get anywhere. Plus the rebels keep you fairly busy when they show up and ignoring them just makes things really bad. You should also be made aware that, while other complain about how the game makes them feel obligated to purchase the advisors for unlock, it isn’t necessary. You can earn them, it just takes time and maybe a few minutes of banging your head into a wall. It’s a good way to help support the devs if you do decide to buy into them though, so it’s really a win win. You get your advisors and the dev gets what they need to keep developing. Now, please make something medieval....I really want to see the spin you guys can put on it like you have with PI and RI. I think that’d be awesome to see from you guys. Of course do what the market demands. Best of luck in your future endeavors!.Version: 1.5.0
Fun game, couple changes could make it betterThis game is very fun and engaging for a mobile game. However I must say that some mechanics in the game are very challenging to deal with and make some matches next to impossible to win. Any match that only allows coalition soldiers is beyond frustrating to deal with since they only have a limited deployment time before being sent home and no reputation can survive more than a few deployment extensions. I find this quite unrealistic considering that I will be engaged in very heavy fighting and suddenly have no choice but to send a unit home, losing reputation from that zone being “retreated from” and now being down one more unit. I know for a fact the United States didn’t pull its troops out randomly when they were needed the most until 2021 when that changed. The other questionable mechanic is the fact that you can have 4 units surrounding an insurgent pocket and yet somehow they can still slip away through the one uncovered zone. I get that insurgents can be very resilient and sneaky, however I think there should still be a chance all are eliminated considering the overwhelming force around them. One more frustrating thing is when you will secure a zone and then randomly the 300 insurgents out of a 20k population zone with thousands supporting the operation somehow establish a camp, forcing resources to be diverted. Beyond frustrating..Version: 1.15.1
Unique and SatisfyingRebel, Inc. uses much of the same game mechanics as Plague which makes for an easy transition. However, with the addition of coalition troops and insurgents the game offers another more active dimension of gameplay that turns out to be incredibly satisfying. Not only are you spending money on region specific bonuses (much like plague) you are also training troops needed to push back inevitable insurgencies as you try to stabilize the region. Lots of fun! The game still suffers from the same issues that plague has a lot of which can be blamed on the limits of mobile gaming in general. The most glaring is the GUI for the operation “bonuses” or “initiatives” that help with the stabilization efforts which are displayed in a scattered web of hexagons with loosely related bonuses (again much like plague). It’s unclear what each one does even after buying the requisite bonuses that lead up to it, leading to a lot of squinting at my screen trying to understand the specifics. I come away from games having had fun but feeling a bit lost, having no inkling of what I was doing wrong or how I could have done it better. Surely there is a more intuitive way to present the strategy options to players. Still a great game and it excites me that the developers are toying with the Plague gameplay mechanics and see their potential. They’re very unique and I feel could eventually lead to a fresh and nuanced civilization building type game along the lines of the amazing Civ franchise..Version: 1.3.3
Good Game, nerf insurgentsThe game is extremely well polished, the design is simple and strong. But the insurgents are way too powerful. When I block out insurgents from escaping and have another unit destroying them they push on my blocking units. Once they get repelled the insurgents don’t go back to where they came from, they just walk through my troops like nothing happened. Also, it is extremely annoying (and unfair) that once I stop insurgents in one area and make sure for the red goes away I relocate my troops to stop the next insurgents, 5 seconds later they just reappear at the area I just cleared. And now my reputation is down halfway. Also, the mountain map’s descriptions says that the only way around is through the valley, a whole bunch of lies. The game would be more interesting if you can’t travel through mountains (neither can insurgents) So the choke point would actually be important to take, the mountains are a huge pain to deal with. Edit: Thank you for responding, Ndemic. I really love your games and find them a fun but challenging experience. They work the brain in ways I never thought were possible. Also, After beating the mountain level I’ve noticed that I had been doing it wrong the whole time. Also, I’m not the best tactician so that might have contributed..Version: 1.4.2
Thoughtful take on a complex topic and an engaging game too!Despite the simple interface, there’s quite a lot to this game. Learning it is a real joy as you’re forced to grapple with some real life decisions where the morally “right” answer might cause more problems than a messy compromise. The game’s economy is pretty well balanced too and I constantly find myself wanting to buy two or three upgrades, but only having the money for one. It forces you to prioritize, which is really the meat of the game. The push and pull between the military affairs in the war and the civilian “hearts and minds” is excellently captured, as committing too much to one of the other will result in a mission loss from the other. It’s all about striking the right balance. That being said, there is an optimal build/tactic order in the game, and once you figure it out, the game becomes relatively trivial even on the hardest difficulty. But, there are plenty of achievements to go after. And, the bonus maps they’ve been adding to the game include extra stressors that can mix it up even the dominant strategy. Best of all, this is a game with unlocks! You can shortcut them with money, but if you want to see everything for only your initial buy in, that’s possible! Highly recommend on that business practice alone..Version: 1.4.5
⭐️AMAZING GAME⭐️This game will not able to profit by just selling $1.99. So many elements are involved. Governmental problems like corruption, reputation, and civil support are involved. Military factors like civil army and united army are involved. You can also use tons of fun tactics in response to the local landscape. It’s also fun to find a perfect balance between civil hope and government requirements in your way to the union. You can literally do EVERYTHING in this $1.99 game! Edit: The game is absolutely awesome, but I do have few suggestions. First, you can create a situation, where the insurgents could be tactical and ending up eliminating player’s army. However, the insurgents are still too overpowered, and they don’t seem like they could be tamed at all without the players’ tactics. In addition, you could add plagues in the game, which could make the game more complex. And also, in easy and normal mode, the corruption doesn’t do any harm to the gaming experience, and I wish you could make corruption more impactful, too. Lastly, I hope that the players could have more freedom, and they get to choose where they build the fortress, and at what time they need to discuss with the insurgents. But still, great game! I hope my comment could be seen by the game makers. You are absolutely awesome :).Version: 1.4.5
Well-designed strategy gameThis game is very fun and has quite a lot of depth to it. Beating the main maps on brutal or mega-brutal requires a healthy understanding of the games systems, but often also a lot of good RNG. You'll eventually stumble into Pravus' standard build that, with limited exceptions, is required in order to win on mega-brutal. There are simply some advisors that are better than others and some initiatives that are more broadly necessary than others. So eventually games all start feeling relatively the same, but there is a lot of improvisation that you'll have to do in your exact build path in order to respond to the particular map you're playing and the rng you're getting. The maps and governors are not particularly balanced, in that some maps are easy to beat with any governor even on the mega-brutal and others are nigh impossible to beat with any governor without perfect rng. Governors like the General and the Tank Commander are also very obviously significantly worse than others like the Smuggler. These balancing issues and many RNG-dependent systems are my main complaints, but overall the game is great and offers a lot of value for a phone game..Version: 1.10.2
Good But Could Use Drastic ImprovementsFirst of all I would like to say that the game is solid and is worth its money, it’s a textured game though lacks some content to keep you playing for long as not too much is there. I would like to start off with how insurgent soldiers can just “withdraw” into a different territory than where it came from, literally had an insurgency group attack my men, fail, and then withdrew onto the other side of my soldiers as if they got behind my soldiers and left my entire exposed territory for there reign of terror, this one makes my blood boil the most 😡. Next is group of insurgency soldiers who spawn half way across the map and start taking territory there, which decimates my entire game if all my troops on the other side, which is not many as you can only have eight in total and if you keep hanging on to the coalition troops for too long you start to lose a LOT of reputation and will end up losing the game, so in reality you only have 4 permanent troops which is not much as you have to corner insurgents to kill them so if you 1 insurgent cornered using three troops and then suddenly a RANDOM group of insurgents just jolly about into one of your territory your basically playing cat and mouse with that one free troop that you have 🤦♂️, you basically can never have a map without insurgents, or at least I haven’t gotten to that point, there are a number of other things I would like to speak about but this is getting too long, so general updated to the game with more optimization, customization, and more options should make this game great..Version: 1.1
Rigged From The StartThe game is quite fun, and will keep you thoroughly engaged and wanting to play more. However, I do have a problem with the “brutal” and “mega brutal” difficulty settings, and that is consistency. From what I’ve gathered, the way this setting makes the game harder is essentially throwing up a coin toss to determine if you’ll win or not. This is coming from someone who’s won brutal difficulty with every governor on nearly every map and is in the process of 100%ing mega brutal, the frustration and inconsistency makes the game less fun, not more challenging. You can go through the same steps, buy the same initiatives in the same pattern, and it will have different outcomes each time in brutal difficulty. It begins to feel as if you go into a brutal game with your outcome already predetermined for you. Sometimes you’ll stabilize regions midway through 2003, sometimes you’ll somehow have managed to lose the game with no stabilized regions and, no exaggeration, the entire map covered and surprise attacks every fifteen seconds by insurgents by 2005. Both these times, I did the exact same strategy, but my input had little effect on the game. Eh, it’s still a good game. It just frustrates me with the seemingly futile and helpless games it thrusts me into, and that your input sometimes doesn’t even matter. This game is entirely arbitrary, essentially a random-number generating simulation that give the player no agency in if they actually win. No matter how smart, strategic, or careful you are, your input has literally 0 effect on if you win or lose a game. Truth is, the game was rigged from the start..Version: 1.13.1
Very Good But Also LudicrousI've been playing Rebel Inc. nearly since the day it was released and I haven't stopped playing it. It's a very good and innovative game with a high replay value. Concept, graphics and sounds are superb. You will be challenged, defeated and eventually hear yourself curse. This game takes time to master. A lot of time... I have completed all maps with all governors on Brutal mode. Currently on Mega Brutal mode, but it feels like the Ndemic devs or James Vaughan was that annoying kid that always tries to devise last minute super powers to outclass yours. Mega Brutal mode is so made up that it stops being fun. E.g. You have all, I repeat, ALL Civilian, Government and Military initiatives. Support level is high, Inflation and Corruption almost none. Stability at 96% Reputation over 70. You have insurgents surrounded on one side. Out of nowhere, insurgents appear on the other side of the map and you're left off chasing them until you direct them towards the other surrounded insurgents, a corner or simply wait for the Peace agreement. My point is, Brutal mode was fun because it actually made you think and followed some real world rules. Mega Brutal makes no sense even after you've won..Version: 1.8.0
Thought provokingI have a very nerdy take on this app. If you’re interested in American foreign policy and/or the history of places like Afghanistan (which this app is de facto based upon), then you’ll find this app very thought provoking. One key point is that, in some ways, Rebel Inc seems to think about itself as a game, offering the “player” rewards for achieving “victory.” But in practice it is what it says it is—a counterinsurgency simulator. There is not always a way to win the game, because there is not always a way to stabilize a war-torn region. In these reviews, I see a lot of people complaining that it is sometimes impossible to “win.” They’re right, but that’s only a complaint if you’re thinking of this app as a game and not a simulator. While there are some satisfying gameplay mechanics to be found here, the real value of this simulator is 1) the way it forces you to reckon with the real paradoxes of counterinsurgency strategy, and 2) the way it offers some thought experiments on what combinations of political, military, and civilian efforts might lead to counterinsurgency successes depending on the circumstances. Personally, I found this simulator very worthwhile, and I’m surprised someone had the guts to make it..Version: 1.3.3
AwesomenessThis game is awesome because they took there old game kept the format (to some extent) and made it greater. I love this game because everything that happens for most of the game is determined in the first 3 minutes because most upgrades take time to be used (which they should) and the in depth timing strategy you have to use throughout the rest of the game. Love the maps and love that the governors are radically different from each other so each game takes different strategy. There is really one thing I don’t like about the game it’s that when you put troops in a zone if you haven’t scouted that zone already your troops wont help neighboring zones fight which is kind of anoying. Some suggestions for future updates (although I know you already have great ones planned) it would be cool if we could play as the underpowered rebels and try to either get the best peace deal possible or just take over. And it would be neat to see more types of military troops maybe like dogs that sniff out and tell you where the next zone to be attacked is or some riot control that contain insergunts until you can send in real troops to wipe em out. Thanks for another great game please keep up the awesome work!.Version: 1.0.2
Interesting FeaturesSo I got the billionaire and already new advisors, also the devil’s peak, i completed the campaign mode on mega brutal multiple times, but even though I completed it, I always learn whatever I can especially on mega brutal. So Ndemic Creations i have a question, will you be adding the last governor on this game, soon? I really did like the campaign since how different events that can play out, but also how challenging it is, because how the insurgents will develop tactics. My recent one I had to deal with was combat network, and split and run. Combat network isn’t a big deal when you have garrisons, airstrikes, and drones combined with combat sensors. While split and run was annoying to me, I just funded the local militias early on to make sure they be killed off, and use the police too. But anyway I’m still learning just for fun, because this game was engaging to me, anyway I won’t bother you much, I really did enjoy this game. Let me know Ndemic Creations, I really did appreciate this game, and I’m gonna try out the billionaire to see how effective is he, in all the maps, especially mega brutal. Thanks. PS: sorry it’s long though..Version: 1.15.0
Good game, but poor balancingThis game is a neat concept, and I do recommend it, but it suffers from very poor balancing issues. It’s has two main sides to it: building civilian infrastructure, and building/upgrading military forces to combat an insurgency. The latter takes the forefront by far. Yes, the game IS called Rebel Inc., but the civilian infrastructure half should have a greater priority than it does. I find myself simply throwing money at it when I have some available and hoping it does something. There’s really no real interaction with it, it’s all passive. Throw money at it, and hope it does something you need. That’s it. As for the rebel side, I think it works well, but the “spreading” part really needs some work. I find myself constantly moving a single army around to track down a single, roaming terrorist unit, upwards of 20 times before it finally dies. During this time, the reputation bar goes up and down, up and down, meaninglessly. It’s pointless aggravation, and does nothing overall, either mechanics-wise or to represent reality. I also find that the rebels sometimes have undue influence on the reputation bar. They manage to capture 3 remote areas (out of maybe 15 or 20) and suddenly my reputation bar is going down at a rate of 1 per second, giving me approximately a minute until game over (this is one normal difficulty). It’s nonsensical, unbalanced, unrealistic, and ultimately unhelpful. Tl;dr : Civilian half of the game needs much, much greater player integration; rebel side needs a downgrade, as well as debuffs under certain circumstances. Good game, but in definite need of mechanic rebalancing..Version: 1.1
I Am Diggin It.I've been playing this game for many months now and I like it quite a bit. I'm reading the negative reviews and the things that are being complained about are actually the reasons why I like the game so much. It's not a run-of-the-mill strategy game, not a war game, not a building game. It is exactly what it should be, representing the struggle of trying to stabilize a region after it has been devastated. People are complaining saying "If you invest in the military you can't pay for civilian improvements! If you pay off corruption, you can't afford to fight off the insurgents!" To all these things, I say, yes that's how it is! That's what it's like, trying to stabilize a region. It's reality. That's what makes it uniquely challenging. It isn't impossible, it's just difficult to balance priorities. Every move has to be done carefully, every dollar has to be spent wisely. There's a unique strategy to this game, and it requires learning a sense of balance in order to win. I really dig it. I gave it 4 stars before because it didn’t have much content, but now I’m giving it 5 stars because new maps and governors are being added! Thanks, developers!.Version: 1.3.3
Fascinating So Far...As a huge fan of Plague, Inc, I was excited to investigate this new application and, after only one game, I have not been disappointed. Rebel Inc. presents a thoughtfully complex yet enjoyably challenging game that explores what, today, is an all-too-relevant subject almost universally ignored by other games involving strategy and warfare: the unavoidable yet critical transition state between war and peace. I don’t want to spoil the experience for those who have not yet played it, and so will explain the 4/5 star rating only generally: While there’s no practical way to “game” all of the variables in play during real-world efforts to stabilize war-torn regions around the globe, I’m hoping that with continued play and more complicated scenarios there will be a commensurate increase in the game’s sophistication - recognition, for example, that insurgency is sometimes driven by suffering and misunderstanding equivalent in magnitude to that experienced by indigenous populations. I’ll be back to amend my review accordingly after a few more weeks (or, maybe... months) of play (I would have bought it sooner but I’m ridiculously busy right now). At this point, however, Rebel Inc is by all appearances a worthy successor to its fluctuant, pustulous, and wildly entertaining predecessor..Version: 1.3.3
A nice idea.. not perfectReally enjoyed the premise of this game. These guys did a great job with Plague, Inc. and have got another good game going here. This time around is more like fighting off the infection rather than causing it. Really enjoyed the various mechanics of the campaign to improve the board, make my soldiers better, and reduce insurgents. Felt like there was a meaningful balance between trying to make improvements while limiting outside influences and corruption. There are elements that feel in place just to slow progress that I felt could be improved. It would be nice to have more focus on intelligence in the campaign as ways to reduce insurgency movements. This was my biggest complaint (and not that bad, more of just a gripe). If there was a way to predict and then counter insurgents movements to better my combat that would make the game better. Also, wish I had options for some sort of special operations or covert action force to go into an insurgent held area to somehow reduce their impact or remove their leadership to slow their progress when I’ve got main forces committed elsewhere. And it would be nice to select where I send airstrikes rather than just wherever insurgents are. This would give better control over potential civilian losses..Version: 1.0.2
Huge potentialThis is a great game and is definitely worth 2 dollars, I’d even pay 7 for this. This game could be better like if you could combine plague inc and this it would amazing. See you could create your own disease but instead of trying to infest the whole WOLRD you just try to do it to help stop the enemies, or whatever their called. Another thing they could add is a bigger map. I know they have different maps but I’d like it if each one was a bit bigger. And one last thing is a wish you could customize how many troops you could put in one area in stead of just one group. I was trying to fight off a group but my team was losing and I kept trying to put more troops in but I was only able to put in one. But overall it really is a great game. It’s addicting, I love the strategy yet not completely based off strategy which I also like. The graphics are amazing and perfectly my style, which is not trying to be crazy realistic but still pretty good. So great game would recommend it keep making games like this and I’ll keep buying them, and it could be even better though and that’s what I am exited about. Peace.Version: 1.1
Operation Enduring PlayabilityEspecially with the most recent turn of geopolitical events, this game blurs the lines between a fun, dynamic puzzle game and an engaging, poignant thriller. The graphics are beautiful, artfully simplistic and colorful, and harrowing as you recall the true horrors these colorful dots and little explosions represent. The tactical representation of the insurgents coming out of the mountains and either surrounding or being surrounded by the military force that maybe you appropriately funded and positioned, while a cute lil drone flies around overhead, can really stick with you and make you wonder what could have been done differently and where you are going to go from that moment. Some rounds will leave you feeling accomplished and wonder why people couldn’t have made better decisions concerning the subject this game is based off of. Other rounds will have you wondering at the futility of it all. In any case, no matter how well you do, or how magnificently you fumbled, losing all support and confidence of the international community, the towns, pastures, and provinces will continue for better or worse..Version: 1.8.0
Governing MasterpieceThis game is awesome! I expected it to just be a last minute cash grab by the developers, but I couldn’t be more wrong. I can tell they put their heart and soul in this game, just like they did Plague Inc. In fact, I could very well say that this is even better than its predecessor! Not only are you tasked with several different decisions to form your government at the start, but you are presented with timed actions that are sometimes minor, but in cases like dealing with the insurgency, the choice you make is crucial. As a governor you can really feel how much pressure is on you, as your actions are weighed heavily and can easily disrupt your once stable society. I can say without a doubt that this game is one of the most addictive and entertaining that I have ever played. I hope this review is able to help people who are debating whether or not to purchase this game, as well as the creators, who are working so hard to make their creation a fantastic experience. I want the developers, Ndemic Creations, to know that their work was certainly not in vain, as I am sure that I am not the only one who loves their work..Version: 1.4.3
Amazing game!As a HUGE Plague inc. fan this may just be bias, but Ndemic really put some work into this game. Don’t be discouraged by the fact the name of the game seems to basically be the creators wanting to get as many downloads as possible thanks to the large popularity and name recognition of the previous game. As soon as the game came out, I bought it. I think now that I have beat the game I can safely say this game is almost as good as Plague inc. I found this game very much more challenging than Plague inc. but not in a stressful way. The game is set where you are authorized to start a government initiative to stabilize all of the region by meeting all of the different areas needs based on its geographical and cultural lifestyles. The challenge is that you must do this while keeping the corruption levels low and dealing with insurgents with military engagement. The game has a very, very similar format and to an extent similar gameplay to Plauge inc. so it wasn’t too challenging for me to play at first. Though if you aren’t very knowledgeable/aren’t interested in economics, politics, and even statistics, then this isn’t the game for you..Version: 1.4.6
Suggestions about tank commanderIt’s too difficult to play mega brutal mode with tank commander. Every time I use tank commander, the first coalition tank unit dose not fight after arriving in an information-incomplete area, nor will it actively collect information like infantries do(or speed of collecting information is too slow), which makes it impossible to withstand the rebel attacks in early stages. If you focus on military, there will be problems in development. If you try to focus on both military and development, the coalition tank unit (which doesn’t even fight) in early stages will not be able to perform defenses and soon the rebels will takeover many areas. I used all the other characters to get through most map's mega brutal mode but the tank commander was unable to pass because of this problem of tanks. The uniqueness of the tank commander is that he can use high-intensity tanks to suppress the rebels at the early stages. If you want to add tanks to the game (which is a good thing), then remove the factors that causes the first tank unit to not fight is the best way (changing the order of training arms can also solve this but will cause the tank commander to lose his early advantage while all other roles can gain advantages in the later stages if used properly) Another suggestion is to set the second National Army tank unit to a normal unit (or add another National Army unit and reduce a coalition army unit), because the player can get additional tank unit by adding points but the lack of infantries will make it impossible to encircle enemies in the mountains. I believe most players will choose to suppress the rebels in remote areas inaccessible to tanks to control losses but if we can only rely on the infantries from the coalition army, they are likely to reach the garrison period during the encirclement and rebels will appear as soon as they withdraw..Version: 1.9.0
GOTY 2018Rebel Inc is a phenomenal game, for its exploration of the complexities and nuances of political decisions, management of infrastructure, all while conducting a civil war. There is a lot going on, but it never feels overwhelming thank to an intuitive interface, and an integrated tutorial system that highlights mechanics with well timed prompts during gameplay. On top of being a great game, Rebel Inc. allows the player a more involved and realistic insight into the realities faced by many government bodies in the world today. Many of these third world countries, especially those with war-devastated infrastructure find themselves in a tight position between first world powers with conflicting interests, the exploitation from first world industrial powers with interest in raw materials, and the crippling consequences that come with failed loans from the World Bank. I hope that, as the game expands, that it will delve further into these complex issues. With the additions made in the latest update, I see that beginning to happen already. Thank you James and the Ndemic Creations Team, you have produced a phenomenal gaming experience..Version: 1.1
Love this GameIf you like strategy and civilization rpg games, this is worth every penny. Games run about 30 minutes (faster if you lose), and I am engrossed for every last one of those minutes. It’s one of the few iPhone games I own where I am literally on the edge of my seat while playing. Gameplay involves balancing spending funds on policies that benefit civilians while guarding against inflation, corruption and constant pressure from insurgent militia. The game is partially strategic spending/planning and partially organizing soldiers on the regional map to quell insurgents. Poor choices, excessive corruption/inflation or becoming overrun by insurgents reduce your reputation. You win when the entire region is stabilized before your reputation hits zero. This is a difficult game and, at any moment, the region can spiral out of control. I love that I am challenged by the tradeoffs every minute I play and can tell the devs put a lot of thought into the gameplay. It feels very real! Bonus points for in game purchases that are also 100% unlock-able by completing goals in game..Version: 1.4.7
Different and in the very good wayI’ve played the heck out of plague inc. i’ve gotten the vast majority of the virus’s in that game, and finding out that this was made by the same devs peaked my interest. it’s very good so far, because instead of causing mass panic and infecting the earth, your trying to stabilize a country. you’ll start by rolling out projects from your HQ, and then contend with insurgents as you try to stabilize the region further with roads, medical supplies and what not with a upgrade system similar to plague inc. but be careful, the more upgrades you buy, the more you’ll inflate the upgrades prices, as well as there being a chance for your government to become corrupt. that, and you’ll be fending off various insurgent attacks and locating their camps with drones and bombers (but don’t get carried away, you might end up blowing up the people your trying to help). so in short, if you enjoyed plague inc, you’ll want to take a look at Rebel inc. (side note: you’ll need to use two shuffle word things for naming your operation. custom naming isn’t here yet i think).Version: 1.0.2
Lots of potentialThe amount of strategy required and the simulation that this game provides is insane but needs more to be able to live up to its predecessor, Plague Inc. We need more choices, maps, governors, balance out the insurgents by either reducing their overall strength or increase the power of our national army or coalition. The insurgents just pop up so quickly to the point where it is EXTREMELY OVERWHELMING. If we could recruit new armies quicker and more efficiently, it would balance it out more. Or just reduce how quickly our reputation goes down because of the insurgents. But I’ve lost count of how many times I lost because the insurgents just wipe the floor with my armies even after I upgrade them but the upgrades seem to make such little to no difference. I loved the game at first but it has too many balancing issues. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the game in the future and I hope it matches or becomes even better than Plague Inc one day. James and the team are great devs who always seem to listen to any feedback. I have a lot of faith in them to expand on this even more..Version: 1.0.2
Great GameNot as luck based as one might think. There is an optimal strategy that works every time and the advisors add more variety to kink things a little differently. For all those out there who think brutal is impossible or difficult. You’re wrong. You need to know how the game works. Once you figure out how to prevent stability loss it becomes a balancing act between military, corruption, and reputation gain luck. Believe me when I say it’s actually pretty consistently easy on every map. Coming from someone who beat all the maps on brutal to unlock all special governs, maps, and cheats legit, I struggled for a very long time just tying to beat the first map but once I finally did I realized what needed to be done and I steamrolled every other map with slight optimizations to the strategy for each governs pros and cons. The amount of times I screwed up the early game and dropped down to below 20 rep just barely keeping up with the loss is uncountable but I had the situation under complete control..Version: 1.4.2
Perfect strategy game for an iPhoneSo, it’s difficult to play full fledged strategy games on an iPhone (simply because of the limited screen size, and mind you I have a max). Which is why Rebel Inc. is perfect in terms of map size and game length. As to the difficulty, once you figured out how to play the game, it becomes relatively easy even in “brutal setting”. Strategy Advice: Pick banker (advisors: drill sergeant, elder - rest not important). Build out basic initiatives fast, get one road and district reps before the insurgency. Then roll out two coalition troops when insurgents come, get drones and air support and order a national unit (and keep rolling out the other three). Focus on anti-corruption measures (I always max it out mid game) and initiatives and eventually also get PR & media office. Once you have sufficient support, build out your military (options for garrisons, drones, etc.) while further expanding initiatives. Also, while engaging insurgents, keep the map in mind and keep them away from regions which are stable. Also, use bridges and other choke points to your advantage. Don’t worry if your reputation hits the low 20s, but do pay attention if periodically drops either due to corruption or instability). Anyhow, at this point I basically rinse and repeat my strategy and always beat the map. I kinda regret having paid for the warlord early in the game as I’m about to finish my last map in brutal having used the banker throughout (warlord is maybe a challenge?)..Version: 1.2.2
Lots of capabilitiesSo this game is still in its third major update and trust me, it’s harder then you think (especially if you are a Plague Inc. player because you would not have expected anything like this from the developers!) There should be a Very Easy mode for those who think they need enough practice before even winning easy. (it’s from a difficulty from 1-10 it’s about 4 to 5!) However, once you get how this game works then you might be able to beat normal MAYBE! I am about two-thirds of the way to beating every map on normal and was three-fifths of the way before the sixth map came in the third major update. Overall, once you get the hang of it, it’s a great game! And guess what, the only beta and alpha stuff only existed to test the game and so far I have yet to find a glitch in this game (however there are some glitches being fixed in every update or so but still, it’s a low glitch game and its quality is good!).Version: 1.3.0
Good, but *nearly* impossible to completeDon’t get me wrong, I love the devs, but this one needs some work. Brutal is impossibly hard to win on. I feel like it’s Mega Brutal from Plague Inc on steroids. The insurgency is too hard to fight, you can’t stabilize any areas before you run out of reputation, and that penalty is WAY too high. This is on the first map, by the way. I got all governors except the bonus by playing on normal on all maps, and I went back to the first to try brutal out. Perhaps my strategy needs some work, but I think this is a bit over the top. UPDATE: Since this review, I’ve gone back to the drawing board, and it is possible after many tries to win on Brutal. I’m only about three maps in, however. Took me about two weeks actively to figure out a strat. All in all, it is a wonderful game, and I do enjoy playing it to kill some time between classes, and while it could use some very fine polish, I believe it was worth the money for the hours of enjoyment I have had from it. Thank you Ndemic!.Version: 1.4.2
Great Value, Great Strategic GameplayI don’t do many reviews, but am happy to take a few moments to review this game. It’s a great value for its cost and can keep you trying at it for hours if you like. And since it’s not dependent on multiplayer and can be paused as you have interruptions, it’s actually well designed for mobile use. The graphics are clean and simple, it’s about the strategy not the battles after all. There are several maps (with more being added it seems over time) and several leaders that helps you get some decent replay value. My biggest complaint with this game is that at the highest difficulty it’s impossible to know (in my opinion) how to proceed. I had to look at strategies and videos online. Not a big deal but I’d prefer an in-game guide that shows me some numbers or strategies so I’d be more likely to figure it out myself. But overall, very happy with this purchase and the designer should be praised, absolutely..Version: 1.3.3
Combat is rough.I’ve grown quite fond of this game over time and I enjoy it quite a bit, although some of the aspects seem rough around the edges the game over all is challenging and fun. As for the combat, the insurgents don’t ever seem to take casualties, when they do it seems like a dice rolls and it’s inconsistent. The camps keep producing insurgent strength unless destroyed, this wouldn’t be a problem if you had a way of actually killing the insurgents with out surrounding them, even then, the insurgents sometimes seem to just charge through the surrounding areas that you have troops or garrisons in, the game teaches you in the tutorial that the only way to kill the insurgents is to surround them. Though this is a minor critique and a small issue with the game. This game is easily worth the money, though if you play games to have fun more than for the challenge you may want to look else where..Version: 1.4.6
Challenging & Well Thought Out GameThis game is very well put together and very strong. I have previously been a fan of their games but I believe I may have found a new favorite. This game forces you to think and strategize in a way that most mobile games do not. The layout and controls are intuitive and easy to learn with minimal time. The graphics are clear and easy to understand. There are options for every type of player from the serious competitor to the casual time passer. My biggest issue is that I need to figure out what strategies work and which ones do not! Its been a lot of trial and error but that only makes me want to try harder. I’m a hard core gamer (PS4, PC, & mobile) and I haven’t found any iOS games in the last several months that warranted playing but this has definitely changed my mind. I hope they will continue to create outstanding games for all to enjoy. Great work!.Version: 1.4.6
Good game, sometimes hard, and not having to pay for extra content. 10/10In the beginning for me, it was really difficult to get a good foothold, but after playing and failing a lot, I started to understand this game and it became easier. The insurgents can be quite annoying at sometimes when they just pop up out of nowhere, but they can be easily dealt with if you play smart and you have good positioning, all in all it is a fantastic game and I would heavily recommend it for anyone that likes strategy games with a challenge. This game does have content that you can pay for in the form of new characters to play and maps for you if you want to have some more possibilities while bringing a new challenge to the table. The maps and characters can be unlocked for free by completing missions on the harder difficulties so you’re not forced to pay a penny for the extra content..Version: 1.4.6
Challenging, in a great waySo far I have loved playing this, already put over 5 hours into this game. I played Plague Inc. for a long time and I can say this can and will be a better version of it, I love the extra depth they’ve added, whether it’s negotiating peace relations, interacting with your coalition and such. It’s also very challenging because the enemy can be very brutal even in normal mode, which can take a lot of time testing the abilities and understanding how to use your military with just the right timing. I personally feel like the enemies toughness could need a little lightening up but you don’t want to lose the challenge either. It can be very satisfying when you finally destroy the insurgents. Lastly, the tutorial and tips are very good, I would just ask that you help us understand the peace process a little better and how to end the game. Thank you for a great follow up! Keep up the work!.Version: 1.0.1
Difficult, Yet RewardingRebel Inc is undoubtedly more difficult than its predecessor, Plague Inc. There are more things to keep track of, and more things you must control to prevent your Reputation from reaching zero. However, the feeling you get when you beat a level is incredible. Few games offer such a wonderful strategic challenge. Can’t wait to see what they do with it in the future!.Version: 1.2.2
Fantastic simA great in depth simulation of counter insurgency mechanics and a bright adaptation of the pandemic simulator it draws its systems from. Great balance and fast paced decision making give this title a sense of urgency and sacrifice that you feel when your decisions push the limits. Highly recommended to anyone, especially those with an interest in the Afghan war and COIN operations..Version: 1.2.2
Complex yet wonderfulThis games balance between complexity and strategy is well tuned, allowing for great gaming experience that well have players constantly wanting to experiment and try new strategies to achieve success, 10/10 would recommend purchasing.Version: 1.3.3
Great conceptThe concept is amazing but the game needs a lot of reworks, more ways to gain reputation would be a start, and the fact that you can never destroy an insurgent group is extremely frustrating considering that you need a minimum of 3 units to do so and that’s given perfect conditions. In my game I end up needing around 5-6 units just to keep it under control because of the amount of enemy’s that spawn. Also reduce time to train national army, it takes to incredibly long that if i want to use them I have to buy them at the start and only get them near end game..Version: 1.2.2
Like Plague Inc. with PoliticsGreat game, well designed and feels like you are a real head if state making difficult but important decisions as you fight off insurgents and secure a better land for your people. Some of the biases in what policies arbitrarily give benefits and disadvantages shows a bit of a debatable partisanship in games design. (Ie. encouraging international involvement in government affairs gives only benefits, whereas restoring national autonomy once region is under control is seen as unpopular and decreases reputation... etc.) Nevertheless, very enjoyable and well thought out game with a tonne of potential. Highly recommend!.Version: 1.4.6
Good gameThis game needs you to think carefully for all your decisions. It makes you as a president who need to arrange everything from many aspects.Version: 1.2.1
Very funGreat game, very fun! Highly recommend.Version: 1.0.2
YesIt’s cool.Version: 1.17.1
Not badNice game play not to hard to learn.Version: 1.17.1
Too randomReally cool concept, but uses too much randomness to allow for proper strategy to form, feels more like whack-a-mole than organized counterinsurgency.Version: 1.17.1
It’s goodI buy this every couple of years.Version: 1.17.1
Geopolitics and COIN Warfare SimulatorHave you ever thought, “Man, those poor people in Afghanistan, they’re really getting screwed by both the States and the Taliban. I wish I could help them live long and prosper.”? If yes, then this game is for you. This game is not confirmed to be set in Afghanistan, but it seems most likely that it is indeed in Afghanistan. 🇦🇫❤️🇺🇳 ❌🇺🇸❌ ✅🇺🇳✅.Version: 1.17.1
Super FunReally fun, if you like Plague Inc, you love this..Version: 1.17.1
Great strategy gameI really enjoy this game, after learning the strategy i ended up really enjoying running different scenarios with different governors..Version: 1.17.1
Really goodThe game is really fun and hard. You need to think more strategically to win. Either you can win by peace. Or by eliminating the enemy.Version: 1.17.1
