Rebel + Plague Combo!As someone who played this game in beta, this game intelligently integrates the lore of Plague Inc and mechanics of Rebel Inc. If you played Rebel Inc, this game is quite familiar with the ‘zones’ and ‘soldier’ and ‘movement’. If you have not played Necroa Virus in Plague Inc, though you’ll miss on some references, it is not necessary to understand the core concepts of the game. To win: you have these tasks that you have to complete in linear order to achieve victory. Unlike past games, you don’t really have a lot of freedom to do what you want. Game just tells you to do this, you do this or else you get punished for wasting time. This is not as an open-world zombie survival game that you might think coming from the description from this game. Though the graphics of the game initially threw me off as too cartoonish, eventually it grew on me as this game is not trying to be realistic unlike PI or RI. Though I’m still not ecstatic, it’s just fine. Has lots of different things to build, decisions to make, etc. Some of them require you to have certain things unlocked, so not all options are available at all times which makes sense. One thing I would like is to see more visible changes happening throughout the settlements with the upgrades. Fun Followup on the Inc seriesThis is a lot better than the insurgent one they made. The zombies don’t flee to different tiles, and that’s really great. Great settlement builder/survival simPlague Inc was great and this is a follow up to that game. Here you’re helping survivors rebuild after the zombie virus from Plague Inc destroyed the world. You’re building settlements, tending to your survivors needs, exploring the map, finding new resources and of course, fending off the remaining zombies. Really enjoying it so far, $2 for the base game is a great price. Great base-building gameAbsolutely love the game, super fun, enjoying that I can stay on the same map to finish it off after I finish all the goals, the new "drought" mechanic is a great challenge, and the new "abandoned kingdom" expeditions are great, especially with the upgrade element. Well balanced game overall. Feedback on in-game messaging: the resource calculations are a bit opaque. At first I assumed it was an integer-based point buy system, where each building or service would cost [n] and predictably generate or consume [n]/month: now that I've been playing it a while, that is definitely not the case. Buildings seem to have (I'm guessing) a percent chance to generate a resource per tick, and services seem to be based in decimals with a percent modifier for consumption by population. There also seems to be something with ongoing costs (esp with wood for construction) where the consumption of a resource is increased temporarily past the initial stated cost, but I only just noticed that. I actually quite like this approach to resources, it adds a fun level of unpredictability and realism to gameplay, but it took me a while to figure out and it isn't addressed anywhere in the game itself: I expect the frustration of the systems not working they way they're implied to may occasionally drive away new players. It'd be helpful if the tutorial and in-game help dialogues mentioned that resources/consumption aren't linear, even if they didn't go into detail. Feedback on services balancing: the early game on each map is all pretty reasonable, but the late game gets extremely tricky with higher population numbers. I just had a game (on brutal tbf) where with 10pop I had over 100% morale, maxed out services, multiple builders, and banked stamina/resources -- and then I added the 11th population and with all the new services that required, even with all my prep, morale dropped to 5% before I could get enough new service buildings built. The new demand makes sense, I wouldn't want any changes there, but it'd be really nice if I had the option of building at least a couple more services before adding more population, like I can in the early game. But, yeah, that's about it! Again, great game, I've been really enjoying it (perfect lunch break entertainment lol), and I'm looking forward to "shadows of the past" and seeing what else gets added in the future..PteryxcatVersion: 1.2.2

After Inc. Negative Reviews

Expectations too high….?I guess maybe this is a rating based on expectations more than anything. Years and years after Plague inc (no really, it’s been calendars years!) I was really excited and immediately downloaded. It’s a bit like a very poorly balanced civilization game to sum it up in one sentence. But everything you do upsets the resource balance. A razors edge off the optimal causes an hour of gameplay to be ruined and you throw your device. And I’m playing on the easiest level. The scenario replay value is so bad you don’t even want to pick it up again for a week if you fail. It’s very out of character I’d say, Plague was so polished, so well thought out. You see the seeds of greatness here but even with a lot of polish…. I have doubts. No one enjoys struggling with every resource at once at all times. It’s just work. A rethink might be in order here. Update. After finishing the initial campaign with no clue and zero replay ability the $$ wall is thrust upon you. I feel stupider after finishing the first campaign too. All resources on a razors balance. It’s just dumb. Any mistake you make? A complete catastrophe. Ug. I don’t even know what I did right when I win? It’s like a thinking person’s kryptonite. Different and entertaining - wish the UI was a bit betterDefinitely reminiscent of plague inc. but with really fresh new ideas. Personally I find it a bit slow and harder to navigate. The resource bars on the side are nice indicators but having to navigate to them when the indicators aren’t there is not smooth. I definitely got my moneys worth but would love to see some quality of life updates that really bring it up to that 5th star. Dropped a star because I was thinking this wasn’t a cash grab, unfortunately they conceal the fact that you’re not getting a MAJORITY of the content until you complete the first few levels. Totally understand the price but this should be up front on the start screen. I shouldn’t play a game, really enjoy it, rate it highly, to be met with a screen telling me I’ve not actually paid for the full game but basically a 3rd of it. Suffers the same issues as Rebel IncPlays exactly like Rebel Inc. Suffers the same issues such as enemies popping up out of nowhere in your settlements but it’s worse because the game artificially limits your Fighters (soldiers) to only two, so imagine playing Rebel Inc but you only get TWO soldiers to help fight off all the rebels instead of 5. Also the game doesn’t make a lot of sense for its mechanics. You could be creating the best settlement in the world but because you didn’t build a toilet as soon as the game started your moral just utterly collapses and you lose. That’s right. Your settlement could be a sprawling utopia and you’re dominating the map but you lost because you forgot to build a toilet. Lowering review to one star. This game launched with only 7 levels unlocked. Even though you paid for the app already, you HAVE to fork up $60 once you complete the first 7 levels (about 2-3 hours of content) in order to continue playing the “DLC” levels. If the game launches with those levels already made, it’s not DLC, it’s you paywalling off the games content. I just don't see it...This game has rave reviews, but I just don't see it. It's an extremely simple and stripped down layout. There is barely any strategy required. The graphics aren't all that intense either. There's no real end goal or good explanation of some carry over benefits through playthroughs. Ultimately, a pop up appears, you click the pop up and do what it recommends, then the pop up disappears. You repeat this until specific goals are complete and you win. You don't easily access the locations to upgrade your civilization. You can, but there's no point. It's a stripped idle game with mild progression, and way less eye-catching animation or graphics. It was good at firstThe game was great at first. It takes you through all the mechanics as you progress through the levels, and ramps up difficulty as you go. The issue is the game locks you into narrow playstyles that become rng dependent on success. Did you follow the right build good, but your base will now be swarmed with an unusual amount of hordes. Build early fighters next time. Great now you won’t survive winter. It was really fun until bugs started hitting as well making challenging gameplay impossible. My moral shot into -2 million because a horde crippled my food production making the game unable to be salvaged. A money pit you have to pay $2 forThis game is setup to drive you to making absurdly expensive upgrades unless you want to end up in an extended grind mode. And you get to pay $2 for the privilege. There also seems no difference between casual and normal mode. You need more fighters to drive off the zombies, but you can’t create more fighters because you need to buy more technology first which requires quite a lot of food (for some reason). But you can’t hold on to food productions because you’re being overrun by zombies and don’t have enough fighters. It’s all designed to maneuver you into absurdly expensive $5 to $20 upgrades. Below average gameI lowered the star rating because for a a pay to play game this is poorly developed. You need to provide a summary of the pros/cons of each leader. I shouldnt have to click on scavenged materials they should be automatically collected. There should be a Scout party that can assess an area before exploring. Need a means to increase stamina production. Its always the same pace and doesn’t match the authority reduction thats contingent on impatience. It’s horribly unbalanced in regards to impatience. Deceiving priceThey trick you with the 2.99 price for base game… ALL expansions after the little tutorial campaign cost $10+! They should be upfront and at least include the first one on the cost. Pay to playI was incredibly disappointed to find out that I really paid for a demo of a game. The rest is blocked by a $10-$30 DLC upgrade. This is exactly the kinda thing that EA Games is made fun of for and here you doing the exact same but worse. I almost felt like I had to buy the DLCs after forking out the cash for the initial game but decided not to after I realized this entire game is a money grab.
