Great app but a bit glitchyIt is very easy to make a song out of Beatwave it gives you free starter packs which can give you a headstart in your music but every time I would play a music and record it it would glitch and when it’s halfway played it would replay it and keep replaying it I don’t know why it keeps doing that so I made another one just copied the one from my old one and it still did the same I tried to make a different piece it still did the same. It’s really hard to record a perfect song because at every 50’s of playing the song this glitch would happen continuously I even tried to play the music til it glitches then pressed record it still did the same at 50’s......FFS.....Version: 2.00.00

Genuinely One Of The Best Apps I’ve Ever UsedI’ll keep it short and sweet. This app is phenomenal and always has been from the very beginning. Although, since I’ve been using this app for the past 7 years straight almost every single day it hurts to feel this app will become abandoned. I know certain things can’t be recovered due to just lack of attention but this app is so good! The sound are very well pitched, it incredibly easy to pick up and learn on and make something within minutes, and it’s just all in all makes for a very, very unique music maker. The problem off top are… well I’m not saying these are easy fixes but here they are- -App Randomly Shutting Down -Random Sound Bursts When Interrupted With Phone Calls/Hanging Up/Or In The Middle of Usage -Pressing “Stop Recording” Causes App To Freeze -Pressing Project Occasionally Freezes App -Having App On Loop For Too Long Will Cause It To Glitch Out And Close Randomly -Attempting To Copy & Past Square On Grid Frequently Glitches Forcing App To Close And honestly that’s pretty much it. Not too much just mainly the app closing randomly. All I’m saying is the songs I’ve made on this app are timeless, sound so good and came out so well I couldn’t believe I could make those songs. Tbh y’all could go even further with app and add little by little and I’ll still support 100%. The songs I’ve made on here are so nostalgic to me & the noises, this app disappearing would honestly be so sad to see. Been a loyal fan for 7 yearsI have been using BeatWave since I was in middle school to create tracks and play around with music, and it’s now been 7 years since then. The app has always had a few glitch errors and crashes a couple times, so if you don’t exit and re-open to save your music every few minutes you run the risk of losing progress. But it has been super beginner friendly. I wish it was still updated regularly to add features like 3/4 tempo and pitch shifting to every instrument but I am still a loyal fan and continue to use the app to make everything from club bangers to ambient dreamscapes..XanxyyVersion: 2.06.00

Get around the subscription [UPDATE]So I haven’t used the app yet and will update after I do. Apparently no one knows how to get around the auto-renewal of the subscription and it’s turning people away from what is probably a good app so here it is. Settings>tap on your Apple ID>iTunes & App Store>Tap your Apple ID again>view Apple ID>subscriptions And there it is, go into Beatwave 3 and hit cancel. The free trial will expire after 7 days or whatever they’re offering. You’re welcome. Enjoy. P.S. I’m only giving the 1 star right now because I have to make this PSA review. The Devs should really make this easier or make a separate app that’s just the trial and load it with a ton of ads to make up for the $400 a year they’re tricking people into. P.P.S. Good but there’s a problemI really like this app and all the things you can do with it, but there are a few problems: - In a recent update the BW808 (and maybe some other drum sets) had some instruments switched. Previously my songs were fine, but where one instrument used to be, now there is another one. What The #%*??I have been a user of the OG Beatwave since it’s initial release way back in 2011. I purchased all the content available. I purchased a new iPad and when I reinstalled BW I can not restore anything? It seems to be trying to force me into repurchasing this new version that is exactly the same app. I was unable to install any of my purchases from within this version either. Seriously? I have been a part of the iOS music making community since it’s beginning and I have never hated on any developer. The OG app prompted me to contact support which I’ve been try to do with zero success as it looks as if they are purposely making it super difficult to get ahold of? I’m really frustrated. I spent money that I worked for on an app that I’m unable to use at my own expense so this new Beatwave team can create a subscription model for them to make money? So unethical and I feel like I’ve just been robbed. I’m taking this personally. The forums that I have been and am active on the daily in and since 2010 are gonna hear about all this. I’m super upset and it’s not about the money it’s the principle of it. Clearly you guys have non. How will you fix this for me personally? Needs some updatesSo, I like this app. However, my family is super poor right now and cannot afford to spend 60 dollars a year just for full access. Plus, that’s just way to much money to be asking from people. That seems like Beatwave is ripping people off instead of letting people create music and share it with others. I have an older iPad with the older version of Beatwave. I have way more features and instruments on there than there are available on the new version. I’d also like to point out that the charge per year was only 15 bucks or less on the older version. I want to be able to create music, as I do not have the access to real instruments due to my circumstances. To be honest? I think I like the other version better. All you did to this newer version was take away. That’s completely unfair. There are only about 3-5 options per instrument, or less. Ridiculous, I’m sorry to say. I know that apps need to make money, but with millions of users, I’m sure you can do that no problem with a much lower yearly fee. I feel that this app should be about making music, and being free. Not making money. This needs to change. It’s also pretty glitchy when I’m trying to record something. Extremely disappointed with how this app has downgradedI had bought the extra features for this app when it was a free app and you didn’t have to pay some annoying membership fee or subscription. Also I’m not even able to edit songs anymore. Whenever I try to add another sound track to my song the app always crashes making it impossible to get anywhere and make the music that I was so proud of what I’ve been able to make with this app. The original version was better! Original Beatwave was Great!This sold-out iteration of the app really screwed up something good. I used the versions developed under Collect3 all the time for a loooong time and had almost no issues, could tweak and modify any and all settings to no end with the small premium fee that I was happy to contribute to the developer. Now, you get ads every two minutes and need a *subscription* to fully use the entire program! One of the worst changes made here is that you can no longer choose your scale for the board; you’re stuck in the one they give you, B-C#-D-E-F#-G-A, which eliminates the possibility to create many many styles of music. Also, as you’d expect from a cash-grab like this, there is no real care put into the app beyond making it look fancy on the surface; this thing will crash on you and lose 30mins of your work, crash when trying to tweak the tiniest of variables, freeze up if you scroll too far in one direction, etc... Glitchy!I too have been an original user of this app from 2011! I too have experienced the repurchasing though that doesn’t bother me as much as the difference between the app. I have a high memory top of the line phone and I just repurchased Beatwave. For some reason this app crashed and won’t stay in any sort of tempo. Let your beat loop too many time and it staggers and glitches. Spend 45 minutes of your life making something cool only to have it crash and erase what you’ve been working on is atrocious. I do like the pattern function. But honestly, this app worked really well when it was simple. It was simple to just use the matrix and assign a key! It used to be super helpful in larger projects but now doesn’t reliably stay in tempo! An expensive shadow to Beatwave 2Beatwave two was probably the best iteration of this app. Pay a small fee, and in return, you get to play around with more tools. Controls were simple, and easy to use too. The new version is a bit more messy. The UI isn’t as newbie friendly as it once was, at least in my opinion. It’s also upsetting to lose all of my songs due to the huge transformations that the app went through. Which be fine, if I wasn’t walled to pay a weekly subscription to even attempt to remake them. I’d be alright with paying another one and done price for the new features, but 7.99 a week is just too much for the same features and instruments you got in the last Beatwave. DisappointingI’ve had Beatwave since the OG back in 2011. Beatwave 2 was when I really started getting into it and I even paid the $10-$12 one-time-payment for all of the instruments and I enjoyed it a lot. I noticed the other day that this Beatwave is now under a different developer and that the one I already have on my phone is no longer on the App Store. Curiously, I downloaded this app to see if it was any different but it was exactly the same just a different developer and they added a subscription paywall behind the sound packs. Used to be 5 starWhen the original Beatwave came out years ago it was amazing. Very user friendly and you could even create links for your projects to show your friends. At one point, I had broken my device with all my first precious projects, but I still was able to listen to them from the links I had saved. After a while, those links stopped working. I had emailed the developer and they never responded. Years later here I am, attempting to contact the developer via email and they still do not respond at all, yet in the responses on the reviews they tell everyone to email them. Why? You won’t respond anyway. The projects I made on the original app are some of the only things I’ve created in my life that I was actually proud of. Lately it has been weighing on me greatly that I can not even listen to them anymore. I still have all the old links but they just redirect to the new apps main page to download the app. I am very sad and my inspiration has been lost for years. Just no...I just recently got back into the iOS game. The last time I used this app was in 2016 and I was able to go in, make beats and experiment right from the get go. So much potentialI’ve used Beatwave for years and finally upgraded to the premium and love it MOSTLY but the new (and frequent) glitches when trying to record or when loading a scene with multiple instruments are rough. The timing will glitch and restart the scene or it will straight crash. It’s frustrating and it means I definitely don’t use it for anything live, but I trust they will fix this and make it the super reliable and super fun DAW it has been before. Beware user experience hijacked by developer. Bait-n-switch deceitful behavior!There are seemingly 2 Beatwave apps. The Beatwave app that I originally had on my device somehow got hijacked by a newer one. The new Beatwave App erased everything that I was doodling with before. This new Beatwave app is locked with ads (this would be fair if I opted in, I did not). The old and new app have identical icons identical name and look identical so there’s no way to differentiate which one is which and what exactly happened. All I know is the Beatwave app previously in my iPhone is no longer. I tried to reach out to the developer but the hyperlinks lead to broken webpages that I couldn’t reach out to tech-support. Forced outrageous subscriptionI couldn’t even make it past the opening screen. The all immediately asked for a one week trial that would convert to an $8/week subscription. That’s over $400 per year! This was recommended to me by my music teacher, and after showing him that screen he will stop recommending it to his students. I immediately deleted it fun my phone and downloaded Reason Compact instead, which offers a similar experience for free, with far more affordable in-app purchases. I don’t care if I can subscribe then unsubscribe to get the free version, this sort of behavior by a developer is unethical, and I won’t engage in App Store subscription games. What happened to my $10?I, like a lot of other users, used to use this app before they transitioned to a subscription based format. Crashes and doesn’t save progressWould be the best free beat making app out there, except it crashes way too much and every time you restart the app/exit for a while, you lose all of your progress. Also, I can’t close certain ads, which causes me to restart the app altogether. It’s very frustrating having to start all over again because of this. The app asks for too much.I can’t even try it out, and the first thing it asks for is 8 dollars for only a week. Maybe a month, but not a week. Won’t restore my purchasesI’ve had Beatwave since 2011. I have loved this app and told many of my musician friends to download it. I purchased the pro upgrade two years ago. I now download it to my new phone and it won’t restore my pro account, but instead wants to charge me 8 DOLLARS A WEEK, not just to use the pro edition, which I’ve already paid for, but to use it at all. Worse than the firstSo I’ve had beatwave for a while and enjoyed it. Used to be great, now expensive money grabberI loved this all and created some amazing songs with the vast library of instruments...Then after not using it for some time, I see they have taken away a large number of instruments leaving us with a stupidly small number of choices. Depressing experience. Don’t spend money on this husk.On latest ios version at least, have crashed twice, with no autosave functionality. This is on a free trial mind you, which is supposed to simulate a full purchase. Needless to say i will not be continuing with a monthly subscription. I just tried this app again after my disappointment with the new version many years ago. Foolishly, i thought i could have a similar experience with this app as i did during my childhood. When I launched initially, it almost felt great. I was almost having fun, even within the (extremely) limited production options, only to have my progress interrupted (again, even while on the free trial) by ads. Advertisements. In a mobile digital audio workspace. Do you understand how antithetical it is? To subject your user to be bombarded by ads every 5 minutes that disrupt the creative process and also crash the application? Easily lost an hour of progress by crashing out of the app during advertisements three separate times. I forgot the melody that i was working on was as a result of this. To the Dev: Where is the focus? Is it on making a competent DAW? Or just a fun app for hobbyists / for entertainment? because a competent app would have a standalone price, and a casual app would function. and so far, this iteration of Beatwave does neither. Barebones vst’s / soundbanks. Lack of customization / synth modulation. Piano roll constricted to specific keys only. Terrible fx quality. Low fidelity bitrate exporting. And of course, crashes and inane ad bombing. My last review also, somehow went missing or got deleted. Maybe because I complained about how my prior micro-transactions / full purchase of the older version getting completely wiped away? along with all of my older tracks too. I’ve also seen the dev replying to other people telling them to email for compensation for lost purchases. Yet it’s interesting because I never got such a response when I made my review years ago. What a damn shame. This app used to be so special to me. At the very least, Dev (devs), as a form of recompense you could actually leave this review up for once instead of hiding / deleting it, because that just reads like you’re hoping to scam people into paying for a lesser FL mobile. Deleted my daughter’s workI’ve never had a problem on iPhone. I gave my iPad to my daughter and she created this amazing song. I wasn’t present but she realized her music was gone. Used to be goodI used to love this app so much. I had HUNDREDS of songs that I made on here. It was great for beginners, very user friendly, and easy to use. I have downloaded this game for every phone I’ve had ever since 8th grade (about 10 years ago) and every time I’ve re- downloaded it they’ve made changes that made the game better, but ITS ALWAYS BEEN FREE and NEVER had ad walls. I can’t describe how disappointed I was when I downloaded it this time around. Yes it’s free but they only give you about 6 free sounds to work with, and they just dangle the rest of the sounds in front of your nose, but if you want the rest of them you have to pay $12 A MONTH! What a joke! No one here downloaded your app because they’re kicking off their career in producing. So please don’t take yourselves so seriously. Worst of all it’s one of those ad walls where if you don’t press the tiny “x” button in the corner juuust right it’ll take you straight to the App Store! Sound glitch and extra costsWhile trying to use the app, all sound would stop for no reason. Soon after, the app would crash. I only had the app about 10 minutes before I unsubscribed and deleted.
