Serendipitous find!I absolutely adore this app! It is my prized possession as of late! I was on the search a few months back for switches to be a more ethical and mindful reader. A reader I trust on booktok mentioned this app. The cute name and logo caught my eye so I decided to give it a try (and also wanted to help support a growing brown owned app)! Words cannot describe how much I love how organized and sleek the layout and user experience as a whole is. I love how the feed, book club, explore, and your profile are on separate sections so the app does not look cluttered nor overwhelming. I love we’re also able to filter the feed between “for you” and “following”. Speaking of filtering, I am so happy with how easily to tailor the notifications are. The bookclubs section and just ability to join bookclubs is my little reader heart’s dream come true. Again I cannot stress how well organized the layout is with different threads for chapters and ability to communicate with one another. As others have mentioned, the data stats are divine!! The 2024 wrapped is so insightful and so freaking cute!! Not to add, their is a cute holiday theme that gives you a holiday category! I also love how you’re able to read with your bookclub or on your own - and the app not only tracks your progress but also updates your daily tracker for you! My only note would be I wish our lists were organized alphabetically (but that might just be a me thing). So grateful for this app like again words can’t describe how happy I am to finally have an app like this. Thank you developers and team!!.Version: 201
Amazing! But Could Be More IntuitiveI love this app! Of all the different book review and journaling apps, it’s my favorite. I only wish there were more ways to customize the content in your feed. I love seeing book clubs recommended, even though I don’t use them, and I love the random users’ posts that allow me to see others’ opinions about how/where they read, share what we’re reading, who we’re reading with (humans and pets alike), etc. But I hate hate hate! that my only option to remove content I’m not a fan of is to either mute all the content associated with certain books or mute users themselves. For example, I do NOT want to see bad reviews of books I left great reviews of. I understand why the algorithm puts those on my feed, and I do appreciate seeing different opinions, but it’s simply not something I want to use fable for. I’m in an irl book club, and imo that’s a much better way to discuss differing opinions than seeing a random stranger trash a book I dearly love. My only options when this happens are to either mute the user themselves, which I think would be unnecessary since their opinions are valid, or I’d have to mute all content associated with that book, which I obviously don’t want to do with a book I enjoyed. Some apps have “suggest less like this” buttons, and I’d love it if Fable adopted something like that! Or even had an option in settings that allows us to toggle bad reviews of books we’ve read or rated positively. Overall, the app is quite lovely, and I really enjoy that it feels more like social media than Goodreads or Storygraph, and I can’t wait to see how the app grows and continues to get better! <3.Version: 246
Love the app!I absolutely adore the app!! One of my favorite things about it is being able to see all of your stats, especially having the ability to see what books you read in what months and the reader summary. Every single time I put a book in the Finished List I find myself looking forward to what my Reader Summary is going to update to say, a few I’ve even laughed out loud too. But I do want to suggest a rereading option on the reading status, that lets me track my progress when I set it to Currently reading as well as keeping it in my Finished List, so that way it shows up however many times I read it on the Finished # of books so far this year. Now this doesn’t need to count towards my reading goal since it’s not a new book, but it would be nice if it appeared as many times as I reread it in that year. Other than that idea I just had (as I am currently rereading a book and went to log it so it would count towards my streak, but realized it took it out of my finished list) it’s a lovely app that I’ve discovered thanks to a friend mentioning it, in which case I’ve now actually started recommending it to other people and would 10/10 recommend it to you!!.Version: 194
As an avid readerAs an avid reader who has been on Goodreads for 10+ years, I was really excited about Fable. It is beautiful and a gorgeous app overall however it has a few major pitfalls that are ultimately making me go back to Goodreads (and trust me I KNOW Goodreads isn’t the ideal app and has many issues). 1. Fable does not show when a friend has finished a book. Is this a setting that I’m missing? I can see anytime my friends add to “want to read” or “did not finish” but I can’t see when they’ve added to “read?” 2. When viewing a book’s page I cannot see that a friend has reviewed or even read the book. These two points are very basic things that Goodreads accomplishes quite well. It is the whole point (to me) of a social media app for reading. I want to easily see what a friend is currently reading and when they’ve finished it and what they thought of it. If I’m checking out a new book I would love to know if it’s on a friends “want to read” or “read” list so I can chat about it with them afterwards or let them know I loved it and they should read it asap. 3. Fable glitches for me just as much as Goodreads does. I’ve had to close and restart the app many times specifically when I’m using the explore page. 4. I don’t like the design of seeing all the books in someone’s list when they’ve just added 1 book to it. Goodreads makes every update a singular focus on the 1 book and I prefer this..Version: 195.1
My favorite new social media app, but needs some tweaking!I love this app! I use it every day. I have some suggestions for future updates to make it more user friendly. -the ability to tag more than one book and add more than one picture -the ability to create polls and reviews right from the post tab -the ability to add updates from the post tab, like starting a new book, progress on a book, and finishing a book -being able to see follower/following count from your personal page -connecting Fable to Goodreads and Kindle for automatic updates rather than manually syncing the updates!! This is a big one for me -the way lists are set up as they currently are feels a bit clunky to me. Having to take a book off my “currently reading” list and add it to my “read” list even after I’ve marked the book as finished is a bit tedious. I would love for books to automatically be moved from “currently reading” to “read” after the book has been finished. -I don’t know if it’s just me but there is a glitch where the Like and Comment count on my posts is never the same. I get notifications that I’ve received likes on a post and when I go to look at the post, it will show 0 likes. - posts of quotes with spoiler warnings on them are very hard to read. The color of the background and text are too similar and I can’t read what book the spoiler is about -lastly, the format of the digital books in app is weird. Instead of taking up the whole page the margin is moved very far to the right. This deters me from buying and reading books in the app, and I would love to because adding notes and reactions and highlights for other people in the app to see is such a cool idea. Thanks for reading and I look forward to watching this app grow!.Version: 141
Fell in Love!I adore this app! I have Goodreads and I use Letterboxd quite often. I’ve always found the UI of Goodreads to feel outdated and a bit drab. This app is so much fun to use. Tracking your progress daily is fun and feels rewarding. The clubs you can join to read books along with others is such a unique feature. Most of the classics are free and the app gives you a $5 credit when joining that can be stacked by having others joining your clubs (they also get $5). I started a club to read a big fantasy series and found it so much fun to set up with how easy it was to use and have had friends already join and download the E-Book through the app as they all earned a $5 credit by joining and the book on fable was less than $5! Download this app and give it a try it truly is so much fun to use. I will say, it’s nice to also speak on and talk about the tv shows you’re watching with others but I fell they could show that part of the app some more love. Tracking progress of a show would be an easy addition to make it feel more like an app that is for books AND tv and not mainly focused on books. Tracking your finished series is another great addition..Version: 206
Really liking it, needs a few changesThis app is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. It feels the way I wish Goodreads would be if Goodreads wasn’t so outdated. I love how interactive it is, I love the stats and how the buddy reading clubs are set up. What I don’t love is some of the limitations. There is a character limit on reviews which is quite low IMO. Also, I haven’t found a way to update reading days so if you don’t go into the app and click that you have read, you can’t fix that. It’s also a bit confusing on how to click to update progress. For example if I click on the book cover I get a different menu than if I clicked on the three dots to the right of the book. And I have to be on a certain page to update my progress…it’s just confusing and a little inconsistent. I also really really hate how none of my reading dates from Goodreads transferred. My books transferred but not the dates I started them and completed them which is so infuriating. It’s a good app and I’ll keep using it…still on the search for that perfect book app though…not sure it exists :/.Version: 174
LoveUpdate: whatever update recently happened has made it where you cannot scroll through previous discussions on clubs despite it saying they should ALWAYS be accessible. It glitches and continuously cuts off and shortens the list randomly. Please fix it. It is incredibly annoying. I recently had my vision fixed and have been reading a lot lately. I love how I can use this app to find books and keep track of them; as well as finding clubs and meeting people to chat with. I also like that it seems like the app wants to branch out into a social media platform for story lovers of all kind with the addition of tv series. It would be great if it added other styles of storytelling as well such as video games and even song lyrics. It can be frustrating in communities that focus on those things when a lot of people could care less about the amazing stories told through songs and videogames and only care about the music and gameplay. It would be awesome to have a community with like-minded people who specifically love and appreciate the characters, world building, and stories told throughout these other unique mediums above all else, too. :).Version: 268
Pages and Dates Read ProblemsI really like this app! It’s a great alternative to Goodreads, it’s beautiful, and I love their new quiz-y/who am I type features. However, I’m a stats person and I’ve been getting really frustrated with some things. I can’t change the start date of a book while I’m currently reading it, is the first thing. So I also imported my books from Goodreads, so I wonder if this is where the problem lies, but I have been having to go through all my finished books and manually put in the page numbers and the full start and end dates. Which, on its own, doesn’t bother me because again, stats fiend so I would enjoy the monotony. However, multiple times, it’s reset all my progress. The pages numbers, the dates, titles I’ve done over and over. It feels really frustrating and I don’t really know what to do about it. I do feel like the ability to edit the books and my details with it is really difficult. Like either it’s buggy, or it resets, or I can’t even access the details. Unfortunately, while I do love the app in other ways, this issue kind of defeats my reading tracking purposes so. For now, I’ll probably go back to Goodreads until this gets fixed or I know a work around..Version: 236
ImmersiveI finished reading this book a few days ago, and I am still thinking about the world and the characters. The symbolism is tastefully done, couched in a multi generational family saga. My father is from Kerala, and my mother is from Tamil Nadu, So the italicized words were all my familiar, familial languages. I found the details in the story to be consistent with the oral history that I have gotten about my own family, and the author has managed to still keep the core of the story universal, probably contributing to its wide appeal. This is also a story about the history of medicine, and those details are also skillfully woven into the fabric of the narrative. My attention and schedule are both challenged with reading for any length of time, and the fact that I finished a 700+ page book a in a good clip speaks to the readability and intelligence of the narrative. If you choose to read this book, be prepared to flow with the story, as if you are floating down a stream observing and thinking about everything that floats past you..Version: 177.1
Always room for improvement!I like this app! It’s kind of like good reads but you can also track tv shows and join clubs to read books alongside others. I mainly read physical books so I don’t use the digital book feature too much but for the clubs it’s kind of a necessity to get the best experience. I wish you could track the days you read when you forget to go into the app on that specific day. If you don’t go into the app everyday to mark that you read a book, it won’t count and you can’t change it. I also don’t like that you can’t just add in books that aren’t on the app. I use another app that allows me to scan the barcode of the physical book I’m reading and it pops up immediately. If Fable doesn’t have the book I’m reading, it doesn’t count towards my reading goal which is annoying. I also would love if you could click on the months and look over the books you read each month along with any reviews that were left with them. Every app has room for improvement and it would be great if these features could be included, other than those issues, I like it!.Version: 200.2
This is PerfectI switched from Goodreads to Fable and have no regrets. The UI and newer features are just so much better! This feels more like a community of book lovers than any other book app I have seen. I love all the data it stores and how it learns your preferences over time to recommend new books. I can organize my book shelves with more freedom, and see my monthly reads, genres, authors, and more. I also love the “social feed” since it shows me what other people are reviewing or quoting about the books I have on my lists. It is perfect for an introvert like me, because you don’t have any pressure to gain followers or follow other people. You can see what other community members say based on the books you have on the lists you create. It’s the perfect balance! I feel a part of the community without having the politics and stress of “followers”. Of course, there is the option to follow members and send direct messages, if you are looking for a more social use for this app too!.Version: 202
A must have for readersI’ve been a consistent reader the last year or two and go through random spurts of reading a lot and then not reading at all for months. Since downloading fable the books I keep collecting are finally getting used. I read 6 books in the month of having this app as it keeps it all organized in reading currently want to read didn’t finish and goes into depth about the type of reader you are which I love. I think what’s helped me read the most is it has a tracker of how often you read and streaks. It also lets you know the percentage of how far you are in your book which keeps me motivated to finish when I see the percentage. I love that you can showcase your favorite book and connect with like readers to find your next possible read and suggestions. you’re also able to join virtual book clubs and talk to people who are all reading the same book. I can’t say enough good things about this app..Version: 232
Fable has completely transformed my reading life.At the beginning of this year, when I committed to reading seriously (and I’m already 12 books in!), I knew I needed more than just a tracker. I needed a space. A place where I could document what I’m reading, see my progress, analyze my reading patterns, and—most importantly—actually talk about books with other people. I’m a very communicative person, and reading without discussion felt empty. Fable was the solution. I tried Goodreads. I tried Bookmory. I explored other apps. None of them compare to the social experience inside Fable. The feed feels alive. The conversations feel intentional. The book clubs are structured, organized, and genuinely interactive. I can host digital book clubs, track milestones, break books into daily reading goals, and have real-time discussions with my community. I love being able to: • Track what I’m currently reading and my progress • See detailed reading stats (authors read, genres, pace, history) • Use the reading calendar • Join and host book clubs • Engage in thoughtful discussions per chapter • Discover new books through curated recommendations • Reflect on books in a more intentional way It’s not just a tracking app — it’s a reading ecosystem. Fable made reading feel communal, structured, and inspiring. It gave me the social layer I was craving and turned my personal reading goal into a shared experience. If you’re serious about reading and you want meaningful discussion, this app is unmatched. Absolutely five stars..Version: 256
Please bring back the unimpressed emotion option for rating booksI love this app so much. It gives you personalized stats and you can pick which of the current books you’re reading you consumed for the day. It also has a much more complex community structure, where you can join clubs, see what you’re friends post, and there’s a for you page too, which is great for finding new friends. I love their rating system, since you can rate different aspects of the book. Unfortunately they removed the “😐unimpressed” option, which was great for books that were fine but I didn’t really enjoy my time with them. The closest options they added are “🫠what did I just read” or “😵💫confused”. Neither of which convey what “unimpressed” does. This isn’t awful, I just wish they didn’t get rid of it, but I love that they added more options. I would 100% recommend Fable for book tracking, whether or not you care about the amazing community, the practical aspects of it are the best ones I’ve seen..Version: 209
First truly “high quality” book tracker.I’ve tried many “book tracker” apps but Fable by far has the most care and attention put into it. You can feel that the team behind it are not simply interested in collecting your data or making a profit off you, they actually put genuine effort into delivering a high quality app that allows you to track your books and progress, but also promotes community, conversation, and connection. Yes there are quite a few features that are locked behind a premium subscription “paywall” so to speak, but I’ve tried both the free and paid versions of this app, and while the paid subscription is definitely a step up and offers you much more insight to your charts and analytics, the free version isn’t a downgrade in quality at all honestly, and an average user would be just fine using the free version without noticing a lack of attention or detail..Version: 272
A favorite appI’m picky with all of my social media. I don’t really want to doomscroll (bc I rather read lol) and I want my time online to be worth it. And this app is worth my time-and yours. I love the app itself (I believe it has a very seamless design and I haven’t experienced any issues myself, and I like that it’s easy to navigate and has many features). It exciting watching myself almost reach my reading challenge, and to get to gush about books with people who get it! I haven’t joined a book club just yet (I’m a mood reader so I jump from book to book, but I want to try a club sometime soon). It’s so cool that it’s even an option to have book clubs!! It’s honestly the best reading social media app and reading tracker app I’ve ever used. There’s no pressure on people’s popularity on the app or if you’re getting enough interaction. People are just vibing and enjoying themselves there. I highly recommend!!.Version: 159
Love the idea but….I love the idea of this! And I was excited for this app! But when I was searching up books like, a court of thorn and roses series by Sarah j. Maas, blood and ash series from Sarah j. Maas and along with Jennifer l. Armentrout., crescent city series from Sarah j. Maas. Thorn of glass series from Sarah j. Maas. Flesh and fire series from Jennifer l. Armentrout. If we could some how add this to the app that would be great. Or have a way of adding on book that have not been added or new books coming out! I again can’t tell you how much I love the idea of this app. FINALLY I’m not alone reading. There’s people out there that I can connect with who reads the same books as me. But the only thing is that the books I love and cherish is not on the app. Therefore I can’t discuss it with others and share my excitement and opinions on these amazing books! I want to be able to read these books with someone who is just as interested as I am and shares the same love for them as I do. But for that to begin the book needs to be on the app. Thank you for your time and patience..Version: 101
Absolutely addictingI started using the app back in 2024, got overwhelmed and left but came about a year later and actually applied myself into learning everything and organizing things how I wanted. I can make as many collections as I want, post questions or funny quotes, have a reading streak, track the progress, and the best part, see other peoples posts and reviews on books I’ve read or are interested in. The community is so active and helpful for all the book questions and concerns I have, and it’s absolutely addicting to scroll through all the posts made. Not only that but I can also switch between public feed and friends feed. This app is amazing and gives me more motivation to read, though many things improvements can always be made. Speaking of, they actually listen to their users..Version: 250
Major GlitchesI really enjoy the app but there have been several glitches lately and no update to serve as a solution to the glitches. Some examples include my want to read list showing up 2 or 3 times when it’s supposed to show up once and the other list not showing up when I add books to it. This has happened multiple times and for multiple custom lists. The app has also gotten to where even if I have wifi connected it sometimes won’t load. It’s happened before and it gets frustrating when I’m trying to add something etc. The most recent time it happened it wouldn’t even load the authors I was typing in. Also books not counting as completely read when I have clearly put in all the pages I’ve read. For example, if I put 18/18 pages read of the book it sometimes counts however many it wants and not the entire book when I have finished it..Version: 248
Giving fable one more chanceI loved using fable for buddy reading. it’s the best app i’ve found by far that keeps people from spoiling things by separating chats by chapters and sections. however when i found out they use generative AI—something that’s destroying the planet and destroys human creativity—i was devastated and immediately deleted the app. my decision was made even more concrete when i saw the horrifying controversy that disrupted the safety of bipoc users resulting from their poor judgment in generative AI use. now that i’ve found out they’ve removed generative AI from the app, i’ve redownloaded the app. i can only hope that they don’t betray the trust of their userbase again by sneaking generative AI back into our reading experiences; i would consider such an act as a stance that they don’t care about us and only care about cheap shortcuts vs longterm ramifications. we loved fable before genAI, we will love it without it. you don’t need genAI to be a good platform..Version: 200.2
Love it but could use a couple enhancementsI absolutely love this app! It’s very handy for keeping your reading lists straight, and I love that the club feature means that you don’t all have to read at the same rate or find a night when everyone is available to discuss the book. The only reasons I didn’t give 5 stars is because I think that the ability to create collaborative booklists (maybe as a part of the clubs feature) is sorely needed. It would also be really handy to be able to export your lists as an excel/google sheet to send to people who want to know what to get you for a gift, or to be able to enter into a random number generator to choose your/your club’s next read. Also those of us with big TBR lists would benefit from filter and search options within lists. All in all though, I think this app is great, and it’s really helped me keep up with my reading habit since I started using it!.Version: 195.1
TrackingThere are two things I enjoy about the app more than GR. The reading challenge being more graphs and charts and very visual. But also that I can track my progress by inputting the number of pages of the book edition that I’m ready. I stopped tracking my pages on GR because of that. However, sometimes I read late - to the point where I’m falling asleep reading and there should be a grace period to select that you read the day before. As someone who enjoys tracking and checking things off, it feels chore-y to have to make sure I go into the app daily. The two negatives, and I’m probably on my own is that it’s a bit too social for me. There should be an option to have a less social newsfeed. See updates of friends and people you’re following but that’s it. Also, the TV show tracking is lacking. It should be more automated based on episodes and what’s currently airing. I use another app for TV shows and it would’ve been nice to just consolidate here..Version: 180
Favorite Social Media AppI absolutely love the style and function of this app. It’s great if you just want to track what you’re reading or build a TBR. It’s great for finding book clubs to find people who are reading the same things as you, or if you want exposure to genres you wouldn’t normally pick up on your own. It’s great for connecting with other readers. I joined in January of this year and the app has grown rapidly since I’ve joined. It’s quickly become my favorite social media app, particularly because there’s little to no negativity. People generally mind their own and don’t react to things that they dont care for or identify with. It’s just an incredibly positive interactive experience. Only negative thing I can say about it is that some days I spend more time scrolling than reading - it’s definitely addictive and my TBR has GROWN! 😂 Love it!.Version: 181
Mostly good!I’ve been using goodreads for such a long time that I’ve been reluctant to switch. Fable made it easy to import my goodreads data, so thank you for that! Unfortunately, a few features I’ve gotten very attached to are not there (or I haven’t found them yet). 1) searching w the camera so you don’t have to type everything out or look for the correct editions. 2) having different editions listed under the same title so you don’t have to scroll through pages of different titles that are really the same. Because of the edition nonsense I list several thousand pages of progress on a series that had been entered in goodreads as one book and fable thinks I’m reading the first one only. 3) updating progress is a mess! I like to keep track of where I am and fable just wants to know if I read. 4) please make a dark mode! 5) it’s really cute and I love the book club feature..Version: 193
Goodreads’ cooler sisterI’ve been really enjoying this app! The design is beautiful, I love the charts and the book club/tv club features, and even though I’m an AI-hater, I enjoy the feature that chooses and presents a random book from my expansive TBR, as well as the one that helps you find a book based on your vague descriptions. It’s amazing to be able to give half stars, and I really like the emoji descriptions too. Unfortunately it can be a little clunky - I find the process of updating your progress to be a bit confusing (I want there to be an option on the book page and keep going there lol) and I find it frustrating to have to find the number of total pages rather than it autofilling. I wish you could leave reviews or updates for specific seasons of TV. Otherwise I’m very happy with the app and have been recommending it to all my friends and family! A lovely alternative to goodreads..Version: 181
Love Fable!!I knows there’s a bit of controversy going on right now but I wanted to bring a little positive and just share my love for this app. I’ve been a diehard GR user forever and I’ve tried other apps but I think because Fable is built almost like a social media app but for books (tv shows too!) I’ve really fallen in love with it. I loved the wrap up and I do hope it’s brought back as well as the little reader summaries and Shelfie. These are just some of the features I truly enjoyed. I’ll keep using and supporting Fable! The only thing I wish is that book covers could be updated. Not sure if this is done by authors or the app creators or if users upload them but it would be nice to be able to add the actual books covers as some seem to be missing or aren’t there pre book release or after!.Version: 200.2
Almost better than goodreadsI initially got this app because in goodreads the social aspect is ATROCIOUS. I love that fable is like social media for books! I love, love, love clubs! I’m in several book clubs with family and friends and we use fable and love looking at each other comments for every chapter! I have three main issues with Fable that keeps me from deleting goodreads though. 1. Why can’t I see other books in the series? Or go to an authors page and see all their books? I’m constantly having to google books 2,3 or 4 in the series and typing in that name to fable to find it. In goodreads I can click on book one and on the bottom see all the books in the series. I also try going to the authors page to see all their books. And fable doesn’t have them all listed. Some are missing. Which is really frustrating because on goodreads their full collection is listed. 2. Why is page count not always included in the “about book” section?? It drives me crazy. I have to go to romanceio or goodreads to see how many pages I’m committing to. Some books have page counts and others don’t? It’s confusing. 3. I love reading kindle unlimited, so on goodreads when I finish a book there’s a simple toggle to share any highlights I’ve saved of that book on my kindle. On fable they make you buy the book to do that. No, I already have it on kindle unlimited. So now I’m stuck literally typing out any highlights I want to share. Which I don’t do because it’s so easy on goodreads. Anyway those are my gripes. And the 1st one is my biggest reason for not switching. The app needs some QOL that’s not related to socials. But as far as socials go it’s a perfect app..Version: 246
Love this but could be betterI love this app and prefer it over Goodreads. There are a couple things that Goodreads has that I wish fable also supported. I would like to be to see the authors full catalogue when I click their name instead of the 6 they show. I also wish you could click on a book in a series and be able to click the series to see all of the books in that one series. This would make searching for books easier. I also come across quite a few bugs. The app is constantly freezing and closing itself. I contacted their support for an issue I was having with making posts. I would try and add a quote and the app would freeze and not upload it. I would have to make the post, upload it without the quote, edit the post and add the quote and re-upload. Support was not helpful. They wanted screen recordings and when I sent them I was told it wasn’t good enough..Version: 229
After Using the AppSocial Platform 5⭐️ Getting a book added 2⭐️ you have to send in a form which doesn’t get the book added so then you have to send an email. If you just skip the form and send the email, they take the time to send you an email telling you to fill out the form. Then you fill out the form and after 3 days, still no book so you have to send an email again Syncing Goodreads: 1⭐️ all kinds of glitches including but not limited to read dates disappearing, book found read off, lists incomplete. And then you go back in and edit all the stuff that got screwed up and next download all screwed up again. I stopped using the sync function completely Reading Dates: 2⭐️ so they recently added a prompt where you can add reading dates but you have to manually enter them even though you tell the app when you start a book and when you finish it. So if you’re not journaling your reading, how are you supposed to remember when you started the read. This app is not new. They need to work through their bugs to make a better experience. I think the high ratings are for the social aspect and the amazing community of users. Functionality is a whole different can of worms..Version: 185
I love itI love this app so much! I love how clean and modern this looks. I love how personal you can make it. I enjoy that you can make reviews as long as you want. The fact that this is social media along side with it but its just about books is great. I love reading so much it has always been my favorite hobby my favorite escape and this app is the perfect place for me to track my reading, make lists, reviews, etc. I know there is a book club section if thats something you want to do. I have not done it its not something im really into but I like that they have it. I did not use goodreads but you can transfer your reviews to this app. The people who work for this app are active and personal on the app as well. I feel like it is such a nice and safe space to come to for a reader.Version: 206
Good, But Could Be BetterI like the layout of the app. It looks nice and is user-friendly. I do think it would be nice to have more info on the books, like the original publishing date and the page count. When I look at the publishing date that is on the book info page, I’m always thinking “that’s definitely not right,” and I always find myself going to StoryGraph to check those things. Another nice thing that it could have is the option to choose whether you read the book, or listened to the audiobook, which StoryGraph also has. I do like the social element of this app. It’s nice to have book clubs (which I haven’t tried yet) and posts about the books you are reading by random people. I’m pretty new to the app and just now getting into reading, so I’m having trouble finding new friends, though..Version: 251
Wow, this book tracking app is seriously the best I’ve ever used! You can also track what you watch, not just books! It’s modern and doesn't feel outdated like every other book tracking app out there. It’s literally amazing! I’m never going back as long as they keep up with the times. Let me tell you, this is almost everything I've been wanting from all the other book tracking apps for so long it's not even funny. It doesn’t feel like you’re completely left out when you don’t pay for the additional features that I’m certain would make this book tracking app even more exciting to use and feel like everything! I’m definitely going to pay for the all-inclusive version when I’m able..Version: 238.1
Great, But Lacking Some FeaturesFantastic UI, but needs a few things: 1) I definitely should be able to see my star ratings and edit them. I don’t know if my app is glitching, but I can’t find a way to do this anywhere. 2) Show if friends have read or rated a book when I’m on the book’s page. This seems critical for a social reading app. 3) Feed updates with friend’s reading progress. I have no idea what my friends are reading!! 4) Probably make the page tracking part larger or more central as it took me a minute to figure out how to track my progress. 5) I also feel like I should be able to click somewhere (perhaps on one of the yearly data tracking sections?) and be brought to a list of all the books I’ve read within the year. If this app is updated to include these features, it will be the clear winner as far as reading apps go! Hopefully it will be soon! 🤞.Version: 200
Important feature missingIn general this is the best book tracking app I found and the variety of tags/ratings is amazing. However, the fact that it does not allow me to filter my own library, according to my ratings, it’s frustrating (e.g: filter for all books i voted as 5 stars). Ive seen online this is a common complaint re Fable so Im curious if the developers are planning on enabling this feature (should be simple as the data is already in the app). Additionally, privacy is a big concern of mine. I’m not looking for a book tracking app with a strong social aspect, I would like to keep the ratings and notes private to myself only as reminders. However, the app does not allow that, and every rating and note I make are necessarily public. This is also something that would be extremely important to enable..Version: 205
Interesting but could use some modificationsI am interested with the concept of this app. I will be interested to see how well the book club feature works. I wish you could save book clubs with out immediately joining that way you can wait to join until you already have the book or aren’t trying to join after it’s already started. I also wish I could customize my lists. There’s no way to sort or reorganize them which I find a little frustrating. However I love the design compared the goodreads and I am interested to see how this app develops. Update: after using for a few more days I’m finding out that I can’t seem to edit or delete posts. It seems like a bug because I try to tap on the three dots on the right hand side and nothing happens. It seems odd that I can’t edit or delete posts so I would like to see this in an update..Version: 145
Love the idea but some recent bugs and issuesLike that you can have private lists, the aesthetic of the app, there’s a widget Like they said it can sync with Goodreads since all my friends use Goodreads so that’s my primary BUT ISSUE it won’t auto sync (I used to have to manually click something to sync but that button is gone now) and so my 2024 reading list isn’t accurate cuz I could sync it. My 2024 list also added books I marked as read but not in 2024. Wish the widget options came in various sizes and it was more than streaks I don’t really care about that since I read every day but it would be cool if it was a small long size widget and it said on the right “current book: and showed the pic of the current book and on the left it said “goal:” and had # read / # goal. That would be way better than streaks. I also don’t really use the small square widgets and that’s the only option they give. Not all my reviews synced over what I wrote (back when sync “worked” aka I had to manually do it). Wish it also synced with Libby somehow and it would let you know what books on your list are available with a filter (now, 2 weeks or less, 1 month, etc). And give alerts when books not yet released would be released on the library (libraries) you have cards to..Version: 202
Almost perfectIve been trying to find an app to replace Goodreads and this one is a strong competitor. It’s so much brighter and fresher feeling. It also has a lot more to offer with book clubs and being able to track tv shows. The only thing that keeps me from completely switching over is that it doesn’t let you add multiple read dates. I read some books every year (like I’ve read the hunger games series every November for the last 5 years) and I want to be able to track those dates. Unless I’m doing it wrong you currently have to remove the previous reading sessions dates and enter new ones. Which is a little sad for me. But I know some people don’t care as much about the reading dates (I used to be one of those people lol), so if that’s you I would definitely give this app a try..Version: 178
If you love tracking and book clubs this app is for you!I absolutely love this app. It’s still is working on features I wish it had like .25 rating but it is great about reminding me to read every day and has a widget I can put on my phone to keep me on track. I also love the book club features and it’s so much fun to chat every chapter about a book with my busy life. The other feature I love about this app is that reviews for your TBR are shown on your feed and it’s really a cute book community, like a Twitter for books. I love that you can post what you read every month on different social media platforms using fable there’s just so much to love about a wholesome book community app and more updates keep coming and I love the vibes. Would recommend!.Version: 185
Good app but needs improvements1. You should be able to pick the edition of the book you’re reading including different languages 2. Most older, non-english or nonfiction books I search for aren’t on the app, & when I request them to be added I wait weeks & nothing happens 3. I want to see my own review of a book when going through my lists, not the books summary. I shouldn’t have to scroll through my list of reviews to find the one I’m looking for 4. Scrolling down on your own page I should be able to click on the authors I read more often & get a more detailed report of which of their books I read. Same thing with my most common star ratings—I should be able to click & see which books I gave what star rating. Same thing with genres too..Version: 206
My favourite social mediaThere are some things that I’d love for Fable to improve but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t my favourite social media - bookish or otherwise!.Version: 272
SighNo matter what genres you read, this app will recommend the same booktok garbage over and over again - and it will subject to banal posts from the people who read said books ad infinitum..Version: 260.1
GreatGreat app, I love the books and tv show option. One thing I don’t like is having to go through adding my birthdate and the genres of books/tv shows I like when I just want to log into my already existing account. The selection picking should be for “new users” only. Otherwise, lovely app..Version: 170
Fun way to keep track of your books! It’s an interesting and fun app, that helps me stay off of other social media’s and keep tract of my books.Version: 271
I love itGot it cause I saw a ton of ads on tiktok. Easy to use and I love it.Version: 269
Author WTR sort optionI LOVE this app, my one and only book tracker app. Though, adding an Author sorting option to the WTR list provided would be a great add to keep track of series together and whatnot..Version: 267
Love Fable so much!Joined Fable on a whim from a friend’s invite, uploaded my GR history in minutes and have never looked back. Love the book club feature and I enjoy reading more as Fable sets it up so we can discuss one chapter at a time and we never worry about spoilers. Highly recommend. 💖💖💖.Version: 266
AwesomeIt’s like a community and it’s super fun. it’s also really easy to keep track of your reading in an aesthetic way..Version: 265
Brilliant appAs a bookish girlie who has no one to talk to about her books, this app has been a life saver and SO much fun! it’s like if goodreads and instagram had a baby - fable does it all and it’s beautifully designed. so happy i found this app, and a big thank you to fable for continuing to update and implement new features regularly!.Version: 260.1
LangueEn francais svp !!.Version: 263
I love this app but more customization would be cool!!Its so fun to leave reviews for books and get recs from people on here BUT i wish there was a way we could pin our favourite books to our profiles (similar to how letterboxd lets u have a top four).Version: 263
The best book tracking app!So organized and easy to navigate, and satisfying to use! i love being able to track my reading, and be able to communicate with other book girlies and posts!.Version: 258.1
Star reviewsI’ve finished a few book that are five stars but I can only drag it to 4.75 stars to review. Please fix!!.Version: 260.1
Not reread friendlyGreat app unless you reread books. Went to reread a book and moved it to current reading again and the tracking doesn’t reset. Very disappointing considering everything else they have in the app, this seems like one of the most basic features that should have been in from the start.Version: 259
Amazing UI & Addictive Tracking - ONE BIG BUG!As a part time CPO I’ve spent a lot of time reviewing apps, this one has such impressive and expressive features and ui it is a dream to use. I find the tracking features addictive and visually very gamified and soo fun and shareable. I adore the presentation of reviews, although I wanna pick and label my own emojis! I have found ONE MAJOR BUG - every time I accidentally preview a title (always tap it by accident when I want to tap a book cover pdp) it takes me into an immersive book experience I can’t exit!! Even if I close the app, all other features are removed and I am only in the book! I have had to delete and reinstall the app 3 times!! Then it takes me through the welcome sequence all over again! Hire me to help with your QA! sanjarose at protonmail - your app is amazing and I’d love to make it even better! 💖✨.Version: 256
WelllI loved and used this app for a very long time, but I recently got kicked off because it is now 18+? Why is a book app for adults only.?? Please change this!!.Version: 257.1
App doesn’t load oftenI really love this app, but lately I’ve been having a lot of issues with it loading. Half the time I go on the app I can’t even see anything it’s just loading screens. The developers seriously need to figure out how to make this app handle high traffic😭.Version: 256
Love the look but…When i search up a book to log, there is seemingly always 2 different versions of it in fable’s database, with different average ratings and reviews, so i never know which one to use. why is this? pls fix!.Version: 256
FableThis app is free and fun it’s so helpful with logging my reading process I really recommend to any reader.Version: 252
Perfect for readers!I love using fable. You’re really able to have an interactive reading community and write really in depth reviews. The only thing I would say is I wish, when we DNF a book we were still able to write a comment and reason why we DNFed it.Version: 253
The Missing AppThis app was exactly what I was missing. It’s not worth the pro version/paid version in my opinion (at this point in my use) but it’s got so many good free features that make it feel worth using. I love being able to track my reading and post my reviews!.Version: 252
Good for trackingGood little app.Version: 250
Wont let me see books descriptionWhy has the app been so glitchy lately? It doesnt let me see what the book is about.Version: 252
Great but bugsHey..not sure what’s happening but the errors on the app today is out of control. Just thought I’d give you a heads up.Version: 248
Why always have a subscription…The only reason I didn’t switch to StoryGraph instead is because I love having the reading streak. I really hate always having to pay for “fable +” just to be able to set a page goal..Version: 250
App TeactionEasy to use and fun to explore!.Version: 248
Can’t find textbooksI like fable and prefer to good reads, however, I cannot find my medical textbooks to add whereas I can add them to my reading logs on Goodreads. It would also be nice to be able to take a photograph of a book and search for it that way..Version: 248
Days at the Torunka Cafe4.0 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am definitely biased, I simply love this author and the complexity of each one of his characters. It’s not easy to depict several intertwined stories and for you to remember each interaction and imagine how each character life would be. However, this time I felt like something was missing, the last story feels a little rushed, with a cliffhanger at the end. It’s heartwarming good for a quiet day with a good cup of coffee ♥️.Version: 248
Fantastic!I love this app so much! It’s been the best way to keep track of my reading, I wish I had it sooner! I love that it shows you people who have similar interests as you so you can find new books based off those similar interests. The only thing I wish it showed less of, is reviews on books you’ve already read (I’ve already read it so at that point I don’t care) so less of that would be great. But more of the “this person has similar interests” because I have found soo many new books that way! Either way though I highly recommend this app, it’s a game changer!!.Version: 248
GlitchyI love Fable but I’m constantly frustrated by how glitchy it is sometimes. Lots of times I can’t use the app when I want to. Great app otherwise..Version: 248
The bestMy favourite app on my phone.Version: 247
AmazingSuper good gives yearly reviews no paying and you get to create a book club 1000% going to recommend.Version: 247
Alchemy of Only SecretsWelcome to a beautiful new world of magic and abilities masterfully crafted by the expert of suspense. I was ready to get lost in this world but I felt like I wasn’t given the chance. I had more questions than answers by the end but that being said, I’m ready for the sequel!.Version: 247
Definitely Worth itThis is a great app! I’m able to keep track of what’s already on my bookshelf, what I want to read, what I haven’t read, and what I’ve bought. I can make so many different lists for different books!!! And if I don’t know what to read, I can just scroll on the app, type in the things I enjoy reading and it gives me a whole ton of books I can add to my tbr…or at this point tbb (to be bought). On top of everything, this app also has a section for tv-shows!!!! How cool’s is this?!? This app is definitely a 100/10 for me!.Version: 246
Great Customer ServiceI really appreciate how fast and good the customer service is on this app. If ever there’s a book missing, or a cover missing, they’re quick to update it if you let them know. Love the layout of the app and it’s definitely better than Goodreads..Version: 246
