NOAA Radar & Weather Forecast Positive Reviews
About the past weather infoA gentleman had an opinion about the app. He said they don’t show past history like they use to. I 100 percent agree. I’d like past rain fall for my job and journals. I use to use it at my old job we had to record past moths rainfall for water run off records and it was so nice, but not available now..Henry topicalVersion: 56
Kept me and my students safeA small tornado came through our campus a few years ago and the alert on my phone helped me keep my students sheltered and safe inside instead of walking outside between classes. When I drove through campus later on, the path of the tornado was clearly visible with broken trees and overturned cars. I’m certain someone would have been injured if students were heading towards their cars at that time..HarperVoyagesVersion: 73.7
Weather map excellent but hard to find stuffI got this so I can track Tornedos. I’m still not sure it does that service for me because when I bought it, another app was recommbended which I’d have to pay for.
I paid the 20 bucks for the year thinking this would be my weather radio. The other night there was a Tornedo and I believe my phone went off. So a plus there. However when I open the app, there doesn’t seem to be a way to check for Tornedo watches or warnings. the color chart includes “heavy rain”
Since I was recommended to purchase another app I don’t even know if this app was the one that saved my life for a tornedo.
I guess it needs to come w instructions and needs to be clear about free and not free features.ZahavaVersion: 73.4

To the poor soul who got political hereYou couldn’t be more wrong. NOAA weather is free online, always has been. This is a PRIVATE app from a private entity who charges because anyone has the right to for their PRIVATE BUSINESS. Go online to get it FREE then, and stop lying to people. NOAA is FREE. NOAA Radar & Weather Forecast Negative Reviews
Only a 3day trial that you must cancelUnlike the responses from the developers, you don’t get a free version.
You must accept notifications or it won’t even set the app up. As a weather spotter for Melbourne, Florida I’m always looking at new or different weather apps. Sometimes I’ll buy one that I’ve used extensively before making my decision. This app gives you three days to try and then it will automatically start charging you.
I won’t even give this app the benefit of me testing it because of this.
Those that are complaining about having to pay for an app that gets its data for free from noaa…NOAA supplies all its information free to you already. You are wanting to use a shortcut in the form of a convenient easy to use and understand app for your smartphone. That requires an app developer to spend their time, effort and money to create that app for you. Find a weather app that supplies that information free or poor quality or get it from your browser for free.
Complaining that your’re not getting something for free is poor form!.RonR66Version: 73.7
Not worth the costThe advertising and concept makes this seem like a robust weather monitoring and notification platform, but it is unfortunately not that at all. A lot of people have left reviews about the cost and why it’s too high. I’ll just say this, there are multiple apps for much less cost than this that deliver more.
The app has very basic alert options and didn’t come close to what I expected for the cost and advertising.
I’m an employer that needs to monitor heat and smoke for my workers to meet state compliance.
- I want notifications for specific temperature ranges when they occurs BUT Not an option with this app.
- I was wanting to get active AQI updates during wildfire smoke events And once again not an option.
Not to be cruel, but I honestly thought this was a scam app after a few minutes of exploring the capabilities. I’ll explain
There are many aspects about the functionality that seem to be broken, glitchy or underdeveloped.
- The top banner that shows the temp forecast is chopped off and the high and low for the day aren’t even fully visible
- when I select fire/ smoke there is nothing that shows up on the map to show smoke
- the wind option only changes color where most every other app also shows wind direction on the various area of the map.
-temperature is also just a various color map, not points of temperature for reference.
I could go on, but I doubt the developer cares or spends much time actually using this app themselves..YmlwillVersion: 73.7
Gone downhillI originally subscribed to the NOAA Weather App when it was free. It was always easy to use intuitive and very accurate. A few years ago they begin charging $3.99 for a monthly membership. Knowing it was worth every penny, I subscribed. Well yesterday, my NOAA weather app would only open to a black screen. Tried multiple troubleshooting measures and nothing worked. Ultimately, I deleted the app and reloaded it from the App Store. Now, it wants me to pay $5.99 per week, and my screen has advertisements on it. And Message said I could pay the 599 per week and not get messages. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE $3.99 I PAID 3 WEEKS AGO? There is a selection I could pick titled “restore my account,“ but when you push it, absolutely nothing happens. Regarding the technical performance of this new app, it will only show me the weather patterns in the last four hours. I can’t see 30 minutes from now what the projections are going to be – I guess unless I pay the $5.99 per week. This is very very disappointing, insulting, and extortion..Big Human TripodVersion: 73.9
Seriously?!This is a joke. It should not cost me $6 a week to make sure my kids are safe 6 weeks out of the year. It’s theft. I don’t mind paying premium on apps that have a basic free version once I know they are worth it. It typically takes me a year to determine if it’s an app I’m even going to use so it is pointless to use a “one week free trial” I delete as soon as I see it. I am not happy with this app and will continue to look for an app that lets me know of tornados in my area without me having to pay ridiculous amounts. Yes I’m irritated we are supposed to be on tornado watch the next 24 hours to the point my daughters school canceled but I am still going to have to work. I know the kids are well versed in the NOOA at home but I would have liked to know if we have any of those issues while I’m at work. So glad there are storm chasers in our area I can trust to get the news from..KhurtsmomVersion: 73.6.20000
Tax Payer Funded RIP-OFFWe the US Tax Payers fund NOAA with an Annual Budget of $6.9b dollars per year (source: Wikipedia) and what do they do? Put out this piece of garbage app and try to bilk those very same Tax Payers out of $5.99/week for a very basic Map App with a janky UI. This App has nothing on the Radar feature built into The Weather Channel App I already have an annual “pro” subscription for, which at only $30/year is but a fraction of the cost A US TAX PAYER FUNDED ORGANIZATION is trying to bilk me out of. This App is a disgrace and a disservice to American Tax Payers by taking the information they have paid for and putting it behind some exorbitantly priced paywall. I am no longer a fan of NOAA and I support any and all efforts to either disband them and/or gut the management and clean house. They have clearly lost their way and are not operating in the interests of the US Citizens who they have clearly forgotten that they work for.ConCarnageVersion: 73.0.0
Why is there a cost to US citizens for this? You cannot do anything with this app without multiple ads popping up with every action attempted. I do not understand why US taxpayers have to pay for this when we are already funding NOAA. I’m deleting this app right now. It’s impossible to get any value from it without paying for each useful feature or suffer being bombarded with back to back, long running ads with every single action attempted.
If some private vendor is using NOAA, their ‘brand’ and their data AND trying to scam more money off the struggling lay tax paying citizen, then said vendor should be found and charged a sizable fee to use the data that are collected by tax payers’ funding. I’m sure in the end, they would end up paying us to use this app..LittleBigHeartVersion: 73.2
Radar only with crippled appMy review still stands below. Useless as it stands when you download it. Worse in that the price went up even further. Stay with Weather bug, Weather Mate, storm shield for a far superior product without the insane price on this app.
———————————-
3.99 per week? I didn’t even bother with trial. That’s over 200 dollars a year. CRAZY pricing over something that comes free in most apps without subscriptions. You can’t pinch zoom without subscription? Seriously, basic iOS operation restricted? Save your time and money. My prior review still stands. I thought maybe app owner came to their senses. Weather Bug, Weather Mate, Storm shield far superior on their free products than what this app offer and these apps are free (ad supported) to use..Allen LiebermanVersion: 73.7
How does this have 4.3 stars?!?3 day free trial? I can’t even see the radar 30 seconds after downloading because it’s blacked out with a message to watch an ad or pay for premium and clicking “watch ad” results in a message stating ads are not available at this time.
If this is your level of app building, there’s no way I’m paying a dime for it.
Honestly I was doubting I’d end up paying your asking price since I can subscribe to cable with a weather channel and local Channel radars (complete with mobile access) for not much more.
But Is NOAA not a government entity? Do our tax dollars not fund this? As a Floridian trying to see a potential hurricane headed my way, I am astonished to find this information is only accessible based on ability to pay. SMH..AquariantatVersion: 60
If it was an airplane, it’d hit an iceberg and sink in the AtlanticAs one of my favorite weather apps appears to no longer be available, I thought I’d try NOAA Weather Radar.
To put it bluntly, this app is a disaster.
It is my qualified professional opinion, that not one thought was given to the user.
While this maybe, technology, a really cool blending of open source and third party parts and pieces, it falls dramatically short of being useful.
If it were an airplane, it wouldn’t just not get off the ground, it wouldn’t be able to start its engine without first flushing a toilet, but only after paying a subscription fee to use the toilet. Does that analogy sound bizarre? Good, because it’s a perfect description for this disastrous application..1967 SkylarkVersion: 72
AwfulI downloaded the app to see the radar and the weather for the week out. As soon as I opened the app it was asking me to get premium for $5.99 it was ridiculous. You could only check the radar for 30 seconds before it blacking out and telling you that you were out of time and needed watch an add afterwards. The weather it's self was so inaccurate, I was told there was clear skies but where I am it's literally raining. It told me I could unlock this thing for free and nearly skipped every step by putting the words at the bottom and nearly scamming me to pay for premium once again. After 5 minutes the app started glitching out and slowing my phone and everything. Don't download this..JfjskfnskowVersion: 60
Weather started and stopped in the time it took me to navigate this appThis would be a great app if when you open it, it would immediately display the past, current, and future weather radar right away. In the time it took me to download, open this, and click no, no, no to a bunch of subscriptions (expensive, too), it stopped raining. So now I know what I wanted to know and will delete the app. Are y’all not getting enough funding from the gov or something? It does seem nuts that a tax payer funded weather service would cost 5.99 a week (2.99 on sale if you click in the next 50 seconds, good grief)..LizzzzzzxxxxxxxxxxxxxVersion: 73.4
Have payments gone haywire? And this is not from NOAA!I installed the app a year ago thinking it was from NOAA and was somehow enrolled in the $2.99 a week plan. I didn't subscribe intentionally to that much per week. Worse, it recently has been charging me that amount multiple times a week. I’m currently figuring out how many hundreds of dollars I spent on an app I never used. I’m surprised how Apple allowed the NOAA name to be in the title when it is from a private company. That seems intentionally misleading along with the ease by which you can accidentally subscribe to such a frequent recurring subscription. This app should be renamed and probably removed from the App Store due to misleading practices..Molly9503Version: 73.0.0
Worst experience ever with an app...I watched 5 ads in a row and wasn’t able to view more than 4 projected hours of a radar loop. I’ll pay for the use of an app if it’s worth it. And I’ll gladly pay by watching ads if it’s not up to quality to pay money for. But seriously, I couldn’t even see any bit of forecast! Every 5 seconds of radar I watched, it told me I had to pay or watch an ad. So I watched the 30sec ad, and tried to see the radar forecast again. 5 seconds later, another message saying I need to pay or watch an ad!!
I did this 5 times before I gave up. I currently pay for 3 other weather apps and would pay for this if my initial experience wasn’t total garbage.
Figure it out!.TheRealMarkEvansVersion: 51
NOAA Weather Radar is Unusable & Unscrupulous‼️I can NOT believe that NOAA issued this app‼️ One can’t access this app, because the ad windows keep interfering with access to any functioning features‼️ Worse yet, the ad campaign mounted by the developers, is unscrupulously relentless‼️ These ads are disguised as realistic weather-alerts, within other legitimate weather apps, or as feature bars; which lure one to check for the warning - only to find their crummy ad‼️ This is a dangerous practice that puts people, who are experiencing extreme-weather conditions, at risk; by interfering with their access to legitimate weather-information‼️
NO APP AD SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO MIMIC EMERGENCY ALERTS🚨🚨🚨‼️‼️‼️.Beekeeper911Version: 60

Please help. I rely upon the app, I’ve paid for it, I’d like to use my subscription.
It seems as though once a person has subscribed and submitted their payment, there is no further support. I’d hate to believe that’s what this app does since I’ve subscribed for so long but if there is help, it isn’t evident so my money is paying for nothing at this time..ApperUzrVersion: 73.10

DO NOT GET THIS APPI was needing to find a radar to see 23 hours ahead because I was scared I was going to get stranded out in eastern Montana. So, I decided to get this app to see the radar. As soon as I opened the app, I got three different requests to go premium. I clicked the tiny x in the corner and a payment option popped up. Already regretting getting this, I looked at the radar. Any five seconds after using it, it said “oops, you have used all your radar for the day.” Buy premium to see 24 hours ahead. After that I said “screw this app” and deleted it. What’s to like?My local TV station has a free weather app that I’ve used for a few years now.. I loved it. The radar image was quick to load. Easy to read. Had layers you could turn on and off (clouds, Doppler, lightning, hail…)
They’re about to stop supporting it, and referring me to the NOAA app. I was disappointed, like others, that it was a paid service. NOAA is slow to load the maps aren’t nearly as easy to read. And if you want it to do half the stuff my other app did, you have to pay $6/week.
I guess I’ll stick with my old app until it goes dark..MrJDawg96Version: 63
Should be MUCH BETTER.6$/ week x 48 weeks in a year = $288!!!!!
WHAT A JOKE! Even if it worked the way it should that’s just crazy!
For an insane $6/week price tag this app either does not update settings (as basic as changing map settings) or has a very long delay. Very glitchy in all. Definitely canceling after free trial.
It would be good if all features actually worked they way they should, but with the radar competition these bugs should already be fixed, especially for how much they ask for people to pay.

Dodged This Bullet!Even though I clicked the button “Get” in the Apple store, I started reading way too many bad reviews & thought I’d still at least check it out. I went through all the “continue” buttons, but then saw that the $5.99 was a weekly fee not a monthly! That’s a bit pricey if you ask me. So I did NOT double click on the side button of my iPhone. I double checked in my settings > subscriptions & I dodged this bullet & it’s not there!
I pay $9.99 a “month” for Apple Music ( & not weekly ), & get just about everything under the sun, but this is just a weather app & Idk about the rest of you, but I’m not paying almost $24 a month for a weather app. It’s just not worth it to me when there’s free ones & some are really good!

Not helpful and expensive!I had used this app almost exclusively to follow rain and snow and get a quick updates. Pop ups with weather behind themWhen you open this app the first thing you see is the same pop up. Every time. You have to dismiss it before you can see the weather. I get it, they want money. But that’s a high price to pay just to find out whether their temperature is anywhere near the temperature at my house. Which it isn’t. They say it’s 85, and my home weather station says it’s 90. What the ???It’s hard for me to believe that I downloaded the right app. All I get is a transparent covering on my screen over the radar asking me if I want to upgrade or watch the ad. I don’t have a problem with watching the yard.
So I tap “watch ad.” I get a 60 second ad for a game. When the 60 seconds is done, the only option is to download the game. Find another appI’ve had this app installed for about three minutes. I’ve been prompted five times to upgrade subscription, and I am on the screen where I can’t see anything unless I agree to watch a “free ad”. I’m pretty sure this is against Apple‘s terms of service as it would not be fair to any advertiser to force-feed their ads to customers. Bait and switchAbsolutely hate how your app shows free in Apple store and then I get half way through the sign up and I’m forced to take the initial free and then must sign up for the $2.99 a week charge. Paywall for everythingThe NOAA weather data is provided free by the government. That we as tax-paying citizens cannot get an app to share that information with us in a simple user interface is beyond me. This app charges for almost any relevant weather information. You cannot even zoom into the map without paying for premium. Again this information is free to get, why are am I being asked to pay so much for free information?.BeaninjamanVersion: 72
Free version is awful! The $2.99 per week version may be better, but the “free” version is awful.
You can’t look at the map but a moment before the “Buy the premium version” add pops up & blocks the screen. It requires you to watch an add, which usually malfunctions, before you can view the map again.
If you try to add another city or change the settings, the “ buy the premium version “ add blocks you again.

Deceptive free versionThis app is mostly useless as a free version, and relentless in trying to sell you paid subscriptions for features. The radar view lasted maybe 30 seconds, then disappeared. Smells like a scam.I searched on “weather port townsend” and this apparently NOAA app surfaces. Click. Off to the App Store. Install. I assume it’s a free app since there is no mention of fee.
Open. Immediately all I can see is $5.99/week after three day free trial. All I could see were two options:
1. Accept the offer, or
2. Continue with purchases
What purchases??
Over $300/year!!
Preposterous.
I immediately deleted the app. Upon returning to the App Store this apparently NOAA app is there waiting. It shows the little cloud with down arrow suggesting that it’s still installed waiting to be reactivated with a click. To install it I agreed to payment. That occurs for free apps so I was not concerned.
But this attempt to get users to agree to over $300/year is, in my opinion, a scam.

Program not so badThe problem is that it relies on Noah technology for all the heavy lifting. Secondary to that the free subscription relies solely on a pay for play very shortly after your customers try the program. That would not be so bad if you didn’t make cancellation a maze close to quantum mechanics to solve. So the base of the program is not your work, but generating money and keeping it may well be? Taxpayer Funded ExtortionDespite the scathing reviews, I decided to give this app a try. It was terrible. Nope!
It’s so poorly designed. It doesn’t provide useful and easily interpreted info.
Screen real estate is taken up with buttons that are too large.
I watch a wider area than just mine so I can see overall conditions. Half the map you want to see is covered with a banner, 2 buttons, and a “timeline” thing.
Options, settings, and filters are minimal, lacking, and not what you’d expect.

Useless without paid featuresOn install the app bombards you with premium offers that you have to cancel by finding a tiny x in the upper corner, only to be shown “are you sure” dialog after that. Once you actually get to the app it seems to do an ok job showing the radar on a map, but after three zooms and two scrolls to zero in on my location it tells me I’m out of free maps and that i need to watch an ad to continue. No thanks, this app is garbage, delete..McnibbletVersion: 45
Intrusive and decievingRead the reviews, loaded the app. Was only in the app long enough to add one location, then an add covered my entire screen made to look like scareware wanting me to buy another app. The word on the screen were fuzzy but after clicking on close it came right back. Fully closed the app and reopened it and that crap came right back. Bombarted with adds, or you can pay $9.99 PER WEEK!
This app would have received 0 stars if allowed..Blah blah honestyVersion: 73.10
I’m going to delete this app if I keep having to close 10 ads to read itI downloaded the app yesterday because the one that’s the default on my iphone is lousy. Hopefully the ads asking if I want to upgrade to this&that are because I’m new and will stop. Heating oil is 3x what it was 2 years ago, can’t afford to pay for the weather report to see if I’m going to run out before pay day!.Open Keystone, Joe!Version: 73.6.20000
Free version too annoyingReally? Can’t even check the temperature without going thru multi-screen popups hawking the paid version. Every time you open the app and sometimes if you just want to change screens. I like NOAA online, and I like having different weather apps to compare the forecasts. I’ll try this awhile and see if I get used to it, but I see it likely falling victim to the uninstall option..Dpd^TxVersion: 73.2
$6 a week/$300 a year for this?! NOT. WORTH. IT.This is not an app created by NOAA. It’s an app using NOAA data, which is paid for by our tax dollars, packaged up by a third party which wants to charge you a bundle to access it through a terrible interface. A few restarts made the subscription price drop from $6, to $3, to $1.49 a week *ONLY 50 SECONDS LEFT!!* after a three-day trial. Did I mention the lousy interface? It’d take three weeks to figure out how to do what I want with this steaming pile..Pieter BVersion: 73.6.20000
Bugging me for upgrading for moneyJust got this app so for it keeps prompting me to upgrade, I haven’t even had time to use it to check it out and I keep having to clear the prompts.C.C. PostVersion: 73.4
Scam app.The application will force you to pay for different things to actually let you find what you need. NOAA Weather radio is free and will play on any kind of radio..Since 1993 GamingVersion: 64
