Love/Hate RelationshipIt’s all about a fair roll…right? When I’m just playing the AI I expect it to cheat. And it does. A lot (Hard). But when I’m playing someone in, say, Turkey, I expect fair rolls. Doesn’t happen with the frequency it should. How? Example? Just played a game I was winning when the opponent got three doubles in a row. Twice in this game, the opponent got two doubles in a row. In the meantime, I’m getting 1/2 or 2/3…over and over again. And then there are the number of times in other games I’ve played where the opponent gets more successful rolls to put me on the bar than is logical. So I delete the app, then reload it and try again (Einstein’s theory of doing the same thing over again expecting different results). Ok but lots of flawsFun enough. I only play online opponents so no comments on AI play. Many flaws include 1. Anyone can can resign at any time to avoid gammon even if gammon is assured 2. Anyone can just disconnect from the server and both sides will see their opponent time out and both players win. 3. doubling doesn’t apply to the coins you bet to start. so if you increase the starting bet, the doubling strategy math is silly and you should accept any double if you have even the slightest chance of winning. 4. It can be buggy. Every so often, usually when I am way ahead and starting to bear off checkers while opponent has checkers on the bar, the game does weird things like magically show me as having negative checkers on the bar and opponent times out. Dice rolls that just don’t happen in the real game.I signed up and played this game that I thought was an honest game. This game you have options to bet 0 coins, 5, 20 and 50. After playing for awhile I informed the owner that double rolls just don’t happen in the real world. Example: One opponent I played against rolled 5 double 6's. They told me that could honestly happen. I’ve played backgammon for over 50 years and such a thing just doesn’t happen. I played against an opponent who rolled in consecutive order double 6's then 5's then 4's. One night recently I decided to play games where I bet 50 coins for 13 STRAIGHT GAMES. I didn’t win one game because of terrible rolls and opponents constantly rolling doubles. So I stopped playing that night and thought I’d try again the next night. So the next night I played 8 games betting 50 coins for each. Of the 8 games I played I only won 2 games and the only reason I won those is because those opponents timed out which automatically gave me 50 coins each for those 2 games. If you want to play backgammon there’s other games out there that are honest..OtisAmosVersion: 2.3.2

No tutorial as promised!!The application does not have a tutorial as promised. I downloaded it and installed this on my iPad specifically because the comments said that there was a tutorial. Running the program I see no way to view any tutorial. I contacted support and they said that they used to have a tutorial but they’ve removed it from the application. If you’re looking for a Backgammon application that has a tutorial then you’re gonna have to look someplace else. I can’t rate this any higher because I don’t know the game and I was looking forward to taking tutorial so that I could learn how to play the game. Hard setting = favored dice rollsI am a very good backgammon player and I’ve found playing in the single vs. computer mode at the “hard” setting overwhelmingly favors the computer’s dice rolls. There is no way the rolls are random because the computer is almost always getting perfect, lucky rolls. Further, the strategy programmed for the computer’s play is to bump the opponent, no matter where it’s at on the board. Talk to any relatively knowledgeable backgammon player and they will tell you it’s not a good idea to open up stones that have progressed around the board unless it’s the only play available. Nothing to learn hereIf you came to this app to learn strategy, move on. The strategy seems to revolve around controlling the dice. In easy mode, you get favored rolls.
