Great game - but froze on #1149Great game but I WON game 1149 and after showing 3 stars it froze. And when I rebooted it, I was back to the beginning of 1149. Please fix it. Very frustrating to spend all the power up to win and it doesn’t register. This isn’t the first time it happened, but I paid attention to the game number if that helps. Thanks! I don’t follow the story; I just want a good match 3 game that is rewarding. And you delivered! No fees or ads, and best of all, when I got stuck on a level you added an option to skip forward. Another perk is, if I didn’t solve a puzzle after a couple tries, your algorithm changes to give me better matches and win. There’s another match game (not in Arcade) that I won’t play anymore because they are just the opposite of your game. I can play that game 50 times with upgrades and still not win. I’m here to relax, win, and feel good. That’s what YOUR game provides. And, because of this, I’ll continue my subscription with Apple Arcade. Thank you! Changed game orientation?UPDATE: The latest update is pretty buggy. Almost every time I use an idol I end up with a bunch of overlapping gems sharing the same spots. The river raft mini-game is a nice way to gather more boosters, but the achievement counter never increments so I'm stuck at 0/50. But since the game is still in landscape it is pretty awkward to play as i have to hold my iPad by the edges and stretch to reach the arrow buttons. You made the UI square... why doesn't the game auto-rotate with my iPad? ----------- The latest update just changed the game UI from portrait to landscape. It is now letterboxed on the sides and the actual game elements got smaller. It isn't a very good use of screen space and actually makes it harder to play. I'm not sure why the developers chose to do this, but please switch it back—or at least make it a setting. I've had a lot of fun playing this game, but now I'm just annoyed by the new UI. Please let me use all of my pixels instead of this nonsense. Also, this was a pretty major change that I would have expected to see mentioned in the release notes. A few changes would make the game great.I like the game, and I really like having the Apple Arcade package so I can play games without constantly having to funnel money into them. The only negative that I'm finding is that for whatever reason, I don't have that much skill for the river race, and that is the only opportunity really except for the occasional bonuses to collect power ups, which are needed. I could probably do better with a joystick, but I'm playing on my phone. It is frustrating to not only not be able to get power ups that way, but to have over 10,000 gems, none of which I'm allowed to use to get power ups or to force a river race so that I can try to get more. Also, I tried to work the river race using a stylus, because I don't think my thumbs have very much talent, and that didn't work either. I have to try one more time to see if it just didn't work for me. In short, I would love it if they could function in some kind of way that works better when you're on a phone. Good, but still has its issuesPros: - engaging levels and gameplay - a variety of power ups that are easy to acquire - unlimited tries (thank you Apple Arcade) However, there are still some things holding this game back: - game bugs - phantom pieces that impede progress going forward, and create softlocks - sometimes unable to play the river mini game with no explanation as to why - probably the worst golden beetle AI I’ve ever seen in a video game The last point I’m going to go on a rant: the golden beetle mechanics are just awful, unless you merge it with something that give you multiple beetles. Sometimes they help you with level objectives, and most other times it literally just does anything else. It applies game logic the way a two-year old tries to hammer a square peg into a round hole - for instance, it thinks “I will take out this normal blue gem sitting underneath a monkey head so that the monkey head will drop down” but ignore the fact that there are wooden crates, frozen gems, and lava that are sitting above said blue gem, but underneath the monkey head. It comes to a point where it feels more like a liability than it does a buff, and I feel that the programming as far as the priority of the beetles needs to be desperately fixed. Solid, but Needs Content and Bug FixesEDIT: Looks like level 641 is unwinnable. There are blue fruits in the baskets, but those fruits can’t be destroyed by anything (at least not that I’ve found). EDIT 2: Same issue with level 710. Very solid match-3 gameplay. The mechanical aspects of the game are nicely polished and fluid. However, the game runs out of content quickly, leaving your character stuck at a “Cursed Waterfall” (which isn’t a waterfall…but I digress). You’re still able to play new puzzles, earning more gems. Which brings up another issue: gems are mostly useless. You can buy additional power-ups with them for 300 gems, but having almost 50k of them makes it pretty silly. Finally, there’s a really bad bug—often, when getting a large, often level-beating, cascade, the game hard locks. No choice but to close and re-open. Fun, But Needs WorkLet me start by saying, I think the game is fun and I’m enjoying the concept. However, I’ve got some feedback for the dev team. I’ve played many games similar in nature to this game, but this one is hard and it ramps up quickly. I’m not necessarily complaining about the difficulty, however, I’d love to see an “extra moves” option in addition to or to replace the “skip level” option when you don’t pass a level. The worst feeling is when you’ve gotten right there and just need one more move! I’m not a quitter so it pains me to hit skip. I’d also like to see smarter power-ups, specifically scarabs. Sometimes it picks tiles that wouldn’t change the outcome either way instead of eliminating a tile that actually needs to be eliminated. Like I said, overall good, but sometimes I feel like this game desperately wants to be a game with micro-transactions and it can’t be because it’s bound to the terms of Apple Arcade. Love the update but ..I really like this game and play every day. I have been having problems with gems piling up on top of each other in the same space or the app just freezing altogether. When using bonus items this is especially apt to happen which means the bonus items are lost and the level has to be replayed. I like the River run but the new trophy tasks have disappeared on my phone. I can still see them on the iPad so I’m not sure what I need t do to get them back. Also on iPad the app only plays in landscape mode which s fine but the arrows to control the raft are not close enough to the edges of the iPad so I end up having to put tie iPad on a flat surface and holding my hands above the screen. Love this game. But…I’ve played this game a LOT. Decent difficulty that makes you want to keep playing while not being too easy and boring. As long as there’s more levels, I’ll keep playing. Currently on level 1731 and would love to keep playing. Unfortunately, there’s a glitch where it’ll start showing you a random level instead of the correct one (i.e. instead of 1731 they’ll show me level 250). Usually it works for a while after an update, but it’s annoying and I hope it gets addressed permanently. There’s some issue where my Achievements weren’t saved in the Game Center despite finishing them all. If these are addressed, I have nothing bad to say about the game. Used to be my favorite gameUsing on an iPad Pro, running iOS 18. Pros - engaging thinking game. The colors and game play are fun and challenging. Cons - Every single time I win a game, I have to restart the game to play the next level. Phantom pieces just appear and block a space. I very rarely get the cha nce to play the raft game. It’s almost always blacked out. My Apple Pencil only works on certain screens. The AI beetle is the most useless counterintuitive piece of technology I’ve ever interacted with, I avoid making those beetles, they’re useless. These issues have been ongoing since I got the new iPad months ago, I kept hoping an update would fix these issues, but for not. Very Buggy, Decent StoryFun game, and I really want to finally hear the end of Guy’s story and figure out who the Shadow runner is! Unfortunately, I seem to be stuck in a room with all the collectibles from the game and a door with an eight or infinity symbol on it, locked by crystals. There seems to be no way out; No star counter on the door. I won probably 200 stars or more, but the only thing it lets me do is compete in the star leaderboards or whatever. And it says everything on the map is complete. I went to the developer website and started a chat, but no response at all in 24hrs. There have also been buggy levels that would completely crash, especially if I had a timer running on my phone and the notification banner popped up to say times up, and I’ve had Scarabs not hit anything relevant to finishing the level. Fun but with a few quirksFirst, the game is a good relaxing time waster. It looks great and generally works well. The biggest issue is moving the gens or powerups. About 10% of the time, swiping them results in an opposite move. This could be prevented by always selecting and never dragging but that would take too much time. The problem is with powerups because those will move the wrong direction. I’ve had this stop a powerful combination at least 10 times now. I’m not sure what the fix for this is other than not swiping but again, that would add significantly to the time it takes to play a level. Some levels are not winnable without boosters. Mediocre Experience & Arbitrary LimitationsIt’s a fun lighthearted puzzle game but I have 3 huge criticisms: 1. On the harder levels the difficulty is often less about your cleverness, and more about your opening “hand”. On the hardest levels you basically have to be making solid progress right from the beginning of your turns. Pass about 8 turns without getting any good potential bonus matches and you’re out of luck. 2. You can’t backtrack and replay a level to try and 3-star it! Why are you arbitrarily keeping people from trying to do better on a puzzle? You can’t even scroll back through the level to look at the path you’ve tread. You have a play button and literally nothing else interactive. 3. This one is baffling. You earn gems but can’t buy anything with them OTHER than a booster on each level. All of those one-use special moves you can collect—can’t buy ‘em. There’s no “store” where you can use all your gems. I’ve got thousands of gems and no interesting way to use them. All of these things are just quality of life details that make a game like this more fun, and fully-baked. Fun for a couple hundred puzzlesReally solid matching puzzle game. I like the variety of powers from the different match shapes and the interesting interactions when you merge them. The story is tedious and the raft mini game is awful, but those are easy to ignore. Unfortunately, sometime in the late 400 puzzles it’s increasingly common for maps to seem only winnable with very powerful combinations, and replaying those until that combination comes together becomes tedious. Worse, after 505 they introduce a component that simply negates the cheapest combo. You can skip maps or use the (plentiful!) gems to just buy your way out of a level, it that’s not actually very satisfying. No longer funI’ve been playing for some time and I’ve found some room for improvement: I lost count of what level I was on - it was in the 1000s, but the next level I advanced to took me back to level 700-something, and from then on all levels are previously played levels in random order. I am no longer advancing. Why is the main character stuck in the same doorway for eternity? Was someone too lazy to move her around? Having her take two steps forward and back forever looks ridiculous. Others have also noticed that no matter how carefully you swipe, the gems have a tendency to match the other way. There’s nothing more frustrating than being one move away from winning and not being able to “purchase” extra moves. While a good challenge can be enjoyable, there are way too many levels that are impossible to beat and frustrate more than entertain. I’ve noticed in some levels that some targets can’t be eliminated - not with matches or gems, which adds to the impossibility to complete the level. Good game until….Good game had fun playing it until the latest update. Puzzle 1572 has a game breaking bug. It asks to break 29 gold doughnuts, but there are only 28 so no way to win or complete the level. Also no way to skip it as the option does not present itself after playing the level many times like other puzzles. I wish they made another on screen runner with new characters but this is just as fun…almost got stuck on some of the levels but still working on it and is really enjoyable. I wish though once you use your bonuses for that specific level that it comes back if you redo the level which it doesn’t do so something to keep in mind when using everything. Game cheating????Okay, so I’ve made it well over 700 levels, but I’ve noticed that the further along standing at the cursed waterfall, trying to complete levels, and watching the occasional chain reactions, that obvious and clearly stacked color combos that should have been producing colored skulls or other prized pieces, instead just broke up into far less desireable components. That I could accept, grudgingly of course, but the final straw was watching the final play on level 721, produce the final pieces to complete the level and then immediately forcing me to have to retry after it clearly had been completed. Fun Game, But Glitches Make Some Levels Impossible to WinOverall, this is a good puzzle game with a fun storyline. It’s a great time passer. Fun & AddictingI’ve spent way more time on this game that I’d like to admit. I’m currently at puzzle 328 and I haven’t had to use any gems or power ups. I like the variety of blocks and that new variations appear even after playing a few hundred levels. The issue with inconsistent swiping mentioned by a different comment is real and frustrating when I have a combo lined up. Great on iPad, useless on MacBeen playing daily on iPad for a year. played all the levels and amassed more gems than can use. Enjoy daily puzzels, and challenges. Excellent.Probably the best match 3 game I’ve played in a long time. Ample opportunity to earn power ups and gems, I’m on level 450 and have accumulated over 55k gems and have only needed to use 50 to skip a level one time. So many power ups I won’t ever use them all. Fun at first but now boringThe initial game when I downloaded it was interesting. Once the first three levels were complete and the main character was simply standing at the portal it became less interesting. At some point the games started repeating, so one was playing levels already played. Then came then came the addition of gems to the game play. It’s a good game butThe bugs have the worst AI ever. I hate combining them with anything because I know it’s going to make the worst move possible. All they do is make me want to avoid them. BugsFun game that I play more than any. Story mode doesn’t matter to me, but it’s there if that’s your thing. I’ve been experiencing more bugs within the last few months. I’ve got tons of screen shots where multiple items are occupying the same space on a game board. I’ve also finished puzzle 1572 no fewer than 4 times, yet it continues to show there’s a coin left to retain, despite there being nothing but gems left on the game board. The story basically ends after the jungle levels when you are presented with a door and no way of progressing. GlitchyI like it and been playing for years…but, 1) it’s skips during the river rescue on my iPad and iPhone, especially the further you get and it’s way too slow in the beginning. You almost don’t want to stop puzzle solving momentum to get through the first two very slow runs. 2) On the “board” there’s double colors and shapes on one piece. Is it a green diamond? Is it a blue circle? Happening less? What’s annoying is I thought the game’s glitches were because my iPad mini 5 was old and got very hot. I bought an IPad mini 6 it does the same thing. Fun, but make my phone run super hotI’ve played this for a long time and beaten all the levels, but I still get a lot of enjoyment out of it. One issue, though, is that it causes my phone to run hot and runs my battery down super quick. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, but after just a few levels, the left side of my phone gets noticeably hot to the touch. If I’m trying to charge it while playing, I get the notification that charging has stopped until the phone cools down. Fun, addictive, but way too many bugsI was enjoying the game despite the many bugs I encountered with each sitting until I reached level 710 not to mention that there’s nothing further than the waterfall unlock. In level 710, there are no yellow and no green tiles and none of the special moves will destroy the yellow and green items in the baskets. Just a disappointment.Loved finding a puzzle game like this that didn’t have in app purchases looming around every corner, but what I got in replacement for that was tons of bugs and glitches. Great game!I’m on level 645, and 641 was completely unbeatable, I had to skip the level. Now on 645 the balls glitch into the baskets, or the balls won’t move no matter how many times I make a match next to them. Being stuck at the waterfall is no fun either. Great Game until you get stuckThis is a great game. Graphics are great. Puzzles are solid and the Story is great until you get stuck in the trophy room in front of this wall with an infinity symbol. And that's it. No end to the story, no nothing. I can still play puzzles but what happened? It WAS fun, at first. NO SUPPORT.I really really loved this game when I first downloaded it, and I still play it often. However, I get more and more angry at the lack of support. there’s no place to submit a support ticket or report a bug and the game doesn’t give you rewards that you’ve honestly earned. Here’s an overview of the gameplay: The character goes through a landscape and there’s a story and you play matching games in between two advance, the story. All that’s fun, but in no time at all less than a week, I’d say you reach the end of the adventure and the character is stuck in the same hall forever after that. Forever? Yes, literally forever instead of having the character let’s say, for example circle around and go through the same landscape again (now that it’s been restored…) she just stands there and tells a story as if I wanted to read a book and not play video games?) the game freezes all the time and I lose tools and bonuses. I’ve allocated to that level. The game doesn’t give you the progress or points or gems or whatever that you’ve collected. It’s not honest, not fair and and there’s no support. There’s a Support LINK, but all it does is send you to FAQ articles and tutorials that say absolutely nothing. There’s not even a place to report a bug. it seems like Apple paid somebody to develop the game and then fired them. They left. There’s nobody at the helm. There’s nobody monitoring the game at all. Needs More LevelsUpdate : I receive a notification reminding me about the tournament and continue playing. But I can’t! I’ve played all of the levels. You should be able to replay levels to compete in the tournament to collect more stores. Needs more levels and a way to go back and replay some levels. I have finished all of the levels available and cannot complete all of the ‘quests’. Wish there was a way to go back and replay some of the levels. Also, some of the new ‘obstacles’ introduced during game play do not have instructions on how to overcome them. It is fairly easily to figure out, but would be nice to have instructions the first time you encounter them like the obstacles closer to the beginning of the game. Game play is fun since you don’t have to pay to overcome more difficult levels nor worry about how many lives you have left. Hopefully more levels are added soon before I forget about and give up on this game. If I can’t continue to play it regularly by going back to previous levels, I’ll forget about it and/or delete it off my iPhone. I use to love this game!I was so happy to find this game a few years ago--no losing lives, no timers to wait for, no ads every level. Fun game, some challenging levels, and a great story. Great until it crashes or liesI love this game and play for hours - but, I am about ready to delete it forever. It seems that at least once a week, and sometimes more, it freezes and I have to delete and reinstall the app, almost always losing “points”. DisappointingWhen I signed up for Apple Arcade, this was the first game I downloaded because it reminded me of Jewel Quest - one of the first really good Match-3 games. I also came from playing Sir Match a Lot for the past 5 years. The best Match-3 game out there. Unfortunately the level design here is not as great. Few things to mention: 1. Difficulty There are levels where you get 100+ tasks and you have for example 16 moves. You know this game is not designed well when you finish all your moves and you still have half the board to clear. Replaying the failed level doesn’t make it easier. In fact, it can sometimes be even harder, depending on your first moves. 2. No way to buy extra moves. If you are down to needing one extra move, you’ll have to replay the level. 3. If you fail 3 times, you get an option to skip the level. However there is a cooldown from when you used it last time. If you close the game, you have to fail the level again 3 times. If you keep it open, cooldown can be over 30 min. 4. Can’t replay levels you already beat. 5. Bonus tools that you make or buy with gems - sometime they work and sometime they don’t. Game Was Fun…This game was fun until I got stuck at a wall that has a bunch of artifacts on pedestals. The wall looks like it has an infinity sign with a bunch of jagged purple crystals. Also, I will be in the middle of a game and just about to finish the level and the game freezes this losing gems I spent on the level. I have been stuck here for three weeks and nothing happens. In addition, Level 710 fruit baskets don’t remove fruit with the pickax, rocket, cannon or arrow or any of the power ups created within game. Nothing New HereThis is a typical match 3 game. Nothing really new as far as mechanics. The story design seems unfinished. I am currently in the “Treasure Trove” where the progress bar is inaccurate. It appears any story remaining is going to be the main character taking two steps over and over again in the same spot. The loading screen shows four characters. We only meet three. Even the title screen has a character that isn’t featured in the game. As others have mentioned, there is sensitivity issues where combos don’t work. I slide a bomb to the right and it moves left. Honestly, this feels like an unfinished game, capitalizing on an old franchise, that was basically dumped on Apple Arcade. Decent game hobbled by no in-app purchasesHere is another classic example of a game that was clearly designed for in-app purchases which makes it very tedious to play at higher levels. Many of the levels (even ones not labeled as 'hard' or 'super hard') are WAY too difficult without powerups. You start out with a decent enough amount of stars, but they quickly disappear. You do get a paltry 10 stars just for trying a level, but most powerups are 300 stars to buy. Even skipping a level (a decent enough feature) costs 50 stars *after* you've attemped it several times and the cooldown has elapsed. DisappointedThis game is normally very fun. I play on my iPhone with a few problems not enough to complain about. But my iPad is a completely different matter. Way too many bugsThis game is incredibly frustrating. Most time, “very hard” puzzle doesn’t mean that you need skill, but rather that you need incredible luck and/or use all your resources to clear the “puzzle.” On top of this, the game will constantly hang or bug out. You’ll waste resource, time, get lucky, etc and then have the puzzle just hang or have it not do something, like clear a genie bottle block or row of compasses, etc. You’ll also get many times where you have one goal left and one turn and are happy because you saved a scarab, but instead of the scarab hitting the goal, it will fly off and just take a random gem. Why am I stuck in the treasure room?This was a great game until I completed the first three storylines.
