What kind of scam are you pullingI am rating 3 stars to get people who look at reviews to perhaps see this. i downloaded this app to translate a single line of another language to English via photo - which i will give you, it served that purpose great. however, in order to access this function, i was offered a subscription model. i saw $0.49 and was okay to pay as some one-time transaction, then i saw the actual cost which somehow translated to $9.99 PER WEEK to have and keep a photo-translation function that is free or a one-time payment on other apps. $40 a month for that function sold to the inattentive consumer's eye as a 49 cent payment. this is absolutely a predatory business practice. you are price gouging the common desire for knowledge and you know it. it is criminal that this predatory scam is at the top of the app store recommendations for a photo-translation application. this is a deliberately promoted scam that i dislike leaving a positive amount of stars on, but think that only a certain quantity of review readers read enough and am leaving it on the star rating where those folks will see it. your app did the function it offers. however, it profits off a predatory practice that makes people believe they are paying fifty cents for what is genuinely a $40/month expenditure. this app should not be so highly rated. there are plenty of other pieces of software that can do what this app does. this is, once again, a blatantly predatory business model that takes a crazy amount of money out of the pockets of people who want to use technology to broaden their knowledge. thank you for the one translation that i used before i realized what this costs. i'll be sure make use of my week of subscription. thanks! eat dirt :).SpearaVersion: 4.2.0

This app saved a first dateI was in Cancun with my friends and my buddy (who speaks broken Spanish) met two girls who wanted to grab drinks on a double date. I volunteered to join in and all was well until we realized the girls don’t speak English and I don’t speak Spanish. Using my buddy as a translator we fumbled through the first 20 minutes of the date but things were not going well… until I found this app. When I got the app downloaded were off to the races. The voice to text worked well enough for us to hold a conversation and against all odds I was able to joke around with the girls. What was about to be the most awkward date of my life (and likely theirs) turned into a success story and we had a great time. Errors in Haitian Creole language translationThe Haitian Creole has errors in the translation, the Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese look good so far but I got the app to help me speak to Haitian people I’m meeting and the 1st word I put in the translation was different than how they commonly say good morning. I should of chose the 7 days for .49 cents before I decided on the 2.99 a month which is 35 a year which is not a bad price if the translation was correct. I didn’t need this app for Spanish and Portuguese because I have a apple translator that does that, it didn’t have Haitian Creole and I saw this one does and has good reviews, now I’m stuck with an app that I paid for for that I don’t need for a whole year. Worst appYou only allow someone to translate 2-5 things before you exceed a limit, and then want to charge $35 usd for a yearly membership? Absolutely wild. You’re not even properly letting people access your service to compare and contrast to see in the first place. Regardless of how good the service is, the inability to test it is inexcusable. I’ve test driven cars with less restrictions than that. Let me tell you one thing you can fix though so it doesn’t seem like I’m just hating. Your idiotic programmers forgot something so minor but should’ve been common sense to implement- when you type in a language in “auto detect” it’ll detect it alright, but won’t switch it to tell you which language. Fix that and then we’ll see about moving that rating to at least two stars. And that’s from like 5 minutes of use? If something so trivial yet a QOL adjustment isn’t implemented, I wonder what I could find within 10 minutes let alone a year of use! All in all, in comparison to even google translate- not worth the time to even download it. 1/10- and that’s just because it was capable to translate to be continued. Not very effectiveI’ve been in Japan and have tried using this app in a variety of places. When it comes to taking a picture of menus and signs, all I get is that there’s an error and nothing ever works. Unfortunately I paid for a subscription thinking it would be good after seeing the reviews (my mistake) and now I regret it. I should’ve just used something else :( This app has worked maybe twice total. I’ve thought perhaps it was the internet connection, but even with full service it just doesn’t seem to work. Horrible translatorI used the 7 week option for my trip in Japan. It was just horrible. First of all it did not let me use it on my phone without a wifi even though I had full 4 bars with data at 40MB speed . Is this designed to only work with wifi ? Just dumb When i tried using it with wifi when available , it tool a long tome to respond , like 30-45 seconds which is painfully long when asking a stranger for help at the hotel or in the street. Don’t get the free trialDon’t get the free trial because 1. it isn’t even that accurate and 2. even if you cancel your trial in time they will still try to take money out of your account even after deleting the app and never using it again. The translation is fine, but they charge almost 30$ a week and make it very difficult and unclear on how to cancel the subscription. SCAM ALERT!!I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this app and developer. First off, the subscription model feels incredibly deceptive. When you sign up, you’re presented with two options: • $0.49/week for the first week, renewing at $14.99/week afterward • $4.99 for the first month, renewing annually at $59.99 after the first month I chose the $4.99 first month option because I was interested enough to test the app before committing long term. Instead, I was immediately charged the full $59.99 annual fee the moment I subscribed, despite the app clearly advertising a $4.99 introductory period. I contacted the developer immediately and requested a refund, explaining the situation. Their response was essentially: “Sorry, we can’t help you. Contact Apple.” Thankfully, Apple stepped in and refunded the charge almost immediately, which says a lot. To make matters even worse, the app itself barely functions. Every time I tried using either the camera feature or the text feature, the app would completely freeze and force close. Literally unusable. Not a free trial, not enough languagesI used this to try and help my child translate a children’s book for a project.
