Anybox - Bookmark & Read Later App Comments & Reviews

Anybox - Bookmark & Read Later Positive Reviews

The bookmarking tool I always wanted to buildI spent years keeping a modest collection of bookmarks in Pinboard and Raindrop, but ironically I only ever wanted a great native desktop experience for my bookmarks. Anybox covers just about every use case I have and then some. It avoids the trap of becoming yet another read-it-later app while providing great productivity features like AppleScript support and deeplinking. The drag-and-drop support makes importing and exporting a breeze as well. All in all, a fantastic app with a receptive developer and flexible subscription and one time payment options for just about everyone..Version: 1.8.0

Looks nice, not so nice in useThe interface looks nice, but this app falls down at the crucial first step of saving content. It saves links, but I could not get it to save pdf’s or web archives (I would prefer an editable format like Markdown anyway). It appears to default to saving a jpeg screenshot, which is useless most of the time. It won’t let you save a given link more than once, which is counter productive if you want to save different formats, even if you delete the link entry- you have to delete it from the trash. Please note this is not really a good tool for saving all kinds of content, it’s really focused on links. I think it’s pricey for what you get. There are cheaper alternatives which work well..Version: 1.14.1

Anybox is 👌I use and test workflow software / tools for a living. Anybox is powerful but understated. Uses apples ecosystem very well including iCloud sync which is surprisingly hard to come by. Unlike most bookmark-ish-notetake-your-life tools, I feel as though my data is respected across browsers, desktop, mobile, and integrations. Much more to say about the tooling but if you’re reading this far just read the onboarding docs. Oh and the price is well below what competitors charge. A subscription I’m happy to pay (examples of others I feel happy to pay for are Raycast, Notion, ChatGPT, Superhuman etc).Version: 2.1.2

WowThis is Bookmark app is even better than I realized when I purchased it. The iCloud sync is literally perfect! And the customization options are deep, thoughtful, and well integrated throughout the app. The tag and folder system are particularly well thought out and Anybox is, perhaps, the speediest app of its kind when tagging links—tags come up instantaneously as typed. There seems to be no cruft or lag in this app, and I am beyond pleased with how well it works and how organized my links have become. The delightful touches are many..Version: 2.2.2

Outstanding Scriptable Native Pinboard/Raindrop replacementJust perfect. A beautiful native app for both mac and iOS, works just how you expect it to, imports form everything, and lets you keep additional text/image files in there too just for reference. Built in quick find, and hugely extensible via launchers. Lifetime payment is more than a fair price too, given the incredibly active development. If you’re looking for more control over your saved links, this is absolutely what you’re looking for..Version: 1.9.1

Wasn't sure if I needed...now I use it all the timeThis is such a well-designed app that helps reduce bookmark clutter. Instead of adding a new bookmark to an already extensive list of them, I can simply share to Anybox, assign a tag if I want, and move on. And there it is later, on my Mac and iPad and iPhone. Maybe there are similar apps, but I don't need to bother looking for them because this one has already become essential to my workflow. Kudos to the developer!.Version: 1.21

Seriously try this appThis is simply game changer. A beautifully designed and feature packed bookmark manager (though it also supports other data types). Some of the features that separate Anybox from others is the automation (quickfind, raycast extension, deeplinks) and archive options you have available. The archive options and integration alone make such a huge difference. I highly recommend this app..Version: 1.23

This is such a great app! This app has become indispensable to me. It's so versatile, so intuitive...and so integration-friendly. You can Share to it from anywhere, including via PopClip. It works with the fabulous Hookmark app. The Collections are so easy to work with. It just works, and it works exactly as you expect it to. I've tried a dozen different competitors...only Anybox gets it 100% right, IMO..Version: 1.22.2

Best-in-class bookmarking managerAnybox is the bookmarking manager I have wanted for years and has quickly become an essential tool in my workflow. The app's easy in / easy out philosophy with global shortcuts, URL schemes, and AppleScript support helps it to integrate seamlessly with other apps and existing workflows. This is a best-in-class app that I hope to use for years to come!.Version: 1.8.0

Asks for too much dataI've just started using it, the Safari plugin asks to read data off every page I browse it seems, which feels like overkill, when I'm not asking it to save from those pages. I neither want to give an app I don't know carte blanche to enter and gather data from everywhere I brose, nor do I want to constantly have to click more approval boxes, that are unrelated to anything I wish to do. I'm gonna give it a day, but this is starting very, very badly..Version: 1.19.1

Not cheap but worksTs a great bookmark manager, over priced and i dont need the dock feature. Just use it for a better boomark manager. like $30 seems excessive but reluctantly i bit. Syncs to icloud which i like. Update: You can easily alphabetize although its hidden right click on collections then sort by. The broken link checker works. sort of. Some of the links it said were dead still worked? And it would be nice to have it check these in the background and then just put them in a dead links collection to manage when you have time. Still all around the best bookmark manager i've seen!.Version: 1.20.4

Best Bookmark Manager at This Price LevelI’ve been using this app for over a month now and once you dig into all the features/ customization options and tune everything to your liking, the app really does shine. It has a lot of functionality..Version: 1.14

What a great app 😮‍💨Anybox is really easy to use and has a great interface. I was able to save many useful links and interesting images I found on the internet thanks to this app. I really recommend it!.Version: 2.2.2

Almost perfect!- Love that I can do a lot without opening the app by long press the app ! - allow me to add different types of info and link them together - but.. I wish that it can also saves highlights and links of a page like omnivore and raindrop. - also integration with obsidian would be make it even better!.Version: 2.0.2

Interesting Idea, needs another sync option. So far I do like this app, but I cannot use it to the fullest extent. I would use it quite frequently on my work computer, but unfortunately I can not sign in with iCloud due to it being a work computer. I would be able to sync with Dropbox, but that doesn't appear to be an option at all..Version: 1.19.1

THis is a fantastic appCan't say enough good things about this app. Very useful, well designed and complete. Many capabilities make this extremely versatile. Ive ditched a couple apps and consolidated things here. Even my projects and todo lists!.Version: 1.22.2

The link manager i've been wantingOffline first, and you can purchase a lifetime license! Uses CloudKit so syncing is simple and private. Organizing in collections gives the advantages of both tags and folders..Version: 1.7.0

Best Bookmark ManagerThe app is great but the only essential missing feature is the ability to organize bookmarks in folders, more specifically folders within folders not just to organize them in collections like right now..Version: 1.14.1

The best so farI’ve tried many of these types of apps this is the most feature rich and useful of them all..Version: 2.2.2

Excellent tool for creative writersAnd business folks, alike. Very intuitive interface makes this productivity tool a must-have for your apps..Version: 2.0.2

WOW!I think I will swith over from Raindrop... Just a fantastic and well polished app! This is like the Things 3 of book mark apps. I just wish for tags or maybe notes to add to my bookmarks :-).Version: 1.14.1

Great toolHigh quality APP, brought at first sight. Worked mostly as my expectations. Looking forward to the future release and functions..Version: 1.8.0

Love this AppPaid for lifetime access, I never want to be with out for savings for later..Version: 2.2.3

Love itThis app is perfect, so much better than Pocket. Clean & simple but with all the tools u need to organize your bookmarks, etc.Version: 1.18.5

The new icon was fine! But so is this newer one.Keep up the great work.Version: 1.10.3

Very usefulPlease don’t abandon this!.Version: 2.0

Almost there! Still very goodSo I have been using this application for almost two months now and it’s pretty awesome. It is definitely the prettiest and very stable stable bookmarking application that I have used. It is able to take in multiple formats and allows you to keep track of your bookmarks/notes/files/images that you put in it. It’s also very well integrated with the OS as you can share from any app directly to Anybox. However there is a fundamental way in which this application works that is keeping it from reaching it to its fullest potential and that is organization. In most bookmark applications and browsers (in any application that works with imported items really) the primary way bookmarks are organized is through a folder system. Meaning you can group multiple bookmarks together to put them in folders and even nest multiple folders in one another. From safari to chrome, this is how they work. The more advanced bookmark applications allow you to then tag these bookmarks as a secondary form of organization, you can then select this tag and everything you’ve attached it to shows up (think Finder in macOS) However Anybox skips the primary form of organization using folders and instead goes directly to the secondary form, tagging which is called “collections” here. Essentially, all the files that you import into the application are all placed in a single directory and the only way that you can organize them is by putting them into these “collections” (There is a useful smart list feature but that works more like an advanced filter than anything else.) Because it lacks the fundamental ability to group its items into folders, browsing through the base “links” page is inherently messy. More so if you import your bookmarks and already had them organized elsewhere. My only request now is that a folder organization system be added to the app. From there, nesting folders can be included. iCloud can be used for this, simply by having a default Anybox folder there and everything imported can retain its hierarchy for the main application to browse through. This will also come in handy when exporting items. Since bookmark files are so small, users could store a lot there. I think if this application does this, it will really dominate. The only real competitor it has is URL manager. I recommend the devs take a look at it. A lesser function that I think would be useful for this app is privacy enhancement. For one, people may store sensitive links in this app so it would be good to have someway to protect that, either by password protecting the app all together or specific sections in it. For another, it would be good to allow users to decide if these want specified sensitive bookmarks to appear in searches or not. Don’t need your kid to run a spotlight search for “x-men” and see results for other things, if you know what I mean. Despite all I’ve said, I really really do like this app. So much so that I have bought a lifetime license. I see a lot of potential in it. It’s new and growing. It doesn’t have many proper reviews which is why I’m writing this as proper feedback to the Devs. I hope they are able to sort out the lack of folder organization so the pro users can really kick this thing into high gear. Cause it definitely can be a powerful app if given the right features..Version: 1.12.2

Excellent app let down by half-baked tag supportI've been using Anybox for a few months now and love it. I've tried pretty much every visual bookmarking tool and Anybox is by far the best. The recent 2.0 release adds a number of much needed features and cleans up the UI a bit. The biggest disappointment about Anybox is the bizarre, non-standard approach to tags. With version 2, Anybox has renamed Collections as Tags and now allows these "tags" to be nested. Simply put, this is how folders work. This is NOT how tags work. I wish developers would start doing tags right. Anybox's tag implemention is confusing and non-standard. Tags are not supposed to exist in a hierachy, be nested, etc. What Anybox needs is a proper tag cloud for browsing/searching. If the developer wants to allow users to organize via nested folders, great, but they should be folders and they should act like folders. Tags should act like tags. What the developer has done in version 2 is basically create a Frankenstein out of these two concepts, which I think will confuse a lot of users and ultimately lead to more confusion around how tags SHOULD work. That said, Anybox is a fantastic app and despite the weirdness of version 2's tag implemention, it's still a big improvement over version 1. I strongly encourage the developer to go back to basics on some of these concepts. There should be both a nested folder hierarchy that behaves like folders (ie: if something resides in folder A, it cannot also reside in folder B). Tags should sit on top of this folder hierarchy with NO hierarchy of their own. Add a (much needed!!!) tag cloud for browsing and Anybox would be a perfect app!.Version: 2.0.1

还有很多功能不完善比如存档的内容在哪里啊?完全找不到.Version: 1.18.4

Near Perfect (Edit: thanks for explaining)I’m liking this app so far. Right now, the only thing I don’t like is that I can’t create new tags when bookmarking sites through the share sheet extension. I can only select existing tags and it doesn’t show subtags..Version: 2.1.5

WORTH EVERY CENTIgnore all the other users. Cancel your pocket, instapaper subscriptions and get into AnyBox. It’s such an incredible app. This is a pure genuine review. It’s the best link-organizer/life-organizer if you need to save things and find things. The fact that you can save docs to it and they open up correctly! Omg, take my money. Please. I save everything important in here..Version: 1.19

SurprisingGreat bookmarks manager with power users in mind..Version: 1.18.3

The ‘Best Save Later’ AppFast. Saves everything. Everywhere..Version: 1.18.2

Anybox is the perfect bookmarking appGreat app, very customizable and easy to use. I've been looking for an app just like this and Anybox delivered. Excellent job by the developer..Version: 1.7.0

Great private bookmarking appGreat replacement for raindrop.io or pinboard with added privacy since it syncs through iCloud. Lots of features and responsive dev..Version: 1.0
