This app WILL help you if you use itIf you struggle with getting life tasks done and/or feel as though you’re wasting your life on your phone, this is absolutely the app for you. It’s affordable for pro version but the free version is still very useful/helpful. I downloaded Be Present about three months ago, after seeing an ad from its creators (I really like when the app creators are the ones hocking the product for some reason! Explaining the problem they set out to solve, it clicks in my brain) and it really helped my screen time and my focus on things outside my phone. However, I was moving and I was super broke, I paid for one month of month to month and then I wasn’t able to continue. Today, after close to two months have passed and after reviewing my screen time from the day before on the free version (which by the way is still great, not tons of limits) I decided to go ahead and purchase a year subscription and challenge myself to use it for the full year. I will see what kind of changes this might allow me to make and update my review but for now, I’m excited to see where this will take me..Version: 0.18.24
It’s OkayI’ll probably continue looking for an app that works better. 1) Having to unblock whole categories of apps is not helpful. For instance, I need to listen to things while working. Sometimes music, sometimes podcasts that are only available on certain streaming platforms. But I don’t want to unblock all entertainment because then I’ll have access to things like Instagram and Reddit, which I really do want to block. I don’t want my streaming to count against my screentime because I’m not even looking at my phone. Allegedly this is an Apple issue, but the app still made it seem like if I paid for it, I would have control over what I block. 2) There aren’t actual rewards. There are advertisements. The only “reward,” besides enhanced productivity and reduced reliance on my phone, is the accrual of points, which is skewed due to item 1 above. 3) The schedules don’t work well. Sometimes they block apps, sometimes they don’t. I do all of my blocking manually. 4) There aren’t extra points for going over your blocking session. This actually ENCOURAGES me to interact with my phone more because if I want to maximize points, I have to start a new blocking session as soon as one finishes. Why not check a few apps while things are unblocked, right?! The app has promise, but definite room for improvement here..Version: 0.17.29
I like it so far but….I’m one of those people who clicks on my social media apps out of habit, even when I don’t really want to look at them. (I know I’m not alone here.) It’s just something to keep my mind and fingers busy. But I don’t get any joy out of it. If anything, it makes me more stressed out given the decisiveness on social media these days. So seeing those apps darken so I couldn’t click on them made me feel so free. That said, the day I started using this app, my daughter was admitted to the hospital. She has a very complex medical history, and we have a Facebook group to update friends and family on her, and so I needed to access the app several times that day to post updates. My final update came after night mode had started, and I felt so awful having to click “give up” when really I wasn’t giving up, I just needed to tell my family that she and I had arrived safely at the larger Children’s Hospital two hours from home. This wasn’t a matter of giving up. This was a matter of updating a large group of people who were very concerned about us, and I wasn’t going to put that off until morning, knowing the number of people who were waiting on an update. I really wish there was an option to give you a “freebie” on a limited basis basis (like 1-2x/month) for instances when you are logging on quite intentionally with a specific purpose. Clicking that give up button to make me feel bad because I knew I wasn’t giving up. And I wanted to turn night mode back on immediately after I posted my update, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it. I would love it so much more if night mode would automatically turn back on after a few minutes, or if there was a way to communicate with the app while you are choosing to turn off particular mode. 🤷♀️.Version: 0.18.13
PresentThis all is truly one of the best screen control apps out there to use. I’ve used apples default given one and another and simply wasn’t able to remain “present” with my time and spent countless hours simply wasting time on my phone everyday. BePresent over the course of a mouth helped me reduced me time in half. I would spend 14-15 hours a week on my phone and after BePresent I see it down to now 7. There app restrictions on strict and to the point that gets you focus on what your doing. Now, as much as this app help it’s a give and take simply downloading this app and thinking it’ll simply reduce your time just due to its presence on your screen won’t work. You need to decide and dedicate yourself to this to reduce your screen time. Even using it without paying the subscription still gives you tons of options to work with, so again if you wish to seriously cut your time download this app. The only problems that I have is that I can no longer see my screen usage from previous days on their app due to a glitch or if some kind and just stays on the loading screen no matter how many times I refresh the page or app. Thank you to the developers and God bless you for your work..Version: 0.18.79
Great Reminder to Set LimitsI’ve been using this app for months now and I have seen a significant decrease in the amount of time I spend on my phone. It’s important to note that you have to be engaged in this. It does force you to make decisions and that’s on you to chose if you want to maintain a reduced amount of time on your phone. It is very easy to get lost and lose track of time when you’re scrolling your phone. This keeps you accountable by setting reminders to let you know you’ve Ben on Facebook, etc. for 15 minutes and do you want to continue. It also sets lockout periods yet still allows you to use certain apps. I love this feature because it’s another decision point where I choose which applications I should routinely engage with versus this that are less important. All in all this application will not force you to be present. That is your choice. The app also keeps track of how many days you’ve stayed present. I’ve stayed consistent for 75 days blocking Facebook and other social media and I’m definitely happier for it..Version: 0.18.79
Helpful and easy to use!I saw an ad on social media (I think it was Insta) and figured I’d give it a shot. I started with a 10 minute limit for Facebook up to 20 minutes a day. It tells me how many times I’ve opened it that day and what my streak is for staying under the limits. It gives me a closing in 30 seconds warning, so I tend to finish what I’m doing or try to get one more post in. The most I’ve done is 19 times a day. I’m on a 196 day streak! Since I know I have a 10 minute window, I focus on and have a better experience than when I’d open it a bunch out of habit. Later, I added the same restrictions for Tumblr. I’m on a 116 day streak for that. Probably the most valuable part is the 9:30-5:00 Monday-Friday restriction. It let me choose 50 apps I could use during that time. It helps me focus on work. If it’s something I need, or if it’s a new app, I know how to go into my phone settings to allow it (I ended up doing that for Walgreens so I could reorder a prescription). I definitely recommend it! It makes me more mindful..Version: 0.18.79
The only thing that has workedI truly do not know why or how this works. But honestly, I am terrible about sticking with things, and though I will admit that downloading BePresent showed me just how much time I was wasting, which was pretty embarrassing, it has helped me so much. Especially the extra reminders when you tap on an app and you’ve already used your time up for the day. Also, the little app graphics are hilarious – – – I’m so glad they finally took the eyeballs off of the hiking phone because it was like he was wearing his backpack backwards — but honestly, this app has helped me tremendously. I hit a record of 200 days yesterday, and I can tell there are a few apps I need to add to the block list. Also, sometimes the only way I can focus at my work at home job is by starting a blocking session on my phone. I will continue to pay for this app as long as it continues to be awesome!!! Such a great investment! If I could just get my mom to use it, I feel like her whole life would be changed..Version: 0.18.76
Exactly as advertisedTrying to quit toxic screen time to reset my smooth brain and hide from all of the sneaky little ad providers. Also hoping to set aside more time to pursue a stable career and focus more on reaching a better point in life. BePresent really allows me to practice better discipline. Plus, it helps me develop better habits that make it easier to avoid contributing parts of my life to the potential threat of an AI uprising. I’m especially grateful for the way BePresent allows me to customize what kind of purposes I will be using my phone for. It’s not hard to tell that a lot of attention to detail had gone into this app and it seems like the devs really give a care about their customers. I’m still on the free trial for now, but I do think that a full membership is worth the extra bread, especially if you are someone who’s now waking up and realizing that you no longer want to waste anymore of your life contributing to the hidden agenda behind the otherwise inevitable downfall of humanity..Version: 0.18.79
PeaceI,be only just signed up for the free trial for 7 days. On my very first day, without trying very hard beyond setting up two goals, I exceeded my goal by 432%. Granted, the gamification and my competitive nature or stubbornness, made me think twice before caving. The peace and calm and quiet In my ever racing mind and emotions that are “too big” for most, was liberating. Day two, same calm and same peace until I decided to test myself against myself. I granted myself the for the first time in over 36 hours, a peek for 30 mins on the doom scroll. I don’t even think I made a full fifteen minutes in my old dopamine game before I shut it down myself without the app. Less than 15 minutes of my old habit, was already enough to recognize how bad that habit actually made me feel. I’m not here to say my experience is THE experience or that it will happen in similar time. I know that I want to continue working with this app, working on breaking my habit and feeling that calm, the peace and being present. I wish I had heard about this sooner. I wish I had started sooner. But I am grateful that I have it a try. That I am seeing my habit for what it is and seeing myself more clearly as well as my present. Thank you for taking a leap and doing something different. Different doesn’t have to be the dreadful thing we are all afraid of. Different can be what we make of it and I am so grateful that the developers took a chance to be different and shared something that might make the difference and “Different” a joyous thing..Version: 0.18.79
Worth every penny!I was told there was a free trial on this app that I should check out. My intentions going in were just to check it out and cancel. I’m here to stay and happily so! I love that you can individually tailor the apps you want to use less of. As most of these reviews state, the disappointment when the app won’t open, or when it shuts down is such temporary frustration. Getting hours of your life back per day, and taking control of your social media instead of letting it control you, is such a powerful feeling. My only complaint is, due to the price, I’m using it to break the doom scrolling addiction, but don’t plan on paying for it for life. I wish the company would consider a significantly cheaper monthly fee after the initial year of subscription as it doesn’t appear to take much on their part to maintain. Please consider a quick nickel subscription for life vs. a slow dime approach for a season of life..Version: 0.17.99
Developers care about the experienceI was having a few issues with the app and had a complete melt down. The developer not only reached out with a fix but also took the information and used it to fix the glitch! This app really helped me with my doom scrolling problem and made me realize dropping into a black hole of miserable online news stories doesn’t have to be how my morning begins. My two bits of advice are to just start with a few apps to freeze in the beginning and build on that instead of jumping into the deep end of the detox all at once and review carefully the steps to restore disabled apps in case you suddenly need to use one for work or something so you aren’t panicking in the moment. I do believe this app can really help folks and I got more productivity out of my day overall by blocking specific apps routinely..Version: 0.17.19
Honestly HelpfulLoses a star bc without paying it only works for one app, buuuut it still does a good job of keeping me from doomscrolling. TikTok stopped doing the whole “hey you’ve be scrolling for 20 mins, did you wanna do something with your life” alerts that I loved and this app does that. I now just use tiktok like 3ish times a day for 20 mins instead of a couple hours at a time even tho I’m able to open the app 6 times I just choose not to as much anymore bc it’s not as baked into my things to do bc can only open it for so long with this app. You can also change how many times you allow yourself to open an app so if you really want more one day you can but just have to make sure you change it back or else you get doomscrolling again. Good app, sometimes I hate scrolling for 5 mins and feeling I wasted an open and I wish I could use it for atleast one more app for free, other than that can’t recommend enough..Version: 0.18.81
This app changed my life in 2 daysI signed up for the free trial after a day when I’d spent 10+ hours on my phone and 2 of them on Instagram. The day I downloaded this app, my total time on my phone was 5 hours (downloaded midday) and I’d already spent 35 minutes on the social media apps. The third day (my full day with Be Present installed,) I spent 3 hours on phone and opened Instagram once. For a minute. I didn’t even scroll, I just responded to a few messages from friends. It’s like I can use social media for what it’s actually meant for, and I’m in control. It has permanently changed my relationship with my phone. I am shocked they allow this app to advertise on IG (where I saw an ad for it), because it will 100% ruin their business model. One thing I like about this app is that you can CHOOSE up to 50 apps that you want to be able to access during Blocking sessions and I actually used all 50 to make sure I could stick with it. So i kept all my work, travel, and banking related apps, stuff like maps and uber, iMessage, phone, wallet so I wouldn’t have to end a session because I was out in the world living my life. I also kept music, audible and podcasts because I use those apps while I’m out walking or doing chores. One thing i’m kinda bummed about is that my phone seems to record a bunch of screen time while i’m asleep (5 hours last night, 40 minutes the night before ?) with just random grey bars and I don’t know how to fix that. I’ll probably lose my streak today because of that, even if I mostly stay off my phone. I need it for maps and use it during workouts..Version: 0.18.6
Enter card info before seeing the app? Before payment, it would be nice to be able to see the product you’ve made. I am prompted to enter a payment method for your app before I’ve even seen the product. Yes, the payment wouldn’t start for 7 days after, but I would like to see the product before giving you my card. Also, I saw someone else say that the app makes the phone insanely laggy and unresponsive, with the developer response saying that the app isn’t designed to do that. It may not be designed to do that, but during the step of allowing screen time access to this app, the phone is very laggy and unresponsive. Typing a word on the keyboard takes 20s. I don’t know what’s happening in the background, but something isn’t coded correctly. I’m sure the product is good, but I don’t think I’m going to enter my card information before seeing the app. Maybe I’ll change my mind, idk..Version: 0.18.73
Trial ReviewI haven't even had this app 24 hours and I'm already seeing value. I'm going to give five stars but come back and edit or add a new review if I find something that would be significant enough to reduce my rating. The first thing I noticed when I got to the app page, I saw #61 in productivity apps that is incredible!! I agree with another comment that it would be helpful to have more flexibility of blocking specific apps however, I realize there's a way you can back into that by blocking all, and then coming back and allowing certain apps I believe in the app set up it guided you through that process however, when going back to edit and allow an additional app took me several clicks to figure it out I got this to help me manage my doom scrolling onto social media apps. I am very optimistic! Thank you for finally creating something for the good of the world in hopes of salvaging our humanity..Version: 0.18.29
Surprisingly goodI’ve tried a lot of screen time or focus apps, and this is the only one I’ve found worth paying for. It takes some time to set up and adjust to make the right balance between too restrictive and just right, but once I found it, it magically reduced my time on brain drain apps. After using it for 4 months the iOS 26 update briefly caused it to stop working properly (it’s fixed now) but in the three days where I had it off my screen time skyrocketed. It’s a relief to have it back on. The intentions feature is the killer feature here, I get to use my favorite time killer apps for a bit, but it turns off the faucet after preset intervals. I don’t feel like overriding and I still get a little access. Really great especially as someone who works in tech/media and needs to access these apps a bit during the day..Version: 0.18.13
Such a great help!I’m just using the free version to control my Facebook usage at the moment, but I’m 8 days into my streak. I love that it puts my phone to bed for me at 10:00, like I set it to, and I actually go to bed instead of continuing to mindlessly scroll. I’m getting more sleep. It makes me stop and think before I open Facebook every time I have a minute with nothing better to do, especially because it uses up 10 minutes of my daily allotment every time I open it, so I have to save it for when I have a full ten minutes to spare. I don’t like that very much, because sometimes I just need to check an event location or end up getting distracted with something else and end up wasting 8 of my 10 minutes on Facebook. Buuut I guess that’s not all bad, and I can always change the settings. Thank you for this app!.Version: 0.18.11
Didn’t even last a week before buggy behavior became unbearableThis app is buggy. It also has ridiculous arbitrary restrictions on schedules: no schedules can overlap, schedules have to be at least 20 minutes, schedules have to be under 12 hours. These restrictions have no explanation behind them, leading me to believe they are arbitrarily enforced for no reason. Furthermore, I am not able to make a weekend schedule. If I do, it only works for saturdays. I have to create 2 identical separate schedules, one for Saturday and one for Sunday. This is frankly ridiculous. I didn’t even make it through the free trial, there is no way I’d pay a subscription fee if the app (a) is going to needlessly restrict scheduling and (b) is it even going to actually work as described. This app puts way too much focus in being a form of social media instead of helping people get off their phones. Pretty disappointing, will continue to try other focus apps until one actually works as intended..Version: 0.18.23
Might help some peopleI have a very strong mindfulness meditation practice, but I still find myself occasionally scrolling for too long on Instagram and using my phone as a distraction. This app seemed like a wonderful idea and I love the name and concept, so I thought I'd give it a try. Like some others have stated, it offers you a free trial followed by a year long subscription, and if you don't accept that it will offer you 60% off. The catch is if you take the discount, you don't get a free trial and they charge you right away. And I very quickly realized that the app doesn't work for me. It has too many features and things I don't need and I actually find it a little bit overwhelming and excessive. That said, I do think it could be helpful for a lot of people. I find that downtime is a suitable option for me and basically just a simplified version of what this app is. But if you like having a streak and a bunch of different options to connect with people, track progress, receive gifts and reminders, and if phrases like "please I'm begging you open instagram" deters you from opening it, you might love this app. I'd personally rather work on my mindfulness practice and addiction to distraction as a whole which also helps lower screen time. Apple denied my two requests for a refund, they deny 95% of my requests which is very frustrating because they are all authentic and valid requests, but I reached out to the company and they were very friendly and did offer me a one time refund after I explained what happened. And I appreciate that they responded and offered this refund which most companies don't. I don't think it's a scam, but I did tell them that I felt like I was sort of tricked into buying a subscription and for an app that is meant to improve your well-being, to push so hard for someone to make a purchase just doesn't feel very aligned with their purpose. However, I do understand that everyone needs to make a living and if this app does help people use their phone less then that is wonderful..Version: 0.18.19
Used during the free trialI am really impressed with this app. I started out thinking that I was only going to use this app to see how much I don’t use my phone. My son probably used it more than I did. But then I noticed that I use it a lot more than I really thought. I also started to see that you can get points for not using your phone and “being present” and apps like that are my FAVORITE so the fact that I could wake up every morning and spin and collect my points made it that much more fun for me enjoy this app. I also really enjoyed the “Tip of the Day” and I even took their suggestion and switched my phone to grayscale. Unfortunately, I can’t pay for the monthly fee as I am on a fixed income. But I really did it and if I ever purchase an app. It will be this. I enjoyed so many functions on this app..Version: 0.18.79
Love the ideaSo far I’m loving this app already and I love the idea behind it. What a great challenge and it is something I’ve been wanting to do because it can be so easy to run to this even as an anxiety tool. Which is cool but not always healthy. I want to be a better example to my kids and I know it starts with me. Even if I’m the only one who does it amongst my peers, friends, and family - that’s ok. I just want more life back but it can be so distracting with the phones ringing, buzzing, and social media to just be right there. Thankfully I’ve been able to have been working on having sound off on my phone just for the purpose of not always having to hear calls or texts. I made only the ones who are necessary able to come through. I will give an updated review after a week of using!.Version: 0.18.26
Game changer!!This app is the answer I had been looking for to help me moderate my time on Social Media without having to just uninstall the apps. I love that it allows me to set a goal of number of times I open and for how long my session lasts. AND even more, if I absentmindedly click a link to social, it asks me if I am sure I want to visit the site now. Most of the time that is just enough to remind me that is not what I am supposed to be doing right now. I also don’t get nearly as distracted when I access the apps or get sucked into a rabbit hole from which I emerge an hour later blurry-eyed and wondering what happened. I get on with intention, look at what I need or want to look at, and get out. My goal for Facebook has been set for 5 opens at 5 minutes a piece and I have found that adequate for my casual use. I have made the goal for over 60 days now. I also love the morning ninja session that keeps almost everything locked down until I have done my prayer, meditation, and workout so those healthy habits don’t get way-laid by a message someone sent me that I see first thing in the morning. This app is kind of pricey, but I honesty felt I got my money back for the annual subscription within a couple of days because of all the time I didn’t waste. Definitely paid back in the first few weeks without doubt. Time is money and this will save you lots of time and put money back in your pocket. My only complaint is the screen latency if you do want to end your session for some reason. It frequently seems very unresponsive when I click the button and does not appear to be part of the design. I have also had my phone lock up quite often when I’m trying to add apps to the allowed app list. These glitches are annoying but it’s still worth it. One suggestion would be to change the add app function to have two settings. One to permanently add to the allowed list and one to add just for the day or week. Sometimes there is something I really need to monitor or address first thing in the morning that requires an app that I don’t want to be part of my on-going allowed list. It would be nice if it would change back to not allowed after a day or week and I didn’t have to manually go change it..Version: 0.18.19
Great ideaI’ve been trying to cut back on screen time, even using the tools that Apple offers but it isn’t always enough. The idea that this app presents is nice and a couple of times I’ve been mad that I can’t open an app after so many times. The rewards are interesting but I hope more options come available. Even gift cards or coupons to popular restaurants/stores. I would also like to see a feature where one could note what’s happening that day and why they are trying to access certain apps more than usual. I had to break a streak today for Facebook only because I’m at the emergency vet with my cat and I’m trying to keep folks updated. That can allow me to reflect back later and see it want because of boredom that I kept going into that app. Anyway, thanks for this, it’s been challenging me in so many ways..Version: 0.18.68
Effective! That little pause was what I needed.I was surprised at how easy and effective Be Present was in quickly curbing my screen time on my phone. That little bit of friction has really cut the auto ‘scroll’ mode. Also, when a friend has posted something significant, I am able to access - or I use my computer to check I. Either way necessary/wanted online information or entertainment. Moving away from quick, on-demand access in my hand to sitting in an uncomfortable chair at the dinner table to watch a Live from an author or to catch up with family in another state is a more effective model than being hung up in the algorithm for hours. Daily tips are helpful, too. Highly recommended for curbing and quitting the ‘scroll’ and managing your online consumption..Version: 0.18.79
This App Is A Game Changer! So helpful!I use this app daily and I’ve got to say, it’s a beautiful concept. I’ve noticed that my screen time has dropped dramatically thanks to the hourly reminders! One of my favorite parts of the app is the calculator that shows you how much time you’re getting back across your lifetime by saving X hours per day. It really puts how much time we waste into perspective and reminds me of why I wanted to make it a point to be more present to my surroundings instead of my phone. I liked this app so much that I reached out to the founders to understand their mission, and they care so much about the user experience and getting people less dependent on their phones. We need more apps like this one in the world! Thank you Jack and Charles for bringing such a wonderful idea to life! Cheers.Version: 0.17.45
Actually worksMy social media use has been wildly reduced, and my random mindless scrolling or doomscrolling largely eliminated as a result. My ability to focus on long-form content and generally not constantly reach for my phone is sooo much better. Sometimes I forget where my phone is entirely (maybe only downside?? Haha). I read 4 novels in the last week and a half, and it would previously take me weeks if not months to read ONE because I’d put it down after a chapter to check my phone, and before I knew it I would end up on my coworker’s cousin’s 10-year-old IG photos somehow. NOT ANYMORE. Granted, you have to genuinely care about following your own rules and maintaining your streaks and/or climbing the leaderboard, it’s not magic, but when it’s effective it is EFFECTIVE..Version: 0.18.79
Good app, but after a while there are loopholesI really do like this app. It cut down a lot of my time doomscrolling on insta, but I do think that it is somewhat to easy to get around the amount of times you can open the app and still keep the streak. If I had it for 10x a day for 5 min a day and had a 20 day streak I could easily change it to 15x a day for 5 min have have 25 more minutes on instagram that day, and then change it to 10 days again like nothing happened. I also think that the notifs that say that an app is closing in 30 seconds should say what app bc you could have multiple closing. Beyond that the app is overall good and it is well coded. I think with some overall improvements on the streak loophole it would be a 5 star for me..Version: 0.18.79
HelpfulThis app has dramatically helped reduce my screen time and doom scrolling. being repeatedly interrupted in my scrolling and told to go elsewhere has also helped me pivot naturally and improved my concentration ig. I've seen some of the negative reviews saying the app's points/rewards system is broken or unfair - if that matters to you, you're cooked, sorry. I barely open the app itself. my only critique is that it would be really helpful to have some kind of automatic timer overlay everytime you open a selected app so that you can spend your time more wisely and don't get interrupted in the middle of a video or writing a comment. if i knew what time i had left i could avoid both scenarios. but otherwise amazing app that has dramatically improved my mental health..Version: 0.18.26
A great tool that every “scroller” needsI stopped using social media last year and up until now had no issue managing my screen time. Recently I got back on instagram and realized I was staying on it way too much throughout my day and I was neglecting the more important things in life, like living! So I downloaded this app and I set limits to how much screen time and how many times a day I will use this app without getting stuck. I like it because it closes the app for you after you reached your limit which is based on the setting that you made on your own. You can tweak or adjust that if you need more or less time. And the best part is if you keep your word on these goals that set, you get rewarded! Thanks BePresent, for an awesome app!.Version: 0.18.79
Med student and momMy biggest problem was my phone. All my friends noticed that. I was always on it. I needed a way to stop myself and this app has been it. I wouldn’t get up in the morning because I’d spend and hour hopping from app to app. Now I get 10 mins and I’m up. I’d catch myself on my phone while my no-screen time toddler played and now I’m playing with her and being present for her. When studying, if my brain got bored, it would pick up my phone and I got distracted. I’ve been having better quality studying. It gives you that extra second of “are you sure?” Reminding me to stay on track. It also makes you feel bad kind of by saying you have to click the “I give up” button. So it’s helpful. Definitely recommend..Version: 0.18.17
Eternally gratefulI used to look at people scrolling on their phones and think they were losers wasting their life away. I actually turned into one of those losers too because it TURNS OUT these companies do actually spend an insane amount of money to keep you addicted to your phone and they even got me. I’m writing this review at 4:09 PM. I woke up at 10 AM and my battery is on 80%. Thank you so much to the brothers and the developers for this app. It has really helped. When I first started, the analysis said I would spend 20 years on my phone… that’s when it hit. I will update in a while because it’s really hard for me to stick to things but I’m praying I can keep up with this. I think the accountability feature will help..Version: 0.18.82
Easy, effective app that’s also fun to use!I downloaded this app off in hopes of better productivity. I really struggle with screen time, even when I’m super aware of it! Originally I really liked the betting against myself (basically if I lost, I had to pay) and although it’s been sunsetted, I’ve now learned more about the competitions against others as well as my friends! I used to average 4-5 hours a day, now with Present I’m below 3 on a daily basis, sometimes even below two. I LOVE that it notifies me of time increments spent, and gives me warning when I’m getting close to hours spent on my phone. I also was blown away when the founder of the company sent out an email asking for a phone call to give feed back. Thinking I’d speak to a staff member (or even a machine) I was PLEASANTLY surprised to hear from Jack himself! I love the fact that an app developer is still staying on top of feedback from his “customers”! All around, the app is super useful of making me more mindful about my screen time. Even as I write this review 😂 I’m still working on inviting my friends to compete with me (which I find super cool) and getting my family on board as well!.Version: 0.2.3
It actually worksI’ve been using this app now for over 200 days and it’s the only thing that’s actually rewired habits to address social media addiction. After using BePresent for that long, I find that a lot of days I don’t even think to open Instagram. I’ve set up my account to “allow for” 1 hour total a day, in 10 minute increments. If I want to open the app, it’s an intentional decision and the use it or lose it approach once you’ve begun your session has also made it so that often, even if I’ve opened the app 6 times that day, I may not have even been on for an hour total. It’s been a total game changer and I highly recommend the small subscription fee to help curb your habits with your phone..Version: 0.18.79
App does work and customer service is amazingThe app does work. It really keeps you motivated to stay away from the apps that consume most of your time. It’s super fun that they give you points and rewards and you even compete with people for who’s staying away from their phone the longest. It’s very helpful if you’re committed to quit your addiction. Also, I had to cancel my membership due to financial reasons and customer service helped me with no questions asked. I could have done it my self from my phone but I lost access to the email I opened the account with so I had to have them cancel it for me. I’m loving the app and the company. 100% recommend. As soon as I can afford it, I’m back on it..Version: 0.18.65
I love this app. It’s almost perfect! This app has helped so much in being cognizant of my social media consumption! I didn’t realize how often I just gravitated towards opening socials and doom scrolled. My only complaint is that I wish the timer would pause while you’re not on the app. If I can open Instagram 3x per day, 10 minutes each and I only open it for 2 minutes, I wish that the timer would save the 8 minutes for the next time I opened it. I find that it creates this hyper focus and I put everything else (conversation and attention to those around me) on the back burner because I only have a small window of time to use socials to unwind. It’s also annoying if I want to show someone a video then it means that I burn one of my uses to spend 30 seconds..Version: 0.18.13
Better than Screen TimeI tired Apples Screen Time but I wasn’t a fan of the immediate availability to end the screen time block for 15 minutes or the entire day. With BePresent, you can restrict certain apps so that you only use it 10 minutes at a time 4 times a day, which is how I have it setup. It is completely customizable. I also have it scheduled to completely block access from certain apps Mon Thur Fri from 9-5 so that I can be present with my daughters. To turn it off I would have to go into settings, so for me it keeps me from doing it versus with Apples Screen Time I could suspend the block straight from the app. BePresent is just user friendly compared to Apples Screen Time. I love it..Version: 0.18.22
This app actually worksI’ve tried other screen time apps before, but I always end up overriding them or finding a workaround. This is the first one that’s actually worked for me. My screen time has decreased significantly, and I’ve become much more intentional with how I use my phone. I originally planned to cancel after the trial, but I ended up keeping it because it’s the kind of support I need to stop mindlessly scrolling and letting the algorithm pull me into distractions. If you’re someone who genuinely wants to spend less time on your phone but struggles with the literal addiction social media apps have given us all, this app is worth trying. It’s made a noticeable difference for me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.Version: 0.18.79
So Effective!I have recommended this app to everyone I know. I really appreciate how customizable the app blocking settings are. Before BePresent, I would give myself (for example) 45 minutes on Instagram, and then end up using it all at once, and then bypassing the block settings later. Now, I can give myself 7 minutes at a time, and space my use out over the day, and it's so much easier to stick to the limits that I've set for myself. My app intentions streaks for all of my social media apps are at over 300 days of not exceeding my limits. I've gradually been able to decrease my screen time significantly, and I feel confident that BePresent will help me to continue that progress..Version: 0.18.81
Best app for reducing screen timeI’ve been using this app for several months and it helped reduce my screen time significantly. The competition aspect and trying to reach the next level and not be demoted is very motivating. Often I decide not to open an app because I don’t want to cancel my present session and lose the points. That said, it’s glitchy, especially the ability to see my current screen time or previous day, often its blank even after refreshing or closing the app. I also wish I could select specific apps that don’t count instead of just 2 categories. If I use maps, for example, I’ll go over my screen time goal because it’s not one of my categories. Overall though it’s the best screen time app I’ve tried!.Version: 0.18.13
Great concept, minor bugsI love this app, it really does make me more present in the moment and limits my screen time. The scoreboard feature is actually motivating even though it is pretty meaningless. The only issue is sometimes my present sessions will not get logged or get logged incorrectly and it sometimes doubles it. For example I have a present session from 6:00-8:30 and 9:00-12:00 and sometimes if I don’t open the app until after 9 it thinks I completed the 9:00-12:00 too and gives me the xp for it. There’s also minor bugs I noticed but generally speaking it’s a great concept for an app and I think it will get even better over time. I wish there were some more rewards but the ones there are great. Overall a good app..Version: 0.18.31
Highly recommendThis has really helped me stop doom scrolling on my phone. I’m adding it to my iPad now..Version: 0.18.13
Hidden pricingLooked like a promising app. I wasn’t expecting it to be free. But it would be nice if they were upfront with the pricing. Example display the price in the App Store. Instead of taking my time and basically getting my email. Then telling me the cost..Version: 0.17.75
4.6/5I’m keeping it short and sweet. This is an amazing app where it’s nearly perfect but there is one annoying part. If you want to change things it asks you to pay (you don’t have to) and it pops up too much..Version: 0.17.61
Actually worksI’m very motivated to use my phone less. It has some features that need some tweaking but overall very effective.Version: 0.18.26
Got me off social mediaThis app has made me more intentional about my phone use. The blocking of my social media apps is like a reminder bell of whether or not I actually want to go on. Most of the time I end up deciding no. It has cut down my scrolling significantly..Version: 0.18.83
Neat idea for an appI tried this app out today because I liked the idea of it. However, without paying for pro, it won’t let me exclude my navigation apps from the timer. This means that it’s recording my commute every day, which sometimes adds up to almost three hours round trip, so the reporting is totally inaccurate, which makes the app kind of useless..Version: 0.17.70
Good stuffJust wish it was cheaper!! But I really benefit from it.Version: 0.18.83
Two days in and I LOVE ITSo far, I’m super happy with this app. It promises everything it says: it’s got motivating factors and challenges, and I just really appreciate how every time I feel the addiction itch, a notification gives me the option of “be present” or go ahead anyway. And I of course like the option of being present much more. Life had much better things to be present to than what my phone can offer..Version: 0.18.83
Great app, easy to use and reduced my screen timeWorks well and I’ve been able to reduce my screen time.Version: 0.18.83

Oh wow!I love that this app uses the same algorithms as the social sites to help me because it works! It’s fun to be rewarded for not being on social media 😉. And I feel better because I’m more present in everyday life. 10/10!!.Version: 0.18.83

Works but can’t justify the costOnly 2 days in and my screen time has gone down and I’m much more aware of my doom scrolling! However I already cancelled before being charged because $80 a year is crazy.Version: 0.18.83

Cured me of my social media addictionSo thankful for this app. All I needed was to introduce some annoying roadblocks to using social media in the form of time limits app blocking during set times. Yes you can bypass it, but the annoyance of having to do that each and every time I wanted to mindlessly scroll meant that it wasn’t long before the impulse faded and a much healthier relationship with my phone prevailed. Thank you! I am now much more Present!.Version: 0.18.81
The first one that’s stuck - 264 days and countingThis works great. I love that you can set app intentions. That feature alone has completely killed my instagram/facebook reel addiction and I’m happy to say that I’m 264 days free of doomscrolling!.Version: 0.18.81
