Texas Hold’em App Comments & Reviews
Texas Hold’em Positive Reviews
Lengthy sometimes but great!I was in a game for nearly 3 hours before I kept folding too much and eventually lost and got 2nd place. The very next game all players got eliminated in almost 10 minutes. I had eliminated everyone and gotten there by getting 2 Flushes in a row betting 3000 chips at a time to get everyone to go all in. I was left with one guy who had a measly 225 chips left haha. He got me with a pair of 10’s but then the next hand I got him eliminated with a pair. I got 1st place! That whole game took about a little over 10 minutes. It can be very fun once you start getting good hands. But can be aggravating when you get bad hand after bad hand and the other guy bets 800 chips for no reason even though he has bad cards. Good tactic to boot the other person out. Sparky is a little devil! Good ad free game and I will continue to play..Version: 2.1
Fun Game. Needs More Levels. A Little BuggyThe game is fun and I suppose challenging enough to hold interest. The ability to swipe away and pick back up later is nice as I don’t regularly sit down for a long play of Poker but will try to win a few hands while on hold or something. I’m up to $9.3 million in winnings which is where it starts to get a little boring. I would have to go on a 93 game losing streak to get back to square one so there is no longer any risk. I’d like to see more levels or higher stakes as I can only play in Macau so many times before I want to do something else. It is a little buggy at times. The pot payouts routinely show much less than you actually won. Say you win $25k in a hand… the display may show $9800 but the $25k actually gets put into your chip stash. It can be confusing to see but at least the money all makes it in and you don’t lose your winnings. I have noticed that I have been dealt the same hand as many as three times in a row in a game indicating something off with the “shuffling”. Overall it’s a fun game that doesn’t take much effort to play and isn’t serious or overly competitive..Version: 2.1
25% Fun, 75% Ridiculous unrealistic Bot hands! This app could be a lot more fun if it wasn’t for the Botched programming! Really? I guess their trying to be like Vegas House? In real poker, u’ll never see as many 4 of a kinds, full houses, flushes, Etc etc! Bots betting with a 2 & 5 going all in against a pair of Aces & guess who pulls a straight every time… not me! 2 Kings-forget it, they’ll pull 2 Aces🤷♀️With this app, the Bots get them nearly Every hand. Bots tend to kno ur hand before u do! Most of the time I’ve gotta Lose up to 10 games before I'm allowed to win that’s how bad it gets. Has potential if it’s reprogrammed in a realistic manner. Graphics are really nice, table setting & avatars are cool too. Except for the unrealistic ridiculously So called Luck the bots have? overall a very nice programmed app. Has potential to be a 5 star app! I would NOT recommend this app for someone learning or a beginner. Way too Frustrating & jaw dropping with “Bot” Plays! Just read/see ALL the critical reviews. Or not & see for ur self. Again, app has potential to be One of the Better poker apps available if fixed accordingly!.Version: 2.1
Good game. Few glitchesI am 100% blind, and the fact that this game is fully accessible is really awesome! The only problem is there is a few glitches. For example, when I first start the game and play for a few minutes or so the game plays really good. I get nice random hands that I can play off of. After a while of playing it seems like it stops giving me random hands, and it starts giving me one high card and one low card every time. I tested this by folding every time, and it happened at least 18 times in a row before I just quit. Another glitch seems to be when I actually do win, the game simply won't let me collect my earnings or continue to the next screen. Sometimes it will literally kick me out of the game completely. Other times it will keep my same cards, it will let me bet, then it tells me who wins. Then it just repeats. I have played this game in both Portrait, and landscape mode. I have an iPhone 13 that's only one year old, so I doubt it's my phone. Thank you for reading my review..Version: 2.1
Great Fun with Apple’s Texas Hold ‘EmI just discovered Apple’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” game a few weeks ago. The only poker I had ever played before was Caribbean Stud, and that was on cruise ships. I was very lucky for some odd reason - got four 9’s two years in a row…AND the dealer qualified both times…talk about holding your breath! LOL!! Anyway, re: Apple’s cast of characters in the “single player” setting, what I want to know is what’s up with a few of the female characters who are at the games regularly but play poker like someone forgot to tell them the object of the game or how to play??!! LOL. Oh well, good luck to all my fellow Texas Hold ‘Em fanatics!! (I guess there’s nothing like unpredictability to keep a poker player on her - or his - toes?) 😁.Version: 2.1
Same ol pokerEvery poker game I download seems like the computer knows the cards before they flip. At first I thought I was being paranoid. But then I paid close attention. The first 3 cards were 2,4,7 and the computer went all in. And I was puzzled because it wasn’t a flush and I had a pair of kings. Then the flop and river flipped and it was a 3 and a 6. The computer had a 5 and a jack. The next time the cards were 3♠️ , k♦️, 9♠️and I had a pair of queens. The computer went all in for a total of $3,000+. The flop and river were a 2♠️ and k♠️ computer ends with a flush having a 5♠️ and a 7❤️. When I first got to the cruise ship the first 5 hands were last card flushes whenever I had the winning pair going into the flop. It’s an entertaining game, but when you start going to different levels your cards are horrible. The skill of the computer doesn’t grow. They just give them high cards constantly. Or will bait you in knowing the other players know what’s coming next. The logic should be to keep the cards random and have the computer learn how to manage their cards better as you go on. It’s not a complete deal breaker as i stated before, all poker games do this. Even some spades games also. Aside from this - the game is solid. you can tell the developers wanted to produce a great game. Once/if this gets fixed I will return and upgrade to 5 stars..Version: 2.1
Good Learning App… but it could be way better.Three main suggestions : 1) it would be very helpful to provide a way to review or walk through the logic of payouts in cases when there are multiple pots & eligible winners… current state goes through it too fast and makes it harder to understand the split logic… especially when you think you should have won at least a part of the total money. 2) improving on the color coded hand strength to include a percentage of the likelihood of a winning hand based on what is in a player’s pocket + community cards would be better than coloration. 3) it would be helpful to save the history of a game from all players’ perspectives to review afterward. This would help players see/learn where they need to strengthen decision making based on what other players are seeing and doing in playing their hands..Version: 2.1
It’s a bit like a cheesey movie...You know, the kind of movie where the gang of crooks have set up a scam game, and know what the mark (that’s you) has, what cards they will be dealt. I have had players go all in right off, have a seemingly unbeatable hand, and get wiped out because one of the bots has a higher hand that they should not have known was coming. They make bets that are a little too perfect. Apple needs to make the deals truly random. You win what seems to be a fixed percentage, and can tell when it is your turn to advance. If you play the Garage, you can accumulate quite a bit of money to pay entry fees, but you risk losing a large amount. And the bots are all rather nasty characters. They are arrogant, smug, even vulgar. If you are playing in portrait, they can be quite annoying. At least in landscape you are spared that. Please Apple, make it a realistic game. It is too predictable..Version: 2.1
Glad you’re backI loaded this on to my iPod Touch years ago and absolutely loved this game. Great graphics, good card action and betting. Then the Touch gave way to other brands of phones until finally I bought the iPhone 7. I hunted through the offline poker section of the App Store. Only found a handful of apps. I didn’t want to sign in to the world poker tour app and have to buy chips. Then one day I found this version. Christmas arrived early this year. Thanks for bringing this back. It’s a straightforward yet engaging way to play..Version: 2.1
Good could be Great. This is a really cool app and one that I think you guys at Apple should keep working on and adding too. (please) In single player, Instead of hands insta skipping after folding.. I would like to see how the hands play out. It allows me to see who bets when and on what cards. ( for example is someone ships it all on ace high they are a weak player.) - adding an option in settings so players can decide whether they want hands to skip or play out after folding would be amazing. Also a different dealer would be nice. I’ve only seen one guy so far. And it’s hard to blame the dealer for bad cards or bad dealing when it’s one dude lol. An option to tip the dealer would be cool too for immersion, especially after big hands or hitting a set or full house on the river. Overall big fan of the app. I really hope you guys keep improving on it as it could easily become the #1 poker game in the market. Oh and let me keep my chips after I win in single player smh. 😂.Version: 2.1
Good game horrible algorithmI really enjoy the game but the algorithm is horrible. Very little reality in the game almost to the point you can anticipate what is going to happen. Example: player will move all for 50k only leaving 3k behind...when this happens push all in and the bot will fold. Another example: The bots will also call an all in with no draw and no pairs only to runner runner 2 pair. Once again, it’s a good game but would be better if more realistic algorithm was applied. If you can’t win at this game you have no reason playing poker at all. You can anticipate the moves of the bots. Went from 0 to 110 million +. I’ll keep playing until I get to 1 billion. Maybe another level after Macau would be good!.Version: 2.0
Plenty of fun, but…Easily the best looking poker game out there, the UI is great and it’s just an Apple classic. That being said, it’s so very clear that it’s rigged, as the cpu players make their bets clearly knowing what the final cards will be, they don’t bet what’s on the table. You’ll regularly see another player have nothing on a flop, but go all in and end up with a flush or something by the river, baiting you into chasing what seems like a bluff. It’s one of those games that you can pull off some big hands, gets you feeling good, then basically doesn’t allow you to win, making it not feel very skill based. If it gets an AI update, it’ll be an easy 5 stars..Version: 2.1
Program does not correctly apply ranking rulesThis is to report a problem with the app applying hold ‘em card ranking rules. Specifically, it does not account for kickers in hands where both players have the same two pair. Example: I was heads up and had KQ. My opponent had K7. We were both all in. The board came A A K 9 6. No flushes were in play. The app split the pot, even though I was the winner. Specifically, my hand was two pair, aces and kings with a queen kicker. My opponent’s hand was also aces and kings, but with only a 7 kicker. This should have resulted in a win for me, not a split pot. Just letting you know..Version: 2.1
Gameplay ProblemsI have two problems with the gameplay in the single player mode. The first is the game speed. The speed is so high and the player actions are so fast that it’s hard to process which opponent did what. There is no way to slow the speed closer to something realistic. The second problem is that once you fold, the action immediately jumps to the payoff so you don’t know what happened, just who won. There needs to be an option to watch the hand play out. That would give an opportunity to observe and understand each opponent’s playing style..Version: 2.1
Fantastic funI love this poker app. You start from nothing and you build your way up until you get to the 100,000 buy in. Costs you nothing to play and you have lots of fun while you’re at it. The trick to win is you fold 90% of the time until you get to the final table and your goal is to get at least third place so you fold and fold and fold until you have a solid hand and then wait till you get third place and try to get first after that. I have over 8 million chips doing it this way..Version: 2.1
Yes!I used to looooove this app game. I’m not sure if I misunderstood by them saying ..we’re back”, that being the reason why I could not find this game for years and thinking I was a perfect idiot. Hey not that this disproves that but we can feel a little better now. Anywho, very thankful to the developers, the world in hardship as it is, and this game being one of, even if minuscule, life’s little-to-no-effort pleasures of owning an apple product. Gee I mean after my idk how many now products purchased from them, I hope I’ve earned it ;).Version: 2.1
Apple Texas hold’emI did thank you for bringing back Texas hold’em classic. This my first game on the iPhone 4. It’s slowly lose some of it’s feature first the cards sound and then The music as apple upgraded their software. After iPhone 6 I was so sad playing the other poker game. After playing the game it was better when you beat The garage room and move on to aquarium room game if you lost it took you back to garage room Game. Now I play any room. A haven’t play Multiplayer room..Version: 2.1
Overall a great appOverall this is a fun poker app, especially since it is free and ad-free. A couple things I'd like to see would be some "quick bet" buttons with various dollar amounts or 1/2 pot bet options so I don't always have to "dial in" my bet. Secondly would be an option to always skip the "acting" in portrait mode. Sometimes it's just easier to hold the phone that way but I dislike the cutaways most of the time. Really enjoy the app!.Version: 2.1
Too Much TappingPlease! Please! Please! 1) Reduce the tapping by: Have the betting wheel automatically appear when it is your turn to bet. This both serves as a reminder and reduces the tapping making the play more enjoyable. 2) Reduce the size of the pop up during heads up play as it obscures too much of the table when in landscape mode. 3) Remove all the the clutter of sea shells, etc. from the table on the seaside setting. Tables should be clean and not cluttered. Please consider these changes too make the play much more enjoyable..Version: 2.1
Fun but flawedPositives: the interface is simple and intuitive, it's fun to play, and it's free Negatives The computer AIs are pretty bad. They will chase flush and straight draws almost no matter what odds they're getting (for example, they will regularly call your monster bet when they have 3 of 5 flush/straight cards after the flop), and if they have an ace or king, it's a similar story (though better). They will also call somebody else's all-in with their own all-in when they have garbage (even if you think I'm bluffing and don't have a made hand, you shouldn't call my all-in when you have 3 6 off suit). The random number generator seems off. I regularly get the same hand twice in a row and the number of bad computer hands that are bailed out on the river seems higher than it should be (related to my flush/straight comment above). Overall: fun game, but don't expect this to train you for WSOP play..Version: 2.1
Could be so much betterThe basic premise is good - no limit Hold’em tournaments varying from 1-4 tables. The bigger ones have bigger buy-ins (no money involved). It’s offline so the other players are all run by computer algorithms. However, they don’t give you enough chips considering how aggressive and ridiculous the players are. Not only do they make big bets with 3-4 or 4-7, more often than not these junk hands win against A-A, K-K, or A-K. This is not sour grapes - I’ve played hundreds of 4 table games and I finish in the top 3 in about 33%. It’s just ridiculous when someone goes all-in early with junk and beat your pocket K’s..Version: 2.1
It’s freeThe best part is that this game is free to play, and there are no ads! But, the competition (AI) is far from realistic. Pre-flop cards are mostly awful, and when you do get a decent pre-flop, most of the other players will fold. Very often another player stays in with absolutely terrible cards, and bets them, even though the flop gives them nothing at all, but guess what? Yup, they end up winning on the last card. Anybody that bet so recklessly in real life wouldn’t stand a chance. It’s frustrating, but hey, it’s free. You might win the whole table 1 in 8 tries. Good luck!.Version: 2.1
Love itI have played this for over a year. I was up to 122 million at one point. The app glitched and I had to delete then reinstall. I went back to broke. I had to delete the app before and didn’t lost my “money “. It has been fun. I don’t know if I have the patience to build back from nothing. I have been playing only 100 grand buy in for a long time. This start over is a bummer..Version: 2.1
No ConsistencyThe game has no consistency, which is annoying. I recently played a game where the prior deal split money between 2 players with 1 equal card, despite the fact I had a better 2nd card. However, the literal next deal had the same situation and awarded all the money to the player who had what I had held the prior hand and it knocked me out of the game. I have also played numerous games where the game will split the pot on a hand where one player may have a certain hand (ex. 1 pair), but the next has a better hand (ex. 2 pair, 3 of a kind, full house, etc). The lesser hand gets a couple hundred dollars, and the better hand gets the remainder. The better hand should always win it all. Every poker rule book will tell you that. Game should be a lot better than it is. I will say the “entry fee” part is also a bit ridiculous. Most fees double (50, 100, 200) before going from $500 to $2000..Version: 2.1
Fun game, great graphics! The only problem I have with this game is that I am somewhat clueless as to some of the rules, and what those chips with the letters on them are for, and how to redeem them, and for what purpose do I redeem them? I also don’t understand what “blinds” are. Other than that, I am thoroughly enjoying this game! Since I’m a jazz aficionado, I enjoy the music, too. I still don’t think I’m ready for the big time on TV just yet....Version: 2.1
Ok game but not a realistic simulationThe npcs are pretty decent as far betting tendencies and being consistent. It is the cards I have an issue with. If you play a light hand (with slight odds advantage) and it goes to a showdown, 7/10 the npc is going to beat your hand on one of the last 2 card draws. They will pull the one card that beats you. Tells me that there is an algorithm deciding of I will win or lose as opposed to programming aimed at randomizing the cards. That throws the odds off from a real card game and makes it just a video game. If you want simulation, play the WSOP app against real people..Version: 2.1
Pretty GoodNot bad, fun game. In a real game, unless you are playing against some real morons, some actions of the opponents are mindless. Examples are going all in after all cards are on the table and having low cards and not even a pair; folding on the blind when nobody has raised; betting wars. Also, I know of two hands where my opponent and I have the same hole cards and at the end I was awarded the pot - programming. The multiplayer mode is a great way to learn to coordinate and cheat for real cash online games. Still, it’s a fun game and it’s free..Version: 2.1
What’s with the insulting emojis that frequently appear?I agree with the other reviewers that the AI seems to know the cards ahead of time. I’ve had lots of fun getting to Macau and amassing about $25,000,000 in point accumulation. But, then, it seems like I’m losing ALL the time and am down to $8M. Also, what is with the insulting emojis that appear for a few seconds on top of my character? Boring, eye rolling, sneering, etc. WHO is controlling those emojis? Pretty insulting for an iPad game! I’d like to know if the AI doesn’t like my bidding?.Version: 2.1
App is flawed.I downloaded the app two years ago and had a great time. So much so that I had won over 17 million dollars. Looked forward to open for a good ride. Then I loaded on my iPad. After 8 plays with some success, I noted that there were repeats - no new plays. Thought I would have to buy chips but there are no ways to do that. Went to my phone and found the same problem. I deleted the app and downloaded it again. Same results. Don’t know what to do..Version: 2.1

Prepare to Lose (your mind and the hand)You’re gonna lose a lot of hands on the river. Suprise flushes, full houses and straights abound. Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory. The game punishes you for playing conservatively and smartly. Used to think it had to be random because who would go to the length to code a game that would beat you dramatically all the time? But as the jaw-dropping losses began to pile up and far outweigh the jaw-dropping wins, I had a change of heart. The game hates you. Still addicted to it though.Version: 2.1

The multiplayer doesn’t work! [Solved]This app is fun! No ads and completely free. What’s extremely disappointing the multiplayer option doesn’t work at all! I tried to play against my sister and the multiplayer option game doesn’t even start! Please fix this! I actually figured out the issue. My sister denied “Allow to find local on network”. Once this was enabled, the multiplayer worked!!.Version: 2.1

Enjoyable except accidental all in….My only problem is how you fold and all in are very close to the same swipe action. You should change the interaction so you can’t go all in when you mean to fold the cards with a swipe. I lost many games this way..Version: 2.1
