One starI hate State Farm and will cancel as soon as my ordeal is over. We have been living in our unfinished home since August of 2024 after they refused to extend our stay at the rental which was overpriced and used up all our loss money for housing. State Farm has refused to pay to finish our shell of a house after they bungled our coverage for contents and mixed it up with the money on the policy to fix our home which a tree fell on and caused over $400,000 and we had an upgrade for $71,000 which they said we didn’t have but I had the policy to prove it. So here we are after having had to hire a lawyer and a public adjuster to try and obtain the justice we deserve after continuing to pay our insurance month after month. While State Farm head honchos make millions in salary a year. In our opinion State Farm will always be a trash company who rips the consumers off. Just talked to someone whose house burned down over four years ago and was treated exceptionally by their insurance and everything went smoothly. No hesitation to give him the exact money his home was worth didn’t try to gyp him out of what he needed to put everything right again and even applauded him building a bigger better home with the money. State Farm turns my stomach and I absolutely tell everyone what they have done. Their slogan does not match their actions, if they were there like a good neighbor we would be whole again and not living in the only room we can be in which is our tiny living room. House fire .After completely loosing my home to fire and assured buy my local agent that I had plenty of coverage and that everything would be ok .its far from ok it appears that in the beginning of the claim I received large payment and never being in this situation before I looked for the correct steps from my agent on who to pay and so forth and payed the financial institution per what he said to do. Now almost a year and a half after the fact I’m approximately $32,000 thousand dollars short to be able to finish paying my balance off. And I still have not hit the limits of my policy And I STILL DO NOT HAVE A HOME ! after countless phone calls to my agent all I get are I’m sorry. I’ve been told many times by my adjuster that you’re only to receive what you’ve lost, nothing more nothing less but what I received is a beautiful unfinished home and apparently a very large debt to be repaid. Thousands more dollars than what is actually owed because a number of bank fees and loans that I have to acquire on my own if I want to see the project finished. It’s kind of like the bait and switch. Extremely disappointed. Would like the hear from someone on this issue and could put sense into the reason for why it’s not being taken care of buy insurance that I’ve paid for for just a situation that I’m in. I’m starting to get irritatedI’m starting to get irritated with this app and company as a whole it’s very strange to me that I’m not able to see my bill unless it’s closer to the due date to pay it off early. second, they keep changing my rate midway through the six month cycle and I don’t ever have a locked in rates, first my insurance was 200, then 192 then for a few months it was 150 then for the last couple months it was 134 now it’s back up to 153 and they keep giving me the run-of-the-mill excuses of how inflation is why my price is going up then another person told me that the reason that it went up was because my drive safe scores are lower but I’ve never had a solid answer as to why my rate was the way it was , my assigned insurance agent never answers the phone. There’s always somebody else answering it for me. I would like to speak with the person who I got the plan through with my actual assigned agent, and he is never available for me to speak to about my policy. I would like a set locked in right for six months. I plan and budget my bills accordingly and if I don’t know what my bill is going to be when it happens I’m just tired of the surprise changes in my policy thinking I’m gonna have one rate then it changes the next time!!!.LetmeusemtownVersion: 9.48.0
Watch out for that drive safe and saveSince are home insurance is with State Farm. we add a vehicle to are policy to save some extra bucks. While adding the vehicle the rep said we can save extra if we added the DRIVE SAFE AND SAVE. so we did. Which was the worse idea. My monthly payment change the second I add that feature. Didn’t know that the feature is AI generated . Which was altering my policy payments the more data it collected. I bought a 2023 kia sportage and for that vehicle alone charged me $1089. Meanwhile my 2008 Honda element monthly payment went from $320 to $389 with basic insurance. Now my monthly insurance payment for both cars was a whopping $1389. I kept calling them to find out why my insurance was so high. Mind never been in no accidents during the time I was insured by STATE FARM. Fed up of getting robbed I started shopping around. Used one of these app that would send all your info to multiple insurance companies, worst mistake. Cause I got flooded with a barrage of calls from different insurance companies. So I went on the PROGRESSIVE WEBSITE. Short story. IM NOW PAYING LESS THEN A $1000 for both vehicles and I add 2 more drivers to my policy. STATE FARM ARE ROBBING PEOPLE BLIND and that DRIVE SAFE AND SAVE IS THE WORST DISCOUNT FEATURE THEY OFFER. Drive Safe is DefectiveI keep getting flagged and penalized for acceleration when no such thing is happening. I was early for an appointment and was deliberately driving slower than normal yet in one single stretch I received not one but FIVE acceleration occurrences? These are clearly not accelerations. This app is providing false information to state farm penalizing me. Same for braking. Twice recently a car on the freeway cut in front of me forcing me to brake. What was I supposed to do? Slam into the back of those cars so I don't have an occurrence reported to state farm? This app needs to adjust the parameters to realistic normal levels and be fair with their customers. I've no speeding occurrences, phone distraction, cornering, only those two so state farm can clearly see I'm not an unsafe driver. I looked for a dedicated support number to discuss this but there are none. Update: just got yet another"acceleration" occurrence in my 25 year old 4 cylinder vehicle. Didn't happen. I can accelerate faster on my bike but seems state farm wants us all to be grandma where if you drive any slower you'll be driving in reverse. USED to be 5 stars....Customers: DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR TAKE UP PRECIOUS SPACE ON YOUR PHONE/iPAD, etc.... JUST USE THEIR WEBSITE, it seems I too was stuck in the never ending loop: "update your app" go to settings "open app" no upgrade avail, Open app... "update your app" again only choice is to select "upgrade app" which takes you to the App Store, where your app doesn't show an upgrade avail, so only choice (again) is to "open app" open app "UPDATE APP" (this is where pulling my hair out begins...) Delete app, download app "your brand new iPhone won't support the newest version of this app, so you are unable to use this app because you have chosen not to blindly have the latest iOS until most of the bugs are worked out. So no more easy bill pay, no more having insurance cards in my virtual wallet, and no continue dealing with SF after so easily submitting a claim using this handy app. Nope, not for you my friend! We no longer have anything handy, current, tech savvy and convenient for you. Pardon my sarcasm, and no need to say "we're sorry. Or, "you can call your agent, or go to our website" or "we just want the best for our customers." That only makes it worse. Feels a little passive aggressive if you know what I mean. Here's what would help, hire an IT person to upgrade your apps (without cutting off a bunch of customers -and probably drive them elsewhere) which include a way to provide continuous service to ALL consumers. Jennifer WilcoxI wish I never came back to State Farm. Jennifer Wilcox pretty much took my money and left me high and dry. When I came back I expressed to Suzanne that I didn’t know the specifics of my policy with my previous insurance company but I let her know that I wanted to keep the same coverages which included full coverage, $1000 deductible, rental car, and a few other things. Well a a few months after coming back and signing up my Wife was hit by someone from behind and only then did I find out I didn’t have rental car coverage and a few other coverages. I tried explaining the situation to Jennifer and was immediately told it was my fault. She even told me if I could get proof that I had been having rental car coverage on my previous policies should would see if her underwriters could retro act my policy but after I sent proof she then told me that her underwriters wouldn’t do anything to help me without even reaching out to the to explain the situation. So I now have to pay rental car expenses on top of the deductible for car repairs. Then she literally told me that I can go to another insurance company as if my business isn’t wanted or needed. Good grades are hard to obtainI have two cars and I primarily drive a Prius. I am unable to obtain B’s or A’s when it comes to turns or acceleration. What makes this really hard to believe is that I do not drive my car aggressively with fast starts or stops. I can’t really accelerate any slower. I get 50 mpg and you don’t get that if you have fast starts. My point is that even with a Prius on eco mode (smoothes out the acceleration) I can’t get a B. The app collects all of this data, but other than unhelpful generalizations, there is no way to see what circumstances the app determines what is bad. I have no way to see the actual problem with acceleration or cornering in order to improve. I would like to see the raw data so I can see when and where the “problem” occurred. It seems like State Farm wants to inform me about my driving with generic letter grades, but then does not provide any specifics on my driving that would actually get into why specifically I get the grades I do. If I am participating with a very minor discount I might add and battery degradation, I should get something out of it with seeing my data and knowing how I can improve tailored to me. Even a top 10 list with specific examples would be helpful on a daily or weekly basis. As a suggestion it would help to also break down the data to know who was driving as related to the grades instead of lumping everything into general grades for the car as it is hard to know who is the driver (broken down my cell phone device) who is messing up. Present the full data to the customers in a useful manner for maximum benefit and potential improvements to driving behavior..Jxburk3Version: 5.30.3
Axle blewWorst customer experience with an insurance company. Had an axle fail on my vehicle max and State Farm found me at fault when there was no property damage whatsoever. The agent who answered was deadpan the whole time and didn’t seem to give an iota of care about how upset I was. Short, curt answers to my questions. Finally just ended the conversation and called back to speak to a different agent. When filling out the claim form, I didn’t realize the paperwork was hung the odometer reading was incorrect. I told that agent I didn’t know exactly what the odometer reading was so no wonder they used that as an excuse. The food meter reading isn’t wrong it’s the exact mileage that was on the car. Also the value of the car is $3-4k but the used the excuse of “significant paint peeling and rust” to give only $1700 even though I have full coverage and haven’t had an accident since I started with this insurance company when I bought my vehicle. The MANUFACTURER never sent a notice of anything about axle failure. I keep good maintenance on my vehicles and paid over $2k for the vehicle plus getting new front and back brakes, replacing the power steering etc. I’ll definitely be taking my business elsewhere when I get a new vehicle, and will likely not continue with State Farm moving forward..LillaenaVersion: 9.47.0
Awful service and major bug preventing getting an estimateState Farm has some serious issues at the moment. I am trying to file a claim for an auto accident. The people at State Farm told me I had to submit photos though this app in order to receive an estimate. So I downloaded this app, found the place in the app to start the claim and upload photos of the damage. The app stated State Farm received the photos and I should get an estimate within a couple of days. Over a week goes by, and no estimate. So I call the claims number, which informs me they don’t have the pictures and can’t send out an estimate. So I call my local agent, who logs into the system and she can clearly see the photos. I then email her additional photos straight to her and she uploads them to State Farm’s system. A couple more days go by and no estimate. Again the adjusters state that they aren’t seeing the pictures. They keep telling me I have to use the app… which I did. It turns out that the only way to get an estimate though this app is to follow these steps exactly 1) Call State Farm about the wreck they will send you a link to this app though the App Store. 2) Download and open the app. 3) The app will prompt you immediately to start taking pictures of the car. Follow the prompts. 4) You will then have to log in or set up the app with a user name and password. Only then will a claims adjuster get your photos. Bottom line is that you can’t submit photos to the claims department though the place in the app other then the prompt that comes up when you immediately download the app. You can upload photos though the app and StateFarm gets them but their left hand won’t know what their right hand is doing if you do that. No longer worksI guess they updated their internal API somehow and the same app I’ve always used no longer works on my phone, even for just displaying my insurance card. (It displays a blank white screen.) That’s a real issue, as I’d stopped carrying paper cards, thinking my phone would be sufficient. Oops. It’s not a huge loss, though. Even when it worked, it was never a great app. The forward-only workflow for starting a claim pretty much required at least a pencil and paper (or another computer) to remember info from elsewhere in the app which can’t be accessed during a claim. Just use the web app. It’s a little awkward, too, but at least it doesn’t lock you into specific pages like the iOS app does, and you can always open another window. Plus, it works with every phone/computer in the world. UPDATE: State Farm replied to my review, saying I should use the in-app feedback mechanism. I’m not sure if this is an automated response to all negative reviews, or they simply didn't bother to read mine. In any case, it’s typical of State Farm tech. WARNING FOR CAR REFINANCING OR CAR LOANI am a long time customer of State Farm. I have my house, rental home, car insured with State Farm and I have financed several cars through State Farm bank. I refinance my 2014 Dodge Challenger with State Farm to cut down my 72 month payment terms of 590. 5 years later I’m thinking I have another 3 more payment and I have 15 more payment. State Farm bank didn’t correctly write up my contact. PLEASE DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They refinanced my loan for the same 72 months but at a much higher rate $660 when I was paying $590 at the credit union. What type of company that cares about their customer with choose this uneconomical decision for the customer. The refinance was for 60 months not 72 months. This is highway robbery and so unfair. I’m a very good with spending money and budgeting so I know I didn’t agree with paying more for the same term this makes no sense to me. After talking to many people at the bank and being referred to my agent that had nothing to do with the person at the bank that wrote this bogus loan up they offered me to refinance again smh. PLEASE read everything before you sign don’t trust State Farm bank they are not in your best interests when it comes to loans. SO VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH STATE FARM BANK!!!!! They told me that I signed the papers and it’s been 5 years and the system is different. They can’t do anything about it. I payed over $6000 more for the car refinancing with State Farm bank. Repeatedly asks for informationThe app makes you verify your information and your security settings every time you log in. This is very frustrating. The interesting thing is, if you try to turn off two-factor autentication, it doesn't change anything - so why make customers click through this extra step every time they use the app? The website does the same thing, and so does the support personnel when you call in every time you talk to a new person - even on the same call! This is very annoying! Enough that every time I am asked for this information it makes me dislike doing business with State Farm. As a suggestion, they could create a solution that only prompts customers if it has been over 30 days, from any one of these channels and then does not prompt again. I'm sure there are other solutions that would be less annoying than what they have now. Good in theory onlySo I have had this app for a while. And it strikes me funny. I am a good safe driver. I follow the law. Today I got on to check my discount because my renewal is coming up next month. Only to see suddenly I get a braking event each time I drive my car. I do not use my phone so it’s either in my back pocket or I put it in my cup holder when I get in my car. The braking events have reduced my driving score significantly. I know for a fact it is creating fast braking out of normal stopping. One fast brake was in between two stop lights that were prob 50ft apart. How do u fast brake in 50feet from a stop?!?! The failure is with the design. It does not plug into the obd2 it is supposed to be attached to the car but I refused to do that and get sticky double sided crazy adhesive all over my car. The discounts arnt worth it. I have full coverage on that car and it only saves $60 where as before it was saving $150 all of a sudden right before renewal it’s creating events where none should b. They lie, and they’re not fairThey called me stating they could get my insurance at a lower rate than my current insurance company. I left my insurance company and came to them, and it ended up being a bunch of lies the person I spoke to when I got my insurance told me that I would save even more money if I put the drive and save in my vehicles, I chose not to put it in my vehicles and the next thing I know my insurance bill is $300 more than what they originally quoted me. Then when I said it’s not fair your insurance person is the one who told me this they basically didn’t care and for three months now my insurance has not been correct. They keep giving me the runaround about how much my bill is supposed to be, they came back with what my new amount was supposed to be and they still weren’t giving me all my discounts. They were only giving me a discount for two of my three cars and are still not addressing the issue of their person telling me my insurance would only go less if I use the drive, and save when, in fact, it went higher because I chose not to use it..TyanthiaVersion: 9.48.0
Filing a claimFiling a claim on this app has been a terrible experience. I originally called and asked for an adjuster to come look at my car, the rude State Farm rep refused to send an adjuster, stating they don’t have any adjusters, was speaking to me in a condescending fashion like I am stupid. I fill everything out and take 15 pictures of my car and the damage. It’s been over a week and now they want me to download another app, retake the same 15 pictures and submit it under a different app. I’m not an adjuster, they aren’t paying me to be an adjuster. I call the 800 number again, this time getting a much nicer rep who said she could see all my stuff and tells me that my pictures and claim were sent to the “express team” and somehow, somewhere, someone dropped the ball and didn’t submit my claim and pictures to the “estimate team” I am very disappointed because State Farm wasn’t the cheapest for my bundle of 2 vehicles, renters and life insurance but was supposed to be one of the better options in customer service. Absolutely terrible app.It’s almost impossible to use the app, you have to login nearly every time you use the it. Passwords always seem to be wrong whenever you enter them and then you can’t ever use the same one again and not enough attempts to guess the password are permitted. Just about everything nowadays requires a password so how can they expect someone to remember 100 different passwords with different criteria? On top of that, the driving requirements are beyond ridiculous and the equipment seems faulty. You can literally make a safe turn from 5 mph and it will claim that you need to work on turning. And heaven forbid if somebody walks out in front of you without looking or somebody else slams on their brakes which makes it say you have issues with braking. If you have that one slim opportunity of getting through a busy intersection after waiting 5 minutes for nonstop traffic, forget it. You will be told that you need to work on acceleration. Definitely more sensitiveLike others have mentioned, the app has definitely gotten more sensitive recently. I've noticed that it dings me for cornering when making a turn after being fully stopped at a red light. It seems that it thinks going from 0 to 23 mph as you're turning is considered cornering when in reality it isn't. It doesn't take much to get to that speed when you step on the gas just to get going and I don't try to speed off either. You'd have to turn super slow to not get dinged by the app and this is all from actually being fully stopped at a red light and waiting for it to turn green. It makes no sense plus it definitely was not like this in the past. I actually pay attention and try to get good scores on Drive Safe and Save but this really needs to be looked at and addressed. Also as others have mentioned, just one slightly harder tap of the brakes can ding you too. Claims department is the worst everLeaving this review here and hope to see someone cares. My claim was assigned to Linda form claim department ( always out of here office) after an accident, my car sent out to one of state farm’s certified bodyshops. I took my car to them for accessories after an accident. They sent out my car to a mechanical shop to do tire ailment repair. They screwed up my car. The day I went to pick my car from their location they were taking my car for rides and asked me to wait till they done ( saying they are doing a test) and lied to me about the noise that was going on and refused to say anything even that I asked him.I took my car to it’s dealership and they found out that they screwed up my car. Now I am having the worst time in life ever to get this shop involved and pay for their mistake. State Farm doesn't want to get this involved and pay for the whole cost and asking me to pay a portion of it. State Farm doesn't work for its clients. RatesI’ve been with State Farm I believe for 10 years now?? First they were great, cheap rates and everything. I don’t mind paying the $10 late fee, whatever. And I’m 43 years old, there shouldn’t be any reason paying $225 plus a month for 2 vehicles and renters insurance!! The app is ok. Be nice to make partial payments like I was able to, but can’t anymore. They got rid of that I’m not sure how many years ago?? My husband is 51 and I don’t understand why our rates keep going up??? Now my bill for June is $440 this month, because they said I made my last payment back in April late and their system didn’t update it. So now, I have to pay $440. Other than that, my bill is $225 a month. First it used to be $85. Then $91, ok cool. Then $130. Still ok with that. But then it just kept going. $180. $215. $225!!! Really??? I know I’m shopping around now. Not sure if I want to go with Progressive?? Or something else?? I need to look into this more. I NEED to be able to see MY COMPLETE HISTORY..Of payments and policies by car and by chronological order I have a couple cars with State Farm and a couple motorcycles all on different plans and I can’t easily go look at each one and immediately pull up my policy or my payment history for the last few YEARS ! Really it all to give me the entire history since I’ve had a vehicle with State Farm ! Even IF it goes back 10 years - WHY can’t I see that ?!? all I can go to see the current bill and maybe what I paid in the last 12 months or so and then it goes disappears. Well, the app does it does well - It’s pretty good at showing me a current insurance card. it’s VERY GOOD at taking my money ! But again, what about my payment history ? or my vehicle insurance history? It’s unbelievable to me I have the State Farm credit card AND the State Farm app and I can’t QUICKLY & easily go pull up a copy of any of my policies.. or that I CAN’T at any time, go pull up a COMPLETE HISTORY on any vehicle I’ve ever had insured with you guys. ***PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR “DRIVE SAFE AND SAVE”***I have been doing this for almost a year now and was scammed out of my first discount because all of a sudden I needed to put in my odometer readings, even though I had already done it during setup. The device has the ability to track your miles and even adds up the amount of them you’ve driven across all your trips so this is ridiculous and very clearly just a way for them to cheap out on your discount while still being able to collect and utilize the data from your driving habits. Along with that, there are some things that you get (negative) points for that are just ridiculous. If you stop abruptly to avoid an accident you get points, if you’re on a main road and have to make a sharp turn because slowing down too much is dangerous for the people behind you..points, if you accelerate fast because your in a merging lane..points. It’s impossible and unfair to keep up with. Lastly, your discount isn’t completely or even MOSTLY dependent on your driving skills. It’s dependent on your vehicle. I have a hyundai tiburon and for those who don’t know, it’s a 2-door coupe. It’s a sporty looking car but it’s not fast at all. However, I was FULLY prepared for my insurance to be higher because of that. It’s fair that my base rate is high, but it’s absolutely ridiculous that I can’t get much of a discount because of that. I take driving seriously and can confidently say that I am careful and attentive. Discount or no discount, I will still have to pay more for insurance than any average civic or cruze owner and that’s okay. There is no reason, however, why someone else on my plan (true story) with scores consistently in the 50s and 60s (low - based from 1 to 100) should get almost $100 MORE off of her insurance than me and my consistent scores of 80s and 90s. I hope this is dealt with or I am displeased to say that I will not continue to use state farm for any insurance in the future, and will discourage anyone around me from making the same mistake..FancyCat24Version: 10.145.0
Drive Safe & Save Worse HereI don’t mind that the Drive Safe & Save app was folded into this one, but it sure was a lot easier to use when it was in its old app. Now I have to scroll and look for a tiny little text. Link to pull up my trip history, and even after that, I don’t have the visual thumbnail of the map for me to be able to quickly identify which trip I’m looking for. Since the city is the exact same for almost every one of my trips, I have no way of being able to identify, which is which, without clicking through individually to look at the map. What a pain! And it takes so much longer that way! Can you put this back in? Plus, the times shown are way off. Sometimes by over an hour or more! Frustrated with State Farm is an understatementWhy can’t we sign on using face recognition or some other method than having to type in a password using tiny keys? The idiotic way this is set up, I have to try six different passwords, only to be told that they are all wrong. And then, when I try to set up a new password, I’m told that no recent passwords can be used, which effectively guarantees this will happen again the next time that I need to login. Also, what’s the deal with never sending me invoices—only late/termination notices? You obviously have my address (hence, me getting the termination notices). Why can’t you just use the same address to send me invoices, such that I’m not having to do this in the last minute in the first place. This is just plain nonsensical (especially, the second paragraph). If State Farm can’t get its act together, then it’s unclear why in the world it should expect to keep its premium-paying customers. Broken Data Pipelines & Flawed Multi-Driver LogicI enrolled two vehicles on a brand-new policy with identical timelines. Despite my car tracking a flawless 1,331 miles with a 0.751 incident rate, the backend billing system completely failed to ingest the app's data. It defaulted my premium discount to a baseline 2% floor, while the other vehicle (with three times as many flagged incidents) was awarded a 22% discount. The telemetry database does not communicate reliably with their underwriting software. To make matters worse, the app completely fumbles household management. If both drivers on the policy are in the vehicle together, the Bluetooth beacon randomly grabs whichever phone signal it finds first. There is no reliable, intuitive way to seamlessly reassign the trip to the true driver without the app glitching, lagging, or discarding the data entirely. If you are a meticulous driver who keeps precise logs, prepare to be cheated out of your hard-earned discounts by broken automation.
