Tech support is horribleSo I been using this app for quite some and loved it but there tech support is the worst I ever experienced. What the problem with support is I was having a problem with payment for parking. Where I was parking was that the location wanted a minimum of $4 parking if using a credit card but there was no minimum if paid with cash. So I started a park mobile wallet with a minimum of $25. However when I went to pay for the parking it was still charging me the $4 minimum as though it was a credit card with it was not. Wallet is cash deposited into my account. This is where it gets bad. I contact chat support and explain my situation, the person says the minimum was for credit card payment which I understood and informed them that I was using wallet which is like cash and was not using a credit card. After explaining that the minimum was for credit cards and not cast they responded with “That’s great is there anything else I can help you with?” Use to love the app but my feelings have drastically changed.....Version: 8.8

Good at the basics, two annoying issuesParkMobile seems to be the most popular app for municipal parking around me, and it works pretty well for what it is. Seems to sync well with whatever technology the authorities are using. A handful of app-specific annoyances in the last year or two: 1) there are more often than not popover ads or popover promos that appear as soon as I open the app that I must dismiss in order to input the parking zone and start parking. I imagine most people are like me and in a major hurry to input the zone number and start the clock. The ads and promos are a HUGE annoyance. I’ve cursed the app more than once standing in the rain after finding the zone number and trying to start parking. 2) I turned off app notifications for time remaining and session expired and now they will not turn back on for me. Every time I hit the radio button in the app, I’m redirected to the iPhone setting menu for the app, which doesn’t help - two different types of settings. All of those iPhone settings are correct, so I don’t know what the problem is turning notifications on in the app. I really don’t like text or email notifications, which are now my only options. 3) I had to log out and log back in to the app to see an updated parking history. The app stopped showing parking history in real time for a couple months..Version: 8.9.2

Glitch caused me to get a parking ticket, but developers ultimately reimbursed meI parked and saw that parking could be paid through this app. I downloaded the app, entered my vehicle and payment information, entered the zone where I was parking, set it to pay for two hours ($2.85). I got confirmation and even saw the clock start counting down. I go to lunch, then come back to a $42 parking ticket. I check the app and somehow there is nothing in my activity history. Edit: I have sent the information as they requested. The event happened exactly as described above. I will update my review to include how this is handled once it is resolved. Edit #2: I've upgraded my review to 4 stars. The app didn't work and I got a ticket, but I was surprised to find that the developers actually responded to this, they investigated, and ultimately reimbursed me the price of the ticket. That's excellent customer service, which unfortunately isn't common these days. And for the record, I used the app again a couple of weekends ago (I made sure to take a screenshot this time) and it worked fine, so I'm not sure what happened with that first one..Version: 8.2.1

I like itI’ve only used the app a couple of times but it’s always worked well for me. It’s fairly straight forward and easy to use. You can add any vehicle to your account quickly from anywhere. (I even added my daughters best friends car from home when needed to park, because they are teenagers and don’t always think ahead.) You can have multiple vehicles on your account. All of the info you need to know about a space (hour and minute rate, maximum time allowed in a space, etc) so you don’t accidentally get a ticket is given in the app when you chose a space/parking zone. I often use the app before I even get out of my car (and I counsel my children to do the same) which gives me a greater sense of security. I like that it warns you when your time is going to run out and I find it very convenient to be able to extend my time in a space from my smartphone rather than having to run out and feed the meter..Version: 8.2.1

Good app, bad business practicesEdit: as an addendum to my review, there is a way on the website to change your membership to free. However, i was forced to add a new payment option just so it would let me into the personal tab. This is what led me to believe there was no way to cancel the membership, as there is no way to opt out of this, you have to add some payment info before it will let you on. Currently, my review still stands, it took one click on the app to sign up for pro, so it should be just as easy to do it in the same place on the app, not hidden away in some submenu on the website I used Park Mobile throughout college to park on my campus and never had a problem with it, I even signed up for park mobile pro. Now that I’m out of college and moved away, I wanted to cancel my pro since I won’t be using park mobile anymore, and I can’t find anything about how to cancel it, not on the app or the website. This is wrong. If I have to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get an app to stop charging me money, then I see that as a scam. I’ve had to contacted customer support to cancel it, and I will not be using this app again.Version: 8.8

Useful and frustrating appI use the app only once every month or two when I go to Walnut Creek or Oakland. It’s very convenient to use for parking instead of looking for change or pulling my card out and dealing with the parking meter. The app though is very frustrating in a few ways; 1) it never picks up the parking zone I’m actually at but seems to pick up every other zone around me. So I always have to punch in the zone. 2) After going a long period without using it, the app always ask me to setup my payment method even though I’ve done this numerous times with cards that haven’t expired since the last time, 3) more often than not I punch in my zone, then my space # and hit continue when it asks me to select a vehicle. There’s no list and no option to bring up my list of vehicles so I have to cancel and go to my vehicle list only to see all of my vehicles are there and my primary one is set to default. After checking I then return and it allows me to restart and finish the parking process. Like I said the system is very useful but the user interface needs work..Version: 8.9.2

Cost me a $30 violationOlder versions allowed easy switch between cars. Also clearly identified which car you were paying for parking. You need to now go into settings and change your default car anytime you want to pay for a different car that is already in your list of vehicles. I have three cars and was confused as to which car I had set as the default since it did not tell me as I was setting the parking duration. Paid a $30 violation plus the fee to the app plus the $6 to the city for the other car that was home in my driveway. MAKE IT EASY TO switch between cars like before. SETTINGS ARE NOT SOMETHING YOU SHOULD HAVE TO TINKER WITH WHEN YOU HAVE A CAR FULL OF KIDS AND YOU ARE TRYING TO PAY FOR PARKING. UPDATE: Changed to five stars from one star. App owner made good on promise to make things right. Expeditiously handled the complaint to my satisfaction- above and beyond which is rare. Thank you..Version: 8.1

Periodically needs manual reinstallsThis app is what my university requires for its flex parking permits. When it works, it’s fine. But a few weeks ago, when I was in a hurry to get to a meeting, I found the app had lost the saved information about my vehicle, and, more importantly, it gave me an error when I tried to reenter it. I had to park without activating the app. When I called our parking office, they told me that this happens when there’s an update to the app and that I needed to uninstall and reinstall it. OK, I did that, and it worked again. Today, just a few weeks later, I had the same problem again. I haven’t tried reinstalling it yet (didn’t have time), but I assume that will fix it again. That said, it should not be necessary to manually uninstall and reinstall the app periodically to keep it working so that I can legally park in my lot. I rarely have the luxury of sitting in my car for an unplanned extra five minutes to go through that process..Version: 9.18.2

Google data breach park mobileIn March 2021, the mobile parking app service ParkMobile suffered a data breach which exposed 21 million customers' personal data. The impacted data included email addresses, names, phone numbers, vehicle licence plates and passwords stored as bcrypt hashes. The following month, the data appeared on a public hacking forum where it was extensively redistributed. Someone is selling account information for 21 million customers of ParkMobile, a mobile parking app that’s popular in North America. The stolen data includes customer email addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, license plate numbers, hashed passwords and mailing addresses. KrebsOnSecurity first heard about the breach from Gemini Advisory, a New York City based threat intelligence firm that keeps a close eye on the cybercrime forums. Gemini shared a new sales thread on a Russian-language crime forum that included my ParkMobile account information in the accompanying screenshot of the stolen data. Included in the data were my email address and phone number, as well as license plate numbers for four different vehicles we have used over the past decade. Asked about the sales thread, Atlanta-based ParkMobile said the company published a notification on Mar. 26 about “a cybersecurity incident linked to a vulnerability in a third-party software that we use.”.Version: 9.19.3

Don’t use in Denver - you’ll get a ticket anywayUPDATE October 2022 - after online appeal failed, I sent proof of payment and a letter by certified mail to the City of Denver and they dismissed the ticket. I’m now convinced it was a Denver problem rather than a problem with the app. But I’ll still use quarters or a card, and take lots of photos of the meter, rather than use any parking app, since at least Denver doesn’t seem to know how it works. ******************* I used the app in Denver to pay for on street parking at a meter. Paid $5 (plus $0.35 fee for the app) to park for an hour but got a $35 ticket 6 minutes later. Despite proof I paid, including confirmation email from ParkMobile, Denver still demands I pay the ticket (albeit reduced to $15). So use cash or a card, or maybe just park elsewhere, since paying ParkMobile doesn’t seem to matter much to Denver..Version: 9.19.0

Convenience at a price23% seems like a fairly steep price to pay for the convenience of paying a meter via phone, but it *is* convenient. There are 2 main issues using it for street parking. 1) ParkMobile doesn’t alert you or prevent you from paying on days/times when parking is free. (Seems like this would be an easy app side fix) 2) Unfortunately how well the app is integrated with local parking authority info seems a little hit or miss, and that 23% we’re paying to the folks at ParkMobile clearly isn’t going towards them proactively confirming the info they have from parking authorities is correct. Here in downtown Newark for example, there are event parking rules in effect on certain streets on certain nights. Admittedly it’s a bit complicated: 2 hour metered parking during the day until 6pm, free after that until midnight if no event. If there is an event it’s $25 for the evening. And no parking after midnight. ParkMobile is unable to indicate which days have events, and it simply says no Parking after 6 (no option to pay the event rate). When I alerted the PM folks to this via the chat help in the app they said it’s up to the local parking authority to contact them. At a certain scale this is understandable but still, if a user has flagged an issue could they not proactively reach out to the parking authority? Unimpressed. I’ll keep using the app for now, but would love to see the above issues addressed for a more seamless experience..Version: 9.2

Won’t let me park for only an hour or twoI downloaded because I had no other option to pay for parking in a lot in Seattle (zone 2606). I’ve parked in the same lot on weekday evening and on a Saturday. Once I enter the zone number, it automatically chooses the max time and there is no way to change it. The lot is clearly marked with rates for hourly parking. Giving the app the benefit of the doubt (e.g. maybe the lot actually only allows max time parking), i would expect the app to tell me that is the only option available, instead presenting me with a widget that is clearly intended to let me edit the parking time but will not respond when touched. Also be fore you pay you have an option that says “change” by the parking time, but touching it only takes you back to where you enter the zone and time is automatically set. Thanks for reading. Finally as a minor annoyance it presents Apply Pay as a payment method, but also a red message saying it is not accepted. Why?.Version: 9.1

Why did they get rid of start and stop parkingFor a brief, beautiful era you could press Start Parking when you wanted to start the meter, and then when you were done, press Stop Parking. So it only charged you for the time you used, you only had to pay one transaction fee, and you didn’t run out of time and get a ticket. But suddenly that option has been taken away! WHY?? You don’t always know how much time you need. And you can’t be expected to pull out your phone in the middle of a nice dinner with your in-laws to add more money to the meter because the alarm you had to set to remind yourself went off in the restaurant. Bring it back! Otherwise the app is frustrating and nearly pointless! The interface also leaves something to be desired. Why does it never ever pull up nearby parking spots, but yet it seems to think that I might park again at a recent meter I used, even if it’s another city or state away..Version: 23.32.0

Will charge you outside of parking meter hoursMake sure you watch out what you are paying for. Make sure you know metered hours because the Parkmobile app will charge you regardless. I downloaded this app so I could pay for my parking and not miss my train. The app works fine except for one very bothersome component: It does not tell you what time to what time you are obligated to pay for parking. Instead it allows you to pay for parking at all hours of the day and night. I paid for parking from 8:15am - 4:15pm. There are no signs inside of the parking lot telling you the metered hours. So I paid those 8 hours. However, while I was still away I wasn’t going to be able to make it back until after 5pm so I paid $0.35 from 4:15pm to 5:15pm. I then paid again until 6:15pm. Even though the metered hours are only from 9am-5pm the app lets you pay their transaction fee during these off hours when you don’t have to pay for parking!.Version: 6.7

Needs safeguardsOverall the app is easy to use. Nice to be able to reserve a spot at a parking lot at work before I leave home. The biggest drawback is there is no 2 step safeguard for your transaction. Sometimes people are checking out locations and length of parking to determine costs for varying lots/meters close together. At my location it can vary greatly from one street to the next. If you hit the reserve button you better be ready for an instant transaction. There needs to be a safe guard for accidentally hitting it. A confirmation pop up to insure you really want to start a session would be great and make this 5 stars. So far this week there have been many colleagues who have had this problem since parking options have changed for us suddenly. Customer service has been great getting it corrected but a safeguard could prevent a lot of support calls..Version: 9.15
