Not likely to use this app againNot because they aren’t friendly. But I literally spent hours on the computer and phone trying to get a ticket taken care of that I was given while parking with a Spot Hero pass.
And was told it was taken care of. Just got a notice from the company that the fine is double because it wasn’t taken care of, and my car may be impounded if it’s not dealt with. I immediately sent a message to both Spot Hero and the parking company and was told it would be looked into. That was 2 days ago. I guess I just have to pay the $80 ticket. I’m so angry. What an absolute waste of time and energy.
Update(1 month after ticket issued, 2 weeks after being told issue was resolved, 5 days after receiving a letter saying nothing had been done and so I owed twice the amount): in the past four days I’ve been contacted numerous times by Spot Hero staff, to say the issue is being worked on, and that $10 credit was in my account, finally this morning to say the issue is resolved “unless I hear from them again.”
I hope it’s resolved. But I’m not super hopeful. If I don’t hear directly from the parking company that this is resolved I am going to follow up with them, as I’m not confident that things have been taken care of.
I think customer service did their best, but I still am very unlikely to use this app again. It’s just easier to take the bus and not worry about things like this happening. I don’t have the time, the energy or the personality to deal with this kind of thing again..SwattleVersion: 4.16.0
Had some issuesNot sure if it’s that app issue or the company in general but I paid for parking two times in 30 days through the app. The second time we parked the parking attendant confirmed we were in the right parking lot. No problems there a couple of weeks later got a text message saying that we did not pay from the parking lot. I called spot hero customer service. The lady had to check with a supervisor and said that she would get back to me that day and she didn’t so I called the next day and the customer service rep told me that it would be taken care of. Then yesterday I received a nasty letter from the parking lot company saying that if I did not pay that they would turn this over to collections or an attorney, so I called spot hero again. This time the lady said that she would email me a receipt and I could just email it to the parking lot company. But what she sent me via email was an apology letter. Requesting that receipts I received from a boot being on my car and the tickets that were placed on my car, that is not what happened and that’s not what we talked about so she sent me the wrong information. Three times I called spot hero to get this taken care of and still did not get it takencare of. So I don’t know why I didn’t think about calling the parking lot company and I called them gave them my rental ID and supposedly now it was taken care of. Great, only slightly frustratingMy wife has raved about this app. It does seem to be very accurate and you can find great deals. My new user experience was a bit frustrating. I continued as guest at first, because we were in a hurry. Found a spot. Added my vehicle info, went to pay, and got an error saying my car was too big for the spot. That's fine, but when I found another spot, I had to enter my vehicle info all over again. On the drive (as passenger), I tried to create an account, but all I could find was a login page (from the reservation page I was on - which I was afraid to leave, because I couldn't see the full name of the lot we were driving to). I tried logging in, thinking I might get prompted to create an account, but no. All I got was an error. So I switched to focusing on looking up the address in Waze, which I felt I had to enter manually, because I saw no way to copy the address and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to select the Waze app if I selected the navigation feature, which would cause me to leave the page. Once I had that worked out, I left the reservation page and was able to create my account, but despite having received 3 emails, none of them were the email verification email it said it had sent. After tapping the reset password email link a couple times, which didn't work, I tapped resend on the account creation page. And yes, I checked my spam folder. Finally, it sent me the email for email verification. I'm expecting smooth running from here on in, but I felt it was ridiculous that I had to consult the reservation email in order to be able to see the full name of the garage. Great tool but should allow rating parking spotsIt’s a great tool and saved me a lot of money in NY city. However, my first experience was horrible. On a beautiful day I booked my spot through the app. then an hour or so later pulled into the garage. Garage manager bluntly told me that they do not honor reservations because they can charge more to people who pull in without a reservation and because it’s a beautiful day they won’t have an issue selling out that day. And I should discuss for a refund with spot hero. Or I could pay the difference. It was a shocker. Didn’t know what to do. I depended on the app and it failed me at first use... It wasn’t really the app failing me in reality, which is why I continued to use it, but it was the parking garage management. But app doesn’t have any way to provide me any feedback or warning about places like that, so it’s partially responsible.
Then I started checking the garages on google for reviews, before booking on the app. Yes, it’s painful but gives “some” peace of mind. A review option within the app would be greatly greatly useful. Best way to Park in the big cityI'm in NYC this is THE BEST!!! I hate apps and websites the take forever to setup. This was smooth and easy. Worked first try. I've used it close to 10 times now and trust it enough to pay in advance. It's great! I get better prices to park for 8-12 hours anywhere in NYC. I can see an outside picture of the parking lot and decide if I want to park my car there. If I do, I pay, and have a reservation so I have a spot when I get there. The biggest problem with NYC parking is getting there ontime. The 'Early bird special' if you miss that your screwed. And most garages end that at 9-10am. This app solved that problem for me. I can get there whenever I want and am still paying $10-30 less each time.
Update: you have to read the restrictions of the parking garage on the app. I’ve had a garage charge me the difference between the $21 I paid through this app to their regular price $65, because I came in AFTER their early bird special! Tricky and greedy.

Essential app for people who travel or live in a big cityI fly monthly for work and use this app to reserve parking at nearby hotels and use their free shuttle service. It's saved me a lot of money from not having to Uber, use airport parking, etc. Every time I've used this for airport parking it's been Great but always a little confusing when you first arrive at the hotel and need to figure out exactly where to go/what to do. The savings makes up for it. My last experience was extremely unpleasant though. I used the app to find parking for a restaurant in downtown Toronto. It was fine getting in but once the lot filled, with two rows on both sides of the lot it becomes to tight we weren't able to pull out. We had to go in the restaurant and on the p.a ask other drivers to come out and move cars around. This wasn't because of a bad parker but the lot size isn't made for that many cars. Awesome App and Customer ServiceI cannot say enough good things about Spot Hero. Not only is the app easy to use, it takes the worry of the cost and accessibility of parking away. It makes the process so much smoother and more pleasant. I live outside NYC and have used it many times there but I have used it in other cities as well.
Recently, the garage I had arranged for was inaccessible due to street closures. I was late for work and didn’t have time to call Spot Hero to make other arrangements so I just pulled into another garage and paid almost 3 times as much. I knew that if I called Spot Hero I would get my original payment refunded.
When I finally had a chance to call, they refunded my original payment and when I provided a receipt, gave me a credit for the additional cost of the parking garage that I wound up using. Difficult to use and awful customer serviceOn multiple occasions I have tried using this app. A few time it has worked well, but other times I am unable to get the app to work while at the garage, requiring me to pay the garages fee and being stuck with the Spot Hero prepay fee. You would think this would be grounds for a refund, however, when reaching out to customer service, I received no response.
As a side note, when I have been stuck paying for the garage fee, it is generally less than $5 more expensive than SpotHero, which I believe is worth not having to use this poorly constructed application.
Update: customer service was slightly rude, making me feel as though I did something wrong, instead of giving me the benefit of the doubt. Not worth it!We paid $18 for a garage in downtown Philadelphia in order to avoid the haste of finding street parking. We arrived at the garage and they turned us away because we didn’t purchase through them directly and they were full. I showed that my receipt with SpotHero and they told me that they won’t honor it since they were full despite me booking it the day prior. Got out to talk to the guy and he told me to be careful the app because it solicits places that are not actually available, like the one I had picked and paid for. EXTREMELY upset and will NEVER use spothero again. I ended up being late to my broadway and having to pay a ridiculous amount for parking. Worst app ever.
Update: called into spothero and was helped by a girl named Emily. Emily was extremely helpful and not only refunded my $18 but also for the parking I had to pay for on top of the $18. She was very apologetic and made right of the situation. AMAZING customer serviceListen. I never rate apps, but SpotHero has come through for me on 3 separate occasions so I have to sing their praises.
Once I reserved a spot in a garage on SpotHero, but when we arrived, we were having difficulty locating a spot in the garage. I called SpotHero and they were completely ready to re-direct us to the nearest garage with open spaces, but someone ended up pulling out so there was no need.
The second time I booked a surface lot, and again, they were full upon arrival. We were able to find a garage right around the corner, but I still called SpotHero to let them know. They asked me to send a receipt of my new parking spot, and refunded me my original reservation. Also, had the parking been more expensive than the spot I reserved, they were willing to pay the difference.
Most recently, I reserved a spot in a sport stadium parking lot, but was not able to get to the specific entrance they needed me to navigate to to utilize my reservation. We paid for parking at another lot and I called SpotHero immediately. I couldn’t get anyone on the line by the time I needed to enter the venue, so I wrote them an email right away explaining the situation. I didn’t hear back from them for 5 days and thought I was out of luck, but a rep just got back to me and accepted a photo of my dash ticket (which had no day, time, or pricing info on it) in order to process my refund for the spot I had reserved but couldn’t get to.

Toronto - Amazingly easyI had decided to attend a concert in downtown Toronto. I try to stay away from the city if I can at any cost. After finding out my usual mass transportation park the car and take transit no longer existed I made a Google search for parking.
I must admit it was a summer Sunday but there were several events going on like the Blue Jays, The Ex and so on. SpotHero came up on my google search. I tried it as I wanted a confirmed and reserved parking spot. I got a prime location (TD towers) for under 20.00 after taxes.
I was concerned that even though it said Canadian funds they would charge me US dollars like some other apps but nope all Canadian funds. And they provide directions just follow them we ended up in the wrong spot the first time but we had to drive around the back of a building to get back to the front.

Updated: Charged twice and offered a $5 credit instead of a RefundI was booking a spot in Boston. After entering my credit card information and attempting to reserve the spot, the app stated it had run into an error. I checked my card, and there was no pending charge. I checked my email and there was no confirmation. I assumed the reservation did not go through as the app had said it had encountered a problem. I rebooked the spot without issue. I confined monitoring my card for the next two days, but only ever saw one pending charge, so I thought all was good. When I returned home from the trip and was rallying up my expenses, I suddenly found SpotHero had charged me the $70 twice. I quickly called customer service who said they did see the duplicate reservation, placed all of 7 minutes apart. Instead of a refund however, I was told it was my fault for not reaching out to customer service immediately and the most they could do for me was offer a $5 credit. Spot Hero literally stole $70 from me, blamed their App’s issue on me, and then offered me $5. I asked to speak to a manager and was informed none were available but they would call me back. I of course have never received a call back.
After jumping through several hoops and waiting many days, I was eventually refunded to my original payment method. All said and done, it’s cheaper and easier to just find a parking garage and pay them directly. Will not be using SpotHero again after the hassle..Johnyvvv14Version: 5.21.0
This app is an absolute scam do not use itI bought a spot with this app and I went to that exact spot that I had bought and I went to a concert that I spent money on my way back later that night to find that my car was towed. Miraculously I struggled as it was literally 11 o’clock at night as I was trying to figure out where my car went. which is insane because I spent money on this spot, so why are you got towed? I do not understand as miraculously finding out where this car ended up. I finally was able to get a bag after spending $200 on my wall earn money to get the car back and I contacted Support as I was very much frustrated because I spent money on this parking spot just to find out that my car was towed little did I know that’s not support was absolutely unhelpful as I asked Support they sent me to a supervisor that took me a couple days to respond just for them to tell me that I won’t get my money back and that they’re sorry because of my mistake a parking in the wrong spot which was crazy and incorrect because I parked in the right spot that I spent money on because why would I park in a spot that I did not spend money on I’m very much frustrated and still always be frustrated but it’s OK. I guess the 50 bucks left on the app that they gave back to me is more than enough for me to get scammed out of $200 again just for them to tell me that I parked in my wrong spot. Because I commute far away from my office I have to constantly enter fake addresses in order to park using a computer card. It’s a real pain. It’s the only solution that the company has given. After deleting and re-entering and deleting and re-entering to accommodate for different parking situations that my work requires including commuting from the train now the app will not even except my card. It says that my card has an invalid expiration date I have tried deleting the app I’ve tried reinstalling the app I have tried logging out and logging in nothing seems to work. I have contacted customer service multiple times and their assistance seems futile. Note this only seems to be a problem from what I can tell with the commuter card is I have no issue paying with Apple Pay.

I’ve used this app for a while and generally it’s great but the issue is when u want to use your commuter card. I catch a train that is 26 miles from my office. This creates an issue with the app as the way they have it structured you can’t park that far from your office. I emailed the company and their solution is to input a fake address that is close to my train. While this hack works most of the time, i have to delete my payment method and reset it up when I want to drive to work. It’s a real pain. Will not use again.I was not aware that I was booking the early bird special. I just put in my event information and was told to enter after 9. I arrived at the garage a few minutes after 10 and received an attitude from the attendant saying I was late and owe more money. The attendant then screeched my tires while moving my car. When I went to pick up the car, I was again told I owed an additional $24. He pointed to a printed out sign on the wall with their “policy”. I called Spot Hero where the rep also had an attitude. She told me my parking pass had all that information in big red letters. I again looked at my parking pass and found in tiny black letters (eventually) that I had to arrive by 10 for my price to be honored (which I would have done if I had known.) Meanwhile, I was already charged an additional $10 oversized vehicle fee for my small SUV. Also the email the SH rep sent me was a picture of my parking pass that looked NOTHING like the parking pass that was actually in my possession. It was not a good situation to be in, and I am very disappointed by the whole experience and the way both businesses handled it. P.S. My brother also booked a spot through SH at a different garage for the same event, and when he arrived he was told it was overbooked and sent away. No Guaranteed Parking and No Way to Review LotsAwful experience with SpotHero compared to other apps available. We booked a parking spot in San Francisco at a “5*” garage since we had a very tight timeline and didn’t want to hunt for parking. When we got to the garage (part of a hotel), we drove around for 20 minutes (at least a dozen tight levels with many cars in front of us) trying to find an open spot. When we finally found an attendant he said that they were full. When I showed him our SpotHero reservation he said that if they get full then they do not honor the reservations. What’s the point of *reserving* a spot with SpotHero if they are not guaranteed?! I understand that this is not the fault of the app necessarily but this could have been avoided if 1) SpotHero worked closely with their garages to ensure that spots are guaranteed. If a garage cannot support that, they should not be listed in SpotHero. From reading other reviews, this is a common problem. And 2) allow users to write reviews on garages. I could warn future customers to avoid this garage instead of there being some magical 5* rating for the garage that apparently isn’t coming from SpotHero customers. Needless to say, we were late to our reservation.
One good point is that support was nice and refunded my money, but I have zero trust in SpotHero’s selection of garages or their rating system. I do not use a parking app to get my money refunded... I use it to get a parking spot which apparently this one doesn’t do..MotakiVersion: 4.48.0
Amenities listed in the app are NOT TRUE for the actual lots/garages. Make sure to double check!If you do book with them, please make sure to verify with the lot you choose that the amenities listed on the app ARE ACTUALLY CORRECT. We found a parking lot through the app to use for the weekend, and on the app it said it allowed in and out. We parked there overnight the first night, then left in the morning and came back in the afternoon. 2 hours later, our car had a boot on it. They said it was booted because we left and came back. We tried to explain to them that the app we booked the lot with (SpotHero) said that this lot allowed in and out, but the booters said there was nothing they could do, and that others have had their cars booted at that lot after booking with spot hero as well because of that same reason. So I reached out to spot hero customer service and they told me that they would reimburse me the booting fees. WorstI made a reservation through the app for $75 and I put my cars make and model because the app said that if you want to avoid extra fees , put your make and model. So they charged me with another $45. By the way my reservation was at 5 pm and I went there at 2 pm. I asked if I could go in there early and the guy said if you pay the extra hours through the app , I could. So I did and I got charged for another $40 dollars. After I did that, the guy said your car is supersized so I have to charge you a supersized fee which is $60 dollars. My reservation was for 3 days by the way. I said I already paid oversized fee through the app so what is supersized fee? He said I don’t know we charge supersized fee. I said okay to that too and after that he said so in total you’ll pay $180 extra for supersized fee. I was shocked. False advertisement and scammingUsed this app to purchase a parking reservation. 1st thing I’ll say is they charged more than what you would pay if you showed up to the parking lot and paid there. 2) I reserved at 2230 Champa St. in Denver CO. The pictures shown in the reservation matched the exact location that I parked at. Even when I typed this address into my maps it took me to this location. 3) I received a $40 parking ticket claiming I did not pay for parking and stating that the location I was in was 2250 Champa St. still find this hard to believe when Apple Maps took me to this location when I typed in 2230. I even confirmed with the pictures that they advertised on my reservation and it matched. 4) when I approached spot hero about this they claimed that the ticket was valid and they would not honor it because it was “a valid ticket”. Absolutely twisted the way these new apps and people running them feel entitled to misinform customers and reap the benefits. It felt calculated like somehow the two parties worked together to make this happen. It is straight up unethical and twisted source of gain that this company is operating under. They work with tow company’s to rip you off in the kindest wayI have been using spot hero for years and it seems I keep running into the same issues over and over again. I will select the time closest to when I arrive ex9:55 am I get to the parking lot I book for 10 am and Leave my car by 10. I select the correct time and exit time. I place book and double check. Still is correct. I check again after finding out my car was towed it moved my reservation to noon, the tow company acknowledge that is was an issues that happens to their towed cars a lot. I got lucky a few times as I knew the lot manager and they were kind enough to either call or let me know instead of towing. This issues has happened over and over again multiple times, each time no resolution , just “we will look at the tech side” it’s beyond frustrating and has cost me more money than I’ve saved in my time with this app from paying the fees at garages for “incorrect parking time” yet the app shows proper time at time of booking and payment only later to show a different time. Was scammed by paying 2x the promised amount.I booked a parking ticket from 10 AM to 10 PM on Saturday in NYC. Later in the evening before my ticket expired I called the parking lot and told them that I purchased another parking ticket that extended my reservation from 10 PM to 10 AM the next morning totaling a 24 hour period. they did not tell me, however, that I needed to go physically to the parking lot and scan that new ticket in order to extend the reservation but they charged me an extra $47 on top of the $12 parking ticket that I bought for the overnight stay and then they told me that SpotHero would reimburse me for this difference and for the misunderstanding. After contacting SpotHero by email, they said that they would be able to reimburse me for this amount if I show them the receipts so I emailed all the receipts to SpotHero only to receive a follow-up email saying because I scanned both of the tickets now they cannot help me anymore and that they will give me a $10 spot hero credit although all I wanted is the $47 that I paid or was scammed for by this company. App is great, customer service is notThe app is pretty easy to use, so that’s the only reason this rating has more than one star. The company claims “we guarantee you will have a spot to park in, at the price you paid, or your money back”. That is not the case, in my experience. I had a three day trip to Minneapolis, and booked three spots in the same parking garage. Each night I was charged additional before the garage would let me leave. I attempted to call customer service, got an automated “we understand your situation might be an emergency” message, and then the line disconnected. I submitted an “email” but they limit the characters that can be included to get that claim process started. I had to reply to two separate emails to get any kind of response, as the first email thread got zero response after I submitted photos as evidence for being charged by the garage. Then, after someone replied and said I would get credit through the app (which is NOT money back), I replied saying that was not what they promised through their money back guarantee, and have heard nothing since. Should be called spot anti-hero!I had a ticket to attend a play in a downtown urban metro on a busy night (NBA game also occurring about a block away at close to the same time). I booked a spot in a garage attached to my theater where I have parked many times. When I arrived there was a sign on my garage stating the garage was full and that only patrons with a reservation could enter. I scanned my reservation and was allowed to enter the garage, only to find that there were absolutely no spots available. Several cars were circling but with no available spots there was no choice other than to depart via the exit. I tried to re-enter the garage and circle again, but my pass would no longer work since it was ‘already in use.’ At this point I was at risk for missing my event with very few available options! I was forced to pay nearly $40 for parking in the only available lot, also at risk to my own personal safety as I then needed to walk outside alone at night in a large urban metro which is not what I was expecting having booked a garage that was attached to my theater. Ripoff!Everything about this app is a rip off and I really hope the parking garage we went to tonight, sends a cease and desist order because what you are doing is criminal. For the first time ever, I decided to be proactive in my parking choices for an event tonight that my daughter had to attend. I hate the city and I don’t hate anything. However.. I loathe the city. So, I decided I would snag my parking spot early so I didn’t have the anxiety and stress of trying to find parking. If you know my area, you know it’s an absolute nightmare getting to events. Bad experiences with this appI appreciate the convenience but SpotHero frequently shows parking garages that are not available, inaccessible, or difficult for a customer to get to. On one occasion I parked in a garage at an apartment complex near Venice Beach, CA that had a steep narrow ramp going down. I was able to exit by taking an elevator up to ground level but once I went throught the door gates they locked behind me and there was no way to get back down. There was an intercom but no number for an office that you can call to be let in. The only way to get to your car is to walk down that steep ramp for vehicles. Because drivers can't see what is below them when driving down the ramp it's easy to hit a person trying to walk to their car. Because I was hit by a car as a child (and traumatized) walking down a steep car ramp was an unacceptable option. I canceled this reservation and requested my money back. A few weeks later I booked parking at a garage but the entrance gates were shut and locked when I arrived! I had to find parking elsewhere and only got a credit back. I am reluctant to use SpotHero now when parking locations are dangerous to access and sometimes inaccessible. Garages not honoring reservations, difficult refundI’ve used SpotHero twice and both times when I arrived at the garage, the attendant said they wouldn’t take me. This defeats the main purpose of this app for me and is particularly annoying since to reserve via the app, you must prepay. Both times the attendant seemed exhausted and was unhelpful, eventually telling me I needed to call SpotHero to request a refund—while driving in manhattan, and trying to find an alternate place to park, in the rain. One huge improvement would be better coordination with the garages and the attendants. If they can’t honor a reservation, empower them (or the app) to provide an instant refund and I’d suggest compensation similar to being bumped when an airline overbooks.
I have an apartment in the city and want to park somewhat regularly, but what’s irked me both times is that the attendant was saving spots for their regulars. I can understand reserving spots maybe for people who live in the building or use the garage weekly, but there needs to be a better and easier response to the person who’s used the app and prepaid. Be careful when reserving parking.UPDATE: The developer claims that that some facilities offer automatic extensions of exit times. That is NOT the issue here. The facilities offer updated extension times AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. The issue I had was SpotHero automatically updated my exit time to 24 hours and charged me extra for that time.
Make sure you carefully look at the start and exit time when booking a spot. I used the App and scheduled a parking spot for about 8 hours, but the App automatically changed my exit time to be 24 hours from the start time, and charged me for 24 hours instead of the 8 I needed it for. I didn’t realize the spot and cost was for 24 hours, since I didn’t set the exit time for that long. I had thought the extra cost was due to a high demand of parking in the area since there was a convention occurring there, and space was very limited. I called SpotHero, and as usual, there was a long wait time and no one responded within a reasonable time. I had to email them my issue, and after waiting almost 2 weeks, they finally responded essentially saying they can’t do anything since the time has already expired (of course it expired since I waited nearly 2 weeks for a response!). I’m now out a significant amount of money due to a flaw in the App that automatically sets your parking to 24 hours even though I had set it for 8. I would give the advice to make sure to look at the booking times very carefully before hitting the reserve button because this App has this flaw of setting parking to 24 hours unless you manually change it again, AFTER already setting it the first time. The System was broken at the garage so I had to pay out of pocket and never got refunded.I parked in a garage I had parked at a few times before using SpotHero, but this time when I went to leave the meter was broken and wouldn’t scan. I tried calling customer service and was on hold for 30 minutes with no answer tried three more times with no luck and needed to leave so I figured I’d photograph everything and get refunded. Terrible Service and AppVisiting Chicago and wanted to go to Shedd Aquarium, but we were worried about Parking downtown. I searched for parking online and came across SpotHero. I was super excited and paid $17 for 6 hours of parking in a garage about a mile from the aquarium. We get there, and there are 0 spots available, not only are there no spots available, but the garage is so overbooked that there are 7 other cars who also booked on SpotHero looking for spots. Keep in mind this is a very small garage. So we all get boxed in at the end/top of the garage and cars are having to reverse down to try and turn around. When we finally got to the bottom we had to wait 10 minutes to get out as the gate wouldn’t open without a ticket and there wasn’t an attendant answering the phone.
Now all of that isn’t the end of the world. I assumed that if I messaged SpotHero they would refund my card and no harm no foul. I was wrong. I messaged them immediately, they have since sent me several advertisement emails telling me how SpotHero “has my back”, but have yet to actually respond to my open ticket(it’s been a week). Super inconvenient & takes your moneyI planned out an entire day to take a friend from out of state around downtown Denver. I usually don’t spend too much time downtown, so I thought this app would make the day super simple and easy to be able to go around different places. But I was so wrong! It started in the morning, when we went to the first parking garage that I had reserved. I paid $5 in the app, but outside of the garage, it was advertised that it was only $3 to park there. Not a huge deal, but it was kinda annoying spending extra money that I didn’t need to. Some time passed and it was time to go to the second location I had reserved. And it wasn’t even a real parking area. We got there and it was super sketchy, no other cars parked there next to this abandoned building. This location costed $4 in the app, and I wasn’t able to get a refund, because we showed up there after the time it was “reserved.” We decided it was better to be safe than sorry and went to the app to reserve at another location. We found another parking garage that cost $6, paid and reserved there, got in just fine, and thought we were good to go. But, wrong again! When it was time to leave, the meter forced me to pay another $7 in order to get out of the garage, even though it was still within the time I had it reserved for! I had already paid for that spot in the app, but there was no one around to explain my situation to, so I just paid that extra $7, because that was the only way it was going to let me back on the street! At the end of the day, I ended up spending $22 for parking, when I had only hoped to spend $9, because this app kept on screwing me over and taking my money throughout the course of the day. Difficult Process Exiting the GarageI reserved a spot at the World Trade Center garage in Los Angeles. The reservation process was smooth, as the app was easy to use, the directions were clear, and getting into the garage and finding a spot was easy. But, the process of getting out of the garage was more complicated than it needed to be. At the exit you had to call for the attendant to come and get your ticket & reservation number to buzz you out. That would be simple enough if there was an actual attendant on duty at all times. One day we had a meeting to be at, and when we got to the exit and buzzed for the attendant no one answered. We were at the exit gate for nearly 15 minutes trying to reach someone. We called the number to the main office and they said someone was on the way but never came. I ended up paying the $28 nightly rate to get another ticket to get out because we were going to be late. There needs to be a better way to effectuate the exit of the garage, especially if there is not going to be 24 hour staff on standby. Awful customer serviceI used Spothero for a monthly parking service in Baltimore. I started parking from the 18th of January, and the monthly parking required time to pay in full for the month. So I called up the customer service, and was told that my payment would be prorated when I finish my parking arrangement. With that in mind I stared my account and parked there until 5 April, so that’s less than three months of parking, and because of the nature of payments, I had paid for full 4 months. With the expectation of prorated charges, I called up the customer service, and I was told by the representative that she would need to talk to her supervisor and get back to me within a day. Two days and no contact later, I call again, and get a different representative, who does the same thing again. I had called up four times to hear the same story, about talking to their supervisor and getting back to me. On my 5th call in 6 days, I apparently caught a supervisor after ~20 min wait, who said that she was made aware of my case only that morning. She did promptly process the refund, but only for the month of April. This was apparently because I was expected to call in January for the refund of my payment in January.
So in effect, I paid for 17 days of parking for no reason but that a Spothero customer representative did not know that monthly parking was not prorated. Beyond that, as a customer service representative, if you tell the customer that you’ll get back to him, please do. This was by far the most incompetent and unprofessional customer service I have come across so far in this country. Terrible appSo the only reason I am giving the app 2 star is because I dont have any other alternative at the moment. I have always had some or the other kind of issue while using this app. Most recently, I was stuck in a snow storm and could not go to take my car out when my reservation was ending, hence I wanted to extend it. I n the app there is a button to extend, for this particular garage, but when I tried doing it, it through an error. I called customer service and they told me this garage doesnt accept extentions. Why do you have the extend option for this garage if it doesnt accept it. This is basic app design. Don’t Forget About (My Reservation)Everything was working fine until my usual garage got full, and had to book at another garage. The reservation I made let me get into the facility. But when I went to leave, the reservation disappeared from the app and I could not get out automatically. Happened at two separate facilities. I have mentioned this issue to them, but it seems that went nowhere. As for account settings, I did not create an account because I am able to pay for parking using Apple Pay. Good idea but poor executionI was in Columbus Ohio and did not want to pay excessive parking fees or high Uber prices so I found this app. The first lot I used went very well, no issues. The second lot was difficult to identify but I followed the directions from the app and their were several lots near each other. I was not familiar with the area so I trusted the app that I was in the correct lot. I ended up with a parking ticket. The second day I parked in a lot and was able to find any way to identify I had paid and did not want to get another ticket so I paid again to have a ticket on my dash. I contacted customer service and it took over two weeks to get a response to both my ticket and double payment. They did refund my double payment but as a credit on the app. The ticket they stated was valid because I was unknowingly in the wrong lot. I tried calling the customer service line and was on hold for over an hour. I emailed again but have not received a response yet. Bad directionsSo my first experience with SpotHero was good. I hadn’t used it before and i was more careful. The second time traffic was bad and I was running late and I was less familiar with where I was going… so I used their navigation link. It navigated me to right in front of the garage… except it WASN’T THE CORRECT GARAGE. They used the wrong address (1400 instead of 1480) which I verified when I got home much much later. I didn’t discover the error until I went to leave at the end of the day (I was already late). I had to pay a separate garage to leave as I’d been there all day. SpotHero customer service didn’t give me a refund when I asked. They apologized that the directions were “unclear”. Unclear and wrong are two different things. If you use the navigation on the app, beware they can land you in the wrong spot sometimes and be careful before you enter the garage. They also didn’t say anything about correcting the link/address. Needs workThey do not test their GPS coordinates in Google or Apple map apps, so their locations are routinely a block off from the actual location, and the photos are generally useless never showing the street entrance to offbeat locations. Signage is incorrect or missing altogether, but on the off chance there is SpotHero signage instead of another parking service’s, it’s usually a small bumper sticker 2ft off the ground on the back of a post in an area where you aren’t supposed to park (without so much as an app picture for reference). If you don’t mind waiting 15+ minutes (and risking a hang up) you can call support to possibly confirm you’re in the right spot, or to rebook a mile or two away when there’s no open spots left, so hopefully you arrived to your event hours early. If you select an Event from their list, it preselects the time, and it makes it difficult to change the time window (until after booking), so it’s generally easier to manually select a spot and time. Terrible appI used this dumpster fire of an app once to get parking in Philly. I pulled up to the lot the spot was in and saw on their sign that their price was about $3 less than what I paid. Mildly annoying but I thought “hey I’m not gonna let a few bucks ruin my night.” So I pull up and the attendant parks my car. I’m walking out and I (thank god) over hear someone else saying to their friend “well they close at 11 so I guess we’ll just move the car then and go back.” Since my reservation was past 11 I spoke to the attendant again. He told me that the lot “closed at 11” but he was “planning to leave by 10:30” and according to him any car left in the lot after that is moved to a “secured location” for the night.
Now I understand some of this isn’t particularly spot hero’s fault. But they clearly allow reservations to be booked in spots without having a system in place to check if that reservations actually possible. They also allow for parking in some sketchy spots. This app is a neat concept but there’s definitely bugs to be worked out.

Hit or miss - overbookingI’ve used Spothero a few times in the past and it was a smooth process. Went to a concert the other day and this time, the lot had overbooked spots like crazy. Blocks and blocks of stopped cars for over 45 minutes before we decided to find parking elsewhere. Then when trying to get a refund the next day, their customer service reps tried many times to refuse my request, including not responding to my emails. They said because I didn’t have a receipt of the lot I ended up parking in, they couldn’t verify I was being truthful. Complete nonsense, they definitely get notified when someone’s booking is scanned or not. Awful experience and after I put on my Karen hat and finally got a refund, all they did was give me credits on the app so I have to use their crummy service all over again. Terrible Customer ServiceI had a garage space reserved for $20. When I got to the garage there were no spots available and I had to wait in a long line of people exiting for the same reason. I tried calling Spot Hero immediately and waited on hold for five minutes before hanging up and sending an email. I was on my way to a play with my kids so I didn’t have time to stay on the phone and waiting in the line to exit the garage really could’ve messed up our evening. Customer service is a joke to themWhile enjoying a weekend in downtown Chicago we reserved a spot that ended up not even being available, so my boyfriend ended up finding another and was told that he would receive a full refund credit to his account and thought it was resolved. Running late to where we were going we got off the phone with the representative figuring again that it was resolved, but when he checked his bank account the next day to make sure it was in fact back on the card it was not. He's now been dealing with customer service the last week and a half to resolve a very seemingly simple issue that should have been fixed over a month ago. Reading other reviews I can see that this has been an issue for a lot of people and hopefully something spot hero can work out. Fine app but very terrible customer experienceThere is a glitch in your app that sends a push notification when you have 30 minutes left on your reservation and it tells you to extend. The problem is if an extend option is not available the user experience and customer experience is very unclear and terrible. For me this miscommunication resulted in me having to pay for parking in the lot for 400% more than what I already paid in the app bc this miscommunication caused me to miss my reservation ending. When I called and emailed the customer experience responses were all condescending and it took a few weeks to final get some credit which was less than 50% of what I had paid for parking. The issue to look into is the messaging in the push notifications. If an extension is unavailable maybe the notification that your reservation is ending should exclude anything about extending. Scam!!!We used Spot Hero for the first time in NYC over the holidays. Made a reservation in midtown. When we got to the garage, they told me they were full and would not honor my reservation. Spot Hero had already charged my credit card for two nights for approximately $80 ($40 per night). I contacted them and they told me to find another garage. They would reimburse me the difference. I ended up using the valet at the hotel and paid $60 per night ($120 total). I sent them the receipt. Since they had already charged me $80. I expected them to reimburse me $120. Of course not! Instead, they credited my card the $80 and said they would apply the additional $40 to a future parking reservation. I will never see the $40 because I will never use them again. They lied to me about the reimbursement. I don’t deal with dishonest vendors. If they charge your card at the time you make a reservation, you expect the reservation to be honored. What’s the point, especially in midtown Manhattan.

Parking App Glitch Causes Updated License Plate to revert back to Previous PlateI purchased parking through SpotHero for a concert in Chicago. When I arrived at the parking destination I updated the app with the license plate of the car I was using that night, and after it showed me the plate had updated I closed the app. When I returned after the concert my car had been towed, and I immediately checked to the app to find my license plate number had been reverted back to the one I previously had on the account. I then had to pay hundreds of dollars to get to my vehicle and to get it out of the tow lot. I have used SpotHero multiple times and I am very familiar with the app and had previously had no issue changing the license plate, but on this night a glitch occurred where after I had updated my license plate and confirmed it had updated, it reverted back to the old one, resulting in this incident. I have read multiple reviews where this has occurred and instances where spothero has compensated the patron with more than just a 50 dollar credit, but instead sent them money for the amount they paid the towing company. In my case, spothero has refused to acknowledge fault for the incident, even though it only occurred due to their faulty app, and they refused to provide compensation for the money I paid the tow company. I would advise other customers to find another company to purchase parking through in order to avoid issues like this that can occur in their app that they refuse to fix/acknowledge, or check your license plate number a million times after it already showed it had updated to make sure it doesn’t flat out revert to the incorrect license plate number to avoid being towed, even though this is a ridiculous thing to expect customers to do after they have already seen the app update properly, just to revert later and cause incidents like this..DoctorDockVersion: 5.15.1
Parking fullUnfortunately my experience was bad, I chose my spot, paid for it and when I arrived it was full, the guy in there just kicked me out the parking lot, and said I had to apply for a refund, which I did, customer is very good and they promptly tried to help me and issued a refund, thats the reason of my second star.
The thing is, they said to me that in case of a full parking lot i could call them for reallocation, this seems nice in theory, but in real life thats a nightmare. It is you trying to call them, while a guy kicks you out from his parking and cars honking behind you, and you have nowhere else to park.
So as advertised that you GUARANTEE your parking by paying in advance is a lie, you don’t guarantee anything, it’s a shot in the dark and if you fail to park, you will be screwed to find someplace else, because you will be unable to search on spot hero or call anyone because you will have to be driving.
Bottomline: you are best trying to find street parking for free by the residential areas of NYC, it’s hard but you don't have to go through this nightmare that I did..Sandrobarros!Version: 4.43.1
BEWARE: Extending is broken and SpotHero doesn’t careBeware! ⚠️This app is a true disappointment when it comes to trying to extend garage reservations. Every garage reservation offers the ability to extend time but in reality, it’s up to the garage to determine whether it’s supported. SpotHero doesn’t differentiate between garages that support it vs those that don’t. You’ll never know until you try to extend, and this is a huge design flaw. If you try to extend, many times you’ll get an error message. You’ll call into customer support and they’ll say there’s nothing they can do. Then you’ll make it back to your car and surprise, have to pay $17 because you were 30 minutes late and get charged garage 1st hour rates that are totally reductions, and that’s on top of what you already paid SpotHero.
YOU SPEND MORE MONEY USING THIS APP THAN IF YOU JUST WENT TO A GARAGE

VERY frustrating experience- horrible customer service.Booked a space in NYC, paid oversized vehicle fee (charged by SpaceHero) got to the garage and was told that they did not accept pickups. SpaceHero knew our type of car and size when we made a reservation - they charged us an oversized vehicle charge implying that the garage accepted pickups. Confirmation parking passes are loaded with information on what vehicles are accepted at a specific garage - but this is AFTER the booking is made. Yes, we are guilty of not looking at the pass till we checked in - but here’s an idea; since you know the type of car a customer has AND you know what vehicles the garage accepts maybe you could not show garages that don’t accept oversized vehicles. We called you several times as soon as we were rejected from the garage - the fact that we contacted you later than the scheduled time is mute, as is asking for a receipt in order to get a refund (your company did not provide any service - why on earth would we need to provide you with ANY receipts).

Doesn’t work well in ChicagoI don’t normally write reviews, but my recent experiences using this app need to be addressed. I used to be able to use this app without much issue, however I’m not sure if something has changed recently but multiple times in a row I have showed up to park at a spot and the garage has been closed or full. It has made me late to multiple shows in the city since I have to emergency find a new spot to park in, and usually the new spot is not the safest place to be leaving my car since I will usually have to settle for lot or street parking. Please do a better job vetting your garage partners so I don’t have to find a new spot last minute. That’s the entire point of reserving a spot to park in. Customer service doesn’t seem to care, offering a refund and brushing it off. City parking is stressful enough, and showing up to a closed garage that I paid for a spot in multiple times is unacceptable. Lack of consumer protection!I went to NYC with my fam and use the app to book parking for 4 days, little did I know that the parking spot/valet (415 w 45th st) are scammer, rude and tries to extort more money. I had to go to different app (google) which is too late for me to check the reviews cuz I already parked and was extorted with more money ( I HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO GET MY CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE); it’s all the same bad experience from the customer of spothero (putting reviews in google app?! Unhelpful staff and repeated delays in refunding moneyPaid for two nights of parking on Spothero. When i got to the lot, they said they were full and to just call Spothero to get a refund. And apparently to just go find parking somewhere else in midtown Manhattan.
When i called Spothero the day this happened, they said they would process a refund. After 4 or 5 days of no refund, i submitted an email request for a refund, selecting the pre defined ‘garage was full’ issue. After 4 more days of no refund, i again tried calling Spothero. The person i spoke with was rude and wanted to give me a Spothero account credit not a refund, because it had been so long since the date of the incident. They also made me to email them proof of the first phone call, because they had no record of that call.
I was told my email with proof of the first phone call and a picture of my receipt from the garage where i ended up parking when my Spothero reservation proved to be worthless, would go to the Finance department and i should hear from them in 1 - 2 days. Awful app, copy paste unhelpful customer serviceThe first time, we reserved a spot only to show up to find a 3 foot wide parking space not even big enough for a motorcycle. We were left to scramble for a new spot and were late for our event.
More recently we parked according to app directions however still received a $45 ticket from the property owner. I contacted Spot Hero who said they can’t help because it is a valid ticket I received (of course it is!). Apparently on their end, My license plate was not updated into the app. I explained that I did do it and even showed it to my husband but of course I have no proof as I wasn’t expecting an issue. Triple check navigationTheir navigation took us to the wrong garage so we had to pay twice, I thought it was my fault but looked at the navigation on google maps and said it was an hour away and then on Apple Maps said we were at the correct location but we weren’t when i physically typed in the address, it said it was 2 minutes away so 3 different locations and their app took us to the wrong one but support said it was my fault for going to the wrong one and wouldn’t give us a refund for 1 of the 2 transactions. CAR STOLEN! DONT USE THIS!!!I left my vehicle parked for 4 months while I was outside of Canada. Payments were automatically charged to my credit card on a monthly basis, and the vehicle was stored at 7 Walmer Road, Toronto, Ontario.
Upon returning today to retrieve my vehicle, I discovered that the rear window had been completely shattered. The vehicle was entirely emptied, and all personal belongings inside had been stolen. Only garbage remained inside, and multiple components of the vehicle appear to have been tampered with.
I have not attempted to start the vehicle, but there are visible signs of damage, including disconnected wiring and evidence that the hood was accessed without authorization.
I was later informed by neighbors that individuals experiencing homelessness may have been living inside the vehicle for some time, potentially as far back as two months ago. I was never notified of any of these incidents.
