Blue Letter Bible Positive Reviews
This is the ultimate bible online studyTremendous bible resource in every way, just start exploring and be sure to click on a verse and click the one in the middle of menu and you will be able view Greek and Hebrew and explanation of all words (that choice is: Concordance/Interlinear); and so much more, all ad free. It is truly amazing. I started using this app over 7 years ago. The desktop edition is also great. For this app:They keep improving on what is already great. Example: choice for you to have the chapter read aloud for you, or the whole of the book within the 66 books of the Bible. Just about every translation of the many English translations are available. Also includes Thayer’s in depth original and amazing words in Bible I continue to learn about the root meanings through this tremendous resource that the brilliant geniuses of the development team make available when you go to a verse in linear concordance and tap any word you will get Hebrew and Greek of word it even pronounces it for you and click at bottom of that page for the Thayer selection which opens up a whole realm of authentic text Insight- when you see it you’ll get what I mean - hard to describe depths of this and for each word. I’m not an employee of this remarkable non profit, may I recommend supporting it. Also fully available on your web browser. iPad version is also dynamic and outstanding as well..Version: 2.71.5
Amazing study feature removed with latest updateHello. I’ve been using your app for years and it’s one of the best study tools available on iOS. I was extremely surprised to see in the latest update released this week that in the interlinear you NO LONGER can see where a Strong’s number is used for the corresponding Hebrew or Greek word you want to study. For instance there are several words used for wisdom in proverbs. I used to could pick a verse, click on the word for wisdom and see all verses where the word was used. That I can still do but it NO LONGER shows in the list of scriptures where the Strong’s word I’m researching was actually used. Sometimes the word wisdom can be used twice in the same verse but 2 different Hebrew words are used. Well I no longer can see which is used for the word I’m currently studying! I just know it’s one of them but I can’t tell which one unless I actually go into that verse and study it separately. This is a major feature loss and I’m shocked this was removed. Please let us see the Strong’s numbers in the list of usage verses again. Thanks! Update: Thanks for your response. You can see the Strong’s numbers for all verses using a word AS LONG as you go to interlinear in the KJV version. I wish it was with any translation like before but at least you can still access it. This is still the best bible study app on the store!.Version: 2.70.1
Sola Scrriptura • Solus Christus • Soli Deo GloriaThe Word of God is my barometer for life; for spiritual life. The Blue Letter Bible enables me to have His Word available at times I don't have my Bible. It is truly a "user friendly" App. Blue Letter Bible also has a great website. I've been blessed with the opportunity to meet some of the Blue Letter Staff on a couple of occasions and from them, learn much more about the App and about Blue Letter's ministry. It is obviously to make God's Word available to more souls. It is a God honoring ministry • Soli Deo Gloria. The App contains many wonderful features: a) Search; b) Ability to highlight text; c) Background color/text color change; d) Audio read; and e) Scroll feature to name a few. I have found the App's features to be consistently reliable. The Blue Letter App doesn't contain a lot of extraneous, options (or programs) to distract from the pure Word of God as do some Bible Apps. In essence, The Blue Letter Bible provides one with the opportunity to have The Word in an unclouded format. In a format in which one needn't be concerned with the potentially misleading opinions of man. I love the purity of The Word of God and, with the assistance of The Holy Spirit, drawing nigh Him through His precious Word. When I consider The Blue Letter Bible App, I am made mindful of the monicker "Sola Scriptura"! Thank you Blue Letter Bible for your wonderful App! ~WyoKid.Version: 2.65.1
GlitchesOften I find in your search engine when looking for a verse by using a word or phrase inconsistent. When the verse won’t appear in my search but the word or words do appear in the verse very frustrating. Also because I really love and use your Cross Reference to get parallel scriptures to further my understanding I’ve found inconsistencies there too. For instance in Revelation 3:10 where Christ is saying He will keep the Church of Philadelphia from the hour of trial that will come upon the whole world to test those who “dwell on the earth”. In your TSk portion, you don’t even reference “dwell on earth” in your categories of search. Notice the long list direct references and even a couple of indirect references as an example: Revelation 6:10,11:10,13:8,14,14:617:8 with direct quotes “who dwell on earth”. Revelation12:10 “inhabitants of the earth’; 13:12 “... and those who dwell in it” are indirect references. I have used the BLB for the last 15+ years and it was originally recommended to me by the late Chuck Missler and I especially love the # of Bibles available for cross references and the easy to use format of seeing them at a glance. Over the years the above mentioned discrepancies have frustrated me and I thought you could use this feed back to make BLB even better. Thanks for all that you’ve done and will continue to do to make Bible illiteracy a thing of the past..Version: 2.72.4
Beyond Grateful!I am beyond grateful to the developers of this app. Being able to see the Hebrew/Greek words/meanings is so very helpful and brings such helpful clarity to individual scriptures and passages. One example of this is in James chapter 1 verses 4 and 17 where the same Greek word ‘teleios’, in the first instance, is used to describe the desired effect of our testing through trials as the ‘maturing’ or ‘perfecting’ of our faith and in the second instance in verse 17, is used to distinguish that God gives both “every good (from our perspective) gift”, the stuff we want and like, from every ‘perfect’, or more helpful, “perfecting” gift, the trials and testing that we don’t like. This clarity made a huge difference in my understanding of the entire passage about counting it all joy when meeting various kinds of trials. He gives/allows both in our lives for growing us towards maturity and wholeness in our trust and confidence in Him. Seems obvious now that I read back through, but I always got stuck on “every perfect gift” before not understanding what was meant and how it differed from “every good gift”. I use this app all the time and cannot thank the developers enough for this well executed and incredibly helpful app - a true gift from above!!!.Version: 2.80.1
True to the ancient scriptures best of allll I've downloaded! This is been an incredible Bible to study out of I've been sitting with my grandfather long distance and this has helped us so much. I would like to say also that this by far is completely perfect in Word for Word chapter by chapter verse by verse perfection they made sure to get it right. And other Bibles I've heard them say the word Jew instead of Israel or the tribe of Judah instead of Israel which is the original translation you have to go back to the beginning translations to understand what the new were Bibles have changed. The new were Bibles have changed if these things against God and against man and they will reap the consequences in heaven. Never deface the Bible it is a beautiful poetic studying theology God bless America where at least I know I'm free a God-given right that we should never let go of this Bible gives it that credibility a human right God given that we are free this Bible helps you to go back-and-forth chapter by chapter verse by verse and reference new and old testament genesis words often referenced in John and Matthew by Jesus it's a beautiful scripture wonderful to share with your family..Version: 2.65.2
Life changerBLB was my first virtual bible and I was so excited when I got it because I could take my bible any where I wanted to go, but also God had a plan for me to change someone’s life with it. BLB really is a life changer. My friend and her parents were not Christians and her parents were actually against it too. One day when I was in 5th grade (or fourth I don’t remember) we were at home after school and I explained that I was a Christian and I explained what my life goals were as a Christian; she was automatically hooked and she was like “Hey, I want to be a Christian too.” After a year or so she wanted a bible like I had and so I suggested BLB and invited her to church. Sadly, her parents were, and are against it, so of course they said no. I was really disappointed and kind of frustrated because if your child wants to believe the truth then you should let them believe the truth. But after studying BLB and reading bible verses, she is now a truly wonderful believer. Please keep spreading the word of God and His love, and keep inspiring people to learn about you. And if you are wanting to become a Christian I will pray for you and I strongly suggest BLB..Version: 2.71.5
Six stars, best Bible study tool everI don’t usually write reviews for apps but this is the one exception. I use this Bible app almost every time I study my Bible. This app has everything—concordances, loads of really great and well-written commentaries, and not to mention the cross-reference feature where you can read two translations side-by-side. I recommend this Bible app to all of my Christian friends now. The commentaries have helped me to better understand difficult passages of the Bible, and the interlinear concordance has helped me so much when I want to study scripture more in depth. The strong’s definition is great, but the other dictionary-like detailed definitions that come with it are even better. I wish I could rate this more than five stars. And the fact that it is completely free testifies to the greatness of the app, that the maker of the app was more concerned about people freely studying the Bible and having the study tools they needed rather than making a profit. I can say without hesitation that the makers of the Blue Letter Bible are truly, in unironically doing the Lord’s work..Version: 2.77.3
It is like having my full desktop Bible study software all in 1 place on my phone. My iPhone X no longer supported the good Mantis Bible software I had been using to simply find in the KJV the meanings of the original Hebrew and Greek. I was forced to change. This is a great example of good is the enemy of great, because this software is great. It is like having my full desktop Bible study software all in 1 place on my phone. It is fast, intuitive, and very thorough. The fact that it is shareware is surprising giving the abundance of features and so far flawless execution. If not free I probably wouldn’t have tried it. I’m so happy I found this and will now gladly contribute to support it. If you are a Bible student this makes your studying, mobile, quick and effective. Fact check in real time messages your listening to and on the road be confident with any inspirational last minute changes you want to add to improve your own outlines. This is an unpaid review from a user who has spent about a week exploring its sundry functions..Version: 2.65.2
Seemed almost unusableUpdated review: Thanks. I was able to turn off all gestures (apparently the simple tap to reach additional information on an individual verse can’t be disabled, so that may be a problem, but less frequent by itself). I changed my rating from one star to four stars. Thanks again. Original review: Sorry, but I was trying to stick it out with this app at least until I finished the Bible in a year. But it has just gotten beyond frustrating: Seemingly a dozen different accidental touches or swipes (sometimes when attempting to do something else) cause the page to disappear and (usually) go to the preceding chapter (sometimes a “search” page or something else). If I don’t happen to remember exactly which verse I was on, I have to search through or reread the chapter from the beginning because when I get back to that chapter it always opens at verse 1 automatically, even if I happened to be on verse 47 or whatever when my page disappeared. I don’t want to be angry when I read God’s word—and other Bible apps don’t irritate me so much. I just can’t use this one anymore..Version: 2.76.1
FINALLY! The app I’ve been searching for!I have been searching for a bible or an app that easily lets me dig deeper into not only every verse, but every Hebrew/Greek word and phrase. Two taps and I have it broken down for me so that I can gain greater context. That’s the feature I’ve been using most but there are so many more features. I am still getting used to this app but I have to say I love it more than the YouVersion app for studying scripture. YouVersion is good for devotionals and has more versions/translations, but this app has the main translations used in America and more study tools. It also opens MUCH faster than YouVersion and does not lag the way YouVersion does. While I have the physical books, I can often get distracted and off track when trying to pull from multiple texts. I like that I can tap twice and get what I was looking for, then go right back into what I was reading without having to clean up and put away multiple texts..Version: 2.77.1
Used now for years and love this AppThe flexibility in this gem of an app is hands down the best out there. I have used this app for several yrs. I’ll estimate 5? I once tried to find another to compare and by far this out does them. I bookmark, highlight, add notes and refer back often. I also use this as a tool for marking resource references on a project I have been working on for several yrs. in relation to my professional work. Being able to add notes and follow up later is great. The only thing I wish it had (why it has 4 stars) (if it does I’ve never found a way) is to save all my bookmarks and highlights w notes on all my devices at the same time. So if for example I’m on my iPhone and mark something, It would be really (logical) nice that once back on my iPad I’d be able to find the same marks/notes etc. I’ve found that not to be the case. My iPad mini , iPad 10” pro and iPad 12”Pro along w my phone all have different notes and high lights. It can be very offsetting to deal with. This is unusual to see these days. Most apps work on all your devices together. The way I’ve found to work around this is by copying and pasting into my word doc app which does save my file from whatever device I’m using and can pull the same file up and copy paste when later using a different device picking up where I left off. However to have it automatically keep my stuff would be a LOT more user friendly! If it shared I’d give it 5 stars. The rest is great..Version: 2.71.5
BLB FeedbackBLB app is very easy to use and navigate. Finding a book or verse is very easy using the search button. Unlike Kindle, BLB understands the Bible organization. Most books can be abbreviated with the first three letters in the search bar (e.g. Psa 3 for the third book of Psalms). The left and right arrows at the top right side of the screen make it very easy to scroll across adjacent books. BLB also supports audio playback which I find very useful when driving or exercising (navigation to the audio app could use some improvement). The nicest feature of BLB is the ability to change from one version of a Bible to another while maintaining the location (index) of your current reading. If you read something you don’t follow in NIV, just change to NLT to get a more English translation. It does require you to be online for many of the Bible versions so I don’t know if this would work on the plane yet... Great app. I highly recommend it..Version: 2.71.5
Great Bible app, but currently affects Quickview in Mail appI have been using BLB for a very long time, and I love the app. The search, the resources, the copy/paste, navigation, the ease of use and access to multiple languages. But after the new iOS update, I noticed that PDF attachments in the Mail app wont open in quick view, but rather I had to download and open them in some other app to view them. They were considered BLB PDF files somehow, both on my iPad and iphone. I tried looking in settings, but found nothing related to the issue. I tried deleting the app and it solved the issue in Mail. So I reinstalled it, but the bug reappeared. Deleting the app fixed it every time on each device, re-installing it brought the issue back. Until I can find a way to fix it, I’m currently leaving it uninstalled, because I use mail and am dealing with documents daily. As soon as it’s fixed, I’ll have it back on, because I really am unhappy about having to go without the BLB app. 😩.Version: 2.73.3
BLBI really like this app for its ease of use and functionality. The search option is great but I would like to see an option to search for verses where you don’t know the exact phrasing. Also, currently the app is inconsistent in taking me to exactly the verse I input in the search bar, it will take me to the book and chapter but not always to the exact verse like it use to but i can live with that. One other thing that I don’t like about the app is that it doesn’t open to where I left off reading but to John 3:16. That’s a great verse but I’d rather the app open to where I was studying the last time so I have consistency in my daily bible devotion. I do love the ability to tap on a verse and go right to the study aids though. I’ve not found this in any other bible app and is very convenient. Overall this is my favorite bible app. I look forward to the addition of more translations though..Version: 2.71.5
Like everything...except searchBefore I began using BLB I used Olive Tree. I wanted the BLB because of the ability to interchange the different translations easily. I attend a church where different leaders/Pastors use different translations. There is one feature I like on Olive tree a little better is the search feature. When I search a specific word, then look it up and then come back to search for more on the same word, my list of references were still there. However BLB doesn’t seem to save my search results leaving me having to re-type the search word and pull up the list again. It would be nice if BLB retained what I was searching so I can flip from viewing the verse to the search menu easily. I hope that makes sense. I enjoy the app for everything else. I wish there was an easier highlighting method as well. When I press on a verse to highlight...a long menu of multiple features comes up and that can be distracting in the middle of a sermon..Version: 2.71
Great app!! Only missing one thing!Love this app!! Favorite things about this bible app are the many customizable highlighting options. You can have many colors and can create your own. You can even transfer your highlights if you use the app on another device! I can also view and print the various highlighted categories..so if I want to view or print all the scriptures I highlighted yellow I can do that! Also I like the auto scroll feature for if I’m on the elliptical or great for treadmill or just if you’re too tired or lazy to scroll! I like the various theme selections, as well as the font size selection.. and the new feature where you can highlight or copy multiple verses at the same time..also the fact that I can listen to the Bible on audio now is awesome! The ONLY complaint I have is that there are not enough bible translations!!! I would like to have the message and the passion translations for example 😀It would be 5 stars if it weren’t for that! GREAT app!! 💫.Version: 2.71.4
We need new updates ASAPI enjoy this app greatly, but it is in need of some fixes. For the iPad the search function is a pop-up screen instead of a separate page. This makes studying extremely hard because any time I click off of the app to go read my Bible app. My search screen goes away. The search screen needs to be is on a separate page just as it is in the iPhone app to keep search results up. Not only that I would like the option to leave my search results open even after I click on a verse to go, read it inside of the app. It is cumbersome to continue to search the same word and phrase over and over again as I examine in depth each verse connected to the topic I’m searching. this app can also use better navigation. On the Bible screen, we should be able to select a chapter and verse instead of having to scroll or search for a verse to get to it..Version: 2.79.6
Takes you to the next level in contextLanguages don’t always perfectly translate. For instance English has one word for love but Greek has several. So when Jesus is asking Peter do you love me, this app can tell you whether Jesus and Peter are talking about brotherly love or Agape love etc., and what those words mean. I have learned to take a passage and define each word in the concordance in its original language. I can get exhaustive definitions on a particular word to help better understand the intent of the writer. In the past I used that giant book The Strongs Exhaustive Concordance but this app makes it quick and easy and you can travel with it. It has taught me that no version/translation is perfect in its interpretation. When you compare a scripture in several versions that seem to not be in agreement, this app can help you decide which one is closer to the intent of the writer. I could give several examples of scriptures that are widely quoted but perhaps not understood due to the research that is available in this app. Look up Psalm 8:4-5 for a good example. You can also easily see in what other scriptures a particular word is used in the Bible to help better define it, especially applying the rule of the first use (the way it was used the first time should be the way we use it throughout)..Version: 2.76.1
Great for studyThere are many options to read the Bible, but sometimes you really find you need to study the word of God to understand the message. BLB provides an immediate access to various commentaries, actual word for word translation of the original language of the text, and a comparison of multiple translations to help understand what our Lord wanted us to know in reading each part. Without digging deeper and studying some scripture, we miss out n a lot of what is being relayed to us. Our language and everyday vernacular today is so different from that of the writers and we t no to skip over things that are not familiar, but with the context of the meaning from the culture in which it was written, we can finally get the full message and understand. Thanks so much for putting this application together. I try to use it every morning for my study..Version: 2.65.2
For Serious Bible StudentsI do a lot of detailed Bible study where I'm constantly in the Greek, it's grammar, and in the Hebrew, and this is where Blue Letter Bible (BLB) is key! Even with my other costly Bible/lexicon programs, I use Blue Letter Bible 99.5% of the time. Everything I need is right there at my fingertips and easy access: The Greek, Hebrew, grammar, lexicons, concordance, cross reference, Bible dictionaries, commentaries, different English versions, multiple language comparisons, devotional readings everything! Like I said, I have expensive Bible Greek/Hebrew lexicon programs on my computer. However, I use BLB 99% of the time for almost everything, because its right there, and the lexicons go into the proper In-depth detail on vocabulary, grammar, and language structure that I need for my study.. Anyone who are serious students of the Word of God, and enjoys Detailed Bible Study should get BLB, I highly recommend it......Version: 2.70.1
Praise The Lord, great app! This is how a real Christian app should be! Free, easy to use, so many useful tools, no strings attached. So many websites and apps that are Christian require payments, sometimes big ones just to see the content! Not cool when you're broke and just trying to get some Holy Ghost fuel. Great for studying into Gods word, and coming to a concluding in your heart what God really meant on certain words/phrases, before they were ever changed. I've been looking for bibles different than NIV, as I don't believe and get frustrated with at least half of the changes to it, and word replacements/alterations to make it "modern friendly" there is a point when that goes too far. I'm broke, and I'd donate to this app if needed. I recommend this app for die-hard, true(non judgemental) Christian's, who believe in the true Jesus Christ, who died and rose again 👍.Version: 2.71.5
Great appIt’s very helpful to have the word of God, not only hidden in our hearts, but to also have it available to share with others as the Spirit leads. There are some places where the Bible might distract, but the iphone app does not. The doctors office is one of those places.. Please pray for my doctor (God knows who he is). My doctor is listening and learning through the use of this app, and of course through the work and make ministry of the Holy Spirit. Imagine a man who must inform his patient that they may only have weeks or days to live, but in the same moment also be able to convey hope as the apostle Paul did when it appeared that all hope was taken away upon the treacherous sea. Yes! We will all die someday or the vessel containing our soul will be lost, but be of good cheer, our souls will live eternally through the cross of Jesus Christ....Version: 2.74.0
Still the BestSimply the best electronic Bible there is. The online resources are stunning. The depth is amazing. And yet all very accessible. The best! Addendum: Since my last review, other Bible apps have continued to improve. But so has BLB. It is still the best, IMO. I do wish the BLB would include A.T. Robertson’s Word Pictures of the New Testament as one of its references. The included NT lexicons (Strong’s and Thayer’s) are good, but they lack the philological depth provided by Robertson who remains the most, or at least one of the most important linguistic resources in all of New Testament textual studies. Other Bible apps have links that include Robertson’s work. I think the BLB should have it as well, mostly because the particular implementations of Robertson in those other apps is not particularly good And is even, at times, confusing..Version: 2.78.3
Very Versatile in ComparisonsI really appreciate the option of being able to read the Bible as in other Bible translations. My preference is the HNV (Hebrew Names Version) which uses the original Hebrew names as their translations been lost in the KJV and others. What I hope to see is the use of God’s name mentioned like the use of the Hebrew name for Christ is shown. This would really make this a 5 star for me, since there are very few Bibles that will even recognize use of His name in the original Hebrew text. I’ve spoke with others who shared the my same thoughts when it comes to study materials referencing the Hebrew text for any biblical names. Yours do which is why I continue to read and refer it to others. Thanks in advance for your consideration regarding make this available for students (and others) like me who would truly enjoy reading His name in that content..Version: 2.64.2
Good. Needs improvement. If you do a search, and then go to a Bible verse, there is no back button to go back to your search. And if you go back to the search field some other way, the words that you searched for are no longer in the field, nor are the search results still there. No fun. Similar things happen when you go look things up directly from a passage in an interlinear, I think. I simply don't want to lose my place or my searches! Adding a Back button that goes back to whatever was previous, in every window, would be a simple and excellent addition. A direct connection between work done on the app and on the online website would be nice. Words that are inserted by translators/publishers should either be italicized – but since there is no rich text supported in many online apps – or rendered in brackets..Version: 2.71
Excellant study and teaching app for understanding God’s word! The ability to highlight with different colors and title each one of those collars and to see all the verses in each of the respective color categories is extremely helpful in studying God‘s word. In addition the search feature is extremely helpful to look up various words. Also the ability to look up any word that you select outside the app is a time saver when encountering a word that the meaning isn’t clear in your own mind. Strong’s guide on the meaning of the Hebrew and Greek as well as the ability to parse the Hebrew and Greek words add’s greatly to the understanding of the text. For a person who knows no Greek or Hebrew or Aramaic it allows them to understand what the individual words really meant in the respective languages!.Version: 2.71.4
LOOOOOVE The App, But……when I did the transfer from my old phone(iOS 6), to my new phone(iOS 11), none of the notes, their categories; bookmarks, or their categories or any of my highlights, transferred over with the app! 🥺 Can someone help, advising of what I could have done wrong & give suggestions of how I may retrieve these essential notes from the app on my old iPhone, which I still have, w/out having to manually re-find & “type” them again, please? Thanks for taking the time to read through this review & inquiry! Blessings to each of you, along with a pointed acknowledgment to the developers of this tremendously essential app! May we each allow our loving God prepare our hearts, to receive Him at His VERY SOON Return!!!.Version: 2.78.2
Amazing Study BibleI just started using this Bible App about 3 weeks ago and can’t put it down. It is so fun and easy to use. You can quickly and easily look up the meaning of a word, read or listen to Bible commentary on whatever you’re reading, listen to the Bible being read to you, cross-reference and look up related scriptures, etc. My favorite feature is being able to record versus or chapters you want to memorize, categorize them by subject, and then be able to press play and listen to them all while you cook or clean, etc. This is a fantastic way to hide God’s Word in your heart in case there ever comes a time when we don’t have access to his Word. You will love this app. I probably don’t even know yet all the other features it may have. :).Version: 2.74.3
My favorite appBLB app is my go app for Bible study. I've used it for years. I've tried several others but always come back to this one. I've never found one that compares or comes close. The features I use most are the Strong's concordance, the commentaries, translation comparison and the search features. The only downside I've ever encountered is simply if I do not have cell service and cannot use the NKJV (KJV is always available) and the commentaries. The trade off however is that there is less memory used on my phone. I also appreciate the Bible reading feature (where someone reads the text). My husband really likes the audio commentaries and uses them often. All in all an excellent product that we are so happy to have available to study the Word with..Version: 2.65
Studying blessingsIt has been such a joy to read and study through this site. The loyalty to the gospels and the love is shown through comments of many that are part of this site, sharing their interpretation on the Bible verses. You are gifted and blessed and I thank God for all of you, from Spurge, David Guzic and all others dedicating their lives to bring an understanding that I believe is revealed to them as they become an instrument, sharing with us our Lord Jesus as the Word into our spiritual growth. Thank you Father for your son Jesus teachings, for all He did for us. In Christ Jesus. Adriana Sherman.Version: 2.76.1
WAS GREAT, Problems After UpgradeI am revising a review I did a few days ago. This has been a five star app for a long time. There were some issues with the last upgrade. The Blue Letter Bible team contacted me quickly and I found out from them one issue was not an issue but a setting that had changed or was added in the upgrade. I turned it off and was what I desired again. It is a setting with the headers and you can turn them on if you like or turn them off if you like. The other was a real bug which they were able to reproduce. The developer emailed me that he will be fixing it. That is tremendous service. So officially raising it to four stars for right now but after an update will re-review and hopefully I can put it back to the five stars that I have considered it for a very long time..Version: 2.77.0
Best Bible appThis Bible app is the best that you’ll get (which makes sense, since it’s been around since the internet began). There are multiple options no other app gives, such as a history of passages you’ve read since downloading the app, the cross reference Treasury of Scripture Knowledge section (shows similar verses based on each word of a verse), and even multiple commentaries (I recommend Matthew Henry, especially if you read the KJV). The interlinear Hebrew/Greek has crashed on me a handful of times, but opening the app again took me right back to the verses I was looking at. There are just tons of features in BLB that aren’t offered in other apps, even tools I haven’t used before because I forget about them. The interface does seem a little older, but it is not bothersome, and most of the appearance is customizable anyways. Have you ever used a Bible app that gives you the option to read two Bible versions side by side, chapter by chapter? This is an example of a feature I would use once in a *blue* moon, but it is still awesome to know I have the option. Blue Letter Bible is the greatest Bible app you’ll get, and for computers their website is even better!.Version: 2.64.2
BLB is awesome in every way!I've had BLB for several years both on a Windows Laptop and on two iOS devices, but didn't use it that much. However, in 2020 I decided to do my daily Bible readings from the NLT. So, all of a sudden I am accessing BLB every day. All I can say is "Wow! I didn't know what I was missing!" Both the UI and functionality are exceptional. For instance, it is super easy to compare Bible Versions, one verse, or side by side of entire chapters. Also, it is one-click/touch drill down to an interlinear bible to look at words in the original language. BLB's customer service is also above and beyond. I had a tiny issue and wrote the "help" email. Someone contacted me that very day and explained why this may be happening and gave me a 2 work-arounds. As it turned out the issue was related to my older iPad. And one of the "work-arounds" was really functionality that I should've been using all along. So I learned something new which made that particular function so much easier! If you're looking for an excellent Bible Software for Win, Mac, both, whether for reading or doing exegetical tasks, I highly recommend BLB..Version: 2.77.3
????When returning to blb while in x-ref mode after switching btwn different bible apps, only book name/chapter & verse # appear but no text. Also Would be extremely helpful to read offline nlt & njkv, parallel. I read all day most of my time. Online uses my battery too fast when not at home. Sometimes I use internet for nlt & another app for njkv. Both programs are wonderful. But blb offline is more excellent if only I could read these bibles offline so that I could do parallel and save on battery juice away from home & just more convenient for me since I read so much. If you decide to do this please make it VERY affordable for ALL income levels or even free, whatever is helpful for all. Thank you and God bless you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving 2017. 😇😀.Version: 2.65
The BEST Bible Teaching HelpSuch a simple but profoundly helpful tool as a Bible teacher. I travel frequently & live on a small budget, so the access to such a library of original language tools & scholarly commentary is invaluable to me. I would say that though much of the audio teachings I have heard via this app have been very helpful & great blessings to me, there are a couple of the teachers BLB presents that I have not recommended my students to listen to. I take very seriously the call to rightly divide the Word, so I strongly encourage anyone studying the Bible with commentary, whether written or spoken, to carefully examine what these people are saying in light of what God has given, knowing that men are fallible in their understanding but the Holy Spirit will guide us into truth if we are genuinely seeking & loving the truth!.Version: 2.71.5
It is absolutely the best out there!I’ve been in ministry for over 30 years, attended the requisite many schools, etc, etc, etc. I’m always looking for ways to do things better or smarter. I believe that might be why God gave us more intellect than a pine cone.... When I discovered this app and everything that is wrapped up in it, I was just floored. It just does whatever you want. There’s a very slight learning curve, but their website and Help section can get you through whatever you need. I’ve been using the app for quite a while now, and truthfully, I find that there’s more things it will/can do. It has a built in Strongs, audible pronunciation, built in commentaries from the best, multi language, etc..... it just does everything a person could want from a good Bible research tool. Do yourself a favor....download this app and use it. Try it out for 30 days. You’ll be amazed at everything that is available for you to use. Oh, the best part?.......it’s totally free! However, I’ve gotten such wonderful use of the product that now I support them financially. They’re just the best at the best price. You can’t go wrong!.Version: 2.71.5
JohnHave used Blue Letter Bible for many many years. Years ago I decided to go through the entire Bible. My cousin had found a website (BLB) and recommended I check with that. I went through the entire thing with Pastor Bob Davis, after finding his teachings on Blue Letter Bible. I had never heard of Calvary Chapel before that, and Pastor Bob kept talking about some guy named Pastor Chuck. Fast forward years later... I now pastor a Calvary Chapel. All because I wanted to learn more Bible (and GOD’s call). I have all the expensive Bible software, yet I still check with Blue Letter as an additional resource. It’s just that good. Thanks to Otis, Bob and most of all Jesus. If you want to study through the Bible... you have found the place. Even the language tools are user friendly..Version: 2.71.4
The Bible at my fingertipsI have been using BLB for several years (probably 4 or more). I, for the past 3 years, have done the reading through the Bible in 1 year using a couple different methods. I very much enjoy doing that and feel it has helped me grow in my Christian walk. I use the highlight feature highlighting with different colors to represent God’s names, God’s character, God’s commands for his people, Holy Spirit scriptures. I underline verses I want to remember AND I use the commentary when I don’t understand a passage. Honestly, I could go on and on because I really have benefited from all the features you offer and I probably have not used them all. Thank you for making God’s Word available at my fingertips anytime anywhere!!.Version: 2.71.4
A Tremendous Resource for the Body of ChristI first heard about, and subsequently downloaded, the Blue Letter Bible app at the beginning of 2019 and have found myself using this incredible resource almost every day. Not only does the app provide an excellent way to read the Scriptures in English, but the Interlinear/Concordance tool (which is just one of several study tools) has opened-up a new aspect of the Bible I’d never known. I find that being able to look at Scripture in its original language as well as reference Strong’s Concordance allows me to get a fuller picture of what a particular Scripture means or is trying to communicate. Thank you to the BLB development team for all the work you put into this truly wonderful and uplifting app!.Version: 2.71.5
BLB - My #1 Free Bible Study resource!Thank you Blue Letter Bible and the entire ministry for continuing updates and supporting the Body of Christ with all of the free resources you provide. I appreciate and use the BLB app daily for my Bible readings, listening, bookmarking favorite verses, and now note taking with titles, ability to create notebooks and more. I can now create new highlight categories and order them as I’d like. Love the search for passages feature, listen to great audio commentaries, and viewing the original Greek and Hebrew and share passages. This ministry has provided so many free Bible resources including audio Bibles, TSK, Bible comparison, text and audio commentaries, dictionaries, Interlinear with Lexicon and Hebrew and Greek pronunciations - all from a tap on a verse! To God be the glory!.Version: 2.71
Best Bible app for me, linked studies greatI have used Blue Letter Bible for several years. It has been an invaluable way to help me get deeper into God’s Word. The multiple translations and editions are helpful. Even better for me are the links to cross-references in other parts of the Bible, and detailed commentaries from pastors and Bible scholars, from the 21st Century (David Guzik, Chuck Smith) to Charles Spurgeon, all the way back to 1710 (Matthew Henry). The entire Bible is in the app on audio as well, and many of the commentators I mentioned above also link to audio sermons and studies. Download the app, select a book of the Bible you’re curious about, click on a verse, and explore the rich content that will make you a more informed reader..Version: 2.78.1
I love Blue Letter BibleI love BLB it is a trusted friend with everything you need to help lead and comfort and join you in strengthening your faith in Jesus Christ. It is filled with the voices of faithful witnesses in Christ, both new and old to guide you and keep you in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. I have gained so much from using this website I cannot begin to describe all of the benefits from having such a faithful resource. I hope and pray for the people who operate this website on behalf of Jesus Christ and stand with them as we all wait in anticipation of Christ’s return. Thank you BLB for all you have done in helping me walk more faithfully in Christ... Come quickly Lord Jesus.. I pray for all who use this site to be filled with the knowledge and hope and Love in Christ..Version: 2.71
Best Study App Since Adam! It’s hard to put into words how incredible the Blue Letter Bible app really is! For me, it has been a game changer that allows me to quickly dig deeper into the Word, and with His help, to “rightly divide the word of Truth.” My absolute favorite feature is the quick access to the Interlinear/concordance. In a click, I have access to Strong’s Concordance, embedded in every single line, word, or phrase, with links to definitions and deeper root meanings. It has helped me go beyond the surface, and to be more understanding of the subtleties and sometimes transformed meanings of more archaic language. It’s easy to feel like God allowed the internet to be invented just so, one day, there’d be a BLB app! Thank you for such a powerful study tool!.Version: 2.71.5
Audios and End Times PropheciesI greatly appreciate the audio sermons put on here from Chuck Missler and Chuck Smith and the rest. I use the automated bible reading to listen to the daily readings while I do my chores in my house; I greatly appreciate these features as well. And to highlight and to share verses. Pastor Chuck Missler was a couple weeks younger than my dad. My dad past away August of 2017 and Chuck Missler Spring of 2018. I miss them both; very smart men born around 1934. I miss them both as well as Chuck Smith. I wonder what wisdom these great men would have for us during this present day March 2021 ... especially Chuck Missler ... days of Noah, the Nephilim, the ten virgins, troubles with Iran, the peace treaties with Israel..Version: 2.77.1
My go-to app for reading or comparison or word checksThis app is wonderful for just reading God's word, as the interface is clean and simple. You can even have it read a chapter out loud for you repeatedly (good for when driving). This app is also great for checking Greek words in a verse or how other translations handle a verse, and when I'm not home, is my go-to resource for that. Unfortunately these resources are limited to verse by verse checks, unless a Greek text is set as a parallel 'translation' in the reading window. A full interlinear feature would thus be cool. Also any sort of notes on manuscript readings, or at least text editor's reading, would be helpful. Great app!.Version: 2.71.5
Solid bible appI like the ease of switching between translations. I frequently use the parallel reading pane, so I can see differences between translations. I also like the commentaries that are available. My only complaint is the navigation between books. When studying a particular book, I’m constantly looking up cross-references verses, and i haven’t figured out a way to flip back to the study text without navigating through the top menu. Some of my issue might be “operator error”, but I haven’t intuitively figured out a better way to move between books. Thanks for making a solid app that's easy to use and helps me study God’s word in a meaningful way..Version: 2.71.5
Best in depth Bible study app! Hands down!!I have had this app downloaded and have been using for years but felt the need to write a review. This has been ESSENTIAL in my study fo scripture and developing a deeper understand of the Bible. The English language just doesn’t do justice. More than once the interlinear/concordance has brought up references I had no idea about. (Look up the Hebrew meaning for “worm” in Psalms 22:6 and have some tissues handy) Thank you for doing all you have to create such a valuable resource. The only thing I wish is that there were more translations available, but that is just a preference and not a criticism. Thank you developers!!.Version: 2.78.2
Disappointed at timesI love the app and use it for reading the Bible out loud. My favorite version is NKJ, but I like to read it in different versions too. Last year I used NIV. The version used in reading out loud and the version printed on the screen didn’t match. Some of the dramatic reading I thought was poor quality, in poor taste. I haven’t had a problem really with NKJ until today. Numbers 27 starting with verse 3. Zelophehad’s daughters. I find this very disrespectful of Scripture to have it read in such a fake voice. There have been other female voices, why not this one? If you can’t afford good readers, use good volunteers? I would gladly do it, if the quality were good enough. I’m very disappointed and have considered finding another app to use..Version: 2.80.1
Blue Letter Bible AppThis application is very helpful to me when I am searching for items of interest or to confirm a Scriptural position that I have. Features in this app keep getting better!.Version: 2.78.3
Great AppRecommend for deeper bible study free for use!.Version: 2.80.1
Great study tool!Lately it’s been crashing, but when it does work, this app is my favourite study tool.Version: 2.73.3
Searching in Greek produces garbageCopying a word from a verse in LXX/TR and pasting it into the search bar produces random results. In fact, it is practically guaranteed that the word being searched for will NOT appear in the search results..Version: 2.79.7
Incredible + improvements- it allows text color to be changed ! - i wish it allowed more options for text color ( like light pink ) but i am delighted the feature exists - i wish i could take the customized text color , margins + line spacing and export it to pdf - if you tap with 2 fingers it goes full screen and rids the top and bottom bars , but I have to click like 10 x to get it - i d like it if instead of just a bookmarking option , i could draw on the pg in order to draw light unintrusive dots next to verses - i like that line spacing + margins may be customized.Version: 2.79.8
Favourite Bible AppI have several Bible apps but this is my 'go to' app. The various versions and updates are appreciated..Version: 2.79.7
Multi toolSo thankful that a friend introduced me to this app a few years ago. I don’t have a theology degree but know that the Scriptures have more meaning than the English translation offers to my Western mind. This the main multi tool I use to get a better understanding of the original text. There’s so much to discover! I love how accessible the app is and am very grateful to whoever is making it available for free. Thank you!.Version: 2.79.7
Excellent for studyReally a great app. I can look at two bible translations at the same time, and that helps so much with studying. If you are wanting to dive in the word and go deeper, this app can help you do that. A great study tool. I actually heard about it through a tv preacher that I listen to. Easy to figure things out in this app - which is nice. Thanks for the great app. Works on iPhone 6+ So if you have an older phone it works. That’s a definite plus!.Version: 2.79.6
Great free resourceI am very impressed with this site. It’s easy to find information and dig down deeper into the text. I definitely recommend it..Version: 2.79.2
Much Appreciated! The app works great, easy to navigate and with all it’s resources makes studying His word a pleasure. All I need is within this app..Version: 2.79.2
This is great!I have used this app for years. It’s great to have all you need at your fingertips. The Word itself in a myriad of translations and versions; the Greek and Hebrew words for reflection. Commentaries and dictionaries. You could do all your study on your phone. It’s free. You can donate if you desire to, but other than a yearly reminder, there is no compulsion. I love the freedom of this and have encouraged others to take advantage of this user friendly app. It will be a blessing to you. Try it out..Version: 2.78.5
This is my favourite Study Bible appThe Inter linear Concordance and Cross References are extremely helpful. Also, the absence of ads makes it possible to just focus on what I’m studying.Version: 2.78.3
Jewel of a toolThe app is great and free! Only hitch is it keeps losing my place. I would love to continue where I left off..Version: 2.78.5

BLB all around best Bible app!I have used the BLB app for about 4 years now and have liked it very much. One thing that shines about it is it is completely add free. Let’s keep it that way and give the app owner a little from time to time. I also like the app for my computer browser which is where I started using it back in 2015. It works very well for copying and pasting verses into emails..Version: 2.77.1
Colour Highlights Not WorkingColour verse highlighting does not work after the latest update. This was a great app. Why keep tweaking it and making it more complicated? Sometimes, less is more!.Version: 2.77.2
Great 👍I Love this little Bible in my Phone helps me to read some Scriptures..Version: 2.77.1
Blue letter is my go to - when in churchI found BLB in perhaps 05’ or 06’, and have been blessed exemplary since!!! When reading the word at home or in church BLB is opened to receive the glory of God and His blessing in conjunction with my journal on abide or pray.com By journaling to God we grow in maturity and become a choir singing in one voice to God. I use BLB to gorge in my knowledge and understand; to help me remember; to journal and cross reference! But, most important in ministry as a tool to disciple others. Giving GOD the glory with gratitude and grace!!! Thank you EVERYONE who is working with or has ever worked for Blue Letter Bible ~ PRAISE GOfG....Version: 2.77.0

One of the best bible appOne of the best bible app. I like it for its simplicity to use. I like the parallel bible option with various translations and the King James version with Strongs numbers. It’s very useful to my studies and it’s so very handy. I use this always on my bible reading..Version: 2.73.3
New verses previous editionHeaven to say, I prefer the old method of taking notes. The notes were attached with the passage of reference and whenever I turned to a scripture, I could peruse the notes from many messages regarding that passage. This new edition only lists all notes. If my book and verse are not a part of the title, I would never find specific notes..Version: 2.73.3
Good Greek and Hebrew references for startersGood for beginners to learn how to use the Greek and Hebrew interpretations.Version: 2.73.3
Blb bestBest bible app - my first and only choice for deep bible research Find blb look no further!!.Version: 2.73.3
Great functionsThis is a great app for many reasons. I appreciate the word search function, the daily Bible reading function, and the audio Bible functions. The Colours are customizable so you can reduce strain on your eyes. A few things that could be better: the app crashes periodically especially when I am listening to audio and try to skip chapters, I think there are some other things that I do in combination to make it crash, I can’t remember exactly what. Also if you want to listen to audio, you tap the main text and it brings up a menu, you scroll down to “listen to audio” or something like that, if you tap listen to audio it brings up another menu but if you scroll on that menu it disappears so you have to scroll down on the first menu and then tap on listen, then you will be able to see the whole menu. I would also love it if I were able to download chunks of the Bible at a time so I could listen off line but I realize there may be copyright issues or it might become a paid app. Regardless I enjoy this app and appreciate the ministry that the people running it are doing!.Version: 2.73.3
Incredible resourceI have been looking for a bible study resource for quite some time. I went with Logos for a while but it didn’t have the functionality on my phone that I was looking for. This app is incredible! It fulfills exactly my desire for root word studies and is very easy and intuitive to use. Thank you to everyone working at this organization for the hard work you’ve done to create this app. I pray that others are just as blessed by this as I have been!.Version: 2.73.3
