ICatcher! Podcast Player App Comments & Reviews

ICatcher! Podcast Player Positive Reviews

Amazing podcast appI've been using this app for many years, and it is by far the best podcast app out there. It has tons of features and configuration options. Support of the app is also great and not only for reporting issues, but also feature requests. I recommend this app to anyone who wants a great app for podcasts. UPDATE:this app just keeps getting better and better with each frequent update! 5 stars!! UPDATE UPDATE: Loving the new night time mode. Great app. I recommend it for your podcasts. UPDATE: it’s a bunch of years later, and this is still the BEST podcast app out there. Always getting updates and added features (some feel like Easter eggs. Lol). Amazing app and a must have. UPDATE: just had to use the feature where there is a playable audio file on a webpage, copy the link and then import it. Works like a charm. Very useful feature. Love this app and have had it since almost day one of it being on the App Store! UPDATE: Still loving the app. 2023 Update: still the best of casting app around. The developer really cares for their app and it shows. STILL loving this app all these years later. THE best podcast app out there..Version: 7.6.3

Very frustratingThis app does one thing very well: it does not collect your user data. Other than that, I’ve been using this for months now and it is very frustrating to use. It has a million features, but half of them don’t work consistently, and the other half are often quite confusing to figure out. For one thing, often it will decide that it can’t play an episode that you were in the middle of that you were previously playing. It will give you some error and ask you to re-download or force quit or just dismiss the error. Sometimes I’ve gotten it to play the episode later by deleting it and manually re-adding it to a podcast list. Other times that just doesn’t work and I just can’t listen to that episode ever again no matter what I try. It doesn’t have a basic recently played list. It has supposedly that will auto fill, but this also doesn’t actually capture all of the episodes you may have recently played. It will randomly tell you that a podcast you were subscribe to isn’t available. This just scratches the surface. I really wanted to like it, because I believe it’s the only one that I found that doesn’t collect my user data. But it has a lot of problems, and the fact that I’ve just spent the last 15 minutes trying to get it somehow to play the episode I was in the middle of the other day, makes me want to delete it entirely. I think it’s time for me to search again for another player..Version: 6.8.3

Feature FullI really like the functionality of iCatcher. From the smart playlists to refined selection filters to keeping track of unsubscribed podcasts to defining exactly how many new episodes I want to download to setting a start and end offset so I can skip the opening and closing credits (and ads), and much much more… So why only four stars? Well, there could be some improvements. For instance, the only playback speed under x1 available are ½ and ¾! Meanwhile, I can play faster at 1½, 2x, 2½, 3x, etc, which I never do. But if I want to go to 3/4, I have to cycle through all the higher speeds before getting to what I want. Meanwhile, I have to rewind to listen to what I missed. And then, there are bugs… The app does not play well with iOS. It crashes periodically, leading to a rebuild of the episode database. When I press the play button on my ear phones, even if that was the last app I used, I get sent back to Apple Music, instead of iCatcher. I have to manually open the app, which is not safe when I’m driving. The episode list of unsubscribed podcast does not get refreshed, so I can’t search through it unless I delete the podcast then subscribe to it. Then unsubscribe. And these are just a few of the minor annoyances. I hope they clean up the whole thing..Version: 7.6.3

Best app for serious podcast listenerI came to the app store searching for a replacement for my old podcatcher. They decided to “upgrade” and get rid of many of the tools that allowed listeners to control the settings for individual podcasts...but I loved those tools and enjoyed having that level of control / customization. This catcher caught my eye because it said I could make playlists and many pod catchers don’t allow you to easily do that, so I figured I would give it a try. Turns out this catcher was exactly what I was looking for! It’s true, you can adjust just about everything in this catcher, including somethings you didn’t know were adjustable. It’s fine for a novice or someone who doesn’t listen to a lot of podcasts, it’s easy enough to use and you can leave all the settings at their default so you can simply add podcasts and press play...BUT, if you listen to a lot of podcasts, want to make playlist with episodes from all different shows or are a control freak (jk, but not really) THIS IS FOR YOU!! If you’re here because your old podcatcher no longer does “XYZ” - get this! This catcher does the whole alphabet!.Version: 6.4.2

This is a good podcast app with minor flawsTwo things drew me to this app: it’s a one-time purchase, and it doesn’t collect data about me. Everyone else wants a subscription. ICatcher is a full-featured podcast that does everything I want, like automatically check for new episodes and add them to my playlist, has a search feature to find and subscribe to new podcasts, has an in-app browser, everything you’d expect. There are some minor irritations. Every once in a while, it redownloads old episodes I’ve already listened to, marks them unplayed, and adds them to my playlist. Also, I have a few podcasts that I’m catching up on and don’t want the newest episodes automatically added to my commuting playlist, and while it odd easy to exclude those podcast episodes from being automatically added to the playlist, I also can’t manually add episodes from the excluded podcasts. I’m pretty sure that’s a bug. I emailed the developer through the feedback option in the app, but I haven’t gotten a response. As I said, I like the one-time purchase, but I also like the tip jar, and I plan to use it. I’m glad Apple copied that from Windows Phone’s App Store. It’s a great way to support developers without being forced into a subscription..Version: 7.6.3

Where have you been all my life?I finally get fed up with my previous podcast app of choice, which shares the name with a term your weatherman may use to describe a cloudy day. That dev decided to make the watch app standalone, which broke the formerly-reliable sync from iPhones. After a couple weeks of frustration—going on a walk thinking I had my watch loaded up with podcasts—only to find that none of them were there... So after poking around reddit, I saw some recommendations for this app. For only $2.99, it seemed like a no brainer risk (although a free trial with limited functions would have been better). I imported my OPML...and HOLY SETTINGS LIST BATMAN. At first it was overwhelming. So I sent up some playlists, sent some podcasts to my watch (which WORKED) and then went on with my day. But then after a few days, I took the time to dive into the settings....and 20 minutes later, I now have a podcast app that works exactly the way I want. There’s features and settings I didn’t even know I wanted (like badge notifications for active playlist), but now after just a few days, I can’t live without. Especially the playlist management and granular download controls This is getting long for an app review, so my TL;DR - if you want a true power user podcast app with granular controls over almost every aspect, AND a reliable Apple Watch sync, this is the app for you. For less than a cup of coffee. I hope the dev has a Mac app up his sleeve too....Version: 6.4.2

Best Podcast AppI love this podcast app. Way better than the apple built one. It has so many features and the developer has made it so stable over the years. He also updates as soon as there is a new os and new screen size. When I got my iPhone X, lots of high profile apps took forever to update for the screen but this app was updated before I even got the phone in. One thing I appreciate is that the app developer so far doesn’t limit what podcasts you can find and subscribe to. I find it kind of ridiculous that Apple can “delist” podcasts from their app. A podcast is just an RSS feed, a URL basically. The podcast app is a specialized web browser for finding and subscribing to RSS feeds. I wonder if Apple is planning to make changes to Safari so that it can’t go to certain websites. I don’t need Apple to tell me what content to listen to. Hopefully Joe agrees with this and keeps his app open and honest. Thank you sir for making such a great product..Version: 5.4

Made well & kept simple!I did a lot of research into my new podcast player and gave iCatcher a chance in 2018…. I’m still here! Why? Quite simply the developer still manages it (glitches are fixed quickly!), they do NOTHING with your data and it’s made for the podcast listener who wants it’s simple, sleek and functional! There’s a few features I love like the gestures, how you can customize just about everything (getting as in the weeds as you wish), ability to download and add to a playlist, switching back and forth between streaming/downloading and they support private podcasts! If you’re in the US and you vehicles made by Honda/Toyota- this is for you!! It’s solid, dependable and has stealthily and slick features that enhance the experience. Again you can get as into the details of how this app works as you wish. Give it a try- you won’t be sorry!.Version: 7.6.3

Was a great app. But… (update)I’ve been using this app for months and it makes my commute so much more relaxing and interesting. The app works really well - I love the fact that it moves from one podcast to the next, so I don’t have to pay much attention to it on the road. I also like that I can easily skip ahead 30 seconds or to the end of a podcast that I’m not enjoying. I’ve found it very easy to browse or search for new podcasts. Just a really great app! Nov 20, 2021 - Lately the ability to play a podcast at different speeds is not working properly. I often play them at 1.25 speed and now they just skip so badly that you can’t hear most of the words. And when I try to change the playback speed, it rewinds instead - sometimes going back to the start! This is a critical enough problem for me to shop for a different app..Version: 6.7.14

Excellent, Usable, TweakableI’ve been using iCatcher for a few years now and nothing else compares. If you listen to podcasts at home, while driving, while on construction sites, while wearing gloves, while at a desk, with full attention and peripherally, this is the tool that lets you use deep tweaks and on-the-fly nudges to make playing podcasts an addition to your day rather than a distraction. Leave all the default settings and it's as good as any other player. When the major irritations of podcast apps are too much and you have a few minutes, poke around the settings and tweak them away: Oh! I can have podcasts sorted, sure, but tell it to nudge this one a little higher so it floats to the top. Oh! Delete after listening, but wait an hour first so if I was distracted I can go back. Notifications, or not. Always skip the last thirty seconds of this one, the first ten of that one. In-app descriptions of the rich configuration choices are concise and helpful. Joy. I feel a need to list a complaint, just to make this review believable. Okay: I have had the app crash, maybe once a week. But, testament to its fundamental stability, I just open it again and there's no data lost, it's good too go: fails gracefully when it fails. Five stars, happy to keep using, you ought to use it too..Version: 6.3.1

Great playlist featuresI went through a ton of podcast apps trying to find one with the playlist features I needed, until I found this one and decided to take a chance on it. Key playlist features (for me): Ability to make static playlists of episodes where the episodes remain on the playlist even after they are played. Ability to create a playlist that filters by keyword, for example to have all episodes of a podcast with a certain word in the title. This one is extremely useful, especially for the actual play podcasts I listen to that can have multiple campaigns running simultaneously in the same feed. The only improvement here I can think of is slightly more advanced filtering, currently you can have multiple keywords to create an OR filter, the option to create an AND filter or exclude episodes from the playlist by keyword would be nice, but what this has is already something that’s made creating the playlists so much easier. You can also select individual episodes to include or exclude for cases your filter doesn’t quite handle right. The only feature I’d like that’s missing is the ability to have the display order be newest first but the play order be oldest first, however the playlist feature have made this much less necessary for me..Version: 5.3

Still My FavoriteBeen around the block looking high and low for the best podcast player/manager. Tried literally over 15 different apps searching for the one that was the most stable, had the most relevant features but also was voiceover compatible (need this feature because of my blindness). iCatcher! is THAT app, you know the one, the one you miss instantly once you start using a competing app. The new app you’re trying out feels like you’re walking in mud. And then you come back to this app and the ease, multiple features and the familiarity make listening to podcasts enjoyable again. The only thing I could ask for would be a voice booster feature to be added but even without it this is by far and away the absolute best podcast player/manager out there today. Just try it, you’ll definitely like it..Version: 6.6.3

Very nice, with limitsThis seems to be the best behaved podcast app I've tried. Adding a huge set of new podcasts via OPML worked right. Searching for podcasts on the phone worked right. It chews through refreshing a large set of feeds in a hurry. The configurable playlists offer features that I've never seen elsewhere, but have long hoped for. And adding a second synced device was as easy and transparent as you can hope for (still not very - but that's because iCloud is bad). This comes at the cost of an almost unwieldy amount of configuration possible. The interface is either a bit clunky, or not quite discoverable enough, but it does do everything I hoped it would. I'd rate it best of the pod catchers I've tried - soundly ahead of Downcast..Version: 7.0

Good, but buggyThis app does everything I need out of a podcast app and reliably transfers episodes to my watch better than any other app I've tried. Unfortunately, play/pause interactions on the watch are beyond frustrating. When pressing play either the time will advance without audio, audio will play but it'll be rewound to some other point, or nothing happens at all. Pausing with my headphones guaranteea that the app will rewind when I hit play and if I'm unlucky the audio will glitch and repeat a sound indefinitely. The only way to stop it is to open the app on my watch and press play. Headphone button is non functional when this happens. Suddenly today: episodes won't transfer to the watch. Going to settings >apple watch within the ios app acted as a dashboard to monitor my transfers and now that section is missing from settings as well. This app would be my gold standard for a podcast app if it worked smoothly. Great work, but it needs to be ironed out. The play/pause bug in particular is disruptive because I listen. To podcasts at work and I can't pause with my headphones as someone walks up to me or else I'll have to find my place again. Edit: transfers to Apple watch are working again and the apple watch section is available in settings. There wasn't an update but I'm glad it works again..Version: 6.5.4

Lots of features. Complicated UIICatcher is packed full of features. More features than I’ve found in any other podcast player, which is great. But as a result, the UI and settings are pretty complicated and sometimes difficult to figure out. Some things could easily be improved, such as allowing us to set podcast priorities using simple drag-and-drop, rather than painstakingly going to each podcast’s settings and tapping the up/down arrows a million times. And it requires like 5 steps to re-download and re-play an episode that I previously listened to. That should be a single-tap thing. Other parts of the app are just a bit outdated and reflect how old the app is. For example, iCatcher came out before iOS had emojis, so it has a small set of a few dozen icons that you can select for playlists. A more modern app would let you choose an emoji instead, which is both easier and has many more options to choose from..Version: 6.4.3

Best app for use with Apple WatchThis is hands down the best app I have found if you want to listen to podcasts and audiobooks on your Apple Watch offline. You can sideload extremely large audiobooks from iCloud to your phone and then directly to your watch. You can then listen on your watch when away from your phone and it will sync your location back when you are next paired up. Unlike many other apps I have tried to listen to audiobooks that have buggy or inconsistent behavior when playing on your watch (Audible), iCatcher just works. If you exercise and don’t want to bring your phone, this is the app you want to listen to anything you want on your watch. Highly recommend it..Version: 7.6.3

This is the one!!!I have been using this app for several years and it just continues to have the richest feature set. I especially love the gestures to quickly skip forward and backward through podcasts and the variable playback speed which can also be gesture controlled. It can also handle video podcasts which many others cannot. This is the only podcast app you need. Thank you Joe for keeping this app updated! For those of you who have been using this app for years like me, please consider leaving a “tip” periodically for the developer in Settings->tip jar to make sure the developer compensated for keeping the app going. I usually tip $10-15 per year since I use this app every single day. Thank You!!!.Version: 7.6.3

Has all the features I wantI have had issues with the features offered by podcast apps since swapping to an iPhone. This app has everything I missed from Podcast Republic and Podcast Addict. Search options with multiple episode selection for creating a playlist ( or several ). Playlist creation tools including auto addition, download or stream setting and sorting (manual, oldest/ newest order)to name a few. Playlist also goes to next episode instead of jumping to the top spot when jumping around a list The features are slightly hidden and sometimes require an extra button press compared to the previously mentioned, but a small price for being so feature rich !.Version: 6.7.4

I’ve tried them all, and this is leagues aheadICatcher is not only stable and highly functional, but it does things that perhaps no other podcast does, and certainly no other podcast app does as well. For one thing, it syncs reliably to the Apple Watch. It easily and without up-charge imports DRM-free audiobooks and .mp3/.m4a files from cloud storage or via AirDrop, and will sync these files to your Watch too. It supports audio and video podcasts. It even butters your toast every morning. Okay, I made that last one up. It’s the ideal podcast app. I’ve tried them all: —Downcast: my go-to for years, but with minimal Watch support; —Overcast: pretty, but importing files requires an annual in-app purchase and upload of the files to their server, and transfer to the Watch is not supported; —Castro: gorgeous, but opaque and difficult to use in ways the designer didn’t dictate; file import (“sideloading”) requires an annual in-app purchase and requires files be stored in iCloud. Nothing is as functional as iCatcher. Highly, highly recommended. Really, look no further. Oh, meant to mention: the CarPlay interface for iCatcher is smooth, intuitive, well-laid-out and stable..Version: 6.4.2

Great! This app is just what I needed. I have been listening to podcasts for years and it has always been a pain managing them in iTunes and syncing them over or downloading them one by one through iTunes on the phone. This app has all the features I was looking for. Update — I have been using this app for years now and it just keeps getting better. Update2 — this developer has been great he is really on top of things. Constantly keeping the app up to date. No app is bug free but it seems like when I do find a bug this developer has it fixed before I even have a chance to report it. You can’t ask for much more than that..Version: 6.8

The power-user’s podcatcher. After going through pretty much all of the well- and lesser-known podcatchers, I found iCatcher to be the most customizable & useful one, by far. The per-podcast & -playlist options are unmatched; the Apple Watch controls are intuitive & work very well on my Apple Watch Ultra (and my previous Apple Watch 4). The one time I needed assistance, the developer was very courteous, helpful, & responded promptly. I don’t have any real criticisms of this app; it’s powerful & reliable, & support is top-notch. If you listen to multiple podcasts & need the ability to manage download, sorting, & playback with any degree of customization, this is the podcatcher for you..Version: 7.6.3

Patience Pays OffAfter looking all over the App Store for a solid podcast app, you’ll need a little more patience after you download iCatcher. There is so much flexibility and so many options—it can feel downright overwhelming at first. But after you learn your way around the app, you truly can create your own perfect podcast workflow. I’m a manual-download-and-custom-playlists kinda guy. Many apps don’t let me easily organize my podcasts that way; iCatcher let’s you organize your podcasts around your habits and preferences. For $3, it’s an easy recommendation. Put in the time, be patient, and it’ll probably become the podcatcher you’ve been yearning for..Version: 7.6.3

Super Control over PodcastsThis app allows very fine grained control over how to listen to your podcasts. For instance it has a sleep timer like many other apps, but you can set it to start automatically when playing a podcast after 10pm at night. This is just one example. Very detailed and flexible. The only hang up i have is that the UI is a bit slow to handle different of gestures, so I only allow one type. The creator has obviously spent a lot of time examining all the different ways people listen to podcasts. Nice work. And now added auto-delete download after XX hours. This app is definitely for control-geeks..Version: 7.6

Still the most well-made and most powerful media app in the App StoreI have been using iCatcher for about 11 years. This app is frequently updated with new features, bug fixes, and so on. The author is very responsive, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is extremely configurable. Almost anything you could possibly want to do with a podcast, can be done with this app. Playlist, feed specific sorting, streaming, downloading, playback offsets, priorities, download frequencies, iCloud sync, and lots more I’m forgetting about. And if you’re blind, it is completely accessible to VoiceOver. More people need to find out about iCatcher..Version: 7.6.3

Incredibly functional and easy to useThis is the app that Apple should buy to replace their podcast app. There are so many features and yet it just works. If you don't want to mess with the wide variety of settings you don’t have to. I never have problems downloading or playing any podcasts and it just works. I'm not one to buy apps, especially if Apple makes an 'official' app that covers my needs but, this was worth every penny. All the problems I had with the Apple podcast app just don't exist in this excellent and well supported app. The author emailed me personally when I had a simple question! Worth it. And then some..Version: 6.7.9

My Favorite Podcast AppI have tried several different podcast apps, and this one is heads-and-shoulders above the others. I love how flexible and customizable it is. (If I had one wish, there would be a single button I could use during playback to save a particular message while it’s playing, so it wouldn’t be automatically deleted afterward. Otherwise, when driving, I have to stop playback until I can pull over, Bookmark the message, Lock it, and Add it to a Playlist that Saves Messages after Playback. (I want 99% of my messages to be deleted once I’ve heard them - just a handful would need the ability to be marked and saved for later.)..Version: 6.2

This is now my favorite appI don't know Joeisanerd but this app of his is by far my most used app on my IOS devices. It quickly filled up my iPods memory space. When I up graded to the new iPhone 5, this app was the key one to help me decide on getting the 64GB version of the phone. iCatcher makes it so easy to find new podcasts and to create customize playlists. I've tried other pod catchers like Downcast, Stitcher, and other free ones but they all had some shortfalls like too much advertising, or functionality. iCatcher just plays my selections without those things getting in the way. Well worth the $2.99. Thanks for making this and keeping it up to date Joe. 5 stars..Version: 4.6.4

So easy!Since I am fairly new to podcasts, I was searching for an easy app to use. I tried out a few but kept coming back to iCatcher. I mainly listen to musical podcasts for exercising. It’s so easy to set up playlists, search for new podcasts, download for offline listening, sync with iCloud, email myself backups, constantly updating-I could go on and on. But to me the most important is customer service. Joe has responded quickly to me everytime I needed help. How much do you find that anymore! Update:I recently had a problem with the latest update. I wrote Joe and he was immediately on it and he kept in touch until he found a solution. He really cares!.Version: 6.0.2

Most useful featuresICatcher has all of the features I was hoping to find and more that I’d wished for and never found. Extremely easy to set up, I control what displays, what downloads, how often it checks for new eps. Extremely functional and flexible custom playlists, sleep timer, replay speed setting. It even has a setting to prevent downloading tons of old episodes when something weird happens to a feed! Doesn’t default to trying to get me to subscribe to new things, and doesn’t track my data. Totally worth the price. I wish I had given up on Apple Podcasts sooner!.Version: 6.7.4

For audiobooks too!Not only is this the best podcast player, it’s also the best .m4b audiobooks player (I use Audiobook Builder on Mac to make .m4b files from my CD audiobooks, sometimes adding chapter art as well has cover art). 1) Import your .m4b files into iCatcher! with iCloud, iTunes file sharing, etc. 2) Add them to a new podcast named by author, series, or whatever. 3) make sure this podcast is not set to delete the files when you are done if you wish to keep them on you iOS device. You will be able to select chapters from the bookmarks menu while listening, and see chapter art in the list of chapters (the cover art will be what you see everywhere else). You can choose any audiobook cover as the art for the audiobook “podcast.” You will be able to bookmark, alter playback speed, and protect the files just like a podcast. If this seems like too many steps, remember the developer doesn’t even promote iCatcher! as an audiobook player. Even so, I have not found a dedicated audiobook player that beats iCatcher!.Version: 6.6.5

Good customization options but misses key elementsThis a good podcast app with many customization options, in fact too many, which can be confusing. It would be my go to app for podcasts if it had a Play Next queue that you could organize. Without it, you are limited to playing podcast episodes from playlists, or one episode at a time from the podcast subscription. I also find it confusing the way it adds all downloaded episodes when you create a new playlist, before you select the podcasts you want to include in the playlist, its not intuitive. If they improve these areas, this could be the best podcast app right now, it has some other nice features, like the well designed use of gestures to handle playback..Version: 5.2.1

Best of all podcast appsI've checked out most of the podcast apps and this one is the best! It is VERY feature rich and customizable. I really love the way that I can have custom playlists and they can be manually sorted. This allows me to have only the episodes that I want on a list and put them in the order that I want to sort them. Another feature I make great user of us the note taking. It lets me capture my thoughts very easily. And being able to have custom gestures allows me to skip forward and back just how much I want very easily. There are a few other very good podcast apps out there, but ICatcher is the best of the best!.Version: 4.3

Works well!Used this an an alternative to the apple podcast app for years. It works really well and has much more functionality. I also love how they keep it updated. I heartily recommend the app! P.S. I would prefer if the newest update to the toolbar didn’t change one aspect. When clicking on the image of the episode on the bottom left it brings you to a screen where you can barely do anything to that episode, only fast forward and pause. I really wish it brought you to the normal playback screen which is easier to use and has more options. This is what it originally did..Version: 6.3.2

Still The Best Podcast App<< Update 2/24: went back to the Apple app several months ago; was seriously disappointed, again; returned. >> I’m a heavy consumer of podcasts: audio, video, short form, long form, daily, weekly, monthly, news, entertainment, specialty interest & educational. iCatcher! is easy to set up, easy to use and lets you do pretty much whatever you want in playlist management plus it uses iCloud to sync across several devices. I’ve tried all of the other top podcast apps and still none compare to the features and flexibility of iCatcher!.Version: 8.1.5

Annoying New Issue***Newest update unfortunately has not fixed the issue. Still exactly the same as it was...appreciate it being addressed, even if it’s still a problem at current. Attempting to drag and drop within a playlist to change the order of episodes appears to now be broken... it exits the app and sends you back to the iPhone menu... or it simply puts the item you just dragged and dropped back where it was and won’t change anything. This is hugely frustrating and has just begun happening over the past month. One addition I would love to see added is for an option for episodes to begin at the first bookmark rather than the start...I bookmark the beginning of main content to try and avoid the ads or the fluff I’m not interested in, and it would be great to have the app immediately go to my bookmark when each new episode begins. I’ve used iCatcher for several years and it will always be my go to... each problem (or which there have been very few) gets resolved quickly. I have no doubts that will happen again and I will bump back to five stars..Version: 5.2.1

The only podcast app I've ever neededI've been using iCatcher for more than 6 years now and love it! It can be as simple or complex as you would like it to be. It's easy to add feeds and just play episodes, but you can do many other things if you'd like. Being able to schedule a time to refresh podcasts, whether to download over Wifi only, or even only when connected to a specific network, the ability to set up playlists of specific feeds, and many other features make this my go-to app for podcasts. Highly recommend!.Version: 7.6.3

Outstanding player (but one regression in last update?)My go-to for years. Does everything you’d want a pod catcher to do. However, in most recent update, I can’t use the next/prev buttons to go to next/prev chapter in the same episode that I used to be able to do and was vital for podcasts like Coverville that have internal chapters. The setting for allowing it to do that is still there and turned on but when I hit next, it goes to next episode instead of next chapter so I have to use the chapter toc to move between chapters. Is this a fixable regression?.Version: 8.1.2

Simply the Best - my go-to podcast app for yearsThis app is genuinely the best podcast app I’ve used. I’ve tried several others over the last decade, including the default app on iOS, and they simply don’t compare. The developer is constantly releasing updates and excellent features. I’m writing this podcast because I recently went digging for a feature and found several others that will make life even better for me using this app. Thoughtful, intuitive, user-friendly, podcast application so good that it makes me never want to switch..Version: 7.6.3

I wish I could give it six starsAfter sampling and buying essentially every podcast app that there,... I was ready to give up. They all made my head hurt. I work in a highly technical field and have no problem with advanced options, but the organization of the other podcast apps made me wonder if anyone could use these efficiently. Just when I was ready to give up I heard about iCatcher. What a difference! Finally I can navigate the app and do exactly what I want to do, organize and listen, without a painfully disheveled interface. Thank you to the developer for producing such an elegant app..Version: 5.2.1

Great podcast player!ICatcher! has been my podcast app for many years and I continue to think it’s the best thing around. The swipe gestures are the only way to fly … swipe up for faster playback, down for back to 1x. 1 finger swipe sideways does a 30 second skip, 2 finger side swipe 15 seconds all with customizable times. You can set what happens with numbers of episodes downloaded, or left over after listening… and everything just works. I’ve tried to use other apps - and I just keep coming back. If you need responsive controls - buy this app!.Version: 6.1

Excellent Podcast PlayerProvides great set of features to help you find the podcasts you want and play them when you want. I had a memory problem with the iOS Podcast player. No problem with iCatcher. You can manage your podcasts and deal with finding them, organizing them and handling downloads easily. I particularly like the control you have over how podcasts are listed, played, downloaded and refreshed. Everything I need to find and enjoy podcasts on my terms. Helps me really enjoy the experience..Version: 7.5.1

FinallyLike other podcast consumers, I found the native iOS podcast app unusable, so I tried some alternatives, mainly Podbean. Podbean would regularly fail to update my podcasts for weeks at a time. I wanted to try Overcast, but Overcast complained that I didn't have the latest iOS version. So I took a chance on a paid app -- iCatcher! It works perfectly and I am so glad to have spent the money on it. My podcasts update and if I want, I can force a refresh to see if any new episodes exist, but iCatcher! usually has already updated my list so that isn't necessary. Good job, developer!.Version: 4.0.2

Almost the best podcast app - needs Carplay!Other than not supporting CarPlay yet, I love the way this app works. It's logical to use. While playing podcasts, you double tap and they pause double tap again and they resume. You can use two fingers to jump ahead 30 seconds, or one finger to jump ahead 15 seconds. Anyway it's a great app, and I recommend that everybody try it out. Hopefully it will have CarPlay support soon. Update: seems that since I made this review, they now support CarPlay. I am upgrading my review to a five star review. Thanks!!.Version: 6.8

Outstanding! This is a great app. It works flawlessly. It has an excellent library of available podcasts. It also has lots of features that are like white glove treatment for the listener. For instance, you’re driving somewhere listening to a podcast and the GPS interrupts to give you directions, iCatcher backspaces the audio so that you don’t miss what the GPS talked over. Set a sleep timer and, instead of abruptly stopping when the timer is up, it slowly fades the sound out so that you aren’t jarred awake. It has the feel that the people who make also actually use it..Version: 4.6.4

I heart iCatcher!I've used this app every day for years. It's a wonderful alternative to the terrible podcasts app Apple released, and better than any other I've tried. I love the options for multiple playlists, streaming or downloading, different settings for different podcasts, and even the little icon. The updates are pretty frequent, and the ONE time the app was unusable it was fixed in a few days. Honestly, I just trusted the developer to fix it soon because he always takes care of bugs right away. I definitely recommend this app!.Version: 4.6.1

So powerful it should easily be the top podcatcher app.I’m a podcast fanatic and have tried almost every podcast app out there. (Except for ones which require accounts) So far none of them have touched iCatcher’s functionality - esp if you’re a power user. Because it’s so deeply configurable. Just looking at playlists - you can create automated playlists based on combinations of almost any parameter you can think of (e.g. podcast, episode, priority, bookmark, keywords, played status, download status, subscribed status, date, last unplayed...). The playlist sort functionality is equally powerful. The whole app feels so thoughtfully and carefully designed. My only problem with it is, after using it so long I have such a large list of podcasts and playlists, that the app has slowed down a lot. However I’ve tried exporting the large OPML into other podcast apps and they all perform either as slowly or worse than ICatcher..Version: 6.0.3

Podcast App That Focuses on What’s ImportantI’ve been a long time user of this app, and it has always provided features and functionality focused on acquiring, organizing, and managing podcasts. It even provides excellent search functionality, but never tries to get in your face with discoverability. I’ve tried several other podcast apps, even tried to use the stock iOS Podcasts app a few times after “improvements” were made, but always come back to this one. It’s the best, hands-down..Version: 6.7.4

Best podcast appThis app is very flexible. Love it. Apple messed up there podcasts with ios5. This one is so much better. I never plug in to sync anymore. I love the skip forward and back option. The Leo skip is great. The double tap to pause and play works great especially in the car. I usually go to sleep listening to a podcast the ability to stop it after a time is great. I could go on and on about all the great options. Just use it you will never go back to iTunes for podcasts. Thank you developers..Version: 6.8.1

Works goodI’ve had this app through a few versions over a couple years and it has been good. It’s not the most intuitive to learn how to use but a little effort reveals its ability to customize your fav’s and subscriptions to your every whim. Once set up, it operates easy and brainless and that part is cool. Suggestion to developers, instructions and explanations for features and choices should be clearer and go into more depth. Example; what is the difference between “episodes to keep” and “downloads to keep?” And what benefit is there to have different number for each one on the same podcast?.Version: 4.6.3

Just worksWorks like a charm.Version: 4.1

Best podcast app! Most complete and fully featured podcast app..Version: 4.0.3

A long time since the last update! I’m starting to get worried.Once you get the app set up the way you want it, it is a great app. It takes a little while to get it to that point because there are so many features. It is frequently updated which is a good indication that the developers are paying attention..Version: 7.6.3

Really want to like this appLove the customization the app allows for. Gestures are also really great. My biggest complaint is the UI, which has been the same for years. It’s not intuitive and very cumbersome. There really needs to be a way to load a next podcast to played next. Only way here seems to be by creating a playlist, which is not helpful if yo aren’t listening to one already..Version: 3.5.1

ICatcherFantastic! You will not be disappointed! I've tried them all. This is the best..Version: 7.6.3

Save me from apple! Thanks for saving me from the stock podcasts app!.Version: 7.6.3

Amazing!I'm a podcast maniac. I just migrated from RSS Radio because it couldn't handle my 300+ subscriptions. iCatcher does it without blinking and offers a better UI and more options. I love it!.Version: 6.8.2

Coolest podcatcherThis app work realy good with VoiceOver. The settings are more finely customizable..Version: 6.7.12

Still the bestThis is still the best iOS podcast player after all these years. It is well-maintained and has all the features you need in a podcast application. And there’s no subscription fee! Update: The features just keep coming! Chuck this dev a few clams if you can. Tip Jar is in the app settings..Version: 6.7.10

Still my #1 app.If you like podcasts you will love this app. Your radio your way! Feature rich. Well designed. The way it should be!.Version: 6.7.7

User friendly and easy to useOne of the best apps available. Managing playlists and customizing the layout of podcast is a breeze. Plus the developer regularly adds new features (some i did not realize I needed until I started to use them)..Version: 6.6.5

My favourite podcast app. Period.I downloaded iCatcher years ago. Been using it daily since then. I briefly tried other podcast apps but they never felt right. Ease of use, beautiful, powerful. This is it for me. My favourite app. :) Amazing work!.Version: 6.4.2

Fav podcast playerNot perfect, small sync issues, but it’s my go to pod player..Version: 6.6.3

Best podcast player, especially for WatchJust about everything is configurable anyway you want it. Getting podcasts on to watch for playback without iPhone present is by far the best of any player I’ve tested, and I’ve tested them all..Version: 6.4.2

Great AppI use this everyday, a great app.Version: 6.2.3

My Early Gift from iCatcher! It was a pleasure to use earlier versions of iCatcher! but I am VERY pleased with the latest version which works with CarPlay. I had added CarPlay when it became available for my older model vehicle. CarPlay compatibility was the only feature missing from iCatcher! but it had become a big enough factor that I had first gone back to Apple's Podcast app to do duplicate downloads of podcasts or episodes that I wanted to listen to while driving. I added yet another CarPlay podcast app when I gave up on Apple's built-in app for the second time. Last Saturday when I connected my apple phone, I was shocked to see iCatcher! on the car display. Wonderful! iCatcher! has all the customization and features a user could ask for and now I’m back to using a single podcast app that works in all the situations in which I listen. I’m exploring features I didn’t use before such as creating a Playlist just for episodes that I can listen to while driving. Thank you so much..Version: 6.1.1

Carplay and chromecastI love your app but would it be possible to add carplay and chromecast support?.Version: 6.1

Works great!I am really enjoying iCatcher! I can configure each podcast easily. Also, works great for adding podcasts by URL.Glad I downloaded another player..Version: 6.0.3

Just Wow! Briiliant.By far the best Podcast Player out there. (Last update) “Add new episode to several playlists” just awesome. Dev cares and super responsive. Only way to go if you like podcasts..Version: 6.0.1

Simply AmazingThis app fits my needs perfectly and is way better then what Apple makes. Great for streaming podcasts and the options allow for a lot of customization!.Version: 5.4.3

OutstandingPppUpdates have made the app increasingly user friendly. Worth the $ spent 3 years ago and even more so nowt.Version: 5.4.3

Excellent! Can't believe I was stuck using another app for so long. That one crashed all the time, this one just works properly. Very feature rich. Thanks..Version: 5.4.3

Podcasting @ it easiestHey Everyone: Been using this app for year before apple podcast got its act together and offered something decent. This app is great give it a whirl and you won’t be disaapointed..Version: 5.4.1

5 stars for CarPlay!Great app in every way possible... except it has no CarPlay!.Version: 5.4.3

ExcellentVery well organised app I’ve used from day one of podcasting..Version: 5.2.2

Much more better than apple podcast.Much more better than apple podcast. Simple to use.download protection and add to playlist really easy. All playbacks options.Version: 5.2.1

Very CustomizableBest podcast app I have ever used. Lots of options all over the app. I have used it for years. I have tried other apps also over time to check stuff out and none compare..Version: 4.6.3

Mon app de choixPermet un streaming efficace ce qui évite d’encombrer mon iPhone.Version: 4.6.5

Best podcast player - only misses skip pauses optionIt would be perfect with skip pauses..Version: 4.6.3

By far the best podcast app available. The amount of settings available on the app is amazing. I have loyally used this app for a few years now, 8 hours a day :) My favourite features are all the show specific settings available, and the app looks and feels better than all the others I’ve tried. The ability to set the start and end times of a podcast, to skip intros and outros. Set playback speeds for specific podcasts. Add keywords to exclude for a podcast feed so it won’t download episodes with that keyword, and ability to choose what days to download a certain podcast. Both are great for podcasts that release a lot or daily shows. Probably if you can think of it, this podcast player can do it..Version: 4.6

Top notchThe most customizable podcast app out there. I also love how you can import audio files from your computer directly..Version: 4.0.2

Still the bestStill the beat app of its kind. Total recommend..Version: 4.0.1

Excellent appA lot of thought went into the design and functionality. Sure beats the Apple equivalent..Version: 3.5.1

Awesome App!!This is the podcast app I've been waiting for! No more tethering to iTunes plus double speed for audio AND video - excellent. One suggestion - a 'delete all played' button to clean up all podcasts at once..Version: 1.1.4

Works, but no real iPad interfaceThe interface for iPad is really just a stretched iPhone interface..Version: 1.7.6.5

Very good appGreat app, I am blind and use VoiceOver and this app is very accessible. Only problem is that sometimes when doing a few quick 30 second jumps it suddenly seems to quit and you have rto staret over..Version: 1.2
