Viator is There For YouI have been all over the world and I’ve used viator for the special tours that do not come with the package that I bought with the travel company that I’m traveling with.
Once I broke my leg in Bangkok and I was able to get to all the sites that I wanted to see as Viator provided me with a wheelchair and someone to push me free of cost. Due to the personalized diligence, I was able to get food. I was able to see the insides of places that I had to hop up the stairs and they brought in the wheelchair and I had a wonderful wonderful trip.
On many of my Viators they have gone out of their way to show me other things, not even included in the main tour.

App Does not show ALL purchased bookingsAlthough I love all the activities that you offer and the reasonable prize points, I have to say it’s extremely annoying to be in a foreign country and not be able to easily access to many bookings that I have made in advance of my trip and instead I have to go and dig through my email to find proof of purchase and hope to God I can get in touch with somebody at support to find out about my meeting location etc. support did tell me that I could add the booking manually to the app or the web yet no matter which browser I use and try. This does not work and there is no button that says ad booking. I have updated the app I have logged out. I have removed the app and reinstalled it in the same issue occurs. Furthermore the purchase confirmation I received in my email has a link and I click the link to add it to the app, but I always get the same “Oops” message. Viator is horribleThey are helpful when convenient for them but if you have any problems they are the worst. We had a 7 day trip and used them for 3 excursions. One didn’t show up and they did nothing to help. Didn’t give us a credit or anything even though it ruined a day of our vacation. Then, one of us got food poisoning and couldn’t go on a following excursion and they wouldn’t give us our money back. They charged us $500 even though we didn’t go! And even though the local company said we could have our money back!! So they are allowed to no show but when we have a medical emergency they told us to go screw. Worst app for tripsThis is the worst app for planning trips. Their policy only protects the tour companies, cancellations are impossible and refunds are impossible. They collect all your money and provide no service. They don’t vet their suppliers so the service is horrible. 2 times the supplier did not show up at all and told aviator that I didn’t show up so they did not refund me said it was my fault. Second time cancellation was 4 days ahead of time they said it was too late and collected $1500 for doing no work. The suppliers are rude and ruthless liars. Visitor support is incompetent and impossible to deal with. Absolutely the worst trip app experience. Worst, Dumbest, Most Insincere call center customer serviceI am a long time traveler who has, unfortunately, dealt with Viator on more than 500 trips in the last 10 years. I absolutely detest them. Their website is flawed and problematic… The customer service is cloying and call center-dumb… They never solve any problems. What they will do is keep you on the phone forever pretending to care only to come back with "have you tried rebooting your computer?"
I've now decided I will go out of my way to find the same tour listed on any other site in the world… Airbnb, GetYourGuide, whatever… Then give them another dollar of mine. Generally good, buggy at times.I use Viator mostly on my apps, but I noticed buggy issues occurring on both my phone and tablet. The app developers need to work on this. For example, after making bookings and receiving confirmations, the bookings don’t show up on my devices and I get constant error messages. I do receive email, confirmations, etc., so that part is good. I also have difficulty changing payment methods on a tablet, but not the phone. On the tablet I received no option to change a payment method. On the iphone, it works fine. I’ve discussed this with customer service reps who advised to delete and reinstall, which I’ve done, to no avail. Other than that, the offerings of the services is fine, app needs work. Easy, convenient, and reasonable prices!!I absolutely love Viator. It’s simple and easy to book any activity around the world! It gives you an opportunity to experience things that you’d otherwise may not be able to do or if you are able you’d pay way more money than you needed to pay. Beware Fake ToursI booked a a tour through this app. The Tour company did not show up. Complete no-show. Completely non-responsive to messages or phone call. It took hours of work and multiple phone calls and emails to Viator to get a refund. The worst part, we had one good sunny day this week to do this boat tour Because this app does not confirm to companies, and allows fake ones, our vacation resulted in having to go on an island tour on a day that was raining. Small Group Tour Sedona to Grand CanyonMy friend and I took this tour in June 2026. Our tour guide, Rasa, was possibly the best tour guide I’ve had in the US or abroad. Extremely knowledgeable, personable and indefatigable! Rasa has an encyclopedic level of information about Sedona and the Grand Canyon that added depth to the tour. Additionally, he has to be the most patient person I have ever met. The bus was comfortable and I felt safe traveling on scenic 89A (which is beautiful but can be intimidating). A word of caution: for people who get carsick - maybe this tour is not for you! The twisty roads and long day may be taxing. As it was, the most stressful part of my day was trying to decide what to see or purchase within the time we had to explore! SO IMPRESSED WITH VIATORI am 75 years old and am planning a trip to Portugal with my 2 adult children to honor my mother who passed away last October at the age of 95. Disappointed and not happyWe expected the driver to be waiting for us as we arrived at baggage claim. What we got was someone we had to call looking for him. With no answer so we called Viator who never picked up the phone as we stayed on hold for 25 plus minutes. Hung up and called the driver again who picked up the phone and said he was going to be there in 5 minutes. 5 minutes turned into 20 minutes.
We were on our way to a taxi when he finally showed up. We ordered a car to make getting to the hotel easy. We did. It pay to have to wait or for a company that never answered the phone in an emergency!!!!

NZ Mt Cook Lake TekapoYes the Mt Cook/Lake Tekapo day trip from Christchurch is stunning and not to be missed. However, I do have to give a big two thumbs up to Viator. I booked this trip at the last minute during high peak season. They were able to squeeze my son and I in. They were in constant communication and very responsive to emails in arranging a pickup point as we were not staying at a hotel. On a 13.5 hour bus trip you need a great tour guide and Anuj was more than that. He kept a great schedule to ensure everyone had sufficient time at all the rest stops/scenic spots. Definitely review !When I purchased my tickets, the seating chart provided indicated that the seats were located near the front of the stage. However, upon arrival, I discovered that the seats were actually in the worst viewing area which did not match the initial description for 0 at the Bellagio

Never get tickets to appThe tickets never show up our app! There was over two times for events where the tour guide not showing up with nobody showing up to do it so we lose the money since you can’t get a refund on the last minute. Don’t suggest using this app or Viator. Always says trip can’t be found, error. There is nobody to call they don’t answer. Santorini skip cable car tourThis was my first time using Viator. I usually use Get your Guide which has been awesome. The tour booked through viator was not as advertised. Being on a cruise ship, we had specific timing we needed to follow. The tour was advertised as a guaranteed back to ship time by our last tender time. It was also advertised as starting at 9 am sharp and encouraged those booking to take early tenders to not miss this time or they would have to take the cable cars and meet up with the tour later. The booking listing advertised that they could not wait. I made sure my family of 5 was up at 6 am and we got an early tender. We specifically booked this tour to avoid the cable car lines. When we got off our tender, there was no line for the cable car. But our tour guides made us wait an hour for 70 more people to come who were late. So we sat and waited for an hour y the port doing nothing but worry as the time we were leaving kept getting pushed back. This one hour late start cut into our sightseeing time immensely. We didn’t have long in port and were disappointed the tour did not go on as advertised and we wasted an hour waiting for late people. We were supposed to get an hour at the beach. We barely got 40 minutes at the beach and were expected to swim and order and eat a meal without this time. We were over 30 minutes late to our tender which made this relaxing vacation turn into an anxiety attack. No guarantees that were advertised held up as true. Pre booking is scamWe use this site all the time and they are great site to use for your trips and we’ve never have had any problems until now. We pre booked an excursion for 12pm on a Wednesday which meant we needed to cancel by 12pm on Tuesday to get our refund. We had something come up on Wednesday so we weren’t going to make the 12 pm Wednesday, so I tried to change our time to 10am Wednesday, but I never got a confirmation email saying that it went through. I decided to cancel the entire tour at 11:14am on Tuesday because I didn’t want to loose out on $290. I was told I would be refund the $290 in an email but I wasn’t refunded. I called and they told me my attempt to reschedule actually went through and would have needed to cancel by 10am on Tuesday to get my refund per their policy. I asked why I didn’t get and email about the change or why the tour operator didn’t send me a message about the change in time and they said they may have been a glitch in the system. I sent them pics of my email and what the site showed as I canceled showing I would get a full refund with no cancellation fee. They still said they wouldn’t give me a refund per their policy. I think they are great site and I still trust them to book all my excursions, I just will never pay for booking since I now believe no matter what you will not get a refund if you you have to cancel. Will not accomodate you in honor of their policies, even if loved ones are at risk of deathI haven’t left a review before, but here we are. I think the people that work here- including the customer service agents- are great. And the website functionally works well- but should any life event occur that leaves you in a bind, do not expect this company to go to bat for you to help provide you with refunds.
For context, I was to fly to italy a few days ago but my girlfriend and her best friend were involved in a car accident on the highway the hour (no joke) of our flight. The friend was hospitalized and the following days we were prioritizing trying to be there for her over trying to fix accommodations. When we found she’d make a full recovery we called viator to reschedule our colisseum and sistine chapel tickets, and were flat-out denied refunds for 4 tickets (2x $85 colisseum + 2x $85 sistine chapel). They claimed we didn’t call them on time. That it needed to be within 24-hours- but our incident happened too near to bookings, I guess. Were we supposed to call Viator to refund within this window while we were chasing the ambulence with our friend to the emergency room?
We are going back, but we booked directly through the insurer for next time and we recommend you do the same. Avoid - Dishonest Business PracticeUpdate- they did respond and asked for a private message. In the end they still did not honor their policy. Just said it has been reviewed and no refund allowed. GLAD I PAID WITH VISA AND NOT DEBIT CARD SO I CONTESTED THE CHARGES AND GOT MY $& BACK. —- I was directed to them via the IHG Hotel site to arrange transport from AMS Schiphol airport to our hotel in Amsterdam. The app requires an answer for all forms of transport including: picking a hotel from a long drop down list of hotels in random order, from hotel to airport, arrival flight info, departing flight info, arriving and departing rail info, cruise information. I immediately contacted them to either understand or correct what was communicated with me. Pretty quickly I got a reply with a link and she guaranteed we could arrange the transport. The link went back to the exact same app to create a new booking. I sent my booking and confirm number and informed them that I already booked it but the app messed up to pick up location. Her response was to cancel the booking and by the time she did that I was less than 24 hours away and informed me that I could not get a refund. So when you try to use them and the scheduling looks complicated. Be forewarned they will use it to get your payment and leave you standing at the airport needing to arrange transport. Bad customer serviceWe used this app to book some tours, in the case of one of the tours, they didn’t disclose information about the tour operators additional charges. The tour operator informed us about those one day before the day of the tour, at which point it was too late to cancel or make any other arrangements. The tour operator told us that these charges are not hidden fees and they have been disclosed on their website, they showed us their website and we went over the Viator listing together and saw there was no mention of these fees . They told us that it is Viator that pulls information from their website and therefore it’s viators responsibility to disclose those fees. When we asked for a refund of those extra fees because it was their fault that we had to pay them, Viator refused to take responsibility, and tried to get that refund from the tour operator which they obviously refused as it wasn’t their fault. We had booked with Viator because of the flexible cancellation policy and the belief that they would handle such issues if they happen, but it is better to directly book with the tour operator. Viator offers the same cancellation policies that the tour operator would directly (often these are not as clearly stated on their websites). Terrible customer service!I booked a tour on the app with a local tour company while on a trip abroad, the information on the booking was incredibly misleading. It said in the description that there was no transport from the hotel, but a local pickup point would be provided, we were given a choice of 5 city location to choose from. As I saw each city was a completely different price and ours was nearly double the others I assumed it meant the pick up point must be close to our hotel as the pick up spot it was not listed in description. After booking I found out it was nearly 1.5 hrs from our hotel. I tried contacting the host, didn’t answer the phone, wouldn’t answer direct messages. So I tried calling Viator, despite that they also could not reach the tour company they refused to work with me to get a refund due to my concerns with the safety, communication, and misleading information in the tour description. The tour host was completely unprofessional; didn’t provide pick up info or clear communication, the communication was shady, for my own safety I canceled and Viator refused to provide even a partial refund. The app needs work to eliminate that button if real tickets for a purchased excursion are not available through the app. Furthermore, customer service is not willing to work with you if you have issues related to this… They are heavily in their vendor’s favor in transactions and will pawn off any customer service issues that need escalation to a team you’re not allowed to speak to via phone… instead they’ll ‘email you back shortly’, and then tell you ‘sorry we can’t do anything for you’ and ‘we won’t look into this matter or consider your issue any further’, even if they acknowledge that there was an issue caused by the vendor’s negligence. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE SCAMMMPlease use literally any other app to book your experiences. We booked a catamaran tour four our 5 friends in Tulum (totaling over 700$ USD) once we got to the pickup location we texted and called the two numbers that were provided and got no answer or response so after 30 minutes of waiting in the heat with no response we contacted viator customer service and asked for help and or a refund. There was no help offered so we asked for a refund and the person we were speaking to was very combative and said I should have called the tour guide before our scheduled pick up time (though it said that no where on the booking) so where that idea came from I have no clue. Failed to provide service and denied full refund!I had a very disappointing experience with Viator and would not use them again. I booked a car service through Viator to take me to the airport in Aruba. The driver never showed up. I waited over 30 minutes, which is extremely stressful when you’re trying to catch a flight.
I contacted Viator customer service while waiting, and they were unable to get in touch with the car service at all. Essentially, there was no support when it actually mattered.
What made this experience even worse is how the refund was handled. I used Viator rewards along with a small out-of-pocket payment. Since the service was never provided, I requested a full refund. Viator only refunded the cash portion and refused to return my rewards, even though the no-show was completely out of my control and the service was never delivered.
Denying a full refund for a service that never happened is unacceptable. This experience showed a lack of accountability and poor customer service. I’d give 0 stars if possibleI’ve used Viator in the past and it was a decent experience, but only in the US. When traveling to Italy, we learned it is a mess of an app. I reached out to their support team to confirm the location of our tour because their listing was confusing (listed a business, but the address listed didn’t match the business’s address). I was told a completely different location so we went there just to find out it was completely wrong. We missed 1/3 of our tour due to this. Viator’s customer service was zero help. They offered no refund or anything to make up for it multiple times. I had to push showing numerous screenshots for them to give me a 10% refund. Mind you, the tour was about $150/person. We missed 1/3 of the tour. The entry tickets alone for the first tour was barely covered, not including the guided portion. Horrible App and CompanyMy husband and I booked a $1000 helicopter ride and snorkeling tour in Australia at the Great Barrier Reef. We took a $30 uber ride to the airport and showed up 1 hour earlier than recommended to avoid any issues or complications.
Lo and behold, Viator failed to register us with the flight AND cruise manifesto, so our entire reservation was nullified. When I contacted Viator, they put me on hold for 30 minutes, only to return with the unfortunate response that they will be issuing a refund for the cost of the excursion. No apology for the loss of time. No reimbursement for the Uber ride there (and now back to my hotel). No explanation for their failure or apology. Our once in a life time trip to the Great Barrier Reef, now ruined by Viator. This company is utterly unprofessional and it’s unfortunate that they can legally function the way that they do. Shame on Zoom Helicopter Tours for also not assisting with finding a resolution.

Bad experiencesI had a reservation for antelope Canyon. The cost was $84. I called the day I was supposed to go because I had troubles with my car at the arches meaning I could not get there till the next day. They said they would not refund my money and I said I don’t want refund. I just wanted to be able to go the next day because I would be back on schedule. So I ordered another day. At $84. I spoke to the Indian’s spokesman at antelope Canyon in charge and they said they would not charge me for being a day late like Vitar said. Avoid at all costs!Viator works fine as long as everything with the tour company works, but it becomes an immensely frustrating experience as soon as anything goes wrong. I tried to cancel a tour after the tour company changed the date, and even though I was comfortably within the 24-hour cancellation window, Viator made it extraordinarily difficult to get my money back. I reached out to their support chat and didn’t hear back until the next morning, and each time I sent a new message, it took a while to get a response, each one of which seemed to be from a different person and inaccurately described the situation. The tour company itself ultimately decided to honor the cancellation policy, but Viator played no part in getting this result and basically left me to deal with it myself. By contrast, I used GetYourGuide last year and when I needed to cancel a tour for personal reasons, they responded immediately and offered to give a partial refund (even though it was completely my own fault that I was canceling). Annoying badge notificationUpdate: Appreciate developers reaching out for direct contact but not sure how to contact you guys directly.
The issue still exists. Badge notifications show N+1 (if I have an unread message it shows 2 or if I have 2 it shows 3 so when I have none it keeps showing 1). Good thing is that they are back in notifications settings so you can disable badge notifications there.
The app keeps showing a badge notification with number 1, when I open the app it shows I have something in the Brookings, but there is nothing there and all the messages are read. Worse, it doesn’t matter if you disable all the notifications in the profile settings or not it still shows. Deleting and reinstalling didn’t help either. I even tried disabling app notification in iOS notification settings, however, the app does not even show there like it’s not even in the notification part of iOS so I guess it’s not even supposed to show anything..EkipmanagerVersion: 15.11.1
Don’t use this appPlease don’t use this app. Just use the actual website of the place you want to visit. We booked a zip line adventure at Climbworks through Viator and when we got there we had found out it was canceled. Viator did send me an email that it was canceled but i never received a text message or any other notification in the app letting me know of this. And honestly, who checks their emails all day? They canceled it without any reason and i didn’t get my money back until a few days later. Now imagine if you only had enough money for that event and they took it and then canceled it for no reason and no other warning. Just don’t do it. App needs workI'm pretty confident the high rating for this appis not for the app itself bit for the experiences people are having. Those experiences are provided by independent organizations and people and not by Viator.
The app itself is very poorly designed. I wanted to search for tapas tours in Barcelona. If you just enter Barcelona you get 1000s of events, 99% of which are not tapas. You can filter by type of event but it wasn't all that helpful.
So, you try searching for "Barcelona tapas" directy. This gives you a list of one line each results. You click on and then want to check another result. So you click back but this takes you all the way to the top of the app, not back to the search results. So you click search again and now you have to manually enter "Barcelona tapas" again because the search history only shows the one result you picked, not the search terms you entered? Now you have to try to remember where you left off. Why don't the search results look exactly like the city results???
Other issues include that nothing is copyable. Needed to copy the address. not copyable. Description had urls in it of sites and apps related to the event. They are neither clickable nor copyable so you have to manually memorize them and type them into the browser or app being referenced.

Very Disappointing ExperienceI had a very frustrating and disappointing experience with Viator that I want other travelers to be aware of.
I booked a trip through Viator and accidentally clicked “cancel” on my reservation. Realizing my mistake immediately, I called Viator right away to ask them to add the ticket back or rebook it. Instead of helping, they pushed the responsibility to the local operator and told me to contact them directly.
I contacted the local operator as instructed, but they told me clearly that they could not let me join the tour because they never received any payment from Viator.
When I called Viator again, they simply said they could not do anything because the local operator “does not allow rebooking.” This makes absolutely no sense — the local operator refused only because they received no money. Meanwhile, I paid Viator, received no service, and my money was essentially taken.
Viator kept passing the blame to the local operator and pretending they were innocent, even though the payment and booking were handled entirely by Viator. There was no real effort to fix the issue, no accountability, and no fair solution.
This experience felt extremely unfair and left me feeling powerless as a customer. Please be very careful when booking with Viator. One small mistake can turn into a total loss, with no support and no responsibility taken by the company. Inconsistent CommunicationI downloaded this app to help me plan my vacation to a Hawaiian island I hadn’t visited before. I booked 3 excursions and was getting follow-up emails from 2 of the 3 providers via Viator. I checked the reviews for the excursion I wasn’t receiving an email from just to make sure there wasn’t any ‘surprise’ info I wasn’t getting, and based on what I saw assumed I just needed to show up. This was my error - I suppose I should have been super-thorough and called the vendor directly to ensure there were no further instructions (isn’t that what a booking service is supposed to do on my behalf?). Long story short - Viator did not send me the follow-up email that most travelers receive, resulting in frustration on our part and the vendor’s. Luckily the vendor was understanding and accommodating. Will not be using Viator for any further planning as I can’t trust it now. Be careful!I would give 0 stars if I could. My first experience so far with Viator has been very very disappointing. I booked an airport transfer from the Athens airport and the driver was not there when I arrived. Make sure you read the fine print as they did not refund me after multiple attempts. It was extremely disappointing because the driver completely lied and said he was there for an hour afterwards, but clearly was not as I walked straight through customs, and by the time I got to the arrival section he was already gone. I have a few things booked with Viator so hopefully my luck changes but that was an awful experience especially with two little kids in tow. On top of all that the taxi ride was very simple and easy and cost a third of the price of the airport transfer through Viator. Used to be greatThis app is really getting on my nerves as of lately. It used to be awesome. Now I can’t retrieve bookings at all. I get emails about them but when I click on the activity the interface is lacking and it’s not updated. I’ve been wasting hours now trying to cancel a tour and book another. Started a chat and their best advice was to erase the app and download again (didn’t work). Same issues on IPad. So it’s them; not me. Also, their yours are more expensive than going straight to the vendor and as some people have mentioned, some of them are SCAMMERS and Viator doesn’t care about vetting them so you are really on your own. And finally, if you are on a cruise or with time constraints, make sure your operator is not going to leave you stranded or give you a shorter version of a your due to waiting for late participants. Be aware of tour operatorsI’ve recently booked a tour that “glitched” according to the customer service rep I spoke to on the phone. It said there was 3 spots available and on their back end system it was fully booked, so it auto booked me for the next day. No confirmation, no security measures in place to assure me the change in the date was okay for.
I finally speak with supervisor Karen (yes that was actually her name) and there were reports from an internal team citing that the tour operator is unresponsive when Viator has reached out. I have the luxury of having 2 devices and while on the phone with Viator, I decided to dial my tour operator and see if they pick up the phone. They were unresponsive.
This would have been my 3rd excursion on this trip using Viator & it’s shocking that they allow this tour operator to remain on their platform. If they are unresponsive to the platform that hosts their business, what makes you think they would be to the people booking?
So this mixture of glitches and unresponsive hosts has led to this review. I like this app so much that I even said, I understand the glitch, if you would just offer me app credit instead of a refund, I could use it at a different time. They surprisingly refused. Nightmare company!!This company is a nightmare to deal with. My family of six purchased ferry tickets from Victoria to Seattle for $559. I received a confirmation email that my reservation was confirmed. On the morning of our scheduled ferry, we arrived at the terminal and were advised by Clipper (the ferry operator) that our tickets were invalid because they were completely booked. Clipper told me that they advised Viator of the full sailing and that Viator should have contacted me to reschedule our tickets or refund me. Viator didn’t contact me and instead left my family stranded in Canada. I’m still fighting Viator to get my refund of $559 for tickets that they sold me that were invalid. My family had to end up spending an additional $1,000 in travel arrangements back to Seattle so that we did not miss out flight. Worst travel appMe and my family had rented a private tour and snorkeling in the Bahamas for over $1000 and were scammed! When we showed up to the dock there were about 40 other people there waiting to board the same boat as us. We asked others and they paid only $70 a person and that we were all going on the same boat. We then called viator support and they were not helpful and said that they weren’t able to give us a refund and we would have to forfeit our money, after discussing about how to get our money back the customer support lady hung up on us! As we were calling the literal police showed up and boarded the boat that all the people were supposed to go on. Downright the worst travel app I’ve ever used and will never use it again! Changed My Tour Without Telling Me Then Refused a RefundI booked a 9:00 AM Colosseum tour through Viator months in advance, received a confirmation email, and showed up early as instructed. When we arrived, we were told the tour had already taken place at 8:00 AM. They claimed they contacted me, but they never had my phone number.
It seems they overbooked the 9:00 AM tour and quietly moved us to 8:00 without our knowledge. I booked 9:00 AM because it fit into our itinerary.
We were denied access to the tour group, handed basic entry tickets, and told to run to the entrance in the rain. Once inside, the tour guide had a literal Colosseum guard assigned to keep us physically far enough away that we couldn’t hear the group. The guard even told us “scams happen a lot in Rome” and seemed genuinely sympathetic, saying this happens more than it should.
We ended up wandering around on our own with no guide, no information, no access to the Roman Forum, and nothing close to what we paid for.
I’ve been disputing this charge for months. My credit card company confirmed the merchant refuses to issue a refund, despite clear evidence they were at fault. I’ve tried calling them directly, with no resolution.

The app makes it difficult rather than easierI find it odd that the app will not let you import trips booked through a travel agent. Even though the trips are in your name and with your associated email.
The app doesn’t not allow you to access the chat function for support.
You are able to chat via a desktop login.
My app is fully updated and I have power cycled and uninstalled/reinstalled.
I find it just plain annoying that a advertised and documented feature seems to be clearly disabled. If I hold on any of the 3 links it will not even give me the option for a hyperlink.

Buyer BewareI’ve used this app for bookings multiple times and it is clear that the management of the Viator company is sorely lacking. First of all, if you book a tour through this app instead of directly through the institution, that institution will treat you like a second class citizen in most cases and put you in separate lines that are deprioritized and overcrowded. This leads me to believe that Viator grossly underpays and/or takes advantage of its partners. It’s also been very misleading on what’s included in certain tours and what isn’t. In these cases, the tour company will usually advise that they have contacted Viator numerous times to correct the issue and update the description, but they ultimately haven’t been able to get the issue corrected with Viator. Website nightmareI don’t even know where to start with Viator, but this has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had with any booking platform.
I went online, created an account, and tried to upload everything I needed through the app—simple, right? Nope. The app wouldn’t work at all. Nothing would upload, and I kept hitting dead ends. So I did what any customer would do—I reached out to customer service.
Big mistake.
The first person I spoke to was completely clueless. No understanding of the issue, no effort to actually help—just reading off what sounded like a script with zero problem-solving skills. At that point, I was already irritated, but I gave it another shot.
I waited 24 hours and called back, hoping for better help. Somehow, it got worse. The second rep had no active listening skills, no urgency, no compassion—nothing. It honestly felt like they didn’t care at all whether my issue got resolved or not.

Locations and availability through app needs workSelected a specific city and it gave me that city and several nearby that were over an hour drive away. But I didn’t know that until after I booked to tour since I was new. App should show distance away from current or distance from city requested.
Asking for availability and checking specific dates on the app doesn’t work. If those are entered as filter criteria, the results should populate with results that meet that criteria. What ends up happening is filters are selected and yours come back with dates that the tour “operates” but may not actually be available until you select your date. On the day of the tour, the meet-up point had apparently been removed without any notice. Not even the digital ticket contained updated information. This lack of communication and support from Viator left me stranded and frustrated.
To exacerbate matters, when attempting to contact the tour company, they rudely informed me that it wasn't business hours, despite it being the day of the tour. When they finally did answer, they were unhelpful and dismissive, insisting that the information was in an email. However, I had proof through emails that the information they claimed to have sent was not provided.

Sadly, the third-party tour operator, Amigo Tours did not contact me until they day before the tour, after the cancellation window was closed. Based on the information provided in the operator's message, I realized this tour would not be suitable, and I tried to cancel through Viator. The Viator representative informed me that she had canceled the tour, but that because refund window had passed, I would need to request a special refund from Amigo Tours. Not only did Amigo Tours not refund any part of my payment, the driver showed up at my hotel the next morning and woke me up. Worst travel experienceBooked three tours, thus far there have issues with the Viator app, and two of three tours. The app does not work when attempting to get a voucher for a tour purchased. DéceptionJ’avais réservé 3 tours à Florance et tout était parfait!
En arrivant à Rome le 29 juillet j’avais une réservation pour visiter le Vatican ( musée et la basilique) à 11?h le 30 juillet 2025 avant 24 h je reçois un courriel pour confirmer la visite.
Ensuite avant 20 h je reçois un autre courriel disant que la basilique sera fermée et il vont me rembourser 15% sans me donnant autres options !
Je contacte la compagnie locale mais ils ne peuvent pas m’accommoder pour le 31 parce qu’ils sont complet !
J’essaie par l’application de discuter avec quelqu’un chez viator mais pas possible .

Recommend avoidingThere are many glitches with their services and it cost me a large sum today for a tour I did not even take due to these communication issues. Nasty companyRead all sorts of reviews before we booked and saw feedbacks on cancelled tours. Ended up getting our $557 private tour cancelled on the spot due to an arbitrary no-show. The operator and customer service tried to trick us into taking the entry tickets (and thus a partial refund), literally charged 200+ dollars for two arena tickets which are €24 on the official website. It is absolutely appalling that Viator tries to make money at the expense of their customers in these unfortunate situations that they have enabled. So book with them if you like NASTY surprises to ruin your day and want to be completely stranded for hours fighting on the phone for a basic refund while getting serious sunburns. Be awareBe sure what you are reserving you activities… for service very hard to reach! And READ carefully all small caps… because
If you want to cancel watch out musty impossible to reach them and after they same too late we will bill you anyway!! If you cancel you activity month before the your are safe!!

Poor systemI paid for 2 tickets, Viator sent me a conformation that says an email will come. An email comes with a link to get tickets. I click that forwards me to the web that opens my newly downloaded Viator app. It asks me to like with a like to my email address. I click and check my email. I click the link in my email and it confirms me. Then click to continue. The app opens and tells me the link has expired. Resend. After 5 times I could kick myself for trying it a 6th.
