FINAL FANTASY TACTICS :WotL Positive Reviews

Thank you for updating to 64bit iOS 11 compatibility!!Thank you Square Enix for the timely update. I have raised my rating from 1-4 stars!! Quick save was awesome, if that can be fixed too, all the way up to 5 stars~ I was really worried that you'd have a more "business minded" approach to fixing this game if at all. Kudos for you for making the customer/gamer first. :) My previous review is below: This game is great and I love coming back to it time and time again... but if it is not updated to 64bit, in the next iOS update whether it's iOS 10.3.2 or 11 we will not be able to continue playing. Please don't release a whole new version and make us pay for it again too. This game was expensive as it is. Release an update, fix some bugs and my rating will go back up to 5 stars. Square-Enix, you're now able to respond. It would be great to hear if you'll be continuing to support this amazing game. Please don't leave your die hard fans in the dust..Version: 2.0.0

This was my favorite on PS1I waited and waited for it to come down in price because it was my favorite ps game and I lost the disc. I agree with people who complain that it’s not optimized for the iPhone. I don’t have an iPad and it is a bit small for me to read on my phone. That seems like an easy fix via settings. But you cannot change the font size. I’m also not a huge fan of the touch controls as they are so small I often hit the wrong thing and that can be frustrating. But my biggest issue is that the enemies’ battle speed is way too fast for me to follow. There is no way to slow it down. I would upgrade my rating if we could adjust that in the settings because I like to see what’s happening on the battlefield. If you liked the original, you’ll like this port, and these little annoyances will probably not bother you. However, I can’t give this beloved game more than 3 stars due to the difficulty in playing due to the things I mentioned. On sale, it’s ok—I wouldn’t pay $14 for it..Version: 2.1.0

Fantastic Port!Hands down, one of my favorite FF games and it still holds up. Touch screen control very good, although I’ll grant that sometimes it’s not perfectly precise but I don’t think that’s to do with the game but more the nature of touchscreen control in general. I would definitely advise anyone with thick fingers to use a stylus. The only thing that keeps me from giving this a five star review is a glitch with the Belias Tor map. Every now and again, you’ll be faced with fighting a large pack of chocobos and without fail the instant I input an action after moving a unit, the game crashes. Also the auto save system is a little weird. It’s been a saving grace when a fight goes pear shaped but I’m not a fan of being given the option to start a paused game when returning to a saved game because the paused game is always in a state before the hard save and that’s messed me up a few times before I understood what was up..Version: 2.2.0

Sets the Bar for Tactical gamesI loved this for the PS1 and the remake was amazing but one thing that is lacking is the support for online playability like the remake had. Also idk what your online team has in the works but the same way that you have weekly updates and new adventures in WOTV FFBE maybe add that to FFT WOTL. I know I can’t be the only one who wants more Ramza and adventures in Ivalice. I mean I best Vagrant Story twice and FF12 three times. Along with the GBA games too. I’d love to see Ivalice expanded upon and maybe even the 50 year War in the WOTL universe. Or the fall from the golden age to FFT all the way to Vagrant Story. I know that’s a lot to ask but this would be amazing. I’ll even help write it lol!.Version: 2.2.0

(UPDATED) SQUARE, UPDATE(D) PRONTOI’m updating my review back to 5 stars. I’m very happy Square released an update day 1 with the iOS 11 launch. To help preserve this all-time classic on mobile for a new generation. This game is a treasure, and I’m truly happy to have it remain on my iPhone and iPad for the foreseeable future. If you buy this game, just be warned that in its current state, it will cease to run on the next release of iOS, iOS 11 due roughly in September 2017. So that only gives this amazing classic 3 months of life left. Given the prices Square charges for their games on iOS, I thought this was a fair warning to give to users. This is also a call for Square to get their act together and show these amazing games some love. Apples tools makes it pretty darn simple to modernize a game to run 64-bit, and Square frankly has no excuse to not update games they charge $20 or more for. At least in my view as an outside observer. I really hate to lose access to this amazing game on my iPhone, but this change has been a long time coming and warranted. If a developer cannot make a simple compatibility update in over 3 years, then what business do they have accepting money from customers anymore?.Version: 2.0.0

Still fun but complaints are warrantedI had a long flight and decided to buy this game ahead of time to have something to play. I saw the reviews about the clunky controls/awkward camera views and decided to ignore them. While overall the game is a lot of fun I feel like it is riding on it being a classic more than anything else. The game is not optimized for mobile app play (at least on a phone). I found myself mis-clicking a lot when trying to place units during their movement phase. The camera view and camera view control is also inconvenient. There are two different “option icons” during battles that you can click to change the camera orientation and the camera angle. This made navigating the battlefield cumbersome and time consuming. The ui interface requires a lot of steps to get to whatever your desired screen is (character info/shops/inventory/etc). I have never had issues fat-fingering things before but in this game it is easy to do so. Again, it does not feel like it was meant to be a mobile game. Overall the nostalgia and gameplay is still fun. However, it feels like the devs pushed out the bare minimum requirements to have it working on an app and called it a day..Version: 2.3.0

Update ideaThe cutscenes looks blurry on the iPhone XR - I’m sure they’re also blurry on newer models as well. If a dev took the original PSP copy of the cutscenes and were to edit them, one by one for each screen size for every iPhone/iPad size (tedious work, but here me out) you could add a slight 0.9% blur with photoshop, then add, maybe 2-10% noise - the videos would turn out nice and really freshen things up. Then remove all cutscenes from the original download, and have all versions of the new cutscenes in the cloud - when, let’s say, an iPhone 12 user downloads the game, they get an in game download for the iPhone 12 version of the cutscenes. Just an idea. 🤍.Version: 2.2.0

Love this GameI played this game when I was 15. And even now it is still awesome game to play. There are improved graphics, job classes, stories and system and I can play it anywhere. I really hope Square Enix really considers to put in game enhancement such as max JobPoints, max gold, characters level enhancement like the other Final Fantasy sequels in AppStore. To make it easier to beat the game and focus on the story and let the others who like to play the game regularly can play regularly. Actually I really want to purchase this game years ago, but I know if I want to wait Square Enix to add in game enhancement it’ll take my lifetime🙏.Version: 2.3.0

A true classic, nearly the definitive versionA classic game, and this is a great version. Runs without hiccups, and everything is as you remember it, the music especially makes this a masterpiece. It plays well and I don’t think the touch interface could be improved, it works well. My biggest ask, and this is not really a complaint, but is adding controller support possible? I would love to use something like my Backbone to play with a controller more easily. That would easily improve my score to five stars..Version: 2.3.0

One of the BEST games I’ve ever played!Thank you so much Square Enix, this was my favorite game on the PSP a very long time ago and I must say, of all my purchases on iPhone this game is by far my most favorite purchase of all. And the fact that you have kept this game up to date with the latest new iPhones and 64-bit, etc. shows just how committed you are to your fan base. My real hope is that a new Final Fantasy Tactics game like this will be released for the Nintendo Switch, that would be my dream come true. In any case, I love you all and thank you!.Version: 2.2.0

Great but I found a bad bug and an annoying mechanicThe game crashes when I am playing in Finnath Creek. I can’t get past it because the crash occurs when a chocobo attacks or I land a killing blow on one. It is also very annoying that the enemies always grow to match or surpass your level. You can never work hard to surpass them because they always end up at your level or higher. This makes simple encounters I should be able to overcome terribly challenging. Even at level 80, they still match me..Version: 2.0.0

Love final fantasyI gave five cuz I’ve played on PlayStation. enough said lol great work amazed y’all got on board with emulators/ roms. Note this was one of the hardest to find final fantasy games I paid nearly 70$ from game stop for it well worth it, loved it. Any chance getting another one like this I loved this just like 1-6 so what about graphics it’s story that captivated me along with 7 and 8. I love job classes in them, btw like advent y’all should make movie out of 8. I’d pay to see it!.Version: 2.2.0

No cheap tricksThis is the proper version of FF Tactics with no weird extra flashy Japanese animations or pay to play nonsense. It’s the closest to original. This is the one you want. The storyline is the best out of FF and the battle system is legendary. The dialogue was re written was not a welcome change as it seems too flowery or forced in some instances.. (like kids trying to write something in Shakespeare style) however it hasn’t changed enough for me to rate it lower than 5 stars..Version: 2.3.0

BrokenI have an iPhone 8 Plus. Had this app for 48 hours. I’ve tried it 10 times now and it freezes or crashes every time. I have yet to get past the initial cut scene. I was excited to try this and have a great rpg on my phone to replay. But unfortunately it’s unplayable and broken. I’m pretty upset I wasted my money on this. I loved this game as a kid and would love it. Update: this game runs great now. The update fixed all the issues. It’s a great game and works well on iOS..Version: 2.1.0

11.0.1 Seems to have broken something.I really love the game overall, and I think Square Enix did a great job of porting this title over from other platforms. That being said, there seem to be some compatibility issues between the latest version of the app and the new update to iOS 11.0.1. It worked fine yesterday on iOS 11.0, but now I’m pretty bummed out that I can no longer play the game on my brand new device. Hoping for an update soon to resolve the issue. :(.Version: 2.0.0

Amazing on iPhone 10Downloaded this game to play during downtime on a road trip. People said online it could be hard to click around the screen but my iPhone 10XR screen was wide enough I had no problems clicking anything. Everything else is just as I remembered it from playing this masterpiece as a kid. I’m almost through chapter 1 and only had the game 3 days. Very happy with my purchase.Version: 2.2.0

UPDATED iPhone X Periodic CrashesUPDATED: Getting worse with more frequent freezing. Freezing now occurs at onset of battle character selection screen. If it gets any worse, it will borderline unplayable. Shouldn’t take oftentimes 5-10 minutes of loading, freezing, and rinse repeat +4x just to start playing! 3/5 stars Not a review of the game itself (5 stars there); more so a review of the “software”. The game crashes/freezes when loading frequently. Sometimes it takes restarting the game 3-4x before it will finally get to a successful load. Unclear how or why. There aren’t any noticeable patterns. I think for the several years I’ve used iOS, I can count on one hand the number of times a game had crashed or froze on my iPhones or iPods or iPads. This game crashes/freezes enough to warrant this review from me. Controls are intuitive for touch screen. No other issues so far (12 hours in the game)..Version: 2.0.0

Amazing GameFirst time playing FF Tactics. I tried this a few years ago briefly on my iPhone but the screen was too small and I couldn’t see what was going on. Now playing on an iPad Pro and loving it. I beat Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy XII previously and am a big fan of Ivalice. This one is already becoming one of my favorites. Highly recommend this game, but you should definitely play it on an iPad, not iPhone..Version: 2.2.0

Speed ControlI have always loved this game from the original PS. I like that I can take it with me to play on my phone but the speed of the actions takes away from the quality. It seems like you sped up every action throughout the game. There’s no time to enjoy a summoning or the blaze from a magic spell. I’ve played FFT through at least 8 times on the PS1 and I always enjoyed the programming of the actions. Can I get an option to slow it down?.Version: 2.1.0

Still crashesThe game is great. Why wasn’t this optimized for controllers? You get used to the touch but honestly allowing it to be used for controllers would be ideal. Also, save as often as possible and have multiple saves. The game will often crash in the middle of a battle and not pick up from where you left off. Honestly it seems like the bare minimum effort of a money grab from Square. Doesn’t even seem to be remastered in the slightest..Version: 2.2.0

Great Storyline, addicting & challengingI rarely write reviews. I chose to write one about this game because it’s a classic I played back in the day and I wanted to see how the translation to an app turned out. It exceeded my expectations. The game is no doubt amazing and the translation to the app was seamless. Great job all the way around. If you want to dive into a rich storyline with amazing characters and fights, this game will keep you busy for a long time..Version: 2.1.0

Great reboot but not good enoughI got a “Game Over” on my first battle. The gameplay is flawless but the game itself shouldn’t be that difficult starting out. I understand the game but didn’t like the dying right away part. They don’t give the main character enough to defend himself from enemies. I’d rather prefer to play the original version on PlayStation sometime. The $6.99 they sell this game for didn’t seem worth it for this waste of time..Version: 2.2.0

FavoriteBest game ever made. I wish they would make another one. But not with lame characters like they did in tactics 2. Stick with the medieval fantasy visage. The story is amazing. It’s basically a satire calling out the Catholic Church for the evil organization that it is. I’ve played this game countless times and am about to start a new campaign with my daughter. This is a true gem. A diamond in the rough. Wish I could give it ten stars..Version: 2.0.0

Great game but..The transfer to iOS was well done for the most part. However I would like to request a way to turn off the games music. I fall asleep playing the game at night, and if I have the games volume turned off, it also prevents my alarm clock on the phone from going off. Please please please add the feature. It’s made me late to work twice 😖.Version: 2.1.0

Love the game but buggyI love this game and have played it through multiple times on PS and iPhone. I now have an iPhone X and have been having difficulty with latest update. If I close my phone during a battle (no more quick save) I often lose any progress and have to start again from last save. Also the app sometimes freezes while loading a save game or between cut scenes. I love the game but these aspects are frustrating!.Version: 2.0.0

Love ItThis is like chess mixed with D&D. Forever classic. I don’t understand why more people keep giving bad & Luke warm reviews. It’s worth buying here at the App Store, otherwise buy yourself a PS1 & try to find a decent disc for over 50$. I was about to do this but luckily I checked the App Store. I couldn’t be happier. The graphics and sound are first class on my 2020 IPad..Version: 2.2.0

One of the best stories of any FF game. This is one of the best Final Fantasy games ever made hands down, and is one of the finest turn based strategy RPGs you can get on IOS. Absolutely worth the price. Ps: it’s a crime this never had any multiplayer feature. I’m not even a multiplayer guy, but I imagine a lot could be done with this game as far as online components..Version: 2.2.0

Legit. If you liked this game back in the day, do yourself a favor and get it on your phone! The menus can take a little getting used to on a touch screen, but the developers did a great job porting this absolute classic to mobile. Two big thumbs up from an old fan of this gem!.Version: 2.2.0

All time classicOne of the greatest games ever made, pushed the limits of storytelling, turn based combat mechanics, and the ability to 100% customize your entire team from monsters to unique character classes. I’ve put nearly 3000hrs into this game and I still find myself re-playing it every year. Worth every penny..Version: 2.2.0

Age limitThere should really be an age limit on writing a review. Also an IQ test. It seems to me that if the application doesn’t go perfect the first time, and mostly due to user error, the rating is slumped down rather rapidly. This game here is a timeless classic and to bring it to be where ever is just simply amazing. Great job on the port. Much appreciation in your direction..Version: 2.0.0

Change the preview screenshot! Spoiler alert!!You put one of the biggest spoilers in the preview shot. Put a screenshot from earlier in the game or at least not one that reveals the secret insidious nature of an ostensibly innocuous and very significant entity. I’m writing a review of this excellent game solely to say that. So change the screenshot already! It’s my number one game of all time, though, btw..Version: 2.0.0

Great game, why no multiplayer? The port is great, touch controls take some getting used to, I love that the actions have been sped up so that tailwind and steel don’t take forever. Makes no sense why we don’t have Rendezvous or Melee. The software and scenarios are already there, I don’t get why they wouldn’t be added, it’s such a wasted opportunity..Version: 2.2.0

Wonderful gameThis is a wonderful game;not so great port it crashes alot even on 5th gen devices. Speaking of that brings me to one of my only other gripes with the game that its not optimized for 5th gen devices if they fixed those two things along with bringing back online/Rendezvous mode this would be a perfect 5 stars app/port ITS UP TO U square enix.Version: 2.0.0

Update great! But....Playing this game with new textures and normal frame rates is great when you're use to the slow lag of the original. However, it's so fast now you can barely see what the enemy is doing. Which makes it hard to act accordingly :( Too bad there's no battle speed option. Really takes away from everything when you can't enjoy spell/summon animations because you blinked. Also, update 2.0.0? Does it just remove that update message? That's all?!?.Version: 2.0.0

Tactics Ogre!!Bought this to scratch my SRPG itch. Much better than the PsP remake version but still nothing compared to Tactics Ogre... Please Square, port PsP Tactics Ogre: Let us cling together on mobile!! Let us enjoy the classic once again.Version: 2.1.0

Great FeelingFelt great beating this game after so many years. I wish more of my old childhood favourites would be downloadable on a mobile device. Also I saw one negative about not being able to transfer saves and that’s just not true, on iPhone you just save it in the cloud, allowing you to play on any device, and if you’re still having trouble I’m sure it’s something a quick google search can help you with..Version: 2.1.0

No controller support :(The lack of controller support really hurts the playability of this game. Many of us don’t like to use touch when playing on such a small screen. We want to see the entire game without blocking parts of it with our hands or fingers. Please add controller support!.Version: 2.2.0

Great gamePurchased this about a year ago and beat the main story, maxed out a couple characters. Downloaded it again in hope to play my iCloud saved file but was unable to and don’t wanna start a new game again. 5/5 game just would like the iCloud function to properly work.Version: 2.1.0

ClassicNo file sharing , no cloud support Bug I have ; I’m in main menu and options button goes too a black screen . Everything else works though . Save often ..Version: 2.2.0

Awesomenesss!!!!!One of the greatest games ever made, great port. Square should make a tactics two and continue the storyline. FFT is the original Game of Thrones there’s such a complex web of scheming and betrayals but Noble Ramza never strays from his path. Functionality 10/10 never crashes on iPhone XS Max. Gameplay 9/10 other than a few subtle changes that only hardcore players would have a issue with for example no Genji Gear, it’s amazing. Best 20$ I’ve ever spent.Version: 2.1.0

Would love to play this on backbone 1Controller support would be awesome.Version: 2.3.0

Good game but warning!I love this game probably my favourite FF game in the franchise but I definitely DO NOT suggest buying it for mobile, I bought it and started grinding got my character to lvl 80 and finally unlocked Dark Knight (the hardest job to get in the game) and every fight I started after that crashed the game, put in 40+ hours and now the game is 100% unplayable unless I restart all over, once again great game but the mobile port is complete garbage, better off buying the original or psp version.Version: 2.3.0

Controller supportThe game deserves a 5/5 but please, for the sake of all things good, add controller support so we don’t have to keep using these god awful touch screens.Version: 2.3.0

One of the best FF games for mobileAmazing game that every FF or RPG fan should play. But this port is sadly incompatible with newer versions of iOS. Noticed after updating to iOS 16, that opening the game has become insanely slow, and you cannot access the settings menu (black screen). Not getting to the settings takes away from accessing the iCloud save setting, which stops me from playing on both iPhone and iPad. Great game that needs some loving but sadly the last update was 2 years ago, highly unlikely another update is coming..Version: 2.2.0

Controller support pleaseNeeds controller support.Version: 2.2.0

Would like M1 Mac version!I’ve loved this game since the original PlayStation days! Please make this version work for the M1 Macs!.Version: 2.2.0

Can we get controller support plzSeems like an easy win.Version: 2.2.0

Should be 5Please update for controller support.Version: 2.2.0

Great Game!!One of the best FF titles hands down. My only complaint is the controls can get a bit tricky and it would be great to have controller support available..Version: 2.2.0

Controller supportPlease please please add controller support.Version: 2.2.0

Controller Support?I genuinely enjoyed the game and the updates so far, but for some strange reason after all this time there is still no MFI controller support. The only thing holding this game back is that update..Version: 2.2.0

Controller supportRequest controller support.Version: 2.2.0

Not the game I knewWhen I found out that the game I loved playing on PS1 was available as a mobile game I was ecstatic. And not some cheap remake either it was the ORIGINAL VERSION. Well come to find out it’s not. The gameplay is super sped up for some reason, to the point you can’t even tell what’s happening. The dialogue & attack names have all been changed when they didn’t need to be, you can barely understand what anyone’s saying because SE decided for some stupid reason that everyone should sound like old english dorks & make simple attacks confusing to first time players. It gets some points for having actual movie scenes, as it does add a bit to it & I always wondered how the characters would sound, but it’s a lot harder to maneuver characters on a phone than console. It’s still a great game, but this version leaves A LOT to be desired..Version: 2.2.0

Please add controller support!Great game but a controller support is really needed to fully enjoy this masterpiece..Version: 2.2.0

PLZ GIVE CONTROLLER SUPPORT!!!!I know you can give us controller support! PLZ!!!!.Version: 2.2.0

Solid remakeSolid remake of a classic. Sometimes the selection of spots your character goes to or attacks is a bit clunky but generally very solid remake for iPhone.Version: 2.2.0

Definitive versionEverything about this port is just superb. Obviously ported from the PSP version, this iOS version adds the reverb sound to the music tracks which restore its original PS1 sound. The high resolution aliasing really polishes the graphics especially for higher pixel densities. Touch panel control works great, but can be really tight for smaller iPhones. Hands down, the most definitive version to date. (Now if only Square would port Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.. 🤔).Version: 2.1.0

Needs mfi controller supportPlz add bluetooth controller abilities..Version: 2.2.0

Yah it fixedI couldn’t resize the game on my iPad reinstalled and can play it again. No idea difference between the two versions of the game I’m on iPad and can play it fine.Version: 2.1.0

One of the best games ever madeOne of the best games ever made, id say in the top 100 at least. And this is a fully functional port. Best game on the app store HANDS DOWN..Version: 2.1.0

Thank you!Thank you for updating one of my favourite games! Looks great on my iPhone X’s Max. Please update the other FF & DQ games to X support!.Version: 2.1.0

NEEDS A UPDATE!!!! Still worth 5 starsI have the iPhone 6S and it's not working quite the same way it should be...the screen doesn’t fit my phone! Please fix this as I did pay for this app and I'm also a huge fan of Final fantasy....Version: 2.0.0

GreatI really like this game a lot but for this version on ios there some rare ingame items left out like the genji gear. And as a hardcore player would love to see that in the game. But aside from that 5/5 gameplay I'm just being picky.Version: 2.1.0

HeyLost all my saved data fun game but gotta start over.Version: 2.0.0

Awesome game, awful portGreat game, but it crashes every other start up..Version: 2.0.0

Good Successor, Bad GameThis game is absolutely mental. This game shares the exact same graphics for Tactics Advanced (Game Boy Advance), besides the backgrounds which is nice, even the main character looks quite similar. This time around, there is a much more heavy story while clinging to medieval language, which wasnt really as tryhard in the original (can be difficult to read now, honestly Square Enix’s first mistake), thats about everything good about this game. This game does not follow the original gameplay style as Tactics Advanced, this is entirely focused on the story, which is fine in theory, except anyone who’s played Tactics Advanced knows that this game required running around and grinding to get your characters strong enough to actually do the story, yet in this game, you’re stuck to a linear track so if you aren't flawless in your character builds, you wont be able to progress in this game. Period. (This was SquareEnix’s second mistake) The game doesn't tell you what all the character skills even do; which is fine because neither did the original, however the original was on Game Boy, so im pretty sure in this era, we can afford to have a detailed, in-game skill book, so you’ll need a wiki open 100% of the time, and the friendly AI in game is set to such a nooby level that they wont help nearly as much they could and will likely watch you die while taking the extra party slots that you require all too much to be effective in the early game. I’ve had 20 Game Overs by the 4th Level, and have wasted over 10 hours of my life. Please Note: unsure if the story-linear track ends, haven't been able to make it far enough to find out..Version: 2.0.0
