Everand: Audiobooks & Ebooks App Comments & Reviews

Everand: Audiobooks & Ebooks Positive Reviews

Great selection but faulty appI truly admire the extensive library this app offers, I have no trouble finding just about any book, topic, document I want to read in pdf, audiobook, etc form. There’s even sheet music for crying out loud. While the app makes it easy to upload and read uploaded documents the app fails to make it easy to see notes you have saved. When you try clicking on the note you have written, it never shows it; instead you will literally have to go to the notebook & bookmark tab and scroll down to find the note you marked. I also dislike how the highlighter in this app only comes in blue and sometimes the app doesn’t recognize the highlighted sections you made on a page until you refresh it or return the page after scrolling around. Its a trivia matter but it took me a long time to get use to the color because I’ve always highlighted in yellow. The blue is hard to read sometimes, so they should give you color options or even a way you can save audio notes. Jumping to pages or returning to pages you left off at on the bottom slider is hard to navigate and basically useless; last but not least they make it impossible to cancel/ pause ur subscription from the phone app. Its the 21st century we need to be better than this. Somehow with all these complaints the desktop version is even worse than the phone app yet I still read a Multitude of things on spirituality and history from scribd weekly. This could be the best literature app for a true researcher/ scholar but there’s few bugs/ customization options that are holding it back..Version: 12.22.2

Almost 5 stars... doesn’t cater to book loversGreat selection of audiobooks from the big publishers. Ebooks have less options but still a good selection for this price point. I switched to scribd from kindle unlimited, and not having to wade through poorly edited self pubbed books is huge! That being said, the reading experience on the kindle app is far superior than within the scribd app. The lack of page turn animation and poor formatting of the book breaks the immersion of reading. I’m an equal opportunity reader, but I would still like for my ebooks to emulate a physical book reading experience. On all other ebook platforms, you can set the font, spacing, alignment, etc. but even after customization the ebook mirrors the page breaks and chapter headings of the physical book. Scribd does not appear to have this functionality, and if you customize those features then the book gets wonky on the display. The user interface is generally not the best. The audiobook interface is nice and has everything I would expect, so it is really just the ebook formatting I have an issue with. If you are a book lover, that switched to ebooks for storage and reduce piles of books around the house, you will likely have the same complaints. I want my ebooks to have the same or similar aesthetic as my physical books, and the lack of effort by scribe towards making the ebooks enjoyable to read and engage with may keep me from having an ongoing subscription. If it doesn’t matter to you, then this app will be perfect for you... for me it is difficult to engage with the content when it looks ugly and poorly formatted on the screen..Version: 11.8

Love it but it needs improvingAmazing selection for a subscription service. Both the ebook and audiobook libraries are so extensive, I love it! But everything else needs work. PLEASE fix your audiobook speeds! In the app it only goes to 2.0 and that just isn’t fast enough. And on the website it jumps from 2x to 3x speed with nothing in between! That’s such a ridiculous jump! I know I’m not the only one to complain about this and people have been for a long time. I don’t understand why it’s not been fixed yet. Please improve your speed options! Also, reading on anything other than an ereader for extended periods is painful. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way too. Please fix it so we can send ebook files to our ereaders! Other apps (Libby) have that option, why not yours? Also, I think it’s a very misleading to say a subscription provides unlimited access to your library when it doesn’t. Stuff is unavailable to me all the time and not because it’s an upcoming release, but because… I don’t know why. I constantly get stuff held back until my next pay cycle. While I appreciate that eventually I’ll have access to it, I don’t like that I’m told I have unlimited access when that’s actually not the case. And the stuff I don’t have access to right away won’t even show up when I search for it on the app. I have to search on the website and even then I have to search by the title specifically, not author or genre, for it to show so I can add it to my saved folder. Why hide stuff? Seems shady..Version: 12.13.1

Way better value than audible, but app is glitchyFor less than the cost of a 1-book-a-month audible subscription, you get three. It’s way better value. My library uses hoopla not Libby, which has a really limited collection. And Libby, when I could use it, only lets you have a book for 2 weeks, often after a months long wait for a popular title. As someone who loves listening to audio books while cleaning and driving and exercising, it’s a great addition and worth the cost. I also love that you can listen to a really substantial sample of a book before committing to redeeming one of your credits on it. There have been a few I sampled but realized were not for me after listening. I wasted a lot of audible credits on books I didn’t really get into. The only drawbacks are that you can’t send ebooks to your kindle, like you can with Libby, and the app can be glitchy. A few times I ran into problems with the app suddenly marking a book I was in the middle of as finished while I was listening to it, and not allowing me to go any further. The customer service was no help. The only solution was to delete and reinstall the app which I figured out on my own. I didn’t lose my place but it was annoying and I hope it doesn’t keep happening..Version: 15.24

DisappointedI wanted to give this a try because it seemed like a better deal. The main book series I wanted to listen to they only had 2 out of 9 so that was the first disappointment. Then 2nd disappointment was partially my fault because I didn’t realize unlocks expired each month. Audible never did that so I was a change I wasn’t happy about. One month I was super busy with school work and didn’t have time to listen as much as I wanted to and I paid for a whole month and didn’t get to use any of my unlocks. So I basically just paid for nothing that month and wasted my money. But if I end my subscription or pause it apparently I loose access to all my paid for books. So I’m not exactly happy with this structure. I’ll be making sure to read all my unlocks and end my subscription after this month. I’m disappointed because I was really hoping this would be a great switch to a new platform that was more affordable and I liked that you can do ebooks too. It was good to try something new. If the unlocks don’t expire and I have the option to pause and unpause subscription and still access my paid unlocks I’ll consider coming back. Also there are some technical and navigational issues that create interrupts in listening and no way to just unlock next book in series. You have research it and search for the book. Makes it time consuming to unlock whole series..Version: 16.4

Fabulous service - even with limitationsScribd truly blows Kindle Unlimited (and even Audible to some extent) out of the water, especially if you read a lot of serious non-fiction. They also have an amazing selection of British mystery audio books btw. I have to admit I have not run into the 'limit' problems some others have reported. I have no idea why, but this may well be because I don't tend to check out bestsellers or really popular titles. However, if you are interested in Art, History, Culture, Language etc., I can pretty much assure you that you have discovered Valhalla with Scribd. To me, it's like a massive digital treasure house set up for easy browsing. I often find obscure monographs here I can access nowhere else online for any price. Also rather than waiting weeks to checkout a title via our local library via Overdrive, I usually have instant access through Scribd. That said, I do still have occasional problems with the search function finding a particular title even though it turns up being included after all. Our excellent local library system makes a valiant effort to have many e-books available, but only has a tiny fraction of what I can access via Scribd. Anyway, 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s - a great value and I am a very satisfied subscriber..Version: 9.1.1

Fine service, but not unlimitedScribd is basically the farthest thing from unlimited books. I understand the cost factors in place, but then don’t market it as unlimited. If they would have instituted a credit system (like audible) there would be no complaint here, as it remains a much better value than audible (though a much smaller selection, especially in the fantasy department). Instead, scribd cut me of from the remainder of a series after finishing 2 books! I hadn’t read any other books on scribd and was blissfully assuming I’d fallen into audio paradise when all the other titles were locked out as unavailable. At first I cursed my luck, as scribd gave me no reason for their departure and gave them the benefit of the doubt and searched for another series to read. The funny thing was, many of the series I’d seen earlier vanished! Their content library of similar books was cut in half! It was then that I noticed the date for the “return” of these books that are “unfortunately unavailable now” but “will be soon” was the day of my next payment. All of them. Hmmm. I then went into scribd’s website and looked for why the books were locked away. They helpfully explained that they don’t in-fact like it when, say, their clientele uses this novel feature of unlimited books and would limit your access if you used too much. I’m not mad, I understand they would run a deficit if it was actually unlimited. But it’s not unlimited any way you slice it. Scribd is like a all you can eat buffet where you go for thirds and they tell you you can only have cereal because the chicken your eating is too expensive. You still get more plates than a regular restaurant, but it’s no where near unlimited..Version: 9.11.2

A little messy. This app is awesome. I enjoy the 3 unlocks per month. Theres a wide variety of books where you can read or listen. Three star: However, I feel as though the app could use a little bit of re-vamping to make it a little more user friendly. There isn’t an area in the app where you can go to find your currently read books and your unlocked books. It’s all compiled into a list with your saved/wishlist books and even that list is hard to find within the app. I think a category system would work because my currently reading, and my unlocked but not reading and my wishlist should be readily available and categorized on my profile. I reported it as an issue because i couldnt find the book that I had unlocked and wanted to start reading, when i was in the “report an issue” chat, it told me to go to profile and click on how many unlocks i had left. This led me to a browser and took me put of the app, and i just wanted to read my book! Then there was no way to get out of the chat unless i closed the app and opened it back up. And the last issue I have is when i finish a book completely it still says i have a page left. This has happened with audiobooks and scrolling books. I think if these issues/bugs were addressed it could definitely be a 5 star app..Version: 15.11.1

Overall a positive appI use EverAnd to supplement my library app. Previous used Scribd. There are lots of books available and gives audible and kindle unlimited a run for their money. However just assume that everything you want to read is locked. I find that is not very clear if they are or are not included. (Especially if it’s the one book from a series that your library doesn’t have.) it shows up “unlocked” if you’ve used a credit for it, “unlimited” if it’s included, but just tells you the format if it’s not unlocked or included in your membership unless you click through to the page on that specific book/audiobook. You can start any book/audiobook for a decent preview though- which is helpful if there are multiple narrator options for an audio book. What this doesn’t offer that you do have with audible is access to any book you’ve purchased with a credit, without having to maintain a membership. It’s a good way to maintain a steady income stream though. I’m not knocking it. So far I’m pretty happy with it, my biggest complaint is from the home page not clearly seeing if something has to be unlocked to read it..Version: 14.19

I love this imperfect appI’ve used (and am still using) all kinds of apps to listen to audiobooks. They all have their pros and cons. Audible is slick but expensive. Kindle (which can be connected with your audible account) is awesome with its function allowing you to close your kindle book, and then pull up the audio version and have your place saved from where you are reading. Librivox is awesome because its free, but the recordings aren’t professional and it only has public domain books. Chirp is great because it’s so cheap and doesn't require a subscription. Library apps are good, but the selection of available books can be limiting. Scribd is my favorite though. I feel like scribd gives me the most bang for my buck. With scribbed you’re only rending your books (with Chirp and Audible you own) but I only use it for audiobooks and I don’t care to own them (unlike paper books, which I need to own for some reason). The selection is impressive and seems to be always improving as well. But I do have a couple complaints: 1) the app can be buggy. Sometimes it will start repeatedly crashing and I’ll have to delete and reload it. I was listening to a book a while ago and chunks of it were simply missing. 2) Scribd does a terrible job of explaining their system for making books available. You can only listen to so many of their top tier books before you get cut off and have to pick through second tier books. I would love to know which books are in that top tier, how many I can listen to before being cut off, etc. but they don’t seem to explain it anywhere. But again, best bang for your buck if you’re into audiobooks. I’ve also read a few ebooks on the app, and it’s fine (and each book doesn’t require an extra charge) but the experience is not nearly as good as kindle..Version: 10.14

Scribd will throttle your usageScribd is great sometimes, some months there will be so many great books that it’s hard to pick what to read or listen to first. However, you should know that some months it’s also going to be almost useless. You know how with cell phone plans they will tell you that you have unlimited data, but then they massively slow down the speeds after you get to a certain amount of gigs used? Scribd is like this with its catalog. This month the main options I have available to me are old books with expired copyright, random unknowns, and Scribd originals. I have the ability to see that some books I want to listen to are on Scribd, but they are not available to me until the first of next month. I just paid this month’s bill cycle but now I’m going to get pretty much no usage out of it because I don’t have the option to read any of the more popular selections. Sometimes it’s worth the $10 per month and more so it’s not really enough to get me to cancel my subscription but it sure is frustrating, especially since I just paid for this month and I know that I won’t be able to get much use out of it despite having paid. If Scribd were more transparent about this then it might be less frustrating..Version: 12.13.1

By far the best! This is my absolute favorite book app, they may not have all the books all the time but it’s worth the subscription price because you get unlimited books! Like I said the best app for audio books and ebooks unless they don’t have the book your looking for but still have a wonderful variety of books :) there isn’t a lot of popular books all the time but why not give lesser known authors a chance, I for one have listened to quite a few audiobooks on the app that turned out to be absolutely wonderful and even some of them I’ve listened to multiple times because I liked them so much, I have yet to have a problem with this app besides a few glitches here and there and I’ve had this app for about 2ish years maybe 3. Most of the time I can fix the glitches by restarting the app, I’ve been Everand since it was Scibd, by far my favorite audio book app ever❤️ highly recommended. developer: thank you for this app, I do wish there were certain other books in here but I still love this app so much, it helped me get through boring slow days at work and hard times with my ex, thank you <3.Version: 15.6.2

Great Concept, Just Slightly Less Than Stellar ExecutionScribd has to be hands down one of my top 10 favorite apps. The subscription model to me seems too good to be true, especially when compared to alternatives. It's true that some titles are not available or are unavailable for a month or so at a time. However, I would say that I've been able to access about 90% of the titles that I'm interested in (mostly nonfiction). As for the unlimited feature, I've not had the same issue as other users in running into some kind of limit (I averaged a book a week last year). I've been a user since 2019 and since I've not really had crazy substantial issues. Most of the problems that I've ran into have been minor to moderate technical glitches (audiobooks restarting randomly, app not properly synching across devices, having to refresh the app occasionally) but nothing that would make me consider deleting the app. All in all, if you're on the fence I would highly recommend at least trying it the a few months and contrasting the experience (and the cost) to other alternatives. I hope this review is helpful!.Version: 12.10

Wanting more clearity about what content is available after saving tittlesIt seems like a good app, but it’s important to know the limits on how many books you can have. I wish the app developers would build in a stratified system in which you can read or listen to a certain number of books before the second “unlimited” level becomes the only one available. I acknowledge it is probably difficult dealing with publishers, or even perhaps having publishers as a second “costumer.” Im assuming these relationships simply require too much complexity for the average user to understand. On the other hand, I’m wondering if there is a secondary gain to being less than up front about the service. To be fair, the first month is free, and they started pulling titles three weeks before the end of my trail month. I bet statistically fewer users back out once they have signed up though. Foot in the door technique is an old advertising game. I think most literary users can smell it and feel an animosity towards scribd even if that isn’t the developers intent. Who wants to feel anxiety about making the right choice on a book before the various content cut offs engage. Please read other review to learn more about the positives. Besides this complaint, I’ve been enjoying the app..Version: 10.19

I’ve Always Been a Fan of ScribdI loved the original Scribd, and yes it split into two separate companies, Scribd and Everand, very recently, which I’m sure was for a very good reason, at least enough for the company to make such a big decision. It seems that a lot of people are so far unhappy with the big change, but please read on. I hope my experience will inspire you to give the company a chance at least until it gets back on its feet. One MAJOR IMPROVEMENT I see on Everand (where the audiobooks and ebooks are now) is that I no longer seem to be dealing with errors when it comes to trying to listen to certain audiobooks that used to give me the persistent errors claiming that I’ve exceeded the number of devices I’ve been listening to the audiobook on. I would go through all the troubleshooting (i.e. check for the said devices on my account only to find nothing, delete and redownload the app, update the app, sign out and sign back into the app, contact support) all to no avail. It seemed that the problem WAS bigger as even the troubleshooting steps provided by Scribd’s GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE team didn’t work. For this, I’M THANKFUL ‘cause NOW, I can finally listen to my audiobooks without the dreading feeling of, “Is it gonna play this time? Or am I gonna have to troubleshoot again for the next 20+mins?” I’m guessing that this issue (as I wasn’t an isolated case here upon me looking into the issue) may be one of the key points in the decision-making process. As for now, since they’ve barely started with the 2 apps, I am genuinely excited and will look forward to more updates in the near future. Scribd has been my favorite audiobook/ebook service (in many ways I prefer it over Kindle/Audible) and I’ve been a customer for a couple of years so I’ve seen and experienced the changes and growth. I would like to see more of what they have in store for us..Version: 13.17

Service is great butThe app itself is a technical nightmare. My two most common issues are that the audio will just stop playing entirely and I have to restart the app in order to get the audio working again. Sometimes I have to close it multiple times and after 3 or 4 times will usually just give up and keep the app closed for a while because the audio just won’t come back. This is a problem whether the book is being streamed or is downloaded, and it’s not a problem with being connected to Bluetooth, as disconnecting doesn’t fix it. The audio is still there. You can rewind and listen to other parts or skip ahead and listen ahead but randomly there will just be a chunk missing that will only come back after restarting the app. The second biggest issue I’ve run into is that I will pause my book, the app will freeze when I go to start it again, and sometimes it will just start my audiobook from the beginning and have no bookmark or anything of where I was. Overall, I really like the service itself and have been a customer for over a year, but the app is always a point of frustration and I wish they would just figure these bugs out for good..Version: 13.3

Scam! Do NOT use.I signed up for the 30 day trail to listen to an audio book. I put in my credit card information. Standard stuff. Well, I forgot to cancel within 30 days and got charged a monthly fee. That’s my fault. Here’s where the issues arise. I log on to the website to cancel my membership and neither email that I have was recognized when I tried to log on. No sweat, I clicked forgot pasword to retrieve my password. NEVER received a recovery email. So, I submit a request to see if someone from customer support can assist. After submitting the request, I get a response 8 hours later from TESH, stating that he is unable to locate the account with the email provided. How am I being charged each month if I don’t have an account. He then asks for the last for of my credit card that I used to set up the account to assist him in locating the account. Never hear back from him. That was 2 months ago. I am still being charged monthly and I have no way of canceling the membership because I don’t have an “account”. I’ve submitted multiple help tickets since and I have never received a response back..Version: 9.11.1

So far great besides one problemWhen I am listening to an audio book it will sometimes just completely stop this has happened so far 8 times in 3 hrs. Very inconvenient as I do not have time at work to continue pulling out my phone.Version: 10.14

Netflix for booksWhy don't more people know about this app?? It's a must for any book lover, and such a bargain-priced subscription. Their customer service reps are always so quick to answer and very friendly!.Version: 8.1.2

Change isn’t always goodIt is true they have improved the player it doesn’t freeze anymore but for the increased cost you now have to unlock books, you only now get 3 a month and if you cancel you don’t have access to them anymore unless you resubscribe, also your unlocks don’t carry over it says, I never ran into this because I easily use 3 unlocks and what I liked about this app before was its cost and you could listen to how many ever you wanted, cost has went way up since I subscribed and now you are limited. I canceled by subscription..Version: 15.24
