I’ve used this app and the no-ads one for the past few years every single day and the negative reviews just aren’t true. The app doesn’t freeze- it has unlimited bookmarks and downloads, all the LibriVox books- 15,000 of them are FREE, and it’s fantastic! I don’t know if the people writing the reviews just don’t know how to use an app or what, but it’s not the app’s fault. I wonder if they have actually communicated with support or just literally came right on here and wrote a negative review. This all means everything to me. I can’t imagine my life without it. Please don’t let the negative reviews discourage you. Try it for yourself.

In the familiar fashion of the Great Charle Dickens, he delivers yet another magnificent story full of compassion and tender feelings. This was my second time listening over the past two years. It shall be mentioned that Mil Nicholson is one of the top three narrators and maybe the best for her immense talent at producing multiple voices is simply uncanny (maybe her rivals are Mark Simpson from South Carolina who did The Great Expectations and the man in the Iron Mask + the gentleman who narrated “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”). She made a great sweet story that much greater. In my opinion this is not the best Charles Dickens Story, but the combination of the story and the rendition makes it a 5 star in my book.

My eyesight is so I can no longer read books in print And I can find interesting quality books on this app that are very pleasing Depending on which genre that I am in the mood for listening I can find so many different books to choose...and without the cost Love that the books are free and so easy to listen, plus download if I want to keep them in my library to listen when I don't have internet access!

This app has already supplied me with several free books that I have listened to. I went straight to the section that was for free books and jumped right in. The downloads come faster than from Audible. I have liked the readers. The only problem is that it is difficult to find some books directly through a search. It can take a while to get to the book or author you are interested in. On the other hand, you scroll by things you might not have thought to look for and discover pleasant surprises. This is good for me as otherwise I can get in a rut.

Every detail of the listening experience is covered to perfection. If I were a developer, I don’t think there’s a thing I would change! Best app for listening for any reason you feel the need to shut out the noise of the world while traveling, working around the house, etc. And the biggest bonus: it’s free unless of course you gravitate to the premium book list! Love this app!

Whether it’s user error or not my credit card is already on file for a suppose it free trial I have already made a 5.99 purchase and can’t find the purchase or cannot make the selection for the two free books supposedly offered. Who can tell me how to discontinue this and remove my information including my credit card

Of the hundreds of apps on my phone, this is the one I use most often. This wasn’t always the case but I find myself in a better mental disposition now that I’ve mostly eliminated social media and MSM, returning to music and venturing into the audiobook realm. There are lots of free selections along with the library of books to purchase.

I love this little app which offers many variety of audible stories. It takes me back in time when television was not very popular The dramatization are so perfectly arranged its just like sitting in a movie theater and watching the movie only it's more exciting because your imagination is running much wilder. I highly recommend this app.

There are many classic titles, and even some more contemporary works, but lots of free audiobooks! Several titles have multiple versions, so make sure to listen to the previews to find the reading styles that best suit your fancy. This is a great resource for those who like audiobooks, or wish to listen along while reading.

I love the app there is just not a lot to read and I’m a pre teen so the things I mostly listen to are like the horror stuff because I’ve used the app before and the story I choose was kinda boring I read this other review and this pre teen also said they wish there were more options for younger groups and I agree

I love this app! I'm lucky enough to have a job that lets me wear headphones and this is an essential app for me to pass the time. The podiobooks as they are called offer a larger selection than just old, out of copyright books. This app hasn't glitched on me yet and I'm really happy with its performance. Thanks Audiobooks 👍

Search features are great, downloads work well, it's easy to navigate and it makes keeping and listening to audiobooks easy. But for some reason this app just eats through battery, I've checked all my settings, and closed all other apps but my phone ends up hot and only gains charge/cools off if I close the app. Plz fix!!

The app is great and provides me with hours of free audiobooks (some good, some not so much) My main problem is the button(+) to add more books sits right on top of the last book you have. So in order to listen to that book you either have to mess with the 3 sorting options of delete enough books to get it raise up above the (+) button.

This app has a lot to offer, love the old time radio, very nostalgic and makes you think. You do not see (or should I say “hear” ) radio shows like the ones they have on here anymore. But the other books are very good too especially when on a long drive.

I had never read "David Copperfield" by Charles Dickens so I decided to listen to the audiobook. The voice of the narrator is perfect and I have enjoyed the voices he has given to all of the characters. David's innocence and kind heart have reminded me of the goodness which lies in humanity and that goodness can triumph over evil. Thank you for this special audiobook.

I got a little anxious in the middle... wanting the story to move along. However the reader helped keep my attention until things picked up again. Overall this was a very good listening experience.

The book I listen to Bill Nye and wet wasn’t exactly what I thought it was going to Bay. But it was it was good enough. It was kind of odd having each chapter of being read by a different person. You can definitely figure out which Arthur’s you like and which Arthur’s or not your favorite.

I've been listening to books that I hadn't gotten around to reading in the past. The free books I've found tend to be classics. So far, the sound quality is very good. This app is easy to use! Pursuing through the paid books, I'd probably wait for an audible deal or something. Seems a bit pricey.

I really loved this app because it had a lot of free books and that was really nice it also lets you listen to download books without WiFi, but they also didn’t have a lot of the books I was looking for like the Warriors books but other than that it was super great😃👍

This book made me realize offically that anything is possible, instead of sitting around thinking about what could have been. You will see what i mean when you read it !!

I haven't become totally fluent with this app but have had a great experience with it. I've discovered new books and narrators that keep me fully engaged. I highly recommend this app.

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to several classic books. It is especially a great way to pass the time in the car.

Recently acquired this app. I'm going on a long plane trip so I've downloaded books to listen since I can't sleep on airplanes. I've tested it and think it will be a lifesaver. I'll report on my return.

Great app! I have used it for about a year with no problems until yesterday. It has stopped downloading and playing. Hopefully the issue is resolved quickly.

There is a large variety of audio books from older to current films recently released! I am impressed!

Even though this story was set 100 years or more ago how people react to one another and help one another is just as true today. Too young smart girls out with the bad men in their lives.

I stumbled upon this application in search for free material to listen to, and was surprised to find more than a handful of classic works all made into quality audio books!

This does remind me of my childhood and long trips where we were all quiet listening to the car radio. If I could find “Let’s Pretend” and Buster Brown, it would be wonderful. Or how about the Firestone Hour? Wow!

The book Art Of War is a classic example of literary genius. This audio book brings nostalgic timeless knowledge to today’s technology in a way that’s easy for this generation to connect with.

I love the Audiobooks Podcasts. The books are all entertaining and the performances by the authors and voice performers are top notch. I highly recommend this app.

I enjoyed this rather unrealistic adventure, and kind of wished that the boy and a girl, and her father, could stay on the island and make a life for themselves. I enjoyed the vocabulary and the different readers made it interesting. It made me want to go to a tropical island and build my own hideaway.

So many great choices from audiobooks to all the great works to current releases I love this site!!!

This is a great app. There are so many books and old radio shows that you will never get through them all.

Very clear voices, interesting selection of books, and very easy interface makes this app the best audiobook app I've downloaded. Hands down, 5 stars.

I am frequently in the vehicle driving for several hours. It's nice to be able to listen to an audiobook instead of the radio. This is making driving much better.

I really enjoy the books and appreciate the free offerings. Excellent quality. Can not give 5 stars because of the constant and annoying pop-up requests to upgrade to premium.

As an artist, my hands and visuals are usually preoccupied. This allows me to go beyond just listening to the same music and pandora stations!

It was a little different than I thought it would be, but I found it to be amusing and an overall fun book to listen to.

I can’t argue with free! i won’t ever be short of listening material now as I knit, sew, hook rugs or drive!

Just love listening to these while driving, time passes more easily.

What a pleasure it is to relax, with eyes closed, just listening to the many choices of hundreds of well written short audio story's. When ever I want to escape my restless mind I use Free Audiobooks . All stories are performed by great voices and many famous actors. They quickly take my mind off of thinking about my own sorted thoughts, which I've learned to completely leave behind by listening to old time radio programs. Often , they are short and sweet . Most often they are a captivating escape. I like the language , it’s clean and clearly a relaxing tool. The stories are most often intelligently crafted but I’m sorry to say I often relax to the point of peacefully going into dream land. I just started using this app a few days ago and am happy with it. I love how many books I have at my finger tips.

This thing has everything! All the old shows from waaaaay back! Books too!

As much as I’d love to try Blinkist, they don’t have a monthly free trial and here I can download and listen for free! Great variety and easy to use. No account required.

Love them. I am a senior and it takes a lot of strain off of my eyes, helps me get my work done, and puts me to sleep.

I love the access to all thousands of great classic books in the public domain. All free. Jack London, Zane Grey, Charlotte Bronte, Dickens, HG Wells, Jane Austen....and old time radio shows. Some of the readers are not great but most are excellent. And again All FREE!!! Listen to these on long commutes Of course there are newer books for sale as well, but there is no aggressive promoting of these.... Oh and old time radio shows are also Free for those who are nostalgic....

Good fantasy book

I was very excited when I downloaded this app, because everywhere I looked it said “free” audiobooks. That is most certainly not the case. Every audiobook that I was interested in was either “unavailable” OR they tried to CHARGE me $17 for! That is not “free”. They make it sound as if the vast majority of the audiobooks that they have available are free but they are definitely not. There is no way that I’m keeping this app and I would recommend that you don’t even bother with it either. I’ve had it with all these audiobook apps pretending that they are free and then the only free audiobooks they have available are duds that I’ve never even heard of. I’ll stick with Hoopla and Overdrive, thank you. If I could rate this lower than one star, I would.

So, I think this would be a good app if the books didn’t look/sound so... “old”? I mean, they’re not old, but to me they are. I’m a pre-teen and I was wondering if u could put more books people my age would read. Like, books you would find in a middle school library. Like wrinkle in time, or wonder. Not all of us are adults, you know. THINK OF THE CHILDREN! (lol) thx! I’ve been looking for audiobook app that didn’t require a library card or money, and I finally found one. This app! I downloaded this, but all the books were “old”! Rrrr! Plz plzplzplzplzplzplzplzplzplzzzzz give us books people around my age would read!

I can’t believe I paid $20 for an audiobook that downloaded all as one track instead of in chapters (which, via my library’s app, this same audiobook IS in chapter segments) AND it doesn’t auto save my spot. Because, who doesn’t love trying to find your place in a 12 hour track by random scrolling or bumping forward in thirty seconds segments? I like that you can purchase a single audiobook without a subscription. That’s the only good thing I can find about this app. Even the search tool to find the book I wanted sucked. I should have heeded that red flag.

I’ve noticed lately that audio book apps will say they’re fee when in fact they are not. There may be a few, possibly twenty at the most of really old books (not even classics) for free. And the rest of the app is simply trying to get you to buy and or pay for the books you’re actually looking for. This is one of those apps. I come back to this app once or twice a year and each time I regret it. The app is slow, it takes a while to load and it glitches, (thanks to it being a free app you also will get ads). Ugh, but this app doesn’t even have a free section! It’s free radio or books being read live. And any book you’re actually looking for to listen to you have to pay for (or truthfully any book on this god forsaken app) I HIGHLY do not recommend this app, it’s a lie. Don’t waste your money on getting the premium one either.

While this has a very wide selection of books and great recordings, when you close the app it usually doesn’t remember your place, which is frustrating when listening to a very long book over a period of time. Also, the app takes a long time to start up, and sometimes when you hit play, nothing happens. Lastly, occasionally when trying to find your place in the boon, the recording will just reset.

Would have liked an actual step-by-step practical guide rather than just a bunch of individual stories, many of which I could not relate to, followed by takeaways. It’s like a series of Ted Talks on the topic with each person recounting their experience. Every person is different so listening to their stories was interesting and inspiring but not much helpful for me with the nuts and bolts of my own plan. And some of them I found rather preachy and obnoxious. Found myself rolling my eyes at a few points.

I paid $2 for the premium version.. still wasn't able to listen to the 'paid' books. Paying for it only removed the ads. Please be more clear about what happens when you buy the app. Also, I have the latest version and my battery got extremely hot! Use my $2 and fix it. I'll be offloading this app until further notice. Thanks.

All the good books you have to pay for AND there aren't really that many interesting or recently published books. Sometimes the speaker goes too fast or too slow. This was kind of a waste if time...😫 wish it would have more books that were recently published or free

So far I've bought 2 books, and after having to reload the first book 3 times finally got to finish it. The second one keeps dropping out of the library, so have to stop what I'm doing, reload it and re find where I was! Frustrating

It's pretty good but I wish it wouldn't push an upgrade every time I opened it Also, the search sometimes doesn't show the right pages. Like the app is confused on what page it's supposed to be on

Drains my battery rapidly. Even with notifications and all the options off. When I run this app locked screen also.... I can expect having to charge my dead battery on my phone within 40min from a full battery. Only app that does this. Hope an update will fix this otherwise I’d give this a 5 star

No matter what I tried typing to search for a book, any book nothing that I did found anything it just kept returning me to the search page

Got the app today, and the first 5 Free Books where either not free or unavailable. I then tried the old show from the 50’s Texas Rangers etc, tested a few and the sound quality was excellent. Tried playing one once I turned off internet and it still played, so I’m loading up on a bunch to listen to on a 23 hour drive (find radio stations fade in & out). So overall some good content but may have to search for it.

Used to be a great app but was updated a few months ago and stopped downloading. Latest update worked for one book and then stopped downloading again. Says it’s downloading but nothing ever happens.

I can’t download any books. It just says “your book is downloading” but I left it like that for an hour and there’s no way to start it

What an awful App! Wasted so much time trying to figure it out and find a book I wanted to listen to!! No support either. I’ll be deleting it now!

Most of these books were free when i had the app the first time, i don’t understand why a free book went from being free to 20$ in less than a year

The app sticks at a certain point and doesn’t allow you to start from where you finished last. Doesn’t matter whether you’ve listened to 3 hours it freezes at 0 or 1:12.39 seconds for example. So you only get to hear from beginning or 1:12.39. If you fast forward to where you were it goes back to zero. Upsetting.

Impossible d’écouter les livres audio sur iPhone. Au lieu de jouer le livre c’est de la musique aléatoire de mon iTunes que j’entends. C’est franchement exaspérant. Je vais mettre fin à mon abonnement, car qui resterait assis à son ordinateur pour écouter un livre audio? Le but c’est de bouger!

The title of the app states “free” and yet the app is mostly designed to sell paid audiobooks. Was not able to look around long enough to find non-paid content. Highly misleading, a waste of time.
