Best mobile game I’ve ever playedI’ve been playing since September of last year which was a year ago and I’m so close to HR 150 I have 3 grade nines 2 of which are one upgrade away from grade 10 which I already have one of so I’m doing pretty good. But unlike most players I actually started playing Monster Hunter games with this one this game is really fun I play it with my dad every day and it’s a great way to bond with him. A few more things I have nine star enemies now but sadly I have trouble soloing them so my dad and brother help I’m the best out of them but I stared before them and I carried my dad until he got to grade fours then he could do his own but my brother got to be carried by me and my dad and my and him already had grade 8s so he got to grade 5s instantly but I’m the only one with 9 stars so I basically am the best. Lastly I love each update and appreciate each one and I’m fine with the dimensional links being in my circle but I got a lot more sixes but that wasn’t as fun because I love grinding in this game and first aid meds aren’t a problem if I die I wait to heal. If you are still reading this just know that no matter how much hate this game may get I will always love you guys for making so much memories for me I will always support your work and will always be positive about everything you do for it. PS: I now play Rise and 4 ultimate and I think that you guys should add switch axe as the next weapon thank you goodbye have a great life. :).Version: 84.0

Amazing Game, One Issue.I love this game. I’ve always loved games like Pokémon GO, they’re just fun to me. However, unlike Pokémon GO, this game doesn’t just warn you about playing while driving, it entirely restricts your gameplay if you’re moving too fast. The idea is to stop people from playing and driving, but in reality, this only hurts passengers. Even if you hit the “I am not a driver” prompt, your gameplay remains restricted. Drivers can just be jerks on the road, holding at a light longer than they should just to continue playing. But passengers have no control over whether or not they can play the game at all. Please, for the sake of everyone who plays this awesome game, change this. I’d rather the speed warning appear every 5 seconds and annoy me repeatedly than not be able to play at all, especially because, also unlike Pokémon GO, when you sit still, there’s no way for you to do anything, you have to just wait until a monster spawns on you. In Pokémon GO, there’s incense. In JW Alive, there’s scents. In MH Now, there’s nothing, no way of attracting monsters to you more often. I rarely walk anywhere because I don’t have the freedom and time to walk, so I’m always either unable to play because I’m sitting still and there’s nothing to do, or unable to play because I’m moving too fast even though I’m just a passenger 95% of the time..Version: 89.1

Great but not without its flawsI’ve been a fan of the series since Tri. I was skeptical when I heard there was going to be a mobile game by the people who made PoGo, PB and Ingress. While I play a lot of PoGo, the combat in the game is some of the worst I’ve ever played. Since MH is even more combat basedI was nervous. Needless to say, I was surprised at how intuitive the combat was for a game you play with one finger. The game has a lot of potential. The issues I have with the game are: neither of my main 3 weapons are in the game. The difficulty spike happens suddenly, you’d think gathering points would be 1 to 1 with pokestops, but they aren’t and it takes forever to gather what you need. If you live in rural areas, don’t even try this game, you’ll drop it after a week cuz you’ll have an inventory full of monster parts but no plants, ore or bones. They try to remedy this with random scattered materials but it’s not enough and chances are you won’t get what you need. They almost definitely put less processing power to this game. It thinks I'm in a car when even my avatar is standing still. Items are hella expensive and there’s not much of a selection. They could absolutely add more and they could also have added other materials to collect so you can craft your own items like potions instead of buying them or just hoping you get them from rank ups. But I digress. I’m giving it 4 stars because, again, it has potential to even surpass PoGo in gameplay. But it has a lot to fix.Version: 63.0

Love the game but there’s work to be doneI’ve been playing monster Hunter since 3U. It’s my favorite game franchise and when this was announced I was so stoked! The game is a lot of fun; being simplified for mobile, but still keeps plenty of mechanics in tact despite that. It looks really good, it plays smooth (only ever having minor lag hiccups), and hunting with friends is awesome. There’s also isn’t a lot of monetization which is nice to see for a Niantic game. But after the first two days a few cracks peeked through. For one, spawns are slow and your search range is pretty small. With the way it is now there’s a pretty decent chance you’ll just have to miss out on some hunts due to them being on property you can’t access. Second, the health is really slow to regain. In the later quests, where things hit like a truck, you really begin to feel how slow the regen is, and the lack of healing items other than your daily potions. Last, the speed lock. I understand they don’t want people driving and playing, but why have a confirmation notice about “being the passenger” if it’s going to lock the game completely? I feel like this should be adjusted in some capacity. Other than those it’s been an awesome game with so much promise for the future! Happy hunting!.Version: 60.3

True to source material and very fun… howeverThis game is very fun, and you can clearly tell a lot of love was put in as a lot of the same move-sets and animations of both the weapons and monsters are present. I have enjoyed my time with the game (for the most part), but there is room for improvement. For instance, right around HR 30+, this is when the games artificial grind becomes very apparent. You start to become gated from completing main story mission hunts, for instance, the drop rates of a lot of the higher rarity materials are so bad, you will be spending A LOT of time just trying to kill a specific monster to get a material that isn’t super rare, but just seems to drop way less than those of 2 rarities higher than it. This causes you to have to wait to build/level the necessary weapons to even be able to do enough damage to kill the main story monster to just even progress, regardless of if you even get hit at all since you’re timed and will run out of time before doing enough damage. This issue is a lot worse too when you figure out that they have a premium currency in the game that allows you to double those parts you “just can’t ever seem to get enough of”, which sort of relates to gacha in a sense. The only other issue I have is some of the hit boxes on monsters can be extremely dumb as you’ll be on the side of a monster attacking it while it’s doing a frontal attack that shouldn’t hit you, and somehow does. Regardless of these issues, the game is still extremely fun to play (hence the 4*s) and it will be interesting to see how it progresses from here on.Version: 61.1

Great Callback to Mainline SeriesMH:Now is an awesome interpretation of the mainline games, cutting a few corners to make it work as a mobile game. The inclusion of multiple weapons is a must, but Niantic should’ve included all 14 weapons from the start, or at least at HR15 like they did. Only having 6 to choose from is a bit of a disappointment. The weapons we do get include many of the mechanics that the regular series does, requiring directional swipes of your thumb to execute. However, not all weapons feel as robust. The Light Bowgun, without a manual reload or even a melee attack, feels like an after thought. For the weapons that do have these mechanics held over from the mainline games, the lack of a Training Dummy means you can’t practice or learn them. This feels like another oversight. The last mention is the lack of an online party. I’m not sure the requirements behind this, but many of my friends are states and countries away. It would be nice to hunt with them and vice versa, as this would allow us to benefit from each other. As it stands now, the friends list looks more like competition between friends rather than co-op. Aside from these few complaints, I was delighted with how much they did add to the game. With enough marketing, it might even pull in a bunch of new players. I hope it does, so that when the new title releases after MH:Rise, more people will be familiar with it..Version: 61.1

Surprisingly robust but …Also unsurprisingly stingy, and not even in a way it needs to be. I get it is a mobile game and in fact bought a pass already for it to support it. The two biggest issues by far I have with the game are the material drops from monsters and not being able to freely travel between biomes. The reasons for this is the game artificially imposes nonsensical goals on you (slay “x” number of monsters in Forest habitat, for example). I have no problem walking all over the place, but unless you happen to walk where the game geographically demands you walk that triggers said Forest biome, you’re not completing that goal and thus advancing your campaign. You’re effectively stuck. Second, material rarity is tied to monster tier, i.e., tougher the monster, the higher (rarer) the material that drops from monsters after a successful hunt. The problem with this is you can target a high tier monster (since you need that monster’s material to forge stronger weapons and armor) yet upon defeat of blue tier monster, you’ll instead receive basic tier 1 material at a disproportionate rate than what you would expect, even from a mobile game. I shouldn’t hunt rarity 6 monsters, only to commonly receive rarity 1 and 2 material. It’s insulting and doesn’t respect player commitment to the game. Throw us a bone here. Tweak the drop rate and allow the player to more easily complete their campaigns and this game gets an EASY 5 stars..Version: 89.0

Let’s go hunting!… just don’t be over 10 feet awayA little about myself first, I’m a huge monster hunter fan, I would consider myself a veteran in the community, i’ve been playing since 3 ultimate, and I can safely say that this is a “ ok MH game “ first off, I live in a rural community (a population of 2000 people ) and it’s pretty impressive that there is still stuff to do while walking around. walking down my little small street with only one traffic light, I can get about 10 hunts in a day, about 20 gathering materials, and I have four people to hunt with. I am at the game at first started, that’s honestly pretty impressive! is the biggest compliment I would give the game however, grinding for weapons, armor etc. it’s pretty tedious. do you need a lot of materials to get armor at the appropriate level, can’t even really upgrade skills until you’ve had the same monster like 15 times. there is no real online multiplayer only local play which my opinion is a HUGE problem! This is one of the biggest core identities to the franchise is being able to hunt with friends and easier to grind from materials everything you need, they might add something into the future but as of now it’s not here. Also would have the ability to craft healing items as well no way you can do that yet. But the positives are that this game still captures the same fun combat that the series is known for. overall, it is a fair Monster Hunter mobile game, with a much slower grind than usual, lack of a online multiplier, in a lack of grinding for materials for healing items..Version: 60.3

Hopes and FearsI'm a huge fan of the MH series. Started on tri. I was initially afraid of how the gameplay would translate to mobile but the moment to moment mechanics and game feel reflects the mainline series appropriately for mobile devices. I'm having a lot of fun taking walks to gather resources and hunt large monsters; I look forward to updates that will continue to foster an engaging experience. My criticisms are few but pointed. First, sometimes my swipes to dodge aren't registered. I know in traditional mainline games, your attack animation has to be finish before you can input a dodge, so I've tested it with my character just standing and the issue persists. I assume there is a range and speed threshold that needs to be met to successfully dodge, but it's difficult to tell where it is. Second, the game is free. I fear overtime the monetization of MH:N's freemium nature will become more of an obstacle than a simple option. I see myself playing this until the servers shut down so i'd much rather buy the game out right or even pay a simple monthly subscription to access shop items via zenny instead of being nickel-and-dimed for health potions. We'll see how it goes though. 🐉.Version: 61.1

Extremely fun, few minor hiccups.I am around HR 70 and have been playing since release day and have also played and completed every MH game since it’s inception. While I have thoroughly enjoyed this game and everything it has offered I have 2 glaring issues with it. Positives first, all of the monsters are fantastic additions and I love how fluid they are majority of the time. I love the weapons, and especially the new additions with a recent update with the DB and Lance. I love the armor sets and being able to mix and match them to your liking of your specific weapon of choice to enhance its abilities. The theme music I enjoy and have always let it play when launching it. All of the settings and options to hunt at your comfort and your phone’s abilities. The only 2 negatives I have are the shop and the circle around you to find various monsters in your vicinity. I think the shop is very pricey for what you receive and impact the gameplay a lot more than I’d like and I also feel the circle is a little smaller than it needs to be, even if it’s expanded slightly. I would like the addition of weapon tutorials, and learning how to use your weapon to your fullest potential. Thank you if you read this review and I look forward to further updates and what amazing things this team has brought to this game. Happy Hunting!.Version: 68.1

A Really Good Game, But One Issue…This game is really good! It’s essentially just Pokémon Go, but there’s monsters instead. I love the gameplay of it! The one thing that’s annoying me is the gameplay restriction. Essentially, when you go up to a certain speed (I.e Driving), it locks up your gameplay and it won’t unlock until you get the speed down. I understand that it’s supposed to prevent people who are actually driving from playing the game (Some people are actually idiots who does that), but it’s really annoying and frustrating for players who are actually in the passenger seat playing the game. There is a menu that pops up that has a button with, “I’m not the driver” written on it. Even though I press it (because I’m not driving while playing it), it doesn’t do anything. It still locks your gameplay. I understand the reason and purpose for this, but I wish that it could be removed. Or at least fix it to where it won’t lock your gameplay when you tell the app that you’re not the driver. If it does get fixed in the future, I would be more than happen to change my review because as I said before; it’s a really, really good game and I’m having a blast playing it! I know the game was just released and it’s not gonna be perfect immediately. It’s just something to maybe consider for the future updates. 🥰🥰.Version: 60.3

I love the game but…I absolutely love the game but It has some issues for example the pelico, it is pretty useless right now it paintballs monsters that are sometimes totally useless, like I need to hunt a four star puki pukki and he paint ball’s a one star kuli-ya-ku like come on there should be something so you can tell him what to prioritize and what to ignore. the shop, I feel like it’s lacking in things to do with it, it would be good if we could use our coins to buy things and maybe have a trade system with friends, imagine you have something that you’re friend needs and he has something that you need you can trade and progress instead of suffering to the terrible drop rates from the monsters. The drop rates, good lord is this irritating, I’ve been slaying so many pukki puki to get 1 QUILL and I’m yet to get one, I do have a bunch of scales I don't need about 50 of them please don’t be the second coming of fate grand order with terrible drop rates, if you are then make the healing speed faster and give us ten potions instead of five I love playing the game so it’s a real buzz kill when I I have to wait so long to be able to fight again because a diablo refused to go down. Aside of these things the game was made well there is little to no lag and it’s a ton of fun..Version: 63.0

Fun, but predatory cash shopGame is a lot of fun. Combat is a solid simplistic MH game. Expect to grind for gear, but even more so than the average MH. Unfortunately your hunting circle is pretty small and respawn times are absolutely atrocious. You can pay to have a slightly larger circle for a very little amount of time, but the insanely low respawns make it not worth it in the slightest. If I move faster than a slow pace it will trigger the moving too quick feature and lock me from playing for a minute. Can’t craft potions which as anyone that plays the series knows this is like a souls game, the monsters hit hard and unforgivingly. Potions, along with everything else in the cash shop, are priced way too high for what little they do. If we are going to have to pay money for a potion, why not have it at least full heal? Update 9/24 They had their first event! Updating review from 3 to 1 stars. They chose a 5 star monster (Diablos) that anyone under around HR 35 would have no chance with. It hit like a truck and unless you weren’t hard farming to get well over 400 armor you will get 1 shot constantly. Additionally there was the black diablos that was even stronger. I was HR 36 and was able to kill 1 during the whole event. Had to do it solo since bringing anyone in just made them have too much HP..Version: 61.1

Overall is a great game that has room for improvementsOverall, it is a fun game. But it is lacking a few things that would make it even better. Main things is that while in combat whenever you swipe to dodge, most of the time the game will think you’re trying to attack again and will end up you getting hit by the monster. Also, the variety of weapons needs improvements, because unless you heavily upgrade the great sword and the hammer they are not very good when solo hunting; and bows need a rework to where it’s more of regular shots when you tap instead of it being a shotgun. It would be nice if they add the Lance and the Huntinghorne, for whenever you fight with other people. I believe that they need to update the app to where it does not unable you to interact with things or monsters, because it does more harm than good. Several times when I am walking, it will assume that I am driving, and even when I’m in a vehicle and I’m not the driver. It gets annoying that it will constantly stop me from doing anything other than looking at my gear, but I do understand it is to stop people from being on their phones while driving and so they do not get a lawsuit but it gets annoying more often than it should I know that they do it to earn money, but it would be nice if you could be able to obtain potions and double rewards other than spending real world money. After you beat the base campaign, you get three hunting knives to double your awards, but they do not regenerate daily. It would make it all more rewarding to those that completed the main campaign to have them regenerate daily but sadly they do not. an idea for the developers is that a lot of the herbs and bug life go unused cause majority of the weapons and armor require bones and ores, so why not make it to where you can combine those and/or other materials for potions..Version: 61.1

Great game, but a few suggestionsThe game overall is excellent! I have always been a fan of the series for nearly two decades, so having a pocket version is top tier! I love the variety of weapons and the monsters presented give a good fight (4 stars or above). I will point out that the store is a bit pricey and those gems run out quick, so hopefully they balance the prices. Also, the friend list is basically useless as I thought I could shoot an invite like the console version, but you have to be around 200 meters or less to link up. Until they update that, it’s no point in using it. One more thing to add is the monsters you will need for key items can be a task sometimes, and repeat monsters will sometimes be an annoyance. Overall, I still recommend the game, but if you want the real experience, go to the console version of MH. **UPDATE*** This game seems to have some serious bugs. Dodges or pressing the red button for your super does not register half the time. I’m beyond tired of paying high prices for potions. I’ll just stick to the console lol. Also, the game has practically no character customizations if you’re black lol..Version: 95.1

ExcellentThis game is fantastic. Love playing it and getting to hunt all my favorite monsters and improve on the ones I always struggled with. That being said there is one major error that hurts this game. Whenever you have a network error, whether it’s the servers or you hit a bad bit of service it can end your fight, canceling all your progress while taking away your health. If you are fighting a paintballed monster this is worse because the monster disappears from you list and you lose it for good. When you are farming specific material and have been paintballing specific monster this can set you back as well as waste precious time to kill higher tier monsters your Palico may have marked for you. A simple fix would be allowing paintballed monsters to be challenged as many times as needed before the time runs out, but I don’t know if that would mess with Capcom and Niantics vision for this game. Other than that this game feels incredible. The monster fighting means it’s much more engaging that Pokémon Go and other Niantic games. I appreciate the work they put in to bring us such an incredible game..Version: 66.1

Promising but not there yetI have been a long time fan of the monster hunter series and have played every game since tri for the Wii. Mh now has the framework and potential to be a great addition to the franchise but is missing some key quality of life components from the main games. 1 the lack of a training room means you’re wasting precious potions if you want to learn a new weapon. 2 not releasing all 14 weapon types at the start would be fine if we still had the ability to rollback a weapon and get the materials refunded because farming for weeks to get an 8* weapon just to never touch it again when a more favorable weapon type is released is pretty frustrating. 3 and this is a big one, some how Niantic found a way to make one of the easiest to craft and cheapest items in the game cost real money making potions and paintballs far more important than they should be. Niantic should atleast give us an “item box” at gathering points similar to how you get pokeballs at pokestops. 4 give us fashion hunters back the ability to change the color of our armor. Overall it’s a good game but i keep finding myself putting it down after 10-15 minutes because I’ve either ran out of monsters in the area or ran out of potions to keep fighting.Version: 75.1

This is a great but it doesn’t come with out a few flawsI really love mhn, the is really fluid and the graphics are fantastic. This game makes you want to go outside and explore. However there are a few things that I’m not to happy with. The first one being that the drop rate for rarity 4 and higher are way too high! It’s understandable with a main line title because you can hunt the same monster over and over again, and I get that you want people to duplicate the drops they get with money but I haven’t even gotten one prime scale out side the ones you’re given through the main quest. The other thing is that you should be able to gain rarity 4 drops outside of gathering spots, because at the moment the only way to get earth crystals is to go to one of these spots and for me at least it’s not really an option on my usual walking routes. You should also give the ability to craft stuff with all the extra resources we gather like traps, flash bombs, etc. But overall I have had a great experience playing the game but I think with a few improvements such as just making the game less grindy (I mean is monster hunter but this is a little excessive) this game will really shine..Version: 61.1

Good but needs improvementsI enjoy this game. I’ve played most of the MH games over the years. This one is fun and I do like playing it. The problem comes from the fact that you basically run into a pay wall. Potions are very much needed in the game, due to if you don’t have enough health, you can’t fight a monster or if you go down in a fight, you need them to get back up. But you don’t get enough of them unless you spend money. You are give 5 free every day. But if you plan on playing for an extended period, you will probably go through those quickly. In my opinion this is a big hinderance to the game. If you want people to play your game more frequently, you should make potions available like how the pokeballs are in Pokémon go. Put in land mark things like the pokestops. Yeah i understand you use those for the mining points/etc. but most of the time materials just go to waste and take up space because they don’t get used. The drop rate for materials may ch big the monster you fight is crappy. You shouldn’t get rank 1 materials when fighting 5+ star monsters. That’s just a waste. You should at least for sure get 1 material that matches the monster. That’s fair. The game is fun. It just needs some tweaks..Version: 83.0

Interesting, fun, has future potentialA fun game for traveling, whether you are currently or not doesn’t matter, game is playable anywhere and doesn’t set much restrictions to when or where other than the somewhat annoying speed limit that disables gameplay, safety is first but still, clicking on an empty space where there was once material loot or an enemy is disorientating. Combat is smooth and intuitive, there are some minor visual hang ups when fighting certain star enemies though such as when you get hit by a rolling attack and your character rolls along with it but is pretty much squashed underneath or is way farther away from the enemy sometimes. I would like if I could interrupt my attacks easier though other than bashing the enemy, but that’s a skill issue. Has plenty features to make the game entertaining, there are probably battle features or skills I haven’t encountered yet. The main game is entertaining and gets you hooked, you spend more time than you think playing it. Progression wise, it is pretty stable and introduces content and skills at a good pace. Hopefully there will be more to come.Version: 61.1

Great game!!! Not pay to win but it is a grid!I find myself playing this game multiple times daily. It has quickly become my favorite current mobile game, and working on becoming one of my all time favorites. I have played since day one and while I’m only level 72 I love the fact that I can play at my pace without worrying about getting behind and having to pay to catch up to be competitive. I really hope that aspect of the game continues in the future. They have events regularly, new quests weekly, daily, and the storyline quests. You don’t have to worry about getting behind on the story if you take extra time to level up your gear, which I highly recommend blowing up your gear. Take your time and don’t rush through the storyline, if you do you will find yourself trying to find low level monsters to get the materials needed to upgrade the gear you need/want leveled up only to find yourself surrounded instead by 5 and higher level monsters. So, take your time, grind the low levels and you will be a beast once you move up..Version: 74.1

It’s a good game but…My husband and I love the Monster Hunter series, which we have been playing since PSP times. This game is good but definitely needs to be worked on. If you have never played Monster Hunter before, I definitely wouldn’t judge it off this game due to it being inaccurate as far as parts breaking and getting random loot. If you break something in regular MH, you will get the item for the part you broke. As far as this game being rewarding to play, it’s really not; you get on, you kill, and you get off. I’m really disappointed in Niantic for releasing this game with no option for getting a little extra loot like in Pokémon Go when you hit stops. It's that little extra feature that makes a game more enjoyable. You also can’t play this game if you’re going over 12 mph. I like that you ride around on my electric scooter, but even on that, I get restricted constantly, not being able to play and having to wait like 5-8 seconds to be able to play again. I get that it stops people from driving and playing, but still, it’s infuriating to deal with. Regular MH has options where you can craft your own items, but this game doesn’t have that. They recently released an update a few weeks ago for a Pink Rathian spawning event, and they messed up on the date it was supposed to come out, and their response was, “My bad guys have 1 free paintball." To give you an idea, this game has First Aid, Potions, Wander Orbs (30-minute extended reach time), and Wander Droplets (15-minute extended reach time). They also have these packs that you can buy in-game that really don’t give you a lot, so I personally don’t think it’s worth it. This game needs a lot of work. I’ll keep in mind playing every now and then, but we'll stick to regular Monster Hunter..Version: 65.0

An all around good mobile experienceI’m not a hardcore gamer but I have played and loved several of the MH titles through the past 15 years. I think this game does a good job of emulating the challenge of Monster Hunter and boiling it down to minute long battles. You still have to match and level up the correct weapon for a given monster type, and when you hit 5 Star battles the challenge really kicks in. The two major criticisms that I have at the moment are: 1) The large monster spawn rate is really low. If you’re at home or work or in one place in general for a while, you might only see one or two new generations. 2) The shop prices for items are RIDICULOUS. The in game currency that can only be obtained through real $$ doesn’t even get you far. It costs $1~2 USD to purchase a paintball to mark a monster — and you only get one shot at the fight or the monster runs away. This is incredibly expensive and unrealistic and I hope they change this soon. I usually get in game purchases for games that I like and want to see succeed, but on principal I won’t be spending and money in this game until they fix their rates, which are currently obscene..Version: 62.1

So far so good.Runs really well on higher-end phones, which is a first for Niantic since Wizards Unite. Hopefully they don’t poison the game with user-hostile challenges like they did with Wizards Unite. Gameplay is fun and quick, which is important. A Niantic game hasn’t been quick since Ingress. It’s not particularly immersive and the concept is boring so far, and there aren’t a lot of ways to play with other people. Play sessions are short and I don’t want to pay to increase my interaction radius (this game made the mistake of dropping when I’m pretty broke), but it doesn’t look like that would play much. There are constant warnings against playing while walking, which is a true first for Niantic. It also doesn’t feel like the kind of thing you’d want to do while walking. Anyway, my only actual suggestion would be to make the story a little more substantial and faster-paced. Maybe make it so there are more monsters to hunt if you’re holding still. Pretty funThis game is different enough from the other niantic games that it doesn’t feel just like a clone. It helps that the monsters and resources spawn randomly around the map, so you can play anywhere. There are some improvements that could be made. One of the biggest things that bothers me is how easy it is to lose a paintballed monster. To me, if you are spending money to mark that monster for later it should not disappear if you have connection issues during the hunt. Like Pokémon go, there are ways to get all in game items outside of spending money, but the game is not very clear on what those ways are, you’ll just end up with all these items you have no idea how you got. Last, I think the game could benefit from some sort of component analogous to Pokémon gyms. Not a direct clone, maybe not even the same concept, but just something that’s tied to a real location that gives you a reason to go on adventures. The monsters and resources are really helpful to have easy access to but I want something a little more substantial to go hunt down..Version: 61.1

Gameplay Restrictions While DrivingSo far I absolutely love this game. I am fairly new to the Monster Hunter fandom only starting from Monster Hunter World about a year ago but I think that this follows that pretty well. There are a few bugs here and there such as slow dodging when I swipe or taking a bit to load a battle against a large monster but that’s expected from a game release only a week ago. My biggest complaint is that when you are at driving speed it only shows the road. I understand that it’s to prevent people from driving but as a passenger just trying to find a Kulu-Ya-Ku so I can upgrade my armor it’s a bit of a hassle. I only really have time to play at home or in the car and I can’t play in the car. I think it would be a good idea to have markers showing where monsters or supplies are like how you can see what’s outside your range in walking speed, you would have to pull the car over and then hunt the monster. There could also be an option to paintball a monster for later if you’ve confirmed you’re a passenger..Version: 61.1

Fun with a twistLove love love it! Easy and fun. Only one issue. And one suggestion the issue I have First is where I live. There’s a private community gated private community. The circle is not big enough to get the goodies that are inside that private community and I don’t live in that community. Therefore, I don’t have access to it the suggestion I have. is make the circle either larger or remove things that we cannot get it because it’s tempting. I wanna hop the fence, but no really the true suggestion I have is it would be nice to be able to see the scoring and ranking of other players, after a battle, for example if we were in a group battle party or rally whatever you want to say and we slay the monster at the end it would be nice to see who got the final hit who you know scored the most that’s just a fun little suggestion the other issue I had was not really an issue, but when creating your character, the setting of the eyes are really creepy Yeah so that her eye shaves would be good because the eyes are creepy! Other than that the game is fun..Version: 60.3

Great combat, UI could be improvedI’ve played MH Now for a few days, and thought I would leave a review. The combat in this game is certainly fun, with all the basic mechanics of the series followed faithfully. It feels a lot like a monster hunter mainline game, simplified for a touchscreen. Fighting the early monsters in seconds is pretty simple and satisfying. Creating combos and countering monsters for big damage is definitely a pull in. Weapon and armor crafting is enjoyable as well, with fast but complex possibilities. These core parts of MH Now are very enjoyable. Alternatively, I find the UI and game layout to be like a less polished version of Niantic’s Pokemon Go. While it has certainly been functional, I sense a lack of animations and polish make it less appealing. The audio design also sounds more like pokemon GO than what I’d like in a monster hunter game. The audio design and UI fully work, but creatively take away from the immersion for me. The mix of monster hunter and modern EDM is interesting, and I’m interested to see where they take it though. Overall fun and addictive gameplay, but UI and creative audio design takes away immersion for me..Version: 83.0

Not a bad game but it could be wayyy betterThe game has the potential to be good but honestly just lacks way too many of the mechanics or unique elements that the original games have. Some features i feel could be added is definitely a better crafting system where we can make potions and maybe even other things like strength or defense buffs. Other people have mentioned how there should be a sort of pokestop mechanic which i agree on, I walk a lot so it would be great help especially when i need some extra items. Some complaints i have is that the rng is this game straight up blows for being rank 43 some of my weapons are still on rank 3 just because the monsters I kill don’t give the drops I need or they just don’t drop enough. Another thing is that I barely got anything from climbing to the rank I am it i felt like each time i hit a new milestone they gave me a card saying congratulations with nothing else. Another thing i feel could be added is a sort of clan mechanic letting you see when people in your clan are online and inviting people to your hunt whenever you start it. Also Besides that I really like the perfect doge mechanic..Version: 65.0

Room to growI have been playing monster hunter games for years so I was very excited to the franchise getting a real mobile game. I think the game is starting off pretty well. With this being the first day of its official release, of course there are improvements and new content to look forward to. Some notes I have so far are that I like the combat. It's pretty simple with taps and swipes to perform different moves but I think it fits well with the way combat traditionally works with these games. I would like to see more resources or a wider radius of the available area that you can interact with. With how small the current circle is, it's difficult to reach some monsters or resources without going through different properties that have limited access. Also, the game is essentially nonfunctional at moderate to high speeds despite there being a confirmation message that the player is not a driver. That indicates to me that the game should work at roads speeds but it does not, which defeats the purpose of the confirmation. Overall though, I am enjoying the game and look forward to what is released in the future..Version: 60.3

I hate the fast-motion restricted gameplay mechanicI love this game, I preordered it once I got the chance and so far I think this game is amazing, but I do not like the restricted gameplay feature and here is why: I say that the gameplay restriction feature is stupid because I am a passenger rider and loved how I could travel around in a car in Pokémon GO and still be able to play. But with this game, I can’t play while moving in a car or—as is most common for me—a bus, which makes traveling around and trying to hunt monsters useless since I can’t go outside and walk around due to me being in a remote and rather dangerous area. I encourage you—the developers—to remove this feature from the game and let everyone who is a passenger play the game while moving in cars and busses, as well as other modes of fast-paced transportation. I also do not like that this game requires internet connection to play. Players should be able to play offline and not have to rely on cellular data or internet to hunt monsters because I—and many others—are solo players and either can’t, or don’t, play multiplayer..Version: 67.0

Fun until it’s notSo I got this game and loved it, so much fun to play and felt like I always made progress, it wasn’t until I got to the 4+ star monsters did the game slow down to a screeching halt, your weapons where once good now become useless because they don’t deal enough damage, your armor only saves you from one hit, hit boxes for yourself are a pain, and the monsters roar which eats up a good amount of your very very very limited time, and potions become scarce. The main problem is that, monsters don’t drop enough parts, and some weapons don’t break very many parts to begin with, and armor is useless unless you upgrade it which you can’t since weaker monsters don’t spawn, I love the bow but it doesn’t break 90% of parts and since it’s the strongest weapon I have I can only use it because no weaker monsters spawn anymore since I’m high tier and I feel like I can’t do anything now and I’m stuck until weaker monsters spawn more often instead of monsters I can’t kill, so either make it where all weapons can break all parts and body the drops of monsters and make lower level monsters show up.Version: 64.1

Fun but needs workHR 37 right now and I’m enjoying the game, but theres a lot of community disappointment. Potions are micro transactions I get you can play without taking a hit but when a diablos lightly caresses me with its tail and I lose 98% of my hp I really wish I had more than 5 a day without spending a bunch of money on gems. I get the speed limit is for safety but even players who aren’t driving can’t do anything at all. Monster drop rates are ABYSMALLY small I could fight 5 stars all day and only get rarity 1 drops devs really need to up the drop rate or at least make it so higher level monsters don’t drop the lowest rarity items. Refresh rates for gathering spots take too long so unless you’re in a spot with a lot of them you’re not getting much. Diablos event was not good for the majority of the player base barely anyone could take it on unless there were multiple high level hunters. Take everything with a grain of salt it’s good game with room to grow but it does need some work hopefully the devs listen to their community and don’t mess this up..Version: 61.1

Decent but buggySo, I do enjoy this game. There’s a couple pacing issues, as others have pointed out, but I view it as just me needing more work. Which is just like every other Monster Hunter game, honestly. We’ve all had that “I just need this one part to upgrade my weapon” in every other MH game, this is just more blatant about it. However, my problems stem from the poor connection issues. I can be out in the open, with all 4 bars for my data, or even all bars for Wi-Fi, and I’ll just get that “Poor Connection” line, have all of my damage done for the past 5 seconds deleted, have my time keep ticking down, and be unable to do anything. Then, my connection comes back, the monster I’m hunting will instantly attack, and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s infuriating! Especially when it happens multiple times in one hunt. I could be fighting a 2-star Kulu Ya-Ku, which I can kill in 10 seconds and get an A on my speed, but the connection issues will mean that it takes me a full minute to kill it and I get a C. Either fix the connection issues so it stops happening, or pause the timer while the connection issues are happening..Version: 66.1

Great concept but one major flawHi, so I’ve been a long time Monster Hunter fan and have been playing since MH3U. This series has been a godsend for me and I’ve enjoyed constantly hunting spending months just beating up monsters with my friends and learning about them. I would love to give this game 5 stars. I really was excited about it…but it has a major flaw that the developers have confirmed they will not implement and that’s a massive online experience. Monster hunter has always at some point or another had ways for you to play with other hunters world wide and it has made it a huge success for Monster hunter fans to play with anyone else in the community but this game insists on being “local.” Now the community can’t just play with anyone now, it has to be within a 400 mile radius which is absolutely nothing. Really hope this game reconsiders not being worldwide. It would be absolutely perfect if it did. Especially if they insist on putting in monsters where it is expected of you to form a group within your 400 mile radius to defeat and cannot be done solo..Version: 61.1

AwesomeEnjoying it so far. Less passive than pokemon GO though so keep that in mind. The paintballs allow you to tag hunts for later (which I take home to play later with my husband which I think is pretty cool)..Version: 60.3

Better than Pokémon GoGot me into the monster hunter franchise. Besides needing dimensional links, every other update has been amazing. Only down side is that there is limited gameplay for people of rural areas, as I heard many don’t have bases or gathering nodes. Not sure if it’s being addressed still, but if you live in a town or city, this game is for you. Pokémon go is lacking..Version: 116.1

Game Great, Support HorribleI have played Niantic Titles for a long time, however the company provides little to no help for accounts getting Hacked. I have admittedly spent hundreds of real life dollars only to have no one accessible to reach out to. Online research leads me to find out that if your account gets hacked and they change your ID number, that’s it. There is nothing more to be done. This posting is my last resort to inform the public of the current risk of a Niantic game. They do gracious accept your money, but provide no account security and are unreachable for support. And if you do not believe me, try it for yourself and look into how to get your account back when it’s been Hacked, you’ll be shockingly surprised at how little help there is..Version: 101.0

Controller?Honestly, everything about monster Hunter now is what I needed and one hand to enjoy the series when I’m not playing it on the console. But if we could get controller support like the Backbone, I would enjoy this game a lot more..Version: 90.0

Monster hunter nowIt keeps crashing on me so i can’t play it very often.Version: 96.0

Game’s decently fun without walking aroundI like the simplicity of hunter weapons compared to the base games, let’s me know what I should be doing in the base game too.Version: 94.0

ReviewThe game is fun to play when I’m able to. Unfortunately there is a limitation on gameplay when moving at certain speeds so I can’t play it as a passenger in the vehicle which is ridiculous. You need to be either really good or have money to spend. The game gives 5 portions per day and doesn’t allow you to fight a monster if you’re below 30% health. Overall a fun game to play but there should be a way to get potions to heal with other than buying them or waiting until the next day..Version: 93.0

Good but grindyIt’s a good game but once you get to grade 5 equipment it gets really grindy.Version: 92.0

Day 1 playerHonestly this is the only mobile game that isn’t aggressively trying to take my money. It isn’t pay to play. It’s pay to get to maxed out gear and then????? The grind is fun and not too demanding! Like I said in the title I’m a day one player and live right beside 3 resources. My best weapon is grade 9 and my best armour set is almost 800 armour! Still lots of game for me to play and the introduction of new weapons(including weapon types) monsters and armour keep this game feeling fresh and fun!! 10/10.Version: 88.1
