Fun and addictiveI love the app and play a lot. Please bring in expansions and extra boards like the ones on Board Game Arena. One bug I’ve noticed is that when I am allowed to pay to play a sponsor card from my hand, as one of the bonuses for the conservation project, I am not specifically prompted to do that during the tea break and I never actually get to use that ability. Also there are times when I’m choosing a card and the board or the association area is covered up and you can’t hide the cards to check the board or the association area to make sure you’re getting a card consistent with your goals. Great implementation though some bugsThe game plays well and sound design is great. Feels reactive when pressing the buttons and very satisfying there are a few strange bug like behaviors, such as screens not appearing when they’re supposed to or they appear after you’ve pressed a different button. So close to great, hopeful for futureI’ve played this game quite a bit both in person and on Board Game Arena. Seeing this game on mobile as a dedicated app was such an awesome surprise! So far it’s been a welcome experience to play the game with a modern design, but I have a few issues. 1. The board state is really difficult to read. This is a game that requires constant attention to different trackers/aspects of the game. On mobile I can not see my zoo ma as default… I have to manually bring up the conservation board, zoo cards/reputation/conservation tracker, and my own cards. I cannot view that information simultaneously - which makes it pain to track interactions and break points. I need a larger view for default game state - it is just too much clicking around to have to view basic info I need all the time. At the same time I sympathize for the UX designer tasked with the above ask - it’s a lot of info to cram into a mobile view, but frankly it’s not a great experience. 2. When creating games with friends, it seems ridiculous we all need to be on the app at the exact same time… That said, have high hopes for this app because I love ark nova and the overall design is clean, modern and enjoyable..GcouweleersVersion: 1.0.1

Great Game, Flawed AppThe game crashes a lot. Not a big deal since I can reopen and it picks up where it left off. A bigger problem is that I encountered a bug several times where the app prompts me to “Resolve your effects”, but offers no options to resolve. This happened most recently while stopped at the marker which instructs me to discard one final scoring card. However, the window to allow me to select a card was never displayed. I tried toggling all the windows, clicking on the final scoring cards themselves, reverting my turn then closing the app then reopening and trying again. Nothing worked. I was dependent on the game opening the correct window but it never did and I had to abort the game..^^****^^Version: 1.0.4

Bad UI on iPhoneThe game is great but the UI is real bad on an iPhone. There really isn't enough real estate on the phone to have all the info in front of you. You just hear a lot of noises and it's your turn. Then the screens cover each other so you can't see screens that pop up. I had a rewards screen blocked by the cards and nothing made it go away. PC version looks amazing. Would have bought it there. Maybe iPad will be better. Building placement is about aggravating enough to close the app. That needs an instant fix. Maybe double tapto lock the pivot point or something but it's horrible. I know they will fix it but buyer beware. This needed some more time in the oven..LordunbornVersion: 1.0

Solid effort but inferiorI love Ark Nova, and play a lot with friends on Board Game Arena. I don’t mind the smaller screen size, that’s expected for mobile app. However, the adaptation has a surprising number of bugs, a few game-breaking. For many issues, you must quit and restart to reset the interface because icons or effects will disappear or happen without notice. I must’ve submitted a half dozen bugs via feedback by now, too tired to record them all. The BGA adaptation remains superior in all aspects. Hopefully, Dire Wolf will patch regularly. GoodThis is such a complicated game for many people, so like me, I think some people would find it difficult to play when everything is so small. I do so much better when I’m able to see everything all at once without having to click on each card to see what it does. Excellent AdaptationI was familiar with the board game but needed a refresher so I played the 3 tutorials pretty quick. If you are not familiar with the game, you might need to go through the tutorials a couple times as there is a lot going on to make sense of. I think people who have played the game in real life will enjoy it here. Pretty greatThis game is pretty complicated and I think they did a good job making the app as simple as it could be, given all the components. I think there’s some wasted real estate on iPad (below your opponent’s player info) and I find the board game tracks a little clunky and hard to read. Some graphics in the game also don’t appear to be hi-res, which is surprising. My biggest and actual complaint is that the AI player is way, way too strong. I rarely win on a Medium game. Just Diving In….but quick feedback: 1) is there any chance we can get full screen?? I understand why dire wolf pulls in the extents, but man, it feels cheap. 2) can we get an option to reverse the zoom in direction? Pulling the fingers apart does the opposite of what feels natural on a touchscreen 3) this might sound petty, but devs please listen, the top right corner of every card that is enlarged… it has an extra pixel or something hahaha (ie the curve isn’t continuous) It looks unfinished..ThenmrkidVersion: 1.0.1

A great alternative to the board gameHelps with all the set-up and tracking. Much more difficult to manage on the phone versus the tablet but still playable. The tutorial is 3 parts and when finished it is still confusing but trial and error (and some painful losses against the AI) is enough to get the hang of it and starting to understand the synergies. Fun (complex) gameI love Dire Wolf’s board game adaptations, and this is no exception. I’ve never played Ark Nova before. There’s a lot going on, but after playing through one game I can see that I’m going to like this. Try it out if you’re a fan of games that have lots of systems working together—closest analogue (as everyone says) is Terraforming Mars. Excellent adaptation despite weird glitchesThis is perhaps the best adaptation of a board game I’ve ever played on iPad. It really is fantastic. It is so fantastic that I am giving it five stars even though it has weird little glitches that pop up in most games. Crucially, I have never ONCE lost progress because of this; if I restart the app, my game is exactly as it should be, and that saves my enthusiastic rating. But weird things like enclosures appearing in the wrong spot, action cards disappearing, not being able to hover over cards, or even game freezes are fairly frequent. These little blips were so weird that I even got a new iPad to see if they would still happen. They do, though less frequently. If Dire Wolf can fix these things — which, again, are annoying but don’t actually affect gameplay — then this will be a near-perfect board game adaptation..KakapowVersion: 1.0.5

Generally, just. ok and buggyWhen the game doesn’t glitch, it plays OK. AI does some generally suboptimal play to just interfere with players, such as one ai opponent needlessly getting cards or sponsoring for cash, just so the next ai can force the break, especially if you are over the card limit. The real issue is random bugs. Example is situation where it let me keep cards over the limit, aaaannnd then also never let me access the cards. A two bugs for the price of one. Also, it frequently (1 x for ~3 games) won’t let you do valid actions. Especially when you get extra actions. Could I provide more specifics? No. After all, they don’t pay me to test their products and, frankly, it is easier to resign and restart or just play solo on board game arena. Shame, because the app looks pretty. And, at least, when not glitching, it plays better than just normal solo. Hopefully they will sort stuff out quickly..Ludus777Version: 1.0.5

Needs RefinementOverall this adaption is good, but the app is still quite buggy and could use some more refinement. The version on Board Game Arena is far superior to this app should be what these developers should strive for. I report issues, but it sometimes feels like I’m a tester more than a user considering how often I run into issues. Some bugs include: score not being calculated properly, cards not leaving hand when they should, actions not redeeming when they should and also when they shouldn’t, inaccurate workers available. Some annoyances across new and old devices include: drains battery like crazy (in comparison BGA has almost no impact), freezes on new and old devices, only saves current game, no end game stats, inconsistent undo button, placing enclosures sometimes encounters issues, touch area can get stuck in different area and you cannot resume action, would rather less animation for a smoother and more easy navigable experience (it’s so difficult to check on other tables while playing) The good: still a good overall adaptation, fun challenge modes (would love more!), seems to auto save often which helps for freezes/crashes, an okay layout considering how much needs to be displayed in this game, doesn’t need internet connectivity and can play against computer opponents.AntoooshVersion: 1.0.5

Beautiful but..This game is so complicated that it makes Magic The gathering look like child’s play. When you spend more time closing windows that obscure the play field, you know there’s a problem. How anyone could play this on the phone is beyond me, and I was using an iPad. Every time you think you understand something more details are added that look like somebody just thought them up and said oh “that sounds good.” I want my games to be fun and enjoyable not complicated and frustrating. I had to ask for a refund on this one. And I rarely ask for refunds on any of my apps. I’ve played many Dire wolf games and most of them are great. Target size for actions and other UI elements are too small. Title of end game cards not displayed in minimized version even though there is plenty of space. Rotation controls are backwards. Very buggyRan into some bugs that were bad enough for me to give up and call it quits. One of my actions would disappear, cards would get stuck in my hand and be unplayable, you are forced to release animals from the smallest exhibit regardless of where you played them originally and some minor stuff like tooltips were wrong. UI IssueAfter the recent update if you click on cards it doesn’t show you the full card overlay on screen. Similar with the actions, doesn’t show you the overlay which shows what each action does.
